[0:00]" Well I don't know I'm. Want to go -- That they've -- prayer it's his patriots playbook. Breaking down last Sunday. It would 2000. -- NFL season. And some of the point seven between. We'll find out how much that game's still sticks in their crop come up here in approximately ten minutes Kennedy who is the beat writer for the San Diego Chargers in the on -- who union Tribune he's scheduled to join in the program today in the meantime we got a lot of emails and things to get to one no because of the vision. And the statement that came today from coach Belichick concerning I gate or whatever it is that we call that we -- about a half a dozen different things. Yesterday the statement from coach Belichick when we read that first for those -- that maybe logging on and listening for the first time this afternoon for the -- that this is a repeat performance. I apologize we will try to get to some matters that are football today and -- because of the enormity really of the of the game coming up on Sunday night. But you know as well as I do -- absolutely. As well as I do that NBC television network that will be carrying this Sunday Night Football game live from Foxboro. All will be spending quite a bit of time if not all of their time pregame talk about what. Like so. You know is here to kids. I -- you want to talk football and you want to move on and you want to put all the bad stuff behind you know okay it we got -- fingers a cookie -- we got -- prepared now whatever. You know and cliche you want to throw in here. Fine now let's move on. Well it's going to be very hard to do I think we're going to have to get by this Sunday's game. Before we can really move on we're certainly going to have to wait until a punishment decision is rendered it. By the NFL before we can move on and we think that could happen by Friday don't really know. We don't know will know when you know will know when the NF LL the patriots. And the patriots choose to tell the media and the you to tell us and then course will bring it to you right here patriots dot com radio will have the very latest for you as we get it it will you know nobody else will get a earlier that I that I can pretty much guarantee -- at any rate the statement from coach -- is quote earlier this week. I spoke with commissioner Goodell about a videotape and procedure during last Sunday's game. And my interpretation of the rule at this point we have not been notified of the league's ruling. Although remains a legal matter I want to apologize to everyone who has been effective most of all ownership that. And players following the league's decision I would have. No further comment or -- following the league's decision I will have further comment which means I'm not talking anymore until the league. Tell us what their decision is going to make you know will also have coach Belichick news conference for you. On from earlier today at Gillette in case you missed the hero patriots dot com. One of those reporters apparently for the -- when we do get that we will bring it to Liu so if it's not later in the show today will be tomorrow will bring to the conference calls and get a chance and onto the chargers perspective coming into this but we aren't going to give you some of that city -- perspective on an undisputed who can basically anti union him. In the meantime I I believe strongly as I told the POW -- couple moments ago that. You know I understand if you feel hurt. I understand if you feel embarrassed because I think we all as patriot fans here part of the reason it was so easy to like this team is because what it stood forward ownership of four players the management stood for. You know in terms of being above board Drew and things the right way you know being honest having integrity all the dove and to have this happen. Or to have this come out. That this has happened within your organization that you believed in that you trust it and naturally you're going to feel the -- I think that's an honest natural human. Reaction -- Now he remind you talk about being betrayed by your football team which is in the business of making money and the way that they make the most money is by winning the most games. Don't ever for a minute forget that. It is all about it because it is all about the money and it is all about making a return on your investment. And you know you can and do the right things but the craft -- had this opportunity if they didn't feel like this would you know worth their while. And no millionaire or billionaire is ever going to get involved -- adventure like this analysts they feel like you know there's potentially thing for -- you know. I have a return -- my -- because of the size of the investment. And yet they have had a return and now they've established on the and they want to keep that I can understand what coach Belichick would apologize first and foremost mr. Kraft. -- I'm I feel rose or mr. Kraft knew very little about this if anything at all."

[7:18]" You know he's on the competition committee he's -- that he is may be the most respected owner in all of the NFL. And for him to have this happen in his camp I'm sure he isn't there. And injury he said you know what the bleep is going gone. Over the apology to be directed it should be directed at mr. -- I'm not sure sure need to be direct anybody else I was in mr. -- first staff certainly second. Because the staff is you know gonna take of the brunt of the criticism now. I mean from the marketing people the sales people to the POW guys to the broadcasters to you know everybody's going to be thought of -- now all you were for the patriots they cheat. We're all going to be lumped into that no matter who we are or what we stand for or what we've done in the past we're all lumped in there together were all. It because we pull paycheck from the growing when patriot we worked for this team -- we must beat we much sheet to. And obviously if you think that there's any truth to that they are all your shadley mistake. And how -- you for even. Making that kind of extra. You know I don't have anybody to explain to. Gary doesn't have anybody explain to nobody and his organization as anybody explain to accept coach Belichick to mr. Kraft period."

[8:33]" Now the patriots going to do the standup thing my guess would be that you don't while I I should not you know what I'm I'm going to give them because I have nothing to do that it. I've nothing to do we are going to sit we're going to wait. Precisely what the NFL has and when the NFL as it. Patriot collect accordingly they'll have the chance I'm sure have their out of the story told her coach -- is sort of partially done that and then we move on from -- we can't. In the meantime the fallout will continue throughout the country there will be -- golf fans like an -- bit earlier all over you know from other teams space within the jet. You know fans of the dolphins fan of the bills and the chargers anybody that considers themselves a rival of the patriots and by that I mean anybody the patriots beat crap out of recently. Or just beaten period dog as they well maybe maybe they heated debate fine let them think that. Absolutely let him think that you know the tail end -- coach Belichick news conference today if you didn't hear it. And -- was in Atlanta it was right after he kept saying that you know. That statement pretty much -- he was asked. I carried Regan of the Boston earlier in the news conference today are you embarrassed yet she got -- you embarrassment. And his reaction to that was a you know -- want to talk about the football game if not I think that statement which does Reggie I think that statement pretty much covers. Oh there was a report then the next Tom usher who was reported an ass after that about defending Ladainian -- Coach Belichick smiled again I apologize if this is a rebuke to those -- demise -- it was to a here operators like on the he said whatever happens out there Sunday night out there on the field. That's -- everybody will make their statement."

[10:24]" I think they're pretty much sums it up don't you. Whatever happens out there Sunday night out there on the field that's where everybody will make their --"

[10:35]" You know here's an interest in twist tool I heard him give credit where credit is there. This came from a caller to talk radio show it was done in calendar in effect this morning and WEEI believe that I was listening -- time. And of course obviously there's a huge topic of conversation you know 247 in -- to talk radio in Boston and New England right now and certainly get a lot of played nationwide audience in on fox and in others and course outside -- New England people were just hammering -- heck out of the patriots as you might expect you know an end nobody hears defending okay. Make sure we understand that nobody here to my knowledge is defend well realized that somewhere in the chain of command something went awry. And -- somebody's got to own two in the I think we're in prize is of of getting to that point. But a fan called in the morning and and and basically said here's what I think and it actually in it's nutty way makes perfect sense to me. We don't know the coach Belichick likes to think two and three steps on down the line ahead of the game. Over the words you know what we've got a first down or shaken up play going you sort of thing you know the next series -- drive. Or at the end of the game -- think about the next game to game with coach Belichick has gotten where he is in this profession because he's always thinking ahead. Maybe because in this just paraphrase of what the caller was saying today maybe because all of the burden of pressure. Is on New England coming into the season I mean the patriots as you know overwhelming almost favorite. To reach the Super Bowl if not win the Super Bowl this year. Maybe because of that maybe trying to deflect the attention and you know how the patriots have always thrived on being against them. About having that no respect card to play in about having the chip on the shoulder attitude in the that it always arrive. In that particular regard maybe. Really crazy that sounds maybe this was a -- Maybe this was a -- maybe this was something -- almost on purpose in order to rally the true. Can you picture and locker room coach military telling his team before Sunday -- game against chargers guys everybody in the world thinks -- Everybody in the world thinks you cheat everybody in the world thinks I -- everybody thinks. Are cheaters and we'd have not earned our place. Go out -- short. You know we can -- that can you picture that talk about given your team a mental edge while. I guarantee you this is already being worked on in the clubhouse it. And it is not being done from a team that aspect. There has already been used as a team rallying cry that hasn't been talk about openly. In the locker room I guarantee you privately amongst the players in this locker room. They're all grumbling I don't have to -- I'll should use that you are going to kick the -- I guarantee you it's already given every one of those guys that showed up on Sunday night -- mental. -- if not a mental edge for Sunday night I -- We'll find out of course ultimately the patriots end up you know -- of the facing getting beat. By the chargers getting beat bad by the treasurer on -- and will all look at this determine well this was a huge distraction. And it wasn't something that the team could ultimately overcome and congratulations to the charges the papers got their comeuppance now we're back at square one and -- be one and one of the season and let's turn our attentions to next week. You know okay get kick and pick -- Right now -- Kind of like the -- in this one. Because I do believe that these guys these guys -- mental -- is as well if not better than anybody else in this league. You know what I know -- guy's done a locker room even know. Media here knows that everybody knows -- they use the mental advantage as well as anybody and they probably use it. And because of that that's why I think that the team probably go there'd be successful on. Now I am not going to underscore the fact that charges are very good for the chargers also. Also have a bit of a mental you know -- well in a chip on their shoulder because what happened last year and you're. You know want to patriots beat them in the playoffs I understand it completely and point four to 21 game the -- felt like they had in hand. And ultimately the papers came from behind to beat him in San Diego I'm sure that's had taken their crawl now for the last eight and a half -- very much. So you know I'm sure the charges feel like they've got a mental edge on their side to that is going to add absolutely to the spice to the intrigue it. You know -- the labor. The tension that will be paid on -- and NBC is just getting beyond belief now that this happened why -- there ratings will be through the with the roof on on the night. And I will be darned if Gillette stadium is an electric on Sunday -- like a playoff atmosphere. Where you -- if you -- light a match and it just read -- global building you know I would be -- if you you know didn't have that kind of an attitude and that kind of electricity about the stadium on Sunday night it will be the place to be in sports this weekend at Gillette stadium Foxborough -- Sunday night eight -- The focus the whole sports world will be right here. Because of what happened off the field and what happened on -- last January. And whatever appeal last week when the patriots you don't beat the jets and beat them handily on the road. And unveiled all there. New weaponry on -- that matter can't forget it and it was Thomas can't and so. Today you know this is great this building upgraded beautiful you like stories. I like -- had once been enough apparent than I guarantee you that's what's going to happen. It's going to build a beautiful you know that's that's really how I got to look at it now let me get back to addressing a little about you know those -- you feel betrayed. I understand you know don't don't hold -- waiting for apology because I'm not sure you're gonna get it. You may get another apology of short on. After row of the punishment is handed down but his coach Belichick said he apologized to you know ownership staff and players. Ownership because of the -- damp because they're the ones left living with Indian players who is now there's a distraction. Hopefully they can use it to their advantage as -- describe -- there is a distraction out there now. Leading innocent and I -- this whole you know I -- issue that the distraction. And you know I don't think that that'll be something. Quite frankly you know what you're gonna get any time soon although you may get it in the form of you know play on the free. I'd be curious to know how you continue to feel about that I know will continue the thought process that the VFW guys started with just short while ago. And it's helping they're paranoid and I like that they're paranoid for a reason because it. Gillick didn't. You know looking out -- in the patriot knocked it out believe me being the level of paranoia in the league and you now. And up and he gets a little bit of amusement and I think a little bit of hoping that the."

[19:32]" Yeah absolutely and and you're right about that and I've had this. -- our POW guy's known you know is well have been around the league for for -- that. Teams all do whatever they came to gain an edge of and you know you look at the sideline and you do this you do that you do whatever you can it's like trying to feel the catcher's signals and baseball everybody does -- just more flip. In more blatant about it and it may very will be what we've got going on here."

[19:59]" now look I'm not you know. I'm not intimately involved in this one uncovered in my game but. Be aware of more than the only catcher science. Now there's this week I've worked in frustration by the chargers and and they cooled down they came to realize you know two things that we debated very excited as they would have -- And they have I don't they're team that act like idiots do it maybe three players on the team. And it would probably wrong I picked it out with a deplorable and he's dead he was wrong but think about -- telecheck outlet that he enjoyed getting to know -- as probable."

[23:17]" I'm -- it has really any effect at all Armenia on. Just because of it to the player you always hear that in the NFL player that. You know at the players who quiet on and so I don't know I think all of that Atlanta and the impact your idea they're going to have to win that game because it's the patriots and the patriots record it would represent the -- of the NF Saturday -- which is the NFL as beyond. And you know they want to win this game. It has very little to do because it's not going to change the outcome of January 14. -- last year but dating they are going to -- they're going to be ecstatic if they'd come out of box or two now I'll tell you. After the game acknowledged how important that we -- on Sunday once they did not want to go to block oral 11 because they know how difficult it is going to be to come out of there with a victory and -- to produce new coach and with all these expectations of their feelings on the outside believe me date they're giving it gave all the respect in the world."

In watching the game on Sunday as of course for those that are quite aware against the chargers to beat the bears -- three but I kind of thought that maybe they were they looked a little bit tight when they were down three nothing there in the third quarter and think it. While I wonder how much pressures on these guys no one of what they have lying ahead of them on the schedule I'm sure winning that game last Sunday is probably a great big relief."

[24:41]" You want it -- it's funny that on -- before -- game two but I don't think it would have been it open a battered if they at least. -- hopefully it always -- what we're screwed because at least we lost that game. Definitely huge amount of relief now I don't know what they were tight or if they had a couple player network I'd they had took a couple players below. -- or they -- blown out the bears know every football league at bat after every game -- we have done it and it we have done now but you know like characteristic dropped by Ladainian are by Antonio Gates. If the deal they rely -- pressure the jets they'd get -- today on the -- I think may well Brady has not been stellar against the chargers. And hooted out of a normally I I don't know I don't think so because the chargers are able to get after a little bit and they know that got out who what they're going to have to do they're always going to have to do that I think their secondary is better but it's not a great secondary and you know you -- played the bears kind of you know just taken back not let anything get on a month. Might have to do that a little bit now with the receiver that the patriots have on you know they're definitely going to need to get pressure on Tom Brady I would take -- the biggest thing about the game. Is being able to manufacture pressure. Absolutely and -- right because that's what a deal can't be helped off the circuit -- a good offensive line on an offensive lineup but played better across the board -- Mickey -- in the yeah IT VQ right so solidly to target offensive line toward Dalembert. And I did I -- this game three times then I cannot say enough about how good the bears RB I and I don't think that the patriots how. All of the good player card under the dominant player ready to level are that the that the bear out. It -- different kind of defense and and obviously it's you know you got Bill Belichick there and -- not at all -- never been targeted in -- run over a game. Well there are incredible mind you can't do anything on the chargers offense than what they did. On this week I think you'll be entirely different offense a little bit are more wide open. Obviously you know what last."

[28:14]" What do you think about the bears then actually made them standout defensively. In comparison to what perhaps you've seen already of the patriot."

[28:22]" Well alter my Seymour the bears than and the patriots I got it is great here got to watch it on -- yeah. So aggressive that linebackers odd move with the ball I mean it would have been meeting play after play they were right there either -- not a mistake. The guy's gonna have a good. Good game -- and Julio -- all of you I have to keep up well here's your problem. Like I directly that you had double merriment. That John Phillips gets very what are you gonna do -- doubled to Williams and on merriment and any sold to Luis Castillo. You know you don't make sure you dictate the -- offensive line and knowledge -- all Williams pushed push -- bat and that's easier said than done that. Teams have done it obligated a couple times last year are because there'd -- that's absolutely starts with Jamal woods and he would totally dominate dictating the line of scrimmage. On -- last week obvious that seen that happen and you know 90% of their games."

[30:26]" Right well I only got touched -- as you're aware probably Brady -- got -- once last week. Unreal official act it was probably as well as the -- the line and when we played in many many seasons are in many years even certainly in recent memory so in that we are I'm sure the -- feel. You know that that going to be strengthened that that perhaps standing up to San Diego's you know pressure that will be coming will be number -- you know they can handle. I actually think that you know the patriots are going to have a tougher time stopping San Diego's offense and I sort of kind of lean to work when you were talking about the bears -- being really good. I think that's where the patrons will have their toughest matchup is making sure that they don't get beat on the edge by a guy like guilty."

[31:08]" Yeah you don't appear to have that ability to play -- because the players that I talked about. The ability to play straight up and yet. I'm in you know besides I'm glad they didn't don't unbeaten and they didn't think I know I'm a -- and I was able you know yeah what they're doing -- Big -- it really well. And were able. This stuff at target on -- chargers started to do some more -- yeah including -- yeah built rivers did I think yeah. Yeah to wear down -- them they're done and move the home. Club you know with. -- have been subverted darned good game to get bigger people went pink stuff."

[31:47]" Yeah well I can think that the way that this matchup Sunday is that LT is liable to be -- someone maybe even the guys by guy like -- is Thomas I think it's entirely. Possible that the patriots find somebody to basically hit him on every have a football."

[32:02]" Well I think that's -- Philadelphia with its feet and two and and it's just -- the that the chargers know are able to then and that's what happens I'm why Antonio Gates at nine catches for a 107 yards yeah mom. -- what are you gonna do there you knew upended -- what do you do it gate that you're going to be got to LT."

[32:22]" Yeah let's have a right you got to pick your poison that's -- it boils down to and then when you do pick bet you hope that you could be successful enough with that. More so than the other team picking their points."

All aggregate success against the target and -- totally the problem I had taken back to when he was with the vikings want that a couple times with the raiders. I'll bet you without a crappy game and didn't have a quarterback that he has now did -- know. And yet they admit the chargers secondary it's susceptible always has been an until they show -- the bet that they're not then I'm going to -- that."

[33:05]" You know that would be my guess that will be one of the patriots players to target and they also had this equation Kevin that the last time the charge when -- they they beat the crowd out of the patriots 4117 it was a long day for everybody associated influence over the day and Tomlinson -- a great day it was like a 134 yards in a couple of touchdowns so. Add that into the equation San Diego comes in here without any sort of intimidation overcoming -- in the first place."

[33:29]" I don't know any hey you know what it to look at -- a lot of flak for Ian -- here but I don't you can argue with me that the chargers. I think they physically beat the patriots last year and could have won that playoff game. If not with the doubt absolutely furious. When you just speak to your idea of them not be intimidated they have no reason to be there then took hey hey -- to very good. They're at home they might be better than average this year that I mean yeah in terms of showing that they can play with it -- because at a lot of between player from 2005 months even more doubled from last year yeah out there.
