[0:00]" Well let's go let's go -- without a golf wanna go thought why that they've won mirror excuse patriots playbook -- And I thought that they want me here. Breaking down last Sunday's game -- man coverage and it don't. They got I'm on the seventh round Nixon these gatorade for the break Jack do okay we'll get the bunt on third floor every. Braves even -- anyone break the rest of the 2000 Vatican yeah go ahead and handed him because of back. The top and some of the points that -- between. Government can't we look inside the club house up for the week. John Brooks baker would look for Wednesday and."
[0:49]" Oh point six Miami Dolphins this Sunday at dolphins stadium in the 1 O'Clock eastern time kickoff will give the other good stuff out of Colorado the bat web radio at patriots dot com that the email address web radio -- dot com few that time for phone call like at that they point 5 wait 543748 who. That's the number but is -- he suggested just -- moments ago we are kind of locked and loaded today is coming up in ten minutes standard or CBS sports will be joining the schedule the joys at that time and then approximately 25 minutes from now Harvey Greene is the senior Vice President of media relations with the Miami Dolphins. And he has been a frequent contributor in years past on this program whenever it is been -- squished fish week he's been kind enough to come on and give us his viewpoint and you've often been brutally honest. When it comes to his football team that he worked for that being the Miami Dolphins and I think we've got some questions to ask him they like. I come you guys suck -- What's good went on here and -- and I know we had a -- mean it was yesterday ask you know what your -- them. Why the dolphins have fallen so far so fast and and I think that's a great question for Harvey -- and so that outcome appeared about 25 minutes bet you we also have conference calls or later on in the program that we will what you're listening in on the patriots media members visiting with the dolphins head coach cam Cameron and dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor who by the way must also be extremely frustrated over what is transpiring with his football team right now in the course -- time permits a Bill Belichick a little bit later on in the program so we got a full docket a couple of things that I wanted to kind of get off. Run up top here have to do with the fact that you know I heard on him as a half an hour or so ago all --"
[2:47]" Actually logged on to be able to have to listen to little book program prior to joining boys. And I guess there was an email or some that'd came up two the extent of the it was a little bit too early to to get into to probable talked. And my guess is is that whoever that he mailer was didn't quite get the full context of what we were talking about yesterday yes I was asking for -- pro -- selections. And I guess my impression was that you that it was way too early to -- in talking about probable. Well again full context is required here when we started talking about yesterday because that's when the on line voting portion of the program started. Yesterday and it's perhaps. And I'm just just kind of the on this out here but it's perhaps it because of attitudes like that the patriot players get distant approval voting because you wait until too late before it matters. You know some people actually step up in like vote for the players that they like and keep voting as much as they can't get those votes in early and often as the saying goes. And the reason I brought it -- is number one. The voting online launched on NFL dot com yesterday number two because patriots fans have always. In recent memory at least on -- we've been doing they shall have always basically said how come we don't get any respect when it comes to pull -- voting. Because you don't take the time to do it that's why in a nutshell. And so you know I actually agree would you react way to early disturb them about pro -- six games to a 16 game schedule. And it's kind of nuts but you know given the fact that it's -- six Miami that were playing this week. Okay and given the fact that you know we normally nitpick on -- over the you know little things that we know that really need to be improved with this football team and I spent majority of guys that programming telling you how dominant. This -- team was and certainly could stack up to be in the all time annals of NFL history. What the hell else is there with me here a little -- people you know all. Even if you don't like I just humor me for a couple minutes shall we do we have to really dissect and analyze the -- six Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. Two days after a 21 point win over what was perceived to have been the best team in the NFC. Currently a little slack. A little police that's what we're here for we're here to talk about these kinds of things if you really into the -- in the -- Of trying to you know disseminate how the patriots are going to dissect and analyze the Miami Dolphins themselves. I'm not quite sure that this is your program and nor do I think -- WM progress in your program. I mean we'd do that interview listen they show. For any amount of time at all over this previous six seasons that we've been on the air here patriots dot com radio okay -- you know the we spent a lot of time next thing you know in effect on Thursday is -- my favorite times we have Russell Baxter and from ESPN because that's all we do. We talk about the pluses and minuses we -- the -- the -- you know have been eager to -- in the wise. Of book. Of that not only that the patriots and their opponent that week but we take a look at to select games around the NFL that particular we can do the very same thing of those games. You know dare I say we get into a little bit more depth than you know prediction Thursday -- POW in progress although respect those guys they give their excellence grit and that certainly will equipped to do Beckett pitching these -- about Russell Baxter who lives eats breathes and sleeps football 24 hours today 365 days a year I'd like to have that job. But a lot of people would like to have that job so the point here is that you know we do some things as we say in the intro to this program. And a lot of the fun stuff in the point. Well that's what yesterday was it was some of the fun stuff in between. You certainly have a right not to participate in any. You know email question of the day or whatever it is that I throw out there but you know would be -- little -- All right if you really want the Xs and don't you really need that you know then -- means you send me a note and usage John I really need. I need eat that. Xs and knows I'm crazy big Xs and knows give me you know something that I can chew on before next Sunday. And I'll do my very best to get that you also -- the number of a psychiatrist that you looked -- you know pissed I don't even the guys down the hallway at Gillette and do that all the time. So and just just you know food -- armed VO latest in case you just -- in under the program on terms of the players course the physically and at a unable to perform list after six weeks guys are eligible Kamal blister return to practice if they're healthy. And out of practice earlier today animal or fielded behind Gillette stadium. World wide receiver Chad Jackson and cornerback Eddie Jackson. They both openly your on the PUP so they were present at least for the media portion of practice today that having been said of course now the clock -- started and those guys the patriots have 21 days to make a decision on whether or not to put both of those Jackson's on the active roster. Or on season ending injured reserve. Now Richard Seymour and Troy brown the other players on PUP. We're not present at least for the media portion of practice. Doesn't mean that the -- coming off but they were not present so it rule we're we're led to believe that they're not ready yet. And I mentioned yesterday that there are only 15 of the 32 teams in the NFL who have players on the PUP. And the patriots were only one of three teams in the entire NFL that ahead of more than one player on PUP. And so that's the update on the on the physically unable to perform players and again. Time is going to tell that we will probably no more at least I would imagine by approximately 4 O'Clock eastern time this afternoon when -- First injury report for the dolphins game on Sunday comes out and whether or not either one of those guys are listed and if they're not well again you've got three more weeks to decide. You get up to nine weeks to get three more weeks to decide what you need to do about a player player can stay on the PUP again for up -- nine weeks so. The you've still got plenty of time to decide what to do about Seymour brown for the rest of this year. But that's the current status with the PUP guys since today was the first day back at practice after the of the six week Mark. On also today a practice Sammy Morris and Benjamin Watson along when Mel Mitchell not present for the media access portion. Of the workout and -- thanks to Mike Kris from Boston dot com for that little tidbit more us apparently in the -- espn.com. Well is reporting today if you hadn't seen this that there actually quoting a source that the of the Boston Herald. An original reports I guess we should give original contribution -- the Boston Herald on this one. But -- the deal is is that -- Hurt the bone connecting the sternum to the clavicle in this is according to the Boston Herald. And espn.com which is sort of parenting that today currently he's a lot of pain and he could miss up to a month. That's obviously not very good news for the patriots especially because we're not entirely certain what Laurence Maroney status is now. Mulroney was one of those guys of course. That was out of practice today at least for the media portion for a short while also stand to reason that he could be back to play. And that's what we're waiting to find out so it may be that guy likes anymore could be out for -- two month. Benjamin Watson. Well also with his injured ankle was not a part of the practice earlier today. So we don't know what the official status is what mr. Watson and double figure that'll put but it's on the injury report he is listed later today. -- does that mean we have against. Okay very good at this time."
[11:03]" I'd like to welcome in I'm sure you're very familiar with a gentleman. And Theodore who calls games on CBS television for the NFL and be paired up with Greg -- this weekend for the patriots playing at the Miami Dolphins Dan thank you so much for taking a couple of minutes of your time -- today. Not a problem glad to do it that. A bomb first and foremost. Are you of the opinion like so many of the people seem to be the cover of the NFL on a full time basis that the patriots are one of the best teams that maybe you've seen in quite some time in the top."
[11:32]" Yes that's it you know it it started. With the off season they haven't and and knowing the quality of of the people with that they picked up in an awesome Welker and Stallworth Lynn and I. I thought they host -- was where it's clearly. One of the ten best defensive players in the NFL last year and you know you could make an argument maybe he was a top five guy defensively and and -- given additional like that. So yeah I I thought it was an astonishing offseason for the patriots additions to area I'd already really -- roster now. I I think it's too early for a coronation after six games but I think if you. Really follow this -- have followed a for a long time I think you have to realize that there were looking at a football team that they've finished the way they started it is going to be -- that through -- 14 where you talked about. Could this be one of the best teams ever assembled did they have a chance to be either good."
[12:40]" Dan it's kind of funny you say that only because I asked her fans yesterday what's the one team. In your NFL memory that you remember being as dominant and you could go back -- your childhood days a year earlier adult days and remember those teams that always seemed to be a nemesis in for me. A dominant team was a team like the 79 Steelers. Yeah I think there was. Couple of those so 49ers teams in the late 80s and even in the early 90s and another a lot of fans that could go back as far as like the 62 Green Bay Packers dominant team in your memory."
[13:11]" All of the 85 bears I think you have to include that group because of that that -- there -- there was just littered with with pro -- great football players Dan -- and Mike singletary -- on on -- they were just they were loaded. Grandstand then. You understand that that's a team we try to forget about -- I understand because not all I all other finished off Europe -- let them by winning a super ball idea that that was that this addition of the patriots the -- it's true. But that and I I think if you were you know if you were going to have five. If you were going to boil it down to your. Discussion point was -- that are around five of the best teams of all time but I think most NFL historians would include the 85 bears there in those top five -- I agree with you you'd you'd pick one of those viewers teams you'd pick one of the 49ers squads from the 80s. You know you'd you'd you'd maybe you have to think about one of the Dallas one of the Palestinians with -- Aikman and Smith that nervous it and and -- the great defenses that they had and that your -- go back grabbed one of the Packers -- you know that the what golf every one in Miami is when you have these discussions you know. And and most people when they have these discussions don't include the other thing. -- dolphins Stephen just since everybody by every over the --"
[14:37]" I'm going to understand that I mean after all. Nobody I -- unable to do that so why dont we include a team"
[14:44]" I don't because I article you look at that team there was littered with Hall of Fame football players that you and I guess maybe it was because they work. Crushing on defense they didn't have been the you know even though they had you know the spot economy and they had good -- players that they didn't have anybody over there like but -- sir Laurence Taylor or. A single side I don't know why they don't give included but they they just don't seem to make the cut in reprisal wild."
[15:14]" While I can understand why that wouldn't I and then I'm guessing because this team. That they currently about there -- six doesn't seem to have well let's put it this way the light at the end of the tunnel. Does not necessarily mean an opening it could be the upcoming freight train."
[15:28]" The all know it could be it's so this is of football team that that's got a long way to go from appellate standpoint. You know the one thing -- review breakdown on the roster the patriots and and and I can't fight the whole. The old league is the -- if you want to call it a weakness is the urge you talking about this before I came on the uncertainty that the running back position right. It'll -- stay healthy how badly is more certain now -- If you if you looked at every position on this football team defensive backs linebackers do you live. -- damned office supply at wide receiver -- that you really have to get all the way to the running back before you even get. But semi little question Mark. That's their and that's society of -- when you have balanced like that when you when you don't have a war the you have to try to hide that you have to try to put makeup on that hopefully the opposition doesn't buy that man that's what you are really good that it doesn't happen in this day -- very often when you haven't spelt the roster -- the patriots have now."
[16:36]" Debuted or visiting with us here inside the patriots playbook -- an email yesterday and say well if we're going to lose a guy like -- Sammy Morris for a -- and of Laurence Maroney doesn't come back I mean. Should we go back in and ask Corey Dillon to come out of retirement I'm like well first of all. We don't know yet about -- second of all we do have a guy on the roster named Kevin Faulk and I realize that Faulk. He had 50 yards I think it was last week in the team rushed for a season low 75 what was during the game. But it seemed to me that the game plan wasn't necessarily to stop the ball down the cowboys throats that they did what they wanted to do an opening up the passing game so. The running back spot is a sore spot right now would you advocate going to find out if there's -- up that they can help on what --"
[17:20]" Yeah all right up at you know again I'm you'd have to build injury status of over everybody and -- you know obviously you don't have to do that if Laurence Maroney can stay healthy. If you figure Lawrence back out on the field it and keep him healthy and no I don't think you gotta go position it lets face it there. -- Tom Brady's comfort zone and been running the shotgun if there was a team in this league that could succeed by not running the football at all that might be the patriots. You know could spread the field go to the shot got to let Tom -- he tied the game I'd you know you could. But -- they won't do that about not I'm not advocating doing that but I think everybody could pull off it would be this --"
[18:05]" Yeah I would think so I mean the weapons that he has at his disposal of course being the argument that we always get into with fans. Has to do with it who's a better quarterback and it's really not -- you know an argument really could they bulk of unbelievable talent but when you compare. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and now in the years past. We talked about well Manning has different weapons at his disposal that Brady Beverly had. And that obviously he has that and if you see the numbers while they're not only comparable Brady's actually look ahead of Manny can we finally put this who's better argument to rest."
[18:43]" Thanks -- the subjected to totally subjective sure -- and it you know that your what are you arguing about it you're you're you're arguing whether in 1964 chateau Margo was better -- keep Rothschild three. They're just did -- but you know you're you're you're down to splitting such errors yes you have to you have two quarterbacks. Who are playing the game. At a different level than everybody else and yet you can argue all day long which one's better which one to do this which one to do that I noticed that. Their two quarterbacks that the adult bullets. Because the bullets firm there it is there's certain death and and that's not true. For the vast majority quarterback sort of ever play this game -- most of the quarterbacks to ever play this game -- to rattle them two -- these two is the pay the price at all pay I see them both all the time I'm I'm a Michigan guy and and so obviously I have a soft spot in my heart for Tom -- idea if you -- Payton getting into this offense I have a sneaking suspicion he'll still -- of football. I would think so yeah any vice -- and -- everybody interpret that you regret Tom Brady is capable of running that offence he could go to that line of scrimmage and he could run the whole deal at the life just -- doesn't and let me tell you -- you don't say that about very many other people -- what -- does is really complicated Tom -- could pull off intensely."
[20:21]" Dan two point questions about the game this weekend number one if you look at the patriots roster and I'm sure you've looked a little film already in some videotape and try to would do Samir homer before the game but. What impresses you the most is there one thing that stands out that you -- you kind of think in while."
[20:40]" Well it's it's -- distribution of the football indeed it is it is. And you wouldn't know what it means to lock onto a receiver Tom has just reached a point with this offense and and and give judgment -- some credit these two guys are are really operating as it's like once signal unit but it's a way to come works the entire field yes yeah. You got ready Boston red ready -- factor which. You know that it Wes Welker and Donte' Stallworth but after every game should just went by -- his -- broke thank you thank you thank you could just for being there. Because with a double coverage that he's going to -- his -- for everybody -- but I I look at Tom -- as a guy -- just seeing the entire field from sideline to sideline -- just so effortlessly it seems just sifting through his -- in his progression and finding the -- it's -- it's been awhile -- a quarterback as comfortable -- has -- things -- is right now -- and the -- passing game -- it's -- thing of -- that the game -- I didn't get a couple weeks ago where you know there was -- everybody -- well let's just -- You just really considerable you know didn't really is he's he just never ever seems to be rattled uncomfortable or unsure of himself and -- that's a position that's almost you know uncertainty is almost part and parcel playing quarterback -- because of the -- defenses will confuse you and Tom just -- he just seems to be above it."
[22:22]" Second question on the game on Sunday after the dolphins and as you've been able to put a finger on a major reason why the -- seemed to have burst in south Florida."
[22:32]" All right ethic I don't exactly what their problem -- they're they're probably felt they have they have a hole and their roster from poor drafting. And poor personnel management that they are paying the price for right now that tell you little spat about the dolphins that is pretty hard to believe. But the Miami Dolphins do not have a single player on their roster. From their 989920020012002 and 2003 draft. Good lord really. They have six consecutive drafts. Where they don't have a single player on their roster from most drafts. In those would be the players. That would be 45 to 30 years old right now there would be pretty you know the backbone of the football team and they're not there. Well let's every -- yep that's our excellent it's really yeah. Doubled on that -- today you have it's just I guess pressures surgical Sunday but -- you know you ask me a yes bigger question -- that that's. They've they've they've just. They have huge -- poles and their roster and there's no quick fix for the Miami Dolphins it's it's going to take turmoil would come out of the full."
[24:00]" And I appreciate your sharing that with though us today and look for the listening to you guys on Sunday."
[24:05]" Not a problem always always always a -- Thank you did not about."
[24:09]" And -- for -- for CBS sports. And the national put bully will be covering the patriots game with Greg Gumbel on Sunday afternoon 1 PM eastern time -- dolphins stadium in Miami floor all right good stuff that's a great nugget and guess what you got it here first. I so when he mentioned that on national television on Sunday it's after I heard him say that inside the playbook you remember where you're right below -- human -- did you first but -- actually good in I guess you know it's certainly stands to reason and it makes a lot of sense. Why this team struggled so mightily in terms of well in terms the talent they have on the field I mean six straight years. Without a single draft choice from any of those draft from 98 through 2003 that's extraordinary. You have to do really bad jobless screwing up in order to achieve. Something like that that's that's flat out amazing -- we can take that a step further."
[25:09]" All the senior Vice President of media relations for the Miami Dolphins party green who has been contributed to our program in the past joins us now here in such patriots playbook Harvey it is. Great to talk to begin number one I'm just sorry that your job it's kind of tough right now."
[25:25]" Well it would be you know it's still the NFL and you guys -- a year ago when the patriots came down -- you never know it's gonna happen they've got -- six but the beauty of this game is that -- to question although we -- at any given Sunday so hopefully we'll have a good game but couldn't get -- a -- will be -- hit that home field advantage for us."
[25:45]" Let me ask you the question that was going to obvious the most pats fans. Here yesterday when we're era learning about Chris chambers leaving for San Diego is this part of Miami waving the white flag."
[25:56]" Now not only we've got some veterans on this team who's Kelly wouldn't think that way into the head coach doesn't believe that -- this and I can't say yes stated Italy killing a way to try to improve as quickly as possible on the EU. Haven't lineup changes -- every NFL team guys year after year because created seriously try to do the best you can two to change your -- to improve as quickly she can end and obviously when you went six you know you you make -- that maybe would do if you were six and only have different goals. But certainly our coaches made the point that -- all of our goal -- when every game we play on every Sunday but it's the same town we have to do things that we think will help us improve on on both the short arm and a long term basis. I think Chris is part of the great. Petition to San Diego but we also think getting a second round pick is gonna be a great about for us as well as we yes we do try to improve this team and go -- different direction where you know that that's different then then where the first six games across."
[26:57]" well -- the Owens extends element to everybody focuses on one year old of only what two teams in the NFL -- game yet that having been said. Tell us what you think has gone well for this team what has been a rights."
[27:10]" But I think first of all and then -- end. People in the -- exceeded because they -- Ronnie brown -- I think people expected him to eventually have a breakout season when you're the second pick of the draft if you hit on that can certainly aptitude for years he -- I think -- has has proven to -- certainly I have to people he's played against the last four games -- hopefully he's working his way -- to -- that. He can do two things which makes him real dangerous. One is that you know he can run the ball which we do win and and we saw -- And tell you which we've sought to what extent that it can catch the ball but I think the thing that's the surprising. A little bit now hopefully we can continue with his durability and -- as you might remember. He -- backfield dude with a with a Cadillac -- associate with past two years ago as a rookie he should've backed -- with Ricky Williams. He stated so much flashier but now he's getting 28 point five carried. He's getting maybe four or five catches we're talking about perhaps 30 touches the ball game and insult -- into private that kind of environments. So he's kind of come into -- of the last four games and in part because of the improved player offensive line you know there are some problems early on there was some criticism the you have about the cubs would have to drop at the line coach those problems shouldn't let her -- and it he's got a great job with the players he has around them. Including a rookie it's national I think capitalized that -- bright spot you know again when your own six there are some errors -- that haven't played well quite honestly it and then in some cases pretty evident. But there also some bad that I have played well I think that the offensive -- Ronnie give us chances to win games -- and -- on the road too -- we lost by a field also. We are doing something right now we just need to prove although there isn't correct one we're not."
[28:56]" Well it would appear certainly statistically speaking that Ronnie brown if you go to guy does not only is -- rushing. He leads -- receiving effect he had more catches I believe the chambers did before he he left to roster yesterday so. You know what can this team then do at this stage based on what your wrote -- privy to to keep teams from loading up to try to stop."
[29:16]" Ronnie brown well helped the focus I think for the -- players know offensively having good work well women Derek Higgins hit Guillen. David Martin all young plays with a lot of talent have to step deposition is we say yes that we made the trade. Neither are we getting a second round pick but it's also an opportunity to get a guy like kid who was in ninth pick in the draft. Get him some more look at -- repetitions down on the field and he was in ninth pick overall. Decade it was a typical third round pick he's -- player. And so we need to get these guys on the field and see what they can do in in that they were brought to the expectations we have. It's clear no love played like we think he's capable of -- that David -- continue to improve. Then then there -- pet detective and take some of the burden off right into the you're right until we can prove it on the defensive coordinator. Now the first and trying to pick Ryan -- at a game and go from there. And the only way we can prevent that from happening frankly that's what were younger players now played at a level that we can -- and though I think given the opportunity show that. How do you think it Cleo Lemon is going to stood up to the challenger this far end what's his upside or do you see him growing. Quayle has more guy one that they that he played the last games start let in the area in Indianapolis a year ago in the top environments so. You know he's he's got a little -- on -- under his belt so to speak. And I think he's got great athleticism mine's got a good arm the -- the one problem frankly is is is experience when he played in in the arena league. Hasn't had much time of the NFL had a good training camp played well appreciate games. But if you don't know it'll lose the expectation level as a starting -- quarterback so much greater. And that decision making needs to deal level that you'd you'd have to have to play winning football you can't make bad decisions can't force Croshere can't turn the ball over. I think for any young quarterback Tom Brady seems to it one exception you know eat out. Placed Mark. Play within yourself and and as a coach said that you know kick the habit when adversaries don't turn the ball or if you get a punter -- field -- but that's certainly far preferable than that the excel at -- played intelligently and any smart guy and and -- with each game. That he has the ability certainly to be a good quarterback in this way but in and -- young players what direction they're -- some. As you all know who would tell right off the started where sales people might be issue last week treble takes awhile before they weren't the speed of the game -- haven't -- in and make smart decisions."
[31:52]" degree of the Miami Dolphins there senior Vice President of media relations doing this year in side the play book is though. The patriots of course travel to Miami to take on the dolphins this Sunday at old stadium 1 PM eastern time kick off. What can you tell us about Trent green not only president but about his future and is there any real. -- thought that he could return this year."
[32:14]" That's a good question and a follow on your show about three L personnel might be giving you a different answer because -- coach you're -- You know pocket immediate today case transferable availability of men and -- natural gets more information I after that but the bottom line is Trent yes they -- the last of his medical testing now. Knows what all the results where he went back quickly to Kansas City this is Steve position who treated him -- concussion a year ago with the chief so they're able to compare apples to apples in terms of what has baseline that -- And Trent can coaches and that is heavily you know people get the ball medical staff for going to figure out what's best for Trent. And what's best for the team so I don't know what the answer is your right. People of has stayed patient go back right now and play in her -- were saying he should retire. So Beltran -- a competitor you got to see them a little bit sure no one want to play more he does no one wants to win more need. But it same token tried to smart guy had a family man and he's not going to do anything that's -- jeopardizing his long term well being all the while being of the future with the Stanley. So it's a complex decision it's not like a knee injury where you know it's going to take time inhaling you can measure this has really an area that -- it's it's as much art as this is science. And granted our medical staff and his family in our coaching -- after -- what we think it's -- direction ago. So that's a lot like for saying I don't know yet right we should know one a couple of hours."
[33:41]" Now good bench could stuff. Well I think most patriots fan Harvey realize that the part of the Miami team that has given the patriots most trouble over the years. Certainly recent years has been on the defensive side of the football and I guess maybe that's the most alarming thing from a patriot perspective as to this -- six start is. How come this the offense is struggling in so I would kind of point the question did you what about this these fences. Causing some of the problems."
[34:06]" You know it's funny because I don't have the numbers in front of me but I bet if you looked at Tom Brady's. Quarterback percentage -- quarterback rating against our defense consolidations certainly we haven't that a playoff Albertine during most this. Tenure in the league it's it's it's probably a lot worse than it is. For everybody else to promote good teams he's faced I don't know why you know would like I think we've done a good job with at a good -- here in past years. And it held given Ratajczak it'll go I think Americans can totally shut down. But it's been intriguing addition -- talked about that -- a conference call to his New England media that we've had had success against armed ready but I I think part of that is. With a deep sense that's frankly different than the one we have now for better for us you know we we have changes in our secondary we we watch some players brought her -- Joey porter you know Jason I believe still playing at a high level so Zach Thomas that we catch them some deficiencies elsewhere and it's been tough to make up for that BO UT can't give up 20220 yards rushing you can't give up third down conversion rate of eight of 11 you know you've got the pitcher -- sent off the field. -- give your offense a chance but the -- deep -- break you know we we do have about like Keith Traylor and Jason's neck and Vonnie Holliday when he -- And you know it's talked at he's got to play 556065 snaps a game. So that the real probably faced defensively. It's twofold one is we have to be better on third down it's great -- stop from 11 down if you stop -- second doubts but if we're going to -- fences and third of 83 at nine you need to be able to make a play it's what different compared to do. We have been able to do that. The second area where we struggled frankly is in the areas of the turnovers you know we need to create -- short -- for our offense. And we have been able to do that we haven't been able to turn the football they're either via interception -- fumble recovery team and and that's that are probably the last couple years so. For us it's a situation defensively where we need to eight get off the field. And then if we can't at the very least. Creates turnovers so we can give our offense 50 yards to go instead of wants -- factor. Coach gets reported something out which which I didn't realize we had some penalties and one of -- tries last year. The last week I'm sorry. Then actually when you add up all the yards we gain -- and one of our touchdown drive it was over a hundred yards so we actually had to move the ball over a hundred yards. To score -- touchdown. Don't get -- would make and if you do that you need to have some sequences we are needed to move the ball 40 or 30 yards and you know where that happened -- turn over special teams play."
[36:47]" Sure we brought up the coach and obviously cam Cameron -- first year as head coach there -- having great success and his assistant most recently. As an offensive coordinator at San Diego how difficult. Has his tenure so -- Miami really bent."
[37:01]" Well in LA coach it is they're real good job in an independent keeping a team focus in staying positive you know. It's very easy to get down hill at six but you know -- is if you saw last week you know we're -- point 43 it would have been easy to get used to divert began to wave a white panel. We could do that you know we played hard came back in and we want to gamble at once because of the lack of effort. I think from that standpoint if this goes back to -- the very beginning when he took over you want to team's character. He he made some changes on our roster to two to do that. I think we're seeing -- you know it's easy -- it to be a team when you're winning but it's a lot tougher to do that when you're rooting adversity test your character I think the fact our guys are still enthusiastic still playing hard shows that his decision to emphasize character in -- additions he's made of some distractions he's made has paid off now we just had the chance potential wins and losses."
[37:56]" Right -- thank you get for visiting with us today it's great to talk to -- doing it -- sometimes -- actual -- listening on the weekend you've got a heart rate. Senior Vice President media relations for the Miami Dolphins Jonas here inside the playbook. But on this Wednesday -- good to come on win or lose no matter what the situation is and we appreciate -- taking some time to look. Try to sort of decipher what's really going this Miami team we have a hard time figuring that -- but. From time to time why is this team -- sneaks -- is just because they stink 1 about a instincts well. Shuttle a lot of the subject there's so that was group are -- to do that quite frankly having most patriots fans know already anyway. But anytime that the patriots stepped foot in south Florida. There and for battle. I said this yesterday also it today and I'll probably say it again tomorrow. That I don't think this is a slam dunk foregone conclusion the patriots are gonna stomp all over. -- whether the patriots will when the game sure it. Obviously the odds makers agree there book -- of this morning 68 and a half point favorite thing was the last spread that I saw. So do the the paper to win absolutely. But I do think and I mentioned this specifically in yesterday's program that it wouldn't surprise me at all to see -- still a game in the third quarter. Before the patriots eventually pull away in much in the same fashion that they did against the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. I can see this being game one possession game a one score game a touchdown lead or somewhere thereabouts. In the third quarter early in the third midway through the third before the patriots score again it kind of link and thanks. And you know that even though one year is different from the next. One year's personnel as divert from the next. And this year's game really has had no influence -- bearing on anything that has ever transpired. In Miami before. And yet history dictates that this is a tough. Place but the New England Patriots to play football if you have been a patriots fan. For any extent the time. You know that every time that they going to south Florida it is a difficult thing. Something happens whether it's you know I don't know. And over charged in over hyped and over you know. Psyched up Miami team is up for the occasion or patriot team comes in as an underdog. In Miami was put to roll the patriots give my helluva game something always happens overall. The series between going to Miami this is the 84 time in their history. That they will meet on Sunday it is their 42 year is division foes together. Patriots have won seven of the last 11 games overall against the dolphins and six of the last nine however. Miami as 13 of the last five in this series. We also know the last couple years impeccable it was in the last suitable year in 2004 patriots went down there and even the game didn't really mean much in the overall scheme of things. They still -- So who knows -- think that they'll lose on Sunday not really. But I'm saying nobody here should be surprised if this game turns at the beat Tupper struggle that you may think it is here on Wednesday in the middle of the week. But that the right thank you very much trio. Always good figured -- tipping his two cents -- Well overall the series stands at Miami 47 wins New England at 33 wins the record in Miami the patriots have won eight games and lost 31. So kissed maybe that sort of underscores what I'm talking about here in the fact that this team has struggled. In south Florida. Eight and 31 including a 11 record in the playoffs their record at dolphins stadium which was pro player which was Joe Robbie. Before that six wins and 14 losses. At dolphin stadium will be on Sunday six and 14. So -- and by the way Bill Belichick he is record."
[42:24]" As a head coach in Miami or head coach versus Miami seven wins nine losses. Although his record against Miami -- coach of the patriots is seven wins seven losses of one two's. Go to the -- so again it dictates that this is for whatever reason no matter the relative strengths of the two teams. This has always been a problematic here I'm not necessarily running a red flag or merely explaining the numbers to you as they are going into this game and you were left of your own volition to decide for yourself what you believe what you don't believable transpire on Sunday but don't be surprised if it's a struggle now. Of course -- they did come out like half a hundred on the beat him in or embarrassed from 52 to ten well -- you come back in his glossy look at older. You know we do that we're gonna do well of course you do it. And you'd have to say that the odds favor that kind of a game more so than that struggle that I've been trying to describe here but the history. All of the heat matchup between the patriots and dolphins indicates that it could be a struggle. Based on what has transpired in the past or just merely point four. Why some teams seem to always match up well against others -- why you think that he is not only in just let the patriots dolphins case although you can certainly include it. The patriots in the -- in in your particular argument here but why do you think it is that somehow. No matter the relative strengths of the team no matter of the year something just always historically seemed to have trouble. With the same team year after year after here why is that. And we don't have to hold this to just football it could be any sport could you always see I mean -- the Red Sox always have trouble with the Yankees. The Celtics have always had trouble with the Lakers you know you know over the years -- the Bruins have always had trouble with the Canadians a meatless let's face you know maybe it's just because there's rivalries -- I don't know. That's why I'm asking you web radio at patriots dot com what are your thoughts on that are let's get to feel the emails from early today -- in -- sent this note schism. I saw a list of Dallas -- coaches in a felony of Chan Gailey I don't he failed when a playoff game but was he good coach. Well I think -- Chan -- got the job at least that Dallas that it was sort of surprised a lot of people I know that he had had a reputation of being good solid coach but. He had never been a head coach I don't believe at that lectured -- on that level. In so it was thought of is that it was a bit of a stretch at the time now Chan -- good solid fundamental guy but you know could he be a leader of men. Ultimately didn't quite pan out for him although like the keys hit at least some success certainly at the collegiate level where he's now the head coach at Georgia Tech. Bomb but yes technically I think pretty good football coach. He says I agree with yesterday's listeners that -- TO is -- to blow it -- the cowboys team apart and -- used to seeing Ed -- blonde watched actual -- well you know -- Ed -- kind of reminds me Pedro Gomez from ESPN Gomez was once stuck with the Barry Bonds beat. Like Ed werder has the cowboys beat. In and there are a lot of times it I would interview and talk with Pedro Gomez on like -- so sorry for you. You -- put up with his project to date -- you probably don't -- go to work they get off again the third on that in today. So it probably is a little like that at some point for a quarter but -- that is the job and that's why they pay -- the box that's the way it works. Are at this from comes from Alex who says what type of game with the dolphins and patriots back in the days of Dan Marino. Was it always that's ugly. Arm well let's see for instance let's go back a little bit in the count here -- I don't."
[55:57]" Have all the of the games of the history between the two teams here but just give you some some for instance -- back in the days of Marino let's go with the early to mid 90s they played it. That Joe Robbie stadium and then in the course then with renamed pro players let's go the stretch between 1990s. And say who won 1998. But pretty much encompasses his career their right connect. I all I know always is when the patriots played the dolphins earlier in the year in other words when they played down there in like September October 1 it was really hot. You know in very unseasonable the patriots never won a game there they lost in fact in the in the month of September and October. Playing the dolphins. In Miami in September October from 1971 through 2003 the last time they played early in the year there the patriots were a grand total of one and 13. And the only when was the last one in 2003 which was October the 19 human that was the overtime game Troy brown cut the big pass. Now we have the pitcher I think Steve Byrd from channel -- still hanging up somewhere there at the studio cheering George touched down but that was in 1913 that's the only way the only went over that amount of time when they play the dolphins at least early in the season. Course the last couple years they played -- later in the year and other going back to playing him in October against so. I don't know maybe it's the time a year maybe if the weather -- the humidity maybe that has something to do with it yeah I don't know but it -- the patriots never. Had success from 90 to 98. They'll 1710381730 then 35 point four and in 129 in overtime so -- it was always ugly but let's just say that they did just enough to get beat. That's really kind of what it boils down question bomb. While so. Well it's -- here. From Bogota -- friend Alejandro what kept Jimmie Johnson putting together a championship team in Miami. It's and stop draft choices Thomas Taylor medicine's Japan was Reno fault. Now doubtful. I don't know the Jimmy Johnson when he came back after retiring from the cowboys were moving on from the Dallas -- with. Nobody ever really headed in his heart to give back and coach and the guy he loves his vote he loves to fish she loves to get out and do things. I mean he's he's always mean Janis Joplin with one of his high school classmates for goodness -- dog bit of a free spirit. You know Jimmy wants -- things on -- terms and when he doesn't can't do things entirely in his term I don't know that he's lock stock and barrel sold. And so I got the impression that when he had their brief stay with the dolphins he just wasn't lock stock and barrel sold into you know doing it. So I think that more than anything else probably has to do with why you didn't put together you know -- you know at least in his limited amount of time there while he didn't put together a -- team. Okay"
[59:06]" since this one oh with the patriots win the AFC east with -- quarterback for the entire season."
[59:15]" The question. Based on what we've seen us for the AFC east I'd have to say yeah. Yeah not just because of the support -- I mean you know how bad could it be if you bank -- the one Randy Marshall in in Wes Welker. You have to say yes it still in the east based on you know the other guys you know failing to keep up. Who'll get the goal line carries this weekend Evans or tackle my guess would be evans' first then -- I assume -- won't be in there this leads me to my next question better play this week and Faulk versus Miami. Cotchery versus Cincinnati it has flexed position I am not a a fantasy expert but I would tell you I'd go Cotchery versus Cincinnati with Watson out do you think Kyle Brady will be okay still. It in fantasy. Or it's immoral waiver pickup of -- tight in the I go with Kyle Brady if Watson here with Watson being out. I'll be flying to Florida tomorrow okay there you go because you're getting a gentleman's club let me know."
[1:00:13]" If that"
[1:00:15]" good studies is the white Jersey -- Jersey will be making its appearance. I'm sure that the European W guys will be thrilled thrilled strippers absolutely thrilled here we go this comes from Mark with a -- from New Hampshire good game against the cowboys. Got a little nervous Witten wide open that drive where Rodney couldn't cover him is that a look at what the colts game in Dallas Clark going to look like. I would have to say however the James Sanders kid looks really good is he rod these replacement when he is all done. By the way oh that's a that's a note to Fred -- believe that personal hum I would say."
[1:00:55]" James Sanders well. Yes I mean I I would say that he's probably leaning that direction you don't play somebody apparently you think you can he has the opportunity to. To be there long haul and so with. When Rodney is now. Sanders being in their -- still getting an appreciable amount of time you'd have to say that at least initially that would appear to be the way -- the patriots are winning but you'd never can tell. You know from well not so much week to week -- both from season to season depending upon you know who they. With a draft I mean quite frankly I think a guy like Brandon Meriweather could end up you know playing in that particular slot whether that is next year or two years from now or five years from now I certainly he's going to figure into that equation at some point. This one comes that was -- that I think -- says if the pats have home field for the playoffs clinched after game 14. And the pets are undefeated this bill still start Brady and go for 16 you know or rest the starters. We started actually talking about this a couple of weeks ago. You know I think stubborn pride more than anything else Republican deployed. And because of that I think the guys was to blow up there in and the starters will play now. I don't think that the stars will play you know a full 60 minutes or awful 50 minutes even you might see them play a half. Why I think in in the system that I mentioned several weeks ago when we first to talk about this whole ludicrous idea of 16 -- that that we -- last probably two -- clinched not only the division but you clinch home field advantage to a playoff. It really doesn't make much sense to keep everybody out there for the entire game. Why would you pick a chance of losing somebody to injury in a meaningless game when you still have. You know the big cheesecake at the end of the tunnel you know -- in the suitable. So could I see the team play and a half absolutely. And then let the let the back of coming -- what is going to happen to make it -- like a glorified. Pre season game I personally could see that scenario I think it's a believable scenario in in likely in in very plausible doesn't mean it's going to happen but I don't think anybody should be surprised that the does. That was it 1 morning here before we get off to a Jason Taylor. -- from him says guys just read that both Chad Jackson -- rejection are big taking part in the media practice session today. I guess that means -- 21 days to activate him to the roster do you think either or both make the roster who'd they replace what sort of impact they -- well first of all the got three weeks to decide. So because they got three weeks to decide you know Agassi the patriots make any kind of a move at all until that. So they're going to take every bit of of the of the 21 days they have to activate them and even if they do I mention a couple of weeks ago I thought that -- guy like Kelley Washington even though he's and been somewhat valuable as a special team or I think that you know his name would have to come up. If you don't see him in the participating as much in the office rotation amongst the receivers it's really depends what they where they want to put Chad Jackson projections he's just I'm not quite certain. That they're going to activate him. -- I'm not sure who would go in this place. Again I think that's a decision honestly that will take the full 21 days to decide in in of course you don't know what's going to happen injury wise over the course of the next three weeks. So it may very will be you know their count on somebody in in just because of the the the odds favoring it -- somebody get a little nicked up and that's how one of these guys it's activated. He says personally I would love to see Chad Jackson contributes some as he could be a nice cheap replacement for stalwart Mexican. I don't have much knowledge Johnny Jackson if you solid back of the secondary is strictly expected yeah I think they like the fact that you know he could be good back up in the secondary but either way. Whoever is activated of either one of them are. They're both going to have to play special -- that's just the way this team operates that the way it's gonna have to be and that's the way it usually is -- one patriots you know. Activate guys like that off the roster or the PP. He had it coming in contribute somewhere boys were not an individual life -- in which on the show for the rest the anti improve you can you know contribute where we -- So all right at this time then let's what's that tune in to -- pro bowl defensive end Jason Taylor from Miami Dolphins a part of it all deepened -- always seems to give the New England Patriots in the patriot offense and Tom Brady and Matt light a particular all kinds of trouble. When the patriot visit the south Florida in short while ago Taylor had a chance to visit with members of patriots media."

[1:13:25]" obviously you've been big fan of Thomas for awhile. We saw them bring in Boston Welker and Stallworth in the offseason that you think my job -- got -- definitely harder."
[1:13:37]" Yeah disgusted me so. What store there was bad though from the legal ability and and and -- district work. You're you've got a bit which is big city the respect whether it would -- and where they played and with the ability to do anything less. -- succession of -- or whatever it's. The -- just attitude the Cutler the when -- coached at."
[1:14:11]" Trade deadline he won yesterday Chris chambers obviously San Diego the obvious question is would you like to move somewhere else if this were building process. Doesn't go the way or takes along time do you foresee this is where you think maybe you would get traded yesterday."
[1:14:34]" yeah of course. It's you know loaded it cable where it appeared they're the road out of doing the off season you'll I don't know which which -- teams that are going. Mitrovica where they've -- absolutely -- To address that in the Carlsberg for oh from my little."
[1:14:57]" At the start of last season two like you guys were close -- that for the patriots if you probably felt that way a lot of people -- turned Super -- pick. I mean a year later we set an illusion or do you feel that that. Obviously slip backwards and the patriots have gone ahead as a tough to"
[1:15:21]" Lester Wednesday it was secretary for him or whatever I thought it was brutal murder. Promotional work for him to be accurately because we want to hit floating in the country so I knew we -- A mission last season it and they've repute as -- you were to that particular step back it would have been. Don't -- who don't work rebuilding a little bit different opponent all the different things. Fans and players people in general usual that's -- he would be politically and at this point reportedly -- stage and felt -- figured Terrell Everett reached buildup and and every team. -- low to reach me what are we want to call it. Every offseason but it suddenly more than others and obviously I don't situation we're in so it's it's -- Very clear Agassi -- don't look at it -- to around that in order liked it so. Pitcher it's going wonder -- we have gone the other. Very forward."
[1:16:31]" There well I appreciate your card today aren't in the regular schedule. Jason Taylor defensive end for the Miami Dolphins some good honesty I think they're from mr. Taylor you can certainly I think ascertain amount of frustration in his voice but again and it's one of the reasons why -- medial have talked -- no he won't pull any punches and certainly some what does concern over the direction in which you use particular team is traveling in the way things are are playing out but he hasn't given up the ghost yet and in nor would you expect anyone all of his caliber of player to do so Armenia as a pro bowl player. And he is a leader on the team he is a veteran Andy is still can play at a very high level. And you know that a win over the patriots on Sunday as unlikely as it might be. To either your high that would go a long way toward curing a lot of the yields mean they feel like they need one thing to get them started now. Are they a playoff team no. Wouldn't you play a team of the beat the patriots know but. They need to be able to hang their hat on some -- in this would be a great start. And this would help the rebuilding process begin that much more quickly. It won't get done by just one win over the patriots but the patriots had better be careful -- all of -- they had better be careful because he's played up to his capability and Zach Thomas is playing up to his capability you know. Anything can happen -- if you go around and you leave the team in a ball game he don't have what you don't don't have a chance to put them out when you have a chance to put them out. And literally you can find yourself in trouble especially as we've already told you today in an area and in the stadium and against team which historically they have had troubles both for. This week by the way is going to be the only game that patriot will play in the regular season on natural grass. I don't know if that makes a difference to you or to the patriots or anybody else but it was did you sort of an anomaly that I read this week that I thought I would bring out this is the only guy in the regular season this year which -- can play on natural grass surface of course that's when today. Field turf full time year ago and most are but -- seem to have done the same as well. Eight patriot players or former Miami Dolphins you can probably name them all but -- certainly start with Izzo and Welker. And Sammy Morris. And the unit junior sale remembered. And Heath Evans Allen did for a brief while and all five Eddie Jackson on the court -- just recently it was out of practice today off the PUP Billy Yates often to guard and Kyle Michael. Last year spent time on the dolphins' roster as well. So -- just some tidbits that there is some familiarity certainly between the two sides and maybe that more than anything LC kind of answering my own question a bit. In asking why you think it seems that some teams always play other teams harder. In no matter the relative strengths of the teams. It's always a difficult battle and maybe it's because generally speaking in. Lot of these instances there's a lot of familiarity between the players and the coaching steps. Maybe got a lot of players changing addresses between those two teams and because -- that familiarity it's just it's it's it's tough. And I also think to some extent. Rivalry does play a point it. In play apartment and I mean patriots play the dolphins twice a year. Their rivals. They're in the same division Campbell -- the pasting coming you know very -- you know teams -- out -- the -- would like to be more. And I'm sure the cases the same vice versa. You can say is that from an analyst in the Jason Taylor anyway. You know while he has the utmost respect for Tom Brady and everybody else on that roster in. Some of the guys who have left Miami in particular was walker as he was talking about and come to New England -- fact is that he knows they can play ball. And he has great respect -- like nothing better than dont wanna come so maybe that's part of the reason why sometimes you know. No matter the relative strengths it's just tough to play certain teams and especially tough to play in certain stadiums like it is for the patriots to himself or. Now let's get this more emails and then we're gonna want it to the end of our program today with them cam Cameron who courses the head coach Miami Dolphins in his first years in some. Taking over coming over from San -- offensive coordinator under -- Marty Schottenheimer of the charges last year in his oh in six as a head coach now on the NFL's so you know that. He elected first win on on his help to be of the scalpel Bill Belichick in New England Patriots that would certainly be great start for him. Again it wouldn't cure all the old boy that would be certainly an eye opener when it. Hum John writes. Did you see the -- on the Dallas morning news regarding Patrick credence comments on the -- Steve basically says they are not real. Although the Dallas -- only really scored 20 on the -- deep into think there's some merit. -- comment. The past for quarter looked terrible on the -- but getting exposed left and right in the pass rush was absolutely terrible. I'm worried about a word of this defense like last year's big tough and slow especially their linebackers will be responsible for covering quick tight ends. Might be crazy but I think they should be -- here woods and Eric Alexander to the rotation especially on third in more than four. Well I don't know there's merit great comment I think Patrick -- and I saw all the comment that you know. But he says that ESPN headed on TV bomb. On the it was -- out of frustration more than anything else. Yeah the patriots did look you know somewhat shall we say -- on on on defense for bit by the part of that is because Dallas is very good -- On offense pass rush I would agree was not good. They were able to adjust. And able to force a roll out of pocket it was really which you don't want to do with a guy but they held in 299 yards so it's not like he went off on. I don't think this defense that the patriots have as big tough and slow quite the contrary did you see that was Thomas on his interception return for a touchdown earlier in the year. I mean I think this defense has has enough speed could it be faster sure. But I don't think it's an alarming lack of speed defensively far from a David from the Philippines writes John. That was me on the it's too early comment specifically -- the with no offense to John Brooks inserting -- Europe so upset. I thought you could only vote once for pro bowl selections if you can vote multiple times for your favorite players -- it certainly makes sense discussing now. Also it was viewership nearly as much as BMW it's it's already to end here when -- of starts that's -- I'm not so familiar with the format. I apologize if you're offended -- it was my intent stated I am not offended I'm sorry that it came off like that but you know when I heard -- mention that on the program but that would be good starting point. The fact of the matter and and I really don't know what the pro bowl selections are I was an impression -- go to ten times and maybe I'm confusing some of the all -- and perhaps somebody can correct you know clarify here. I was in the Persian you can vote more than once it may be they devote as much July but yet -- from a different. Email address the that you're supposed blog and with the email address so you have two or three different email addresses -- depression and certainly -- Each time. I think that's the way they they do that in the NFL but again -- don't be able tell that you that NFL but comets are voting. No I would just do my whole point really it was -- to say that you know a -- have to listen to the full context -- really get full meaning. And what we were doing merely was just kind of playing the game a little bit and because it's a long season because there's so. Very little to nitpick on with this football team you know you gotta have some fun every once in awhile so you start looking at things like this which have been. A real sore point for a lot of patriots fans over the last few years getting probable snubbed so that's why we kind of started. Bomb and no I'm not upset that it's a good conversation starter to have anything David I'm ma I'm appreciative of the the fact that you you sent the email to those guys because it got me going conversational like two days ago actually should be thanking you. And I will thank you thank you day thank you for that got me going but but let's see what else we have here all of this came from Jimmy Orlando's is note the list earlier today who bought 300 dollar tickets to the dolphins game no shape whatsoever on the -- side. Just -- 210 to a 120 degrees on the field enjoy the sunshine state one word. Hydrates his note to build turn up the heat in your indoor practice here you got to beat the heat and the fans that's a good point Jimmy. I really think that as some do -- it's always been a struggle for the patriots in Miami. That this just brutally hot especially when they play them. In September October and are already read you those numbers earlier here that in September October want to play that a Miami the patriots. Don't have any success -- career wise one and 13 against the dolphins in south Florida when they played them. In either September or October this is going back in. 19711 end 13. All right so just kind of you know. Was -- that what around him out for awhile -- from the Philippines right factors his old job I would Google Richard Dawson for Ian got this. Richard Dawson of the game -- giant in the 19 as a panelist on the goofy match game and then as opposed to TV family feud. His career ground to a halt in the mid 1980s in by the 1990 rumors were circulated that Dawson was dead. Possibly the rumor mongers with the of dawson's successor as -- him if you recall who -- who really did. Commit suicide in 1996 yes that is accurate thank -- I do recall obviously family feud and I know that there were some people the body was did I had forgotten perhaps over the money confused with ray combs the actually remember when that happens ray combs the story again under sort of remember -- my head but even though he was you know a superstar -- but phrase when he took over the family feud from Richard Dawson. He was apparently had a real -- moment complexes short stature guy. And was he he had a hard time living in the shadow of Richard Dawson. Even when it came to you know trying to you know how Richard always come up non -- if you give the ladies on the panel kissed. He refused to do that for awhile back he refused at all because I'm not Richard -- And so I think you just odd bird apparently just couldn't he would pressure it's kind of sad story actually but. And that's what I recall one on. Some come from John in Fayetteville Georgia if the patriots are 15 and oh. When they play the giants and the giants are in the play offs. Here's why Bill Belichick would not put forth his best effort first he would not risk an injury to a key player. He showed his two years ago gives the fans and second he would not want to show -- potential Super Bowl opponent anything that might help. I would buy that to an extent. First you're right he would not risking injury to a key player. So get him patron for 15 -- play the giants the giants have also clinched yeah I mean there's every every possibility that. You'd see the starters play a limited amount of time in the game. And you know what kids when we get closer to this in -- we actually get to this point in time and we're actually talking about this for real at the end of December. You're going to be all open arms over it. And let's say hey you know way back in October when we were talking about this year on the program and we set this might happen and now you're upset but it's happening. Well this definitely will happen. Those of you that want to go for 16 an -- for a slice of immortality listen if that isn't so much a concern with this football team. As it is winning a fourth suitable the last seven years that's the concern that's what they want to do that's their goal. Championships that's what -- that's that's what taint teams and players are ultimately remembered in the overall pantheon of NFL history. Seoul let's just kind of you know keep in mind here that you wild 60 you know sounds great it's great bragging rights around -- water cooler and everything else it means squat unless they actually won the last three. You get to the 19 so if they think that they can you know if they have nothing to play for an especially if the giants. Have nothing to play for by the way having the the giants win probably now and make the playoffs they could right now be the second best team in the NFC behind Dallas then neither team will put their best effort forward 19 most likely specially the both have -- Neither team's going to want to risk it. I mean. The best thing the best chance you have of of playing about is hoping that the patriots do indeed have a home field advantage in a -- because then they're going to have the automatic off week -- you might want your starters to play because they know they're gonna not play the next week because there won't be again. But I think there's certainly chance that you'd see them played two or three quarters. And then you know rest up so to speak it not risking further damage or injury what have -- that is a very real and plausible scenario as this whole thing -- progressive but we got ten weeks ago nine weeks to go before we get you know -- Reggie nieces who rested their players for the big games and a blown out of playoff the colts he said there's pros and cons to both no doubt. No doubt there's pros and cons of both sides you ultimately have to decide what you think is best for your team in any given situation and based on the history of the hill and what we've seen Bill Belichick do you'd have to say the history dictates that yet he's going to hold some guys out. Certainly possible that he'll hold some guys out. And that this this team will. You know I mean especially if it's a team on the giants I mean it did team of the giants they're foreign to right now become in the last."
[1:30:59]" We considered that in five. And with a win you know they may be you know clinch the two -- what have you or maybe they win the division. You know there you -- only got four losses in then who knows you'll see them loaded for bear coming in to try to play hard. And the patriots will have long since clinched something home field advantage or whatever in just it's just one of those things that this is. This is to be one of the common fallacies in the with the -- set things up I mean this happens in just about every sport every year he always. Feel like teams that you know get off to such a great start and because the season lasts as long as they do. He always going to come down the situation when you clinch with time left to play in the why you know when so much weight is put on championships. Why would you want to risk injury to your star players when you're out there that we were -- in the ad in the answer to that is you don't want to reach entry. -- hold about we ought to play a little bit because they've been practicing anyway you can hurt yourself in practice. You hurt yourself you know by running -- you can pull -- doing just about anything. So injuries as well lower part of the game what you certainly increased the likelihood of increased -- going at their participating in -- full contact sport. In only with the pads -- Daniels you know. And scrimmage in in a regular game. But just you have to can deal with I personally am of the of the opinion. You know and get this is a level is thought to -- if you got a game on the schedule you play the game and I think most players. -- that. We get a game on the schedule I want to play. Even if we've clinched everything there is to clinch. Even at the risk of of of potentially hurting myself in in in being out no player ever thinks like that. No one ever thinks about oh god if I do this I'm going to get hurt nobody does that you scored their -- You have to you can't think about it because it's what he'd stop what you think about it that's when you really increased chance of getting hurt. It's the players themselves you know it and now and then and now. They're -- all want to play though it's in an especially if the patriots clinched everything you know they got a bye week. Alia they're all going to want to play so like you said that's -- that's I believe your best chance to get remotely other plane -- page keep -- Is that you know if the patriots are let's say they do -- that last week against the giants a new year's scenario it's a big one that last against the giants 14 and one."
[1:33:26]" And they still clinched everything. But they they don't have the chance to it to do the undefeated thing that I think there's less of a chance you'll see everybody --"
[1:33:38]" If they're 13 -- that last week again. Even further well or you know we can't do one thing also why should we go out there and risk further injury. And you know what you eat again with that something else of that equation. You don't know what's going to happen over the next nine weeks before we get to that last week. We don't know who's going to get hurt we don't know who's going to be out we don't know who's come that we don't know anything. You have to play at one week in time you have to experience it one game at a time. And take it as it comes in when you do that. Then that this could -- yourself a chance I -- to plan a little bit but. The easy really can't you just he can't do the editor under really any scenario any possible sneak into. You have to let the season play itself out you just don't know who's going to be hurt. We'd be looking six weeks from not a completely different season but what we're looking at right now we'd be look at -- a couple of different season three weeks from now. If somebody crucial gets -- Or -- two or three guys get hurt on once out of football or especially as has happened in the recent past your game. Especially to guys the same position get hurt like the patriots have been heard the secondary over the course the last few years. -- can you can spend things right around the dining in cause you you know some some problems and in change your outlook and cause you to lose a game that you didn't think you're going to lose so. There's so much football still to be played in so much time that still look to go before we get down of the last week or two in the regular season decide who played -- not like it almost does -- talk about it even though we didn't talk about -- frankly that's what we do around your right we probably so that. That's part of the show. In -- like -- in the Philippines would say with all due respect you know it's too early to talk about things well hey you know what it is kind of too early to talk about things. Well we talk about it anyway that's what we do here in the program we take a look ahead when the guys double holy cannot. That's -- talk shows and -- and programs like this all about try to look ahead a little bit in ended to build up interest in the team in in in -- see you know how best to follow them. You know where the pitfalls might be worth the trouble spot might occur. So anyway good thought provoking stuff the last I must admit tomorrow's program oh course we'll continue here -- in it is 2 PM eastern time and will hear from the patriots locker room. Millwood go inside the locker room over the last couple weeks engaged in good stuff from the players themselves as they prepare. For the upcoming opponent will be the same thing tomorrow get the players' thoughts on facing the Miami Dolphins in Miami and then come up -- for you on tomorrow's program and will also have Russell Baxter from ESP in the unifil. Research coordinator he'll join us well. He will be here was this approximately 2:45 eastern time tomorrow. In willow put a spin on the of the patriots in the dolphins for usually take a look at some of the other road games on the slate in the weeks seven. Around the NFL sold that will be on the docket for tomorrow as -- patriots head coach. Bill Belichick for you while on Thursday's program in the meantime let's wrap up today's program with the a conference call from patriots media and the guys who came over from San Diego certainly not expecting to start his head coaching career -- only six even though he's very good offensive coach under Marty Schottenheimer but as a head coach you'd have to say that no it has not been an easy time for dolphins -- man cam Cameron well here's a coach camera would members of the patriots media."
[1:37:05]" Good morning Kim -- I always sixes -- to go through but. Would you see light at the end of the tunnel that lead to the areas of the tournaments. Improving to a point nationalism. Possible that the second half of the season do that."
[1:37:21]" Well there's the most pleasing thing is just our approach replica -- got -- preparation is still good. Are guys who still believe that we can improve our focus has been -- I think. Just continue to do that he continues to get better it's that's our job to step it the most noticeable thing in the world -- to do."
[1:37:49]" If you go on an individual basis try brown as he's ever want to find season's second and rushing on the and also always use your top receiver he's cure all for."
[1:37:59]" Well usually it's it's really better collective effort off especially in the -- got a long long way to go offensively -- the -- blah -- changes nervously checked every position they've Mark come around -- all those things but but right make the most what was opportunities."
[1:38:21]" You know when you took over as coach of additional option was that the offense would be better and it eventually you know I have to get all. All the pieces in place that is and it's -- and it shows that you have defensively however where it's kind of from this vantage point. It's sort of been given that there are very efficient business that. Things could a difficult right now points scored against them all what what's gone wrong --"
[1:38:48]" Well I think it accommodation but maybe if you look at. Look at -- score a lot of points but it's it's a factor of specialty -- just doing their job. These particular job hold them on and you know we've we've got other issues it's just different defensive issues here -- we get we -- football that helped these. Our kicking game got to continue to improve which we we have them for. But there are kicking games five when cooperative with the all England or some but not -- well -- it'll point one phase but the other Tuesday you contribute. I think just -- you look at it as good as there are planned. Everybody's contributing do you need to score there was a lot of points for the decent scores were kicking game scores. And so that makes everything -- look at. Look good so we got we got some problems that are assault on defects. I had to fill holes with local guys that if it was our issues are team issues."
[1:39:59]" You've got to the course just as the new news -- who. You traded chambers yesterday it was -- You know -- a terrific player on diamond -- of the team we came from the certainly they needed they needed some help how to -- to discuss what action what was -- Thinking they are treading -- when he about it."
[1:40:18]" Well a -- that tolerated or guess it was a Monday night and -- in the -- we talked through slipped on and Chris is -- outstanding care that much time here preparation has been first class as a private first class so outstanding season we concluded that. It we've got some young guys that they can play as well you know we've become advocates of their K 21213 14 snaps take it and start sort of grow in the we just felt. That we've got guys you can step in and and fill that order I think it's a great situation for Chris I think it's it's it's a tremendous opportunity for the -- on this football team to help now it's it's not sign of rebuilding or should it have this season and and we think Nashville can help --"
[1:41:20]" Go to kind of an articulation of the pitchers this week on witches who you're gonna get him all. And then as we go to a foreign country with the you know -- as a home game and it's it's got to be a little difficult preparing for something."
[1:41:36]" Well that's it. You know we've got a lot of preparation for the trip prior start the season there are -- focus right now and they don't know the National Football League you better take one taking it to one game at a time that game include. Here's -- quickly up adaptability most and in this business will. Picnic table premier you know more pressing issue right now point."
[1:42:13]" You have two defensive players that played it's started them. Incredible mind games Jason television away from. Consecutive start record and it in the courses Jack thomas' -- 167. And yet they're they're they're the leaders of the different. It's it's amazing that pleasant and they still good I'm still play at a high low. Pretty amazing to me."
[1:42:42]" Well it's here on the great quantities this year you appreciate it so much remember. Being around Junior Seau -- oil in the in San Diego and and in the this October. Last you're playing abilities I was that is retirement speech last year and eternal that tape an idiot play it was good that I. This year much statement and having gone against Rodney. We -- in practice San Diego and it just competed against. -- mentally if so much respect for perspective injury it is. In June and Teddy and I can go right right battle -- it's. It is virtually respect of the players this game so much because -- how difficult it is. And how hard it is these guys judgment of the."
[1:43:42]" How does that happen. -- an -- real but there was only done dumb errors it was nice ending to a nice career. And he comes over any as a valuable player makes big plays when he's on the field. Does that happen is that the system or being right place -- all of that talent that you had you can get it out squeeze and I went in in the right atmosphere."
[1:44:04]" Well I think first thing issues that are both true I think for four -- I could -- gender generational issue it was just stay healthy. That was never -- matter of when he was healthy well level he can play and they just -- have some some misfortune of interest the last few years and and so far this year he's -- they have helped him I think I think anyone would particularly by the has competed so we'll organs junior. When he's healthy. You know this guy it's -- it was drifting. -- is absolutely so question I think what is desert or shape it's harder -- stay healthy but. That's in the pathetic and that's what is -- special."
[1:44:53]" You know there's a lot of tires obviously you. From Miami guys Welker is done a terrific job. You didn't have in my position -- so but the fact is that he's got a huge effect fullback. As dominant starter in the include -- on Miami connection of players that come up here besides. -- that don't mind."
[1:45:17]" Yeah it's it's it's expect to have that no data from this -- having having had Wes Welker as a rookie and San Diego literally goes first to -- completely different touchdown against Cuba Arizona you know to -- to remember we also built that this kid is a player and obviously got grabbed him in Miami and that we don't know how things transpire casualties but. Well it's it's state -- can't get that thing turned around."
[1:45:54]" Step by Adam. San Diego London and make go to Miami -- euphoria that night those kind of that's great businesses."
[1:46:06]" Well they're all about across special about it I think that's more. It would rule will respect it -- so much because it's going to -- ago good players our options are great coaches there's a lot of mutual aspect --"
[1:46:24]" Really good perspective on the patriot scouting. I've played them you know at San Diego -- huge game that was -- and the kind of quality they have as a Kaman came from him with -- quality. How to they've more prepared to them you know -- time to prepare for them they better than now agents we think but who knows."
[1:46:49]" Well actually always below very and they've they've -- actually worked well for it's. Look what they've done the receiver receiving corps we Wimbledon on those negotiations were a couple most players shall we do what they were getting coached or -- we know but -- they've they've helped themselves. And they oh oh April that it. Play him and there's. Well as anybody in the league and then maybe as well -- shape there's period or should experience so. An oval solution another great football -- and in my mind as -- the job there are preferable to warrior."
[1:47:46]" it yes it is just what those players along or close do you think your came -- acquiring those players."
[1:47:54]" Well it ever really go if you'd hear you do do you talk agents most of temperament. And -- the bottom lines all but -- wire shelves -- almost one. Or -- and actually we were analytical questions and we have a pair of Sammy and you know -- it Washington and so forth and so. Closer if that's that's that's what has been all -- I guess the good news as we look at with the right guy."
[1:48:29]" Via user and it well. So that they apparently actually it's bigger talent more Julio is spurs seconds it was there again this week."
[1:48:40]" It'll be -- that is a nice job but. In Cleveland there's some initial plays that think he would take back him. But he gave us change if prospect in the third quarter way there again. Well that field goal was word ghetto in the game and -- him that the so called about Cleo please continue to grow. -- still you know -- the quarterback in terms of experience you don't get better and better and he use -- proper way between."
[1:49:12]" You know it's funny you talk about Welker out of Julio. It was in the remotely is one of those humble you know the they just don't make it -- and they can make a bit."
[1:49:27]" Well sometimes the driving forces that they should -- you know it just becomes they're they're hungry because -- noted -- Felt like when nobody wanted to. They they do it -- so much invested in this opportunity that there will do everything came to keep food for tiger's words. Sometimes it's tougher -- completely hated it's from the great potential where it was drafted maybe he takes awhile to get them -- But it's with the guys made the right stuff and has certain talent -- you -- I could actually play well."
[1:50:10]" They didn't you'd hear what kind of development as he went through great."
