Would we like the patriots to win sure makes our job easier. But isn't life or death not really. Not really not at all on me you know what we -- like for the patriots to win attitudes are better around. Guys are easier to talk to replace a little bit of -- in all hop skip and a jump in their step every day I mean it's sure it's better. You know but if you look at it from a purely talk radio or discussion point of view well you know sometimes we all know at least here in New England that the misery loves company. You know what are Rick pitino once they negativity in this town sucks well it's true but it also is grateful radio. People love to complain of people to bitch and people love to you know -- their gripes that's what talk radio was all about I spent. Quite a bit of time last night because they -- teach journalism at Emerson College in Boston in it's been quite evident that part of a class about that very subject last night. You know negativity sells that's what talk radio is was was was based was talk -- it was it was negativity and having the ability to complain in. Having somebody listen to your complaint. So I would ask you win is this not be you know homer radio it's all homer radio there's nothing biased about this. All we try to do here is present the facts do we think the patriots went well based on what we've seen thus far this week to five weeks. You'd have to say sure absolutely. But that doesn't mean that the cowboys won't win the game it doesn't mean the patriots will win the game. All this is based on. Everyday to this point in time when you put the two teams side by side the cut the -- the the patriots do rate any slight favorite normally the spread as I looked at this morning with four and a half points I think that's about right. You know when you consider home field advantage in its worth you know anywhere from three to six points. What you it's closer three point than he could see this game was put in Foxboro the -- to be about a touchdown favorite which again would be about eight. You know and that's -- the all the respect the cowboys who really if -- cowboy fan or pure fan from another team and you listen to our program and Percival were glad to have you yes this is patriots you know no radio but at the same time I welcome input in and we all welcome input we welcome emails and discussion an opinion from anybody around the league and if you really want to took -- your team great go right ahead to the way. I even cowboy -- you know starting -- events have to admit that and it and let me preface once again by saying if -- new -- a relative newcomer to this program. If you haven't listened. It to the show more to me over much of the last seven years or so that we've been on the air with -- program here. That you don't know that I grew up a -- thing. You don't know that I've I'm born and raised in Texas in my group in Fort Worth the Dallas Cowboys were in my backyard. And the new stadium that they're building now in Arlington, Texas is literally five minutes or what paperwork it's been quite a bit of my time before I left for college at the University of Texas. So and I've been to Texas stadium many times. And can remember the days of you know Eddie Le baron at quarterback. Much less Don Meredith or Craig Morton Rogers Starbucks -- I do go back aways with the Dallas Cowboys. You know in unfortunate consider a guy like brad -- was the longtime -- the cowboys a friend in this industry so I go way back with the cowboys. And I mentioned I think it was Tuesday. We're going to mention late last week and which ones that you know you might think that because of you know how like -- up in my loyalty and fact that it was a cowboy fan for a number of years and really I still -- Are really haven't given that up I've never been a fan of Jerry Jones certainly was never a fan of Barry switzer when he came -- to coach the team but you know like you said we all root for laundry. Especially more so in this -- so I've never stopped rooting for the cowboys silvery blue. I just don't root for some of the individuals and fault. But yes I was a fan of you know you know the triplets you know in -- Troy -- heyday -- Emmitt Smith Michael Irvin -- who could not be that was a power -- And of course that was the last dynasty you know in the NFL prior to a we have currently with the patriots. And I still root for the cowboys in you might think that I am I would be conflicted somewhat. With this weekend's game. But you know actually it it really is actually easy for me to decipher while I'm a fan of the cowboys I'm I would for the patriots. So like I've already said it's the little easier. For everybody when the patriots win. But it doesn't mean that it's life or death and we'll come right back up next a next week with more programming and in present both sides of the story we'll get ready for the next game just like the team. You know out on the field right now is doing as -- you know practice and prepare you know for the cowboys this Sunday. So what are kinda like for you to do -- consider all this and the hype there's already begun. And you know I'm I'm me read in the stuff on line in them look at it. -- all of the newspaper articles and I and I am looking at all the -- in the beginning you know that the TV reports it -- got through watching -- ESPN with Ed -- in Dallas and in -- Knicks covered the patriots in Foxboro and you know talking about how this thing is beginning to build up a little bit between 25 of them teams and and I understand all the hype but I think what -- to realize that both of these teams have ten games left after this week is over. One of these two teams is going to be five in -- it's just the fact of the matter neither team wants to be that team but the season is far from over for the losing team the only thing this week he's going to prove is that. One team. In this little moment this little snapshot at time is going to be a little bit better than the other and it doesn't mean that this team was still be better if both are fortunate to reach the Super Bowl and faced each other again in February. It's just a little snapshot here. And one team's gonna have a slight edge maybe one team. The winner will be the number one team and the power rankings whatever that -- of course we know every website in in in and it's dog you know has a power ranking up. For what that's worth will realize that it's not worth much is just creates conversation and gets people talking and it may be stirs up a little interest but other than that not much -- not really worth anything -- a bowl bid is on the line right. So or would you consider that the hype -- already begun to get to these five little team what I want you to do formally today. Take a look at these rosters I want you to tell me what you think the difference in this game is going to lie. What is the one matchup. On the football field this Sunday in and I and I and I ask this question because. I respect view is as close followers of the patriots in of your cowboy fan you obviously know your team better than any patriot -- is going to know the Dallas Cowboys. So I want you to look at these two teams I want you'd find a match up that you or shorten. You are certain. -- team has a definitive it. Find a matchup that you think your team has a definitive edge in for Sunday. But patriots fans it is you you probably got several what you can choose from I I don't want several I want one. -- what one match up that you know the patriots will win. On Sunday. And of your cowboy fan I want you to look at you know where you'd think the cowboys -- strongest and where you know the cowboys have an edge. Matchup wise over the patriots. Ever body you know gets old -- over talk about the stuff that makes for great media and in good stories but I mean let's face it it's going to be darn near impossible. And even whoever wins this game whether it's New England whether it's Dallas on Sunday. The survivor this game to go six and oh. Is still going to be Vick almost you don't near impossible. For them to do that to -- ten more weeks without a loss so you know could you just don't know what can happen week to week with the injuries or. Or anything else when teams play with a backs against the wall and and we mentioned this we -- this you know a couple of times over the last couple weeks since the conversation first started after I think like we do around here and the fact is is that you know the -- point -- 12 or 13 you know. You know you might have to think in and you're going up against teams that are really playing desperate to even get in the playoffs. You might see a scenario where did you know the pats. The patriots hero of the fourth team in NFL history to do that which pretty cool they have won a team record fifth grade fifth straight game with a 100 yard receiver with Benjamin Watson having his first career hundred yard game 170 yards against the browns and Sunday. The makes five straight games on the patriots have -- what they've had a 100 yard receiver that is a new team record we -- with four straight games. On the -- quarterly this year in quick way back in 1975 but Rusch France's Randy -- Calhoun indeed Johnson each broke the Mark one time in a four game span. This is also the fifth straight game now in which the offense has scored 34 or more points. First time in team in franchise history the they have scored at least 30 points in as many as five consecutive games. Think about the numbers that's pretty good offenses over the years in New England in the first time that the that a team -- five straight games 341 more. Per game over that stretch. Sammy Morris with -- 102 yards on the ground and so on Sunday patriots have had three straight 100 yard rusher. And this the first time that they have had three straight hundred yard rusher since 1995 he believed that. Even when Corey Dillon in his first year here which we -- was extraordinarily it was a good and had almost 1700 yards regret he did have three straight 100 yard games. In that season. With the first time since 95 and 12 years the patriots have had a rusher go for a hundred yards or more in three straight games Tom Brady tied an NFL record. With three touchdowns against the browns so he is tied now the NFL record by throwing for three or more touchdowns in each of the season's first five games. The only other player in league history to do this with Steve young when he played for the 49ers in 1998. So we're -- nine seasons ago.
