[0:00]" Well -- I'll have fallen out little hope this is patriots played without Superman poverty and it's on the I thought that route briefly book breaking down -- game yeah go ahead and -- it and because of the fact that they're going to. The top -- and he didn't want to go bought. Pie could play that they've won -- and the rest of the 2000 love an NFL he's back up. Back on and they want beer cans some of the ones that do between you and you want to break payment. Right now."
[0:32]" He year news. John Rollins tell --"
[0:47]" Now ago now works. Patriots playbook for Thursday welcome inside. Gillette stadium and are patriots dot com radio studios I'm John -- of W progress is complete for. Experts as the week. We'll try to push onward upward if we can't figure out what -- talk about that -- bomb first thought about quite honestly. The main thing that I wanted to currently get started with today has to do with a lot of the year conversation that. Don Shula brought to the table or cup the last couple days he's been quite -- time against his program talking about that very thing. This morning on ESP and Mike and Mike in the morning Mike Greenberg might go with head coach who look on his against an 8 AM eastern time power. And I've never seen someone back pedal as quickly is that 75 year old -- did this one or several earliest. Bomb and we'll get into some of that but I want you to -- be thinking along those lines we've got a couple of other things on the agenda today in addition to some conversation here and with you via email courses we always do and I'm -- after from NFL network one of their premier NFL reporters going to join us here in about ten minutes. And so every shift will join us and we'll talk a little patriots we'll talk a little. Randy moss talk a little NFL going into week ten and of course as we normally among Thursday's right at the top of the 3 O'Clock -- Well we'll have -- back in the Richard courted -- you'll join -- we'll take a look at the schedule around the national the bully for week and the tunnel coming on the program. Today also in studio I am pleased to be joined by not one not to put three guys on Tuesday if you were here early this week introduced do you young man who is one of my him graduate students in the course that I teach an Emerson College in Boston called Sports Radio ironically enough two week actually trying to -- about the media. Spot and I've got three more of my outstanding students who are in this class on who have come. Said that they wanted to come in in trial little sports talk radio here with you patriots fans because undoubtedly the fate. Were also patriot -- so in light of Feldman Zack -- throw in Bethany khamese Rawlins studio today and I and I hope. If your patriots fan and whether or not you appreciated it from point you from -- about a -- Condit a great job on Tuesday. -- biggest problem is sometimes Tom doesn't breathe in between things of that but don't think we're going to work on a class right. So today anyway of alliance we have Zach and we have Bethany and I hope that you you will look engaged them in your thoughts as well because first and foremost you guys are patriots fans -- I figured as much -- that was one of the reasons why you mostly wanted to be here and try to experience will be that this in and talk about football team which of course has got to do your passion. I'm asking Jovian. A fairly typical question but I think this'll help in terms of kind of giving those who were listening is everybody was listening here's -- page -- they follow football closely. Not everybody but the overwhelming majority of our listeners here in this particular venue are out of state or out of the area and they do this -- come -- was every day. -- during the week of the chicken they download our podcast is everything we do life years available for podcast later. If you can't make it well he that your point 24 peonies and beyond me but the can download them podcast was to a later time and here's it is a diehard football fans certainly first and foremost obviously -- going to want to come here for the patriots -- It's that we try to give them -- couple things that we do here in the show are it would certainly give him a lot of opinion we given the latest news comes down from the patriot we give them interviews from the players and the coaches in the media people cover. You know -- the patriots but cover the National Football League is well and I'm -- after being one of those -- a few minutes so what is it. About New England in this football team what got you started I mean is it because the on the new parents did your family did or it was something about doing patriots may be that just sort of clued you in a few years ago last australian."
[4:53]" And I'm certainly a patriot and that I'd be lying if -- that the patriots fan from birth. I'm from -- sisco I grew up that area at the daughter's -- rooting for the niners and in the in the early 90s either -- that's true comparable restaurant before and -- in fact you can make an I think a very good argument that one of the best teams multimillion dollar -- teams. You know in the 1990s which of course the patriots are trying to get up there with the moment level this year. No doubt about it I grew up with Joe Montana Jerry rice Roger Craig Ronnie Lott. Though -- obviously I've followed them in the great athletes of of them football in the early 90s late 80s but. Being in New England it's hard to deny that that the -- are the team around here and it's obviously been been fun while everybody New England. In again ball whether their entire patriots -- the jump on the bandwagon. People love football around here and my first on the July. So you get guerrilla you're actually get."
[5:49]" And they though the -- you know full Monty your second you're a native new Englander right porter -- in Connecticut okay so in that regard then now I would assume that the you've been patriots in for 100 brainwashed for life. That's perfect all right. So arm then what is it about following this football team it just kind of suck you went. Well I've been a -- pats fan my whole life so it's not related suck me in just always been on the team more in the game. I just really like the way especially now Celtic are on the team I think he's obviously everybody thinks he's one of those possible time but. You run such a tight ship that I think it's something to be admired I don't care about all irrigate. I think yet in -- advantage where it's not that big a deal but I just I very much admired the way he runs this ballclub and he just on the great tight ship. -- laughing okay if you get the big smile on right here. So now what is it about the patriots on a you're also a native correct doing that are. -- sure I was in the you're not too far away from here so in that regard then what is it about this team that is kind of pulled you wouldn't."
[6:52]" And I am and I'm -- I think in the end -- actually had -- until network hosted the that's good thing because it was a big controversy. You know Comcast won't allow and one -- the network on their cable system once it's on -- ad out and I might -- of and it is there anything better though is there anything better though than a pretty girl who has satellite television. Not much they're just I'm talented it is you guys obviously you know -- all that right it's it is it is a good thing. I also have a satellite at home and I can't do about it -- I can't remember and I'm not."
[7:34]" You know chilling for satellite TV at all -- I used to work for cable company number years ago but honestly I don't remember what it was like before him. I can't do without. My 12 year old at home you know you guys on the classless -- human took the test if he will flicked back for as a what channel is the -- game both like to. You know without even looking at the -- he knows the channel number no guarantees everything you know he's almost photographic memory but I you know the best part of an NFL network -- Is and again I'm much ill informed and not because Adams come on the show a little bit I -- watch in the Wednesday -- place. When they do you know a couple of games the week in the what they do is they mix the game highlights in with those some of the commentary some of the post game comments from the players themselves about particular place. Big plays that happened and author -- stats on the screen like that I. That Timmy really adds to complete and total fulfillment -- enjoyment of watching a game as it does a lot of the explain especially when you get a controversial play happen. Conference last week oh my god I mean is that the penalties called. You know in Sunday's game and we spent a lot of this week obviously talking a lot about that with a not there's any -- controversy and will jumpy and to some of them but. You know if there's ever call on a particular play -- going what was the deal that what was the reason -- They actually bring people in an -- players but they also that over in my prayer in whose you know if -- supervisor of officials and they'll get reasoning behind this and try to explain it so if your football fan. An unbelievable feeling to be watched -- ever. To the correct before the patriots superbowl -- championship last year against the colts. For the whole week preceding up -- the game they've showed all the patriots big a playoff wins. From the past five years the rituals -- Childress -- game against the raiders all -- came to games allows a lot of fun to watch I I really enjoyed going back and walks in the classic games because. Quite frankly most of the patriot games that they most games that the patriots played in. In the playoff exit during the civil war run. Have been classic football games they haven't had too many blowouts haven't had too many games that weren't good football I think that's the more that's the most fun about watching those games in an hour on the hour you guys ever watch. The old NFL films shows -- and Eric -- than -- and that -- and a lot of 49ers football of course you know from especially in the in the late 80s -- in in early ninety's oh oil on the ladies' man."
[9:56]" Yeah I."
[9:58]" Scenery you know as -- there's the voice of god it was about to John for send that was the original voice of -- NFL -- he passed away. Once he'd when he died he died secondly I think about when he almost 30 years it gears don't look that up. But I'm pretty sure but this guy if he's the one that talks about the frozen tundra national a -- for yield is voices one of the most recognizable voices. It may be -- in the history of broadcast and I think he has been on for a while calluses voices very close. An amicable as an FL films right now the to a really good job but they while I was watching a show on yes -- they've never shown they always -- the NFL -- shows -- had a show about Bubby Brister. And -- I was -- and I don't -- nobody -- is obviously but -- want to -- he'll probably -- like -- pulled -- and I watched the entire -- Bobby -- let me -- it wasn't really that -- actually -- what was -- about Bubby -- that actually -- he was like I -- was -- I never -- useful -- a top -- quarterback -- came out of -- and then -- just -- every single -- an opportunity he was never. He was almost like he was never in the right place at the right time right and the and then one time he did get a he got a shot and he got hurt with the Broncos front -- Elway or tired right I mean. He's it was it was actually pretty fascinating show about a guy who was for the most part a career back. You know and that and that Bubby Brister. Would have been 1981 -- 89 or nine Indy was one of those two years I was doing a promotional thing at disneyworld. The TV stations were at the time and Bubby Brister was competing for another television stations team they're called the goofy games Disney. In it would basically team for markets all over the country that worked primarily not all the time but primarily an NFL markets. And Brister was competing for the Denver team. At that time as he was. Remember it was because he was there in the offseason if you started -- back a look at the rosters of her final. But he was just as nice. As the day it was long I'm honest to goodness in do you think you know guy because most of the guys who competed were like retired guys in the -- otherwise a lot of current athletes on the -- but he was. And -- the thing I remembered about -- rooster was was the fact that he was just incredibly generous with his time with the kids. -- it's for one of the few times I've seen in a long time an athlete a current professional athlete I mean actually. Literally it down the middle of floor play a little kids. It was stunning you know of course national TV game one run over and you know film all -- stuff but -- I just thought that was incredibly nice yeah I was a good guy that -- captured he's he seemed like the ultimate goal boy from down -- he wants you yet they -- real thick southern drawl and he's -- the from -- they did a great job portraying him as a -- I think from Louisiana Tech I think -- right but also the double check and it followed Terry -- better brescia -- effective but not mistaken so it's tough to -- passed away in 19841984 so if you haven't heard his voice bio means -- different recognize our outlets pause your produced a couple of moments with -- do is we wanted to jump into a couple of things."
[13:11]" After in the aftermath of -- pats colts Super Bowl 41 and a half. Such as it was enough Adam chapter does such great job -- football league for NFL network joins us now here in the patriots playbook. Adam nice to talk to you thank you very much for the time today. Just can't make an attempt -- well listen first and foremost I have to admit that I heard this morning -- with -- Dennis and -- EI and the failure in the area and an obviously you go on every week with those guys from I'm glad that you can actually. Teach -- folks in New England some actual football knowledge because as you know were elements of Casey appear."
[13:46]" Well it's -- it's a pleasure to the other guys they do a great job and they let me get tibia in the Boston area that's it was a big thrill."
[13:52]" Let's -- kind of a neat place to be right now not only because the Red Sox won the World Series but the patriots have this you know nine an old thing going and end I guess the first question I would have is the obvious one is this team cable Eckstein -- estimate."
[14:05]" Actually that -- him as it appears that question -- I think that's. When you look at much -- chance that -- do -- 60 you know do you see any -- that's scheduled this persona that you're lucky and it's going to beat them is the period yup that they were Rhodesia victory over the football four times we have a number of mistakes and breakdown does that then New England could lose but short of that I don't I don't see -- again I just don't see that happening."
[14:28]" I think the one that we're two games -- this point in time as we kind of surmise that we started talking about. 60 you know Lee from the fan's point of you here at a major well aware probably of the week to. And -- talk is actually believe it not died down a little bit over the last couple weeks it I think people -- kind of like all right let's just kind of get through the meat of the season or at least let's get by the colts and now that the colts game is completed you can kind of it back on and reflect a little bit. Yeah we take a look at the second half of the schedule and there are a couple of games actually three games that certainly appear to be at least somewhat of a challenge. First one would be Baltimore but then the way the other ravens play this last week I don't know about that I got to find company quarterback and it's certainly not going to be what we currently have. Pittsburgh is certainly worthy. But the Pittsburgh game is here there were at Heinz Field I'd feel a lot different about it and then of course the last game of the year. Add New York and of course there's the old age old thing that's gone on and you know in the last years anyway over resting your players before the playoffs. And I wonder. Because we've seen this team with New England going both ways with -- they played players run up to the end and they've rested players you know based on the the last few years. Because the pages of the imposition to have an off week after the game with the giants I want -- if they don't like you know decide to go forward and really give the giants though you know full metal jacket."
[15:46]" I think that's the whole thing they couldn't buy that -- that came to rest players typically doesn't work out very well for a reason and so I expect him to turn to god I expect him to do. Everything that they have to do with an apparent to win every game that they play I just think that that's doing a operate that could have operated out legally get a different I think -- this -- you know what I can they will get to put their right --"
[16:08]" Well that I think that's going to be a major topic of conversation amongst the fans over the course the next seven weeks even though. In all those -- the three most likely places where I think that they could stumble I wonder though is based on your conversations with not only folks around the league but even those that covered the league is well. -- do you see anywhere. Is there are hidden sort of a snake in the grass somewhere on the on the line this includes you know Miami in New York in in their own right. That actually could cause this team couple problems."
[16:42]" Which -- let's go that'll look it and the receiver for Dudek. That did this scariest games and then an emotion -- it is usually what do you not expect given what is -- showed a commitment by -- getting nowhere that's why I -- yeah okay I thought well. I I am executed -- played -- game despite implicated in a -- was restored -- the winning it I you don't. Philadelphia home just destroy them too much to get -- Foxborough it don't say it. Deal now. Okay no I did anyone know that night. Baltimore's dangerous team -- of the fact that any issues did -- not playing good football right now and I don't see them -- got his capabilities to keep up. -- Baltimore -- a couple of -- all -- games this project planning what did not illusion Foxboro. No -- glad that the giant semi so they didn't want those games. Actually job but do I think they will know -- and I did anybody in their right might think they will melt."
[17:42]" Were you brought up the point that the patriots could be their own worst enemy that if they lose the game could be a game that they lose more so than another team actually. Winning now based on what we seen with his team by the way and I know that when we left our program here yesterday. Just immediately after Randy moss was named the AFC player of the week -- to believe that they can put them -- it -- certainly deserve that. Do you seek a problem area on this New England football team that actually could lead to something like that happen."
[18:10]" But it's gonna have come from them is that they that's still over the football. Any game to lose the game and and let veterans they're not to lose every case they win the turnover battle every game from the sport I would. I would be willing to stick my job the second we will not lose initiation okay if they did this come -- they lose a game will be because. They lost a turnover battle I promise you guys don't do it Iguodala it's terrible that they were gonna lose this season. -- is it so they can happen so that you will -- got to beat seven and eight what that that the most -- that we didn't. Yeah -- not convinced that all the linebackers can cover pat covered but it definitely beat -- I don't know about that either but yes we saw weakness is that a team where they are very many rule they're very few if any. And I just don't see that -- all they had identified area that would be one noted that start for -- the darkness of people but. Again facing yeah okay I'm not -- they just -- because education that they didn't want to let sheik."
[19:13]" What speed that by the way and not Jessica -- in particular but we you surprised that the day with Thomas was the odd man out in that four to five defense is set up last week against the colts."
[19:23]" I think he's hit some injury problems right now I think they know we just he -- some issues there that I think a bit try to get fully healthy he's not fully healthy and I think that's. Holding him back some and in addition to that he tradition of pulling into Atlanta back."
[19:36]" Right exactly okay -- a separate course tougher medical network he's the programs in fact that you might see him on around the league and also NFL total access. We were just talking here in studio a couple of moments ago item about you know how NFL network is -- in what it does and how it provides the football fan with a and obviously great venue if you're if you're fan that this on the you'd you'd want to have what's it like working in in Disneyland so to speak."
[20:03]" I -- it's great little portion of or questions tremendously talented people. You know Marshall Faulk in retaliation rod which game people I really like to they're they're good guys to work quickly and again it's a ball around the clock and and you know lesson at this time this morning and I enjoy this morning I mean it. -- like purple. And you -- again I don't know what I just finished because Alaska over the years the national patriots that you're judge center of their work -- surprised to see whether or not it was 60 -- you know this simple programming around it caught -- they're just great. Started greatly prefer football fan so if you like football editor of the rookie -- if you don't do you should be good and I understand that."
[20:42]" Well there's a spot you can go if you don't get NFL network and you want to complain to your cable system what have you it's I want NFL network dot com correct."
[20:51]" Yeah disclosed feel like -- don't you want and if so now of course which to direct TV or doing -- really cable noted that's provided -- in the still like like I did. Yeah that's right evolution directv AG Atlanta from that work I get all that specifically to Beckett it's tremendous."
[21:06]" Absolutely bomb -- is do we mean I realize that we have to going to go to the other the motions your over the next seven weeks if not New England are are there and at orient or Indianapolis. Who's capable of challenging year."
[21:23]" you named corporate -- incidentally. If we've we've got to do is schedule there's the postseason schedule the post is scheduled have to weigh in two games it and could -- the Super -- one will be probably against them. Upstart team like. Tennessee Titans which I have that they -- community give them difficult battle because they're so physical and so tough defensively but. Again there are many PSA he's staying with the patriots this year."
[21:53]" It individually speaking at the a lot of fans federer also you know continuing to kind of a surmise what we do. About personnel moves in the off season you know we can't enjoyed this year we have to -- like what hidden and have and over what's going to happen in the offseason and and it at the top of that list is what to do about the you know the plethora of wide receivers that we. Randy moss Donte' Stallworth do you keep the Kelley Washington around what what you end up doing all these guys blocker side for a couple years."
[22:19]" It broke into the country for law and I think that lawsuit goes I think they'll be back I think it's. He just want to go anywhere ultimately they don't want -- and waited to settle want to get that deal -- and I believe that they will darkest -- I think Russia but it big roster bonus options delayed a decision whether or is the right move to bring them back and fairly deep addition dont forget their charity actually just activated the -- uniforms stick -- the second pick -- nothing so. There's -- its futility in these decision of probably every fractured should be so fortunate that makes."
[22:54]" You feel like one of those guys if moss does come back and I agree would be in that respect I do think that you'll find a way to to combat will he come back. For less money than he can get in the open market."
[23:04]" I believe so I I do believe that that's. No I didn't he's been in Oakland he's been in this city been depleted that the water intro thing and he doesn't like and it's important to know what it is launching -- and build our chickens there. And -- you're always there and Tom Brady there you don't get the chance I have a -- only. Do you get the ridership grew well the -- don't know where it's what you want to go to this -- either assure yourself. -- of 40 she'd -- Indianapolis I mean. Maybe that could only awarded that you could say -- year in year out they're going to be competitive they got a quarterback that coaches the front office but that's it."
[23:43]" The hum other issue to rest do if if we're looking at potential weak spots in the Damon out like this week's -- all the some that we talk little bit on. Our program here's it was a trying to improve. The running back situation because Laurence Maroney is thought of I think is being maybe I don't want to say fragile -- say he's not as. Durable as some others and with Sammy -- being out for the year now on injured reserve there was bought -- mean rumor at least initially this week that maybe a guy like -- deal will be invited back and Bill Belichick put the -- on that one would run up the name here just in talking of Ricky Williams and whether or not the dolphins would ever be willing to find a way to. Get something for nothing because I don't think he'll ever return to Miami what is situation similar to this being the only way you think a guy like Williams comes back in the NFL."
[24:31]" I think he was that simple three to 13 will be interested can't debate green day teams that will be in bringing him in crazy good running -- still I think he can -- somebody I think. And and he's looking editors who have gotten the guys right now correctly -- that it stated but -- the in -- building an -- and having him in that the beast you know having him he would not having them."
[24:58]" Well -- don't we've made a sort of a little bit of history here last few years have taken guys who were thought to be -- points."
[25:05]" You took -- you can make hostility towards a conclusion news on TV I think everybody and that we can't quite -- it's doubt."
[25:14]" Optional it is all right we rehab. Bodyguards you did and we rehab people's reputations here."
[25:19]" I -- they're you've got a great job this week it could have mediate. Can't take an agreement grants and put out there expect nobody can be justified"
[25:27]" it's also true no don't have to be -- Koreans are going to go on over the top -- but that seems to be the general consensus -- something what you know what if you put a guy like that. In rights situation where he surrounded by guys where he doesn't have to be dominant and it all that pressure on him which is we almost on the the -- struggled with. That might be -- where he can work."
[25:45]" Listen it's ironic I I would side umpire that's that's great guy like I like big guys purse -- like committed that. But they're reputed facilities for him -- then that they would they would -- roster spot that blue thing don't forget that they kill us just that there are -- hard time getting dedicating yet -- Janet Jackson out of their roster -- but -- that the groups have been --"
[26:06]" Yeah absolutely and plus you know we all know that you're at least in the -- when -- like personal players who could not only do a position but also -- special teams or what have you which is one of the reasons what Troy brown got activated this week Adam over what you go what about this -- team. As -- has caused you to stop and say wow."
[26:23]" This used to the team's performance of any anybody who watched this season the Albert watch -- it is an all time team one of the great until watching. Well agreed to spend nine weeks sort of that's working they've got to do over the final seven of them and the play us. So yeah yeah it's hard until large -- not think every other Russian."
[26:46]" Well it is I think we kind of thought at least initially that this could it be a a special year he kind of keep put that off -- can keep pushing that back on the table little bit but. The fact is is that you know if you're ever going to jump on the bandwagon that's probably the time to do it to follow a team that whatever chance now if doing. If New England is able to go 16 and now what does this put them in the pantheon of all time things"
[27:12]" right -- that it's harder to maintain the -- rat yes unblemished record Terry dedicated with. Came to making change graduated they do it's free agency didn't the salary cap preparing showed today to make you know would depend -- big people it wouldn't do it did to me because that'd -- great --"
[27:29]" Better than. the Packers but have been the cowboys the 49ers."
[27:33]" I I attitude identity I was a little -- who would disagree with the -- greatest I can't say can stay competitive but to me in my life but in my lifetime out of bed again before he got."
[27:45]" I'm absolutely absolutely. Adam thanks Olympic enforcement -- time Wednesday it's early to judge that you've got in coach if you want to hear more from -- chapter in. You don't get in a film networking go to I want NFL network dot com. -- you can receive the only year round television channel dedicated to the sport of football how about the fact how about the fact that it is Randy moss is coming back next I like that significant."
[28:15]" And beginning that they need to resign him and I and people say all he he wants to use in the patriots. To get more money in the offseason I do agree I think he's where he wants to be he's playing with what was quarterback -- he's never going to play quarterback as good as. Poverty -- in so I mean. Why wouldn't you want to stay here. Sacrificed a few -- Which here has bunch anyway and one at the Koran and have a career because I think if you keep put up numbers like this -- he has the talent to be considered. The bad for -- is -- how -- receiver of all time. He's he's got the bat the bat skills and -- Jerry rice better of Fred -- are all still on Maynard got. And better overall guilty he's he's faster he can jump -- he's taller he's any runs for a guy who does all that. He's not just speed guy he runs very good -- he can run over the middle he can block so I mean this guy you'd have to consider him as one of the top two or three if not the best wide receiver of all time. I think these days here with Tom Brady he puts up the numbers they'll put him out there. The only the only thing is he miss those those crucial years in the middle so he might not have the numbers but he has definite that he'll."
[29:21]" I would agree with the skills but I would also say that the one thing that I noticed Randy. But he doesn't do as well as some of the absolute top notch operational on -- right -- nationally. I don't think he goes of the middle as well as some of those guys that doesn't mean that he can't he did this last week against the colts we -- sort of a mixed reaction that he made one unbelievable wanted to grab but then -- a couple -- that I thought he could have -- he had his hands on -- the -- a little -- he didn't come -- understand -- sometimes -- Running the proper routes human rises some of the best athletes the reason is because today. -- to run there's not as much space in which to run your route -- Sanders well you've got a guy like Bob Sanders working I mean there's impending -- getting ready to smack you and that will humble anybody I don't care how physically talent that you -- that all humble anybody so. In that regard I think that is the one area that to me kind of separates guys from like -- from a guy like moss --"
[30:24]" Here's the number of very good -- attributes but the thing that stands out about Randy moss is obviously guy. Which Jerry -- in which Cris Carter other great receivers in the fairly apt. Though he may be more willing to rely on his eyes you know is very great hands but Jerry rice obviously rains more sharp route than Randy moss. But you know we want to be here because he's no longer considered a bad guy in the locker room he's no longer disruptive. And is well over even touchdowns that either one shot. Of the number receiving touchdown -- in Oakland over two year period ends so obviously he performed better. When he's on a better team in Wendy's on the team where where he doesn't have to open -- now. Where he doesn't become or off the field but -- rather this story on the field that we know we want to be here. There's really no reason why you would go anywhere else and I'm sure he's willing to pick -- at this point."
[31:16]" Is it obvious to you guys. That Randy moss. And I guess we also put Wes Welker and and done -- style or to a lesser status here. But Randy moss which has made Tom Brady that much better a quarterback this season. I'd like with a weapon at home and he has talent. But not in -- and he can -- in my step up again it. But these you know that that the 1 thing that I am glad you brought that up because the one thing I've noticed an and it's kind of like -- around the bag and I don't know what to do with -- had -- little. I've had this little thing. And my thing here is that I I don't think in a lot of ways Tom has been as pinpoint accurate this year. Absolutely as soon as being in previous years and the reason for that is is because. In previous years he's had debris he knows the answer anymore exactly and this year he has guys that can go hit the ball and when you're you know. We need to go get a pass that was -- their -- goes and gets it doesn't hit them. Between the 81 or doesn't hit him in the hands prime example is what is there and though though the Washington game. Both of the -- some passes to Randy moss. That they should've been interceptions because they were they were poorly thrown ball and Randy moss -- both both defensive -- jump around -- he has his own for now people get -- I've been getting emails graphic artist by the way that's been throwing me -- catches of Randy -- it catches and he put you've been moss crossed it and at this kind of green who's coming down it was really funny actually basically the new."
[32:51]" Poster -- the -- spread version of bat of by the NFL I agree I mean it it's like. I think -- get a little careless in that sense because of the ball he threw -- I don't know who we threw to but it was the interception the first one -- the colts game. If he throws a ball the Moscow might be a catch it was the -- intercept the one yard I don't remember who was too but. It was a ball that would have been that would have been caught by -- and if if if moss is the receiver there right that that might be good balls rolled because it was a must thing was Stallworth. Because it doesn't moss right terrible ball and a direct you to that's been the case all year the balls like that he throws -- mosque he caught he looks like hero yeah we're -- doesn't throw."
[33:28]" While it's kind of jumped on the wrong what I thought and it didn't have a time doubt but obviously Dante is not the physical receiver that Randy is in the right on that play had it been -- my guess is it worst probably been an incompletion. Even -- one week. That one and a great pass at the end right unbelievable yeah they what he's been he has been accurate to Wes Welker -- He's been thrown the ball he's been -- bunker right on the right numbers I would also are doing a lot I would also argued that those route that Welker runs more conducive accurate passes because resolves -- yard -- he's Carlin over the middle now the thing that makes -- so incredibly. Valuable is because not because he's got great hands he's run those routes in and finds a way to get open usual route sometimes have been but we've use this analogy a couple of times he runs low to the ground and so. Because he's so load the ground the throw comes at an an angle where almost darn near impossible for defensive back or linebacker this particular instance. To make a play number one number two makes him tough to tackle. Because he's already a smallish guy anyway these incredibly quick. He's down on the ground I mean he runs low so it's hard to bring down. That's what makes him more valuable I think than anything else."
[34:38]" I think one of the other things that mason incredibly valuable as a fact. He has a nose for the for the first down marker in the turn intense that a lot of wide receivers Mark that's what a lot of -- youth -- cut off their curl rout in our -- right at the right at the first down marker so they -- if they've come back the ball or they get tackled -- actually short of the first down. Whereas walker will run his route through three yard pass the first down marker so when he catches that he can still come back to the football and protect the ball and he'll be tackled. Past the first markers like that's a very very valuable thing especially for a possession receiver like Wes Welker -- having knows you need to have. He need to know where you are in football field at all times I think is a great knowledge and -- intelligence of where he isn't football field every single --"
[35:19]" I just I think that you know it was almost one of those things actually wanted to talk about his a couple of weeks gone thank you -- really kind of a small blame to go we'll. That may be be good bye week topic now that we're here in the -- we wanted to bring that up an emblem and -- did because I I do think. But he hasn't had to be Brady hasn't had to be as accurate. Some -- because of the talent of the receivers that his head now he's funny accurate the general Annan and he's play worst quarterback. But the fact is that he's able to take chances on passes than in previous years. He could not take a chance with for fear that it would be picked off like what we saw happen against you know over the past it was into the all or does last week. You know he's got receivers that will go get it as opposed receivers who we had delayed in their hands."
[35:59]" And I think that that makes the debate between who's a better quarterback meaning or Brady. Finally finally you can -- you can -- validate -- I can't speak -- it's okay it's only radio you can you can validate the argument now because now Brady has the weapons that -- used to have. And Manny go through that has the same weapons. -- her right now. He has I think he has better Manny has a better tight and they'll. And I think I don't know I don't know I think that his -- wide receivers are are better are better than with a with a healthy Benjamin Watson against Dallas Clark would probably at least initially think the Clark would be a better blocking tight and certainly as good catching there was no way he has a spot still enough that one away but I he runs know what he's either very good route runner which -- and you need to be must have been Watson's speed. But one walks and runs -- around him to -- that the point is. Why Dallas Clark is is -- top tier player in the league especially in pass catching and I don't -- years and a great -- a child who knows we can it was two catches that was a huge factor I think overall in the the patriots having successfully come on the nickel package and deep into making sure that. You know Clark had a guy assigned him at all times."
[37:07]" I've been very impressed by the amount on the radio that in the pocket Theo yeah nautical lines -- great they've they've been tremendous and just imagine what what would be like if they had to consider that running back at this point Maroney. I've been injured him anymore and at this point Kevin -- he's been the most -- that running back. So if they had healthy Maroney and they had a running game that was -- came out the defense have to prepare for that even more. Right now at the fans can prepare for the patriots and try to stop the passing game have four or five defense that I know."
[37:39]" I've been able to do you know. Nobody has been able to do your arrival emmys kinda like we're going to -- more than they cover two where they going to it would defenses are going to umbrella out. Going to try to take away the sideline route in the deep roots in the going to make the sports pages throw underneath. And I at all wants it is back week one week two of the one way that you going to be able to spend this team. Is you're gonna have to number one take with a deep roots of moss won't kill you. The number two you're going to have to -- get up on the line of scrimmage and you're gonna have to be physical. With guys like Welker and Stallworth and if Benjamin Watson the tide in the meant more to come off the line yet to literally pound them into the ground and due to the patriots for the patriot. Did it to the call back at 2003 and two of the of the of the rams in the you know on the 2000 12002 Super Bowl. And that is be physical with those receivers and and allow -- and knock them off for the -- a lot of it is predicated on the timing I think that's the only way you have a chance."
[38:31]" I think that's one thing that I wish Adam kennel it one of talk about more is that you ask them about how how a team can beat the patriots and I think that's exactly they need to do you pretty much have to do. Instead of putting eight guys in the box that a lot of teams do fear is trying to stop the run you you put. As little guys in the box possibly try to make that run the ball because I don't think they have that power back. I announced and remorse about backing that compounded I don't I I like Laurence Maroney I think he's a good back but I don't know if he can be. If he can be a very good. Every day every down back in this week he doesn't he doesn't run the ball -- to attack the -- out like. A consistent running back to do I agree he's more of -- I think most fans would agree with -- they've Reggie Bush type or not it's not that president of the catholicism but he's more of a Reggie Bush -- back where you want to use and you might want to use a month sweets and that's green and a swing passes maybe. Greens on the back in the you don't want to run between tackles and I think they need to pass in house anymore on. -- that would have been great addition by now we've known that you know we're going to solve this problem next year -- in April for the -- hadn't yet. We're going to solve that problem with San Francisco's pick they get a top my -- yep thank you for that it lives we solve that problem contract and the fan and you are mental thing is -- trade Maroney too because I think it ought to help keep them both I don't know although I think a team like how. Her not a bad idea I think you can get good value for for -- when a team who has just -- an inside runner who's looking for that outside back maybe like like Cleveland to some extent because they -- have Jamal Lewis. But he's more of a he's a quick back but he's getting older he's more more -- that used to be maybe they're looking for a guy like Rooney who can take around the corner. Maybe you could get something you can get some good value for all."
[40:15]" I'm not going to give up the ship -- a guy like -- because of the we've seen you know his -- running -- for year Minnesota Marion Barber development what I into what I think right now is -- the toughest running backs in the NFL now on the respect Adrian Peterson may be the best quarterback in the NFL right now but he's -- as he went home but what he -- coming to a 90 at least that's pretty hard and -- Buren up at him -- built because they have. -- the sale at a so what he's still it is really remarkable is phenomenal this year and he's probably one of the best untold stories outside knowingly Adrian Peterson is going to Minnesota but it would all the respect Marion Barber for my money. Is it tough between the tackles with the ability to stop and move and cut the the outside and utilize speed. That kind of accommodation isn't back I've seen in walnut. Long time I mean he's tough to bring down he runs hard he has a reckless abandon for his body I mean he's. He's tough guy and so because he comes morally -- come from the same kind of mold. Number one arguably Alva glen mason was a -- earlier in Minnesota that he was -- those two guys in the back -- it for a year of magic eye on the ball because. Those guys would how well at all how this went into that is what I want to know because they have Ohio State -- that there you -- answer question answer right there. But the fact is that I think Maroney -- and develop. But I think what most people were concerned about is his -- Billy yeah."
[41:40]" And that's that's part of it too is that that's part of the -- ability questions the fact that if he runs through the tackles he's going to be more apt to get hurt and that does that -- that altogether that's spells trouble for me out I like him as -- as like him as a running back. But that the biggest thing is that he's not terrible enough and if you the more you run in between the tackles. The vigorous -- older you dare the patriots to run the ball and that's why I think -- Indianapolis Stephen is last week and is actually a great match up. For the colts against the patriots number one because they've got good speed it on the -- smoke and we saw that we would -- that with Freeney and everybody. Number two they've got good speed in the line backing courts have you stack of the secondary to -- the -- game he asked the papers to run which are able to overcome some of the -- In the middle of the field because of the media -- that and you and you forget -- that they had some injured wanna get -- linebackers -- made a big difference committee I think you could have you know and arguably could have turned the table. In their favorite course we will never know I mean you'd you'd never know but what I will say. Is that when the game comes back here if it does indeed come back here in January the AFC championship and as a cold -- If the culture completely healthy and I hope that they are because the one thing you don't want is people who you know make excuses or leave excuse is out there on the table you want to beat a team. When -- full strength on the patriots are also -- a couple of guys that probably could have used as well and it certainly have -- full full -- healthy and Sammy Morris Aramis and hand an obviously he would have been a big factor I think overall especially having it so you want teams to be healthy. But I don't think coming here is going to be as daunting task for the -- people would think it might be actually sense -- who won the last two times that they play here but I think it's safe."
[43:18]" To say that a football game in January. In New England can present the number of of roadblock in the patriot they're going to need a running game at that point. Because who knows what the weather's going to be like you need to have a background game. And I -- a pat uniform long term because he -- fills them all the kind of it's new trend of running back and -- Stephen Jackson Jamaal blew a big physical guys that don't that early run look to the ground -- back quick but power they're way ahead for yards two good guys out there that in there and third down situations where you need to pick a -- down well. I think they need to keep him around because he's big he's wrong if you can stay healthy. He is his potential to be a guy like Stephen Jackson -- all open injured but if if you're healthy you're pagan can run run between the tackles they're endless possibilities in the league."
[44:09]" I think -- brings -- a good point about the -- patriots offensive scheme versus the colts -- at the scheme at the game those come back here for the today intricate or whatever. I think the colts are actually built a better team built four New England weather then. The paid for the patriots are. They they have a good top front or Joseph Addai who if they need to they can they they showed in the first half his game they can -- just decide to carry that carried that team they don't need Peyton Manning threw for 450 Rs anymore which. Couple years ago when they played in here and of slowing or wherever they needed an inning because it in ever running game that -- but he wasn't he wasn't at full facility if lucky at some points. They needed him to throw for three and 54 yards and he couldn't do in this kind of weather now this team is built. For January football -- when it's almost like the teams have switched roles and the patriots team that would be great in the dome and the -- would be great in -- whether. Funny how that works at."
[45:04]" At at it to is it's great day for us here in the studio we have alliance we have. -- and we have Bethany who horror Sports Radio students from Emerson College in Boston talk a little football and we want to make sure that your part of the conversations so if -- injury emails web radio patriots dot com. Web radio act patriots dot com you can also call -- program as normal five -- 5437482 in the area code 585437482 there's no real question of the day to. Normally act and it's -- but it wouldn't with the real question they would often on a particular topic. And I -- today is one of those days haven't about two or three times a year. Because obviously you know 17 weeks -- all the times we thought about that well we usually have the opposing team talk. By -- always off. They're the team everybody here in the stadium loves the bye week at me. Because that it -- aren't so what are we talking about and then I realized that you know this gives people I think who normal business -- this program. Jeff but he catch up on things the patent office releases on the relief check in the playbook in the -- in converse -- But as we -- take stock of where we are at you know little past the midway point of the season one. Number two. Like Adam -- toll on the press which is something that you know may never ever ever be done again in NFL history of the papers were able to run the stable which he says they will. And you didn't hear him just a short while ago in the program that he would basically -- his job and then all L network of people -- would jury has got a phone number I knew he would I've well figured you'd be right at the front of the list he wagered his job -- L network that the patriots will go 16 you know. I mean it that's how competent years I don't know who's going to actually -- a job -- another you know. Fact is that he's confident that the patriots will run -- I mean I'm not far behind him. Really -- and then they don't have extremely tough schedule on the way now. I mean they have that the giants. But the giants aren't in the Reno we don't really know what's -- I haven't been about exactly it in the last four weeks in Miami. Atlanta the 49ers at the jets or horrible team and finally -- even by the giants for -- to look at -- point last year finished to a and you never knowing anybody -- I don't care what anybody says. He's still not there yet as a quarterback he still makes -- stakes idol I've never been high on this guy and I'm not the -- clippers Bethany smirking now. She's Marc and I all that -- that you liked him. One what a particular about him -- he's. I think he's is critically that he -- week when you think that is that I I honestly I think that he tries too hard some of his brother his brother and I don't think he has his brother he's the quarterback losses but he's not even right he's closed his brother I think part of the problem. Is the perception that he is you know home -- junior. And it gets magnified because of -- that -- in New York that's worth of the biggest mistake. You know when he was -- by San Diego I'm thinking you know -- or at least they thought they -- contract and it was going to take him. Call with -- perspective he's like no no we're not going to San Diego what if you make mistake take. So I don't know what -- you in San Diego beautiful weather all the year round it would have been in the perfect spot in the media glare it would have been offered him and going to New York. Because deeper I guess that would be extra advertising dollars out there for him. I just couldn't -- worst spot for him to as you know is not a good spot for him at -- does it I don't -- big daddy -- really -- him -- what everybody expected him to be. Payton when he got there ever -- but. If you know anything about the NFL in an awful ball you knew he wasn't going to be if you -- He knew he wasn't going to be Payton. He was he's not he's good quarterback -- good quarterback he's not right now and that's that's I think the biggest thing he's got to overcome as the fact that you know he's a man so he's gotta be -- or at very low wore Lee going to be is dead. Who was a very good pro quarterback very -- New Orleans instincts and what do."
[49:12]" this isn't -- make to start your career chargers would have been a great fit. But you you gave them a little leeway in the first couple years said. Oh well that they threw him right in the right into the mix right away he's starting cornerback in his first year let's give him a little time to grow Elton. -- the fans gave them the benefit of the doubt I'm sure the New York media did is well now. And as he progressed -- and get -- through his career a little bit it seems like his improvement has kind of slowed down a diminished. And right now a few years and 34 years and then Matta -- career at the quarterback you need to be taking your team in the playoffs. If you're going to have any leg as he whatsoever we need to see improvement from him and we haven't seen that."
[49:53]" There was another reason why the move they made. It was completely wrong move is making it look like -- year. He he didn't he like I'm not I'm rookie -- He think he thought he was bigger than bigger than any team in the NFL he can choose where wanted to go I think that made him look like a jerk currently with the fans with the with other players. Especially with the chargers. I mean a lot of people had no respect form coming out of college because of the fact that you basically chose where he wanted to play turn and that was that was that's a big mistake and of itself. I think he ever reach free agency in the giants' side they don't we sign -- market -- in New York he's gonna have a tough time signs somewhere else. Because because what he did and is that it almost looks like it just figure basically."
[50:34]" At at at putting him right. What about some emails -- and a couple web radio ad patriots dot com is in Zealanders were really. Just kind of taken stock of things here after week non pitchers have the week off the return here to the stadium on Monday to begin preparations for the -- game would be at buffalo the following weekend you know if you have some question. For our esteemed panel here. I think it would be very properly test a little football knowledge of from alliance and Zach and -- today as well. On because as we mentioned the opening of the show they were all. -- would would you which -- of a diehard patriots fan. I guess jumps right in that one of I mean I realize -- is -- because he group on the west coast butchered art football north. Is football your favorite sport. Well I don't I want you played baseball excitement or understand now but I."
[51:25]" I love football Latin baseball is baseball as what I've. The reason I came Emerson threes I wanted to journals and I was but I wanted to. To be a baseball guy always -- to replace Peter gammons is that guy in baseball and I have realized that there's I've really got to -- football's law notes that football is definitely a close second but baseball takes bettman now you have to admit. Females in football league they go together a little in morsel in recent years vote what what major to others and you thought you'd like to throw."
[51:55]" I've always of the ball patriot I Indians and I competed at a Red Sox it is huge by it. I act around here that you know and like you you do see -- like eating more morphine now. -- in reporting on the I think more than anything out did you see yourself on a roll at that Sunday. Them by immigrants in -- 90 days ago absolutely we are already nice to them. Aaron listening anyway why not funny -- Diego she's been around it ruins at all I know now -- football first guy or what what's the what's the favorite sport they."
[52:33]" Allfirst -- my parent basically made at the vision for me go and a 30 plus giants games every summer and -- Orosco and only a couple niners games there during the regular season they'll. That the original name -- who want to get into broadcasting as well. I've got a lot of great broadcasters to look up to -- base ball Jon Miller of course there was this go it another great guys of course vin Scully Harry Kallis on nuclear. In in football. There are great broadcast that I love Dick and Bergen look at him tremendously by."
[53:03]" Worry nobody's -- in baseball berth via baseball first good idea one our listeners I want our our fan base here want them to test you. On your row on your overall knowledge of the payments you know so that's that's and the confidence of confidence in you that's -- you're in here today. Could you -- you can do the job so we're basically just taken start with the patriots are through nine weeks looking ahead a little bit not only to buffalo on -- potential pitfalls prep all and really. Where this team. Might be lacking and whether or not it's going to be enough of an Achilles heel to call them to keep them perhaps from 160 you know talk about the running game in particular -- bit about the linebackers and more than they might not be exactly what you look at foreign coverage in an option after brought that up a little bit earlier those a couple of things that's really what we have on the table here web radio patriots dot com Russell Baxter from ESPN will join us here about five -- ten minutes started off with Jeff and Bartlett says now that Chad Jackson has been activated and has been Randy moss is mentoring project. -- get a chance Steve they look at -- for receiver spot will be strictly fifth receiver. Washington plays enough on special teams that I don't expect him -- much as a receiver Kelly Washington but so far as I know Jackson was nothing wide. How's it -- to practice and limit looks had been able to get -- working with and I can't think that working so closely with Randy moss would do anything but help him. And I'm hoping he's able to make an impact in the second half I can tell you that from the limited number practice is that they allow -- even get NC that the receivers are altogether but there doesn't seem to be any real special attention. That Randy has paid to Chad I know that that -- because they asked to you know when you're in group. In other always talking always doing this and that but at the as you like pulled him out of a pile and showed -- how to do something. Not really and a lot of that is because I don't know that that's the role that Randy is really a equipped to fulfill them wanna number two I don't know how receptive gently competed. But though what are your thoughts on them on Chad Jackson and or whether or not he should you know may be be given that opportunity."
[55:11]" I don't know we'll get that chance this year but definitely down the road the patriots think very highly of them obviously they gave gave way to pick to move up and take Jack in the draft so. Obviously he's going to get a chance on -- on down the road but. This year the patriots have in that there wide receiving corps has been able to get the job done obviously the victory and Gaffney is the fourth -- out. I'll I'll I'll Milt Jackson's going to see time this year but there's no doubt the patriot loved this guy named he's going to do what they would have felt if they want to develop in the organization."
[55:42]" Right yeah he's got the skill set to be it to be very very good wide receiver I think he's he's quick guy is also big strong I I still thing I don't know really I don't know much about -- and we have him play a lot this year. But I think I think they want to try and get Chad in as much possible I would imagine -- in some reps this year even if he doesn't play a whole lot doesn't get a lot of catches this year they can maybe that often spend as much money -- it maybe it -- the cut slower next year and throw Jackson that role to on the look at another very money conscious surround yourself that might be some look at it it's a few bucks. Maybe cut lower throw Jackson in the next next year because he's got killed at the do it I --"
[56:19]" See him. Really becoming a factor this year I'm not this year not at all and you never now like with last year it is like I'd think of Abba. Last year Gaffney probably would've been different guys on that they -- and I think currently now and yet Gaffney actually may have been you know a savior of sorts laugh at that -- So good stuff all right next Alex this everybody start the latest on 16 now and then it's okay but why anybody thought about the colts in the last few seasons on 16 you know. I've never want them to -- the distance I'm just wondering. What are the 2000 probably could have -- the last few seasons didn't above average severity defects. And that's pretty much what that -- what comes out that the colts offense -- mr. 13 you know when they've had their very good seasons the last couple years. They haven't had the -- the overall. Good defense team defense like the -- of the last five years. And that's the big thing -- an offense that has been to get a lot better than this one that often this year but it comes out of the fence I would agree. On by the way he says personally I think we'll go 60 you know. But we need to fix some things in order to do that our defense has to get better at stopping the run our offense has to run the ball better Anibal we've talked about. August Alex from Munich Germany by the way he says -- shut up Don Shula. And I don't want to I'm glad he said that because honestly I want to report the story dimensional to the program I heard Don Shula Mike Mike morning -- the end if for those that may not have heard it. And they asked him point out what Gary Myers in in a new York daily news. As -- at which was that they should put an asterisk by the patriots have been you know. Well personable he was never quoted in that article and number one they asked him point blank do you think the page should have an asterisk. By their record if they go 60 you know in the regular season. And his answer was that's not for -- side. So attractive that right away basically well he -- at all he did retracted but he never release add it to begin with -- number one and number two I found it. His response of that's not for me to his side to be a little curious as well. If you really want it to you know get back on level square one he would've said no."
[58:37]" And -- that this is something we've been talking about all week and I haven't heard from new look for her for years in the public spotlight except those nutrition and commercial right right. It -- out of the woodwork at the right time except for when he pop bottle of champagne after the last Reich went undefeated team loses right exactly I just hope that was curious."
[58:55]" And then you know that they really they did the job present moment but the one thing that they did not do in this is where I don't think. Our Mike in my boys on the network level here did their did their homework you know Marmol was after you do your homework right that you're journalism -- they didn't do with us today. Nobody brought the -- in Jim licking I think -- brought the article with me it was an Associated Press article. Pardon me while I look at my stuff here is -- yeah added that the and they didn't have a drink and all right I want to read just a excerpt from Associated Press article is written by Jim lit -- covered the NFL. For several years now. And when I read it this morning -- I think it is the nail on the head is actually that we're going to give him full credit for the article here. Arm he says some name a coach and medical team caught cheating. And then forced to double first round pick only to gain a measure of revenge by roughing up in order to and route to a perfect season noble title. Obviously the patron of the -- right about -- was 72 -- that you saw that okay if hits I mean inhale -- hang up right. -- the parallels aren't eggs. As the dolphins team is already in the record book in the -- patriots were only halfway through but -- couldn't be bothered with distractions earlier this week when he suggested an Astros would be appropriate his quote of the -- daily news was the by -- has diminished what they've accomplished you would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. But they've got it. That was his quote which of course he backtracked on the morning he has -- and that's not for me to decide. But that was his answer which is still not an unequivocal no I don't think they should have after. He still leaving some wiggle room there if you read between the line with what to do and he's going to be right now even more okay in the gym with key points this out -- believes that you're really believes that maybe they should have disastrous. Then he ought to negotiate -- two over and pace the other masters -- who has only undefeated team. He was still the coach of the Baltimore colts at the end of the 1969 season. When then Miami owner Joe Robbie approached him in sign Shula to a contract. The NFL charged the dolphins with tampering and awarded their first round pick to the colts. The note did you undaunted Miami reach the Super Bowl in 1971. Rebounding from loss to the Dallas Cowboys by winning the next two including the perfect seventh you know. So it's not exactly parallel but there -- a lot of similarities between what the patriots are going to this year in which who was dolphins went through at that time."
[1:01:28]" Aimed at that exactly that that proves that the -- Will not go down in the history books because nobody remembered that he can compared. The patriots this year of Barry Bonds which I took very pro league and among bonds spent about not the point. I know we had left. Not on this Kosovo just get used to. But but with bond there may be an after obviously -- in in hard copy or in the Hall of Fame on base ball. But that's only because -- on a hard record. That the by gate thing the running up the court is not a record that they did not nothing that's going to go down in the record books when you look back in the -- and -- site. You're gonna say the patriots won that you know data out in the team and nobody is going to mention any of these controversy."
[1:02:15]" All I disagree I think I think when you look back. At the to -- 2007 patriots in the 2002 were both champions with the Fort Worth -- I say absolutely. -- you look back and you think about the controversy that they went through because and I know it's not. I don't think it's a big deal I don't think it helped them win two grumbles when -- I think they -- 12 bulls one games without this. But I think why would they do it if it didn't help at all so you have to at least they that he has. Yeah at least think about it and mention it when you mention this year's team and even on the B team some are saying that it it defines the teams because it doesn't. But you have to at least. Becomes up somewhere in the conversation not answer at the beginning maybe toward the tail and you have to talk about it. When -- not -- in the fact that you know the about the dolphins that he knows the formula that's -- I don't think but I think that's a little bit different in the sense that. Nothing that nothing that they did actually help them on the field. Was sure didn't do anything that actually help them anfield this is something that. Handedly helped them win ball games and I don't know if it was that big a big help. But it it helped them some -- nothing that the dolphins did or Shula did actually. Helped the dolphins."
[1:03:27]" When but I think it's day to day with a without any camera and that and the patriot bill would be where they -- or where they're at this point this season. That there margin of victory has been so great that I don't think it has had any sort of monumental impact whatsoever."
[1:03:42]" Actually I'd I I said that before I don't I don't think that I think they would of won I don't think any of the -- changed. I think they would want the superbowl I think they would want all the games it's it's as simple matter of why would they do if it to help out at home to some degree in my saying it was the make or break thing that helped them win Super Bowls and win ball games but. Why do if it doesn't help you at all that that's -- a dusty bat. About this season or at their past three noble went as well because currently in the beginning of the -- I mean I think it'll it'll come up. Definitely for the season because that happens season but you have to Italy's. It can't be it can they can't have just started this in week one of the 2007 season -- have been going on. For at least a year so -- You have to bring it up definitely -- conversation and maybe because if you talk about this year if if they ones -- this year if the 2007 patriots come up. The 2001 through 2007 patriots come because it's pretty much wanted to -- because the when you talk about this team you talk copilot seat and -- talk about. That -- that scandal if you want to call that as one I do think he comes up because it's one of the bigger things that has come up in football in recent in recent history."
[1:04:49]" I just don't think 40 years from now this is something. You're going to remember you look at the dolphin team I think -- Chela the coming from -- I don't disagree that that if you look at the -- two dolphins Bob three he went down in the fifth week of the east and they basically. Went undefeated with a backup quarterback can rely strictly on the running game a very different type of team than what the patriots have. Right now in their margin of victory in their games in 1972. With not to close to what the patriots of the on this here a lot of very close games or even even though and they went wire to wire. And won the Super Bowl. That's a very thin argument it clear to me that the patriots are are much better team this year."
[1:05:31]" I was just disappointed overall gimmick in the original premise here I was this one overall that. That part of the conversation wasn't brought up in the discussion this morning because I would like to eventual put on the spot about you know what what happened with you back in 69. And when you went from Baltimore to Miami I would elective. Heard that squirm because I think that would have been made an audible squirm on the radio. I was the only thing that I had thought that would have been appropriate. -- it is -- thank you very much Lopez 3 PM eastern time on Thursday which means. Russell Baxter going to fill research coordinator for Rome ESP enjoyed is on the program. Inside -- put -- Russell I want you to say hello to lions to act and to Bethany were three in my star student. In my sport radio class at Emerson College."
[1:06:18]" Which American Indian Greg weren't. -- it was pretty good like that a lot of Dario. Excellent everyone you know what they -- the class individual you're dealing with mr. route to go -- and it was all there on the on court I didn't say what class."
[1:06:36]" Exactly answer it I know here we go well I'll take every want to get the Brooklyn next time. So you know we we can't read a little bit of the ball is going on around here even though we know that it has the bye week barraged with nevertheless did a Super -- 41 and I have would appear grant's village."
[1:06:56]" I think it definitely did I mean it certainly -- enjoyed by -- most of the country it's seems like and it did because it was. It was chess match I thought it would days. And it was interesting -- that the colts were there a lot of different ways to look at the colts were down a few rooks and pawns and did what they could but the patriots made the plays when they had to the colts didn't make the plays when they should have this opportunity again. I think there's nothing better to beat -- a flawed football game. I've won a -- turnovers okay. Execution where it allows the team you lets you -- Russell. If you think it loses that you're rooting for absolutely but I mean to -- that the best part about football committee. I've said this to undercut the ball. -- do funny things that that the that is the most intriguing thing about the game and you know where we were sitting there watching the game Sunday. The first half Joseph Addai -- short Paris. I hear at least one person in the room scream out of town well he doesn't. -- Joseph Addai has have to remember being the patriots. By himself in the first half and yet the colts never really capitalize on the opportunities to property Wayne -- And then they'd let robbery do what he does that cool. Precise accurate it's it's would -- work. His entire career it's really what -- market and in the fourth quarter make the big place -- active and just giving contributions from everybody made it look like reading was not having read today we caught. -- of the fourth quarter but any big big 50 plus yard reception Wes Welker our thought was the real key to what he did because it wasn't just. As a receiver. It was also has a return -- senators won eagle flawed that the colts reading. Is that they're kick coverage is not that great -- it was the opening kick off the -- one Super -- would you like to return of the opening difficult which it ever happened before. It will be interesting to see if these teams -- play again if it when they play again what round it would be. And unlike unlike other years if the game well you know if gained in Foxborough it I don't like to project because we got a long long way to go out things happen. But I think I think I like the most is these teams. It's not a meeting where it's it's outdoors. The colts are going to be traveling up and these team they can deal with with the weather. They were different style of football team and they were a couple years ago I opposite of this program the teams have switched identity right. I think I think it was a beauty put New England did Sunday is. Eight from for the most part this year in the 2004 holds into the most article in the 2004 patriots where they needed it most. Last Sunday. The patriots -- the 2004 patriots again."
[1:10:07]" Very -- The good analogy -- I think it's appropriate in this regard. We've also spent a lot of time over the last couple days anyway just trying to figure out now if there is going to be a stumbling block. Where might calm and what aspect of this football team might be potentially an Achilles heel. You have any -- thoughts on on that in light of vote what you saw last a Sunday against the colts."
[1:10:29]" Well I think I think why the question marks to me rule will depend on how the decent holds you know others. There's no mistaking affected that the patriots need to do they have steady veteran players it's a long season and people are not playing. The same way in September and they aren't necessarily in November December now the beauty the patriots are also very deep football team so they don't necessarily need their frontline guy to -- continuously. On the field it's not the way they play anyway they do such a good job of mixing things up and so want I believe they've played. Of that maturity of this community in the fortune five alignment that it. Which is it's something different with that they are the Brazilian numbers and it and of the NFL but I mean that in a positive way. So you never know what it would tipper predict from them. And I think that's why they have been the most intelligent football team in the league the last few years what they've had to run that they but it is now we are now eager to -- and our favorite this week patriots are off the like instruments and -- I like. When that scheduled first came out and I can be. There's nothing I -- more talking. In the conflict of like college football because saint -- is our lady of perpetual motion. And Gardner-Webb beat Kentucky I know aren't on your schedule okay but I have been on the map on the yet but. I would pose this question to build -- Okay and I noticed this in -- we get our to our schedule moved. Take a look at patriots -- that buffalo. -- so it. At Baltimore three straight home games Pittsburgh pitcher to Miami. And then at the giants now will the patriots fly to -- schemes or simply tried to individual cars. To go to seven games which struck me back in April at their last seven games are they pretty much. All within miles of each other and the fact that they played -- three -- games at the meadowlands. At Baltimore an awful lot of travel involved there. So at all like to be taking any west coast trips or anything and that will. Certainly I'm sure helped their cause what I think it'll be really interesting about the patriots is knowing when they're going to play. The residencies and because they will be a flex schedule darling break I think already or with the buffalo game. And the audio -- already been moved to -- And you know. Who knows that the collective this season big league adjustment that -- Wednesday. So everybody could see us go out it'll be a little network build anything on network rights and -- of the NFL network I'm I'm open they don't get the -- to let that that you know killing. But it it'll be really really interesting to see how this run goes and so on and you know -- For people who loved history like I do execute to see history. Town WS -- deceit they can pull it off and if there's one team. It's you know it's wanting to talk about schedule it's one of the project how bad team in. How they're going to play it was a good -- conflict here as we can tape with one unequivocal fact. No team -- medical history to the patriots had ever won 19 games. They've won 21 that wants one literally -- legal director would be easy to -- and protect the coaching NFL history has ever won. At least 19 consecutive game to beat over the course of two seasons -- not then been to England patriots. So typical 19 you know. I say yes because they've done it before he wanted and that's be -- recently Dmitri now because they have done it before they can do it again. R I will they I don't know you know but they approve but at least they can do it and -- something no one else can even point."
[1:14:41]" This is true we all know though that the patriots could end up being their own worst enemy in some of these -- games -- that will be topic of conversation as the games you know crumpled on the schedule in the meantime though there is slate full of games for week ten even the patriots are on the sidelines enjoying -- perhaps watching at home."
[1:14:59]" And the -- actually favorite enforce those games as well as a matter fact."
[1:15:02]" That wouldn't surprise because the very least I'll buffalo the following week's opponent playing at Miami this week an individual game of the bills -- certainly turn it up a bit over the last couple weeks they've won three in a row. That actually got 1 win on the road as well. And I'd have to say that I'm somewhat surprised that the bills have been able to put it together the way they have special with a back and forth nature of the quarterbacks spotted it would here. The J. P. Losman has the job back again."
[1:15:30]" Not surprised by the heart. But I'm surprised by the results. Because one thing we've seen at a bills this year is they've played an awful lot of heart and they get a unit heads of games slip through their fingers also beginning of the year their defense really you know they they went into this decent job as you know. Without London Fletcher without beat Clement to let the free agency they lost third you know what -- look like a pretty good rookie linebacker Paul -- let me early in the season they've they've had their share -- injuries on decent that yet. After being you know -- three they've won four of the last five games and get contributions from their younger players Marshawn Lynch only evidence is -- the last couple weeks start to put some points on the board they played an awful lot of heart they have a lot of -- but this is David have to be wary of because now we -- into -- agencies that. Will we start talk about the Miami Dolphins and we start talking about the saint Louis transposed over coordinate where it's teams have to be wary of not the fact. Of losing to them but being afraid to lose that today. And that is that most teams go further and who knows maybe both the rams -- the in the -- when this week but duke and I've seen that's why it's. I I don't we said it is harder ago when -- that is undefeated. Because in this league a parody a -- he can literally can't -- game. With a couple of bad place literally can't do again that's what the Buffalo Bills have to we we area of not getting into game. And saying hey wait and buy -- 67 were trailing. And get -- their game plan because tickets noble pretty quickly so very into very intriguing tilt my game because a couple of weeks to recover from London but they've also had a couple weeks to recover from were stored history their franchise they do put points on the board rebels say that but their defense I -- would say to show of its former self it's it's like an embryo which -- But -- yourself."
[1:17:27]" Russell me ask you this I mean again I think will realize that it's likely the patriots could certainly go 60 you know. What are the odds of not -- 16 nobody having either Miami or saint Louis bill -- 16 in the same year."
[1:17:39]" I think the odds are better -- the -- defeated of those two teams to win but if I had typical witness statement to I think I would pick the rams president -- the -- that at times have proved they can score points the rams. To meet their offense which -- to do all -- lines every week. And it's not just Orlando pace that they -- sleepless a lot of guys Stephen Jackson hurt most of the year Mark -- plate were broken -- that time and defensively they. Just aren't up to snuff they were bad -- that pleasure they haven't improved that much. Well they get behind to get behind quickly. They get probable because they have to rather than wanting to and it turns out to be a disaster so I still think the patriots have a better -- do what they're doing that the other two teams but I had to pick one particular -- more like. -- I would be surprised to Miami won this week real good -- well because Buffalo's offense is not prolific."
[1:18:35]" Well if that does happen by the way if Miami wins and the patriots beat -- with the patriots clinched the -- Has as I don't know that you would know the answer this being the number guy has any team ever clinch the division title in week 11."
[1:18:53]" You know -- the 85 bears I have to double check -- strangest decision on the 1997. 49ers I have to check -- and I say that because they had the advantage and sometimes it's -- the advantage of playing -- streak divisional games. After their first game deceit and it was you remember -- game -- was ten years ago that would -- opening watched Jerry -- of the year pretty -- you know sure that the young got hurt you did that night here's what it would still be -- at a Key West would fight scenes in it plates seven consecutive game versus divisional -- And one -- seven -- eliminate a lot of tiebreaker got a lot this week. Get there -- just -- schedule setup. They were early clincher I believe also the 1991 Redskins now might be off twice a week but those teams that you have to consider. In terms of clinching their division early so. I have a bye week the patriots could have a bye week buffalo cooperates or doesn't cooperate."
[1:19:53]" Russell after the patriots' got got by Indy everybody in New England has has looked at the week 14 the Pittsburgh Steelers. And their defense right now really the post of the NFL as far as yards per game in points per game allowed -- at the -- in the NFL. Maybe that stand up a little bit by a week's schedule thus far this season but. He -- the Steelers defense. Slow down the patriots that'll there's there's one defensive NFL back and maybe slow this often that a little bit how do Steelers."
[1:20:24]" Well yeah and you know Argo are up to jump back and you -- I'm not one much for that the weakest schedules they gotta be honest with because of we're going to start pointing out things. The patriots do that the quantity and nobody dolphins jets is among -- victims this year. So I think you look it's -- now what they've been one thing I've noticed with Pittsburgh this year is they're much more aggressive defensively. They were maybe in a year or -- they certainly were lectured to clash. Last year they kind of lead back. The one thing about people vote the -- it is an attack decent but you have to be intelligent to read it's not a power decent. Okay we have -- tendency just like we spent 20 years talking about counter Trey everytime someone ran left and and it really wasn't the case the call every blitzes zone blitz. In this don't blitz scheme it's not. Design on anything but confusion that's why you see defensive linemen drop practicing like Beckett they think about this don't put -- you never know who's comic. And when they're coming and where they're coming from okay now who reads these kids is better than Tom Brady. Okay so I don't think you'd be case where he'd be necessarily fooled. By all those things the way there's one way to stop -- patriots offense and that's to keep it off the field -- could the Pittsburgh Steelers Dudek. It depends on that if they also shift there emphasis of how they play -- of football. And you saw the little Monday night that's what I will say I would say the first seven games of the year the Pittsburgh viewers were really setting up. The run of the of the past. Now lacked the funny thing like a Monday night they only ramp from 90 yards on 39 carries but -- watching the first day out running a second down play action. Okay and they thought it made a lot of big past place. That's the those -- that kind of attempts to carry it keep another decent. Off the field. That's the kind of football that you would have to play against do we compatriots to keep Tom Brady Randy moss west well where on the sidelines sort of hope it's definitely a matchup dusty was speed sent idiot matchup Pittsburgh's offense can keep new England's offense. Off the field."
[1:22:31]" I right now Russell knows a little early but we figured -- talk about the patriots look like they're going to get top ten pick. From the San Francisco 49ers right now what do you think. What do you think -- holes that need to fill through the draft. I know we talked earlier about how. I'm not very keen on Laurence Maroney and I think the issue in the direction of Darren McFadden below what he thinks that there are some holes need to fill and they might though that's often it."
[1:22:56]" Another I think I guess in the envelope here and I think it quarterback. -- the offseason the -- on Thomas and be crunch I'm a bit tired in the regulars and now."
[1:23:11]" You know it's so hard to tell that you it that it probably run and to make -- a question. That's the question so early if you don't know also what's going to be available and you also don't know -- New England Patriots and it -- certainly going to keep it. Okay it might be something where Bill Belichick might want to take that and move out into the first round pick a topic that that's an extra number two that's the beauty of what they've dealt with the draft -- they just keep on picking up extra picks in extra picks which is why they're in the position they are that position they -- now. So they had a picture number one because -- that we are dealing with San Francisco last year. Listen if they don't swing and -- the first round they've done an excellent job by way to first round getting good solid defensive linemen you know Taiwan Vince Wilfork Richard Seymour all first round picks. If you had to pin me down. Common sense would probably dictate a linebacker because they don't just don't seem to be getting any younger in that regard. But who noted that might not be a good enough linebacker coming added there."
[1:24:12]" Cross talk across we'll talk to type -- who was sick is the guy with a -- yeah. That's Jimmy Johnson's here are people okay -- fact -- people realizing he received Jimmy Johnson air for first round draft."
[1:24:29]" Like it like it beautiful bomb there actually are some other intriguing games -- on the league this week in all honesty I I have to admit that. Some them look good to be very well well worth watching in the I'd say this probably should go but. Cleveland -- at Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon to me -- playoffs if not divisional implications in it."
[1:24:48]" No doubt you know an -- a funny thing cannot last week was the game of the century. Right this week is probably the most important we -- in the year terms positioning -- only 14 gains were direct -- divisional games this week -- eaten three matches. Including you know you hate to have instances where you have like the whole division the AFC north is playing each other this week and you know put those teams play each in both those games -- one games and help things could change for both of those losers in those in those games are should take away one winner one looser the Cleveland Browns. Are really get it done especially offensively -- almost scored they scored. 11 fewer points in eight games they get all last year while. And -- Derek Anderson just turned 17 touchdown -- this year -- eight interceptions. Given Charlie Frye complied flashed her and 15 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions Braylon Edwards could be headed to the pro bowl tell Winslow might not be far behind. They've done a great job. Great job protecting the quarterback we won against Pittsburgh figure of six sacks last seven games they've given up seven sacks. So they are really get -- done that would probably be amazed they don't have much of a deep and they don't generates cash Rusch. They had seven sacks as a decent at eight gates. So this could really be Eddie. A free for all in terms of the passing game -- Roethlisberger is coming off five touchdown passes Monday night -- 20 already -- a career high for him what a turnaround for Big -- And it's a point I've made before. What did you change would. Ben Roethlisberger last year in his regain his six capability he saw the other make the -- approach trickle over we got away from a to a touchdown pass that the heat know I think the browns have a lot of momentum and Pittsburgh coming up short week I like Cleveland who rarely wins in Pittsburgh you're going to win this game."
[1:26:45]" While -- not absolutely. Jacksonville also playing at Tennessee this weekend. You know I guess we get a little bit clearer picture on on Tennessee's capability because they can be somewhat inconsistent offense but -- little surprised Jackson is taking it on the chin a couple of times."
[1:27:00]" Well my pal Chris Berman has done to Jacksonville Jaguars figured have a good media but. -- because every time we think there are about to take a step the about. Yeah about it and think about what there I had this discussion with a couple people before -- it was one of why. Training camp points at the beginning of the season. Will the Jacksonville decent -- emergency consisting -- well in a weak one they gave up 282 yards rushing. To Tennessee Titans -- three weeks later he gave up ten yards rushing to Kansas City Chiefs that would prove to be a little erratic. Last week from priest brought -- 445 yards. They are the epitome of the week. Erratic nature of the league and they've gotten pretty decent. Quarterback plate and -- quick great back up. Output point four points on the board and other defensive touchdown that merited special teams such depth but they it's -- have to move the ball. But defensively he can you just can't tell them they're now going to be without orchestra out of four games -- bad news because to Tennessee renegade. I think it's -- numbers you tell because this is John and you urged students can. Pro did well all right -- 5272531. That's not any your locker combos but don't worry"
[1:28:24]" 25 point 72531 what those numbers then I've known -- in regards to Jacksonville or Tennessee that would be regretted it."
[1:28:40]" Well."
[1:28:42]" Anybody want to venture -- guess."
[1:28:45]" I think you've stumped them well I think -- according to carries for one mr. Lendale white. The last four games no -- to really beat -- not how accurate are rookies I was about the sad that this stuff I don't think I'd ever seen them before but now that you mention -- that that's than usual you know."
[1:29:00]" Right underneath carries the last word games at least 25 in each of those four games at least a hundred yards -- each of the last three games. -- for 212 yards total on 62 carried the first four weeks of the season. So they have really change -- emphasis they're decent has been out coming Albert Haynesworth who for about four years look like a major disappointment in this league. Has or actually even longer than that major disappointment this week has really come to play this year some people. You know. Pure rights -- decrease in the contract year right seven Nike -- player. Of the year -- a year. He can't run on Tennessee. He physically beat you up while many people are going into Tennessee winning speculated on in the Tennessee this year to win. Already Indianapolis Colts keep it away -- weak to move. And -- Jacksonville to those some consistency. They got a lot of good players but they always seemed to struggle gets to Tennessee Titans and only struggled -- division period and I think Tennessee gets as one again."
[1:30:03]" I had three of the games ordered such general quickly before we let you go number one Dallas playing at New York great NFC east traditional rival match up. And the giants' six into the cowboys at 71 arguably to a better the teams in the NFC right now on without the giants have a chance of catching Dallas in the division. Probably hinges on them winning at home. Indianapolis San Diego for obvious reasons deciding game and then your game the Monday night game Sampras sisco playing at Seattle -- start the cowboys and the giants."
[1:30:31]" Well dallas' did it -- these guys play an opening day was 4535 -- he did say they remember that the New York Giants gave up ED point to their first game is this growth right they give it up 79 the last six. -- won all six of -- predicated by a -- fresh 30 saxony games Italy at 32 wolves last year it helps out with some being revamped secondary they dedicated some heat on Tony Romo I think the speed of new -- pass -- it -- big very big gala slide I think if we put some points again. The giants everybody's -- part the second half the year with good reason the last four years the last eight games they're combined -- 24. They always sort out about 62 and they always wind up struggling to get in the playoffs or not make it at all but I think momentum is on their side this week and I like --"
[1:31:22]" And really no kidding. The chargers at home against the colts the charges still trying to hang on some around stay close in the west with both Kansas City and certainly August ever behind them but Kansas City technically a little bit above them right now on in the colts trying to rebound though over the loss to the go to the patriots."
[1:31:40]" That gush of wind you hear is Adrian Peterson running by all the chargers defenders he had no kidding. He went up I think consistency four wins this year the church is given up 30 points for losses this year they've given up 134 points this is the best of fine football team. Got a very tough schedule on the road whether they've got a lot of work ahead of them and they are you know they dug themselves that this is one of the game he'll think about now to think about it later. Losing at home. To Kansas City Chiefs and 9 they're tied for first that home loss to the chiefs might -- on the comes back and bites them you you're nowhere -- sure how healthy the cold sore you know they still at the bank of -- with Steve Martin Harrison plays a couple of linebackers and so on I expect him to two recounts idiot delicious it's simply too erratic for each -- do. Did to take seriously right now. A guy that they thought they were on their way to their three game winning streak. And that they went in Minnesota in there and frankly their offense scored one touchdown against the vikings -- the got them the ball Antonio cry more people right now."
[1:32:45]" Right and then your game on Monday night I'm bringing -- hole because it obviously it's your game -- want to because number two Seattle's going to try to stay afloat as well. With all respect to alliances you know San Francisco 49ers are playing that night. Seattle got to keep the job going into going to want to home."
[1:33:01]" You're quite the company man. And not exactly it was attractive matchup hold odds are going to go to elite -- and and it is important game notes Gary beat them once. -- Francisco's really been the disappointment of interest or frank or interest -- Smith but also or turner -- Worked Nader not necessarily to head coach defensively they can't hold up anymore -- held -- as long as -- but it's really -- struggle -- can't. Nobody knows Seattle is a little mystified at times is well last week they're decent could hold on to two lead in Cleveland. Shaun Alexander has -- a complete. Disappearing act you know he's not necessarily help you well we shall see I gotta I gotta like Seattle Sampras is the simply can't put any points on the --"
[1:33:48]" it can't. Russell as always great to visit with -- thank you for taking the time in this weekend I guess we'll check in with you oh little bit different time next week it did Garrity talked about that."
[1:33:58]" Yes yes he did and two you're teaching your it's fair students. Congratulations on your -- are all journalism majors all of them -- all communications major."
[1:34:09]" Will all of them are. All of our want to be sport you don't radio personnel work or sports you know broadcasters of some sort."
[1:34:17]" Televise -- listen to people they're not allowed to copy the -- One of them being -- that part of the way to an up close and then just tell my bread butter and a might want that the -- and a -- at -- and that that certainly congratulations Alden and have a great week."
[1:34:33]" Thanks -- talked isn't idiotic that's Russell -- NFL research coordinator for years in all of this stuff that they do whether it's dot com. Radio television. This is the guy that talking and providing the -- talking in the years of permanent TJ when on the set no possible to have that many numbers that your dad he's he's amazing indigo forever yeah he's amazing. He has the he has a plethora of information walking football likely that he is the one man. In Bristol, Connecticut whose job is the NFL for 365 days. Pretty prepared -- aggregate. It's a great -- he think in football when we got pennant races that you football in the NBA championship he's going to -- ball in the final -- going. He's the one the one guy there that has to keep his polls on the unit fell three and 65 days a year. The job. Legal that Venus I'm glad let's be back. For a day like. Vegas of the things that he does probably you know he's been in the people get to talk to and visit with -- all quit than all the contacts the guys made. Talk about contacts that the -- probably that we want to stay in touch with the years. All right again we've got realize spellbound aqua intro Bethany -- from -- Emerson with -- here today is that we. Kind of woke me get through -- for Thursday alot more emails that it is -- is rated tackle some of these aren't we left golf with the -- Who the here oh gosh you rotors and a novel can from ten would try to get through this in the in on what short order but he says. Since the Don Shula and refuses to go away even when he is backing off his original -- he still manages to throw doubt on the past accomplishments of this year. Here's a rant like copied from pat stand dot com. A man in the past bands -- as the Ryder did a great job but it's worth reading your audience who enjoyed especially -- will try to paraphrase will be. He says let's not forget. That -- I was basically forced into resigning so winners and he could hired Jimmy Johnson. Everyone understood -- the ole ball coach over the game it passed him by long ago. What makes anyone think that now some 12 years after his de facto firing he understands the game any better than he did when Weinke and his you know what. Yes -- 1328 games but he also coached for 32 seasons. That's an average of ten and a quarter wins per season however. It was basically a 500 coach when it counted most who's 1917 in the playoffs he won two Super Bowl in 1972 in victory. He has exhibited during that was president 1973 scarface was still seven years -- out the output -- still -- Dog Day Afternoon was his best work. -- was under 50 cents a gallon and the idea of bottling tap water and selling it for a -- 16 ounce bottle what got you into the funny farm. So basically Shuler went 22 years without winning anything I became an icon in south Florida goes to show it Cuba and -- about football. -- to keep his job for 22 years without winning anything. All fans are delusional and their owners pandered to them to their own detriment that now. Belichick is that you're going to win the 84 win. If you coach is 32 years like -- he would shatter shoeless all time coaching record for wins in the playoffs what accounts. Belgium actually looked like an embattled high school coach going 13 and three in the post season winning three syllables the last which was as recently as 2004. Social wants to -- let him -- of course he's worried. Belichick and the Mets are set to take away the only thing done ever did well in his life which was go 17 -- way back in 19. It says --"
[1:38:14]" Not like Don -- That's not bright tennis is an email is such as dolphins I know. Actually I thought that the again that was a post on pats and a common actually thought that the the writer was pretty accurate whatever -- that he said it there's nothing yet on factual or non factual about what he had only gripe I have with that. Is with the fact that nobody taking anything away from the 70s dolphins now. Even -- the patriots go undefeated. They're just trying to discredit shall claim that he was kind of you know home washed up well before his time but that is perhaps that a good thing for the 72 dolphins that brought them back into the spotlight a little -- I generally when when the team makes a run at a record the record holder. Get a little bit of the public attention as well and here's the other thing which after realizes Jim and choose long been dolphins homer was player in the avenue to team. And he does the radio color on the broadcast. And he was asked about this whole Astros thing a couple of days ago. He gave the right and he said basically we you know know that they're comfortable on the field beat themselves and we would welcome the patriots to the unbeaten club. That's the way to handle. And you're idolize the thing is is that all of this is going to do is make they're accomplishing back instantly to stand out more. Because you can never -- accomplishment. What why would you want to paint that appears to us. If your shoe lover what why why do you come with the public -- right at this point. When your team is going to get a very positive and positive view from the public at absolutely but he has to realize you know that he is -- of restaurants -- the country one of them have to be in Providence. So you know he wants to keep people coming -- restaurant probably these two -- bad for business a couple of bad bad for business that's right Christian since this email from Boston and he says that the list below for the past remaining -- point. Even the -- will be favored over or under the spreads listed below. Much when he gets an advance homework done better but he's his bills plus 14 moon. What do you think. I think it's going to be over. Over that definitely over that that the the patriots have been if they lose this weekend at the bills actually lose to Miami it will be over definitely. But if they win I think 14 about right. Yeah I'd say Sonya I I think that patriots would cover that course you consider they've won 38 to seven here but I think the threat with 14 against the Redskins a couple weeks ago. And look at -- that the -- greater against the bills eagles plus."
[1:40:49]" I I personal things while I don't have. I like the eagles a little bit I just think I don't think they're good enough to beat patriots by -- imagination but I don't think there's 17 point four's I think -- better than the Redskins. I don't 17 a bit much I would say maybe. 11 12 they -- offense they have that in the eagles then I'd probably I would tend to day I think and that 14 range with the bills ravens plus ten. I mean I regret I wrote that's on the road and I read and evidently from Abbott that he can't get their fat that without comment made about like -- as Tom I think that that African. You need to be favored than by more than ten on the road at Baltimore at least have a ten. Okay Steelers plus 13 well really. Plus 13 says -- that -- against I guess because -- geared to -- but even though. 13 against that defense and that that and the Pitts Pittsburgh has the tools to stop patriots have anybody else does I don't know -- chocolate but let's get into the ground. They have the running game with that one weakness on -- the fence and they have they have the physical physical defense that can stop. The patriots -- early slow down a bit of that that the Pittsburgh offense can score points to would you tend to say under I would output of around six or seven who."
[1:42:09]" I agree with that don't forget that the Steelers offense -- very good defense on Monday in the ravens that they can put up points against the good -- as well. Jets plus 24 that's been much I've seen it. I like that balance that if there's if there was ever -- game that I am going to hang Eddie on somebody that's that one that. It's gonna want to run -- an absolutely I completely flat under I think that. Well in game I actually I actually think that about 38 would be about like -- again I'm Bill Belichick and I'm not Bill Parcells. But no you're not. Apparently not smart and it's really really smart. Dolphins plus 25 I would put out put an above the output of below the the jets. Spread it to the they have their defense and they'll be good if they want if they at some point they're very. Very often in -- in the defense they just they'd they'd just beat them what was it 4849 to 20 whatever was in Miami and Miami. Play -- never played well. You're gonna get the Miami Dolphins appear in the cold may be still winless. I think that the brutal and and they they're missing running around you know hear about them on the brutal beating David I think I think that -- could be right after -- 30 35 range yeah it could be ugly but betting people say that if if there's the spread of 70 or more that underdog. Generally speaking if you do let you win more than you lose a little -- teams like the -- patriot offense through too often now. And in the final game is giants plus in. -- willing. Come back on that one of any all the all the go over on every one of those game really exceptional last week I would I would enter your view on the on the giants and just because of the pass -- all four. All 40 for the lamenting. Could get the treaty. They're all very good and what's out of the giants could have played for that last game in the patriot actually after the first at the first two games we didn't think that we have which is. Booed them off as another one of those right teams -- the patriots on the way -- season but now that the giants have on the play for that epic all depends on where the patriots are out at that point will -- to pull out all the ops. Or there -- the -- players on a couple of depends -- you know they've done both they will have hopefully a bye week to rest and so -- open I think most -- hope that they will -- pedal -- especially if -- if you have a chance to make history -- this is why the NFL -- like the patriots schedule to the prime prime -- games because I think the patriots and Dick -- from NBC -- that is much when they moved the buffalo game to -- to the -- and a -- game a couple of days ago. He hit the patriots -- history in the making. And with the love them or you hate him you're gonna want to watch him because you don't know when you're going to see this against the whole Barry Bonds home run watch and hank Aaron hit a big. Break babe Ruth's record you want to watch. Because you don't know if history is going to be made what do you think -- on love me hate me go to dormant -- the right very good and and that -- lives like I think that -- actually somebody was listening to pencil in the in our he's probably got a name anyway I'll Alex in Lexington as all right -- I'm very happy of us being 9 you know. I am not whining. I am just not real way her office had done against the colts we give credit to the colts or old ones talked on the run and I don't understand why our guys are big in the cold Beilein. Why couldn't we lean harder on my notes and only. But I read this analogy of an appeal by commonly talked about Dallas is -- leaning on our guys in May ask who cares about the running game welcome January. With a 50 yard bombs and making one and he catches will be tougher so running -- passion to be a difference maker how can we improve the run game. -- I think a lot of."
[1:45:57]" What the patriots do now is what they did earlier a few years ago. They they don't necessarily have a running game versus -- they use the short passing like the running game so I would say. Especially in weather like we get here in New England in January. You and your more apt to see them throw the dink and dunk. And and dink and dunk the colts in any other team the last -- more -- he -- stop the -- conduct then you can go over the exactly and you see that more than you're going to the there's a better chance even thinking and Duncan and you have a chance of seeing maroni have 35 gears."
[1:46:29]" Get healthy what month the patriots backfield if healthy well we know certain Morse is going to be around -- and I are he's done. So they go to Ricky Williams. In the in in the mountains in California not knowing you're gonna stop he lives in Boston now. Yeah absolutely right here done that on smoke and at he says he's not doing that stuff anymore okay RJ says did you guys notice the white dot on the into the football last Sunday. -- I don't -- he's played -- I'm not here Thomas not the place I -- on the replay last night and I'm assuming that's for moss to he gets the bright lights. Never seen that done before also Toms commentary about old -- earlier we have W. His commentary about Mulroney got me thinking in the beginning of his career last year Tom is Sally was saying that -- runs mean like he's pissed off. But it -- this year than he's running scared in a way. He is pretty good production -- so far but it seems like he's missing something some of that explosion I hope we find it because it was my favorite addition to the team much you know police for him. To break out just a thought to. When he thank model I I'm I'm not sure that I saw that the white dot on the into the football and I didn't and I know I'm I'm definitely a look I don't know they'll that a minute you'll have before we talk to a adamant Russell -- seen any thoughts on Maroney again I mean we've -- covered a little bit but in all honesty he's not running mean I think he's running tentatively. And I don't know that stemming from you know -- shoulder injury that he had in the off season he had the -- the -- they treated him very gingerly to start the year -- wore the red Jersey all through you know training camp and -- course that he missed a couple of weeks there three recently was with a hamstring it like it was one thing after another he just doesn't seem like we've got. -- explosion behind and -- maybe a little bit."
[1:48:17]" Concerted with regards the role he played in the patriots offense this year. Last year when when Tom Brady didn't have. All the offensive weapons at the wide receiver position there is obviously a much bigger burden on morality this your coming and he knew. That he was not going to get nearly as many carries as he did in his rookie season so they ago."
[1:48:37]" Right okay Andean Vermont says just want to say great job bringing in your students in allowing them some hands on. Or in this case voice -- nice to random -- dressing him all the time an NFL network. Jerry rice was a workaholic who perfected running his routes it was probably the most fit athlete to play wide receiver with great hands. Randy moss is just bigger stronger in his athleticism more natural. He has not had to work as hard as -- bouncing ideas and work hard. Too bad there is no game this week for you'd ask how. And such as team possibly inexplicably beat the patriots as well -- he says he of the -- a big welcome to your student's league now they. Shots at the -- guys. And we did bring up -- conversation about trying to compare Ross mean Randy moss was some of the great receivers in the NFL's certainly Jerry rice's name came up and the fact is is that. Physically he may be. The most talented receiver to have ever played the game I would go that far -- anymore."
[1:49:37]" I would say that as well but. That as the email alluded to Jerry -- that the work extremely hard I'm Sherri could come out to catch pat is right now you're going to be they'll run hills in the morning we know we can -- you can dance a little bit. Unlike Mark Cuban -- who's -- the awful but for the right deny him to -- father with a bricklayer 90s maybe he would did you catch -- everyday grown up with them -- the best man -- man throw a third that's right."
[1:50:04]" Mean just that just because they were articles -- I'm not saying but he's not -- your all time I'm saying you have to you have to just because Brenda -- doesn't work the hardest. -- means they'll can't be the best receiver of all time any -- as a -- that the I thought. I think he's at his abilities but if you put the work -- that that writes that he would be far away that's the -- may -- that's one of the reasons why he's excelling this year because he's putting in that work because he's an environment in which he feels comfortable. And which he feels confident in people appreciate him for what he does on the field and could care less about his off field antics that is they were. You know -- time ago he's in a comfortable spot. Now look at the results you're getting and I think this -- grid of credibility when Adam shepherd told us early in the program that Randy is not going anywhere. And -- who thinks that definitely Randy moss he's going to sign for shorter money that he -- get on the open market and stay -- doing Anatoly here at that I don't he doesn't want to make sure makes a lot especially. Us got in Washington DC is regarded the patriots running game I too am concerned about Moroni. However there are several things that should be noted including the following the patriots actually ranked fourth in the league ahead of the colts at least until after this past weekend. Roney -- a -- both averaged four point seven yards per carry. Colts have five more rushing touchdowns patriots have thrown for twice as many touchdowns as the -- interest in numbers."
[1:51:25]" I'm still on school an old school type of run game guy where like the -- or more that I like the guy who's young dancer on the corners to give Iran Barry Barry Sanders won a great -- backs it if he probably would have. Played a full career he would've been considered secret for an actual time but. I I am I like the guys who can really mix it up and through tackles or because those those are the guys who are very of the most valuable. To the team. Come January and a guy like Maroney. I just don't think he's as valuable as he could be if he could mix it up in between tackles more than."
[1:51:59]" Does that I has been -- huge physical especially with Marvin Harrison enjoy -- I showed last week like he's one of the best run back in the NFL. I mean I think he's certainly it would die based on what we call him and what -- is knowingly did put him in in at least the top half dozen. Without a doubt I -- the top three in rushing yards and ethic right. Zone in all I mean you can think of Peterson you think of you know if you if you want to you know come with a guy like Larry Johnson against city if he probably come over to Israel as -- that you probably still through LT in their -- he's -- a sub -- year for him but I think you've got to include Joe would die in the categories it would because of his ability to take the ball with past as well as the volatility and he showed he could do that the first athlete in this weekend they've been absolutely"
[1:52:41]" with -- what -- we have here ot two ago mr. comes from Michael Michael is in Virginia he says says there's too much talk about it talk about today -- thought I would email in about next year one of the patriots going do about the -- next year. Here is a list of possible retirement after the season Bruschi Harrison now re able. Also on and on Randall -- hit the marketing go elsewhere that's a possibility of sick people leaving. Reading plan should be going forward."
[1:53:11]" I think I'm Bethany is stunned analogy like yeah like that that's good or bad tell us what I would lose that many as I can see. Day out but I'd be able ending I don't think -- I don't I don't in fact they are I think of the -- go out in the do win this. I think -- the only one of the for the does the does go in and he had a talent I think that he could go that I am sure that -- you want to go while you were gone out the year after I broke him if he he."
[1:53:48]" You know combat combat for two years right. Right so I think. And I think that's one of the things are trying to get with Russell is that. I think a main focus while I would like to see them given that and I think one of the main focuses for this draft in the off season. And I think he alluded to a little bit about draft trading down for more picks later on is. Filling holes in the defense. Because a problem there that are most of their guys on offense also -- the players -- locked up for next year so the -- what store over on that other ball. They're going to that's going to be a main focus for them in the draft is is. Drafting good solid defensive players like they've been -- to do the past."
[1:54:25]" Six years the topic Samuels in all likelihood going to be an unrestricted create yeah I think the market I think that I think he'll be gone -- maybe that allows Randall -- a chance to -- You know maybe they can deal with -- okay as an annual may be the one that does go. That's what I think and you know I think you know of those six players. Samuel and stale I think would be -- most likely actually that's okay good stuff obviously -- from theories is the only of the clubs that clinched the division crown. After playing 11 games. Have been the 85 bears the 97 49ers and the 2004 eagles. How old I was we were talking about the Russell earlier and he was right about the 85 bears in the 90s haven't 49ers -- Campbell -- eating Kamal what that lives. Thank you being 40 niner fan. The 4 eagles I didn't know that they clinched after 11 games the NFC east as it is now so they NFC's most been lousy down -- like -- this is terrible you know -- that's good of their. If the patriots do clinched next weekend buffalo than that would be the fourth team to clinch after 11 games. Just little food for -- and this one comes from nick who says you continue to repeat Jim managed statement welcoming the path to get defeated club in good for him Allah -- report you'd managed I'll bond. -- spike -- in running up the score. Both he and hank Greenberg went to town on the classless line and the someone is going to hurt Brady because of the running up of the point. Currently both of clean up their act on the here perhaps only -- pats versus dolphins to. Well -- surprised me the first of all you know."
[1:55:58]" They played their audience. That you're gonna if your local talk show -- you guys are learning this as we go along here but -- your local -- you pander to your audience you cater to your audience who talked him about war. Is interest in their minds and the courts dolphin fans could care less about the patriots all the fans hate the patriots the all the -- whoever it could hurt the patriots what I'm sure that's why they're talking about. Because that's what they want to hear but when you're talking to a national regional or national audience is different. And manage his comment was made it was carried on a national wire any national talks though. You know it's natural to expect that he is going to tackle for the state -- you get the really interesting stuff. Is when you you don't saying the thing that you for the local audience you repeated the national audience that we really stirred the drink. -- none of those guys a woman's. Well something that can be entertaining and purely for entertainment vacancies when the patriots faced the dolphins. Will you show up will he be there. We'll open -- up again doubtful. That we 16. They -- we don't -- it's that we. For ya -- giants in the last well actually I haven't yet the movies so those 16. They just 1615 pulp and 16 giants right right exactly I think it's no please -- I think and and and you know that the national media will descend upon south Florida as the patriots approach those last couple weeks especially now when they play the dolphins again here. They'll go down to south Florida to -- previews of all week long leading up to the game. But that week that the that the patriots playing at the giants the attempt to get that reaction on this stuff that so"
[1:57:30]" I think but I think he brings of one good point though is that teams are going to be looking to two get after -- more harder than normal and I think that's one concern about playing him in. In two weeks 151617 especially if or even 1213 1415 win -- he's -- locked up another don't want to get the number one seeds about them and played for. But that's one thing I know we have this in our two minute drill a class we discussed -- of the score. And I I'm on the I'm on the -- that. If if -- it's not a hand you know and it's in the bag -- two starters get as many you can either I know they want him to get work in for games like the cold games but. You can't risk you can't risk have extra risk for -- hurting a guy like Brady armagh when there's so integral to the team's success. -- hasn't been -- what he's been -- three or four times all season so al that there there's not a big risk there offense of line -- the Brady. He can sit in the pocket all -- but if your plan a team like like the dolphins of the giants who have Jason Taylor who have Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan and all the guys up front. They're gonna he's going to take obviously going to take more it's even a guy even with him at the colts who have Freeney Mathis he's going to take more hits because those guys are better I don't care how good. Patriots offensive line is. Those those people's lives are still better he's going to take some hits. You wanted to picket the games in the end and I -- local team was never in hand so yeah that's obvious but the other games you gotta give out there it was a games. As soon as the game is over and done with in the bag get him out of there just because you can't risk losing Brady because you have we saw we you have. After Grady you have Matt Cassel and -- a."
[1:59:04]" I do not want to do not want all our our -- little rather pay that the two fastest -- you've ever spent 100 absolutely good job I'm going to give you guys if you want to hear you have a chance there's one thing. He wanted to talk about before we finish out he got a shot. And I don't I mean we're to talk I wanted to get in about the next year before I think that's -- okay they've been overlooked is the fact that we have the four for the world the first. I'll I'll talk about this was that the revolution are here tonight I think we're going to keep our press -- and stick around very well don't forget -- kids next Tuesday next Tuesday's program here on one -- From two to 4 PM eastern time we play. Patriot match game 2000 sent. -- just you're gonna have to tune in to believe this one going to be a lot of -- we've got special panelists we've got rises. Hi I'm Christina -- from patriot. And I we have Christina Akron. And believe me she's worth the price of admission so you definitely want to tune into that -- be next Tuesday at 2 PM eastern time don't. -- enjoy the patriots -- a BO enjoyed the we try that again. That's a good one and it's going to play the other on the Jeff foreman. As we lap for a little again -- good idea. We watch club as we well what. Enjoy the patriot -- football weekend everybody was in --"
