[1:41:54] ..." All right speaking of the guys down a hallway Tom Brady. Adalius Thomas Eric Alexander and Donte' Stallworth in the patriots locker room as the preparations continue. For the Baltimore ravens next Monday night in"...
[0:00]" That's gone out to -- out dolphins want to go ponting. Bryant that they've won a pair of skis patriots playbook -- back -- Looking down -- Sundays game. Around the net than these gatorade for the break. Jack do look. Great for the rest of the 2000 and it -- And some of the point seven between."
[0:41]" Played Wednesday we won't give you inside your compatriot dot com radio kids I'm John rook. And that's getting now set for Monday night encounter with the Baltimore ravens mentioned this yesterday I'm amazed I'm mentioning him right now why does seem like always playing at night. Be nice to get a good old fashion -- game. In -- 1 PM eastern time kickoff just you know trying to my whole life is getting turned upside down right -- but all the night games that are going on you -- coming up again in ten minutes. Ron Jaworski jaws himself from ESPN that a part of the champions Monday Night Football crew he's going to join -- in the program he joined -- once early this year before Monday Night Football in his acquiesced again. -- get into the a patriots in ravens' matchup and it's -- his thoughts on them at least the recent roster move which will touch on your just a moment also -- and asking who is the play by play voice of the Baltimore ravens. Is scheduled to join us in the 3 O'Clock hour this afternoon approximately one hour from now so you problem. Stay -- that if you want the latest on the Baltimore ravens that will be coming up in about an hour right after we were done yesterday well not right afterwards on the probably within about an -- so."
[1:52]" If we're through yesterday's program the patriots -- did the -- announcement of activating Troy brown and putting. Roosevelt Colvin on -- media injured reserve list a little bit of a surprise I think and in Rosey Colvin instance because he did leave the field under his own power again on them on Sunday about based on what I recollect anyway moon what we talked about will be it would be -- yesterday. And you know I'd I guess. You have to expect this -- you you have to expect the patriots have been so fortunate. In the injury department thus far this year more so than usual because we all know the last couple years the secondary in particular has been devastated by injuries. And this year they've for the most part avoided. The really big ones until now. And -- you know listen into the POW guys talk about a little while ago I think you're sort of downplaying. -- Coleman's loss overall. To the events I think it's easy to do that to be honest with -- because of the depth that they have and quite frankly in the overall scheme of things it may not mean as much as you think it will mean although it certainly will leave the depth the little bit thinner in the line backing core. Let me say this about Coleman. As he had a statistically speaking one of his best years maybe not. But I think we also all with at least our own -- early in the season where he was. He had more explosiveness coming off with the coming off the edge. And we was lining up as an average rusher -- in in you know creating havoc in the in the backfield we've seen him have more explosiveness now this season then at any point in time in his previous -- career and probably certainly since prior to his -- hip injury that he had suffered in his first year here -- So the fact that he's going to be gone for the rest of the season which obviously also include playoffs is a blow there's no two ways about it. But -- the patriots overcoming yeah sure they came in we talk about that just a couple of we Miller's it will what do they do and quite frankly. Bill move both sale and Bruschi. To the middle. Rather than you know altered each -- the problem put the ball that there and that brought Chad brown and as well to provide some support on the end but -- is Thomas is obviously still very much a factor there and most likely than he's been playing largely in the middle this year. He'll probably moves on the outside and who's to say a guy like Pierre woods won't get a look. He's been playing mostly specialties but you know that's what he did he had great edge rushing speed when he was at Michigan. And so woods could also get an opportunity here and then you know this is of course in the papers decide 34 is the way they need to go most of the way. And we saw a lot of four down linemen sets. This past week against the eagles in an effort to contain and try to bottle up a guy like Brian Westbrook which for the most part I thought they accomplished against the eagles on Monday it's on Sunday night so you know to that and if they go 34 then you probably will see those two inside guys playing quite a bit. Together sale on Bruschi. But if they stay for three. I don't see their rotation hurting at all in fact right now based on the personal sets. To me it makes more sense to look at the 43 because you're deeper on the defensive line. Look at as well you that would Seymour Jarvis Green in there together. Slide Vince Wilfork over a little I mean it it makes good sense. So don't be surprised to be -- more. Four down linemen four down defensive lineman steps from the patriots based on the injured occult and you know wouldn't surprise -- but. I really don't think it's going to change a whole lot with the patriots have done defensively to this point time it doesn't hurt -- to have him gone now -- does it hurt -- depth. It -- skill position wise here's a guy that you know could be considered still a difference maker 41 defects. But you know they just aren't any teams that haven't been hit by the injury bug. Patriots may have been one of the last few teams to really been hit hard by the injury -- if anything the patriots were hurt by injuries early in the season. When they -- didn't have Seymour for a while of course they did have Rodney Harrison for you know his suspension. But the picture or her with a couple of big happens especially defensively early in the year and then got guys back and now they lose again with Coleman being out for the year. So just a little bit of a different perspective on on the BB Rosey Colvin -- injury. In all it was having an all pro seasons now not really I mean you probably could save the all pro accolades for a guy like Mike Vrabel. Be honest with the coming year that he has had. And done. I think that you know he's had a solid year but you know is it over comparable sure. Injuries are supposed to feel comfortable if you -- a team that is follow like the patriots thought. So that's just him it's it's a mere blip on the radar screen is pretty much on looking at -- I I'm curious to know right off the bat how you. Look out Roosevelt Colvin absence now and what you would do if you could scheme of the patriots defense from here on out how would you set the personnel. Who would you like to see. In these situations then -- besides him. Web radio at patriots dot com -- the email address web radio at patriots dot com. Do you want to see Salem Bruschi there together and reports that you want to see more four down linemen set to -- Jarvis Green. You want to see more Pierre woods Eric Alexander what are your Chad brown you want to see him and who do you want to say. We want to see how do you want the patriots in your best destination how do you want the patriots to overcome. Roosevelt Colvin absence now for the rest disease all right so that's one danger would be talking about the other thing that dumb. And that we will entertain today here in the program the other thing that -- kind of dawn in the am listening to some local Sports Radio here -- the guys that he EI do that you on the patriots Monday programming in. And I'm I'm trying to think you know what what of one of the things that I kind of hammered on over the course the year fairly consistently has to do with them. The lack of over real tangible results I think in the running game. And I realized that I have not been this year huge fan if you will although Laurence Maroney I think Sammy Morris was a pleasant surprise to all of us it's unfortunate that it took her an injury. There's another injury that certainly you know the patriots at least this point time it seemed to sort of overcome although we all know be great if we still had more isn't there for quite frankly and the -- the tougher of the two backs. Nevertheless things are not as bad as it seems. Case in point I'm looking through the NFL statistical numbers today in -- and obviously enough numbers to make your head spin. But the one thing that really jumped out at me and I don't know of anybody else's made this is sort of observation not the one that jumped out at me is the -- the patriots are actually pretty pretty decent. In rushing their seventh in the NFL in total rushing offense. And they're not far out of relive the top three or four. So even though you know they don't have a back you know that's up there an individual yardage don't have anybody in the top ten certainly in the top 15 in rushing -- morally just out of that but. Fact is is that team rushing wise. They ranked seventh in the league. Still averaging over a hundred point four yards per game in the ground and 300 intent of the year which by far away as the number one total offense. In the NFL. Take this a step further. Patriots -- third in the NFL in rushing touchdowns. Third in the entire NFL in rushing touchdowns so again we handle on the point the Laurence Maroney. Until a couple of weeks ago had zero now he has what to. I believe on the season rushing touchdowns but the patriots are still third in the league in rushing touchdowns tied -- would they have 12 rushing touchdowns this season. That's another thing that sort of jumped on me and I guess the third. Not necessarily final thing but the other thing that jumps -- including the patriots rushing offense is in terms of first downs. First downs gained in fact. That when you take a look at the team gaining first downs. Hold on now here hold on just for a second all right because this from the going to shock you pitchers have 289 and total first downs. K which is still -- to one number normally. They've gained 96 of those first downs the rush. Which is number one in the NFL 96 number one in the NFL in rushing first out. So it'll again. Things are never as bad as it seems maybe this is you know maybe this is where you give you know tremendous amount of credit two. I don't know -- line two I don't know on the offensive coaches -- to the individual players that you know. Each of us at some point in time or another has you know -- Donald little bit this season. That is is that that's those are all numbers that are you know actually not respectable -- down right impressive now. What I think would be an interesting sort of comparison would be. To take a look at what the rushing numbers are this year overall in the NFL and compare them to what rushing numbers were in the last year or two or even three. Because I'm of the impression that overall passing yardage continues to rise throughout the NFL while rushing yardage continues to drop. For the most part. -- may be negligible but I still get the impression that there's just more. They're just more total yardage gained overall via the air -- on the ground. And somebody has done that research I would love to hear from today what radio that patriots dot com but that's just my overall impression I have spent most of the morning going -- a lot of these numbers here in those the numbers that really jump out at me about this team so. Things are never as bad or is dismal as -- of course it's kind of tough to put the -- dismal one associated with anything the patriots are doing nowadays on the we all realize that but. You know I'd just. We always look we always -- right Tuesday's or nitpick Tuesday's for us and even -- opens Wednesday but you know we always have a tendency to try to nitpick on things that could be improved could be a little bit better things that you know haven't gone as well the could stand some improvement you know just nit picked. For sake of nitpicking for the sake of argument mostly in Tuesday's throughout the season and frankly. Even on a day late with -- this week that's what I'm thinking I'm thinking you know -- the rushing numbers look gotten looking like. So ago there was some of the numbers. And bingo it's not near as bad as it looks. Are pleased to be joined once again by a member of the ESPN Monday Night Football crew recourse -- part of the broadcast -- patriots take on the Baltimore ravens next Monday night. In Baltimore Ron Jaworski. -- it's great talking again thanks for spending a couple of minutes --"
[13:20]" Always a pleasure of sitting in my opposite an adult films just got done braking now because patriots games so the information --"
[13:27]" Okay here you go that. This is what we've been talking about for the last couple of days duo indeed. The eagles and or other teams now in the NFL have a quote unquote blueprint to beat the patriots"
[13:40]" I expect and I chuckle because I've I've heard that word all week it's been decided after the patriots at a close to victory over the eagles on Sunday night now if you look offensively. That what the patriots did did it it it's quite amazing actually the only hit eight possessions in the game to kneel down the other night possession really doesn't count they win. 73 plays and those who is national or every county got the ball to -- grand ninth place. A third out they were tennis 16 or 63% conversion you know what you look at Tom Brady 3454380 yards and a touchdown. If you call that a blueprint for stopping the -- you must be a blind person I mean. -- that this offense went up and down and steal Wes Welker was phenomenal -- drop back to 57 times uncalled passes he was hit. Four times the other three -- hit four times you -- clearly if there is -- blueprint it is this. Keep the ball away from Tom Brady which for the most part the eagles did do good job of."
[14:42]" Yeah I would agree with that number one. Number 2 yeah AJ Feeley -- you know ahead may be the best game of his career -- was picked off three times one of them returned for touchdown but he only really -- what I thought were really bad passes all night -- and fortunately for him it cost him."
[14:57]" Well you know it's after looking at tape from the from the pitcher's perspective defensively I thought there rewards from the hole in the defense I thought when the eagles attack the middle of the field. They were successful they did not get enough quick pressure -- AJ -- if he would see much more really did -- sense style player than Donovan McNabb has forsaken them what's really with Donovan -- extend the place style but AJ -- brought to you -- to read covered quickly they get the ball out of his -- And he didn't look very good job that -- despite -- you know -- not -- eagles wide receivers -- they -- they they can't put -- pretty -- wide receivers on the field and -- a great that would by the Westbrook who was maybe -- most explosive running back -- receiver in the national football they -- creates some problems toward -- that's -- if you look at the patriots defense and I -- vulnerable -- I believe it is linebackers if you could get a running -- like to Bryant Westbrook would be most linebackers anyway but if you give -- match gets -- linebacker. Or slot inside receiver match gets a linebacker you have a chance for success to get just patriots defense is not a high percentage blitzing -- What he did put pressure they're more big mush Russian were they like to compressed the pockets to the -- that will get time to get rid of the football."
[16:19]" And that's exactly what happened on Sunday and based panel there. Based now on known what happened yesterday with -- Roosevelt Colvin going on the IR how much more an opportunity you'd think this gives all the teams"
[16:58]" Obviously in the rotation -- to change and one of the things that we talked about was that and went along with the four down linemen said as well as -- alternative to play they contain much rushed -- that you talked about maybe that's something they think about playing a little bit more often against other --"
[17:13]" Did it -- prepare -- the -- but I -- you know you know as well as I do -- that the patriots changed their game. And -- every single week it's not like this is what we do in order conduit the other that they'd like to changeup essentially you know Bill Belichick historically has done a terrific job of taking a wait what you like to do so he'll -- we didn't tell -- on the radio this -- say you know -- here's what they want to do -- Derrick Mason slop through all of the football know between the tackles people take that -- An evil force a team to do what they do the second best or third best and that's really going to strengthen his deep and so he'll he will play three doubt why medieval play afford to -- he will mix it up -- nickel dime base. He would do anything to confuse the -- to take away what they like to deal."
[18:00]" On George Q will be a part of the ESPN Monday Night Football -- patriots play at M and T bank stadium. On Monday that against the ravens how disappointing of the ravens to you as a team going into four and seven in this --"
[18:12]" You have very disappointing to stop -- probably the schedule came -- early in the season -- with a big circle on this one we got this -- be one -- not soccer games you know I -- great deep sense of the ravens outstanding offensive to win the patriots it just hasn't played out that way from the Baltimore perspective anyway -- and that the patriots offense has been outstanding the -- deep sense as not and then they don't they'll -- percentage split -- but they haven't. Bell -- a very well this season -- you lose to number of people they lost the secondary that's about what you expect they just have struggled the corner position due to injuries etiquette to blitzes don't get home their secondary is really struggle that's kind of been their problem on the defensive side of the ball."
[18:53]" Well it certainly would play and I think into the patriots fans because well he ravens was building a pretty physical run defense that you suggested. Pass defenses where they really been banged up in the past events or pass offense I should say put the patriots have more than excelled."
[19:07]" Yeah I would not be surprised if we saw the same blueprint -- epitome in the Bard's words seemed to be this week blueprint from the patriots offense what they did the Philadelphia Eagles they spread them out of the first 29 plays -- what he passes the according to those passes the first step team from the shotgun formation which has become clearly the formation choice for Tom Brady has been absolutely outstanding you know in the shotgun this season -- 200 -- for 28242 touchdowns and four receptions. From the shotgun so Tom clearly -- I think if you could try to run the ball against the ravens -- that you bang your head against a -- I think the best way to attack them as being the past."
[19:49]" How well do you think that the ravens can control ball and keep the ball out of Tom -- hands with Willis McGahee. And whomever else may be on that side of the ball"
[19:57]" it'll be very difficult I I I just don't think that will be the right approach I think -- the ravens come out and say we want to control football we want to control the clock I believe that will be a mistake. You know the strike -- the patriots have a deep set -- their deep that's adult -- their outstanding -- inside linebackers they stopped the run a considerable that they have a liability that is in pass coverage the question is do the ravens have -- skill position players to take advantage of that might -- your decision that a reaction that would be no they don't."
[20:28]" In addition -- that I would think that one of the strengths of the ravens may have here. Would be utilized Todd heap up the middle against the patriots --"
[20:37]" Agree -- disagree that that is going to match -- I think Todd heap is one of those guys -- stable match up you know I I believe when this deal where ravens offense is at least on schedule and productive offense runs through -- he's a guy they could match -- get to safety or linebacker and he could be very effective he also is a very good blocker what -- player however the injuries have slowed -- this season as."
[21:02]" Well sure -- What are your thoughts on Wes Welker I mean what do you think when you hear the term or hear the words Wes Welker put together."
[22:12]" We sure appreciate your -- a little time with -- today and by the way the patriots football weekly writer guys told me to tell you hello."
[22:18]" I don't know my mom my good buddies over there tell everyone hello."
[22:21]" Most definitely thank god I -- it. You go to Ron Jaworski once again who of course will be a part of the Monday Night Football crew on ESPN television as -- take on the Baltimore ravens Monday night in the 8:30 eastern time kickoff at M and T bank stadium definitely get the name state couldn't Kamal as brutal as that but that. -- him be sure it will time with a -- the demands on his time obviously great as you heard him say run off the top pieces sitting in the as the office it is desk and opposite NFL films where they can set him up when -- in the and everything that he needs in an effort to. Studying for the upcoming game and that's exactly what he's in the process of doing so. There you go you get the very latest in the in the first impressions in the matchup commendable Monday night from jaws himself. You have any thoughts any reaction to that any ideas of your own based on his comments web radio at patriots dot com. That's a you get Ahold of web radio -- patriots dot com I and I asked him about Wes Welker because I know that's. What are the things I talk about yesterday's show and in addition -- several email is yesterday right in the say when can we start giving Wes Welker some. Some credit here give him his due and it's not like -- anybody's not giving him any do. What I think is is that he operates in the shadow of the rather large shadows of a guy like Randy moss. And he doesn't do the same things that moss does I think most everybody who's watched -- team realizes that but he brings a skill set. And he brings abilities to this team not only an offense but certainly on special teams as well that. Moss and nobody else on this team can hand nobody else on the team can brain. And that's why yesterday I made the comment that you know. While Tom Brady certainly is deserving of the MVP in my you know he's he's more of -- most outstanding player. But in terms of real value to your team if you really want to look for a valuable player. To the patriots team in 2007 -- really believe you can look no further than 83 Wes Welker. To me he is the most valuable to this patriots team based on what he does. You double team -- great try to stop Welker. You want to single team moss maybe he knows -- great try to stop Welker try to tackle while walker try to defend Welker -- it's just hard to do. Only is there is as a receiver but as a partner is just hard to do -- now you you you understand why it was so difficult for the patriots to stop him. When he was with the dolphins. He's one of those guys that patrons of low for long time whenever they get the chance to get picked have a guy like that they're going to do -- the POW guys mentioned in the previous hour a guy like Ed reed and you know that Belichick gloves -- he's available don't be surprised to see the pager go after him an and frankly it would that be a great move. Here's a guy that you know epitomizes what you know. The patriots want they want versatility they want special talents they want speed it they want toughness they want all these things. Welcome brings that to the table. He absolutely he is the patriot kind of player and there are a lot of similarities and I think we briefly touched on this yesterday but a lot of similarities. In what Wes -- does and what Troy brown did as well for this patriots team a few years ago. Not to say Detroit completely washed up he's obviously activated not going to be part of the of the roster here for the remainder of the season but. Fact is is that Welker is -- and that role. Being able to return -- of being able to. You know give open underneath in short yardage in the middle or over the middle situations on offense. Fantastic and he's able to do with just speed. Speed quickness tough three separate things but he's got the malls and wanted to get his thoughts and then and doesn't spread it all for. For a guy like -- to think what he does about a guy like. -- like walker our web radio at patriots dot com that is of course the email address. -- a time out here we'll take a look at some of these emails we'll share some of them what you and coming up at approximately 30 minutes Jerry sandusky who has the radio politically voice of the Baltimore ravens he will also join -- would take a little bit closer look at the ravens and other problems that they had built off of the field were well actually more specifically on the field this year -- Why four and seven is certainly a bit of a disappointment for them when. Lot of folks and I think I have to include myself in this thought that they would be a definitive contender. Within the AFC. And now does it appear that the ranging from a playoff I mean that have to run the table -- nine and seven and still get a lot of help. I think ten wins is going to get in the playoffs in the AFC this year night and seven probably make it in the area in the NFC but not in the AFC. Also -- the updated on the playoff picture as well as the you know the patriots obviously clinch the division title last week officially with the buffaloes lost soul update that for him. And a couple of the choice little tidbits in terms of some milestones that patriots players are again approaching -- more records. On the horizon get to that moment luxury -- web radio at patriots dot com coming up."

[29:38]" well it's bedtime here again we're Sunday means you're doing of the football. Whether it tailgating in the parking lot throwing the -- get around to just hang in in in watching the game on the tube is all about football. Well BP you're thinking a little too much about football macdonell I'm loving it. I."
[30:37]" People -- that happens -- patriots scored belliard guerrillas tried. I'm trying to patriots brought a wide variety of flavors. You drillers are all you need the the perfect -- go home barbecued chicken out all the patriots gridiron. The -- Patriots rebellion drillers. Brothers -- very hard yards in. Growers when you just can't wait for them. Hampton's agent kids because you don't wanna come up on this. Suppose -- bye week alleged by week that they couldn't get that one of the playoff. Edition of patriots match game 2007 and a little through here."
[31:53]" Info on that point but why did you when did you get a gift yet. Okay good idea. Actually I want to make sure we got you know you never know com couple of things I wanted to bring up today on BO. Michael -- from the globe he said it -- practice this afternoon that team was working on a lot of 47 situations because of what was the colemans. Season ending injuries we've talked about and so they're working on shuffling the line backing -- and working on player combinations. Specifically how to lineup when you're trying to stuff the and so that's a -- in the patriots are working on that day out of practice Kevin -- was not. Available and not present for the media access portion of practice. So the only three running back there on the field today Mulroney Evans and tackle and see what else oh the media demand the players in the locker room of."
[32:51]" Following the practice today had to do with the obviously simmering on the linebackers and so -- it was Thomas Chad brown Eric Alexander and Pierre woods all answered questions concerned concerning the playing time and I guess roles that they expect to have. And then Tom Brady was asked about the third straight night game for the team. And his quote was I'm tired of them I look around at all these tired faces today and I think everyone is just dragging a bit. You just don't get home until late it feels like you're trying to get caught up throughout the week. So this is the price of success kids. This is the price of success fact is that teams dragon a little bit third consecutive game to play at night. The only saving grace with this is is that it is of course on a Monday so there's actually an extra day of rest that's built and but then again this is going to make the big match up the following week on Sunday afternoon light against the Pittsburgh stealers albeit at home. But it'll make it shorter work week."
[33:59]" And you know there's -- the Steelers are near as bad as the three nothing Monday night debacle over the Miami Dolphins show man there's no doubt in my mind field conditions play a huge factor in the game and you -- seen it did to really you know believe but I don't think. I think the Steelers will be ready in the Steelers will be capable for whatever that's worth a Troy brown was not in the locker room during the media access period today calm. Once so now and that's basically update in terms of votes of the players. And the personnel moves that might have been made day in light of Troy brown being activated yesterday -- brown being let go and Chad brown being signed that got an email here. From mom Henry who since this one from Montana and he says. Troy brown activated cream brown released Chad brown re sign all in one day three transactions with guys name brown. Is that another record the -- are set a patriots actually I didn't even think about that the use in that note in but that's kind of funny yeah I it probably has record for brown transactions in one day nieces also consumer -- said -- to Trent dilfer's knees that. Puke when I saw that guy take the field in San Francisco all he does is win he could single handedly ruined my dream of the -- swing at all and it. Having the number one pick in the draft next year well. But as it is about Trent Dilfer he's what we call a survivor. Now Alex Smith just has not taken hold the quarterback job in San Francisco like they had hoped he would. That's an awful lost money in an awful high draft -- to waste on a guy who's not starting who's playing behind a guy like Trent Dilfer now quite frankly but. You know why this is where this were doing your homework is your player personnel people upcoming and they should have seen something in. Xmas and that's it you know what I'm not I'm not on and timbers and sold like this guy being in NFL quarterback. A lot of intangibles involved. Size is one thing ability to throw speed quickness all that stuff but recognition is a huge factor. Ability to think on your -- ability to check off the ability to check down. You know to your you know second third fourth even -- choice is -- his receivers when you really only have a split second. In -- to me that's that's what Tom Brady does better than anybody else in the league and that includes Peyton Manning. And bomb in his ability to check bandages you know different options other than his number one option. And that's the most valuable trait I think that a good NFL quarterback -- you don't have quite as much of a demand to do that in the college game. In the pros it's all about being able to find your second third fourth receivers. Tom is just a guy that seems to somehow put it altogether and put a team on his shoulders and do what -- it takes. Now he was eventually pushed -- just to whatever job he's he's ahead but here's a guy that's hanging onto a career. He's apparently taking over in San Francisco and is you know email -- Henry suggests you making the page from getting you know I don't know at least top five you know pick in the draft coming up next April if 49ers continue to win that 13. I would think they probably could not win any more -- you still have hopes of book. Perhaps selecting in that top five come April but the good email and we think the point of let's give some of the emails that we have from earlier as well and don't forget by the way web radio -- patriots dot com. Is the email address in the initial email question of the day has to do with what was -- absence in what the patriots are working on in practice today. And the working on lineups are working on sets there working on players in and out of the lineup and why would you like to see the patriots day. To replace Roosevelt -- Personnel -- would you like to see on the field would you like to play together. Which like -- more foreman fronts are you okay with you know sale on -- playing side by side in the middle on a 34 set. If you could plan. Tell me what you'd like to see from the patriot defense would now in an effort to. Make up for -- absence and Washington DC says if I am remembering this right Colvin has been placed and I are twice during these years the patriots and both times. We're from games against the eagles that is correct fractured hip back in September of 3 says probably that is also correct yes that is true. Is his second time he's been put on IR. -- since he has become patriot in both times were as a result of injury sustained against. Philadelphia Eagles on opened the eagles really going to be getting any christmas cards from the cold and family. This message and email comfortable but early from Joe in Winnipeg Manitoba he says very entertaining game on Sunday. Kudos to Andy -- in the equals great game plan good execution first half reminded me of a couple of the colts games this season never Jacksonville's pursuit. The opposition played very well but still went into the locker room down at half time great teams find a way to come out ahead against a good team. Playing great. Says I enjoy the podcast yesterday it was nice to get some critical analysis after a game like that I understand what some fans want to say nothing but good things about -- running back. Who has been underperforming and sits out the first athletic -- game I was not as good as the coaches. Yes we don't know what it is a great coach 99% of the time be out coached the opposition what exit I want to hear about it. There is more to being a fan and by managers and their pom pops. It will -- some questions and I like your questions here and be honest with you. Good question -- so let me see if I can tackle these one by one -- Number one more underperforming first round pick Maroney or Meriweather. Little boy well what's it I think you tend to think. The running back is going to be most -- of an impact player -- a safety or a defensive back like Meriweather. Coupled with the fact that this is Moroni second year and it's meriwether spurred some still willing to give -- past. -- had a little more time in the system I have to say if you you know made me choose but doing between the two I'd have to pick -- Is more underperformed. More concerning he says no running game or for secondary play. Well -- no brainer for me import secondary play the opening of the program today idea that gave you some numbers of patriots running game is not near as bad. Statistically speaking as you or I or anybody else think -- debate. Quite the opposite patriots just finished seventh in the league in rushing yards per game. They are tied for third in the league in rushing touchdowns on the season and they -- number -- in the league number one now. In rushing first downs. So you'd have to say that those numbers glad effect that we don't think the patriots have a running game. I have to support secondary play it would be my choice there and frankly. I don't think secondary play it was very good at all on Sunday night against the eagles -- too softly weren't open man coverage much at all. It consistently got torched in the middle -- again. As that may be part of the game plan of what planes -- in not allowing somebody get a -- but frankly it has cost in the game. All have to gold Porsche secondary play more ridiculous cup committee says the eagles have discover the blueprint or her mommy is calling. At I'm gonna say both especially the did discover the blueprint phrase. More likely next week Brady has more than four touchdown passes or the ravens score more than ten people -- points. A -- goodness more likely I would say. Residents -- more than ten points. Pretty could get four touchdown passes but then you know Payton can also run for one and then return -- A kick Perot or fumble or interception for another that seems to be there you know the way that they go I don't think that's how they you know paying half -- people. So they don't say the right to score more than ten but not much more. But 13 would be about right worst loss last week Arizona versus the 49ers or Denver against the Bayer's -- Well I in the top one interest in choices I have to say Denver against the bears was the worst loss by my estimation. Because I think it's more damaging to Denver's potential playoff hopes. It's not even though that lost the 49ers really hurts not only a because. We owned you know the 49ers pick in April's draft but -- shouldn't still hurt quite as much because they're five and six abroad and still only a game out of the potential wildcard spot in the NFC. So in the overall scheme of things I don't think Arizona's loss is quite as bad as Denver may be because that could be damaging to Denver's hopes. Of catching and or surpassing San Diego in the AFC west. Neither one of those teams going to get in a Denver or San Diego with a like it's gonna get and his wild -- you're gonna have to win the west division. In order to be in the playoffs and get in as most likely the fourth seed. -- that Denver's losses from is is is the worst big win last week juices Cleveland over Houston. Or Tampa Bay of Washington. I'm gonna say Cleveland over Houston Joe because I think that win. -- over the Texans stamps Cleveland as a legitimate playoff contenders really for the first time. Season in the AFC -- as to -- I think is pretty much convinced everybody now that you know after Dallas Green Bay Tampa probably third best team in the NFC. And I think they thought of them as play a team already and now even though the the win over Washington might help solidified them as a potential. Oh I don't know contender in the NFC I'm basically -- was bigger because Cleveland's universe. The they have perform in is. Probably a tough for universe. And -- his game you looking most forward to this week Green Bay in Dallas for Jacksonville in Indianapolis two great games. I really do hope to catch all of at least part of both of these games. But because I'm all along time cowboy fan -- FC Green Bay and Dallas is the one I'm really looking forward to most this week although it was certainly keep an eye peeled and Jackson -- Indy for AFC playoff reasons but the agreement and Dallas let's see what team is the NFC's best at least for the regular season which you can certainly Emeka. Substantial case for. After the outcome of the game this Sunday. Plus the fact that the winner of the game we'll have a definitive leg up in home field advantage in the NFC. A they would be much much too -- for Dallas to go to Green Bay in the playoffs that it would be for Green Bay to come to Dallas. So in that regard I think it's I think the pressure right now is on the cowboys to win at home against Green Bay on Sunday. -- it's going to be more difficult for them. It's it's a bigger game in that regard Green Bay I think is playing almost with house money although I don't think they realize that but. Nobody thought Green Bay was going to be as good -- there were some expectations in Dallas not to the extent that there are obviously tenant on but. There were more expectations and Dallas having been angry -- So I'd have to say the pressure on doubts. Pressure on the cowboys to. Prove that they are the best in the NFC over the Green Bay Packers geez that's an excellent excellent email and I think you for sharing and sending it to us today. Let's see we can apply along hear this from comes from bread and he says he opened the clarity of Brady's calls in only Brady calls on the NBC telecast Saturday in the about it no one asked. Bill about it today either have any of you know unfortunately I haven't. Mom I'm assuming because it was an ass that is pretty much a non issue any longer we surmised about this little yesterday. Not only on the show -- of W and I didn't hear. Early in the showed MP ability progress so much of the talk about it all but frankly I think again. A reiterate what I mentioned to yesterday that this is a matter of parabolic might pick ups downs. And signals from common being pointed to the line of scrimmage and you're being able to pick it up some because the crowd -- less when the patriots have the ball then win the eagles had the ball. I don't think there's anything more to -- that. Don't think there's any kind of conspiracy on the even try to get back you know. Maybe maybe it is -- turn the parabolic Mike down because they realize that you know they were really picking him up Gooden. There's a good chance you will might pick up an F bomber too although doing television operates in 102 delay. So now I don't think that there is -- want to anymore then what -- Horry talked about quite honest. This one comes from home -- in Calgary Albert says Richard Seymour has seemed invisible this season what is the problem will. -- first ball my initial reaction to that question is that's kind of harsh you realize of course the Richard Seymour missed six games right. So take that into consideration fact that he was you know on the physically unable to perform list. And then he was allowed you know what was the weaker to come back before he finally was activated by the patriots. Would you. You have to realize he's just now basically finishing his training camp. So he's just now -- getting into the kind of shape that you might expect a player to be in. When the regular season starts and is now -- in five games left in the regular season. So if we go that formula. I think it's reasonable to assume. Then he'll beginning mid season stride in his step and in his playing abilities provided he continues to stay healthy. He probably will hit the canister what you expected -- about the time the playoffs start and isn't that really what it's all about here. So I'm thinking -- the -- too much about Richard Seymour at all. Right and this one comes from mom. Brad is well it's the same guy. On Brandon Meriweather races are you can write him off already got to remember Sanders or Jarvis Green playing -- on the first season either. Nobody's writing off anybody. Nobody is writing Albany. You know it I I'm not sure what kind of expectations you head of a guy like -- Brandon Meriweather than the fact that he was a first round draft pick and so. And obviously when you're taken the first round there are bigger expectations placed on your shoulder familiar for -- human being a player. And you probably going to play a lot while it's not necessarily the case depending on the position you play. In this particular instance patriots have been fairly healthy. An early in the year when they were missing in the secondary Rodney Harrison because of -- suspension -- very solid performances from James Sanders. They're just wasn't just takes so what does it don't try to make is -- trying to make his way on special teams which is what most rookies do. -- was going to get plenty of chances plenty of opportunities to make his way on the field. Tomorrow how he has got a -- slack. That's that's extraordinary it would go this from comes from mom -- And he says John I -- this question of the of W guys and his want to get your opinion two races I think that team has lost its hope on Maroney. And not blaming them since I think he's a stud I hate to think it might not seen anyone ignited the patriots -- really missed big in the past two drafts. He says in 2006 the only player worthy of his pick is just asking. In 2007 -- because the guy we picked in the fourth round of meriwether is nothing but disappointment. But it papers went away from their approach choosing players based on value instead of choosing players based on need do you agree no. I don't and she's done what I just democratic. I I'm not yet even though I'm disappointed in Maroney. I'm disappointed because he doesn't seem to be durable I'm not disappointed to -- because of his lack of ability of that makes any sense -- testimony has all the ability in the world. And the -- Maroney has the ability to justify taking him where the patriots took. Mike -- towards Maroney is he just can't stay healthy. By some of the Toney is he seemed to be guided for lack of better -- here. Down to weasel a can't bounce back from an injury I don't know that means he can't play -- white maybe has a lower threshold for pain I don't know. But it just seems like there are you know injuries that are. Almost inconsequential almost nonexistent that he's missing time for or sort of was so we're told by the team. And so I -- more over his do ability than anything else I think he's I think he's got all the talent a lot of running back. I also know that the patriots have asked him to -- just some things about his running style that he has yet to adhere to. But I don't think he's bust yet. I think he's under achieved a bit but larger that's only because on his inability to stay on the field. -- as -- merely the being disappointment no I'm not willing to say that yet I'm just not he can't say that basically not even three quarters of the way through. You're you're you're rookie season you can't you can't do that. Seek we'd go our way. We are -- in an instant gratification society. If you're stamped a top round draft pick a first round pick in immediately people think -- here. Immediate impact on affected team going to be better because -- so it's a first round player. You know that's just that's just not true -- just what you don't -- sugar coating the whole thing. Not true that teams have selected busts in the first round hello Chris Canty. Our home but the fact is is that not the one of these guys in 6 or seven. Is what I would categorize abolished I just don't think that that is. Appropriate categorize nation yet. If you wanna say under achiever okay I'll buy that for -- I'm still not yet quite -- that the meriwether. Because I just don't think he's been put in a position where they needed him. Ought to be able to contribute he's contributing where they've needed to and that's a special things. And they've gotten solid play out of a guy like James Sanders. You know who's stepped in for Eugene Wilson -- and -- Rodney Harrison on -- a couple of separate occasions this this year and -- seven year. That allows them to nurture and bring along a rookie. So -- other than one from their approach choosing players based on value if anything I think what they're doing is they're continuing to do that. Be curious to know because I didn't hear them earlier. Be curious to know that what the guy said to you about that particular questions we have a chance to. Send another email let me know what they said in answer to that I'd be curious to know about that. Els who wouldn't you know your four year. When we break and no injuries and a ski in the -- what was the Baltimore ravens -- about ten minutes. Honestly come from Diana Bridgeport, Connecticut -- says -- if the patriots go up a few touchdowns in games. What do you think of them using moss or Welker. Is receivers and defensive there's -- My home based on Diane build what you -- if saying what are your plans and in response to his plans for Troy brown coming back and would you put him in. In a defensive capability like he has done in the past -- like you've used in past news is saying no we would not strictly be -- offensive or special teams contributor my guess would be that. I only patriots have that in in their arsenal team they have put somebody. Like social soccer you know in a kick return situation on a missed field goal -- you know when you're trying to get their block a Google or something like that. In -- that maybe they put a guy like Randy moss against the good but if it's supposed to block -- field goal attempt at a top but. Is receivers on the offensive there's an -- I don't know that that would necessarily be the case I think they'd like their secondary enough and certainly he if they were going to do something like that. But Troy brown in their first what do you mean doesn't he have the experience to go that way. And relatives and said no that's not in our plans for him at this time so. I don't know that that would necessarily be the case novel idea I don't know either one of those guys really stand for it. Don't know they have clauses in the contract that would either a keep them from doing it to be. -- for you know minutes played on the field who know post entry into. But I sort of and the doubt of that would be part of your game plan overall. The radio at patriots dot com is the email address again. Arm -- hear from me today if you have some ideas. Because of the money that game coming up against the ravens this next Monday at him and T bank stadium in Baltimore. So the it's not quite the normal Wednesday normally on Wednesday we of the conference calls with the of the opposing coach and one the players on the team -- those -- actually be taking place tomorrow however. I can tell you that again in a few minutes was scheduled to be joined by Gerry sandusky was the radio voice the Baltimore ravens get this from his perspective and take on this five game losing streak the ravens. We're going to right now number one number two in the latter part of this hour toward the end of the hour. We will definitely get into the patriots locker room and what you hear from the patriot players themselves on preparations this week for the ravens. Not Tom Brady -- Thomas on Eric Alexander and bleached all war and we also heard from as well so walk all that's coming up boy at the tail end of this Howard won't get into the well in the locker room four I mentioned a little while ago that the patriots as good as things have been. -- up course this season they have set several records that probably will continue to set not only 14 but maybe even NFL records overall. Well in the final five weeks of the season numbers begin to kind of pile up a little bit here's -- it's always a good thing. And actually has gotten very very difficult to keep up with -- most of it certainly gotten that the people would solve it. On the gotten also difficult to just keep to be with most of it yet there are some milestones approaching here that you may or may not have been aware of on that patriots are actually approaching. In some individual as well as teen numbers that's been compiled here by the patriot purest but that was kind of -- and like pass along to you because. As we all know this is at times certainly celebrate being patriots fan given some of the futility in previous years -- but at first of all -- seventh division title now in 48 years. Doesn't -- right. Eight of them have come. In the regime of follow Robert Kraft family outing that significant to note IU we go come. Milestones Mike -- Needs half a sack to reach ten sec for the season that would at a new career high I'd be the first major player. With ten -- more sex since Willie McGinest had to back in 1995. That's pretty significant think overall and really hasn't been that long to the major player been in double digits in the quarterbacks acts. So that one point went to court a couple of moment right now though. [1:03:58]" Well that's got we've been trying to pick on on. And it just seemed and I called this a couple times -- the perfect storm especially on offense where. It's just a bunch of things have conspired to go right all the same time."
[1:04:18]" Edit it -- that is you have great players. Breaks and great help off. That it ought to Baltimore we adopted her dad read about it attitude really but they're up together all year. A -- the patriots put together. Oh local pocket every order aren't bought."
[1:04:40]" Absolutely that's one of the things that I wanted to talk to -- about right off the -- quite frankly Baltimore's team what was team I think that everybody thought was -- in the competing you know for a potential suitable spot out of the AFC this year. [1:05:38]" It's also very true in fact I guess I didn't really realize it was that significant but when you put it like that -- 20 eternal difference you can see where that can really hamstring literally a team."

[1:06:21]" You know -- way to look at it and -- I and I think that that's what makes the ravens a dangerous opponent number one because. [1:07:16]" I think that and seeing some of the court's already that I've seen another Samari Rolle has been quoted. Brian billick has been quoted as good piece that is too short while ago. Well on USA today about this with the struggles that the this ravens team -- gone through the fact is that the players seem to be pointing this direction and and Brian -- opposite this is an opportunity for us in front of home folks. To show the potential. That this team has -- do you still buy into that."
[1:07:42]" Are absolutely irrelevant and it's not just strictly cool I think it is really decent in it. That they have a great season and the last thing they have -- it to look forward to -- got caught up that I honestly."
[1:08:15]" Well Jerry sandusky -- calls the games for the Baltimore ravens joining us here on patriots playbook now. I've noticed a strange number and I there's got to be a trick to this number but. Baltimore quarterbacks have lost ten. Fumbles this year why is that."
[1:08:32]" Part of it is pressure. Steve McNair wasn't mobile what he has played because we brought in on the back injury. He used to be much more elusive. And he would get out of the way of someone actually yeah a lot of it coming up quarterbacks. Especially -- but he couldn't get out of the way and -- his track record has always been I degree of inconsistency. In that sometimes he does not care all -- that you got popular way it would sure you don't feel pressure sometimes when he should. And those add up to all."
[1:09:06]" Right defensively we talked to Ron Jaworski in the last hour and he said the united it's pretty clear that either because of some of the injuries that the ravens have poem sustained in the secondary that is really hampered the deepens overall effectiveness. In order to help keep their team in games. Tom did seem to be the type of setup over the patriots that would play into your favor. Given what we know the patriots can do with a passing offense so I guess my question you have maybe one that you can't necessarily answer but how do the ravens. Prepare for Tom Brady in the receivers."
[1:09:39]" With a lot of hope that the -- exactly what what what I think you have to do first and foremost the -- what you have to figure out that. In a best case scenario how would we attack. Operate and it I've watched the patriot -- I think there's only one way you can you can. Limit operate effective and -- you have to figure out a way to prevent him stepping into blues -- What went when -- as the iron to step into the rose he is arguably the most precise. Pretty -- Eddie -- or act mutant uncanny how big is brilliant when he stepped into the pros and why you either get strong pressure up the middle. Or sports tend to throw on the run we don't have the chance to plant step. The row -- sequent away from him it's the only argue limit is affected. I think that's step one of the rate is. Make that the focus of their game and stepped it becomes finding ways with limited personnel to make that happened that means exotic looking. That means a usual pressure. And technical means lining up players in positions you would not normally -- last week we saw a loading not a lot of the -- Against the San Diego Chargers -- a lot of safety blitz I think that's the type of thing the ravens are going to have to do it. Be creative and find ways to make sure Brady -- into -- stepped into that broke because because quite possibly. I don't think it matters who the quarterback is. Breaking could be complete the pass with those receivers to anybody if he could step into the."
[1:11:23]" Your they will realize also that were Baltimore has excelled in. Eventually is certainly against the run swollen and it still pretty physical presence defensively so. It to me anyway no telling what's coming sometimes isn't as easy to defend or to move the ball against now. On the other side of the football you know I know that. It seems to me to be an object of for a lot of objective for a lot of teams to hold on the football much that can't keep the football out of -- and keep the football all the way to the patriots offense. Is that do you think is the way that the ravens perhaps become effective on Monday night."
[1:12:00]" I think that anybody become suspect in the problem is that the ravens offense has not been so -- it existed this year. You're going to the game and realistically think we're gonna put together 610 play drives. The topic that at Portland one touchdown pass in any game this year. The ravens aren't from the all well but not so well that you could say I hated the game that you could keep running running running. So without oddity that Pete plays in the could be different this week without -- The ravens don't have -- ball control variable that they would need to -- on the -- out eight what they love the rock -- absolutely. Well maybe yeah -- O'Clock I don't think they'll of that onslaught he had the patriot if they don't have thought we."
[1:12:46]" What is the latest on taught me that you could tell us on the injury report comes a little bit later but in any idea."
[1:12:52]" Yeah they're they're very optimistic that there are eat this week and the other the ravens -- to have the first time this year is that backup at Wilcox. They complain with the third string tight at all a year when there's. They're they're hopeful he can go they're pretty optimistic gamble I will go and a bad habit partly gives the ravens. -- the one thing that they need and that is somebody who can stretch the middle of the -- They have not had a -- constructing until the yield. And that opened up over the middle for report Derrick Mason or Mark Clayton. Right now it's really fairly easy or defensive coordinators. To just figure out. We gotta take away one base and wrigley Clayton and that limit your pet -- Korea. For trial bowler who is not nearly as consistent at recite the pastor at the -- Brady so. I think the ravens offense has been an injury for because coordinators to look at. Because with the lack of healthy bodies they don't have the variables that you need. To put the defense like the patriots utility difficult situations where you can have a night simply."
[1:14:03]" Sure makes a lot of sense in my estimation. How much of this foreign seven season has -- at the feet of Brian billick."
[1:14:13]" Now a lot like military -- degree in athletic training I don't know you can put too much -- at his feet it's part of it and where. I've only two variables have a great deal consistent would you look to superbowl teams and that is we don't try to all over and they stay healthy that the ravens stay healthy he declared the quarterback and party the site and Willis McGahee rugby kinda healthy -- and delighted that much of the season with three rookie. I think the turnover numbers turn back the positive side and that billick looks a lot more true to an offensive coordinator play caller. But with the scenario yeah its biggest challenge -- faces. Is making sure he finds ways for this team looked at every game not just the game as a game analyst meeting."
[1:15:01]" Right I wonder. On top of all of this with the billick Kevin the struggles that he's had with the team struggling with the injuries with the team struggling -- move the football and such. All I know that Rick neuheisel being the offensive coordinators to getting mentioned as potential candidate for college jobs. And -- know from his days in the United States football some 20 odd years ago. Is he number one interested in moving on again number two so how much does this help or setback this team if he does go."
[1:15:32]" Well I think it's it doesn't help the team but the fact that he is such a name in the mix of a lot of college job right now. That big reason why Brian billick has not handle the play -- my situation ravens -- in. It's written articles going to be here five more years I think -- take over the play call I think Brian billick knows that right now he got -- different. Different buttons but he doesn't want to go to -- new article as a play caller -- new -- suddenly turned out to be coaching college. In the next -- and -- believe but it won't be disruptive and counterproductive. And in the more you talk to were -- article the more you realize. It is big guy who would really love is college it again he -- Saturday. It's a great success and I think it's inevitable that he'd become a college coach. It's not in the near future in the period."
[1:16:24]" scenario Jerry how does this team. Finish up here and what should they do in an effort to get themselves back I guess on an even keel and and in a position to compete again for next season."
[1:16:37]" What a couple is best case scenario obviously to pull the upset of the year on Monday night in the there are able to get a couple of wins in the last five games. So that they don't go into the off season feeling like it completely capsized. As an organization. Second thing you have to do is get some clarity on the quarterback situation is -- adult. They need to know that they need to know whether we -- back next year. Because I don't take organizational leader sold on the idea piled bowler being recorded back here next five years. And then that the third -- going to have to get -- which -- will return. Which rhetoric and come back from their injuries. Or would veteran cannot -- Trevor -- come back next year has been a great structure is career job on the comeback next year. And if not what the plan will be moving forward so I think -- very much going to people the ravens. On Monday night -- feeling good prolong the season and then not quite forward asked me. This beacon street. This becomes finding out which young guy at the ability to step up. In the spotlight deliver a consistent basis so the team goes in the next season with a little bit more clarity about what they really -- off."
[1:17:56]" Good stuff Jerry sandusky covered in Baltimore ravens joining us here inside the play book. Thank you -- spending some time today best of -- you continued success and we'll do it again at some point."
[1:18:06]" My pleasure and you guys enjoy the wild rolling numbers of their New England."
[1:18:09]" Could -- as best as we can't appreciate that Jerry thank you mister sandusky in who has the a play by play voice of the of Baltimore ravens joining us here instead playbook and you know. You can almost cents on the just a little bit calm. It was fullness about what he's talking about because you don't they're only 67 years removed from their own so horrible championship and what those dominating defenses that you know -- seen certainly in a long time. Certainly since the 85 bears that Baltimore ravens Stevenson 2000 was as tough as it gets. And so you'd like to think from Baltimore perspective that this team is French it could get back that point again. A lot of people -- that this team would be back at that stage or at least close to that caliber of play when they went 13 and three in the regular season -- a by in the opening round of -- before they they moved on that they'd be back there this year. But the injuries have killed them. And I think he hit the nail on the head and and this comes from someone who really is a novice when it comes to. You know current ravens knowing a lot of the ravens what we get their people on because they can bring us. More of the insight that we can give your in the stands to reason team that they covered in India. But I think that is got to be the number one issue that the ravens deal with coming up soon and that is what to do about Steve McNair what do that your quarterback."
[1:19:34]" In of Kabul or not your guy and I thought they sort of determine that a year or two ago. When they decided to pick -- McNair. If ball is not your guy you've got to go -- get a guy. Maybe the ravens think about a quarterback and one is available. Conceivable possible."
[1:19:53]" And I don't think there is going to come back I think he's pretty much at point now where he's he's done. These injuries allow him to be done though he's not going to suit up at least we're told -- this Sunday with the patriots -- going to apparently get that start again calm that's that's a definitive question that has to be answered I think that have to be issued number one of the ravens but you know once they get healthy and they bring some of their there workable -- back in the place especially defensively I think we saw early in this particular season. The ravens were eminently capable of doing damage in of stopping people. And playing and playing well playing at a very high level in fact."
[1:20:33]" So because of that you know on the the ravens won't take much especially that's out of football to get back. To where they were. Where some goes back where you want to be. Are let's give back also to milestone for the patriots as a whole list of that I wanted to share with you today we talk about for able meeting ten saxons season set new career high and he's got nine and a half so he needs one by one half more sack on -- the first pitcher to get double digits in sacks in 95 some. Patriots need one win to become just the fourth team in 48 years -- franchise history. To win at least 12 games in the regular season. Now the other teams were 20032004 and 2006 with the -- know 14 people want 14 points. But you know all the superlatives that it happened with this franchise especially in this decade only four."
[1:21:34]" Only four. Going to win 12."
[1:21:38]" Mom Kevin Faulk need one more touchdown but on the 16 player in franchise history to record at least 25 touchdowns. -- career going to patriots uniform. Speaks to is not only is versatility speaks to his longevity. And his ability to be able to produce you know when it's money time when he got -- when he got to get the score. -- needs one touchdown pass to hit 40 on the season you become just the fourth NFL player. In history to throw for 40 or more touchdowns in a season. In any of the three when you know Peyton Manning at 49 right. So he's you know still leads -- in the match commanding 11 to pass him on the last five games but Reno at 48 and 44 Marino did it twice. He had 4884 -- 4046. And then Kurt Warner had 41 touchdown passes in 1999 he -- to join that 40 touchdown club. Randy moss needs two more touchdown receptions to set a new career high is 16. His personal best 17 touchdowns with Minnesota he did that 98 in the beginning in 2003. Once seen. Bill Belichick needs two wins to reach 200 wins in his regular season. And play up corners -- to coach and that's all the ones that I had left on my list here within one of suppressing or matching a particular record yep that's -- bomb went to there's a couple of others that are close here. Oh here's the other one that could happen this week Randy moss needs three catches. To reach 750 in his career -- he would become the 25 player in NFL history to reach 750 career receptions. That I could come down this week. Laurence Maroney needs to touchdowns rushing. He has two in the season needs to -- on the 19 player in patriots history to record at least -- rushing touchdowns in a patriots uniform. Steve just -- needs three more points to reach 200 career points in his first two years. And would not be the 19 player patriots history to reach two marker points he'd have done in two years to OJ he's benefactors of that offense right let's see what -- we have here Randy moss needs five more receiving yards. To become the fifth player in patriots history to have at least 1100 receiving yards in a season. Can you name the other four players Stanley Morgan. Troy brown -- coats. Terry Glenn -- the points he's the only one step towards. Quincy and a little bit on the outside looking in but I guess considering what he did this last weekend it's conceivable. Conceivable you're close if not match his record this week. But Wes Welker needs nine more catches. Nine more receptions become the fourth player in patriots history to record at least nine the receptions in -- season. The others do Troy brown who did it twice Ben Coates and Terry -- Troy of course had a 101 in 2001. And Lucy Kevin Faulk 11 receiving yards. -- Jones to move into 15 place on the patriots all time receiving yardage. List so these are all the numbers that would apparently be attainable in theory this week against Baltimore."
[1:25:14]" Quite a list don't think I dug -- records significant. Quite a list but you know again -- week -- why we don't come up with you know one or two things in this -- looks like there's about eight or nine things on this particular list list of achievable milestones that the patriots are approaching and so there you go some significant numbers we think about it you kind of read between the lines of this matchup with the Baltimore ravens went up on Monday night. Let's see what else we have four oh some other things -- teams superlatives right now. And both I believe Jerry sandusky in Ron Jaworski mentioned his name patriots turnover differential is plus 16. Plus 16 on the season. Leading the NFL turnover differential so that's another reason why you know the teams that are on the plus -- usually the best teams in the league. Pages of only turn the ball over nine times all year which is the lowest giveaway number in the entire league is well let's see 12 drives this season of ten or more place. The patriots have allowed this season on defects which is tied for the lowest fewest in the NFL. -- is also have a good shut out going good shut out streak strong shut -- streak going right at this stage. They have not allowed any points on opponents first possession. Of the season. All year long. -- aware of that. I was aware of that until I read this."
[1:26:45]" They have not given up -- point zero. On an opponent first offensive possession. Of the game they're the only team in the NFL right now to not allow an opponent to score on an opening drive. That's getting off to a great start and of course as you as you know pages just scored on every first drive. That the offense is bad this year so they're never playing from behind."
[1:27:11]" You can relax she can get into the zone you can you know do a lot of things when you're playing with a lead as opposed playing Vermont. As a really that's a really remarkable. Statistical advantage to the patriots have the national league gets quite enough credit for being what it is but quite frankly that is that's impressive. Very impressive. And when you consider the fact the patriots have started their drives. This year on about their own 26 yard."
[1:27:41]" And we think -- it's not terrible consider this that is the worst starting field position of any team. In the NFL."
[1:27:53]" That's for the opponent that is. The patriot opponents have started on the 26 which is the lowest total in the NFL so that's pretty impressive defensively anyway for the patriots let's see what else all I know that Brian -- mentioned this yesterday and I thought it was striking that you know in terms of the pro bowl voting that -- Chris Hansen who's you know currently leading the -- you know he doesn't technically qualify for the statistical categories but he just -- upon enough times. Which you know it was after a bizarre. But the patriots as a whole have -- only 24 times all season long amendments open note to travel this up that the fewest putts of any team in the NFL. But the next team closest to the patriots 24 parts. Copes with 35. About that 11 fewer putts than the colts this season I think that's extraordinary. So they go I I albeit some fun of those numbers quite frankly had -- them open and and several of them. I really hope shook my head wind because like he can't be right they can't be right -- begin -- it's right. Right absolutely so. Good job of the patriot appears to have come -- some numbers we can. Share that when -- inside playbook I mention also little earlier album playoff picture is begin it is hard take shape and things I mean. Obviously we're only we're and we 12 game we 12 week 13 in the NFL overall everybody having played in in going through the bye week now. And the patriots of course clinching the AFC east division title after their 11 game week 12 which ties the record four earliest clinch. Thanks to a Baltimore's on the -- to buffalo lost this past week so. Patrons are obviously in the play Elvis division champ in the post game that -- have been complete we don't already patriots certainly have everything on their side in terms of getting home field advantage throughout the playoffs which would mean. Two home games at a potential AFC championship game courses apart of that. At -- Gillette stadium come on up in January -- a lot of great things to be looking forward to and you could start to kind of focus that way now because there are five weeks left in the regular season and while. You know nobody -- hallway -- didn't start thinking about that it's a little bit more conceivable. And a little bit more pragmatic -- we start thinking about it start looking toward Ab because it's an inevitability right. The playoff picture overall in the NFC nobody is clinched yet nobody has been eliminated yet. But this weekend you've got Dallas end or greens today. Who can move into the playoffs at least become first NFC team to get in here and we retain. Of course she goes 17 which would count bye weeks are still relatively early. Cowboys clinched the NFC east title with a win and a giants' loss they do clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie. -- New Orleans loss or tie and an Arizona loss or tie. Green Bay can clinch the NFC north this weekend if they beat Dallas and Detroit loses or ties."
[1:31:01]" Green Bay can clinch a playoff berth if they win or they -- War if New Orleans looser ties an Arizona and Chicago also the -- scenarios. So Dallas and Green Bay whoever wins that shoot out on Sunday whoever wins the game will at least clinch a playoff spot. And they'll be the first team in the NFC clutch. The colts can become the next team in the AFC to clinch anything playoff wise after the patriots -- the only team that clinched in the east division. And of course with that Miami now become the first team in the National Football League out of 32. They are the first team officially eliminated from the playoffs and now they're eliminated shocking I know but it is sure mathematically speaking. Bomb the colts can clinch a -- this weekend but they need a lot of help. If you're gonna get this week in the colts need to win. Against Jacksonville lost buffalo has to lose or tie Tennessee has to lose and Denver. As to lose or tie but it all those scenarios happen in the colts clinched the spot."
[1:32:10]" They also do it of San Diego loses it ties Tennessee loses buffalo loser ties of course again beat Jackson. So it's probably not quite as clear cut for the colts to clinch a playoff spot this weekend but it is possible. Mathematically speaking and so we wanted to pass that along to you because that will probably be the play -- they will probably be a weekly staple from here on out. As it'll be closer we get more teams that are not only entering the picture but more teams that are mathematically eliminated from the playoff process. -- was in -- field -- keep everybody is active and is involved and is eligible for the playoffs as possible much what they like the parity in the league. And I would argue again that you know that's one of the reasons why in particular you know a league like the -- can thrive. On a dominant team now because people follow the dominant team in everybody loves to climb on the bandwagon of a winner. But there are just as many people out there I feel that want to see you know King Kong knocked down a peg. They want to see Goliath -- by David want to see the the big cheese fall. And so you've got. A lot of positive publicity and a lot of negativity that's going there at the same time all toward the same team to a helped galvanized interest. More than anything else. That's tally a dominant team I think can be good for particular sports -- instant patrons with a in the NFL film you know there's two ways it -- of looking at that seems to be though the way that does -- prevalent right now on. Certainly popular way of thinking that there are a lot of people there's no middle ground with -- papers answer no middle ground at all. In the -- Maria hate him maybe if you're looking at him from outside you know your your little patriot nation here. -- by the way more about the division college the patriots head -- the earliest division clinch. -- since 1970 it. Which of course the first year that the NFL established the 16 game regular season schedule. While the other teams that have clinched the division during the 11 game weekend. Umps at 78. Were all a significantly strong team the 85 bears the 97 49ers in the 2004 Philadelphia Eagles. Course the -- the suitable patriots that year but they did clincher after the 11 game or we 12 in their particular season. -- in the NFC east that year so -- joining some some rare company where early clutches are concerned since the end of the mood that 16 game regular season schedule back in 1978 hard to believe that he's been almost 30 years. 30 years 29 years actually but it's been almost 30 years since the end of the mood of the 16 game schedule. -- also out there besides me that remembers the 14 game schedule. In the six pre season games that you had to slug through."
[1:35:02]" You know I don't recall I mean I realized. A bit after about four games pre season games you know 30 years ago -- did -- little tedious but I don't recall. The six games being as tedious as the four games are now. That teams play in the precinct and wondered why is that. It's because there's so much more emphasis placed in the regular season in getting started is because there's so much more interest overall in the NFL. -- probably a little bit of both. And of the there's a lot of interest or a lot of emphasis placed on injuries and try to get into the season as healthy as possible because the game which -- gotten faster as the players have gotten bigger and stronger quicker themselves. As I think they're just more impacting injuries on war huge collision injuries. And I think therefore it's just harder to stay healthier now than it was say 20 to 30 years ago."
[1:35:55]" Because the game the way the game has just gotten faster and stronger and it's I think that it is it's all part of Alou at least a little bit but I just find that bizarre when I think about it doesn't seem like it's been that long but almost 30 years. Since we've lived in the 16 game universe and we had you know four pre season games and how many years now we've been talking about and we'll talk about it again next year shortening the pre season from before that we have now I don't ever ever see that happening ever."
[1:36:24]" It's it's free money for the owners. Fremont don't have to pay the salaries into the regular season starts the charts and ticket -- and -- for concessions. Everything it's you know it it's it's free money. You might you might see them shorten it by one then. I don't know the that'll ever happen because again you're asking the owners to give away free money I just I don't think that -- just. That we can talk about until we're blue in the face I don't think that's that that's about -- done deal not happening. Is there ever may be in the National Football League. I what else do we have four years tidbit like trying to get the block communicable moments Tom Brady a Bayliss Thomas Eric Alexander who is. Certainly -- frequently visited player by the media earlier today and yes his wells -- would because of now he is standard to see more playing time we did of course as you recall start the AFC championship game at linebacker the patriots last year. And -- stands to at least give more playing time in the rotation maligned Betancourt this year due to Roosevelt Colvin industry industry injury. So we've got derrick Alexander and I believe also Donte' Stallworth in terms of vote in trees injuries in terms of interviews while who almost up on that -- Pairs of interviews in the locker room for assorted under the get under way without hearing about five minutes in the meantime -- all the things. -- patriots this is. The first time that they have ever clinched the division title in the month of November their previous earliest clinch prior to this year would have been December the seventh. Of 2003 and they beat Miami. That your in the clinch the division title what the what would that be that would be week week 14 against problem in. You know we 14 that would be in the previous early clinch it them look at some of these numbers -- the record book in them. All right here's giving -- almost -- and again another significant -- for the -- when you compare it. -- to other teams in the NFL. You probably realized she probably already notice and yet. Into me like two like a ton of lead breaks here I'm."
[1:38:57]" Patriots are winning 84% 84% of their games since thanksgiving. From thanksgiving on since 2001 and that is by far and away the best record in the national football is not -- really close. Think about that again since 2001 on games played in the NFL from thanksgiving day on. Which is good extra month to the regular season right. Patriots are 41 and eight. That's an 84% winning percentage. And it's by far away better than anybody else it's the next closest record is Pittsburgh 33 and 1273%. Please see how far behind the -- to 84% that releases. The eagles -- 31 and 17 the colts 28 and 19. After thanksgiving. Since 2001."
[1:39:59]" Pretty impressive. Pretty impressive. So when I saw that number this -- that's when we're talking about 418 since then it took only bode well I think for not only what's going on this year but for the opportunity and the chance I think to continue to play at a high level. And also to you know challenge. 16 you know. We really haven't mentioned the phrase 16 you know law last couple weeks and think it's probably because it's been done. Quite a bit but nevertheless we really haven't taken that that the time -- the wherewithal to to discuss it and and I have a feeling that about this time next month will be discussing it big time because they'd be on the verge of getting to that point at 16 you know with the last regular season game against. On the New York Giants provided then. They can avoid the pitfalls like -- almost fell into this last Sunday. And I do believe that Baltimore potentially is one of those spots and of course next week in Pittsburgh comes in July but."
[1:40:56]" That's another one of those sponsors what the next two weeks or are big. Next two weeks of course you follow that up with the jets and Miami before wrapping it up -- with the giants but you know. The ravens are capable make no mistake about it. Any team in this league is capable of catching lightening in a bottle. Philadelphia almost did so before you proved who it and you think the ravens have no shot because they don't have an office. There's always the chance that the game could exist for the patriots turn it over. And a team puts together an effort like the eagles did against the patriots and you combine those two plus the -- being on the road and -- him. Now you got something to talk about."
[1:41:36]" So I guess the best thing here as a as a -- them as members of patriots nation go. It is good to take it wanted time it is good to perhaps respect your opponent -- know that your opponent is eminently capable of winning. Because I guarantee you guys in my hallway I think that -- All right speaking of the guys down a hallway Tom Brady. Adalius Thomas Eric Alexander and Donte' Stallworth in the patriots locker room as the preparations continue. For the Baltimore ravens next Monday night in Baltimore's saint -- time saint -- channel tomorrow right here. -- patriots dot com radio and will talk to get them right now let's get into the locker."
[1:42:20]" It's great axiom I know he's excited he's been working very very hard. For a long time and it's great to have -- available I sure hope. He makes a big impact on the team and -- there's just with his leadership and his ability to kind of bring people together and always has positive words that is great leaders your teammate in every loves having torn. -- yeah and then and he's been in in all these offensive meetings over the last. -- long as he's been going on stone even though he hasn't been on the practice field he's been. Really keep -- meetings and so forced him. I know he's really excited and he can do a lot for us you can you can perceive -- Diego played he'd be contribute on special teams he. He really does whatever whatever this team need."
[1:43:25]" Books for a team that you know really and that's similar to the eagles -- convince -- keep. Presentation --"
[1:43:33]" Yeah and and I think and they're right it -- yeah I'm playing in a bunch years. And they're very experienced and -- battle tested the best teams in the AFC last year -- that our work cut off for us it's should be a fun week a great defense we're faced him. -- led by -- much. Great players on that -- they've read and ray Lewis and throw slowed and they cannot really play court's gotten. -- it's it's very challenging defensive space so. -- know that hopefully we can present the same challenges to them but on a Monday night it's. Kinda what's with that team looks for. -- you know I think we do -- you have anxiety for every game in a locker room just before you run around you. And relief unknown you just on the games are going to go and you always hope for the best and I try to prepare for everything and really however they play whether yet. You know if you win 50 attend Akron and buffalo or. You know this past weekend where it came right to the yen. You have to really be mentally tough and prepare for -- and I -- prepare for the tough ones and that tape that confidence up. Not being as close as you expected and you do that to -- it's competitive do you. -- know what we're always expect in this. Whatever the team's best performance whatever -- keep the look of relief that's what we expect a well. He -- to adopt every -- it's going to be Belichick if you know. Yes I know he coached -- the pro -- last year and I think it's the defensive coach you look at a player like that who's. Such a game changer and a you know. He he coach Lawrence Taylor and he knew it wouldn't impact on the game points Taylor had when he was coach Dan and I think every similar in different ways but it. Really game changer and a he's just. He's the ball hawk he's covered so much ground back there he's really smart. He's really aware he's he loves football -- great qualities of a great defensive player and a I tell you better you better run after the game's over because coats is gonna try to bring him back on playing with -- because. -- Yeah we've had some games that they have -- you know on the fourth quorum and much of a game this last one. I think we've shown some mental toughness and Dallas and Indianapolis and the eagles where we've been down in the second half -- find ways to -- under pressure. And -- teams -- been a good job whether we're up out of focus in on. Doing her job and a lot of its composure and poise and tough environment your plane and -- those came from a road but the crowd's really into it and a and we found -- to support unions now. -- anyway the goals to win you know that's that's what we approach every week it isn't ready when my third year you -- three. You're trying to win the game and never was happy it. No one's asking him can be really challenge for us it's 12 you know. I'm tired of government I'd look for mentally tired face today and I think everyone's just dragon little bit. It's just she just to get home 'til two so -- and he feels like you're trying to get caught up throughout the week though. Bogut the Election Day you know come on and I came so it is real long week this week Hampshire and a four days practice and -- we can use each and every -- that to get ready for this team and -- we put our best out there. At at at at first there that. Yes it is in the end. You know you you play when they tell you play and I think most most guys in the NFL -- that you love the -- night games upon part of our -- is. You know just before the tournament. 8 O'Clock when your ready go out there and the bad part is about 1130 in his games over Ottawa. -- it's fun in my night but I think most guys would love -- put on the wine every single week and I think that gives you the most time to -- your body wrist. And your mind that you focus on. Those weeks and it. Coaches love because -- get in on the Monday night in protection data practice you. -- which a lot of older players don't like much but we kind of play one. You know we play and it -- play."
[1:48:59]" Yet -- they charge a lot of ways I think they have a may have their athletic pass rusher and then they have a bunch of different packages that they Iran with with different type D linemen that have different abilities in there. Some rest the past or some really play the run really well did you chip long yardage situations I think they're very creative with what they do. Of fun. And can't go to sleep on the mean if it one -- ideas and focus and concentrate and doing their job -- can be a negative play. And and date that he delicate real ray Lewis sort. Bart Scott Chris mcalister they're looking to make. Interceptions and not only that they're trying to return for -- though. They got a much playmaker and and we've got to be able it's focusing on every play and it surely aware of what they're doing so. We can can really stay on track. Thanks guys appreciate the Dallas --"
[1:49:55]" You have to be he goes in front and is that likely to depend on which -- you come from our. -- the best tennis but that you. Losses that I mean it is this alone I mean he's one good -- players and you know -- the guys that behind was still well and finishing moves. -- all right evidence room. We cricket if you can you know -- what. It"
[1:50:43]" I mean he's going to it is going to be threats there's that did you security your computers ago ball halt calls along the ground or you know. He he definitely. Oppose it challenge for put off season. Term hard courts are not many. How does a lot of great things ball hold these two guys come up the kitchen Mike -- president run games so along with things you look for -- look at it."
[1:51:10]" And Vegas that offense I played. That -- advantages in terms of knowing."
[1:51:18]" I'd gotten you off the corners so you're not I don't know how -- I was in there this year I don't know if they change things up. They brought in new arousal or how would and so have a different guys have different personnel though. Some of them may -- maybe -- signed -- and -- you know some of the guys that you -- you do -- on the guys. Yeah voted and I mean not necessarily because again -- is not let -- played against them and really paid attention to his.
