[0:01]" Let's go let's go let's go about it out of all. This is patriots playbook elegant man coverage and -- yeah. Thank -- on the seventh round patriots playbook. Breaking down last Sundays game yeah go ahead and -- there because of the fact they're going to vastly over the top next Sunday skiing want to go -- Pie recently that they've won mirror and the rest of the 2000 love and have -- the combat on that they want premier and some of the ones that -- between eight and 51 break even 51 break you know."
[0:34]" He news. John --"
[0:41]" We open up the play -- today on a Thursday and welcome you into the program John brook. Patriots playbook on patriots dot com radio -- and cowboys. To fly there no teams getting set up for Sunday at Texas stadium in Irving. And again as we mentioned on yes -- program. Only the fifth time the fifth time part of it may be believed. Who believe only fifth time in history that 25 an oh or better teams meet the regular season. -- the good."
[1:14]" The fact is is that. You know obviously it's very hard especially in this day and age it is I'm sure many of you were aware of solid kept the ball to to go defeated. For very long obviously the the conversation of you know being undefeated for a season in the 16 -- has already have been talked about it talked about the point where it's kind of like all right do we need to go there anymore. But it will. Continued to be a part of our discussions as I've mentioned already a few times as long as somebody stays undefeated. And it will stay a part of the discussion -- probably until somebody actually does meet or surpass what the Miami Dolphins did back in the 70s. Obviously it's a different scenario now back then it was a 14 game regular season it's 60 now so technically after going 19 you know to surpass with the dolphins defensively -- but. Fifth time in history to five you know 14 to five -- team's network they were better the other four games just in case you were wondering -- you may have seen this already but just in case you haven't in the NFL has -- play in the some real big this week which is why you're seeing ESP NFL network and I mean the hype is out. The hype is definitely you know this if you pretty invention on the national level the hype is definitely -- in fact I just heard Jerry Jones. On the owners slash general manager of the cowboys on. My -- Rico show on ESPN radio this not 15 minutes ago so there definitely building up the high ball over the country. But doing it largely from a cowboys perspective that's what I still believe largely especially now in light though spike gate that kept the count Dallas Cowboys are once again back to being right there if not already there. As America's team. I don't the patriots were after 2001 and to a certain extent over the next three years even through the 2004 Super Bowl. All of a specialist since spike gated area in especially. Because what the patriots are doing in the salary cap era is treated somewhat with his -- is like all. Not the patriots again but -- ever going to lose and I I do think there's a lot of then the around the NFL or when it comes to consider the patriots and so that's why I think. People were going to like you know you know actually I might buy myself rooting for Dallas because they don't want to see the patriots win again. The other four games back in 1921 on November the 13 the Akron pros and the buffalo all Americans. Akron was 7 at the time buffalo was six in all of the time. And on that November 13 they they tied 00 -- about that so that it would both stayed undefeated on November the fourth 1923. Was the second time this occurred. And that would be the -- bulldogs and the Chicago cardinals both teams were five Indo. And the -- bulldogs defeated the cardinals seven to three that day on November the fourth of 1920s then you had to go 50 years before it happened again. You imagine 50 years. October 28 1973. The rams and the vikings playing at Minnesota and Minneapolis. Metropolitan stadium and the vikings and the rams were both six to know that day in the vikings beat the rams at home tendon nine. And then the last time that this occurred as I'm sure patriot fans are definitely aware -- the patriots at home here at that. Gillette stadium back in October the 24 2004. Just three short years ago. In the course -- beat the jets here both team for five you know on the pats on the game 13 to seven. So those are the the previous four times in NFL regular season history that teams at five -- oh or better net during the regular season. So this is still a rare occurrence I realize it's only been three years since that happened but when you consider that there -- 50 years between -- occurrences. In this streak is still as a significant occurrence in the overall scheme of things in the NFL. That a lot of great individual matchups in this game I mean we talk a little about this on yesterday's program if you didn't join us we're asking for EU. In particular whether you're patriots fan or cowboy fan listening to the -- the broadcast we ask where you thought your team. Had a definitive advantage. In what part of the game. What part of the football team what part of the field -- your team hold a definitive advantage over the opposition. Talk about cowboys versus patriots and and vice -- and -- the match ups here are you know the really good even though quite frankly they don't actually go against each other but at the obvious one is is certainly. Randy moss and Terrell Owens they've been talking about the all week obviously -- the humorous little message on his tape on his locker four members of the Dallas media. Taken yesterday you may have seen them on your local sportscast funniest hander on some various -- does and that he wasn't going to take any questions until after the game and calling him so be originally won in the second 81 of course referring to Randy moss and that particular instance which I think is humorous I mean you know. With -- like him or not I mean. Terrel Owens he may be all about trying to you know. Plug Terrell Owens but. The fact is is that he sort of got an reverence to limit. Quite frankly I think we're all kind of used to -- in you know in the one thing that I think the NFL can always uses a little more fun and I actually think. Is sometimes it may be a little bit of a bass backwards way if you like you know if you understand the meaning but I think that's what he's all about. So -- you know it's fine it's okay. Hum but obviously that's the one matchup we've got that you know Tom Brady versus Tony Romo -- got Brady of the present against you know potentially. I've heard in several circles this week the Brady of the future. In Tony Romo. And in part to dispel that. I think you know -- certainly is a different style quarterback in Tom Brady. Like Tony Romo in fact I heard this announced yesterday and I happen to agree with a Romo is a young Brett -- He has a lot of the same characteristics of Brett -- of the quarterback he's got. You know toughness about it he's got that ability to kind of pick a team up when he knows that he needs to pick a team up. On he's got that sort of -- gunslinger mentality where he'll throw a pass into a spot that. He probably should Madonna and he might get he might get picked off but he won't cause him to back down and be afraid to do it again if he thinks that the best way to get the team down -- the obviously didn't have a -- from last week is buffalo but act as the cowboys won the game soul hard to argue with -- overall. Mom any surely get some foot speed in some ability to run out of the pocket and create things where there are -- there is nothing. And so I think that's what a lot of people like about Roma and while he certainly an unfinished unpublished product fact is is that. He's got the capability -- think of leading his team you've got the top two offenses. In the entire NFL matched up. That's -- number one cowboys number two. You've got to or excuse me actually in total offense it's actually cowboys number one by just like five yards. And the patriots number two which you've got the top two scoring offenses in the league the patriots number one of the cowboys number two. So great matchups. On that side of the football on the offenses -- you notice that I mentioned only offensive players in offensive facets and an aspect of the football game. Defensively speaking hum. I think that the battle when you have two very solid teams going at each other. The battle always comes down to the trenches and certainly feel position turn -- it always does when -- of two teams that are of all of like an an equal ability but. This is where I think the Dallas Cowboys have shown the most improvement. From last year to this year they've had a tremendous amount of solidarity inconsistency in this in the play their offensive line I think the cowboys offensive line is vastly improved Marc Colombo local fans here in New England might remember him from his days as a standout offensive tackle at Boston college. And he was a first round draft pick of the Chicago Bears and he got himself hurt early in the process and he was a bust. -- Chicago and he was picked up basically off of the scrap the by the cowboys and even though he struggled at times last year he has had a superlative. Time this year he's a -- he's had a very solid season and cowboys will be count. On Marc Colombo to keep the patriots Ed reg Ed edge rusher out of the -- the back. I think that'll certainly be one key you can look -- obviously can flip it the other side but -- Matt light -- had a tremendous year as well for the patriots. In keeping Tom Brady relatively clean in his Jersey under. But the play of of Colombo on that all of its line with a hundred your rotten at it moved having moved senator. And and Flozell Adams having having made -- better than expected year over the cowboys offensive line. -- has been a huge factor that kept Tony Romo relatively clean as well and that player that line is open up enough lanes especially -- for a guy like Marion Barber who I think is a vastly underrated running back. And it allows. Rowboat to make plays which is what he does best. In that offensive line is the catalyst. But I cowboy offense. And I I I believe that that will be a big factor for the patriots in the game on Sunday whether or not they can actually get penetration. And get by that cowboys that improved cowboys' offensive line. With the front seven and create some havoc now it by giving -- different looks but by on occasion maybe taken that well planned opportunity to blitz. Were jam the box of them fall back in the coverage and and you know that's definitely being worked on by the patriots this week but I really feel that that's going to be the key to the football game on Sunday. How well the patriots defense. Can penetrate that that cowboy offense -- line and caused problems for Roma they can to slow down even a little bit. And you force the cowboys into some second and third and long situations. But I have to go over the top of the you can change the fences again. And put extra coverage back there you know and then and certainly get pressure with your front career or or or or whoever only they decide to rush then I I think that will that will tip but over the patriots favor without too much problem because I do think that while the cowboys defense is improving. We've seen their quickness especially over the last couple weeks. I do think that. The patriot offense will be able to move on the cowboys' defense I I think that they'll probably you know certainly while I think teams will look at what Cleveland did last week. To give the of the patriots a few problems. I think teams -- shall we going to play their game. And I think cowboy offense will on the via patriot offense will be able to move account would be Vince I certainly an account via patriots will be able to get into the 30s on the -- The question is can the patriots deviant hold the cowboy opens down keep them and say the team into the 20s. -- I think the general consensus after listening quite a bit but to the national perspective both on television and radio over the last couple of days. -- expert consensus is that we're going to get a 30 some in the 20s and then football game. And them in the majority of the people think that it will be the patriots in the 30s in the cowboys in the 20s. The spread I've noticed started it. Morning camp and I noticed this morning it's five and a half. So the that the early money is going on the wing with. Because the spread is jump the point point four hours in a five and a half point favorite. On the road. That's that's pretty significant means people think that oh overall. That the patriots are about a touchdown may be a little bit more better than the Dallas Cowboys. -- it's going to come down of the patriots defense at least slowing and confused in the cowboys' offense a few more times -- two times I'm sort of tending to think that this game is going to be a little closer than most people consider although -- respect of the five and a half I think actually is about right right now. I think that's about right I'm I'm angling myself more toward a 3124 or 31 to 27. Type of score for a and that's what I'm feeling now it's you know that's one thing at least right now here on Thursday. As -- that leads me to one night email question of the week for you. It's Thursday people so let's fire off the score predictions I know you've been waiting to do this all week this is the biggest game. In the NFL regular season to this point in time weeks six of the NFL and you've got to five an -- teams going at each other. For only the fifth time in league history. You're dying to get you to -- him here. So I'm not only do I want you. To give me your score prediction on Sunday able I want you to do is -- what you think -- this game will be decided. I just told you were I think it will be decided by the will be in the trenches between the patriots defense and the cowboys offensive line. That's where I think that's the decision the game decision will be -- is there another area of this team that you think. Will decide this turnovers field position patriots offense you know how they can exploit may be -- a guy like Roy Williams or or or Terrance Mathis in the defensive secondary. That's what I want to know from -- web radio at patriots dot com as the email address. You know what already but I repeated 40 anyway case your uninitiated the program here web radio -- patriots dot com. So fire up your score prediction in fire off if you got a decision to make if you've got 80 a definitive idea where you'd think this game hangs in the balance. On the football field. Tell me what you think that competitive imbalance might be 585437482 is the telephone number. Finally five point 37482 we do have a time to get to a game today is a podium today here in the program coming up in about five minutes will lump. [18:03]" Well it's that time of year again we're Sunday means you're doing something football. Whether it's tailgating in the parking lot throwing the pigskin around -- just hang in in in watching the game on the tube it's all about football. And when you're not watching football -- playing football well I think we both know you're thinking football and all that can make you a little Hungary. That's why there's that tasty snack rap from McDonald's snack -- now come in your choice of three flavors you to -- to barbecue honey mustard and ranch and -- available with grilled -- crispy chicken. [20:26]" Red earlier today it was a this morning heavily it was five so it's increased by another half point which tells me in the money still moving the patriots way. A lot of people think the patriots will be able to jump ball over the Dallas Cowboys based on what is being said throughout the country so. You know the the action continues on this game in the notoriety and the interest continues on this game and -- graduate is whether you're patriots fan or cowboys -- the idea years to create some discourse and some conversation and I want to hear from you today web radio at patriots dot com. Who's going to win the game tell me what you think the game will be decided. What part of the football field will this game being decided. What facet of the football game will this game beat decided where's the make -- break area for your particular team. Web radio at patriots dot -- time to get your picks and and your thoughts on the game on Sunday in the meantime this is the tenth game over -- overall. That the Dallas Cowboys in the New England Patriots have -- the football field. After all these years. All these years patriots course -- 1960 Ellis cowboys. Began in 1960s well -- they were an expansion team in the NFL of course they came in with the old AFL for the merge in 1970. But this is the tenth time these two teams have ever faced each other. You think that would have been more over 48 years but really it hasn't been the cowboys' -- they decided seven to two advantage all time over the patriots Dallas won the first seven games the patriots have won the last two. Last game last time these two teams met we talked a little about this yesterday was in 2003 here at Gillette stadium in November of 2003 number 16 was the -- patriots pitched 12 nothing shut out. That -- The last time that the cowboys won it was in 1996 in 1996 and the cowboys won in Dallas which -- the last time these two teams met. In Dallas last two times. They've played here in New England here in Foxboro 2003 in the previous time before that was 1999 which was at 13 to six patriots win the two. That's wins. The last time they played in Dallas was the last and the cowboys won the game was 126 for the cowboys back on the some of the 15 1986 so it's been a while. Since cowboy fans a better chance to see the patriots. At Texas steady. Now that has really no bearing on what's going to happen on -- just a little history lesson four overall that these two teams even though you know they're studying up on each other there isn't a lot of familiarity here. There are some common threads with players who were teammates in college on both rosters medalist you guys and such would fact of the matter is is that the cowboys -- the team that everybody wanted to emulate everybody wanted to copy from the 1970s. And again late 80s right into the early 1990s when they were winning you know their three big Super Bowls in the 90s. Cowboys the team everybody wanted to copy cowboys were. And as I mentioned earlier may still be America's team overall with the like Jerry Jones or not. Patriots have become the team now in the two thousands. That everybody's trying to emulate everybody's trying to -- And probably -- just a little bit so you have the two most recent dynasties. In the National Football League facing off in addition respectable team for five you know. This is the clash of titans who have been with exactly what it is and on top of all of this you probably you have arguably. The two best teams in the NFL certainly within their respective conferences meeting on Sunday. And I'm not dispelling the the the Indianapolis Colts at all. -- we have regular emails listening to us and were colts fans you know and the colts will have every opportunity to prove their worthiness. Coming up on over the fourth on the patriots go to the appreciate and so that that spot that spot will will deal with that another day. But fact is that the cowboys -- to be head and shoulders above everybody else right now on the NFC. And he can certainly make an argument for the pay it patriots being the favorite in the AFC. So yes in week six this could make a Super Bowl preview. It could. Be a Super Bowl preview. The the fact. I'm looking here says that we actually have some cowboys players that might have or to play against patriotism when I'm looking through. Some of the Dallas notes that have been able to go on wanted this week but I don't think that's entirely. At the other few players are on the cowboys team that have actually faced the patriots from either 2001 or two or 19 under 2003 most likely. They can you -- Greg Ellis Ken Hamlin Anthony Henry Terence Newman played in the 2003 game Terrell Owens obviously put against the patriots in the Super Bowl. Roy Williams Jason -- so there are a few cowboys they have faced the patriots are imported -- village it was talked to Craig in South Carolina recruit you don't"
[25:49]" I don't know group -- Well US for fans feelings on this game yup you first Dallas as neat. Balance on offense. In order to sustain drives that is they're running instincts they haven't they these events and well balances. I'll let the well look at it all without players that I fear on there -- that we shut down Whitney there all flipped Ortiz once again the at all and the witnesses demanded. You know it publicity and you know witnessed -- Beckett and -- very quietly. You know renowned in the league I don't think and -- player but he's definitely Ramos playmaker as. Tell -- deep sense. Basically -- secondary that success of this secondary is largely a reaction because they've gotten a decent match. Pass -- on teams. There's secondary is not quick they're not great and it banged up. Roy Williams. That the scariest thing about -- entire game. Because I am I just really -- as Roy Williams you know pull in the old horse collar on. I'm Randy and just take him out and at developing that bothers me about the game I'm completely confident there's going to be at least a 14 point."
[27:31]" While aren't you know your point about the cowboys secondary is an appropriate one because you're right a lot of times. Weaknesses in secondaries are masked by the fact that you were able to get a pass rush with -- front for your front four. So I think the cowboys definitely benefit by the quickness they have in their front seven overall and that allows their secondary to stick with the receiver just as -- just long enough to be able to break on the ball and make a play so."
[27:54]" If anybody can exploit that -- definitely villain and the patriots I mean between them. Personnel -- he they have on their run blocking and in their task protection yes. I'm sorry I am just looking for wet and rainy and you know just have a very good game and I think our passing game has -- to -- our running game."
[28:17]" Yeah I would I would agree with that I think the passing will set it up and I also believe that the the patriots can take a lot of the quickness out of the cowboys front seven by. Digging in dunking in setting a mid range opportunities just to space them out a little bit. Not allow them to get their different substitution package in the game and then when they do you know jam maligned hit him over the top."
[28:38]" Yeah -- I definitely think we're going to be running a lot of misdirection you know to try to compensate -- Words yet but they're speed drills they've run their blitzing and whatnot I just don't think there's anyway analysis -- it would keep us under 30 points and quite frankly I don't think they'll ever going to -- 20."
[29:01]" So give me the score than Greg"
[29:04]" I think -- England 37 Dallas"
[29:09]" 3717 -- right. Greg's on the record thanks --"
[29:17]" And and Gary blows you up lovingly Greg. Lovingly we're going to get the bill that's exactly right all right web radio -- patriots dot com's send us your score prediction your thoughts on the game. Do it now will get to it that we hear from coach Belichick. -- moving right along here and in this situation stuff today. More or so."
[29:40]" More more look at Dallas they're very good good good third down package both sides of the ball good punt return. -- funny game. Pretty good. Very good. Bell Jason European coordinator this year I don't know walker for them or. Oh against you know we know little bit about -- people. Battle it's a little bit -- or -- system. Not not -- completely but there's there's certainly a lot of home and so it played played five games. Played a couple of good teams think they probably won't of their best. It's good thing about the regular season you know 4567 games you get a pretty good look at them whatever they got there's let's say network's college pre season. Was pretty impressed I know you -- trapped her opening day yet I'm curious what are you -- With -- pretty impressive seeing it. Absolutely could you want to 2000 your backs -- Yeah they're both very. You know close great job of passing and he didn't collagen is very for els. Great hands good route runner realistic in the passing game are supposed to effects ambiance and you know hours. There's number examples of that you know Thurman Thomas Terry Sanders I was desperately missing college team. -- getting together through them -- what they did Minnesota was. In Lawrence's one -- senior year Marx's. Software error Lawrence is morality tale. Again I mean they split time but -- when they were in ago are still marvelous life out. Actually awards last year. And it saves situation warrants it more extended. And another -- there it was Ortiz he actually can't use the more experienced veteran players. More involved the passing games you know. Get involved that way it was when it when it -- work on both guys. So just. It was I was pretty impressive to watch and -- you know thrown in usually conducts a quality insane. -- the same position. They don't miss a little Balkans. What's the most dangerous part of whose name. All the individual lot of different ways they got -- collectors and orders that take it one thing -- he's he's good everything can throw the ball down field. Big intermediate throws. Get all of us there's there's a veteran players it -- because Santa pocketing out of pocket I'm by design or not by design. And he just wrong running a major -- there at all. Yeah between our rainy and claim her career ops. It's -- wanted to -- and play coming games Sydney Games order is it so. Well yeah obviously you know he's done well he's done an -- and I want an outspoken about stuff as -- went name. That's that's excellent quarterback rating annoyance though when do you do win and that's. They're almost done you know unfounded so from that standpoint I think there's certainly the good comparison. Turned to smile play him. You know all that I'm not sure that there's. A lot of similar it's -- personal. You know they'd -- there they both definitely have a different style play but they're very effective. I don't know any quarterback. I'm just a lot more concerned about trying to get our team. How many girls the other team's players them -- I'm sure that arsenal. We're really thought more focused trying to get our team ready to go get our players play their best -- a good job coaching. Waivers first the where. Don't you know you saw a lot of in the you know college and I -- in -- he knows. Probably the best player an address is certainly a dynamic player all phases of the game and rushing recovery played Iran the point of attacking injures them from behind. He's got powers that -- sort of about the state it's quick needs tremendous athlete of the pass rusher but he does a lot of things well do many players are well. He's gonna cover joins -- to do what else beating Atlanta three points -- is forced. Phillies have a couple weeks ago of friends and -- is Randy moss -- knows -- best. Throwing -- ball that kind of boring. To a category. Michael any loss means that those kinds of -- now -- from -- like. There are different I mean sure there's some similarities. I think that -- overseers. He's Bill Parcells knows we if you want to find us I don't know the numbers are okay I think we've done. I think we do a better job of protect I don't think we're always us -- where resentment and conscious security this as we shouldn't so therefore think it would continue to do that just a matter time they'll. It was all more frequently so that's -- this special this week you know tells such -- care for him. I think we would it all we can't take care. The numbers are okay but I think we can do to protect. It's Hendry doesn't. Definitely is it that we all of them because the players that are handled the ball well handle it quarters -- security wells they couldn't -- well. Council nobody's pulled out you know he might be okay when somebody is probably when -- They'd you know -- that's good Avery can they turn it over interceptions. Strip sacks and stuff like they do good joke they're looking forward and they got. It recoverable but there number time for -- all you know this comeback all that answer all the plate it was whenever you have -- all. Did you know what words to describe. My great. And -- too. But -- submersible. A bit different in a lot of ways but similar -- But guys. A lot of different things tough. I don't know either one of them would take that as a -- and so. Petticoat both players that they've both done in the systems that week than they've done a lot of different things very well but comfortable. They don't want to hear. Challenge your life back. -- really do what we've talked about the giants' linebackers spent more and in terms of teaching an instructional because again those guys. -- good players but they're good players within our system and doing things that we do and so I think there's good examples of techniques or or the anticipation on all the way you know certain things that they give them. That has application to what we do. So that's it was done it's done done done more in the without Damon on. As each player's different guys as a small ball thing you know one guy and has the play like another but we met -- hall. And we get a certain look from the office it's easy to say well this is how that plays or this is how are going to handle the situation. Just like these guys handled him that's. It's not more that way. There are here two years ago. -- look on his strikers can get a better camp. We're all got examples of -- it shows team this is this is how we did it this work ethic at all making about a player. I would hesitate to do that for something. He -- Meriweather. I think -- for auctions yes brooks has been better. -- on her -- basis you know both in the kicking game and a decent is he showed more plays -- more -- once -- there aren't as good it's also a -- practice. His versatility returns and his point construction mature definitely helps but it would ultimately helps us I mean because his role was. Right -- they're we've gone through a couple transitional things in the secondary you know since the beginning of camp they've you know been -- including last week you know roddick coming back and so I don't think so that was done. Number different personnel situations in the secondary he's the guys on one of the more. Versatile -- that he's done you know moving parts and an entire group. Does he struggled don't I don't handle well I don't know that there's there's always challenges with a it's perfect he makes mistakes in this league. Correct them and then hopefully it doesn't make it again or. Drexel that court for the second time there. Third time season you know he's he's got a lot of learning to do because it -- so many different positions or has played so many different positions of course camp. Again I think in the long run that's that's good for him it's good for us and you know he can handle."
[41:36]" Please surprise -- this your offense your offense call play he pitches. Music is always going to work you should play. -- out here again."
[41:51]" Yeah sure winners Lotta times you you want certain look for a play and you don't get that look in your thinking well this is really. What we are hoping for and it turns out okay that's my father so. But you know any and it comes down to like we always talk about comes down to execution you know in this -- and those all of us. And it's only so much of the game it comes down you know blocking and tackling. Early detection and executions you know sometimes you can be in a good defense and and not stop the voice of punching him in defense that's really not that great and be okay."
[42:30]" Patriots head coach bill ballots from earlier today here at Gillette stadium visit -- members of the patriots media. Still time to get those emails and your prediction your thoughts on the game Sunday. Against the Dallas Cowboys at Texas stadium 4 PM 4:15 PM eastern time kick off. Send us your thoughts web radio at patriots dot com get the some of those a couple of moments right now you know."
[42:52]" Hole and we welcome him. Our good friend Russell Baxter for me is in in -- research coordinator who -- you Russell howry got caught on SOS as the last. You know as well as anybody right would get ready for a little a little brouhaha I find it you know amazing. In the long and storied history the NFL is the a league is certainly pounded home too many of us -- of course the week including yourself. That this is the fifth time in history that 25 -- a team -- squared off in the regular season you know -- I I think that today in in all the years of superlative play. To have this just beat the fifth time that's happened I think it's extraordinary."
[43:28]" Did you -- should -- oddity of him so watered and had two -- way way back on more than modern day either the patriots a couple of years ago with the jets in 2004. And then the other moderate what is this 73 vikings rams match up you -- it does that although I'll -- would be if if -- New England manages to win this weekend and Indianapolis continued to win. We -- he repeated."
[43:54]" their first weeks and I haven't for a second time in the same season yeah that would -- which will be a first in NFL history. So I think that's -- the other thing I'm looking at in the fact is is that I don't think either one of this -- teams has -- the cowboys in the patriots follow under the category but since 2000 and I know you're good with the numbers here 39 teams that finished through five weeks with a winning record did not make the playoffs. Not only the one of these teams -- category but that's a lot of teams that had at a minimum of three and two record and didn't make the play well."
[44:27]" What we make such a big deal led tons of of the start to -- to start spirit I think a lot of times we forget that with every good start with I should say every good start but we -- good starts there's usually usually that falls off and usually -- Salim gets off to a terrible start and it comes out of nowhere area we we have seen we go to Minnesota Vikings it 2003 go off six you know and not make the play off right you know you see the other teams. The what might figure why should they favorites not the right word bet the -- game. Who in 1993 what might indeed be you know pulled the improbable play -- outlet touched the field goal attempt that was meant -- put the dolphins at night into day here. Do you watch the rest of the games that did not make the playoffs. -- the Dallas Cowboys that you're never lost to them again. Los on the all through the thanksgiving game wasn't if so what though you know because I think the raiders coordinator raiders at number years ago might have been -- live big 90 facility they would want their last six games so you know he got a piece steady got to be consistent W -- steady consistent public that they treated about the colts. And so far even -- if you bumps on Monday but sometimes to win like that can be can catapult you to think that Dallas Cowboys who will. Never never never give up despite Tony Romo thrown five interceptions probably another time but he did show issued -- You know there's a lot of time and there's one thing about falling behind this a certain amount -- points Anders I don't think were it is it I kind of draw the correlation does all the bad correlations of about a couple weeks ago did count seven that the Marlins. In the game which in essence you know there was a collapse of their season it's one thing when you reviewed up 7UP in the first panic. And seven out of bed at night. But it turned out they never rally but when you're constantly behind which you never quit and that's what I think he's going to Dallas but it got the onside kick we -- a great rookie Kirk Kirk and Teddy baker kicked twice. But he did it they're -- You are right there yet sub air when I get very emotional ways I got."
[46:39]" He didn't look as partly true. I willow woke I was differently little comeback with the cowboys -- because it's clear the the top game in the league this week it would all respect the other games going on it's pretty easy to see what is it frankly is that look at the rest of the week six schedule I'm not. Terribly intrigued by a lot there a couple of games I think -- to be interesting. And obviously there a couple of games that could be make or break for for some teams the game that it I think matches up -- perhaps a surprisingly good game and certainly could set the winner apart from mom. A lot of teams in the NFC is Washington playing in Green Bay because -- the Redskins at three and one you have the Packers coming off their first loss of four and one at home. And I wonder if this game legitimizes the winner"
[47:26]" I think at some way to does I think some people feel that Green Bay is legitimate because of the start they got off to but then again the way they could not put compared to -- on Sunday night probably -- A few eyebrows in the when he saw -- throw that you know. Pretty bad interception deep in his own territory turn over to miss some for the Packers or should they only turned over the ball five times in their first four games of Guatemala and somebody to turn it over five times. All by themselves but you know the Redskins I think really this story here. And you know the one thing about Washington this offseason. Opposed to many of their off seasons under the the end of Snyder regime is big into a lot of movement this year there weren't a lot of trades there weren't a lot of free agent signings there where a lot of up people and I think they have a roster which are comfortable with he would -- the rookie global broadly entry really solidify the secondary this with a team that was terrible taken away the football electric 12 take -- all of last season 12 to 16 games they had 19. Teens sex last year in 16 games -- 13 already. Played the Detroit Lions were once a week old certainly do that -- but help but 13 sex nonetheless. Their defense has come to play they can run and throw the football they're very balanced and adjacent Cabell has pitted very very solid he continue to get better be weak and and it's real let up from Green Bay loss to Chicago the waiting loss and so -- and I'd like it chances up at lambeau field."
[48:56]" Yeah I was going to lean in toward the same way as far as -- divisional foes for the patriots buffalo has the bye week this week you've got the jets and you've got the dolphins inaction of the jets are at home at one and four. And they're all they're entertaining another disappointment of one and three Philadelphia fair to say that the loser of this one the uphill battle might be too much decline or if Philadelphia loses are they not out of it just because of them being in the NFC."
[49:23]" Well I think they're controlled their defective did the eagles have at least one less game but if they get pulled one towards the -- one at five to take a book -- just get to back the 500 right but the eagles you know this much is the NFC. John you know suddenly looked. At the NFC east and every team in the division has a winning record right now except for that so they can't -- himself to formal they've already lost the game they've lost two divisional games this year they lost at home to Washington they've lost that the giants which he gave up the 12 sacks. So eagle with a loss here and even though we're -- they've already dug himself a pretty sizeable hole as for the New York Jets they just can't seem to get anything going offensively than they scored 24 points last week who want to kick off return. They won't want to fumble return they have no downfield passing game -- advocates throwing the ball unfortunately when when he. He throws that you concede a -- Roger Goodell the corner of it there's just got a lot of support his passes right now it's enabling teams the crowd up the line. And their deep fences I can be very very disappointing before they should look historic you know the eagles would never -- for the jets they're perfectly evident so well but. Here's what else they also about Philly. They need to recapture their once great quarter of the season they played four games. They scored 42 points in the first half of that lions game that the 56 point 1 win. And they scored 42 point two there other 14 quarters combined to residencies of."
[50:57]" Well good stuff Miami looking over their first win and world of hurt literally playing at Cleveland Cleveland that was little better the most people realized they would be by their performance against the wind when last week."
[51:12]" Yeah I would I would say though I would say so I think -- beat the -- seem like they're getting better yeah well I I have."
[51:19]" Would agree that says but I. I would think that the the way that they came in and at least. Cause the New England offense is sort of sit and think about a few things and cause them to a few more three announced the normal. The after gives them credit to Romeo and and in the way that they they schemed and they they did show a little more attention to Randy moss and Brady did not have his best they hackers who wise but again I tend to think that maybe that was more what Cleveland was doing defensively."
[51:43]" Why don't the big question about I think I was more impressed with the with Cleveland on the -- side -- side of the ball I think they've certainly made some strides to bury things like their offense the winds start to get a little --"
[51:54]" Good offense especially consider they they didn't have Jamal Lewis except for one player in the game."
[51:59]" Right at eight and and I think that would say that that's what's impressed me was the fact that. You know he had one carry for 11 yards he'd walk off he'd done for the Derek but -- still continue to run the football with their other back. And that means they had a game plan is designed. And do whatever they wanted to do and they were going to stick with -- regardless of personality got a good. Very very good wide receiver Braylon Edwards. Very very steady traded Intel win club right Derek Anderson going to make your share of mistakes would you concede that they 80. You know after the debacle against Pittsburgh on opening day they have. Showed a lot more confident on the offensive side the ball and that's not really -- if anything we've seen at a Cleveland in about four or five years."
[52:42]" I would agree now. I it's somewhat jokingly mentioned earlier in the week that. Miami and came Cameron he might in the becoming the first new coach to never win a game and they get fired. I don't know that -- Miami but I don't know how they're looking at itself or of they did this this. Can't be a lot of fun for anybody down there especially in a lot of what happened Trent green this last week with a with a concussion."
[53:04]" Yet navy go back to last year they've lost eight games in a row you know you you'd think it many people memories of the Miami Dolphins being one more steady organizations. Throughout the 70s80s and and in the -- but it's it's been it's tough for the last couple years you know the Ricky Williams debacle they had a little surge a couple of years ago a lot of people -- to be a playoff team last season and everything collapsed underneath them and they just seem like they're treading water the big way here and their price enjoy that appeasement is really -- look. Walk to the tune in sure. You know Cleveland in this a team it's expected to win this game and get back to the 500 I think they'll probably struggle a little but I I just don't see the dolphins. Would adopt other than the fact that Ronnie brown is having had died of a year. Especially the last brigades but I don't think he's enough to offset you know -- Cleveland to put -- point put points on the board or just about anybody I think -- hold onto the ball and I think they'll move the ball against Miami's seek --"
[54:06]" the Russell did you just saying things are able to work out and is poorly. As it is going right now in Miami could you foresee a scenario where they would actually welcome Ricky Williams to come back."
[54:17]" Well only if only for the party at the end of the year you know it's turned out to be -- 115 in the air I mean I think again and out of all joking aside now I I don't see it. I don't say yeah I think it's decisions like debt that it you know put the dolphins in the situation that theory it I think they've made a lot of bad decisions they they seem like a franchise and it is kind of lost its way. And you know. Even the selection a -- in junior with all due respect two that draft pick and so -- you know this with a team that was in need of a quarterback I would take in junior is. You know -- players in a player Ohio State but just seems they do do with a lot of swing you know basic job you know and they fought very very far very very fact that --"
[55:08]" Very true -- couple of others that I wanted to look at Russell first of all of your game on Monday night New York Giants he has been game when he -- the giants playing at Atlanta. And it is hard for me to believe this right now the giants. Might be the second best team in the NFC that you could make a case for them on the cowboys."
[55:26]" Well they have made it a great term arrangement between themselves people's sake you know 24 point last week although it was one offensive touchdown that was -- had to give up to kickoff return they gave up a fumble return their defense has really made it quite the turnaround remembered they gave of 45 points 45 point and that opening Sunday night laws. At -- and you know the second gained 35 point -- the Packers they have really doesn't affect are less headquarters they'd give up one offensive touchdown. The first headquarters that you're they gave up 13. So they're really tightened things up and I think affected their playing better keep that enabled them to hang around last week against the jets. And that the debate the place to be able they had to an effect it was 13 cents the rookie Aaron Ross -- returned. An interception for touch on the layup off the -- it."
[56:19]" Right exactly arm. Does Atlanta get better can they get better with with Joey Harrington and the way things are going."
[56:27]" I think Joey Harrington has played. Pretty respectable football yeah I would and these guys feel like he's got a -- I would I would cool mystified at the a point about the game last week. I don't think he was you know really really struggling I think he did seem like Bobby tree that was. Try to go for a change of pace and so but I you know -- he had an interception bounced off the guy's hand I -- little behind of granite but then you know that turned out -- game winning touchdown deflected but it interceptions so. -- mystified that you know to do coaching staff -- I think they're kind of trying to find a way I think that stated things to keep in mind here is any good quarterbacks need to respectable running game and one of the things that Bobby Petrino apparently want to do that he rebate that often supplying. Be more of -- power offense -- to get the ground game going over -- 15 -- is led the league rushing three straight years collide at because of Michael -- falcons at five games this year yet to run for our yards. At any of their --"
[57:28]" three game in the AFC Santo kind of I I can go about one more funny quirky little -- think about the Chinese please do. The falcons are a lot of trouble in this game because they're playing at home right. Another electric as the play at home yes because these last 11 times -- try to -- of played the last 11 this is an NFL record and the way. Of the last 11 tactically to repeat what but it really. What does that mean I don't know but it just means that you know the giants should be you know I think you a little bit like I wouldn't win but you know and -- going to continue this climate to -- need to get it -- you know and if the patriots win the giants win and then there -- only a game out of first place in the division into Chinese -- in the patriots -- and they -- these 15 you know when he beat the last game of the season you never know. You never know if he would ever it's right but I can't be good. Did you know attract lost two times that's right there was certainly a little will believe I just want to drove I want to keep -- paid attention Gary never pays attention."
[58:26]" From 1 O'Clock eastern time kick off Houston playing at Jacksonville I'm intrigued because you know the Texans are 32. Jacksonville we thought would be tough and there are three in one Jacksonville's at home in this one. And the Texans with their heads above water you know in weeks six."
[58:45]" That's -- this is Houston Jacksonville and I probably have more beat numbers coming at hinske going to at a game this week obviously besides knowing -- but that's just rock but. Jacksonville opening week it gives up 282 yards rushing. I had Tennessee Titans loses at home at 282 with a regular season team record for a short to left right. -- the stay in the last three weeks combined they've given up 139 yards rushing in three weeks to a month three weeks combined -- all those games and last week said he -- team record by giving up a week ten yards rushing in their win at Kansas City."
[59:20]" You tell me it's going to be tough for the Texans Iran yes you would think so but I. Okay -- they -- but what -- my favorite stats you know of the week. These Houston Texans. Have basically lost more than twice as many games that they have. I of their history right but their combined 2758 -- entering the week. In 2000 tip in but figured out. That they are -- four versus the Jacksonville Jaguars -- well actually I think I recall them having success I -- I swept them last year but I think we -- all jaguars six of their 27 wins in their franchise's career against Jacksonville."
[1:00:00]" They're dismal 21 and 54 versus the -- the NFL over that span while so they like Jackson -- they love Jacksonville can you give a shot at -- shot on this -- try to get. Because I think it would you can it would Gary Kubiak is even though he might not handle courses about my agreed to help is imperative here he's going to keep running the football he's going to try to keep on in the football and he's now got a quarterback -- he can't run the football they could certainly make plays about -- as good as Jacksonville's defense the wind and they're pretty good basically Henderson and Stroud there really tough against the run you know the young rookie in this second your guys up front Mario Williams who everybody laughed at had to at least respect this year will be equator first round pick -- against forced sex. They're pretty -- in the churches themselves here -- they've been built there being built a different way under Gary Kubiak and Jacksonville. He never -- just never know with them -- just when you start it will confidence about him them. These seem to have that off game it will be interesting if if Houston can pull off the surprise or more time at Jackson"
[1:01:09]" I will mention one of the game briefly just because of the the teams in their records but Tennessee playing at Tampa in a conference thing here in Tennessee at three in one. The Tampa is three -- trying to rebound the is that Tampa got black last week by the colts. But the -- box playing a homer undefeated at home in Tennessee is undefeated playing away from home."
[1:01:30]" Well Tennessee to me I just -- and a I think chip has been a good story so far this year. It certainly is held the package Jeff Garcia's not throw an interception of the game this season last week though they gotta hand it to go to a better team. And not only a better team -- a team that was playing without its starting running back without its prolific perennial pro bowl receiver and without arguably its best defensive player. And still be the -- bay buccaneers like 19 points. Tennessee is really really good on the offense but like they -- under relentlessly their defense is getting better especially -- front line they have not allowed a point in the fourth quarter this year. Buccaneers have you need to get off to a good start -- been good about getting off to good starts this year but I think this is a classic case -- they. Decent NFC team running into a better AF CT."
[1:02:25]" I would agree. All right now I've as we cannot turn our attention finally to the match of the week. Match of the year maybe with the the patriots travel and play the Dallas Cowboys what we think could be a classic certainly offensively speaking. I've got a number for you that you might not have known. You ready for this I'm ready -- did you know that the Dallas Cowboys have not scored a touchdown. Against the knowing the patriots in 20 years."
[1:02:51]" In 20 years 20 years. The last time the last time they played the last I believe that's Sunday night game on our air which -- the 12 duck big game correct. And I believe it timely play before that -- it was New -- I'm -- again 13 -- 613 to six -- before that in -- correct. Was 12 to six that's correct the cowboys beat them -- which was that was in the ubiquitous it's 96 would have been with serious cowboys yes and Bill Parcells is patriots yet here they went to the Super -- correct so logic is dictating you'll probably correct."
[1:03:31]" Yes the last time they scored a touchdown against the New England Patriots franchise was on November the 15 of 1987 in a 2317 overtime win over the patriots."
[1:03:43]" And I believe. -- that overtime -- provide it why it won't touchdown run by one mr. Herschel walker you know that's correct. Very good -- Foxboro the old -- stadium mightily."
[1:03:55]" Yes it was itself -- the last time than they would have scored a touchdown in their home field against the patriots would have been in 1984. In a 20 to 17 cowboy which I believe with the thanksgiving break at this that was the thanksgiving day game but remember the Tony second of 84. -- to the."
[1:04:13]" Well look at nursing is his team -- not played each other that often. The cowboy sweep this series so evident to but knowing what what the last two have to lose the first seventh -- it is an also -- did go to that we led the patriots had never won in Dallas. As for the cowboys go. Their award for the road in this series to some obviously going to give here right especially when you consider just felt good. The New England Patriots have been not only gets a whole week that. They have to wouldn't let like the colts they love playing in the NFC -- and they've won seven in a -- it if you include your three Super Bowl wins. The New England Patriots are 23 of four -- the NFC. Going back to pick up a lot."
[1:04:52]" Which is rather impressive and it certainly give you a bit of an idea of the relative. Strength overall the patriots being you know at or near the top of the AFC overall."
[1:05:01]" Well absolutely pat gillick fit this game is wrought with numbers -- with the history you would get said that if the rare instance that you have a private OT -- of five an OT playing each other. And you all."
[1:05:13]" Conferences by the way as well I think that also -- it is inevitable that sometimes you get a a patriot or you know -- three you know or worn -- team in the same conference."
[1:05:21]" Playing -- totally especially divisional games and so exactly right but of the fact it is in -- conference that adds to the intrigue of possible Super Bowl matchup. -- by the way while we're talking trivia. October 24 1971 is that they immediately think he'd --"
[1:05:38]" October 24 of 71 that would have been."
[1:05:42]" Would that that's the first on the patriots play the count was right yes that was the first game played at Texas State. I'd forgotten that was the very first because October 24 -- actually late in the year later in the year exactly. No -- you know -- Particular don't play cared about there's a lot of pillow intriguing beat yeah hey let's put this way -- the superbowl what got capped by research done for our -- as far as an historic stuff I like it"
[1:06:08]" but let's say I guess let's get on the field here and what what you -- but probably doing the patriot you gotta talk obviously about Tom Brady right now tied an NFL record last week by throwing. At least three touchdown passes in each of -- first five games of the season RO and Steve young -- in 1990 bench that feature speed actually did the first 56 the first set up. He threw to -- six gave the Murton. We gotta talk covering any -- who were there is no reason -- playing the Dallas Cowboys."
[1:06:38]" all he does is great numbers against the cowboys 296 games including playoffs by the early 29675 and ten in the touchdown and and -- just. But your real quick -- for -- talked 515656447587363 at one. -- decent meal most of the length of the touchdown passes he is caught. Well we'll against the Dallas Cowboys while he -- that 400 yard -- says the six and he scored at least one touchdown -- five. Of the -- the doesn't bode will for the secondary doesn't know but speak to that secondary they'll. And it seemed that gave up the chair touchdown passes the first couple weeks will be able developed cowboys have got a little piece -- turn --"
[1:07:24]" Yes they have but I'm glad you brought that up as I know that the you know the the general speaking here the general thinking is that. Cowboys weaker defensively but actually believe it or not because they've improved I think somewhat rapidly over the last few weeks their eighth overall. In total yardage allowed in the league."
[1:07:40]" afford touchdown passes in the opening the windows or -- meeting of the giants. Gave up two border Trent green in the week to win at Miami. Have not given up a touchdown pass since that since the event in the last three games it factored defensive -- it is not given up -- the the last two games and although. When you -- patriots you always have to be concerned with special teams and the last two weeks exceed the outcome would give up OT putt at a kickoff return for a touchdown one the Dante Hall the win over the rim to of course -- the Terrence McGee in the wild Monday night game this past Monday so special teams obviously will play a factor here especially would you be guided Ellis Hobbs who -- medical worker went underneath our kickoff return and Wes -- who always find a way to make an impact on specialty."
[1:08:25]" And quite frankly I'm I'm impressed with Patrick -- I think he plays very well on special teams as well and I think he's a -- for for the cowboys."
[1:08:33]" will -- area that was there's a lot of intrigue here I think you have two teams are playing better defensively but I think it's two teams they can be -- you can move the ball on them you'll sort of be intrigued. You know this is wade Phillips is 314 cents which gave Tom Brady and company little trouble most of the first three quarters of the playoff game lecture people forget. You know the patriots to come back -- three interceptions in banking moved and of course everybody remembers the third one because on the return them or it will be -- Drop the ball and we all know what happened after that but. The first set that game John I'm not sure you remember Tom reed -- to complete 50% of his passes so this three forge a little different than the other 34 worst -- should take different from the three for the Dallas played like strict of course we will place 34 as well and what I think it's 34 defenses are one thing I always think. I didn't do we get to pretty good titans in this game Ben Watson and you mentioned earlier caught by -- touchdown passes. This year usually -- for work right one each of the last three games of these caught at least one before the first five games I think the tight and played very big role this content."
[1:09:44]" Well -- and come off his first career hundred yard receiving game last week so you know the Tom Brady feels more more -- about you know finding Watson certainly not in a safety situation but. Deep because he's got the ability to do that."
[1:09:56]" Yet in. You know the way brief -- to rebel anyway he could mean he can lineup and why now why. Right that they would they do so many different combinations that they can view and so. I mean this is going to be be a great chess match great chess match I think it's and he gave everybody enjoys them. I struggling geico from Howard an hour trying to figure out who our relief I think. Is going to pull this out you know bigbie historian -- wish is that it's New England just to keep the lie that possible that we went indeed match up player until I really can't not had a gap not try to cop out on here no I am not sure parent -- August -- at all because you don't even have a -- you even have an inclination. My inclination to lean toward the patriots to be honest with you because I just think they can do other things that are right and I think this is really even though Dallas got away with one Monday which I think it in some way could be good thing. I'm still waiting to see I'm still teaching the maturity levels -- doubt scale. Okay I really and two I don't want to bring up what today but I'll just be interested to see Terrell -- And just how this plays out if he's not a major factor McCain and during the games he did not have an overly wonderful game Monday night and toward the end of -- game like but he that's saying. I'm not trying to. Be overly large I was very surprised to get ripped the ball -- defenders into the two point conversion a surprising to hang onto that -- near the end of the game. It seemed like the -- Terrell Owens still has some question marks in terms of he had every drop 15 pets for pleasure which would leak right. He still seems to be a little city Randy moss whether -- the other hand is already. On the verge of surpassing all the numbers he put up with -- Oakland last year which is -- saint alot but if say a lot what totaled 16 to the other 113 Eaton I mean he is. -- either comeback player for the gauges the way he's doing things and I think I think impressed me the most was. Last week he really wasn't a definitive part of the team which both ties with the New England Patriots you never know who's going to be the focal point taking place. And I think it also that the perhaps a great job of keeping him under wraps and yet he did hear one -- Or one word for anything from Reading."
[1:12:23]" Now that's true. You know Randy is is that as decided definitively to let his actions on the field. Do most of his talking if not all of this talk and -- I think a lot of people around here in particular heart. Warmed by that it is because. You weren't sure what you're gonna get when you brought a man you thought that maybe the patriot way of doing things he would sort of acquiescing -- fall in line and he has done that and he has exceeded. Those expectations so I think now. This you know behavior that is exhibiting in letting his actions speak for himself -- in you know do all the talking I think that's kind of expected of him to be honest with."
[1:12:57]" Well I think he's -- superlative job of mixing blakey is great report with Tom Brady -- to because agreed to use putting up. Tremendous numbers you know we're a little early comparison the doubt that the touchdown record you would that would keep -- it bail you know from 14 I think 14 touchdown passes in his first five games -- got 60 we're a long ways away from that but what you what we gave the tie an NFL record after five weeks like he did Steve god created peers watching and you know the one thing it's always impressed you about Tom Brady is he just always finds the open guy. And I think he played overly tremendous game last week he looked a little fresher it is very effective -- last week. But what they had to have a score pick up the score because it won't touch on the pequots and that's what. Competing and winning is all about a bit -- basically Pretoria where he threw five picks and so the warm replica but. He still put his team in position with the game that he had been of the evening right he got it done and no one's gonna remember those by -- they're going to remember the fact that the -- put that. One million by the way -- do 53 -- pupil yeah through the operate and they stayed undefeated."
[1:14:15]" Think about the controversy that canister round this week over coaches calling those. Timeouts now after teams are are getting set and and ready to kick the bugle."
[1:14:23]" I see both sides of it and so on but I understand it's -- quit spirit. Of the -- of -- but it it to a degree it is still gamesmanship you know I certainly understand -- you know. If I remember right the raiders instance I'm trying to remember. The time out. We'll we shot I've seen the video I believe the type that would or Ripa called and so Boston just kicked the ball anyway. It was like he kicked the ball and then it though but last week Nicole true do well I don't care go ahead call call -- called a third I've developed what it from 55 yard yeah exactly. But he -- it don't get those -- what looked identical the other were on them it's. I think that it's not what walker element of surprise that only white think kicker Scott be fazed by it I think -- probably do if you were kind."
[1:15:13]" Probably especially now that it's worked a few times but all it took was one miss in -- Oakland as you mentioned in the in Dawson is well in the end. You know all it took was one miss -- coach you're gonna start colony again."
[1:15:25]" Well I mean if you think about it happened three times. The raiders got burned by and then they got revenge for -- okay -- that cities -- plate right and the cowboys kicked twice indeed vote for eagles so Walt. As far as I'm concerned were all caught up."
[1:15:38]" You know I think were even -- all their -- Russell thank you respect of the time with us again today it's always appreciated looking forward to obviously the game here and look toward -- visit again next week should be a lot of -- it would -- yep -- too thanks but he. Russell Baxter ESP N.'S_N._F. L research coordinator. Part of his a weekly visit with -- here on Thursday's inside patriots playbook and you know I think he's right. I personally think at least at this stage it'll be a little closer than most people expected to be and held a lot of the fans think and you know he will be you know. A little bit worse than people were expecting Veba I don't just I'm a little uncomfortable thing to note that way and I'm I'm. Giving the respect for the cowboys not so much because of a lifelong fan of the cowboys but. Fact is is that I think they have a better defense than advertising mention him in the eighth overall in total yardage allowed the getting better they still won a game last week that should have lost. Even in spite of turn in the sixth -- turn the ball over six time they still found a way to win the game and I think good teams. Really good teams. Play like that."
[1:16:46]" Really good teams find a way to win when they just don't have anything going on themselves championship caliber teams. Play like that when they throw the stinker they still find a way to win it. And to me that game against buffalo on Monday night it was a step in the right direction for the cowboys in terms of moving themselves from just a playoff team. To a championship caliber team I think it was that big a league game overall. But the cowboys and so I certainly give -- a tremendous amount of respect and in credit and and think they have every opportunity to win this game on Sunday I'm going to stick I think at least initially -- 31 point 43127. Someone that were prominent and now just a split the difference here and I'll say 34 point 631 point six as well I think when that happens palm. And the patriots with a slight edge for Sunday but I don't think it will be easy at all and that's certainly think he can come down to a final possession game are let's get to me emails in here. Did you take the time to write us in with your score predictions sports Sunday and then will get often said patriots locker room and what you -- what players have to say in advance of via matchup of the cowboys on Sunday. Our number two here inside the play book my name is John -- web radio at the patriots dot com the email address. And will lead off with the -- in Huntington Beach, California uses. First thanks for putting my cowboy Haiti in the email yesterday it's interesting note that earlier today when you mention that people are sick of the patriots won. Such was one of the reasons I do not like the cowboys started following football in high school in the early 90s that said -- guys who in the early 90s thank you from giving fuel Kent comparing -- far I can definitely see that however recognizing it compares of -- Brady or farm to Brady. But just different quarterbacks ready as a gunslinger never will be role on four are the guy and I. Like I told you earlier in the program image early in the -- I think that I heard the analogy that the Tony Romo was younger. Far like quarterback guys you know what that makes a lot of sense to. As he does have that that you know sticking in there even if it's not vote you know supposed to get and their kind of book you know mindset when it comes to trying to you know read that threaded needle with a pass. And obviously we saw last week did it a lot of times you're gonna get -- but that kind of a philosophy put. You know what he's not afraid -- says despite disliking Dallas won't -- I'm not trying trying not to. I do think they have some great players it's hard not to like watching Tony role play. It's impossible not love watching Marion Barber on the ball the markets where is always exciting TO is not a Mike tastiest football -- bond that. It needs coaches single fund that TO fun. I think the difference is that Chad Johnson is really just having good natured fun always TO is always seemed to have an edge to his antics. He -- score close game. Dallas 13 New England 24. Defenses will show up -- Dallas can't stop everything. In the game decider -- I have to agree it's in the trenches but I'd flip it both ways of patriots cannot establish a running game on Dallas New England won't win. That's probably true if the Dallas front line looks like they did against buffalo they got a chance he says here's a question. You feel the Dallas is making too much of this game. I get the feeling their pinning their entire season on this one game if they lose being young team and they fall part of their face even if they win and they may end up with a one week -- It's obvious that they let the New England game get to them on Monday idea that you buffalo credit for trying to Dallas is just not in the game what about after the game. -- the Dallas is making too much this I think they're excited. Certainly to be in this category and it to be in this position good -- even thought they would be five -- notice start in -- we -- Dallas Cowboys since Jerry Jones has been owner. Of the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys have not started the season five you know this the first time and this includes the three Super Bowl championships -- they have in -- those years by you know. So in that regard they are a little bit in uncharted waters here under this particular regime. Now that -- into you know it's you know third different decade. Tandem and it has been awhile since Dallas has been so it's hard to say you know way cowboys act like given that it's been awhile since the and let me also say this before we move on here I do think some credit for the way the cowboys have developed your needs to go to Bill Parcells obviously left behind you know. I velocity if not some talent on the roster for in a wade Phillips and his coaching staff to step into. And I'm sure that's been mentioned more than once. In them. In Dallas circles. So close quite honestly I think you know this is the this is the byproduct of a building process that started. With coach Parcells and now is continuing a bit albeit maybe in a little bit different direction with though wade Phillips so was you know the cowboys are getting there they just they just didn't expect I don't think we get there to this point to have a game of this magnitude in the regular season but this quickly. Policy -- Manchester, New Hampshire says -- 34 cowboys 70 acts and scores the patriots. And Cleveland Browns last week him here we go Heather here we go. Then go cowboys I believe cowboys will prevail they carry a few advantages into the game they're running -- Barbara Jones where the pats the line and linebackers down. Jason Witten will get open have a huge game. Owens will make some place cowboys are at home of the underdog and that will be enough motivation to carry them to victory cowboys -- as -- slowed down the patriot to give the opens good field position. Patriots will score keep it close throughout. But the cowboys played better in the second half they wear teams down to keep attacking until the end of the game. And obviously this -- with dances Dallas 27 patriots. Patriots 21. Thank you and you for the email. On thank you for contributed to show your opinions are are welcome infected that would that the score the -- eight point seven point one think -- I don't for a backup. Neither do neither jimmies Ryder Cup -- thank you -- All right prince of Virginia. Says I have seen most of the cowboys games this year and I notice that for some reason it takes them -- whole quarter to settle in and start playing well. I think this is because Romo just needs time to familiarize himself with the specific -- being point. Dallas is also making a habit of coming back now playing teams in the second half so they lose the first half of the game or if they lose the first obviously is the key of the game is the first quarter. If the patriots can start early and dominate the first quarter Dallas won't be coming back this week -- New England 37 Dallas 13. Thanks prints -- getting out to -- good start is important for the patriots it's important anytime you go on the road. But what eagle on the road against a quality opponent you want to take the crowd out of the game as quickly as possible -- you get off to good starting get a lead in forced the home team to play from behind early. You're going to be that much better off no doubt about that it's a good analogy Thomas in the he -- beautiful Virginia Beach. -- need to start strong running the ball. To create the play action pass spread the ball around. In the second and third quarters and then finish with hard nosed running its final score will be 40 to 33 -- take the win. Definitely -- high scoring -- there thank you -- at one point here four we get into the locker room pat. Says I think the cowboys are a good team for where they are the NFC. They blew out every team they played against in the NFC except in your giants and what the dreadful dolphins and bills scored 20 points plus on them. Headed in the chargers titans jags -- in the Oakland -- raiders he says yeah oats down. I've had played on Monday night it would have been a steam rolling victory for those teams I'll have to believe if anyone of those teams we're in the NFC in Dallas plays they would be five in or maybe 41 really. Patriots got the AFC east by the balls and aces gave Dallas and Dallas give the other -- a chance to win there is a huge difference is between the best of the AFC and the NFC. Another thing Diaw is not as much to worry about -- Witten. Witnessed more receptions were yards -- touchdowns analyst he's asleep or on this matchup TO just talks a lot is treating this like a playoff game. Well they all are patriots know too well. How to handle these title games especially on the road. I personally feel more comfortable with a -- playing elsewhere except for the playoffs. Even mr. Hollywood Ellis Hobbs knows it's only weeks six I'm not going to say pats go 60 you know but this is not where they lose. -- win big in big D 3513. In -- is quick question I don't know -- dimensional -- but every team in the NFL has patches for the captains and I noticed the patriots captains don't. Why is that. That's a good question here -- I don't but I -- there -- you've -- that -- the you have to know that the patriots. -- to their own -- to their own drummer so the fact of the patriots don't have a player what they see for captain on their jerseys it does not surprise me in the least. And the patriots do have they did elect captains during the pre season. Some questions we didn't hear being asked Rodney Harris. How much extra work will he have to compensate for not having regenerative. Medication his muscles atrophy and him being any less imposing they've been and what we need to do competence well the way that I understand you know healing in HGH polygamist I'm not a doctor and I plan on radio. But the fact is is that. Would you take eight GH it helps the recoup relative process. Com and can help you regenerate I guess the issue in the fiber somewhat faster. But it doesn't mean that it won't regenerate or or or build back up. If you don't take the medicine. You can still do with the old fashioned way you know. Lift weights stretching exercises all those kind of things you know that the regular workout regiment -- just takes you longer to get the place GH does. Excuse me as I understand it is it will speed up the process so just because he's not necessarily on the H -- does that mean anything is going to shrivel up an atrophy. And and and make him -- less imposing physical player that's not what will happen at all. All he's -- his continued his regular regiment in the and you income level Lofton and and go from there so I think that's. Again by my understanding that's most likely that listeners scenario here and you'll probably see more immoral Rodney yours in this week you probably see. More and more players in trying to match -- certainly a guy like Jason Witten what they will be a key player for the cowboys is a lot of people already mentioned in a lot of people or surmised -- Probably CEO Rodney paying little attention to a guy like Terrell Owens is well and in I also think that Russell Baxter touched on this briefly now I also think that the patriots should be and probably happen in this week working on. You know. Strip the ball. Because of of -- and some what questionable pants. So when the ball does get -- him my guess is they're going to come after the football. So you probably see a defensive effort made the patriots site to go after the ball is best and as hard as they possibly can I think that also could be key because of the cowboys. Do turn the ball over against the patriots even after it over as much that it against the bills. But cowboys' turn over -- the patriots it will be a 3714 -- doubt in my mind diploma. Because patriots are that good but the cowboys are good team. For exactly as you mentioned that earlier for where they are in the NFC and patriots don't come and play. And they let the cowboys stay in the game. And they end and they managed to turn over once or twice to allow the cowboys you know short yardage opportunities to get into the end zone. Even though we know the patriots have improved a little bit of the -- only still had some problems defensively at the red -- this point I'm but certainly the cowboys can't win. The football. One more here where we get -- the locker room this comes from nick Nixon is it would seem to me that the pads -- at each level of the game accepting wonder -- line versus their D line that the line versus their O line. There's special teams for through their cheese they Dallas that will be -- down field ready much more mature in the pocket and ball gently Brady bonds the opening and Romo for Romo forces alot. Receiving corps match up you always shows up it's a credit to the -- Is that Dallas kicking game well I think that it is much more dependable. But he says -- 42 cowboys 26. Says he has -- to have captains that you not distinguished themselves but he anything but their leadership. And that's horrible ones -- pitchers just don't signify. There captain on the field the C monitors like a lot of teams. Are let's get inside the patriots locker room as we promised. Fact of the matter is is that -- a lot of -- opportunity this week to hear from some -- in the locker room on their preparations for the cowboys it's a big games we want the players to give you their thoughts as well as we can sit here we can -- and we can give New York our thoughts and we can read your emails and I can tell you I think he's going to happen and that's all fine and well. And how the players approach. And other economic predictions where you they never do. But that you find out these guys in the locker room down the hallway here certainly have nothing but the utmost respect the cowboys know that they would -- final team from the opponent on the other side of the field is also undefeated like you more. That's going to -- respect and they know the focus of the NFL this week is on this game. So this is the big stage this is the bright spotlight this Sunday afternoon game. Patriots are used to we'll find out how used would the cowboys find that if that kind of focus affects the cowboys. All right coming up in the locker room well we'll start it off with Tom Brady patriots quarterback. That would middle linebacker Mike Vrabel linebacker Rosevelt Colvin quarterback Ellis Hobbs safety Rodney Harrison. Running back Sammy Morris and then two wide receivers to wrap it up at Wes Welker and Donte' Stallworth so Brady very able Colvin Hobbs. Harris and Maurice Welker and Stallworth. All with their opinions on the preparations for the Dallas Cowboys inside the patriots locker room here in the play book"
[1:32:23]" already or -- There should be should be good game should be game mr. dimarco yesterday's. And presents some different challenges very tough team you play our best. They're good in all facets and anyone who watched that game knows that there -- never out of its last Monday night. They're working out there should be should be fun. But they're they're very active I got a great friends -- play makers and secondary completely league in turnovers. But the to a lot of good things what I do a lot of things really well. I stroked the ball a pity in a simple as that rushed past -- they stopped the run. Been on the road so so it's a factor with the crowd noise. -- it -- not -- offense it's the long worked together hopefully the better we play you know we're still get to know each other -- laden and group. It I don't know. And they just try to put -- best you can I think that's I've always approached it like you never try to go out there and he gets them. Have confidence in yourself that you won't play better. There right. And it's hit it and that is an L has over the attend games -- hundred that's that's going to you know it it's very thing at them in the playoffs it doesn't. Bruises."
[1:34:29]" Thank -- holly better. What in particular."
[1:34:40]" Now I think everyone's trying to do things better each week you take that that things -- you learn from last year. The call with try to protect the ball it's -- quarterback two record. Protect the ball on the pocket trying to make better decisions."
[1:34:57]" But I but I think in overall I think we've. Hopefully we we can continue to look to run the ball it would run and and cause problems for a defense than that we've become. We can run and -- you know want to become one dimension I think more so than anything with this offense is on this. We've been a threat we run and we've been at their throats they want to play. But he pass coverage know try to limit and that's great for them. How similar they they I think that this is similar scheme obviously think coach and I think coach is comedy -- They're very -- players that this team has has very talented linebackers a lot like San Diego does a big front. Redondo as the big guys that are so one deputy defense that penetrates the line of scrimmage and guys the secondary to make place though. Hopefully -- play Bayern in the last summer -- played against them San Diego. I'm hopeful that. Yeah remember that so well. I was that suitable of those -- numbers through taller. And -- scored 12 points you put it appeared -- better. I think we kicked the botched vehicles that but it depends but grew up. -- and it. I'm really really it's it's. Than -- regular season game for us and there's a lot of became yours. They're very tough team we need to play our best game I think that's what it comes down to -- great defense who tax the quarterback Texas football. And and the very good at what they do so. I don't think of fitness than anything more than really is which is another game on our schedule that it's another game that we're hoping to play their best big improvements."
[1:37:22]" Thanks guys."
[1:37:27]" Singled."
[1:37:33]" 88. I meant that we all know. Are pretty much proven players that -- can -- different systems play. Positions -- I think we can pretty much you know -- that situation really -- It"
[1:37:59]" you know I mean it's certainly big game because that's for us we. We try to approach them. I think that we last week it would move past that part where we get home. But certainly. It is going to be this -- is. Let them play players -- I mean -- one sorry that they feel that way you know I don't play that way. And start feel that way and and removal from the -- I'd hate to build great. Great players I think you know we try to do -- well. -- backus you know whether that's during the game that after the he really he helps us you know get ready I think it that thing he does he has prepared. --"
[1:39:19]" John a lot of people want to hear about them. So let's let's keep it to me. You you get right every week now I don't know I mean in the count what you are bigger. They do and they do win Wheaton it -- department I think the thing is it's not just. Getting open mean he catches the ball a lot of respect for guys it but don't drop. And he does not problem and if it's thrown troll means catch the ball in the -- and -- he produces in in the tough situations. When they gotta have it you know there's what was. It well it is every week I mean every week because every but every team has means this league I think you have to have guys and you team that. That obviously can make the big place in our jobs have guys that I can Urbana and you know whether it's Rodney James and you know -- with his range back there and then a cup and our corners. It's really those guys covering and then you know the front guys whoever it is Russian -- not given the opportunity to throw the ball 60 yards after you've got to have a little bit of time so. -- it it's a collective. Group you know process that really know eliminates a big place and then in the running game it's just getting guys the ball. Well you know just didn't take a look at him this morning. You know certainly not early in the year. You know -- the buffalo game I think they they stopped themselves you know really in the next. They're they're there they're good football team and I think that when their offense is planned well. In the defense is able to to play on top and into rush the passer and play really aggressive. Be a great challenge I think -- but he has the trust that football team lot of football games so for a lot of yards. He knows -- know who we know where his play makers -- and I think he's doing this year -- he's dumping the ball snapped a force of America turning him in there. He's got good backs that that wants to catch the ball for two or three yards and can run for."
[1:41:40]" Here yeah yeah I don't remember a whole lot Scioscia -- You know I just their physical football team I think that's that's the way they were with with bill and I think this same team in that their their physical group they they. You look and you see 18 scores a lot of sports don't necessarily think of him as a physical football team that they are well on the line for about."
[1:42:05]" It's going to put it."
[1:42:08]" My trammell."
[1:42:16]" There yeah definitely just like every we come -- we want to stop the run when you look at put emphasis on not giving up because he's just because you can play a great game abusers are within seconds left -- because and you lose so I think it's important that we just continue to. You know. Be the focus on the fundamentals this blocking tackles communication and -- what you can do that you know you give yourself opportunities to. Be successful and so if we can go down there and an extra two game plan properly than you know we give ourselves a chance for the stars today we exit our restart because guys environment and watch him and so today's continuation of we can. Can do we can."
[1:43:02]" like TO gets foot specialist and in."
[1:43:05]" We love I don't think you can focus everything just solely on him think -- there's across the world so things. Going you going try to take one thing away so like pick your poison so I think it's important to have all of them guys. On defense focused on one what she gets the job done. You -- second afternoon also soon about the -- that point because in the passing game legacy that the play breaks down. Again at that point was over he can easily go through them again in the running game you know Jones and partly that things that going to want him. It's going to be important that we get them that's the ball -- before I was there by the league would do so you know if we win our game -- the vessel with happy with them. I think it was exciting CD game I think buffalo. You know they've made a lot of plays tells me a lot of plays in the and it becomes an execution and it could be dead last ten seconds of the game -- don't execute properly or. As in the got to keep if you going to two seconds to kick the ball. That's that's when you that's what you want as a player as a Georgia team -- to do this to coaches -- it was a pleasure in McCain got the victory. Subtle change anything that we can do. Are we can do well in practice this week to prepare ourselves and put ourselves in the position where we came -- and we get opportunity we become those those. That rapidly greatly later I mean that's their opinion whatever they want to say is what -- Wednesday the games over. They feel like that situation they want all my bad. And I think they're pretty good obviously you like you said the stats and the numbers speak for themselves. But again it's it's just it's a tough talents and across the board as can be -- who grew up in slope that -- offense down so we've never been a team to back down things -- try to -- on you know fundamentally go -- and try to. Get the game plan down I -- earlier in the you know we can do a couple of meant that we go out. Execute and you know the chips fall where they -- and hope within the -- in the world."
[1:45:31]" Calvin all of."
[1:45:33]" Each and every week off each and every week you face of an opponent back in. Do they want to do you for his face the Russian victim -- a thousand yards you face received the tickets a lot of balls 1000 yards it a quarterback this table office muscle. Did you and we get figured you brought them prepare yourself as that this the only week which is how we try to do things and you know you'd better suited him better prepared to what they're. And be you know successful with you know you set out to do well. When you don't do that that's where you can surprises this week is situation we can and I think. The combination of our coaches that put game plans together at the gas committing themselves to prepare themselves in the weight room on the field in the practice do. And then committed themselves to going mountain doing in the game. Has resulted in where we are right now the -- helpless you know what we've done you know try to keep working hard hoping -- It's about revels in it."
[1:46:25]" Rosey Colvin. It."
[1:46:28]" Knows that this is good to go home -- for them because you know home yet to bring them out of the game however we go -- that he's going to bring him there. I'm right in my backyard if it's possible 15 you know I played in the -- you know where. No pop -- you know. Playoffs Texas high school football this and that then -- off Astacio made him so to be excited nasty you know. I'm I'm used to that I know with wood with mister green with the same time -- in my own territory goes lines. -- let's thankful you know that's what I go out and change -- the you know I'm always moment for myself when I'm out -- in the offseason and that's when. You know actually go back think that's right in the -- you know it is and to be out there I think and -- out of time so you know. That's what I get paid to do that's on -- if -- well worth it. I think you can just cut out all the other stuff it is what it would mean to me. You know if there is another win it's another step in the right direction obviously with my family movie you know. Very hopeful for winning in this and then I'll I'll live to give its moment let's keep in perspective we just want to let them win -- that -- that --"
[1:47:58]" I'd like to treat every game game but at this event and that is no denying that. -- yeah yeah."
[1:48:05]" You know we'll let you got type we'll let the media do all those types of things because you know 1 loss. This season asking him you know even if we win we knew if we lose a win over. This season has continued that doesn't mean into the season anybody in this is no protection for anything else. Keeping it would it is that the -- the big game other than yuppies that is what. No he's just -- go get a man. One those guys is. You know all the ball to whom you can make hopefully way you know you can knock him Collins said that you -- not quite so great you know it's -- the well you know what type of person he is gone off the field. But we feel that there it makes plays and just have to be aware of all the -- where he that's what autonomy parties -- Just both of office. It's explode highways. You know we think is about being negative -- and so positive where. Those guys they got so many athletes over there and they got some few players even at quarterback position where you know it every play is you know no you can't let -- We noticed it but basically -- just -- guy this you know it's it's very. Good it would he you know. Being able to run around. Make plays make plays also in the box in the and he has its versatility on the bought anything on top with a with a ball in he received his hand where it hasn't tyco's. But he had a job but over his own deepest in there in the and I think -- give me -- move his feet you know get outside the pocket and continued -- live up on the it it has it benefitted and negative anyway. Obviously in the battle of the list I had to do another guy like did Aaron you meant the -- don't I have my -- over this though. You know compliments of Viacom."
[1:50:04]" so it I don't have a -- of a quarterback I think that's about in that list. You know to go out there and a have you know -- got -- game with the come out with the victory means you can on the look at the development of this -- we feel one game. You know personally would like. That's really -- you want to come back a bit so you know work -- at -- game. But that's not -- if not in the home though I think that in this but the -- on. No -- soon -- in existence on -- and that you know whether it was making agrees quarterback of the wars it. Capital do."
[1:50:55]" That is Ellis Hobbs patriots cornerback as we continue inside -- play -- Thursday. Will go back into the locker room a just couple moments and pick it up Rodney Harrison but the week six injury report is out and we wanted to bring you up to date on did not. And who did participate in practice today as far as the patriots concerned out of practice today were Wesley Britt and Mel Mitchell same thing as yesterday Mitchell as an injured going Britain held that team decision limited participation in practice today Brady Randall gay game Copeland Laurence Maroney Steve O'Neill -- on to Samuel Donte' Stallworth the day with Thomas and Kelly Washington. -- O'Neal's was full participation in practice two days but latest. Injury report -- patriots cowboys have not yet released there is assuming that will probably come in the next hour or so. All right as we wrap up the program puts it back inside the patriots locker room. With Rodney Harris and followed by Sammy Morris Wes Welker and the Donte' Stallworth."
[1:52:00]" I was rooting for anyone -- been really matters just. Had a chance to bag get some rest and and down study their team and go when they have definitely. It."
[1:52:14]" Very physical on defense on the solo special teams explosive offensively to run the -- pass off. You know aside from the game against buffalo coming -- played tremendous showed tremendous poise made a lot of plays and looks like golf pro right now. It I think I think it's like that every week but probably more opponent because this is the best team that we face. Thus far so this this be -- measures they've forced to see where we're at we're going to get tested all three phases of the game and great opportunity force. Just as good player big physical -- right after the catch. Shows a big in big games most of the time.
