Blueprint -- whether or not teams are now able to it to get a real feel for how to beat the patriots based on what the eagles did this last Sunday out what every one I just wanted to kind of test the water and a couple places that I go around the Internet got a test in the how people were feeling will be worth thinking. I and I came across an interesting article today. Com from USA today I don't know of result. But Jarrett bell wrote a story -- and I don't know maybe there are I get the sense your kids just off the bat here I get the sense that there are. Writers now. Who's Pacific sole job. Is to dig up stuff. I don't know if -- specifically to dig up stuff on the patriots. Or just to stir the pot you know just to find stories that are are offbeat offset or off team you know out of the ordinary. I'm I'm or hurt because the patriots have you know this newly found bad boy image in the NFL because they're winning it. And because of the holes by gate thing I seem to think that there's national publications out there and in some probably of the of the larger dailies in this country that. Probably they -- you know one day keep signal as to what else we can find of these guys because this makes for good reading. -- makes for good story this makes for interest high interest. I can't say that a power managing editor of a particular newspaper like USA today that I wouldn't say the same thing to be honest with the because everybody you know everybody's been buzzing about -- this year with Kelly all right let's let's find stuff to you we can't continue that -- You know it makes -- popular makes -- reporters readable. Makes people buyer newspaper well okay I understand I I just wonder where do we one do we go too far. Isn't new supposed to happen that we report the news not able. Now every major publication has an investigative person. And in many of them in the sports world as well to go out there to make the phone calls to do the diligent work to you know it's you know to dig up stuff as -- I don't know if that's right or wrong it's just part of the culture now point thank. Anyway that's why we attacked the -- date GAT that he's in the just about everything that seems to happen somewhat controversial -- anyway USA today. Jerry bell I'm going to read just a couple of clips from his story today in case she did not get a chance he and then I want your opinions on this today. He says Dave Lewis Thomas -- only glanced at the large digital clock mental wall near corner doorway in the -- flock drummer with this week. The carefully inspected the designer watch on his wrist no mine isn't synchronized -- faster than that. Thomas the Swiss army knife of a linebacker in his first season what the papers after seven years the ravens is nobody's fool. It didn't take him long to realize how costly a few seconds can be in an environment where digital clocks are ubiquitous and his teammates so eager to lay down -- law. That's part of the patriots culture the players in force some of the rules. For any given meeting several veterans are poised to pounce on a teammate who might be a two -- party. Tedy Bruschi is quoted saying it's a game within a game. Clock watchers you'd be amazed at how many people can come in that door before the clock if you've got 20 seconds Levy manipulate my ten seconds we get the number. These atomic clocks around here are going to synchronized watch some of the DB's has synchronized watching I've heard where some teams let a guy walked in late. And they'll say try to be on time next time not here every want to holds everyone accountable. I -- so far. I'm into the right it's great that I think the plate the patriots players are holding themselves accountable Bill Belichick doesn't have to do that. The coaching staff doesn't have to do that. The ownership doesn't have to do that the patriots players that sell hold themselves accountable. It is not the confines of the locker room. Aren't so that's good not the wrong there right. Iowa here's what what mr. bell from USA today digs up and then we get a little -- a little -- that to it by pro football talk dot com today. And I'm curious to know your reaction -- while I've seen it second of all what your reaction to the USA today story says the collective bargaining agreement between -- players -- set limit on how much players can be defined for various transgressions. Where can be -- as much as 400 dollars a pound for being overweight but no more than twice a week. Being late for curfew late for practice -- meeting late but the bus or a late for a visit with a trainer can cost as much as 1500 bucks. And the cost for losing a playbook -- as high as 8000 dollars. Gary can we lose this split vote here by the way. On the gets VA grand right yeah exactly you don't mind them right. We could split thanks -- patriots players handled some matters themselves including punctuality. Without the issue being settled on coach bill belichick's desk. Bruschi is this became the practice about 2000. He remembers -- has departed linebacker Willie McGinest having it handed instituting the enforcement Bruce is you don't want your fines and into the head coach. All right. So far I think I'm still following here. Donte' Stallworth as your receiver in his first year with a pat after previously playing for Philadelphia to Wallace says that many to fall in line. There's a lot of credibility of the room given the three Super Bowl wins in the past six seasons in the current 11 -- a marked the gives the patriots shot. At becoming the second team in NFL history to achieve a perfect season. The quote from Stallworth is bill doesn't have many rules but his main money is put that team first. And if something does come from Teddy Bruschi Rodney Harrison or Troy brown and they've been in the NFL for a 102 years you've got to respect what they stick. I'm good umpire in this amid this now right away as the show going to drop. Well Jerry bell says and USA today some of fractions going to current practice field or strictly for specific position group. But it's been Richard Seymour is his D linemen can get hammered permit and a technical assignment. Within the defensive scheme -- the players and the coaches keep track of violations and that some of the players might remind the coaches that somebody was in the wrong gap. Seymour says it -- sees something on the film you don't want to be that guy but it's all done in good nature everybody kind of laughs about it it adds to the competitive environment. The money collected from the finds goes into a popped. Bruschi and Seymour said that is dispersed after the following game. In the defense's case the cash is typically awarded to the player who comes up what the first turn over. Socially more jokes we want to gotta be late to get that pot. -- messing up technique and practice is that the the merit more money in the pot so. In -- night's win against Philadelphia cornerback Asante Samuel returned an interception for 40 yard touchdown in the opening position again. Seymour had not -- got a nice little stash. That's his quote. Well according to the story. Players won't reveal exactly how much was in the pot last week Bruschi said that it was subject to dispute a player -- would only identify as a veteran was late for a meeting in disagreed on how much money was to be docked. Veteran players including team captains huddle and set the amount how late was well that was the dispute Bruschi said how many minutes was -- lleyton how much should be put the pot. Contentions were aired over several day it was resolved until Saturday Bruschi that you ride and -- him with a the humor or little jabs you want to keep the banter going to make sure he realizes that we all know that he wasn't there. But sends a message to the younger guys that no matter who you are what. Here you were in the league or how many years you've been here you are held accountable. Bruschi -- when he asked if he's ever been -- it. Absolutely he's -- I've been here over 12 years I've been an editor too late. For meeting at times but it's time is caught over here every clock and your -- to the same time when you step in the door if you three seconds late -- You get an eruption from the peanut gallery in your name up on the board. Asked about handle hole from Sunday Bruschi said quote it was a good pot. And then the final line of this story. One problem. It's also a violation of NFL policy but that's an issue for someone else to police. Up or not I'm kinda lightly a -- left hang in here. Then why do you do this story. It seems like you're doing the story just deported out there in public right. Her body to pass judgment. Why not continue the story and get a quote from the NFL one rockets into the story and find out how much of a violation of policy is it. By the -- what is the NFL policy that they are violating here. That's the problem that I have with mr. bell and the particular article in -- that that that is it in the paper. In USA today. Well then let's let's take this is that for pro football talk doc compliment they replaced to go to on the net -- court he it's Michael Smith oh who posted this earlier -- you posted this earlier this afternoon. As we noted earlier this week that the NFL has decided not to take any action against the Green Bay Packers. After some defensive backs offered cash rewards to the defensive line for shutting down opposing running backs. The field did however remind the Packers that such rewards are against the NFL's rules which prohibit any form of bounty. The repeat the -- question states. Clubs and players are prohibitive from offering or accepting bonuses to a player for his earned him his. -- team's performance against a particular team. A particular opposing player. Or players at a particular group of an opposing team. Well this is what Jerry bell of USA today is reporting that the patriots are violating. Violating this rule. Clubs and players are prohibited from offering or accepting bonuses to a player for his reduced team's performance against a team a player or group of players on an opposing team. Bill note of course it's a violation of league rules. Given the president that with the Packers at the patriots most likely won't face any sort of league discipline but they will be told to quote. Knock it off. What do you think. What are your thoughts. That -- should something that is in the confines of a team locker room in particular. Be you know subject to I don't know that the high and mighty hand of the National Football League. Now granted apparently the -- players don't look at this is a bounty per day and -- quite frankly I don't think it is either I don't think it falls into the category which is where I think. Jerry -- of USA today in this is the point. This is not a bounty. You don't have incentive for going out and making apply. In a sense I guess you do because they say well you've got all this money -- collect fines being late for meetings what have you. And then the first player than me you know makes apply like that. In -- create turnovers get to turn rumor is going to get the pot maybe innocence that gives them in NF. Small as it might because I'm sure that the -- overall is is not exactly you know the famous as a weekly paycheck but who knows I guess. You know if it if it adds up over a few weeks and maybe it's decent pop. But it isn't a senator gonna try to make apply but it doesn't give them incentive to want to make a -- of particular team or individually just happens to be the next team. On the schedule. So I guess that what we need from the NFL and what we really should have had happened in the story but the reporter again. Falls well short I think of you know his journalistic duty here. What constitutes a -- and does what the patriots do. Within their own you know little you know circle in the locker room does that -- rules violation. And why we dig in this why why are we asking about this anyway what was the point. First of all how does a reporter from USA -- find out about this particular bounty if that is what it is. Apparently the patriots players don't think there's anything wrong with that and that there's certainly not violating any general YL what they'd be vocal about it. If someone asked them question why else -- they describe if they were concerned. That it might be rules violation if they felt like they were knowingly. Going up against a rule don't you think they would have kept their mouth shut it I don't know what you're talking about. Upon the whole thing rather curious about the whole thing just kind of makes me feel icky. For lack of a better phrase here at the -- the whole thing max of -- Of of of just digging up dirt for the sake of dirt digging. So you know in your in your thoughts I mean if you get a chance you know look at USA today and Jerry bell as the reporter. You want to go to pro football talk dot -- and and get the shortened version of what was going on you can go to that as well and I'd be curious to know what you how you feel about this particular issue are the -- violating a rule. The following the letter of the law they bending the rules is this a ballot deeper right. I mean I don't. I think a bounty is someone who's specifically goes out to make a play on a particular person in order to -- cash reward. I don't think with a pages are doing is -- is is a bounty. I mean it's incentive to go make a play but -- that they're not aiming at against the particular. Player or team. It's just the next on the schedule so I don't understand I mean a bounty is against a particular. Person I think in this reward such as it is. Isn't set automatically like okay automatically the next play automatically explain that I explain or automatically an Eckstein. Based on my reading into what the patriots are doing in the locker room based on on on my understanding of -- all is that you know this pot and basically add up over days and weeks. Before they decide okay. Not worth going after. And so I'm sure they'll make an announcement in the locker room amongst the guys that alright you know whoever makes the first play this week's gonna gonna gonna get the -- I'm fine doesn't mean that happens every week that means you can't target a specific team -- person. Squat it's cash I just edged him boy admitted that -- may -- it's much ado about nothing. It's entirely possible but I just -- curious that. This kind of story get brought up Percival begin with. How would a guy like Jerry bell find this out unless somebody tipped him off because he's not in the locker room to know about it. Somebody had to tip the -- overall whether it was a player or another member of the media or coach or something somebody's got. It's an inside knowledge that would tip this guy off. And so he decides to do little digging he asks a couple of players he had seen -- asked Bruschi. And in -- pressure we do this to have you know fund to keep guys accountable we all know that the patriots players love accountability they thrive on it. You've heard the quotes I've given either quotes from the players guys like Donte' Stallworth and work. Falling in line Randy moss falling in line guys in the past who have fallen in line Corey Dillon they've fallen in line why. Because this team does as good a job as any in all of professional sports of holding their veterans and all other players accountable. For their actions. Our mistakes made sure absolutely heroics while -- human -- respect but. This team a system in place to make those mistakes means something. Is that a bouncy. I I just I'd I have a hard time with the word bounty as it is can it is as consists. In this particular instance I don't think that's the proper word in the -- does have ruled against bounties I don't think they have applause so much against shall we say reward. And I think there are two different things here. It's it's it's obviously I conceit. Right now I I even speak it I can see why someone can make that reach. I will give Jarrett bill that particular benefit of the doubt I can see why he would make that region trying to create the story but I want to -- somebody would -- this off to him. That this is happening. And was they were just out to get the patriots. And believe you may because the patriots are who they are. And we've seen this several times now throughout this you know so far record setting season. Some birdies out there that just is a real hater or real jealous one of the other and maybe a little bit of -- So what do you think web radio at patriots dot com again is the email address web radio. -- patriots dot com I tell you get a if you'd like you can call as well five -- 5437482. That way on the list in my talk all the time you can do -- talking 585437482 that's the telephone number you can call in and will take your phone call again coming up about 20 minutes Russell Baxter from ESPN will join us around the NFL -- in the research coordinator for -- week 13 around the league. We'll also hear from -- Brian billick. Baltimore ravens head coach today and we'll get in -- patriots locker room toward the end of the program as well what you hear from the guys themselves as they prepare for the Baltimore ravens I'm a little surprised. Little surprised. -- spread is the point am based on what we all last week -- the eagles. Now I don't think Baltimore has near the offense that Philadelphia goes. You could make an argument I suppose the Baltimore has every bit the deep -- not better than Philadelphia but certainly that don't have anywhere near the -- This game is going to boil down to a a couple of basic fundamental practices and football whether -- not patrons take your ball. That's number one. Well to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Because if they do and they give Baltimore the short field work with then -- could he word -- like Baltimore could really common reply. The Baltimore office is going to have to have help. To beat the patriots. I don't think that comes as you know brain surgery to anybody. But if you provide that often does that help and you put the deepest patriot defense on its -- Well that you could have very much another Sunday night. That's how it happens that's how works and that's really that's going to the formula B that's going to be the quote -- quote blueprint for the rest of the season against any of these tapes. You've got to give the opposing defense little help and if you do that it's going to be a game. If you take care of the ball. If you do with a -- it would they have seven possessions nine possessions on on the and they -- and I think like 73 -- play. I mean to about eight to nine plays per possession on average that's extraordinary. Miami's return enough first downs -- move the football it's an offense that's just darn near unstoppable. And as well as the defense may have played for the eagles and they ultimately did not stop the patriots regretted they held them to 24 point. Because of an obvious were scored by Samuel on the interception return. Which got -- nice little -- check that stash of cash that we are talking about but. You still wouldn't -- on. He still lost the game in the at the bottom line with the win or lose always remember how you played as his -- they're going to look back on at the end of the value lost. That's that's that's. That's it. So I'm surprised almost surprised that more money isn't moving. On Baltimore which would lower the odds in this particular instance but maybe that's because there others that feel like I do. That you know Baltimore's offense is anywhere near what Philadelphia's is. Therefore the patriots. Most likely -- gonna get back to their normal ways of doing things which gets back to my original email question today as we open up the show your have an -- on the and the thought crosses his all right do the patriots returned to their. An interest in. -- of your football fan this is that this is the thing there's plays you gotta go to beyond that do great job. And I tell you invited they they did a very good job while I love some of their stuff I don't like some of the personalities that -- to pull themselves but I guess that kind of comes with the territory. -- what you should take matters into your own hands right now. Tonight will be a good test market for what could happen in the last week of the regular season. And they wanted to pro sports teams ever. -- Scott Washington's is John one concern I have about Monday night is the Baltimore whether. Originally the forecast was for rain but not supposed to be cold and windy with wins projected to be between 16 and 24 miles per hour I'm like a meteorologist got gusts like that could interfere with the patriots passing game and that presents a wildcard to predicting this game. If they can deal with the conditions that I think the patriots do have a very good chance to win big on Monday specially a team of the week offense like Baltimore. He -- by the way I live in the DC area and I plan to attend Monday night games -- and paying close attention. The weather outlook Scott thank you appreciate that hum. If that proves to be true anyway gave in Newtown Pennsylvania. Okay and no one can beat the pants. So let's beat them down and was scrounging around for in dirt well. If I get it straight the head coach probably would have to reward the player in order to violating a rule. But I didn't hear anything you said where it was another player or group of players rewarding each other as a violation. That's actually good technicality there yet. We says so where is the fire I don't Melanie smoke here. What a joke. What the patriots players may be doing here. Is more like what the Packers did then. Say putting out a bounty on somebody's head. So I don't know why the patriots would be singled out any differently than the Packers players would have been for a similar story. And it's a very good point by you -- is it just seems to me that this year has been one of the one of defending the pass on or no matter what they do or don't do. It's getting ridiculous in the kinds of issues that are being raised by the media and fans of the football teams. A lot of the just watch the team play without all the commentary from ESPN and SI et cetera. I can only hope they do run up the score on Monday I love that stuff. Thank you for the good stuff that's that's right there. Right there on the Mark. Good perspective. I don't know what you think he still think that maybe this would qualify as a bouncing. If -- is that violating any rules as of violating the spirit of the game. Or you know let me ask you this and I am just going to I'm going to make -- general assumption here. Because I think if your football fan I mean a die hard football fan you have. Played football -- some point in time in your life. Maybe you know if your female vehemently football maybe you played other sports I'm gonna I'm going to suggest. That not everyone not all but the majority of football fans. Have played sports before the younger for recreational what have you gone out even -- That being. You do things all the time for incentive. You know you talk about it with your your teammates -- your friends or what have you and they have some if you if you make this play you know I'll buy you a beer at what are they of that kind of stuff goes on. All the time. So why shouldn't the guys in the hallway. In the locker room -- always have the same right to have that kind of fun as we -- Why shouldn't because it's a business. Well okay I loved to have somebody try to explain that him. Well why should they be regulated for every little thing they do want what all we're really do it is kind of sucked the fun and the enjoyment of the game. Like I said it's up to a team to self motivate. What you're doing here is it it is if you're if you're -- in force things like this particular issue with the patriots in the this so called them incentive clause. A bomb. What you're doing is you're taking away. The few opportunities that teams have to gain edges for themselves why would you want to -- a bunch of mindless drones. Playing out on the field participating on the field. You don't why would you. Personalities what -- again I've said this a couple of times this year I've said it more than a couple of times and I'll continue to say dynasties are good. For for sports. Pick a sport. I'll give you a dynasty and I'll tell you whether or not it was it was good or bad I guarantee every instance will be good did the Yankees it's good for baseball. I'm not like the Yankees put it's good for baseball as a sport why because you either love them or you hate them. But you don't ignore him -- The year I mean the very fact Gary that you brought up the Yankees tells me that you know your fixated on the Yankees. And so because of that well you know that's good for baseball but as the Yankees have a -- a baseball. It creates interest. That's what it does he keep interest use the Rangers did and then how much more they can win. Or you registered them because you want them to get beat a bad you can based. Dynasties are good for sports. And the patriots dominance right now is good for the NFL just like John just like the Packers of the 60s. The Steelers of the 70s the -- of the 80s and the cowboys of the of the 90s and 2000. That it it did it they're absolutely absolutely good. For the sport. That's why college football seems so much better win Notre Dame is good. Win the traditional powers like Nebraska and Oklahoma and USC in Alabama teams like that. -- good every year and college football seemed to be missing a little something when the dynasty when the teams that have the reputation the big timers aren't good. Emotional some. Mean face -- we don't wild and wacky year in college football this year. One that is crazy is I can ever remember recovery and being a part of and I realized to many people that wonderful thing that's a great thank you just don't know on any given week galliano and that's good stuff. We would have had more order to that to the season. Without a doubt had there if there were a dominant team in a one of those -- teams happened to be a big game program. Right now you've got two teams that have never played in this rarefied air. The jury still has to get by one of those dynasties Oklahoma. And they can do that this weekend the -- torture have a chip then Missouri gets put all the marbles. So you know I just. I'm thinking overall that just because the dynasty situation because teams dominant teams are good overall that you know this is just part of the process that. Teams are going to take potshots at -- And take potshots at any team that wins an -- teams -- potshots at the at the Yankees all the time. Teams take pot shots in and have taken -- years at the Celtics -- it and it lost it it it lost its fun of several years ago in the pit on the Celtics started going downhill the fact that they have won a championship in 21 years now it's -- like are I'd been there done that and and there's a whole generation of basketball fans the don't know about the Celtics dynasty. They don't remember. And they've never in their lifetime have the Celtic or at least in the conscious like I'm. Ever had the Celtics is one of the good teams now of course they were in the Eastern Conference finals a few years ago but I mean even then I think. Even longtime observers realized that you know they weren't going anywhere. But now that their back this is kind of nude people."

And of the last time these two teams played was a November the 20 of 2004 almost three years today. Which was a point 43 win the pass over the ravens here at Gillette stadium. Now the patriots have. But when you look at how these teams stack up they stack up very comparable lead with their two deep and yes the ravens are hurting in the secondary without a doubt. But overall. The two teams are comparable pitchers are third in total leap into the NFL the ravens are fourth. In rushing defects patrons are fifth in the NFL the ravens are third. In the NFL past the fan is the one area in which the patriots might be able to exploit. To either real intrigue here is the rotation but they got a couple I think -- the Packers defensive line which goes six or seven deep now big bringing a lot of fresh guys. Very -- for people thought -- go to pro bowl -- it was spooky he might even have a better year this year he is a real sat on the defensive end. That is Colin -- this is a great battle outrageous tonight think that's going to dictate what exactly al Harris could do with parallel."

Play from 1:12:07[1:12:07]" Certain -- That's I'm definitely important. On for Sunday's games a couple of that kind of standout to me number one a little bit under the radar I guess it's only because both teams struggled of late. Particularly Tennessee but Tennessee playing at home against Houston. The survivor of this in the winner of this was still is very much in the thick of things I think for a wild card spot the loser. Well if it's used in their -- on if it's tennis eight. They're probably don't because it would be what four losses general I guess for the titans."

Play from 1:12:37[1:12:37]" It doesn't let things like -- the week. Comes from and it wouldn't Albert hanging his work and a -- would work he's worth about a hundred yards a game rushing. In the first eight games of the year the titans were only given up 66 yards per game of a grant. In their last three games with him out a lineup job. Once 66 and 166. Once 48 well in three straight losses now. We all point of Vince young and you know they don't necessarily live and die with coverage on played because statistically. Not had a great you're taking care of the football not been overly productive but the deep -- all market this team in the last couple weeks without him without Albert pains were they get their lunch head tilt and it's so obvious what's happened because teams are exploiting them right up the middle. You mentioned he said that's great -- like the Houston Texans are five and six though they only won six games last year they're hoping the better that. But who they play this is not necessarily in order. But who they played the last five games I think -- a determine a lot of playoff spot. They play all three of their divisional -- once again. And by the way other six losses three of -- come to their divisional foes they also played -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the Denver Broncos want to lose that first place what do we gave out of first place whether detected baker not I think they could they realistically have a shot at seven an -- they they might want to be the best last placed team about media who beat last place teams but one way the other. I think airport performance is going to dictate the play off field idea sit."

Play from 1:14:20[1:14:20]" Yeah I guess you would that would certainly be the case. Bombed the big game I think that a lot of people be given their at least half an -- on would be Jacksonville at Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon with the colts nine into -- Jacksonville having an opportunity now to catch. The colts I don't know that they do but I was impressed -- Jacksonville last week."

Play from 1:14:39[1:14:39]" Yeah I get kind of more impressed by them weekly and it to -- this as a team. Backstreet it was so erratic on deep -- to. They would have their great games and then -- mystified losses even lower early this season member of opening day gave up 282 New York Russia at home to Tennessee -- decked out pretty good for team that was so you know formidable upfront. The other road few weeks later even though playing better -- free throws for 445 yards against her defects so. Their defense which is the hallmark of the team has been a bit erratic but I think they're getting better offensive line like the quarterback David Cortes got thrown -- interception. Fred Taylor's about the cracked the top 20 archers of all time and it still way to go to was first global which is an amazing piece of information seeking to -- Jones Drew for people who didn't realize how good of football player George -- is one only had the look at him docking -- very bad. Back a couple of yards a couple weeks ago when they play to chargers and arguably the best most memorable block of a year but what's interesting that the colts is this in years past where is -- to build the muscle team. And the colts have always been that the best team. The colts now play more likely Jacksonville Jaguars. And I think -- or -- stop but I doubt that gore gore got hurt in the first meeting but their defense really never sold. Indianapolis is running gain in balance but the played on Monday Night Football. The big thing with the cold that you love always. -- healthy bodies -- to get back this week right and this was their big opportunity could member. They were getting can be -- because they played on thanksgiving night and that they had this time ready get ready for the stretch -- we don't play treaty coming back. But it seemed like the pretty comfortable with their defensive line that they just put Simien -- go so. Indianapolis can really put stranglehold the division with a win here but. I think Jacksonville's growing up a lot John from the team that was kind immature last year that I noticed that it a couple of the games they won -- the backup quarterback quick break what did -- to pick a winner here this is I think it can be a real real physical slugfest up in the RCA delve into far from a a lock of the colts making it sweeps this year I'm."

Play from 1:17:08[1:17:08]" I really believe that is going to be as simple as the -- front load up the box and make her art beat them over the top that's that's really where."

Play from 1:17:14[1:17:14]" I think they'll look at and I hated it it talking waited a good friend -- because that the all secondary of the colts. Who've gotten much better take a way to football I think gore will get his first interception okay -- never will be multiple. But coach Joseph Addai. Is big powerful writer and even though I think people who witnessed our he reminded subways over -- Jones true even over restructuring is a little stock you're. And I think quicker but just -- that a guy means a lot of that offense but we see them -- it can't keep when necessary and so. Depending on that helped a bit Indianapolis offense applied -- to -- obedient parakeet it is."

Play from 1:18:01[1:18:01]" And bomb with a couple of others that double touch on his briefly. Giants playing at Chicago and I bring at a ball because the giants -- thinker last week. Obviously isn't talk about maybe the giants heading into a second half of the season wound. Like they did last year obviously there's still the patriots schedule yet ahead Chicago's desperate for some kind of consistency. And if the two meet here who knows where these two teams could go Chicago wins and New York loses."

Play from 1:18:27[1:18:27]" Well we I'm sure people remember last year's game -- Devin Hester returned that this field goal yup for a touchdown which but that's old -- now you know 108 yards big deal we've -- 10809 -- play this year a lot of but the bears defensive shell of it's former self they need Devin Hester in the worst way to spark their offense they got Rex Grossman back in there he still has that turnover bug. I know you are getting -- miserable day and I'm sure you know there were plans to have him. Killed you know for lack of a better word I gonna be killed -- Let's see it because with a couple more times but I think the fact remains is that that's what you get a different -- I mean that you're going to get your occasional stinker assortment. Okay I think you're going to heaviest pro league games on occasion I think he's going to have a -- games indication I think that's just what he is until he. Becomes just that your quarterback and the timetable different from everybody oh for everybody I expect the giants -- doubt they have to built back this year I simply to get a better football team I think corporate affairs is still kind of at --"

Play from 1:19:36[1:19:36]" BS Sunday night game -- Cincinnati Pittsburgh I'll bring it up here because Pittsburgh obviously is on the patriots schedule in the next week as well. Cincinnati bounced back with a big win and I think some at least some of the people that I talked to this week. I kind of think that Cincinnati might be prime here to kind of put a little on at the end of the season may be too little too late for the playoffs but Pittsburgh you know -- Shall we say lackluster three nothing win over Miami in the -- this past Monday night being a short week for them I don't know what do you think."

Play from 1:20:05[1:20:05]" Well on the if you just take kinda take a look -- what it happened with the Pittsburgh offense a wide and -- pass protection the last. Couple weeks I don't some people noticed that they beat the jets felt the blueprint on how to get Roethlisberger but actually started a week before that let's throw out three. Very interesting number -- yeah. Couple weeks ago the -- came into their game with the Steelers they had seven sacks and 18 not exactly the fearsome foursome. They got a lot of mercker four times. The week after the -- game any game with nine sacks and nine -- they accept it. Last month a result that came up with 12 seconds ten games they got -- Them that's a lot of -- okay that's 16 sacks the last three games since they'd get -- potent pass rush but when you're not protecting your quarterback like that. That's what's going to happen and the Steelers. There's this still this aura and I keep want to hear the word power running game. They don't have a power running game I still think Derek -- you don't look like they were headed about. Setting up. Run -- setting the past with -- they look like they're getting to that they certainly -- do that last week out last week's game was an abomination don't get me wrong okay there was absolutely terrible but the offense is really struggling to protect their quarterback and -- they get an issue dealt with Cincinnati about -- Cincinnati's -- in Pittsburgh the last two years this is become a rivalry with the road team wins. Since then he certainly has patella the big things -- I think you know Chad Johnson. Has had some really good games against the Steelers on occasion and but T. J. Houshmandzadeh but the guy -- was really frustrated Pittsburgh the last few years."

Play from 1:21:58[1:21:58]" And my guess would be that he'll have an opportunity to do so on Sunday night I I don't I don't go as well so."

Play from 1:22:04[1:22:04]" Yeah I don't need a little banged up a lot of this will depend on protecting Carson Palmer Tom Carson -- put up this year decent numbers but he also had games where he's thrown the ball number couple weeks ago it's cart policy and four interceptions reading Antrel Rolle to that was returned for touchdowns. The penalty away. Carson Palmer was a penalty away from being do you like getting two weeks ago. Of course we -- they -- Carson Palmer effigy and -- like we do that he like panic right but he with a penalty away from joint fourth pick -- haven't really returned for touchdowns which is what happened that you like an only."

Play from 1:22:44[1:22:44]" Right that brings back full circle -- the -- in the ravens on Monday that the ESPN game and you know I mentioned earlier here in the program Russell that you know before the season started when you play the you know win loss win loss game on the schedule."

Play from 1:22:57[1:22:57]" Yes they did indeed very good despite. Certain Sports Radio station which I won't mention -- go ahead."

Play from 1:23:03[1:23:03]" Absolutely but you know what here's the thing everybody. I'm I'm I'm willing to wager here that most everybody had this is an L for the patriots who --"

Play from 1:23:13[1:23:13]" Well given what we saw the end of the year last year yeah I had the very least there I would say the very least pick up because these 13 I don't think. I don't think the patriots defense gets enough credit sometimes for being as physical as it is and I say that only in the light of we have such this. Aura of the Baltimore defense being the most physical in the lead or one of the most physical -- so other physical -- senses when they line up against them. Kinda get. Short changed for lack of a better word. It -- deep sense you know played much now we would seek additional few cracks the last few weeks and last week game against Philadelphia area directly. But in terms of physical play. That's kind of disappeared from the -- secure job I know Bill Belichick spoke glowingly agreed. And he -- dynamite year not only. Well that's safety. But that return the -- first touch -- this year. Any opener of course -- also called the the ball upon return touched nobody nobody capable the last I. But directly at the mystique of the ravens and what they do to you and it's surely disappeared. And I I finally arguably it did -- a -- do would rather defense special teams are going to be able even score -- this week."

Play from 1:24:42[1:24:42]" And I think -- whether that happens. In all honesty is if the patriot shoot themselves in the foot somewhere."

Play from 1:24:48[1:24:48]" yeah. Yeah I did I I could agree with you more I just I'm just having a tough time envisioning the Baltimore offense. And how they're going to make any day. -- because. Sure Willis McGahee could get it sure -- but where is going -- the short passing game going to come -- it's not like you can necessarily attack. You like -- attack that we went intermediate not deep okay. More complete get beat deep threat on occasions but. Worried that intermediate threat you know it let's start it is a 100% healthy play good so they don't really have this. They don't really have this outlet passing game tickets or quarterback out of trouble you know they beat them. And an -- passing game. Getting it. Those you know guys like that -- the patriots linebackers is the way you go after doing what but you know this semblance of offense. Or lack of offense that Baltimore had these days. Is bewildering time it I don't look at the year they want to Super -- I don't think what 21 consecutive quarters without scoring a touchdown which was my -- league I think. They want to win the Super -- later that year but their offense this year not only is it. Nonexistent this mistake pro and those are two deadly combination."

Play from 1:26:12[1:26:12]" You know all all told I would have to agree with you but that's concerned this from could be ugly patriots are doing what they should be doing. Mom Russell thank you so much as always all I had one more question -- what are. Do you think the overall effect of Roosevelt Colvin -- on the IR -- that this team."

Play from 1:26:30[1:26:30]" Well I think it'll it'll lessen that it affected the patriots have so many. Intermediate and interchangeable parts but it -- capable of better word. It hurts less than it would other teams but it wasn't like where's the vocal which just a role player this year. But they'll find a way -- figure out you know they've they've -- burnout particularly Troy brown the linebackers played everything else for that team."

Play from 1:26:59[1:26:59]" They'll get you you know it's true political hide evidence title on the line implement outside linebacker when they could publicity they could play listen don't spell check you don't buy it buy play or fight to. Shawnee of this large group of friends and he no longer hung out -- these friends so you never know where this came from. That's what central role told the Associated Press. Of course that goes right up against and contradicts what to the Miami police are saying that they have no evidence right now no leads. And their thinking at least they're quoted as saying that this was a random event. The Miami police spokesperson Robert parker said we have no reason to think this was anything other than a burglary or robbery involving an intruder. Period and no suspects. Interest in store and when you at what ray Lewis had to say into the mix -- it it just gets curiouser and curiouser does not. Patriots that injury report for week 13 is out Kevin Faulk again did not practice today. But with his thigh injury although he is quoted several sources including the Boston Globe that he hopes to still play. -- on Monday maybe the extra day will do him some good here. A look at it and he made the point that in the last game against the eagles he felt like -- took some plays off. On the backside and it's something that you know I couldn't have spotted in looking back over the game myself -- I'm curious one if you are that. And two if that's something that in 98 was something that you had to look to look at maybe be concerned."

Play from 1:49:27[1:49:27]" Yeah replica patriarchate that's about it just so past. That 98 -- and that'll be all time scoring record and bill this this team running high level of efficiency. I think that type thing is overblown. If you -- stick a Polaroid snapshot of any player at any given time you could probably find in instance. Player baby was not 100%. Beetle focused more -- off the ball I mean this topic is okay and so if you choose to isolate those things I'm sure you could find it but I don't put much --"

Play from 1:50:12[1:50:12]" right you mentioned earlier about things had been really gone as well as you like them out -- club this year that being case. Playing the patriots obviously there's a lot out of state perfect record I mean does that give you guys any extra motivation not that you need any but that this is some somewhat I mean I know you're not officially out of the playoff picture -- I mean this is almost you almost treat this game like the intensity of a playoff game."

Play from 1:50:41[1:50:41]" Well you know that intimate that the other games. You don't treat them -- games going forward. You might not -- same way you go to pasture -- it could be a trust of course which wrote player right now plus plus play the best -- not. We've had difficulties injuries some of the things we have a call but what's the value -- playing someone that's that struggling or. You know let's let's play the best -- about it and to all the due on Monday night the whole World -- it would agree it certainly gave my players focus this week. It's not going to be an issue the next two quickly England Indianapolis and -- just kind of challenge that you want to have your team -- the position we are right now you've got to find challenge -- to find out more patient and these these two teams sure exactly which we need right now as odd as that sounds. -- first got."

Play from 1:51:38[1:51:38]" Speaking you vote motivation and you you you probably had been asked this question few weeks ago partly Baltimore there in Cuba how did you interpret the comment by Dale's house of Sports Illustrated when he was comparing. The ravens and the patriots how things are differently at each place"

Play from 1:51:59[1:51:59]" you know I don't pay much attention to it's Ortiz. You know it was a big part of what we do that we all have a huge huge -- set warriors big part of community. And -- he was very appreciative of the things done for him here it's always a little. Disconcerting sometimes when players would inevitably will cool way need to. Two grabbed a 32 sound -- for whatever reason they choose to. You know and but it is what it is I didn't see it I don't pay much attention to it and understand the nature albums types of things are set and which is too soon verdict to keep my. Play from 1:53:01[1:53:01]" Competitiveness between. Players make comeback go back to where they weren't so I don't know. I've got your approach that they -- two months younger than you talk about competing in trash talking and but he still you're brought it up to go to compete against your brother I think personally open that would ever set up emotions more. I don't pay much attention to it there's there's the NFL. There's the challenge the competitiveness the camaraderie relationships. And then there's all that stuff that you guys to and they seem to be very separate times players get on into and I think the performers what the players stay focused on in an -- focus."

Play from 1:53:45[1:53:45]" it to a few more quick -- that that 98 vikings offense versus the patriots offense can you just compare and contrast to the in terms like -- all the way. You know an idea and went about things in the way -- patriots and go their similarities -- these two really didn't."

Play from 1:54:04[1:54:04]" What factors it is very mean that was a very very talented group in 98 a magnificent job but just try to stay out of it. And letting them let that talent cup before receivers the outside to the depth at running back approximately -- corporate tie it and we had 31 round draft -- offensive -- Randall Cunningham did -- magnificent job managing that team as well distinct difference certainly has talent but Tom Brady you can't help but -- obviously impact and -- we alluded to that earlier but Tom Brady it's out of it again and kind of perverse sense I actually enjoy watching film Tom Brady because these planes as an efficient. Lewis game decider perceive -- quarterback position -- from a from a coaching artistic standpoint -- operate at all -- With Tom Brady. That doesn't minimize or. -- diminish what they're doing scheme wise what player wise but it's it's amazing to watch him operate it and and that's going to be the challenge"

Play from 1:55:16[1:55:16]" it would. Your first quarters have been tough patriots first quarter as an overwhelming how important is just getting through the first 15 minutes going to be on Monday night."

Play from 1:55:27[1:55:27]" They -- played great team like that. That that's going to be very we can't turn the ball beat the patriots certainly don't -- short field to continue to do what they're doing and that's been that's darknets you know we don't turn the ball over. We've we've done some pretty good thanks but we turned the ball parties at short he'll take ourselves away missed one opportunity after -- it is hard to win as is evidenced by our. Record it's that that obviously something that this has to be afforded but by the same token you you can't play game. -- sole purpose. Being to not turn the ball you have to be more aggressive but that's exactly what do it try to make this top of the patriots we can't you know report and -- defensively offensively special teams too much pressures we can't on this team that you have"
