Cowboys: Wade Phillips Conference Call

10 Oct 2007

Cowboys: Wade Phillips Conference Call

Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips addresses the New England media during his conference call on October 10, 2007. Q: You had a very exciting Monday night. WP: Very exciting. One of the most exciting, I think. Q: You don't want too many of those, but when you do see them they're kind of memorable, I suppose. WP: They are. [It was] one we'll never forget. Q: You have a team that's 5-0 and then you go through something like that. The Patriots didn't play their best, although they beat Cleveland. You both won. Is it difficult to play the next week after you've had such an exciting foray into NFL football? WP: I think both teams will be up for this game. Both of us 5-0, that's motivation right there. Q: Tony Romo certainly had an up-and-down day, but the fact is you ended up winning. He's produced an awful lot this year. Talk about him, his style of play and his resilience to overcome a game like he had the other day. WP: I thought that was the great thing about it. He came back, completed 11 out of his last 14 and drove us in the three-minute period to a game-winner. We ended up with nine points and almost had 11 in the last three minutes of the game in which the game was on the line. He really came through at the end and I think that was the key for him and us. Q: What kind of kid is he to work with? WP: He's great. He's super. He has a great personality - always upbeat, a real competitor all of the time. Practice, whatever, he's always competing to do well. Studies hard. As soon as we got here, he was here with us - the coaches, because we have new staff and so forth - he was out here with us trying to learn as much as he could. He's been great. Q: Does he come in on his day off and stuff like that? WP: Oh yeah. He was here yesterday, and always is, trying to learn the game plan early and doing what he needs to do. He does all the right things, and I think that's why he's turning into a bigger quarterback. Q: What time did you get home T...
