[0:00]" Let's go let's go let's go Tampa without a little while ago pond and why it. Did they want to hear it. Excuse patriots playbook -- Breaking down last Sundays game that I look at the man coverage an -- yeah. They have got on the seventh round next Sundays you're ready for the great Jack do okay we'll get -- on third floor. Great for the rest of the 2000 about it and it goes in. It now because of the."
[0:41]" Welcome inside the playbook everybody -- Wednesday it is game -- eight. What New England as the patriots yet except for the Washington Redskins back home after three weeks away. And it will be at 4:15 eastern time -- your outlook on Sunday. I sort of figured out wide with the rest in game clock and would twist but what all of that while he attempts. -- but nevertheless does that -- I guess getting it whatever we get in earlier that it that it that the patriots and the Redskins -- Sunday --"
[1:18]" Fox network television game so it'll be via I guess the national game the second half of the era doubleheader. On Sunday and to that in two we're locked and loaded today in the program. Kenny Albert from fox television will be doing the play by play before Sunday afternoon's game will be joining us here. In about ten minutes we'll also be joined at the top or 3 O'Clock eastern time out today by Bram Weinstein who cover the Washington Redskins for the Redskins radio networks what he's going to join us as well. All later on in the program we will also hear the conference call with the Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs as he met with the members of the patriots media earlier today your Gillette stadium. On random if time permits so walls get into patriots coach Bill Belichick as we always turn and him as well to give your chance to hear the two coaches almost side by side is he going to get a little bit of it all the perspectives so month Redskins game week is here we're underway the patriots at 7 trying to improve to eight -- over the first time obviously a franchise history the big catches me the most. About the Redskins this week is affected their. Pretty good I'm in the -- to the right in the thick of things and I think you can certainly make a strong argument at least at this stage. That the division in which the Redskins play which is the NFC east is the strongest division -- top to bottom right now. In the NFL. You might be able to make an argument one or two others but I mean we answered dallas' leading the division it's six and one. And the giants -- right behind them at five into and then in course Dallas in New York may be the two best teams overall in the entire NFC. Certainly the way that they're playing right now and they both reside in the same division -- to give heavy consideration the NFC east being the -- division and the course the NFC east is the division in which. Members of the AFC east. Are paired up against this year in this that revolving schedule. And if so lead Washington Redskins at four and two just half a game back of the giants. And a game and a half behind the cowboys for the division lead in course Philadelphia whom everybody seemed they was going to win this division with a healthy. Donovan McNabb coming back this year the eagles are struggling that who would Ford about ready to be knocked on their key Easter for the rest of the season. And so the eagles. Or at the bottom of his division than you know that you got a pretty tough division and that is what is on the patriots played this Sunday. I'm thinking that you know like a lot of other people like okay so how can the patriots possibly. Possibly not win this. Based on it and we talked about it in this era. I in -- or I should say of invincibility and the fact that now you've noticed but in the last a lot of a point -- so who's been once and it's been talking about but. The whole team Q column Gregg easterbrook wrote on his conduct com's page two and and we spent majority eventually -- talking about that and in in in if you have not had your chance to get your two cents worth in on that certainly go right ahead fire off an email web radio -- patriots dot com. That of course as you may know is our email address and you can comment on it but sending me an email that interest right now in rule allow you to have that opportunity but. Here's the thing I'm thinking. You know. Somehow some way someone that inning in the NFL has just said let's concentrate on football and the reason I say that is because. When spike didn't Kurt who is one of the biggest. Detractors who is one of the biggest nature's other than than than a guy like a Peter king of Sports Illustrated. Who seemed to really have this go up his backside. And my answer to that is Chris Collins worth. Of course does -- column for NFL but comedy obviously covers the NFL Sunday Night Football football might American show on NBC and so on -- have you noticed his column what you wrote on medical dot com. One now he's completely I think he's done one lady here. What what he's done is he's basically called the patriots potentially now one of the greatest teams of all time. And he says in his column he says I'm actually getting excited about the patriots chances for going undefeated. And I'm like war is this common problem because he was just you know so up in arms and course we talk about it here on the show the guys on WEEI in Boston had him on the air. And it's -- like bull why you showed negative for the patriots in and why do you even care and you know it just like he was indignant over the fact that somebody could actually you know. Get caught you know what their hands in the cookie jar like the period that like the patriots did an analyst -- now he's. Like the patriot best buddies like oh this is the greatest team I don't see any faults here they can go down as one of the best team reasonable time. How does this happen. How does this 180 degree -- backwards turn occur so quickly. And the only -- coupled with his is that you know -- he's decided to move on or being someone has told him. It's time to move on. One of those two things -- happened your kids. So Chris college where -- in the patriots corner. -- I guess to -- went in but I mean. He's not turn in -- he's not doable good versus evil I'm rooting for the colts because the patriots cheek type of thing like Gregg easterbrook was suggesting. I'm little surprised that the patriots might have an ally or someone that you know it's kind of in the corners for a this football team is concerned. In Chris Collins -- that is a little amazing today so that's the biggest revelation I've had over the last week or hours or so. As drivers they're not think all right so now. How did the patriots possibly lose this game Sunday. Based on the fact that now even you've got a guy like Chris Collins were in your corner and you've got you know. The guys -- has been you know. Basically saying the patriots ownership role in. This and then of course they have to say that because if they don't say that been the going to look like utter -- was nobody in television want to colorful. Pretty obvious so. How do you beat yourself out of the Redskins beat. The patriots is it even possible in the last odds I looked at this morning hours 16 and a half points 16 and a half and that's up half a point from yesterday at this -- and I think it well now have I really wanted to do this if I really wanted to break it down and try to look at videotape in and and determine how best to -- think. In opposing team has a chance. I'm looking at the Washington Redskins as to begin kind of bring in this thing down and think you know what player wise and and I business has. -- news is is a coincidence more than anything else but personnel -- the Redskins. May match up as well as anybody defensively against what the patriots are off for. And I say this because I do believe that the Redskins have eight talented and athletic secondary. And I think that. If anyone can come close to Manning up. Or creating problems for the patriots and their deep routes on Sunday it's probably the Redskins Americans and it's probably a guy like. Like Joe Gibbs who certainly has a ton of experience in game planning defensively one of that one of the bright premier football minds in the history of of the of the National Football League in the group granted in his second time around with a Redskins haven't gone quite as well as the first time around but. Then again you know he's having operated salary cap era he's got an -- Dan Snyder who. Apparently is beginning to learn to adjust but the hell out and get out of the way and let the football people do their jobs. Maybe that above everything else is one of the reasons why the skins are four and two at this stage. But the Redskins defensively may match up a little bit in May be able to allow. Maybe able to all allow you know that these fans a chance here to you know contain the patriots if the patriots -- here's a big key I think already -- game again it's you know we'll talk more about this you know later today tomorrow but. I think whether or not a guy like -- Benjamin Watson came into the game on Sunday if he's able to play. I think it's a huge factor because the patriots now have with a guy like Watson the ability to war over the middle and ability to stretch over the middle with a guy like Watson. You take Watson -- the equation which really left with over the middle is a guy like Wes -- is certainly capable of running was underneath routes against zone coverage and course. Curling up underneath double coverage against you know Randy moss and done things go more than whoever else might be out there. Well part of the problem in the past with -- that teams. Whenever they have deep threats they usually get really physical with you receivers the patriots as you know have done this is one of the chief complaints of course the bill polling and complaining NFL about what the patriots were jamming his receivers at the line a few years ago we've talked about this yesterday. Talk about this yesterday so teams are going to start jamming up on the patriots -- you know Randy moss is not an over the middle -- guy Donte' Stallworth isn't really an over the middle type of guy Welker is Watson is and so we take Watson out of the equation. And get beat up enough on Welker you eliminate the middle the field which allowed your -- already athletic in the secondary I'm talking about Washington here. You have your defense you have a chance now. You have a chance to does that mean you're gonna get it done. But you have a chance. To hold New England back of couple this would affect the patriots are banged up in the running game. And we don't yet know who's going to line up at running back behind Brady on Sunday whether it's Lawrence Maroney or Kevin -- or Kyle tackle we we don't know. So I'm just saying I'm just saying it. But when you look at the match up the Redskins defense against this seemingly unstoppable patriots offense what I'm saying here is that I concede. With a patriots could have some problems doesn't mean they won't ultimately work them out. But I think that -- physical matchup for the Redskins is as favorable against the patriots as any team the patriots have faced this year. The rest assured the patriots are going to work on that very thing they -- I would be at all surprised whoever is in it running back. We know won't be you know more us. One whoever it is are out of it I wouldn't the patriots I would be at all surprised at the patriot dial up that running -- number a few extra times this week. -- middle pound the middle pound middle we know the patriots are capable control of the football. I would be at all surprised to see dink and dunk got to the end as well as compared over the over the over the middle. Controllable controlled the ball pound middle pound middle. Forced the Redskins to commit to the middle of the field so then you were able to bless them loose deep on the sidelines. Is that in any -- makes sense to you. And end that's what I'm looking at I I get the same impression from Reading a couple of book football people whose opinions I highly respect one of them being Adam chapter from NFL network. Obviously another one being Ron Jaworski for me is the end I was just a couple of -- couple of the instances where the kind of given me the ideas yours so. Anyway I'm not and the patriots won't win but I'm what I'm saying here. He is that I could see with a Redskins at least initially based on the personalities. And the personnel involved I could see with a Redskins might be able to give the patriots in trouble. Now conversely. Conversely underdog in this now. The Redskins have only thrown on offense -- only thrown five touchdown passes this entire season five. Touchdown passes all season four of them have gone to the tight end in Chris Cooley. One has gone -- Mike sellers. To that zero for Antwaan Randle -- And that is 0% animals. So Washington still has to prove to people that they can go to the white outs I would welcome -- a program Kenny."
[13:34]" Albert of course calls play by play for fox television network and you'll be behind the microphone on Sunday here in Foxborough patriots take on. Washington Redskins Kenny it's great to talk to you thanks for the time today John Elliott. Excellent excellent -- it next or just going to talk about Kenny is is really just sort of trying to work on my own one now. A team like Washington seems to be certainly capable I think physically in the secondary could match up -- New England is trying to figure out anyway possible. At the patriots could stub their toe if not this week and someone down the line what are you looking -- when you study these two teams right now. And whether or not you think the Redskins have a legitimate chance to give the patriots in trouble."
[14:11]" Well up the great question John I think that's what a lot of people wondering win if at all patriots will stop there though and you know Bob I'm not. Complete with my preparation as far as this week's game troops today but I certainly have have seen enough by I work the count was it last week against the vikings -- patriots Dallas game from the previous week haven't gotten through via. Patriots Miami game yet but I also did the rest in game two weeks ago in green day so right you Washington person and in order to talking about the fact situation Campbell that nobody touchdown -- wide receivers and -- that that even goes back to last year Italy at war last year -- 15 or 16 career touchdown passes now -- so you know he certainly trust Chris -- the tight end has become the go to guy in. He's good player it was a pro bowl alternate last year led the team in receptions Mike sellers I don't get the ball very often. But you know when he does he usually scores you know just look back two years ago at 12 receptions seven touchdowns so -- certainly. Comfortable with those guys with with a full back with a tie it and then of course they have two at running back importers and -- and it is much. Of that this year had a terrific second half last year when -- imports went out but as far as the white receivers go moss missed the Detroit game. Three weeks ago Randall I was injured in that game we had a big first -- that it both came back and played -- beta gear artwork. And boss that I a couple of drops and and the big debated he take himself out of the fourth quarter. Or due to ineffectiveness or duty about it an entry and and you know audiences that will never know Boston red below both made big plays this year fort Campbell in the rent it but it is haven't gotten into the and zone as of yet and they also have a a reshuffled offensive line and lost a couple of starters Randy Thomas and Jon Jansen. In the Green -- game that they were down to zero backups due to a couple of injuries and they've got to move because of -- in the regular Alexander over the offensive line and so maybe it's certainly shop openings there. I don't give it real long -- months all right but no problems -- the match -- between Redskins defensive backs and the patriots great group wide receivers. You know -- of -- the challenge for the residents -- this week as it is for every -- you know the acoustic thing about the Redskins group. Is is they're young besides Shawn springs is an 11 year veteran is obviously going for a tough time with that these last few weeks but we look at it short stellar run Landry Carlos Rogers -- Fortier Rogers in his third went as a rookie they're all top and -- for their starting defensive backs. Were picked in the cup and obviously they're good players Ellis had a tremendous season -- at two interceptions against rebate dropped about four others. But you know we've we've we've already Joe -- quotes this week and you know everybody's talking about the fact that this could be good. The you know biggest underdog as far as -- career is concerned you know going up against -- this week in it'll be a -- you know Washington obviously. Knows what the patriots have been able to do and the Redskins at kept the game close score for the most part this year the only capable of more than point point it lost for the giants formula -- game in the second half 77 so. It up pretty much sums it up and -- in one sentence it will certainly be a huge test for the -- in secondary."
[17:49]" Well not only huge test for the -- secondary but for the obviously the entire team it's going to be huge test for the Redskins all that's I think to try to produce some points against the patriots -- gave up a few points last week but at the same time -- a lot of people excuse that somewhat because a lot of the time was garbage time I mean let's face it was 42 to seven at halftime which. You just never I mean you've never seen in the NFL you don't see that kind of out of a margin so. I think it'll also be incumbent upon Washington's offense and Campbell in particular try to produce something because most teams figure. You know that we can't stop the patriot you got to slow him down and even if you do that you gotta be able to put some points in the -- to stamp -- them."
[18:28]" My guess would be this isn't brain surgery but you know I would think the Redskins obviously as most patriot opponents do want to keep doing -- off the field right in which case will probably mean heavy doses of Oakland quarters so little little -- and and a lot. Of -- school I would think so I would think they'd. Look to run the ball movement the dump off passes maybe even a little bit of Mike sellers at the back field and and maybe a couple of Russia -- at a loss -- well but but I would not expect. Gamble for a lot of that in this game I think that they want to keep the patriots offense off the field. And the way to do that is is to trot around the ball and and -- you know -- week. With some of those short dump -- and you know as far as as defensively. You know like -- said the -- and secondary has had a good year property that's an injury -- a panels that -- The potential problem market Washington's missed a couple of games while -- linebackers what inflection but I've got in the middle again. The -- is certainly familiar with from the last five years. As a member of the Buffalo Bills but. I really Kentucky to the rescue at least. As far as keeping the game close is to try and you know ball control and then just keep operating in the office off the field."
[19:42]" Absolutely that would seem to be a no brainer Kenny Albert. Who will be behind the microphone for the fox television network this Sunday it patriots take on the Redskins who's your partner by the this week."
[19:51]" My part of this week for the last week third of three is Troy Aikman we usually work of Joe but Joe is obviously in Boston to work the World Series game one tonight with the car or so normally I work with. Daryl Johnston Tony siragusa three weeks for treatment with Joe -- the World Series in. -- my regular partners was induced are -- wanted for the giants dolphins game been lucky them -- advocate someone yesterday. I had just read a memo you know those it. Those guys go to England I'm going to doing -- but happy to be there Troy and I work via -- instructors give a couple weeks ago we have in Melbourne but this week."
[20:31]" Now I'd still like your assignment is all right what what's the overall impression amongst you and those that you work with. Over the patriots start so four at seven now."
[20:40]" Well I'll put it this way out in the boat with Troy -- Sunday in Dallas and when we we we are games played 4 O'Clock game and we had a television monitor we're -- around about facility early games and the reaction Detroit here's all of favorite retired Super Bowl champion. It is I just about ball Adams head when when we saw the Brady had a heck touchdown depth in the first half you know it's just just a phenomenal year. You know for the patriots for Brady and and look at the oversight on the radio yesterday and he pointed out that back in 88 when he was named the most valuable player of the entire league. He Pretoria touchdown passable he's. And what you what to a Brady's done in the seven games just. Just remarkable and obviously the patriots that we usually do made all the right moves during the offseason bring in Boston. Welker and and so all were right on down the line and so I'm really excited when I saw this sign and I couldn't have been more throw that I know Troy in the rest of our group -- Oliver and the production doesn't look forward to and -- of the pot grows again."
[21:46]" I got asked this though Kenny because you know as someone comes -- covering game and I obviously have covered my shares well over the years. You obviously have to keep it somewhat down the middle of the road because that your job as a journalist to try to present -- balanced a story as you possibly can and yet when UC this story like new -- than unfold. The football fan and you I think has a tendency sometimes to take over. In -- the wrong one way or the other you root for this team to break a record. Or you root against the team to set the record because you'd just don't want to see somebody go over the top. Do you fall on either side of the fence and as anybody you work with also talk about that."
[22:21]" Well I think John you have to keep that balance obviously because even though the patriots is done with what they've done assured becomes such -- big story. There are a lot of -- get them about their through. Especially down the DC area sure dispersed around the country receive you have to play it. Down the middle and you know obviously you go into the game haven't studied both teams in and what they've done this year than you've got to hopefully -- but the game play out to cover the game in use the information that you learned during the week both you know it in. -- your preparation and speak with players and coaches both teams but it obviously. We in the media and you know I know you falcons categorically not be a part of history so if if something happened but it never happened before or the patriots continue their run you know. If not be able look back and -- years stated you know he was there when they went 16 war or lost for the first time -- so. You know I think we all forget outlook on the weekend affect what goes on the field leadership thought about it but but sure it -- to be a part of historical events when you have jets."
[23:25]" think it -- earlier. Spike -- issue this season will have any lingering negative effect on the season on the field for this football team."
[23:33]" Not know because of what the patriots adopted and you know I think. When you look at the initial accusations in all the stuff the came out of it. And you know you heard whispers from from around the country different players coaches and GM's you know talk about. Perhaps tainted legacy in in did the patriots went fairly. Everyday want to pick up the New York Post and look at the standings they have an asterisk next to the patriots and has caught cheating ripple of the standings. But I think you know Bill Belichick and and the players what what they've been able to do in the five or six weeks since then. You know by by putting up the scores and leave the offense they have I think they're pretty much shut everybody up and -- you know we we don't need to do that we. You know one of the best -- of all time despite what what happened in active with the meadowlands I think they've proven to a lot of people that that not it was -- those years in. You know obviously. The patriots got caught in. You know you'd have to figure goes on amongst many other teams as well. And it was kind of an unwritten rule that the -- knew about meeting here a lot about but. I think by what they've shown since -- not open it it diminishes what they've done whatsoever over the last separate years."
[24:47]" By the way if you noticed that the Astros could come off the post yet"
[24:51]" I don't bill last week I was away last couple of days and I haven't looked today yet but he knows --"
[24:57]" just -- we constantly amused that thing by some in the New York media when it comes to the whole new York New England rivalries such as it is it's fun -- of course it does of course it does it makes for great conversation and gives us a chance that. Talk about it on on venues like this. I can before let you go then a little bit more on the game on Sunday and the fact that the patriots. Are really just trying to do not only play against the Redskins but they're also playing against the expectations I think now that. Go to their fans and those in the media might actually have for them any experience it all in your estimation through your years of covering professional football. Well where teams have had success or not had success when they're having to play more than just the opponent on Sunday."
[25:41]" Well I think one thing. They'll vote shut those great job of is not letting the team look at. And we all know what's coming up next week the trip Indianapolis but my guess is that you know locker room nobody's thinking about the -- they'll look at this gave him operate. Against the Redskins team I have other cases were if you look at it kind of overlook an opponent but. My guess is whatever he does psychological with -- locker room you have to -- players only concern themselves with the Washington --"
[26:10]" That is absolutely true. We don't get much more than that either to be honest we did in fact we don't even -- really get that. Everybody is focused every week on and the task at hand and so when you ask questions because those are questions that people want to hear. It's basically the same standard and you know text that you get which is I guess part of what makes this team the way they are right now. Can look forward to the visit and we'll import a listening to -- on Sunday and thanks a lot for spending a little time what -- today we appreciate it."
[26:42]" John I appreciate it thanks for having me I would vote to -- which together and other."
[26:46]" You've got -- will be there thanks. Kenny Albert -- what you would call the game along with Troy Aikman on the fox television network Sunday afternoon 4:15 eastern time -- over Gillette stadium fox channel -- used patriots in the Washington Redskins -- will go at each other. Well in week number eight Redskins already had their bye week by the way just in case you hadn't noticed but the they're four into the patriots are seven and oh commitment to the Redskins will play on out throughout the rest of the via of the season this would undoubtedly be a huge. Huge feather in the cap as it will be for anybody who finally does beat to win when the season but when you consider that you know as -- that earlier there in arguably the the toughest division in the NFL this year. Their game and a half already behind the Dallas Cowboys in the division standings. They really don't want to lose any more ground here because. -- league catcher would Dallas the wild card is going to be their best bets -- to squeeze in and they certainly could do that. Whether they win they lose it it's certainly do that because I mentioned the top two teams in the NFC residing in the same division between the cowboys in the giants right now. After seven weeks. You could make an argument they -- three of the top teams in the NFC being in the same division. Green -- obviously pretty good Seattle will probably. Don't know yet but probably end up winning the west. Although I'm not convinced will be able to -- them along although I'm sure that's when most people feel right now. So that's the case why not -- wild cards come out of the same division in the east. It's possible you could be looking at a potential playoff caliber team. In Foxborough this Sunday and I'm not talk about the patriots and talking about the Redskins will -- they have this will mean this could this would definitely make their season -- they win this game. And they -- have the big target on their backs and they will be expected. Undoubtedly to be in the playoffs for the patriots will have a little bit more of a challenge than say they had this last week. Against the dolphins right. Web radio at patriots dot com is the email address WEB RA DIO web radio. In theory. The Redskins could match up with the patriots. Offense all the Redskins deep offensively may prove to be. The most challenging matchup for the patriots offense to this point in time this season that doesn't mean that Indianapolis will pose a better threat next week understand. Up through seven weeks but the patriots going to be your face in week eight with the Redskins defensively may be their biggest challenge. I try to watch it basically answer that one of two ways are you buying or are you selling. [37:38]" Days of our lives."
[37:42]" That would."
[37:46]" exactly Nick's topic. -- couple things you'll get some emails and then now -- also we have didn't get inside the patriots locker room today so we will look at two patriot quarterback Tom Brady from the locker room earlier today four you'd hear inside the play book coming up in just a little bit in addition to look Bram Weinstein who would the top of the Carroll joins us from Redskins radio network and the Redskins coach Joe Gibbs a little bit later in our number two. A Washington as mentioned four and two on the season come off they you know a two point one in 19 win. August the Arizona Cardinals last week that plated -- in the Virginia it to their home stadium FedEx field. The Redskins -- forced three turnovers they stopped at two point conversion attempt by the cardinals which is 21 seconds left in the game that couldn't I didn't sent the game into overtime London Fletcher who work Kenny Albert from fox TV just mentioned obviously page defensible familiar with London Fletcher to -- because of his them. I'll play for the Buffalo Bills last year before joining Washington he scored 127 yard interception return in the second quarter. And also led the way defensively with 13 total tackles. For the game so London Fletcher had a big day defense -- for the Redskins Sean Taylor who also was mentioned as part of it very tough the very difficult to decipher a Redskins secondary he intercepted Kurt Warner in the first quarter it was probably 46 yard return helped set up the redskins' first touchdown of the day Taylor by the way leads the NFL in interceptions with five. Already in the season to six games at the Redskins have played. And he has at least one interception in each of the past four games. So don't think for a minute that Tom Brady hasn't watched Sean Taylor on videotape already this week. Because I think that you know Brady versus Taylor matchup may end up being a significant one. And you know even the Brady has an absolutely mind boggling staggering 27 to two touchdown to interception ratio thus far this season building -- the Sean Taylor alone won't be capable of snatching one away he certainly will not the big key. In all of this is is how well and I mentioned this with Kenny is too short while ago in case -- just log on the big key here is quite frankly the redskins' ability in on on offense to move against the patriots defects. Redskins were. -- anemic on offense overall last week against the cardinals they had just a 160. Yards of total offense last week against arsenal 160 for the game is what Washington did on markets they had to rushing touchdowns from Clinton Portis. And Antwaan Randle -- led the receiving corps with three catches for 54 yards that's it that's all they produced against the cardinals the -- so. You know wow talking about how the patriots dolphins may struggle at some point against the Washington -- what is the Washington offense going to do against the patriots defects. And -- suggested my guess would be that you'd you'd want to at least in theory. To give the -- steady dose of Clinton Portis and Ledell Betts is best as you can try to move the chains TV can't hit the tight end as well a little bit. To where you can keep the ball out of the hands of Tom Brady in the office. Seemed to be to be pretty logical conclusion and illogical game plan to what you have to do try to be effective and steal one on the road. You also have final to force eternal. You also have to play the field position. He maybe you know you if you if the patriots are gonna score you of the patriots to a clock and you want patriots to have to a long distance to -- 80 plus yards. Every time we have to give of the football to them. You know hopefully keep it close investor you have a chance to maybe steal one away. I mean and if you're within you know two scorers. Two possessions going into the fourth quarter whether he'd probably have to feel pretty good about your chances. Analysts say it's you know 2814 or something going into the fourth quarter. -- 27 to 13 a what have you will then you know then if you're looking at it from a Washington perspective and you probably feel pretty good about that because anything can turn. You know on a moment's notice. Drop ball. Pick off passes you know blocked park little special teams play. It turns it around really quickly as you know if you follow the NFL breaks and time you know dedicated and turn rather rapidly. And that's really what Washington is trying to -- its hopes on the Sunday but when I've looked at some of the notes from the Redskins girls in the Olympic 160 yards that was the against Arizona. You know that's the case. Conversely the Redskins rank amongst the NFL and best teams in several categories their tops in the NFL in total yards per play allowed. The tops in the NFL -- net yards passing per attempt allowed. -- third overall only NFL and the number one in the NFC in points allowed per game they've given up just 81 offensive points. And 88 offensive touchdowns through the first six games. -- had given up eight touchdowns. In six games. Patriots -- six to -- themselves last week. You know so you know not count in the obviously the idea kick return by Willie Andrews. Opponents to gain an average just four point 43 yards on first down against the Redskins that is number one in the NFL. Redskins defense is also first in the NFC second in the NFL overall in third down defense. They vote permitted team to convert just 32% of the time on third down situations against them. -- by the way number one. At 30 point seven so that just ahead actually Washington category. On the Redskins defense first in the NFC fourth in the NFL overall and first downs a loud at this season. And they have eight interception total which is already -- better than their entire season's total from last year in 2006 on the picked off sixth. In the secondary the whole here. For 16 weeks. They have a already through six weeks this year so again they're certainly capable other numbers would indicate that the got a pretty good defects. And the patriots you know certainly would appear to be up to the challenge on offense but I would think that it's been hard to argue that this will be the -- test. Defensively defaced -- patriots juggernaut on offense to this point in time this season I would you know certainly. Don't forget the that would be the case. Web radio ad featuring dot com -- in the email address our our question of the day have to do with. Whether or not you're buying or selling the fact that the Redskins defense. Can slow down the patriots office. And tell me why do you agree with some of the other two of the numbers over the particulars I've given you know jam of the patriot receivers at the line. Maybe try to double team deepen in making it tough for the -- and move the ball especially in light of the fact that we don't know who is healthy at running back yet for knowing what. Going into the game for Sunday. You -- and that. Are you -- that reasoning or you sell it. Web radio at patriots dot com assuming a couple of emails in here Dave from the Philippines -- and is John here's an opportunity get some Washington Redskins stationary and type up a letter thanking Gregg easterbrook for his wonderful article. The post a copy of it in the Pat's locker room when no one is looking at. Result -- 84 or -- zero. That he needed wait until next week right that trash agreed and infect I had a couple of people ask me about that today Dave it's it could you waited one week at least. To put that stuff up there -- the whole. Good versus evil thing next week. Could you know that would have been locker room material for the colts -- Absolutely nevertheless it's out there and it's done and I'm sure that nobody don't always -- and to be honest with you but certainly -- cannon fodder for drugs. Christie in DC says looking forward to this week's games it's on -- pats fan among my friends down here in skins country. If everything goes as it should this weekend I'll be a lot richer by Sunday -- these guys are suffering from a serious case of overconfidence around here. Interest why you know frankly can't he can't blame fans feel that way first of all you know. I'm sure if they're listening to this program they think that -- one side they think that we're homers they think that you know. We don't look at it. Any differently than they look at it. Because were patriots radio because were all patriots fancier what I and that's fun it's understandable every team is going to feel like they're teams got a shot. Mean what have you ever known. A fan of a team really deep devoted fan of the team to just give up the ghost but what -- champions. And you say well you know I know cities that I would I would you know I know somebody in. I would argue that they're not a devoted to it. Every devoted fan either team think their team can win every game that's just the way it is that's human nature. So does this come as a surprise that the Redskins fans would -- Overconfidence or you know -- companies on the radio stations in Washington wherever and it's not a surprise at all sure they feel like they can win the game. Absolutely they're going to crow about it -- if they do but the mean sure they feel like they can win it. We're just trying to present both sides of the story here in. Will you know ocean you know tell you the numbers will surely the matchups will talk about those numbers match ups and then what you make of your own mind as to whether or not you think the Redskins have a shot. That's our email question of the day. We look at the Redskins -- it was arguably and maybe not even arguably if arguably I would say the best part entertain. I have made the statement the top of the show. Today that some other physical matchups -- concern with the patriots and I'm asking you are you buying or are you selling. You -- and that reasoning or reselling it all -- so much you know crap. There you go -- you have your chance to sound off on what's more balanced than that. Mike and campuses the pats D is a product of the pats offense. When time comes to step up they will do what they always do come in with a big play or big tackle. Our offense has lowering them to sleep right now I am not concerned. I would just -- and he might have already talked about it what is the status of Seymour -- steam was Timorese still thanks Mike Richardson we're still on the PUP which means that patriots have. One through seven weeks now he could activate him after six those evidence that have two more weeks heavily. -- in my estimation here where they would have to make a decision one way or the other on Seymour. If they activated they would have three weeks then further two decide whether to actually put him on the active roster or put him on the -- are for the rest of the year. They get two more weeks to play with a on PUP in the three more weeks to activate him after that and that's about it. There is no more status on Richard Seymour which like you can more than that but that's really kind of wind where we are witness. All right let's oh do one more -- from -- is. I -- a few fans missing the days last minute drives edge of your seat -- yes those were great games but I enjoy the -- war being put down by Brady and company. I relished. In being way ahead in points and it makes me appreciate the house that villas built. Closest score I want to -- kickoff the rest of the way I am fine with blow ups -- that was in reference PFW early in the apartment you know. Now what keeps your entry -- you into the blowout thing her which of the game should be played close of this week keep your interest in ball. And then Jimmy -- the only way we lose on Sunday of god forbid Brady goes out the referees paid off with the skins defense alone puts up 48 points. Probably good point. Thanks for the for the email again you have your chances sound off web radio at patriots dot com. What do you think of the defensive matchup of the Redskins against the patriots offense he that you could be the patriots toughest test so or this year are you buying or are you selling. My argument. That I think that they will be in that it could give the patriots some trouble. Web radio at patriots dot -- are let's take a couple moments into before we. Top of the next hour a year ago -- it would Bram Weinstein of the Redskins radio network. Let's get the patriots locker room so you can have you were changed to hear how the members of the patriots media aura going after Iraq patriot cornerback Tom Brady this week."
[50:41]" artwork that I thought methods that I have at it readable once."
[50:48]" Well we've been couldn't put some work in and and they're third an excellent defense so. Really got to pick a working towards this week it's very different scheme and we played some very talented players. Rush the passer and a -- interception and Sean Taylor I think he's two years ago. There really challenge him. In all -- pretty good against the run well oh should be a should be a -- for a three. I work hard to get to know these guys seem him play in the while. And try to put our best out there."
[51:32]" With the -- career start. -- you. You know where you where it --"
[51:43]" Very -- And -- are we on now won ten when -- some hits and slowdown that much as long as you. Welcome back to preparations more prepared you are I think the more the slowdown this 'cause I think he can anticipate more. Just my 14 start on so long time ago. But you learn with each experience in. Each game and you try to not make too many of the same mistakes over and over again it -- He's blown smoke promised he's not -- on his team that. So I'm sure sounds alot like some coach go to could say he's trying to -- you know. And doesn't work for us it was. We know we're getting ourselves into though apart one at best defenses in the league and they've been in every game this year afford to could easily be six you know and and they've really brought it to budget teams who didn't understand that schemes that much though. We've got to I -- that we need three great days of practice -- a lot of improvement we need to make to be ready for these guys. An -- phase of the game. They gotta be careful with these guys their time balls thrown at the years until it makes interception and I'm enters an excellent player as a first year player as a rookie pound some very tough cornerback Shawn springs and Fred -- Carlos Rogers. Those guys can make plays and while there are looking intercept the ball look at what you got four picks it's really impressive group of linebackers with speed they're very fast. A break well on the football. You know it's suitable partners for guys right there ready to hit it hit the guy with the ball so you can tell they're very well coached. What you get when you won best Hall of Fame coach a coach gives this Stella considered I think it's really. But different type scheme we played in and has some very unique challenges. And we got to be prepared for -- among them much it is yours. That is that right well I -- and then in the fifth are fighting history to you. He well it's it's important -- art in our season and -- and it's important step whose. Trying to improve -- football in so. I'm not. I'm not you know personally -- looked like I think this team has challenges each and every week and coach told us this morning -- in November yet we're still in October at you know how far we need to go on which improvement we need to make. And it would be great to have put their best out there against Washington this week could. I don't you want I. Albion bit by about fox -- They don't unless sex on knowledge -- quarterback though probably. One of the best passer which is we've faced all year so they got guys -- on the -- that can that can rush the passer that can. Disrupt things in the passing game brought the timing and a it's a very challenging bathrooms. Yeah physical secondary that I think that I can say they charge in -- In all groups in and their linebackers are very fast and aggressive. On the secondary is a bunch of ball ball hawks that are playmaker is -- intercept the ball. -- receivers at the line is very athletic for a lot of movement to their defensive line so. It's not like they have a whole lot of -- points style. Have you heard this and we plan and we got our picture that we're all doing right thing on the same page or communications and hopefully we will to have. You know -- play well."
[56:18]" That of course patriots score like Tom -- short while ago and said the you know. Patriots locker room and visiting -- members of the media of course Washington in New England as you heard from the conversation their. I have only played seven times in the regular season overall. Redskins holy definitive 61 advantage overall in the series the patriots have not beaten Washington. In the regular season since 1972 the very first time these two teams played each other during the regular season. Where am Weinstein who cover the Washington Redskins for the Redskins radio network roaming the sidelines joined us here -- side patriots playbook. -- thanks for better little Tom what is today it's certainly appreciated."
[56:56]" They have found the one stat that leads the one to believe that the -- might have a chance this week about want to once they Lindsay you don't think they do. But I think they do actually Bob not only that the habit of the way the patriots are playing I mean everyone's sitting here. In all of what they're doing you're breaking records than their quarterback -- having the best he's in any quarterback never -- They're coach of a lot of budget Super Bowl bell they did it would that it would be open -- right now really shouldn't be every -- the best you can read -- bit and got rival buyout the other -- Peter declared by the way it -- it quite the extent I think you're gonna run into all the credible."
[57:33]" I really believe that as part of the reason why I've kind of started our conversation today that way because I'm I'm going through this stuff. I think it what you don't want. Defensively the Redskins look to put up I think. The biggest challenge to the patriots offense thus far this season through seven games especially as athletically inclined as they are on the secondary."
[57:52]" Yeah there really that in there in the secondary salt -- will run later probably the factors that he's fine this has been a big difference this year in terms because the bat speed because they brought in London Fletcher so -- tackle from the middle linebacker position. -- the Greg Williams -- that doesn't blitz. They -- maybe three or four times over the past -- which is not a far cry from what they used to do they play a big umbrella almost cover too but. It'll blow when it's this weekend -- Sean Taylor playing what appears to be a deep center field position. And anyone who attempted to throw the ball people -- paid dearly for it. Teams have tried to go underneath the receivers get punished big given up very few long plays this year. And they're rushing for a barefoot or not the height typically get pressure on its own. But if they can get -- trouble. And that's what we get down with the reds in this year awaited jaguars then and now you'll have given up your reports the -- They have played very strong offensive pat thinking what quiet the Packers in practically shut both of them now. And while we're not putting the patriots and the collapse with either. Read our of Britain and the Packers -- actor Jon -- volleyed attacked at the time that they played them they with the number one up half -- played and for the -- because. Certainly we have a few weeks the look back on -- say we have a shot that we -- there."
[59:10]" Barbara we talked about how the the secondary certainly quick and fast. What did they do in your estimation two in particular -- Green Bay in the Detroit offense that really proved to be so effective."
[59:21]" They support them -- to do they get want to do which either choose to run which neither he does very well and that -- be different but the patriots as well they're probably better run in the either one of those to do. Really going to that they port authority export both quarterback recruit short passes and make plays. -- after the catch in the regular not allowing a lot of those the break win team -- finally broken down try to pick shot out of -- they're intercepting the ball -- got covered more ground in. In our opinion anybody in the NFL. And ya gotta take your chances like throwing people out I like there was it is that the major good -- about the way. If they do what they've done in -- it underneath between nick and it the people that would be a different than what the -- in -- given up are we don't know directed exactly going to do they play the way they have against. Predominantly passing teams which they have over the past few weeks maybe not Arizona as much of the lines of the Packers that what you're going to the is that giant umbrella. And you'll be watching it from -- going out -- people -- anyway -- 30 yards off of 120 bike that your a couple of good its popular just all of daring you to try to control pat. And not allow him to cover the ground to make the point."
[1:00:31]" And mystic. -- once they covered the Redskins the Redskins -- that we're joining us here inside the play -- speaking of the year second billion for a moment obviously it's been a bit about. The tough stretch here for Shawn springs -- cornerbacks were because of the issues. -- his father Ron how is he adapting how is he getting along a week to week."
[1:00:49]" Bottom he did okay mean you know a a under the circumstances sub yeah he's been through this unfortunately with the other for a long time now get a kidney transplant which -- well documented from the former teammate Emerson walls. I'm -- diabetic for a long time so for someone who unfortunately only six years of age you that series help that you for a long time it's on that deal that response period I'm. Obviously what happened here -- the shock. On the surgery that rod spring wondered -- were supposed to be a very routine procedure to remove -- from -- That job that ended up turning very bad for administratively and he missed the entire week last week it's stated Texas. But he came back and played a big game we have found out afterwards but he actually do about it the week prior before the Green Bay game that you played that it's well and his intention -- to stay here. And stay with the team until the final decisions are made on what happens in terms of this father. I'll -- we're assuming he's going to play in an all things considered I think he's handled it pretty well."
[1:01:44]" It sounds like it and -- certainly our prayers -- with him and his family it's hard for me to believe that runs brings his 50 years old I remember him when he's in his heyday with the cowboys coaches. Were all getting older here. Bomb London -- place certainly has been outstanding and we had 13 tackles last week against Arizona patriots into very familiar with what to play through his time in buffalo. How has he improved in your estimation this year what has he done specifically if you can identify one or two things have helped his game step up."
[1:02:12]" He's the MVP of the team I mean there's no question about it at this point this season he's the MVP of the Redskins he has become a heartbeat of the team -- vocal leader at a decent they have a lot of very talented player a lot of high draft pick. But he's been the one that has stepped up but immediately taken over in. He just knows Gregg Williams he -- in the stated it very well he obviously you guys probably got to know him pretty well he played with buffalo. Extremely facts and he didn't -- when they did you wouldn't believe that this guy can make the metal plate that he can. But he's just a smart player and you know we were kids don't get -- you'll use this term super smart with the players of this start super smart at at super smart it's quiet he is good defense right now he is the one putting everybody in position he is the one rallying down. And he's become the vocal leader of the team and and like that that there's no question like how the season ended. I'm he would be he'd be the MVP of the -- he's got. Somewhere close to seven tackles. And the last you're going to let it leading tackler result tell over the -- 20 guy and he's going to look what's that you know like 60 as a way you do what you may end up leaving the leading in tackles Maggette gave returned an interception for a touchdown last week. He's been everything they hoped he would be there a lot of question about signing -- the topic they find obscurity at the age of 32. He has he doesn't look like you walk to step and he has been everything -- of that sport kind of turned it around."
[1:03:35]" On the other. Front line the -- single out I think would be Andre Carter because in what seemed like he's at a fairly strong seasonal overall it's -- safe to say that he's your most effective down Lyman on the defensive side."
[1:03:47]" Yep by far up -- it'll probably would be to stay healthy but he never can he's playing pretty place consistently play or increase they've they go to Cornelius Griffin under Carter. I'm hadn't had those problems and actually kind of described -- what they let him loose which will last year a classic game. 11 back in the last 12 days. So he's come along well and you know the thing about him is that he is so highly conditioned. -- a lot of respect in the coming in the second half that eventually went on the offensive player where belle bats -- that -- Not particularly big guy probably only ways in -- about 25255 but he is he looks like he should be a poster. For like G._N. CR me -- guy has built and he has a work out freak. And he is someone who has been effective -- their -- don't know if they're -- to -- you -- pass -- and he has. What what turned into that he's not big and that dominant -- like at the white -- need it would hope you have. But he certainly get the job done and never wears down and I think that probably that that your."
[1:04:54]" As the year deepens appears to be certainly the focal point of the Washington team on offense there are some players as well that I know patriots fans would be familiar with not the least would -- Santana Moss certainly Clinton Portis Antwaan Randle El on the offensive line -- Jason Fabini and Pete Kendall Kendall for obvious reasons because he's lived around here and went to school here. So how about some positives from the offensive side where have you seen the improvement come more do you think the improvement is still to come"
[1:05:20]" maybe the best thing about him -- Jason Campbell comply we -- wait a long time to get a call back like the one you're gonna have it will solidified a position is that a lot of time. And this guy can play -- he he had but after a he's got all the tools he can move he's smart he's got -- long ball he's extremely accurate. I'm the issue here -- I think you're the biggest concern for the reds epitome. They wed at hack it by the there's the -- they've had big -- in three of those are terabyte 14 of their last Rio didn't happen. They're -- 427 halftime lead. But they're dominating play just the about it. Not that I put away the picture it the second half whatever problem. And they've become much more conservative team in the second ample room they don't throw the ball marks they try to get the -- going a lot of injuries across their offensive line. And there have been a lot of -- your lately. That it stayed open up their playbook and they don't try to take more chances -- become more -- passing oriented team and a lot of people believe that they have to produce it would Campbell in Boston coolly. And it's what -- the well. Did eventually go to sort of blow somebody gave the second half and they are people who won 14 point home halftime lead for the giants. Our big nearly blew the game to Arizona after being up by 15 heading into the fourth quarter against the quarterback who was basically out there with one arm. And so there's a tremendous amount of concern that this team doesn't have the killer instinct. And you know we like -- kittens from the defense's standpoint. But I think everybody there on your -- if they go out there and somehow get a lead and even get to score lead like they've had in recent weeks. They -- hard if they get on the ball they're going to blow to this team and I think more than anything everyone's waiting for kids the China. So a little more propensity to open up the play -- even with the league tries to protect it and it's almost get them this year so hopefully that'll change that I think they'll recognize that this week they're going to have to post more than 14 off that support which they have the last couple weeks ago when --"
[1:07:20]" Two players wanted to touch on brand number one affected Jason Kendall apparently already has a favorite and Chris Cooley is tied in to go to tell us something about Chris Cooley what makes him so effective."
[1:07:31]" Police because we fits in well he played this at a hybrid you know they they have worked with psychologically the double what they call an H back here. That you can't block he would have to stay in more in the second half of the Green Bay game -- a lot more in the last week. Based on injuries have been rattled off Atlanta they've lost three starters on their offensive line and it had a -- kinda -- they've got other Nixon -- that kept -- al. A practiced throughout the last couple weeks according. Haven't probably been as effective as they'd like him to be in recent games. Only -- effect they've had a cannot hold it and try to protect the quarterback a little bit more -- eat -- he gators and what not going to be anybody would be. He's got great hands he catches the ball traffic and you get an -- ability to break tackles not moving particularly fast but for some reason people belt off. And he has -- way of turning our guard -- in the 1520 yards it. And he might be there -- topic person to cover. I bought you know in general I think speed or speed you can have a hard time finding someone to keep up with him which you can play -- And attempt to cover portion of the field with him with Korea profit a man albeit to a to a linebacker we have a satellite back yet to stay with him. And the reason not to give him enough room to get open great route runner. The terrific player and in the red zone he is their go to guy."
[1:08:49]" What you might be a little challenge there for someone like -- as Thomas -- Rodney Harrison."
[1:08:53]" It is undated it eating he's a good match really I -- and they they try to export with him. And -- often times in the last you know couple weeks they've loaded situations where they're now back protecting more than they had the first you gave leaving. The fullback Mike sellers in allowing Clinton Portis is a very good -- they are running backs staying in to help protect equally as well this strike might not be blocking but they needed an album they've run into a situation where they're just trying to put a band aid over the offensive -- hoping that everything will be okay and that as you know force there handle little bit in terms of -- You want to put a number different positions you will line up on multiple wide receiver he wanted to from the slot one but the traditional identity a lot of the fall back. And so you don't really know where he's coming from but he certainly gets the job done for them."
[1:09:41]" In the player wanted to ask you about -- is a -- that just signed there -- first this month and Keenan McCardell now -- we didn't play last week at least based on what I was able simply charge but. Will he factory to this offense."
[1:09:52]" All for him as possible all you know I think it'd look I don't like they're just not running that many -- for like that that they were couple weeks ago when the injury it would mean reflected in the -- did you know the bigger the bigger thing with him playing here and getting playing time is the fact that Brandon -- isn't. And that's really kind of been the biggest disappointment on the team they spent a lot of money to bring him in a couple of years ago and he just can't find his way now he's on the field don't like catch this year you know a perfect world the Redskins were working at Santana losses the number one brand of what the number two Antwaan -- other number three James correct their number four. -- has also part of the depth chart and gotten so far into the dark out of this sport he studied in time on the field except for -- plays. And so they brought in -- for depth. And you know it's at what -- of the nicked up and digital lost the next stop -- game already this year and so that. They felt that they needed someone -- reliable award in terms -- a -- now -- stats speak for themselves -- may not be -- player that he was. But they can rely on him and that's something that they really haven't felt --"
[1:10:59]" All right then going in this game certainly afford to the Redskins know exactly what they have ahead of them you have to reside in what a -- a lot of people already think right now -- as the toughest division in the NFL only NFC east. The cowboys at six in one and you've got to the giants bite into arguably the two best teams. In an entire conference and the Redskins under the -- game back of foreign twos so pretty obvious to see what -- win. This Sunday for Washington would certainly mean to them. Does a loss. Know how how much does that hurt them."
[1:11:29]" Well at least you know. At least they're playing the eagles and the giants Q and because that's good good news about if you'll -- doing what I think. It would have been devastating if -- some problem that Arizona game and they almost -- it did go up there three and three weeks which would have placed in the near -- must win situation to keep up with their division teams it would have been it would be very hard pressed. Not view this differently than I think they do right now which is. A big disrespect it I mean from what I -- the player walker today. They globalization B 17 point underdog to anybody and they don't care they're doing what is blowing people out they understand they probably were put New England has done. But the total disrespect it you know -- afford to pick out one of the best he spent in the NFL they've got one of the best scoring -- in the NFL and yet. That prognosticators believe there's 17 point underdog to them. If they lose it's going to be hard I mean obviously because of the teams and the way the giants are going in the waited about a week ago and the -- played cowboys yet. And they get the giants wartime and so I think they feel like you know it ain't over in regard to their division they just can't fault too far behind it I think they're open to make a statement this week whether they're going to be able to do that shocked the world I don't know but I think that this deal was there. Did they haven't been given the respect they're probably -- to where they are right now."
[1:12:52]" I think it probably common theme with a lot of teams right now only find out what the spread is. Going into the game you mentioned does some of the DL late leads that though Redskins are going to open this last week 1216 lead in the third quarter. Over Arizona and had to hang on as that been a topic of conversation in that locker room."
[1:13:08]" Yeah -- topic particularly you know all the players after the game and a number of them you know we're basically saying it didn't feel like they want. And that they got to figure that out and you know -- this has been a transfer them in the second half they've had a hard time. Move the football and score points in the second out they'd be getting out of some relatively big leads in. In the majority of the of the last month game they just came inaugural. And it happened in the giant game Leo I don't know whether giants would be if the reds it was three you know the dart throwing three maybe think with a spiral the wrong way for them. And you know this -- game this would have been devastating to them and I think they all recognize that -- again it's been the focus has been more all of the coaches really this week and the suggestion that the coaches. You don't let it loose a little bit and stop trying to protect the lead because as they've learned themselves but those -- will dwindle. And unfortunately you know they've walked a couple of halftime lead in Green -- against the giants and they really. What do conditional loft a one to Arizona outfield gold knock on wider and they not attempted to run a trick play on the two point conversion of the remnants. So -- for the Redskins perspective I think they understand that. Their record to be better than that on the Indy. They believe they should be better than this and they believe it's their own limitation that have held them back in the -- in every game they did it and in most of them they've been leading prohibitively. They just have -- have a propensity unfortunately that didn't leap up and I think they recognize that it's we. I'm 50 that it got a lot of bought the book and so they're just going to have to be better for 60 minutes and stop being so good for just 30."
[1:14:40]" Worldly than do you think this game will boil down to what to the Redskins. Have to do must do in order to be able hang in there and have a chance to grab one on the road."
[1:14:49]" You know I think more the most important executive of the deep balls but I haven't seen him do it. So I'm relatively confident you know that they're not going to hit it -- a lot of deep ball with some of the other teams are doing with the states has gotten that bought so that they can. Limit their drive to force them to go along way he would take only 45 yards -- and a chunk did not. 15 to 20 you know maybe the clock runs and things. Kind of work out their -- grip on the ball better than they have you know they. They were all run team a physical one team on the -- of -- issues have gotten him into a situation where they're not as effective as they are they're gonna find -- way to run the ball better and try to control the clock it mean to this this is not a team that should be getting into a shootout with anybody now with the way their offense is going toward making at least force. New England to take time off the clock as they moved the ball on the -- can can run the ball effectively if they can just find it held it close they -- have --"
[1:15:44]" Absolutely that's the way it works -- Weinstein who covers the Redskins for the Redskins radio network Gramm thanks again. For the time today and safe travels up to New England this Sunday -- I look forward to get some good -- that it will try to there's rain in the forecast. Thanks --"
[1:16:01]" Appreciated a lot in -- why standing in the Redskins radio network joining us here and saw the play book and a -- for 15 eastern -- start on Sunday at least -- rain in the forecast now -- can change here obviously is. Many -- undoubtedly aware it's been kind of -- out there today which is what the team is. Practicing indoors today the of the Dana Farber run into -- facility. Just to Jason -- the stadium so in that regard. It sounded to me. Little like he's talking about what I was talking about earlier in the opening -- shell. You know fact is is that this team probably feels disrespected. 17 point underdogs as they are now this team is played defense well off against everybody that has been on their schedule was far they have not allowed anybody to score more than 24 points in a single game against them. They've been in every game they've had leads in every game which they played arguably could be in May and probably should be six in no rather than foreign to. This season. I mean you know how much. Can't let Kerry you when you're on the road and you're you're going into a hostile environment when you have to travel and play. In front -- an offensive juggernaut like New England will ultimately find out on Sunday but again I think it is legitimate you know. Aspect of the match up to look at. Whether or not via. The Redskins can not only a match up against the patriots put beat you know whether or not the only emotional actually play a factor on in all of this. And whether or whether that it can play a factor in all this quite honestly I think that you know at least it at some point. Sometimes the emotion coupled with the ability to play is all the team has any can. Big difference. Give back to some emails web radio at patriots dot com and game coming up in. The 15 minutes will look here from Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs the hall of Famer himself on the conference call earlier today Jack in Worcester sent this -- he said them the show keeps me from driving everyone crazy during the week because I'm able to get my patriots fictional world Jack appreciate it that you listen to us in the U of W. With that being said do any view -- see any place on this team for mr. patriot Troy brown. I want to see him retire after this year but I would like for him to go out as a player than -- PUP casualty. Yeah we've talked about this Arnold Jack and I know the POW guys have as well if he is physically able to play and again there is some doubt as with a body is -- quite frankly we don't know we've seen him. In the locker room planned timing of the POW Edmonton quite a bit. The Bruins a plausible scenario would have him return some time obviously in the next two weeks where he could be a Jack of all trades again without he would be in special teams you know but -- receiver and maybe even in a nickel back situations that he has that experienced think everybody would like to -- him get back on the field to play a little bit. Before he actually retired I'm I'm would I would feel like. Both parties in front of -- Troy and the patriots on the same page with -- But obviously he's in the twilight of his career that like to see him and actively in if he does. My guess would be he'd be that swing kind of guy and we've set a couple of times already that may be a guy and again I'm just going to name out here has nothing to do with. Any perceived lack of performance or effort but maybe a guy like Kelley Washington is put on the shelf for a while in an effort to a you know get Troy brown back in their for for swan song who knows. I definitely think that next year. And we've already talked about this a little bit at this point that next year I think it's highly unlikely it's not impossible. But it's unlikely that you keep both Stallworth and moss around you tried to be the best you can. So in that regard I think there's still a place for a guy like Kelley Washington and certainly Chad Jackson and his team. So if he has to sacrifice this year should Troy brown can finish on the active roster and and finish as as an active player and as a contributor to this team. Wouldn't shock me in the least to see that happen. But that's the latest as told the latest and Richard Seymour as well it really is no latest you still on the PUP Canon Florida says I've been talking about his game since the final gun in the Dallas game. In everyone within earshot or on the Internet forums thinks I'm insane. I completely agree with all the points you're making it would -- bulletin board material to your list every national media sources -- packed with columns -- sidebars about the November 4 matchup between the -- in the -- I read in one Dallas paper after the cowboy game the line quote no team in the NFC can beat the patriots. If there's any team in the league that can play the disrespect card this Sunday if the Washington Redskins right -- and right on I mean you know what you may get by one week you may live talk about you may live to move -- the next week but eventually you keep playing that card it's going to come you know they'll -- cart. Is going to go back and bite you somewhere. I mean again it's just human nature it eventually catches up to you you eventually start to believe you Rome I. That's one thing the patron to try to take very very careful consideration of that they don't fall into this hype machine that. Is being created about them from fans and from media types and even people like Chris Collins were now what are find shocking bomb. -- distance from Andrew and candidates is John anyway it was really hoping you patriots fans. Would focus exclusively on the colts came in two weeks and make it to be the center of your entire season come on. Pick up popularly would be would you fancy bestow the patriots colts fires right now. Okay then that the colts happened to beat you guys entering the season game albeit he pats fans will throw -- tells thing although. No undefeated season or all know we are not the best team anymore on -- nine. That's what I wanted to hear in your showed a couple of weeks to hear your fans throwing in the towel. We colts fans however frankly used to being let down in big games and take nothing for granted anymore believe it or not if we lose do you guys that I'm -- will be better for it. We've been undefeated before only to be left down in the playoffs. Better during the regular season nice. Please start talking about how great an unstoppable the patriots are. Please make the colts patriots game to be the key. -- entire season but not Andrew and can right now that the colts fan from Camden Ohio. Andrew thank you for the email. -- that's awesome. -- truly am -- mudslinging begins right I love it. For ten days away but what the -- no -- like the present right. Good stuff Andrew I hope by the way I do hope -- on I insist I actually insist upon hearing from you next week okay. I got your email and today and thank you for that it's great. I know that there's colts fans lurking in the audience so far you're the first one that have the guts to step up and make yourself known entered. Awesome thank you for that. Chose you'll -- a person you're you're you're certainly willing to take the stand and willing to take a chance and I hope we hear from you and more like Q. Especially next week back I would even issue a challenge to -- colts fans that we hear from patriots -- next week. That possible is that even possible. I think there's a lot of -- the colts fans out there going to find out we're gonna find out William in Whittier, California John thanks for answering my previous email have a few quick comments regarding the notion. Although unnecessarily running up the score. I feel strongly that the game should be played for the full 60 minutes. First the opposing team -- fielding 11 defensive players who were getting paid 20 or 30 million dollars to stop football team from scoring. If they aren't doing their job it's certainly not the patriots fault you know. William that is bin -- also suggested by several people and it usually comes from people who are on the dishing out rather than the receiving end. Of these offensive beatings. If you recall if you're if you're ever -- laughable team that is getting hammered. And someone is accused of running up the score usually the people that cry foul are the ones that are the ones that are receiving the punishment and and I'm not blaming you you know it's just that's the way it is that's the nature of the beast. You know so while you're you're actually correct there's nothing that you said -- that is incorrect it's all right spot on here it's not patriots fall you know we will go back again for the umpteenth time the cowboy game. You don't Kyle Eackles scored a reason the -- is because the clock was stopped and they had to run another play because the cowboys stopped the clock. There have been certainly some well noted analysts Dan Marino for one I know on CBS who failed to realize that at. And in in bad job by the producers for not tell them because you know he didn't watch the stupid thing. So you know hey can I tell you. Those guys are going to go out -- play in especially guys like tackle Heath Evans and you know people that don't get a chance to play and run the ball all the time and what you can you think the gunners laid down. These guys approached. They have pride they want to play they want to get into the end zone. Just like you know what you go in the -- the first team out of the game of the second team continues to run it up well you know then shame on the deep in the topic here but not stop in the second team. Are usually right in check you know he says it's. Those players on the other team professional warriors have a lot of pride it is not the patriots placed to tell them. When it's time for them to stop fighting. Third every defensive play even if we can't change the outcome of the game is an opportunity for the players. But that last play is where a nose tackle fulfills his dream of making an interception. Maybe gives them last -- a chance where Vinny Testaverde makes it touched over the 50 season in a row you never know. So my suggestion is to have -- of the flag. Each head coach should be given a -- white flag. If it gets to the point where the coach -- the game is hopeless for his team. And they want to stop fighting then let him throw the white flag he concedes that game and it's over. You tell me how often do you think that play would be thrown. What am I think that may be the best female the week. That's really that's just -- spot on its right dead straight on. You're absolutely ready you gave coaches you give a red flag and one sock right. Challenge reply now if you give them all white flag to put the other sock him. How many times do you think that white flag would get thrown in the -- that is never. You imagine -- the coach actually through the white flag what -- players were thinking how they would feel to be humiliated that's it that's enough. Wallace talk about you know running up the score you're actually correct V yes. -- muffins but the horse hockey. It's just it doesn't make any sense because if you gave somebody -- white flag or white towel the pro and they'd never throw it and so good job by you for a enunciated men. Explaining it spelling it out for everybody who's listening shot that the job in nice email. Home you would go this would come from Dick who says why did not ever hear about men at running up the score the year he broke the touchdown record. I seem to remember some bigger blowouts against Houston Chicago Detroit Tennessee and -- Denver. It's true. True Wimbledon system -- a couple of years ago yeah and and we pointed out yesterday as well. Terms of running up the score against the dolphins I mean the year that the the that the dolphins went 16 in hope or 17 an election saying 14 on the regular season and then the three playoff wins to get to the Super Bowl in 1972 during that year. They beat the patriots 52 to nothing. Big -- yelled and screamed back then about them running up the score on the patriots. on May have -- you know certainly not an extent where we actually remembering 35 years later. So anybody that says the patriots are butcher. All the runner up the score elation delighted that did pay them no attention because quite frankly they're moronic they're idiotic stupid they don't know enough. But just the way it is. I don't know football they don't understand it sports I don't understand sports period. If they think that running up the score is a problem. You don't get it so until you get it should be allowed a player game. Scott since this note is this pretty cool to spend your radio show -- for the Dallas game pretty cool stuff love the show thank you Scott I'm glad you found it. I hope you'll keep contributing question I heard with what keeps your interest and are -- bad oh gosh now. I've opened remainder of the ladies in mid -- right between -- remember being on the other end those plots and I hated it. Hated watching the patriots. My memory of the -- going up they were always it seemed to be the ones getting blown out. You appreciate it more when you haven't won or went to a lot of losses think about the Sox the folks that are Yankees fans that are around my age don't remember them winning. And always make in the post season. Now that the path through the toast in the NFL and the patriots will it's pretty cool actually single pets. Could email thank you for that -- Scott and now that you found as we hope that you will continue to a -- glad arm. We get. Update here from Mike reached -- Boston Globe in his Reese's pieces on Boston dot com. And as the practice this afternoon was being held in said in a -- fieldhouse Richard Seymour was there. So I'm we think Mike reached for the use of his tidbits here because obviously doing the show here we're not able to get inside watch practice would Richard Seymour did it. And the POW guys they did have an okay good thank you for updated gear Richard Seymour did return to practice today. He's -- course the first seven games seem more at full pads practice today which now the patriots the clock started on him. I did mention -- bitterly they have now up to 21 days to decide whether he'll be placed on the active roster or if you needed to be placed on the season ending injured reserve. So you got three weeks basically working out CP can get back out on the field in the physical way for you. But he wouldn't be back at practice I mean rest assured games he would not have returned to practice today if he wasn't at least very very close. They were left him on PUP for another two weeks which they could have done. And within the rules they could have done that. So he's getting closer. The only thing that would set him back is it during practice you know he might tweak something here or there. That would be a physical setback -- and they might just decide well now the we've already you know be you know on the -- when -- clock with a he's not going to get better in 21 days so. We might have to IR in anyway. That's the only thing that could go wrong here otherwise it fully expect him to return to the field within the next three weeks. Rodney Harrison. Was quoted right before practice today on what. -- return would mean the events he says quote. -- at a guy who has been a tremendous mainstay on defensive line again it's been very big physical strong can do at all. Rush the -- stop the run just his presence along with his leadership would be tremendous for us. Of course I feel like you give us the sport just like when he when we get any of our guys back. So -- that's the latest on Richard Seymour -- for a Troy brown he is still on the PUP as he was not present at practice today brown still recovering from his offseason players that were not present for the media access portion of practice today which means the I would have did not participate with the injury list will be official probably in the within the next 20 minutes no Mitchell Eugene Wilson Sammy Morris Eric Alexander and Benjamin Watson obviously the ones that are I think of concern right now would be Wilson defensively. On and Watson on offense would be nice to see we couldn't get him back in the in the lineup some form or fashion because having his ability to go over the middle would certainly. Play right to some of the strength of the Redskins present on the effects. We'll see if he can get upgraded at some point during the course of the week but right now it doesn't look good for four Watson. So and that's the very latest thanks again to Mike reached from the Boston Globe. And NC when those -- it's we got a bullet from the Red Sox today. Carl Yastrzemski is going to flow throw up first pitch to you know that -- vital -- you feel about this. And we really haven't touched on much -- idea of the assumption here is that many of you being patriots fans are probably also Red Sox fans at least to an extent if you have you know and ties of course the bind to the New England area beyond just the loyalty that sports teams. And of course with game one of the World Series tonight at Fenway Park and in the year. Colorado Rockies being opponents I don't know how you feel about it overall I mean are you lock stock and barrel a supportive of the Red Sox and their effort do you feel somewhat wistful that may be it's taken some attention away from. What is obviously an historical run thus far by the patriots football thing screw the Sox let's talk some football. Now a some of the people feel anyway right. I was just curious coming it will probably get into -- us a little bit more tomorrow for Thursday chauvinist game -- be completed will already know the results of game one and believe you -- If the Red Sox do win game one against the Rockies tonight then this this place will be buzz in and this place I mean by all of New England will be doesn't. So and that might be good topic of conversation for tomorrow I would certainly think so let's wrap up today's program by him given you a chance to listen in the conference call with them redskins' Hall of Fame head coach Joe Gibbs of course -- and the Redskins on on Sunday afternoon the matchup between the coaches -- certainly one of the more intriguing matchups of the page -- level here. Not only with hood bill -- second in what we talked about his his obvious you know take of the game but you know. Many of the coaches around the league including guys like Belichick have learned at the foot. Of guys like Joe Gibbs if not -- gives himself. And the fact is is that you know you know he needed a bit of a respite which you know is why he spent some time away from the game. He went auto racing you know owns NASCAR team and they came back to the game but I think that being away from the game might have set him back a bit we talk a little -- that the early in the program today. But it looks like he's finally starting to put some things together the way that he used to have it in under under his first. You know go through as head coach of the Redskins. Still got a ways to go a special in the offensive side of the ball. What it looks as if he's putting some things together that really means something -- while in Washington. And whether or not you hate or you'll love the Redskins there's no denying that Joe Gibbs is still and always will be Hall of Fame coach. And that at some point in time. He is going to put it together you just hope it doesn't happen your week. He's got a deep and that apparently can play a little bit this year answered it looks physically to be able to match of the patriots. Question is the Redskins have the offense this week matchup against the patriots defense and give them a chance to win the game. Probably one of the keys certainly that will be talking about tomorrow's program you know will feature courts we'll get into the patriots locker room. We will hear the conference call from redskins' offensive lineman of former Boston College product Pete Kendall W tomorrow show as well as well yeah Russell Baxter. -- info research coordinator from ESPN Russell join -- as he does each and every Thursday on the program plus will get your prediction -- your score predictions. For Sunday afternoon's game here at Gillette -- between the pats and the Redskins -- members now the patriots media visiting with head coach Joe Gibbs."
[1:36:17]" Well yeah Elijah that's the desire to. The along while actually. -- bigger -- or your elbow area code and error and now -- human -- is gone pretty well afford to him. And some improvement or -- settling for."
[1:36:40]" You know -- on gadgets I think you know stepped -- each -- every week I think. You know we can be more pleased that they have great attitude great guy and you know hopefully young guy keeps superb."
[1:36:54]" You know Joe it's it's you know we all hours of the person with knowledge are one through Super Bowl if you want there's -- Definite maybe a different time but free agency now know that but you do it with three different quarterbacks which is of when that -- about it that's a pretty amazing situation how did that come to pass the -- were able to do that. We're in a bills got radio were all right needed another right."
[1:37:18]" Well I think first of all what I did it along time ago you mentioned and -- different of this world I haven't done or didn't do. So -- coach that always can look back at the when people always bring you know they mentioned Timmy. They treat their quarterback that thing out -- evident mystery broke it you know we had. You know Heisman and I think as a top of the game and you know what we want tires playing extremely well great competitor you take that Williams you know that this. Come back from. Situation where you really back up as one of the great stories in sports he got back in the air and it is an injury that any of the abuse about a great story but he has now though. I felt like the top of his game great quarterbacks strong smart -- got along great he is a real leader and it got within him. As one of the smartest guys I've ever coached it was a very good deep thrower and he you know worked his way in support or use the top of his game I answer that question about it and yeah history as a quarterback for -- it -- figure it was I was blessed and -- 383 guys get really apply."
[1:38:38]" You also want conscience that that offensive line was or period of time the you with they were always well house and I that's a big item today still -- off on July have some success."
[1:38:52]" Yeah I think -- this year has been injuries they're that certainly I think we did have ever get out -- line cheers you know kind of that. Trademark of our football things Thursday like that there -- a long time ago modern day football. Is that different they don't I have a very nearly as well."
[1:39:14]" But -- still time left. What -- what's the biggest part. You know the biggest difference and and and Parra -- sharp of course was a ball that but he was assistant. Your medical with a lot of changes free agency what's the bigger difference for you -- which."
[1:39:36]" Well for the -- differs from may is everything about the NFL head abruptly changed that said the NFL changes there roughly 30% a year and -- go 11 years ago. -- that way to get players is different. I have free agency and a salary cap we have much smaller draft that was totally different. The play on the field that dramatically change the fact that. All the fire -- and -- fences rarely set just read there were coming hard has it changed the way opposite they opposite has suggested that the one thing that has not changed the one thing that's down that same for. Meehan about sports and over a long period kind of human nature. Oh thank him make changes I don't think you ever going to change things things aside at the same thing to scourges. And I think deal with people is what I've found. In this fortunes in over the years that their -- not being involved with people is that human nature does not so I think people people or people. I think NFL all the other part of -- dramatically changed."
[1:40:43]" Your view dollar check somebody's done. What is now we've developed."
[1:40:48]" Pretty pretty phenomenal really what it it take a look at it. I would say that that -- from the owner that the coach and a coaching staff personnel department is really what they'd done it here under -- politics leadership. They've acquired the right talent there there. -- another fellow across the board very very solid I you commit forever though they can go by the weakness they've they've done a great job art talent. They do a great job coach Burnett and you know I think that. To be able to put that together that takes everybody working together they've done a marvelous job as far as I'm concerned and and all the different aspect that's hard to do I got a great appreciation for an extremely hard. And they did down a phenomenal job -- the current pace you know they're probably got that almost -- for our projected imagine."
[1:41:44]" I show everybody talking about patriots and -- loss. Some people live speculating perhaps -- perfect season. Premature but we'll wondering well talked about the patriots use to motivate your team"
[1:42:03]" I think it first evolve all the talk about the pagers and now is is deserters and he has about thing right now that's. I'll paste it at all almost all modern records and so rightly so about it and it ain't nobody's nobody's really paying close tellem. And I think that. You know that that's held serve up here -- thing about it is that what I love about the you can't talk your way around that he can't fool your way around it. He can't church somebody and it's not going to be a lot. I don't believe in liked and in I think that what they've done and is earned ever -- and you use you earn respect the pair and -- there you know. On the paid to do that got -- unbelievable thing and so. A look at added say it's only natural people at Connecticut and only natural people are planned you know it work that it can be one of the best teams involved and it's not. The -- so think it's all learned. They beat -- different percentage here nightmare therefore can serve for three years but they're not -- oh and nobody they played. They've been pretty much on a roll and go right over the top of her by they play"
[1:43:19]" Jodi talk more about their past quarterbacks certainly has some great running and opposite because of the trademark of your records in the days. That (%expletive) team since it went over marquis Penske -- it you know what it's accomplished approach there."
[1:43:33]" Well they're not ready to -- had a real tough here that's tough fraud last year certainly on the biggest this had you know our parity sense oh well I'll likely and you fell accurately measure that -- or do and we kind of that long hard at elected that and I think in offseason and we tried to address and that things pretty hard over there. I think held us players really helped us and you know I think happened London and players helped it as a -- camera show there and I think so far you know what's going to happen Serbs were tremendously concerned this week that if he can that he. You're hitting your face jagr not fair bit. Have plowed everybody under yeah there's been etiquette because they've been up against make getting come closest albums you know but -- RD -- you know for you know it certainly benefit partly -- you know our our record."
[1:44:34]" It's not until you -- if essentially you have -- when you -- because I."
[1:44:42]" I think it's almost -- in the NFL to have him quarterback play great you know according or appeared talent thereby making the playoffs they're here. Of people going to Super Bowl generally but they have -- Somebody I. A level playing -- but he's a corner. I'm -- at such as the corporate corners obviously I think you gotta have big course with Eric last year because hard data recorder we tried to address that Nazis in the ethnically you know certainly helped ourselves alive you know according orally you can you know cover of people out there I think that you know obviously the -- sense -- the patriots this. You know particularly at a lot of attention on now has some tape and I'd be and -- and got a lot to it their party getting things on -- very talented they're very very well coached with a -- a trademark of as spell check and our state and we just -- and they had there some special things that the that they dent is outstanding they get there they're pretty.
