[0:00]" Let's go let's go out -- and I'll -- want to go odds and quiet. -- one -- excuse patriots plate we'll go back got combat on. Breaking down last Sundays game -- look at her man coverage. Around the neck and -- get ready for the great. -- do -- Great at the rest of the 2000 and that. And some of the points separate between. Got -- out intermittent -- Let me show all."
[0:46]" you big big ski jacket. -- he'd be ski cap maybe student up."
[0:57]" A -- looks like we're timberwolves no one Sunday yes indeed. Here you read about going to have just posted on yeah it's going to be a lot of going to be a lot of -- we look at -- the play book or Wednesday here game we fifteenth and number fourteen for the patriots. It is jets' week. And it is of course the well you know revenge what everyone is a game against the jets although I know that the players are doing their best to sort of downplayed them this week we. Talked about already we will but we hear from players in the locker room little bit later on in the program but. Just in light somebody beat the new items that are becoming known to some of the media reports throughout this -- patriots -- let me sort of -- all but aside for just -- moment. And say isn't it wonderful."
[1:53]" that we actually now have a bonafide rivalry. Going I mean there's you know you talk about rivalries and we thought about the rivalry between that the patriots in the colts and how the patriots and colts. Early this year may be supplanted that the cowboys and Redskins as the new in the rivalry in the national football -- really haven't had a good one sense that the cowboys and in the Redskins I think probably back in the seventies and in in early eighties. And yet even the patriots and colts to an extent they'll pull -- aside of course -- The fervor lacked the hatred. That that the cowboys and Redskins did. Even though yes I think you'd have to say that is a rivalry symbol because either team can beat either side and we've seen that over the last few years. But this matchup between the patriots and the jets now not so much rivalry at this present moment. Maybe except for a in in in passion only because the jets three intent. But in and because we're to be true rivalry and you realize you have to have. One team capable of beating the other -- of time now of course you will recall that the jets didn't beat the patriots. At Gillette stadium a year ago and in fact the jets and Eric Mangini reveled. In that win a year ago on in Indy came as a surprise to a lot of fans not just patriots fans. And so in that regard that game probably served as the catalyst for what's going on right now. It'll do we know of course that it would appear that you know during that regular season game -- of that one. During the playoff game which the -- came back in and got beat by the patriots. That there was a jets employee doing the very same thing for the patriots that the patriots did under the jets. Earlier this year that is videotaping someone who was expelled from the stadium and get the details are not exactly clear based on. All the reports in Newsday and getting some of the things on pro football -- dot com and if some other items that are out there in and amongst the various Internet sites in trying to research isn't -- people and in his Fred Mitchell while ago you know these guys talked about a little bit yesterday. Bomb I am. Kind of looking at it from a little maybe a little bit different perspective here today -- the fact that number one it certainly doesn't. It doesn't make with -- Paige did right and I am not about -- However what it does say is is a discussed with Fred curse just a little while -- couple months ago if you're just so log on the fact that. If there's any truth to this at all and then after the patriots decided just to squelch it. Feeling like you know it's not going to go anywhere or maybe the patriots knew that this was a practice they did as well have they brought it out in the -- kind of flight in themselves on this thing which certainly plausible scenario then to have Eric Mangini or Mike had a bomber whoever from the jet service the whistle blower in all of this. -- just really smacks of pure and adulterated betrayal especially this -- and I realize he doesn't work pets anymore but that you can understand it will be -- perspective -- on why maybe the handshakes at midfield and post game or is cold. As they are. I mean let's face it. If your best friend policy your right hand person. At at work right someone who you really depend upon to get the job done day in and day out right so when you've trusted company secrets with. All of -- up for another opportunity you're not going to stand there like right. But the other opportunity happens to be -- chief competitor of the business that you -- and then all of a sudden you learn. That you person did your friend your cold or your confidant has leaked company -- company secrets. It to your competitor. In an effort to gain an advantage on you to use the kind of person who saved them. -- to begin with and trying to use it to their advantage in order to big you. Well then obviously you get a I think a clearer picture of what this particular scenario really is all about. You know in so to that end that's a little alarming. That this whole if we look at it on the surface just the service now. Honestly again I I go through this based on on on the fact again as I've always said and I will continue to maintain the answer is always somewhere in the middle. It's never one extreme or another but just based on what we know on the surface. Without diving into the nitty gritty details here. Based on the service of this story I I am from little shocked. This is a you know I mean this is a fraternity. Coaching is returning the NFL as a fraternity. And yes they're going to try to beat the pants off of everybody else that's what being in this fraternity news. And sharing company trade secrets is it for Bolton it's just not it it's. It's not within the spirit of the law now obviously the law is subject to conjecture. With the that was told everyone that now on in his no longer able to subject to conjecture at this stage. But I wonder honestly if Eric Mangini did this in an effort to. Gain favor or get an advantage or they all's fair in love and football LO Warren football that particular instance to do that to Belichick who gave him his start. And then launched him on his path that it too where he is now I am I'm stunned. That the win at all cost scenario. Is is great as it is maybe I'm even a little naive I'll certainly admit that at this stage of the game. I mean I'm for competed. And you know I have friends you know competing radio stations television stations different entities and certainly I've friends who -- broadcasters. You know for teams throughout the Big East you know where I work. And we're friends but you know they won the game starts I want my team -- up on his team just like he wants his team to -- might think it's only natural it's much more fun. Make your job much more easy and exciting when your team a successful. Same -- here. And so you can still shake hands the game is over and be friends I firmly believe that I believe that every day. Every day. Everyday -- got a game I live that the only way that it wouldn't work as if you were doing television in your split Oregon available when your team broadcaster your team journalist it's different. He justice you live you meet you breeds you right you broadcast you talk about these guys that you cover. And you know hey I'd be like me you know saying what wanted to play right down the middle of the road here between patriots in the Jetsons look at this game on its merits well that's kind of stupid it's kind of silly. You know I worked for the patriots. Doesn't mean that we can't be objective and our opinions but over the patriots I want them to do well makes our job that much more fun around here. So when you know. I just I I guess I guess I just am naive that it has to be it I'm just a little foolish in thinking that. You know trade secrets remain trade secrets that you just don't spill their guts. When he -- to somebody else and that's apparently what has happened within the jets organization. Maybe in an effort to win favor with -- new employers Eric Mangini spilled his guts and they said her. Well that's kind of cool let's use it against them. He -- can't do what goes around comes around. And of course everybody seemed to think that -- around part. That happened this Sunday however the -- may have a distinct something to say. Up comes round part because that we do get an ever ready upwards of one to two feet. As I'm going around on the various with other sites -- dot -- was saying that weather channel saying that earlier a couple of other rom. What the reporters listen to some of the local people around here are saying that -- the -- projects. Directly toward the land it rather then heading up maybe towards the -- in the islands in the ocean. We could get black with one to two feet he could be true nor'easter the likely scenario is announced -- looks like it's gonna track a little bit out toward the east. And I'm not a meteorologist known to play one on the radio but you know the fact is that the miserably before then we kind of get it would get we get hit -- but it wouldn't be. You know I don't think you would be you know a foot it might be you know six inches and a lot of slot thereafter so we'll see what happens. But that's what we have to look for -- so you know yesterday we were talking -- when we're -- do you from mom New York we talk a little bit about. Why would be the better. -- what would be the better scenario -- 72 to three or 63 to thirteen game or 38 nothing. And I think -- of them the votes that we head. In -- 38 nothing was the more it was a more popular choice simply because you shut out the other guy and when you shut somebody out you shut them up. I mean that's that's the punch in the notes is what -- shut out and that's the one thing that this patriot team really doesn't have this year. They don't have a dominating defensive effort they have -- punched somebody in the -- defensively but haven't kept them out of -- overall the scoreboard. And so navy. It away maybe this sort of plays into their in their favor. Because it's going to be very hard I think for anybody to score the wind -- swirling. And were already looking at is I'm looking at the weather forecast looks 125 to 35 mile per hour winds on Sunday. We've -- 34 with driving snow. I'm going to try to play football game at 1 o'clock eastern time in the stuff. So that's the case we're going to find out once and for all of whether or not the patriot -- on the football. We're certainly going to find that out because it seems to me that may be the only reliable way and maybe even that won't be reliable simply because. You just don't know on -- it's going to be -- it will be rough it will be slick it will be cold will be slippery. Balkan in the on the ground. So there's the that this is a this is unique -- scenario coming up this weekend there's no doubt about it you've got this whole article maybe the jets. Did the patriots in the -- did the jets first. As a new York new media is reporting allegedly. And of course the jets are denying it patriots have no comment or concentrating on this game which is why it's understandable that's what they should they should rise above it. But it presents an interesting a case study in really what it's about to be competitive in what it's like to be in the middle of a rivalry and so we're taking this rivalry now to a different level. It's still rivalry even though the jets are not good this year because the jets have recently beaten the patriots they beat them in a hole 123 games ago. Between the two sides so certainly the jets are capable but we've got I think true dislike. The one ingredient that most rivalries really. You know you say it's right well it's great but is there hatred is there emotion is their businesslike. For the other side and -- you can answer yesterday at. The natural rival. We got a good contest to -- don't have that doesn't mean that bad game if you don't have that emotional factor you know play into it but the jets and the patriots now has. You know emotion and add to that of course albeit ever the president New York versus New England scenario. And you've just got the makings of one doozy of arrival. And so now you begin to understand some of the mindset of why the patriots fans in particular you more -- them of course. Are of no swirling about our like a pack of sharks swimming in the water. Waiting for that first sign of blood to drip in the -- going to be old Everett. It read it it it certainly stands to be a unique scenario on Sunday by adding all this into the equation. I don't think in in this his full Wright said this yesterday on the program. I did not think that this is going to be a sixty semi and a new you know close to nothing out like most people were hoping for I suppose as -- yesterday before I even learned about the possibilities. And I still think that even the case today who wouldn't get some thoughts now from Boston."
[14:46]" Only because she was the senior editor for and a little luck would -- here it's not play book the great to visit would be again thanks for the time. What do you think about this whole scenario that perhaps the jets did the patriots with the patriots got flagged it for doing to the jets in maybe did it as early as last year."
[15:05]" I know I don't understand it's good. I think in some regards did. It takes the -- to the post I'm guessing you know the patriots don't want to see it -- which is -- Rivera that you -- and he wouldn't see none -- and -- this is what they did -- we didn't she would know better than -- that's all that's sort of -- stuff that I think it is -- coming and so I think at the end of the day it's interest I think it's it's probably not -- a whole lot of the discussion we're going to give it."
[15:41]" Yeah well I think it's interesting only the fact the patriots got flag with the on president penalties in yet. You know they chose to -- signed up apparently or the jets transgression a year ago when you know the jets decided to blow the whistle over the patriots transgression this year."
[17:03]" I don't -- and that's yeah not me yeah that's true an instance we may not now and then and I just that to that point you know I would find out what I would ask you know what I want the NFL actually -- because -- is that the temperature reported a year -- it's --"
[18:33]" Yeah that's assumes -- away team that this kind of working out because if this is the case secret certainly -- the upper hand is certainly in terms of -- in losses in performance this year -- I. Time will back on the you know that it certainly plays into -- I was gonna target but here added to to open a program today in terms of the fact that the patriots and the jets now -- moving into AA. That we just don't see a lot of other maybe not even enough -- in the NFL that is one of the pure rivalry when you actually including motion and maybe even a little dislike -- hatred. In the mix."
[19:09]" And I think that's what makes for a great rivalry I think you have to have been -- animosity and even if it doesn't even if it comes from something other -- that the world -- ones may have been enhanced our -- enhancement should they now may have been most of my hands the whole stallion playing I think. That it's -- much help from both teams to go -- games -- each other -- and showing on the field -- and -- about how -- you -- carried -- I don't look at this little -- competitive -- into the game sort of -- but I also think that you know maybe we -- is not sure enough so that is in -- from this -- if we want to -- then and I think that's what makes -- so yes all of us -- love of the game -- the thought that everybody's playing for something other then -- that the fact that they have to because that's how they get --"
[20:06]" Right so. Now we're going to add a little something else to this makes for Sunday fact that we might have a blizzard in New England have out."
[20:15]" Yeah I you don't my contract and -- supportive of the nor'easter that's been talked about it wow. I thought I was I was -- was -- where of course for the global game against the raiders idea was one of them prefer we know all the reasons why would most unforgettable but. That itself wasn't worth something that made it in my memory something that I -- I'll never forget and now that wasn't I mean it was a it was a pretty good storm and it wasn't something and -- outside a lot in the game and watching players makes no angels in the field but this action if it doesn't -- comes to. Flew attitude to the -- I don't know what you got there and I I just charter trip to think about you know game being played under those circumstances but great isn't football and they do play in the style so."
[21:09]" They certainly do so in and here's I guess the whole point because. The patriots in terms of their friends in particular have been just you know. Woman trying to end the analogy them it was their like they're like sharks and -- to win the first sign a blood in the they're gonna just drop in the going to get after it and in the in the venomous going to come out and that's what people think it was going to be sixty something than nothing to have a game. Has always been a great equalizer especially when two teams are not even. On the field as apparently these two teams are not so. It was -- a chance for the jets -- play it close but maybe even with this game it's plays in their favor."
[21:45]" I think you're right about the agenda and it and it doesn't make an interest that you could make what we thought would lead you know albeit old dude -- hope keys it's over before they even start -- the game turn into something more interest thing because all -- although -- and having watched -- New -- performed -- amazing. Kaman getting out I know they haven't had to do it under real brutal weather conditions so far I don't know I -- part of me that's still -- this tour and they are well good for both teams. First goal to have that. You know little little wedge because look they haven't talent totally different without a whole lot faster than you have a better receiver than you and you can't cover me when the ground this is -- idea that you still might not be able to cover me multiple -- Russian church."
[22:40]" Now now that's possible. And I guess were only going to learn once we get the players on the field we kind of do this I just. Seem to think that this could into being an equalizing factor and of course if you go patriots from a strictly X and situation. The one thing the difference that the tens at least and maybe some media. Still -- to doubt about as the patriots running game and whether or not they have the ability to run the ball when they really needed to on the ball they haven't needed to yet and I'd need two on Sunday."
[23:07]" Nomar and I have I have I think they can when they need to but that's good that global unique part of this offense is. You don't feel comfortable with in terms of an offensive even needs to run because of how spectacular how quickly power effectively they can score and moved the ball through the air but I but I look at the talent look at it how well Laurence Maroney can't run when -- look at Buehrle got talk about -- can pick up. You know I -- look at the different things that -- able to do in -- on the -- in those sort of like situation old -- places that we've seen through the year and and I feel myself you know this team could run the ball effectively wild that didn't and I don't think because -- they they don't have to do and and I I also think that it's something to be said about your front Q are you set up the what you do best. This team. Throw the ball well then and therefore everything else does including run the ball is set -- by the ability to throw so it's a complementary part."
[24:11]" Definitely them and we're going to find out how well the all the parts will win we have equalizing factors like weather on the field -- that you grammatical buckeye joining us here. It's the playbook I would be -- an -- a little current events of the told in the NFL and what's your thoughts on Bobby Petrino sudden resignation and Atlanta."
[24:29]" I was starting I really did not foresee Bobby Petrino going that route that -- you glad I thought in fact -- got a blank the owner of the team is probably even the most surprised and that should say at all because I think he. I was feeling essentially -- okay healing after the whole Michael -- thing and that this team was going to move on end and didn't do rebuild restart wounded. And he described the trio mentioned CEO of the football team and and I I really think he mistrust people treat other kind of -- the way the same time it was not a good let you know that they would. Between those guys were on something in his mind a bit surprised at the collegiate level maybe good maybe better opportunity not I guess what Cabrera turned in the one. He previously had a -- and and I also. Question how much -- who felt comfortable with the whole -- and that he -- probably the first college coaches new hope and others who have found it very difficult to make that transition to the NFL from from all the success they had at the collegiate ranks and try to I think I think both factors -- into it ended in the opportunity -- in his -- just too great it's good to great norm but now we're 33 weeks left in the season and you -- players and falcon team very upset about this I'm sure again Arthur -- is not a happy guy and and frankly I've I'm hoping for provoked -- that you know he's he's pretty well put to rest ever covered Beckett NFL."
[26:04]" That won't adamantly yeah. Yet you're actually right in fact just knowing what I know because it is time at least -- as well the -- respect to what they're getting into Larranaga like retreat helmets on going to side with the."
[26:17]" I'm just not the way they could. Sometimes you don't know what you're your actions speak."
[26:22]" Yeah exactly why are you surprised as anybody else over the way the patriots really exploded the Steelers secondary in -- these particular week."
[26:31]" Well but I mean come very exciting move without Troy Polamalu I thought that was such a disadvantage for four. Pittsburgh and I also thought that you know -- birdied -- try and keep in -- what Tom Brady was -- from a from a protection standpoint will be compromised because -- one -- I don't know about -- younger guys -- those replacement players was that they -- more they -- aggressive -- an -- and -- a bad -- could be -- against -- going -- passing game -- and you know I've -- Tom -- even better -- better -- in -- with his play action and I just thought that would. That would be kind of the case between -- I thought the game might might. These people are the equalizer you talk about equalizer -- good it is no suitable to run the football effectively and -- and that's the step and I think really. We hit you between you guys is it will cut the rear end about it -- you could want a running back to run and power -- yards and -- the circumstances -- no teams that number would would would. Seemingly easy for a close game and give them a chance to win it it made no difference when you're as explosive as the patriots are just as effective pitchers that run the ball let Monroe meg are actually and so they just just. You don't know the running game and how well that's still worked out for."
[27:57]" He ambles of the ball I think that system cause for concern for patriots fans as were. -- around here you're not only there in ability apparently to run the ball on offense but to stop the run and defects not hard to argue with thirteen and I hope it. When you look at the you know the numbers between the lines there you can see that there is an opportunity for someone to do some exporting."
[28:17]" Well my guess that I did did you right I mean I at face value John but I also think you've got to look at how the games unfold so I think it I think that matters that you don't just look at it in terms of numbers and I think the world. Worrell worked -- different time in this game right now where did you know consistently effective running game aren't necessarily -- everything you need them to do your best result as a team that Seattle Seahawks -- classic example of of a team that you wanted to run away with the division and have -- not just such a hot streak because broke -- doing so throwing the football I would Matt Hasselbeck and and and really getting very little production from their running game the Packers you -- stick -- their first steps to. Success this season -- running at me from one would Ryan grant but I think the road this game is -- the way the rules of the game. Give you so much leeway in the passing game to take advantage were defensive backs just have to be hands off as much as possible you if you if -- it did your women and and Guillen visited the good that you could look at you can break it down. A thousand different ways the patriots are thirteen and no because they throw it better than everybody else. And -- and the Dallas Cowboys are where they are because they throw better than most of their teams and the Packers because Brett -- you're just -- that -- Indianapolis Colts group picture -- fourteen and and in. Surely didn't rank the reasons why those people are where they are. Throw the ball is number one with -- aren't."
[29:50]" Quarterbacks and receivers that's exactly right. On more for -- in terms of the Miami Dolphins next week's opponent. The patriots may very well end -- going sixteen to know if the dolphins win sixteen that's obviously has never happened before I mean. How much of a surprise would there would be number one and number two we -- tag as the Cleo Lemon is coming back in his quarterback."
[30:12]" I don't know what to make that situation because I think -- moved all the looting is one thing and and that's been and that and sixteen would seem to be looked very you know topped number four critical she -- overcome for but but he was in his first -- cam Cameron as a head coach and maybe he gets just because it was his first year and again now like what I -- situation would be like did you get achievements especially would their respective quarterback issues you know they -- the dolphins did. Start of the year up they -- Trent green would be able to get them through at least this -- that never happened at building happened and you know John -- is a rookie pushing him in as they have -- it's it went from bad to worse for them with five turnovers -- we committee couldn't even make the first quarter against buffalo so I see you know the team that is is but will get worse than quarterback situation also. Pulling -- another way if you don't you have veteran players are openly questioning -- head coach and has never healthy so you when you at all I think it makes for a very challenging decision process purpose for the ownership there would say are we really do in the lone -- do we pick the right guy and Kim please -- this -- they can't stay the course because they're -- you know did they have a quarterback they're going to find a lot of things -- and they have so -- to -- you just wonder how much better you can get -- next year."
[31:43]" Yeah you have to wonder. Does cam Cameron keep his job."
[31:48]" You know -- my gut -- job is pretty well further and -- for the reason that I -- as far as should be at first your guys did not have a quarterback and also having some key defensive injuries you can make the case and also. He's this what. Coach number two with three years right right so that's hit the reset button a whole lot and -- if you keep doing that you know let let that lack of continuity we we all know that usually doesn't bring good results."
[32:15]" Great Dick thanks a lot of the time again today what what's your -- this weekend will we see you here."
[32:19]" I actually now I'm I'm going to be in America who went through that key broke big SA SC play first type showdown between the golden Cleveland Browns."
[32:29]" That's right. Didn't think that you would probably be seeing that the beginning -- did you."
[32:34]" I didn't not that I did not and then you know will be interesting maybe getting a little further west might help out -- first eleven with a score at. Illinois in the ass -- started today explore."
[32:44]" Will you make sure you keep it for the -- going in the yeah -- your PO IQ that Rick and I are doing -- thanks appreciate it. -- it's discouraging as a senior editor for at a -- outcome. [37:59]" Yeah where it's. Look at -- and it. Really don't know."
[38:13]" Yeah it's going to snow ball right. What -- scenario again does not look good it looks rather bleak for Sunday in the match up with the jets who took him back inside patriots play book on John broken. It could be anywhere from six inches in May be much -- later on to a foot or more maybe even upwards of two feet depending on the track of the storm that's going to crawl the coast to meet with the cold hurts -- Babbitt -- but optical or perhaps actually late Sunday morning so you know if -- come into the game if you're in the area becoming the game make sure you bring lots of clothing players always work that the Michigan -- in the early I don't know may even have to want to stay tuned and and certainly cubs stay abreast of things of the of the patriots were upset as well because. My guess is is that if there's a possibility for some real weather problems they open up parking lots of early to get people in so to stay tuned anyway and and below will pass that information on do you. As becomes available to us in the meantime I just take a minute here before we get -- to me emails to update the playoff scenarios around the NFL because it's the workable discrepancies that -- got published on espn.com -- about the places so. It would only go to but no less an expert that our own Russell Baxter visit with us each and every -- each of Thursday -- in the program the and at the Richard courted for ESPN. And he sent me this note today talking about a big in the of the playoff scenarios on in the AFC obviously know the patriots clinched. In the gut they will clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win on Sunday that's all they needed it. Beat the jets and there's no way possible that they cannot have the number one seed in the AFC which of course is the ultimate goal you should -- During the regular season in the division titles knights yup that's great and obviously than a one seed in it goes without saying you're going to be division champ. But that's the one thing you don't want to have if you really have said that you want to play for because. You're guaranteed two games at home that way if of course you've got -- that second you're gonna get the AFC champ juvenile. Pitchers need to win. To get that big get it also with a -- Indianapolis loss horrible teams time just for you know accuracy accuracy rate your other colts clinched the AFC south division with a win or Jacksonville loss Pittsburgh -- the north division with a win and a Cleveland loss Pittsburgh will clinch a playoff berth where they Winston. There won't yet at the division title if Cleveland also beat buffalo San Diego gets the AFC west division if they win and Denver loses this weekend or ties. Or San Diego tie and the Denver loss but there is San Diego wins. There were also has to lose for the chargers clinched the west division. This weekend. Jacksonville clinch a playoff berth. With the wind and at Tennessee loss -- Cleveland will clinch a playoff berth as soon as this weekend if they win if they beat buffalo. In Tennessee and Denver -- lose. Plausible maybe not entirely but believable -- also right in the NFC. Here's how we are going into week fifteen the cowboys -- clinch home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs or they will with a win and Green Bay loss still have to agree and they lose one more cowboys win. One more if they do that and they'll have the number one seed in the NFC and I don't think anybody really expects. Anybody else otherwise to happen Green Bay we'll clinch a first round byes in other words no worse than the two seed in the NFC with a win and the Seattle loss or tie. Tampa -- clinched the south division champ Richard with a win. Or with a New Orleans loss. The giants will clinch a play -- in this is important now because obviously oh we've taken a budget emails here and I haven't shown -- the PFW guys as well. About the scenarios for week seventeen in a couple weeks. Wind is both teams have nothing to play for. And does that increase the patriots chances of -- finishing the perfect regular season well if the giants -- to clinch a playoff berth this weekend. They need a win or -- And if they win or tie this weekend they are in a the playoffs which basically will render the last two weeks moot because they can't be one of the top four seeds they can't win the division. So the best of the giants could do would be the five seed. Which means you're gonna open up on the road somewhere no matter what happens in the last two weeks. We also clinch playoff berth if Minnesota loses or -- and New Orleans loses types. But with a giants win the therein. Okay so there you go all they gotta do is win if they do than that renders everything -- And your guess is as good as most but my guess would be that they would probably choose the rest guys. You know and maybe there Reston in week sixteen than playing in seventy I don't know but you know they're going to have to play wild card game so they're not going to get an off week. And certainly the post season is what it's all about. So anyway just wanted to make sure that we brought that to to the four -- playoff look at what can actually happen with games this weekend toxins and team else is. New England 38 jets three and Mets in a nor'easter we've already predicting on Sundays game and move you know take your thoughts on that as well likened. You know -- would do that on Thursday's as we normally do hero program but he is 383 in nor'easter. Well okay Scott New Hampshire is what determines the salary of a draft is that spelled out of the CBA is just negotiated between team player's agent. If it's the latter than could team pay the rookie play a more saying contract I believe that it slotted if I'm not mistaken. Scott in and I I'm not the expert to be asking about this -- POW guys may know this a little bit more about it that I do because they stay up on little bit more. A little bit more into the individual matchups and games themselves but I would tell you based on my knowledge and I'm just being honest with the here I'm -- like the effect of I don't know it certainly BS -- on this I'm not going to do that. My guess is that it slotted in you do have a salary cap and so knowing what you have available to your roster -- guys come in Baghdad pretty much takes care what you could afford to play a rookie. So here are far off of the than could you pay a regular bit more yeah but you're close to the cap would you have to cut back probably in what you're going to cup personnel. So if you question a pinching pennies in -- in Edmonds attracting. Aren't let's see what else -- hear someone. Quite -- since this one and he says he's having a problem apparently with the Stephen discount ski this -- he says them. I was talk about this in the field goal that could've given us a seven point lead in the first half against Pittsburgh. At that point of the game it was crucial considering what our defense was doing I'm getting very uncomfortable with him. Is there any kicker -- a waiver wire that we can look at -- lord. I'm not going to go any further first the ball if there was a kicker it is the kicker being on the way your waiver wire this stage of the game. And not on the roster what does that tell you. She really think that a quote unquote streak free agent is going to be better than what you have its deepest asking."
[45:44]" Please some people you know some people need to. Think about what they're riding before they send an email. That's an Camby when you were really can't I mean he's got a heavy enough leg some of the reasons four perhaps his kickoffs not all getting into the end zone are that. Patriots are actually trying to play field position and and you know he's got a heavy -- you usually get in there when he needs to. Some of them are designed place -- K this comes from the big now this -- he's listen the webcast archive from yesterday over here in the Middle East. Thanks -- appreciate nieces and nit picking up from -- Tuesday off I could not agree with you more about the one lingering issue this team only to confront that being the run defense. Particularly on first and ten. When the bad weather really hits during the post season we may be challenged by runners like Joseph Addai Ladainian Tomlinson Fred Taylor and Jamaal Lewis the browns. Well let's start with Thomas Jones of the jets this weekend now but but what might happen I have been assuming that Richard Seymour still gets double team even when recovering from an injury -- that while we don't seem to hear his name called as much. However as long as he's demanding a double team and the debate that's good. Double presumably free up all the people that's a very good point it probably part of the reason that you're seeing a guy like Vince Wilfork making tackles now. -- because he's in position to do that because there's attention being paid elsewhere on the line of scrimmage. Palaces this could be one of those years we really need that -- Coming off the bye week during the regular season we really shut down the bills in buffalo although admittedly they did not have the services of march on lynch that night. So I'm still optimistic about the postseason in in nineteen and I'll finish toughest game will be the AFC championship game which would probably be against the second best team in football but. Will happen at home. TI yes the big thanks operations -- they -- over the Middle East on all the points by you might all the points. All right James R Brandon down. Roanoke rapids North Carolina since this -- today little book the of the comparison working it actually looks pretty good so I'll share some of it with he says a lot of been made of the supposed soft schedule the patriots have this year. How might contribute to them possibly going undefeated this season and whether they should be called best team ever. To get a better idea how good pitchers patriots might be up ought to compare the teams the patriots -- of the season. The teams at the 72 dolphins in the 85 bears play during their respective great seasons. Can turn up. For the Saudi involvement finished fourteen and always says that played two teams and and have winning records no eventual playoff. At three close games one point went over for nine and one bubble team two point win over 77 Minnesota in a four point one over 77 jets to. The combined record of the opponents. Was -- 369 winning percentage. That's not very good at all even -- that was her all the team blue patriots up 52 nothing yours well right. Gave the 85 players who finished fifteen in one. They played six teams that had winning records to eventual division champs three eventual wild cards they lost by fourteen points to a twelve and four Miami team they had to close games. Six point win over a -- Green Bay seven point win over five and eleven in the the combined winning percentage of their opponents four -- 73. We'd have to say the 85 bears certainly Iraq up -- nicely with the 72 golf and even though we didn't win the every game they didn't finish fifteen warmer they had a tougher schedule -- the dolphins 72. -- now the 7 patriots currently thirteen and they've already played seven teams. They have winning records and will play at least once more seasons in the giants. They will have played in beaten four division champs in at least -- One wild card team by season's end. But it three close games this year we know. And let's see the combined record of their opponents are right. 53 it. Now that percentage is going to come down. -- a couple of weeks with the jets -- the dolphins and then in the crawl back up incrementally oh when they face on the giants in in in the last week so. What does that -- Tells me at least James is. That should the patriots go undefeated this season and add that to multiple records there on pace to break -- do and so that I say you'll have a very hard time not calling them the best team ever. Couldn't agree more. Could agree more we sort of danced around that over the last few weeks as we've gotten closer to the end of the season but this definitely underscored that James and I'm very happy when did the research thank you -- sending it in you know I'm going to you know I'm going to hold on this email because quite frankly will use it going to compare things with what if we ever need to do that but the fact is the patriots have played a tougher schedule than either one of the 85 bears or the 72 dolphins which are considered. And and certainly should be considered two of the best teams of all time in the NFL. And patriots managed to get through unscathed they should be on -- the 85 players in the 72 -- without them. Very good email good researched -- James exit dedicated fan or knucklehead or -- one of the other net and Quincy. I know realistic talking about a local radio host that are very little room for maintains. That the only thing the pats did wrong with that they had a camera on the field that the patriots did not cheap because it is not illegal the film another team's signals. I think he's wrong. Well yeah and I'm not sure that I am the person be asking this is probably better pointed toward totally Perillo. Mike based on right now in in my interpretation of what the rules that you can't film anybody. Period that's what I think you're not supposed. In fact the letter of the law came down as that you know no video -- world nobody rotating on the sidelines period. Based on what I read and that's what I recall and I have the letter in front that that's all -- So you know kind of past that now but nevertheless that's what I think are right Charles. In Atlanta. Since this he says and this game isn't going to -- of the hype my guess is the jets play their hearts out and keep it close but. Leading up to the game is not one sport for it without a demented blood lust for what could happen and I have to admit some other ideas are pretty good okay you -- gives us to. This and come from bill Simmons sports races. And your wife had been -- eliminated the seeds Steelers and jets games. While the pats look Chris Hanson inactive for the jets game and played without a partner would -- be the ultimate slap in the face noticed going in Mangini -- not hunting he think of a better psychological -- it's one thing to -- nineteen and -- it's another thing to be the team that intentionally scratched their punter before game for the first ever a few transaction. It's funny that I actually saw that. And then Mike McAllister writes this is here's what Belichick should do when he meets here Mangini and midfield follow in the past 58 to three win on Sunday and Mangini came quarters today. I don't know what I was thinking and stealing your crappy team sons but feel free to take hours. Good excellent. It's a natural -- and in Sioux City, Iowa -- all the poor bastard that don't get NFL network I think the jets game would have been fortified weeks after the first it would have. Had a lot more emotion attached to it. Is this a loss of despite it is an that it just doesn't seem like is big a deal and most of later. He says in good weather past 48 to seventeen bad weather pats 2818. And he given the -- all that's a lot of credit there I don't disagree with a 28 points but eighteen by the jets. Kellen Clemens quarterback. Oh okay John Missouri. The John the new video allegations don't mean much it just highlights the culture of gamesmanship or spying in the NFL. If we expect everyone else media and fans like to get over it. We should make a big deal all the -- need to say about any of it is being said on the game. Spoken like someone in the locker down knowledge -- davis' I think we should do like bill did it when this broke. But this somewhat smells like a rat welcome to the bloated bull sorry rats no cheese year. -- smells like man Jeannie gate so much smells like a rat okay an update appreciate that as we now embark upon -- over to a patriots playbook. Here patriots dot com radio I'm John give you chance to catch up as well be just walking out of program what radio at patriots dot com and our email address got plenty of time to get in a few more email today. Your thoughts on -- The jets apparently -- to the patriots last year no last. After the patriots did what they did allegedly in in according to the spike gate incidents back in the opening week of this season and they wanted to know your thoughts on and it's much ado about nothing police say so. Do you think that you know hey if the jets are as guilty. As the patriots were apparently then should the jets also be held accountable like the patriots were apparently. Or shall we just move on. Fair question number one number two you ready for the big snow has apparently it's common. So your thoughts -- the jets the pats matchup on Sunday here at Gillette. In the meantime let's get you off too well updated in terms of how this football team was practicing out there on the field state is preparing for the JETS jets jets jets. And -- have started over head coach of Bill Belichick. Him."
[55:28]" run a few -- morning conference call on New York. You know how those things can -- a little long so it's. What -- you know rent a villa where in the jets and it's you know this is a team that's a -- a lot of tight games loves it played very well couple weeks ago against Pittsburgh one and beat them. And you know lot of space or you know a quarterback is. Is the most obvious one -- defensively there they're playing a lot of people -- all across the board both in the second period and in the front seven you know a lot of lot of new players are rotations guys playing different positions you know and I'm Robert incidence nuns and knows sometimes -- and outside linebackers and the president. -- Coleman's on the left the right so forth and so on so you know there's there's. A number different personnel things that they do as we know it just server both of team they can they can get don't want play in any phase of the game whether kickoff return by Washington -- blocked kick or. Big play past to Cotchery herb -- Long run by Jones -- Sacramento option by roads or you know one of their pressure defense is where it they get a guy coming free him. You know. Not the quarterback down knocked the ball loose and all that -- on Wednesday there won't have taken they can turn him around in a hurry. Court quickly again and again we ought to get ready for so we're going to need all time that we can get -- Try to re calibrate here I think the you know quite a bit different from what we on September or early this similarities them and that there's there's a lot of things that are new and three months and and you know they've they're doing things differently -- prepare for the week in and out of a big challenge for we're reps on the job."
[57:25]" Okay."
[57:28]" Go otherwise you know it came yeah. The possibility that there's an easy no when you're really getting your players. That's not -- that really."
[57:42]" What I think he meant to be aware of it you know airplane in the northeast and at this time a year you have to be ready for the different element thank -- My experience is then you gotta be careful about go overboard one where the other. This -- ban on you know Tuesday we needed a game planner Wednesday included in his -- and change between now and and -- for Katz's. I was put no it turns out of these sixty degrees and -- as though you know thank you you know you set up the way you. You know you wouldn't want to play the team and and kind of a normal situation and then as the game gets closer than you be ready to a -- that the conditions as they get a little more predictable and and does it comes to precipitation or or heavy winds are things like that oh we usually don't talk to the team about that until either the day of the game more. This creates -- 1 o'clock game so maybe the night before. I've made that day before you know the night before on the team you know where we're going to plan and snow and wake up the next morning and fifty degrees on in and look at like him. What are moral and you are -- we go through that. So but then again I mean any end no matter what the conditions are our -- a jet and a team we got off the -- we got to block and we gotta tackle him we've got to defend them -- we got to cover kicks against common and that that's really no matter what the situation is whether was on Sunday we got to do a good job against the New York there there are home of the league that's where our -- focuses and whether can be a factor but I think we've got to. You know we got to focus on the jets and then they may be as he gets close to game time --"
[59:20]" There's something that we might affect us don't work with -- there -- roster."
[59:31]" A lot of us and I'm going to get a transcript take a look at it. This is a personal thing refused your point is well. It's the next and the division again you know team that we know well we've played three times last year. -- a year -- and they know what we know them well and you know we're just going to try to do we always do which is when -- have a good week of preparation there. Owens on the that's our job that's we get paid to do. As we want to do so you know everything in the past and tests -- things in the future don't really matter. Right now one game is we're focused on New York Jets -- vote. I'm happy to talk about that once they've got that."
[1:00:23]" He's going to be so much attention paid to come --"
[1:00:27]" Scenario is six and I advise and all that right right now my attention is on the New York Jets Duca and really on thinking about. It's how we can help if I how I can prepare our team the best in my ability prepare for the in play on them."
[1:00:44]" It's always good doesn't make you money easy amusing to you guys comfortable and actions don't. Don't care I'm kind of smiled. Then right now my focus on getting ready here. -- to cart wheels. After the quarterback and would love to do differently and then --"
[1:01:10]" Like the very very good you don't consider -- good pre season so we on the pre season get ready for the opener you know of his athletic you know things have strong -- can make all the throws he scrambled out and and got a good job both thought you know make the plays out of pocket he's also you know on reverses and stuff like you know he's a -- and it got there block you know he's tough kid. I don't think he's got a good arm to get the ball downfield it's got a good touch on the -- strong in the pocket you know you gotta wrap -- day they move morale among. I'm not a big bootleg team that they run plays with a quarterback and is in the pocket and he certainly athletic enough to do you know he's all the ball down all scrambled and picked up yankees' first downs on third down situations ago. You know and somewhere the last week of Roethlisberger you know I'm not talking about a got a Vince young but you know got to come pull bald mountain and pick -- irritation opening game first downs critical situations. You know you have to defend as well clumps."
[1:02:08]" Good team talk about this -- watch. He seemed very active last week so -- telling me just."
[1:02:16]" Opponents a real good player I think he does everything well. He's you know he's strong he's physical he's he's itself got walking -- running game. And he's an explosive guy and pass -- and he has good quickness and play a good leverage than Mark he understands football and understands blocking -- it's -- that's we're we're strong and particularly the fans were -- week and sometimes how the Canadian right in the middle happy can accomplish it on that on where the other you know when you're. But -- strong one place and and we don't know other than the first place you can virtually Joe is right in the middle that he found with a -- than those of the middle linebacker or or when he or safeties that the try to. You know she -- there have now of that type things. You know Vince is very well prepared one of them. What I don't know that they didn't and smartest defensive linemen and I've coached and he's got a lot of guilt he works hard penalties he's out there all the time. It's good in the offseason but he's. As long list of positives."
[1:03:16]" Going to probably anywhere near the New York conference on Newsday is reporting and indigestion William woods. He's also leads July last year where in England you need any of these things you can't."
[1:03:27]" At that there's there's a lot of things that happened in the past -- been talked about on the test and -- and really all the test isn't I don't care about nine of those right now my focus on the New York just."
[1:03:39]" You know. There's 500 game then and then certainly."
[1:03:48]" Little let's talk about that a everybody's interest that now forty years ago -- whatever. Particularly angry about my Fabrice is it isn't game it is division game. In division games are very competitive you you're used to playing a team a couple of times a year. But it just three times last year you know we know each other well. Competitive and we want to do well should they want to do well. --"
[1:04:22]" I don't know I understand if you want to talk bobcats however we were heavily punished for what went on. We viewers -- week just."
[1:04:30]" I think the pats get a pass and at best I'm not -- about the past and thinking about this week."
[1:04:38]" It's when -- always."
[1:04:51]" Did you come -- Tom. It's just that the for a -- is that wanted to organized. Duke Friday -- on the that's probably would I couldn't put anybody and."
[1:05:09]" young and inexperienced but not a soft spot form there. You -- This -- works this way one of the good."
[1:05:29]" I thought we played better defensively last week then that we had other weeks but you know again last -- last week so it doesn't really. The -- difference I don't think there's any. Carry over thanks to carry over we'll our own on the afternoon it. You know -- the game starts and that we'll see how how we play and how we play versus them that point five so that's again that's -- week it's one game isn't like -- or. Our own Wednesday get ready for Sunday and only go out there and put your best effort out there on the field and him seeing how good that are not good that is."
[1:06:07]" Yeah yes yes yes that's right it was fair Pittsburgh and handed him and that's it differently that it -- it and look what what is it you know."
[1:06:18]" I came right down the -- overtime games and they've been this year. Did that like there it really like -- really going to venom that is practically every independent come down let us. Including my last last week's game criminalist can clear wanna -- came right down little possessions. Women organs of them open to doubt it so that's me that's always done -- them and they and make a lot of plays you know. Just like last week -- you know anything that Cleveland. It was in good shape after Lewis Gorton and Jeff Gordon and -- like you're gonna get Mario one on -- cakes and that's me that's weather we've seen that before too you know we had played a big lead on down there and in the kicking game last year I was twenty for an -- block a field goal. They're strong for the ends on the end of the game so they want to play as I can turn around in a hurry and it can be in any phase of the game can be and a kicking game offensively Ortiz on a well balanced team and got -- our."
[1:07:26]" Thank -- And coach Bill Belichick and members of the patriots media earlier today at Gillette stadium how funny. Was Tom -- from NBC sports dot com how fun it was a question who's your favorite. In pro ball boy. That's also. It happened at the."
[1:07:42]" Even get a smile of a coach but. Unbelievable -- perfect it probably did it and -- Tom I'm sure he didn't think about the question for awhile. Well I was Corey. Perfect -- man are you we go email radio patriots dot com a commitment just a few minutes we're going to get to Eric Mangini conference called members of the patriots media civil. Hopefully have a contrast in styles for you to observe today. And a little later on in this hour we'll get inside the patriots locker room interviewed today Wes Welker. Ty Warren Rodney Harrison Benjamin Watson Mike Vrabel and Asante Samuels all of their thoughts on the upcoming. Anticipated blistered bowl against the jets this Sunday -- to let our right Stephen Ames, Iowa since this -- Says I'm wondering if Brady gets hurt and is done for the season with a -- would be able to go get a blood so reply -- To lead on the rest of the way. Will will really Plummer would be better to keep. Oral Christian and yeah I guess electrician Grilli this late stage in the season okay I mean honestly knock on wood here okay. On Formica or whatever might be if something like that were to happen I don't see the players go to getting my guess is is that Matt Cassel takes the ball in and goes with a with a you believe in him or not. Because he's just so late in the year I did you know the only other person that I could see them going to get. Obviously is -- he was already signed and that's Vinny Testaverde because to Vinny has the the background here. But if he's not available so in that regard I don't see him get anybody period he says I was also curious who's in the middle order everybody not to use video recorders on the field this year. With the competition committee I think that some of the people on the committee a relief there to help their own team and not promote fair competition. -- but no I think that was an edict. Well yeah yeah I guess it was at he came from commissioner Goodell but it may be it was on behalf of the competition committee that's possible I. Again I'm not entirely a 110% certain but he came from the league it. Which means that you know you know it was a you know a committee that simple whether it was Roger Goodell signature on the letter that makes -- difference today. Bomb day David says hi my hatred -- the jets Cohen's coincides with the Yankees hatred. A single women a lot of that this week but yeah I I mentioned that earlier. Because what is the computer doing here. Well okay with playing commercials but his love these pop of amongst the -- yeah that was -- things I mentioned earlier in the program. That in all just the we do have the hold the court versus New England thing going this week but that is. Really that's not even on the phone or -- on the corners published that all year. I guess it really makes sense that a lot of hatred the patriots fans would have the jets would just be because you have a New York hatred. You know because your New England or New England fans. He says and so now we can walk the walk let's also talk the talk I think goes back Curtis Martin. The -- really bad obviously we made out with Parcells -- but -- babe Ruth I think it's great -- indefensible political stripes they don't -- I think it's great for the NFL kind of like Canadian seventy sixers Damn Yankees wrapped. Dave says PS Red Sox 2004 World Series and the last patriots suitable now we haven't again you know what's right. The one difference of course -- you point out. Is that the the last -- who boy and the Red Sox World Series were in different seasons even though they came in the same count these would be the same seasons as well. It's the same calendar -- little bit of a difference. Little would have little bit of it is to the patriots won -- Super -- technically after the 3 season right. Even though was in 2004. Right -- give -- right they get that wrong. I'm losing track also was in my mind let's Larry since he is John this season of course has been a dream so far looking ahead however feels like we are thin in the secondary. According to Mike -- Eugene Wilson played 23 of 68 snaps I didn't take much on zone how to play. A substantially -- maybe even be a strong -- guards just playing at his out his string here that's a good question you we -- a little thin but we're not it's not near as -- it has been a recent years. And even used to must admit there because last what 45 years we've been decimated in the secondary by injuries and we haven't had that type of problem. This season again. Knock on -- there may be but it may not compare to the way they with a last year from the pulled off street free agents like Artrell Hawkins. You know halfway through the season. So and in that regard. I don't think too worried at all is he has some might believe I mean it's just because it's sort of -- kind of like familiar occurrence here. Eugene Wilson certainly can't help but I think Eugene Wilson because of his inability to stay healthy he's kind of fallen out of favor a little bit. I honestly. Just notice him either. That's an honest assessment didn't notice so he was on the field for 23 -- 68 snaps. Didn't really notice. I don't know he's playing -- a strain or not but you know obviously there are any injury problems between on the in the season that yet you'll. You'll see Eugene Wilson out there probably for more than that. Okay James is decided to get stat happy honest today James and Roanoke rapids. North Carolina and the other in the previous hour maturities and it's is nice comparison between the 72 dolphins the 85 bears in the -- seven patriots in terms of strength of schedule back which was. James says just -- this question. Questions as to how this year's lack of offensive rushing and the increasing amount of rushing yards the -- has been given up. Both for the patriots chances going into the playoffs. -- to do this I am including a comparison of this year's rushing stats to the three years the patriots went on to win the Super Bowl. It was my understanding that there would be no math. Raymond James though to come up with the math and and James you know one honest to goodness. I appreciate you more than you possibly could notes in -- might be poking fun I'm not having fun -- your -- and having fun because. Quite frankly there are people like you out there who really give a -- you know what's."
[1:14:28]" Not to let that."
[1:14:31]" So thank you for the email it's it's good stuff to talk about no question no question you we go now offensive. Rush the 2001 Super Bowl champ patriots -- you would go. Averaged 23 point two point three and the average a 112 point one yards rushing -- game is an unbelievable table. Carriage -- you know. This is fast and it was my understanding that there would be no matter who exactly like that it you don't put together here is very nice. Okay 1112 yards per game rushing the 2003 patriots averaged. 21 point eight points from game and a hundred. Four yards -- program in 427 point three points per game a 133 point four yards on the ground. And then this year this year 38 point seven scoring is we know considering our 113 point seven. So compared to the other three teams that won Super Bowl this would rank number two out of four. Well behind the 4 patriots but a head to head of the 1 in the 3 patriots in terms of rushing yards per game okay -- stuff. Good assessment means that they're not you know as poor as they even have been with previous Super Bowl champion James. -- now as far as the defensive rushing yards allowed by the patriots deep into the previous Super Bowl seasons. In -- They gave up 115 point nine yards per game on the ground 113 one and also seventeen points. In 3 they gave up very stingy 89 point six yards per game on the ground and only fourteen point nine points. That was the -- that was the better patriots deepest question you know 498 point two on the ground sixteen point two points for. -- comparable at least this year. So far 99 point six per game on the ground. Seventeen point one points so they're technically of the four teams a fraction behind tour the other Flutie. A Super Bowl teams in points per game netted a point six is the second worst per game rushing average they are allowed in defense. Now back -- dead -- which could come down over a depending upon what happens this weekend next week with the dolphins. And then of course we never know really won't want -- the giants went to the table last week based on what they really have to play for what the no comparable numbers James it's great job you -- his if you ask me I think that once they need to both were on the ball and stop the run then you'll see them do it. Right once they need to do it they'll probably do. Today James gets the gold star for the day in class no doubt about it. Diana Bridgeport, Connecticut says John what do you think the idea that Matt Cassel and Gutierrez should quarterback the entire Miami game to give Miami a chance to win. To save them from historical disgrace -- you nuts."
[1:17:31]" Let let up at the."
[1:17:33]" She says given the boards sixteen and -- this will be seen as a moral and more competitive equalizer that would be accepted or not. Nuts but that happens a -- it is great good stuff I think she had to say this with tongue in cheek right. That's not going to happen first of all the patriot pride would let them do it even if somebody actually considered -- you know probably wants plight. Can you want to play ready watch that play these guys want to play and to realize that on the precipice of and his stone circle the year. You know hole I think it. We've changed this we really have a chance to do this now. I know that they would say that through four weeks ago but now. So close that can take that I -- you know that these guys historians of the game you know whether it would Randy Moss. Take arguably a pay cut to come here -- he want to win and he has to be remembered he used to be in -- these guys want to be and if they do this there im all. This conversation will continue to take place for the next twenty to thirty years and may be much more. We've been mentioning the 72 dolphins 35 years by the way but he noted that the dolphins dolphins this weekend were actually going to honor. The 72 team. -- turning it -- going to have some of the group for against. Course no truth to the room that the going to signed twenty guys but -- and it's going to happen probably do just as good -- job I would. While okay. [1:20:45]" Erica I usually run option I don't I'm doing just did you just couldn't and let's get you know you -- I try to get something out of bill about. About the long rivalry of the patriots and jets that was never the hot rivalry except among the players. -- guard about the 70s80s and I. The play is hated each other well now we are approaching controversy but nevertheless when -- did did you have the same feeling about playing the jets. That doesn't -- really wanted to be both times and wanted to be in good."
[1:21:19]" Did you get this they're. Being with did you -- go to the patriots can that -- with the patriots and ordered and it it's their rivalry and you enjoy the games -- there's a lot of intensity on all sides and and that's really expect him to."
[1:21:39]" And now don't everybody wants to make something you. The relationship -- doing bills I had watched I used to it but the fact is good team has been. On the cusp of a lot of games in overtime isn't whatever it and you know looking for a looking very upset what you do something a meaningful that the way you -- your guys work."
[1:22:01]" I spoke to a hard time I ever won he was down watching game -- visiting your side and just ask some howry got injured the -- when they got through. And he told -- story about when he was playing him any try to tackle Gary didn't want to play very much but he didn't get any good friend Jody Davis time. They're playing the jets and got it on third down. Can't play out of bullets and and other we have -- hey mister David made a bit. Got the first down and he talked about how -- play effective in the restaurant drives and eat subway you're single handedly responsible for giving up that touchdown drive. -- wouldn't learn about that it needs certain time slot the next play to be able to folks on the next play. And that as a as a head coach you always knew -- going to come down to a handful of plays and the player's ability to focus on the next play and then -- bunt that the what what was important and what he thought was a big reason this success we have a lot of games could come down to those canceled slaves during. We have been executed as well as we needed to in those areas and games that were close song to our opponent as opposed. And that's -- Q folks -- it it being able to improve that area and make sure that we've we had the opportunity. In the close games in the future that report to prevent him."
[1:23:24]" it's so difficult to maintain consistency in football the patriots certainly have done it well their record and that's another should be commended for it like -- playoff game. What are some of the factors that changed you know -- assumption want you were just going to move on from there. You're right back in general what some of the fact that James that this is."
[1:23:48]" It talked about just after the playoff game and it -- press coverage -- each year it is so unique any cheers so different. And you don't get just started tennis -- you could start at whatever you finished the previous year yet should do all the other things he did the year before. And continue to grow and improve -- those particular stage. This year he's figure and hero were several teams are in the playoffs last year. Won't be teams that went deep in the playoffs won't be an and other teams that they had down years will beat him and that's. That's about actually yen and that's why can't approach every situation and every year -- its own entity."
[1:24:31]" Coach Rodney Harrison has made a few pretty big plays the last couple weeks of -- against Baltimore. And the following week against Pittsburgh had you seen the patriots using him in a different manner than they have maybe earlier in the year."
[1:24:45]" Right mayors and it was special player and it's simply just a special person C teams -- to coach from the perspective. She would do anything he could possibly do to help the team wearing. Regardless of what we're best album and and he loves the challenge covering the best tight end he loves the challenge of of the games and and he's one of those -- always want the ball into the game that he wants to be able to make the plays that. They impact the game and then combine that we do. Bit tight group of human being that is then I just can't say enough about him as a player as a person."
[1:25:26]" Okay department that are having contact with a guy like him he's still. They have different -- there aren't any of those okay."
[1:25:34]" Oh would be different approach very. Bruce Bruce Rodney united at a very close relationship have a very close relationship and it's party airboat. His family and -- doing outside of football they'd never be conversation football specific but it just. Let's -- a catch up on a personal level. We have an object."
[1:25:59]" Derek Q -- you see anything different with the Tom. Brady this year rather than having a new receiving corps."
[1:26:07]" How -- worse. Impressive from the stated that he got that building from the perspective of the -- if you work then regardless of whether he rebounds to see not even a third quarterback -- but just. Being able corporate guys after practice there's an intensity about it when he did get captured city guys -- the same approach as he's gotten more more successful -- more more accolades he hasn't changed his work ethic his intensity it selflessness. None of that has affected who is in I think it it'll get better and better each year because. It -- that it doesn't change regardless of what happens externally."
[1:26:50]" leverage the accomplishment of the patriots thus far just. At a meeting every division opponent winning on the road against Indy. And -- in Dallas. And you know obviously have on Super Bowls before you've been part of it. But this seems to be just a little different so far I don't ever want to Super Bowl yet but -- seems to be different what what's striking about the season if anything."
[1:27:15]" It's itself. And a lot of ways very similar that the best seasons and each one of the players approach the game I'm sure aware of where you. Absolute -- preparation and then Jordan and executed -- high level and that's what you're looking for for. For your team at all pointers and the ability do have good we have preparation and it carried that preparation over it to its execution and got a lot of talented players in which is. It worked extremely hard and then that's that's strictly yeah. Period of their success."
[1:27:54]" Experience and does and how we want to be a part but the robbery in. Consider what about the golf well how how much would -- win in this in the view."
[1:28:03]" And -- punitive -- it's no different. We can sense that this could -- a division opponent that won the division quite a few years now and then have a high low stress. We know are counting going to be fit to go in there and execute the game plan and then do good things -- that we needed to to -- the game. And all these be external things are things that you can't focus -- it can't look at pitchers. So much other work to do that's going to affect outcome."
[1:28:35]" That means that Eric do you understand why people are so that's what this whole relationship not only between teams but between -- Personalities and leave the team."
[1:28:45]" I completely appreciate the interest I respect -- all the questions and I understand that that it's important to ask those questions then you got he's got through -- Packers fans attached to people and dome I completely understand that."
[1:29:02]" Did you. Wish what happened didn't happen."
[1:29:05]" You know -- that issue it's it's an issue it's -- matter what kind of by the league hitters in the past and really certain although bad actor Sam."
[1:29:17]" Bother you if you don't -- book ever again."
[1:29:21]" You know I've told you are -- vote about ability I've got a lot of respect for him then he's got a lot from in my career and appreciate it from the first time."
[1:29:32]" Urges the root of your facts straight and Clark showed up here it's always. There's always depicted that you blew away -- you'd drop the dime you blew the whistle did you have anything. Personally to do with that is -- that happened the first game."
[1:29:50]" I get I do appreciate that bet that's your question but really in terms wholly accurate it's really matter at all poetic thing."
[1:30:02]" there's a report in -- jets employee was especially at Gillette stadium last season possibly worth for videotaping their coaches is that an accurate report."
[1:30:14]" What we do everywhere game as we -- art changed from bullpen -- whatever it's it's possible. We always got a -- and to do that usually -- it's correct that private there's a physical space to do that. It's because this same angle that you get and practical and down at any rate that's -- to direct we extend the same courtesy it's it's pretty common home or the other depending on fourteen play trip to look at their -- And and that's really what it was."
[1:30:47]" have your permission perhaps you know we we had it. Oh yeah."
[1:30:57]" What question about I -- US earlier in the week but maybe it was. That -- tainting of the three Super Bowl wins here in New England and I mean. Yes -- do you feel that what's happened here game one what's happened throughout this season. Despite a controversy hesitated what the patriots have accomplished."
[1:31:18]" BP you should have won the Super Bowls were a couple of hard working guys. They're prepared extremely hard and executed well on Sunday. And and that's that's what it was respect Bruce teams and players have people. And they did Europe and an outstanding job during -- record this season."
[1:31:40]" Eric do you expect this game to be any more emotional than the other thirteen play."
[1:31:45]" It's it's -- next opponent then it's so I understand already against the external things that are associated with it. But if you -- if you worry about better look at better spend time thinking about that. Whether it's you know anyone at a different -- Q ball you lose track of what was so important that's surfer. A really challenging team in at all street --"
[1:32:09]" When you hear when the patriots that they didn't -- videotaping that they. We're back trouble dealing."
[1:32:16]" certain average. -- hard to say about this matter."
[1:32:21]" If Eric actually got you coach your responses at -- Yankees I want the top couple quarters in the game it how challenging is that what's important for -- and I assure that the football -- direction. -- guy he was covered. How our our quarter he had a good about."
[1:32:38]" It was when when we drafted Sarfate and Eugene. I was or really find here because he's such a young guys geno ended up. Going back just just think he's. Two guys that didn't really develop together. End that thing with the shock that it was so impressed upon college -- when he got two at eighteen it -- and it also goes. Excellent hands actually understanding your when to break where the roads are going and I think in my heart time all the time because he could pretty much intercepted a ball that came to home. And when he didn't have to retreat practiced pessimistic you know why not because he's just got that he's got better that's special ability that -- have."
[1:33:32]" Yeah game help you see them a I'll always has -- on the other titans."
[1:33:37]" I mean it's it's it's different each opponent and and everybody has different way you were to attack on. You know whether it would David he does have the ability to turn the ball over created turn over at any point then I'm sure he extreme assesses the risk reward differently."
[1:33:56]" You've coached against some great offenses here resident coordinator as a defensive coach and now as a head coach. Is this the best offenses you ever coached against."
[1:34:06]" They -- each offense it is different the rams were were extremely -- thing that you're. Point thing. And he's always been difficult and and you've faced different challenges from different offensives. -- it has the ability to run the football effectively to throw the football effectively. Every one of their skill players can can score hurt at any point. The offensive line is extremely well coached then the quarterback as a great understanding of what the defense is trying to do it where she can exploit it. -- yeah Saturday he swung presented different that this sending a bit ago."
[1:34:51]" Eric do you expect to participate in that traditional post game handshake and you look forward to Angola. Do."
[1:34:58]" I don't I don't expect her doing anything outside the norm but I do. Every game we wear it every coach that I've played him."
[1:35:09]" point seven point underdog -- a reflection on top of the competition your playing but his at all you think your players at all sort of you guys perhaps. Disrespectful but I haven't made it might be channel let him do further motivation."
[1:35:25]" Well that's not the players -- footballers deadline Asian. That's something that bit you know -- biggest to do or Barrett as an average or worse good and again that's want to lose those things that are externally parker came in and don't really affect the outcome."
[1:35:44]" You feel like just your Super Bowl."
[1:35:47]" Actually efficient an opportunity for us to -- Continued to reject out of Patrick will continue in terms of the progress we've made especially lately a lot of key areas and get a chance to play an outstanding team in on the road a division opponent and that benefits counterfeit."
[1:36:09]" Thank you very much Eric thing."
[1:36:13]" Eric Mangini again who courses the head coach and your jets former defensive coordinator for the patriots in. Certainly telling -- but more forthcoming in his. Forthright response to questions about spike in everything else that -- would deal with that like and shake it. Midfield after the game electric stuff but you know little bit more so than than maybe Bill Belichick is but. So much to say he's probably Olson told no more on the subject even though you're gonna get questions. The Alaskan about that no more on the subject and that pretty much and that in August and some of those and answered rather predictable but then again. You know I you get a little bit more of an understanding of the context in which those questions -- asked my -- like doing this we are we in the conference calls. Playing them for your -- knowledge do you get the answers were going to you know didn't really. Did that leave anything due to two to figure on your own I mean you hear the question you hear the answer and that's it. You know you get the full context I -- sometimes you need that whenever there's some things that can be misconstrued and especially a couple of emails -- we'll -- inside the patriots locker room watching -- with the players you're thinking about the match up with the jets on Sunday that of course is most important here Johnson says he says. This definitely reeks of conspiracy here's the issue I have no one's gonna say let it go it's no big deal -- the Ellis not. The implications the jets at the start of the season turned us into the most hated team in the NFL in recent memory. Just because we're having this monster season does not excuse their actions. Says this reminds me of the cold -- in crowd noise we eat the cheaters moreland so the issue was completely dismissed who would -- question the colts. Now here it is again. A worthless team the jets caught cheating promised not that'll happen. So -- while I understand that a lot of people do want you know basically tit for -- where this is witnesses you know. Com concern but you know because the NFL is not getting in my own personal thought here is John that is because the NFL doesn't know oh. About the jets alleged -- cheating because the patriots never reported it. I don't ever does anything that they can do about it has this been -- the patriots reported and they said we'll keep an eye on it what that AB. Who knows it may be may be just because. It has been an overwhelming topic of conversation throughout the entire NFL season maybe they make a couple phone calls and check -- I don't I can't answer that question but. I can understand your point of view I can see both sides people who would say just let it go and others that would say. Knoedler ago you know hold the jets the same standards that we failed to. Maybe maybe what's our what's it going grab a couple more here let's go to pats this John seeing Anthony Smith getting burned on Sunday it was extremely satisfying than Brady getting in his face. The logic saying they played against better safeties and even gymnast and Phil -- ripping him two man team like he would ones. He was stuck at one of those southwesterly commercials want to get away but. That would pretty good pretty good that. On is it true those guys were saying -- WEEI the jets safety Kerry Rhodes was talking about the pats and saints -- the like I'm not getting your team they understanding that any controversy toward that team hopefully we don't get beat too badly I don't know I don't know that I heard I heard. Kerry Rhodes say I'm not going to guarantee anything but I did not I did not hear him say I have not read the quote hopefully we don't get beat too badly. I did not -- anyways is there some confidence I don't know if they were joking that cracked me up they played a rough game against the brownies are really don't think they'll have anything left put a much of a fight against possibly the greatest team of all time. And that will be no handshake patriots going to bring. Two Robert Kraft read G -- head on a plate -- Robert Kraft Reggie he's had bought plate that's. Snow snow there's no way the jets don't lose Big -- is 33 to six plants. It's actually not a not a bad score and amendments we have that's okay good that we aren't so thank you for the emails good stuff today as always always get some great comments and you know if if you're not you know -- on with some of the questions from the comments it's always some that made me chuckle. -- appreciate that a whole heartedly let's wrap -- today's program but getting you inside the patriots locker room enough on the docket. -- as far as the interviews for you -- they are in this order Wes Welker. -- walks and Rodney Harrison Benjamin Watson Mike Vrabel and Asante Samuel was pats get ready for. -- say it's on the snow bowl title on Sunday at 1 PM eastern -- called -- Gillette stadium. With the the bad weather headed this way and the jets headed this way as well. -- it's the pats locker room in the will be back same pats time same -- channel two --"
[1:41:08]" Was the -- and let them vote on that. The -- possibly could be responsible like point do you agree with us -- them. You know cardinals extra motivational against long season. I don't think so in -- just. You know trying to do our jobs out there and do the best we can with them and you know it's always can do. What happens. Mother nature back. You personally. You know an effect at all you know we're just gonna go on out there and and as best we can and make sure we focus and -- and you know here for the weekend. You played against them. I haven't you know they'll be definitely some new good you know. Balls skills and you get used to focus in an interior out there doing your job. In its schedule hospital. I played for the coach you know we'll win 100 different since you know the things that's usually -- I think we all you know every game play for each other and make sure -- you know we're in this thing together in and you know make sure that you know everybody's doing their job and and merry go on Sunday. You pay attention to rivalries things like that as as players you know -- not really too much you know I think you know every week is it is -- you focus the -- in -- This -- and you know maturity goes juices if you know you're playing a team that that was an arrival there. Of course with the jets team that we've won -- won you know while I don't know -- you know I mean you know there's there's there's still playing hard and you know -- really changed too much at all in other. That's in personnel changes and things like that that nine you know deepens and his name and and you know day it is your job complaining in and you know -- part of it was -- reason we will miss you know Amos is always you know -- focus in and and make sure their word on their doing our jobs and and I've prepared well and maturity. [1:44:25]" It is -- played a dozen of them have entered your mind and we like to. Strictly get another win yeah -- yeah."
[1:44:33]" Categorically news bears' strategy good enough to get older folk to focus on home and -- yeah yeah yeah. What I'm going to lose vocal works positive focus will do it. [1:46:30]" You pay attention with fans in particular week or I mean I'll talk until Eric. It's it's as players even not even as tight. Going out playing in the daily double to kind of casually on."
[1:46:45]" And I really only mostly what I used -- plans I don't. I pretty much when they went over it and I don't have a player over. I don't know religion players compounded."
[1:46:57]" President you you -- only -- that doesn't Friday doesn't motivate tomorrow."
[1:47:02]" I'm sorry -- Motorola has done. Little thin muscular didn't motivated I don't know. -- are going to do government you've -- brought a lot of the Pittsburgh your jets game couples should go what is it that you."
[1:47:18]" Just 310 shows that they now but I don't think it. Pull -- an -- on any given and it."
[1:47:23]" It's important Israel would be on the specter of power -- those guys understand where -- to win a little -- I've always. If you look at much an excellent rookie helped the team is once that now. Yeah cinema -- yeah. I mean. They're in the last few weeks they've their greatly improved team they beat Pittsburgh very competitive with Cleveland Browns could -- had opportunities when that ball.
