[0:00]" Stolen guns don't -- about another golf and I want to go -- and quiet and they've they've won mirror excuse patriots playbook got a -- back on. Breaking down last Sunday's game. And Ralph -- and these Gatorade really great. The rest of the 2000 and it. And some of the foreign stuff in between."
[0:41]" The play everybody four rather snowy Thursday as the patriots -- set for the New York Jets coming up this Sunday. At Gillette stadium on John -- Today is incredibly unique thing is I'm sure many of you undoubtedly aware and talk about the U of W guys here not to mention effective you know we're in the midst of getting about a foot of snow in the New England area here over the course the next 24 hours maybe even short effort -- and another big -- second storm to come through this area again in time for Sunday's game which certainly I think leaves somewhat -- Well let's -- this what the spread of this game was an NFL record 27 points. It is down to 23 and a half and may still be dropping because I think their a lot of people would consider the fact that if we've got thirty to forty mile an hour winds and you've got to driving snowstorm that are it's going on or even if you've just got the wind in particular that it's going to help keep the score down and we'll certainly talk about that throughout the course the date today that will be part of our discussion. But also in light of the fact that Major League Baseball is going through this rather tremendous momentous day in terms of the Mitchell report in the list of alleged you know steroid users and or abusers and or shall we say purchasers in this particular instance then is details want themselves in the interest of just general sports as large will. Pass on here what we've become privy to now. Can tell you that I saw what a couple of the preliminary lists that were jump around there was probably the original list of 76 name. That were on their -- Clemens was on there Andy Pettit was on there Jason Giambi was on there it's on the surprising ones to me that just because I know you'd want to know if you haven't already seen it it'd already been searching for yourself. The ones that kind of hit me a little bit by surprise Johnny Damon obviously Trot Nixon as I mentioned Jason Varitek the Red Sox is on that list rich Garces a former Red Sox pitcher Paxton Crawford rip -- pitcher wil Cordero Carl Everett I mean guys that have Red Sox ties. Didn't say that they were using when they were in Boston let's just say that you know obviously spent some time. In the Red Sox organization so I mean these are some of the names that have come across a Julian Tavarez from this last year's pitching staff for the Red Sox. His name is on this list that I saw so. -- let me say this that you know when when the official -- does become available -- and I become privy to -- I will share with you in the meantime we are going to try to continue to focus on what our football league today because that is what we do. On in the fact is the patriots do have this game it could be a rather momentous game depending upon the outcome of the final score. Of Sunday's game certainly over what we've learned over the last 2448 hours in terms of the jets potentially having violated some rules by videotaping you know -- or doing their own videotape being -- that they had. Patriots permission first of all I just I I find just really bizarre can imagine the patriots. And I probably should have mentioned this yesterday in the program and just you know press thought about Ron like that really --"
[3:54]" A lot of sense. One of the patriot ever hear the -- permission to do anything. I mean you know -- I thought those bridges were sort of barn wall when Eric Mangini left to go to the jets. And without bill belichick's necessary blessing. Or no sign of approval I think we've kind of seen that the relationship was strained then. So Singh has this has come afterward. Why -- the patriots have proven that all of a sudden not approve I just I don't get that part and there's obviously more to the story than what we're hearing what is being told that I don't know will ever really get the the bottom of the entire duke suffice it to set. And were oversimplifying here for the sake of trying to put things in order and then move Barton. Is that there's enmity between the two -- I aides did I might even be a little bit about not hatred there certainly envy. And the fact is is that when you play a team twice a year because they're in your own division you're going to Juan stay ahead of the other guys. You're going to want to win and you're gonna want to do one every it possibly take. To get that win at just the way it is that's the nature of the beast in pro sports. It still high you know -- I'm sure it will continue to follow will continue to talk about it as the situation warrants in his. Is new details become available on whether or not that the jets should be penalized what frankly I don't know I don't really have an opinion on it I mean I don't. It hurt part of my job is to be an opinion maker part of my job is to let you know what I -- you can and then perhaps form your own opinions from that's what. In only formats like this talk radio things like that that's what it's all about. I I'm I'm ambivalent. I don't normally admit that. But I want to kind of get away from the he said she said they and that's where I think this whole. Jets patriots you know they videotaped this first thing is going and that may be why the patriots are going to. Stay in low on this and and and in -- and you know hate were focused on this week's game and and that's it. You know soul whether the jets did or not right now I'm not sure is entirely relevant to what needs to happen on the field this Sunday. Bottom line as the patriots need to win. They don't need to win necessarily convincingly I think we're all we've all convinced ourselves that they should win convincingly that maybe they do need to win convincingly I don't think it's necessary. A win is a win is a win is a win. That's just the way it is and when you're thirteen and -- and you're staring immortality in its face. Which is what the patriots are doing right now than. All the rest is Canon fodder and it's just like it's useless info."
[6:41]" So in that regard -- will continue to kind of focus have been on the game coming up the program we're going to hear. From the two quarterbacks and ball we've got the conference calls in the in the news conferences with the Tom Brady and with the jets starting quarterback Kellen Clemens play for you here this afternoon we will also have some locker room sound little bit later on. -- Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison were those that took the microphones and rest questions today so will try to get some of that for you later on in the program. Russell Baxter of course the unifil research -- for ESP and he is do his regular visit on Thursday's with -- us provided he hasn't escaped Bristol with the snow here in the northeast but. I doubt very excerpts of that to be the case of so will -- chicken with -- Russell here in about 45 minutes from now and of course we have patriots head coach Bill Belichick Hutus well so there's a lot of stuff -- ago in the meantime let's get the emails pumped up and and crank it. Web radio act patriots dot com web radio. At patriots dot com if you'd like to call you certainly could do so 5 wait 543. 7482 again at 5 wait 5437482. Tell you could call us let's start right off with score predictions for Sunday and whatnot you think the weather will be a factor. Should it be a factor. Will -- be a factor. Views side with you know the point spread or do you think the patriots regardless of what happens is that enough emotion that will be on the field on Sunday they'll carry the patriots through. Onto a thorough thrashing of the jets. I think a lot of that is just don't."
[8:19]" Rated and like I told you earlier this week and we came -- you for a month from New York on Tuesday when origin of the show their Tuesday. This is before we learned a lot about the -- the jets alleged suppose it wink wink nudge nudge mean videotaping themselves. I just was not completely and totally sold on this being a rout of gargantuan proportions. I think a lot of it's overrated I think we would sometimes put too much weight on emotion in the game certainly plays a part no doubt. But I I am of the opinion. That emotion. And hatred to that point can only carry you so far. Because I just don't think it's within human nature to let hatred completely and totally -- view I think first of all we're forgiving society number one -- number two I don't you know what when someone smacked you upside the head you have a tendency to. Being in the moment and after that moment Wayne's. Then you tell me you gotta look gets back to decide ahead again before you you know and develop that that -- I don't think so I think football -- economy is a game of ebb and -- And I just don't think you can sustain. Just you know out hatred throughout a sixty minute ball that is on the answer while these guys are professionals and want to go up there and don't want to plays as hard as they can for as long as the camp you know bullying and end in thing in the these guys -- read this out and these guys are bad people and or whatever you want to thank it's too hot -- sustain you for sixty minutes football just impossible can't do it. Soared ten and think that you know. Am I in I was starting I guess my thoughts and originally we're going to be around 48 to six that's what I was kind of thinking 48. Thirteen somewhere in that vicinity wouldn't going to quite be the blowout that everybody thought it would be. And now that the snow is going to be here. In the weather looks like he's going to play -- rather means significant factor. In the outcome of Sunday's game I'm going to pare that back a little bit and I'm going to think the patriots are also. Probably thinking that -- try to pare that back a little bit and I do think that there is some credence the fact that there's nothing better. That these guys -- like duke and to pitch a big fat goose egg shut out on the -- And I think the weather conditions will help the patriots do. Wanted to go -- and eleven I'm gonna say patriots 34 jets zip. Thomas and 34 and now. I don't know that the patriots will score 34 I'm going to say that the weather's going to keep the score down a little bit. If the patriots are forced to run the football in all in and the jets know what's coming frankly I don't know that that entirely works in the patriots favor but I'm also banking on the fact the jets are going to turn the football over a couple of times. And the patriots will probably want to get off to a good start and try to jump on them early and then kind of coasted it. So that's why I'm gonna say thirty fours that that's my thought on Sunday. And so I don't normally give you my score prediction right off the top program but I want to know what you think about that prediction. You agree or disagree going to be a little higher than ever going to be a little lower than that obviously I I had didn't hesitate little bit because. Frankly the way the that the yum point spread -- come down from 27 to 23 and a half indicates that. In -- way there's there's there's sentiment if not out now money going on the jets because of the weather. Maybe to be more like 27 to six. Could be -- very well could be there's a foot or two of snow on the ground could be. Then of course that would justify being able to you know take that that -- But I'll stay with 34 zippers and now stands and in I want to know what you think about Sundays game and in -- and whether or not think that says. A realistic realistic point of view. Arm there are -- I'm sure you'll wear several milestones for the patriots -- approaching. All that they could. Meat or or surpassed."
[12:39]" This Sunday against the jets of course weather conditions and such permitting I I wanted to touch just on a few of them is quite frankly is the listed rather impressive. -- just in the event that you weren't aware oh what actually may be on its way. Fact is the patriots need one more win become just the second team in the NFL 88 year history. Begin a season with fourteen straight wins now obviously we know the 72 dolphins the only other team -- But again even this is one of those costs and so close to the forest I can't see the trees deals. But -- just the second time in 88 years that a team gets to fourteen wins without a loss."
[13:22]" I think that significant. May not mean much because obviously we know that you want to get the sixteen and annually to the nineteen but still fact is nobody else has done it so that's a significant. Milestone that could be. Net this Sunday. Patriots need to win on Sunday to become the third game in the NFL history to win fourteen consecutive games within a single season. 72 dolphins and the 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers also did what else did we see that came across here all patriots need the win on Sunday. To tie the 193334 Chicago Bears for the second longest. Regular season winning streak in NFL history which would be seventeen straight wins. When you go back into last season course the patriots own that record. With eighteen consecutive regular season wins are back in the 34 seasons."
[14:20]" Let's see what else we have patriots need to win tied a franchise record for regular season wins missed ever records fourteen in two so course this week would tie -- another win would break the all time franchise record. How about this one. That's the sort of like patriots need to win on Sunday to -- their all time series with the jets."
[14:44]" Wow this is the 97 will be the 97 game all time played. Between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots franchises. The jets lead the series 48 wins to 47 wins for the pats in one time. The patriots need to win to tie the time series with the tocchet how one sided it was a one time special although the recent years of course the patriots have dominated within their own division. What else can be reached the Sunday. Asante Samuel need to pick 37 of the year become the first player in patriots history. Record back to back seasons with seven or more interceptions. Course Renault Samuel had ten last year leave the NFL Kevin Faulk needs a touchdown -- on the sixteenth player in franchise history. To score at least 25 touchdowns in a patriots uniform. Troy brown needs to play this Sunday to past Ramon Kleber. For fourth place in the all time patriots games played list. --"
[15:54]" So those things that are certainly attainable this Sunday significant. Gracing them. Let's see what else is within your shot and I shut this weekend Laurence Maroney two rushing touchdowns in the nineteenth player in team history to get. At least ten rushing scores and New England uniform Wes Welker needs to touchdown reception to reached and which would make him the fourth player in team history to reach that. Which he would be the second one this year loans and Randy Moss has already gone above and beyond that number this year."
[16:30]" So those -- the unlikely numbers that will fall or could fall this Sunday and the game against the jets. There are several others that are. Certainly within reach Mike Vrabel needs half a sack to get and even on the season. That would be not only new career high for him to be the first patriot player with ten or more since Willie McGinest did it twelve years ago against -- eleven in 1995. Doesn't really seem like that's possible doesn't. And yet he gets a half a sack -- the first player patriot player in double digit sacks and McGinest in 95. Back it also happens week. Well Wes Welker nine catches is what he needs to have a new franchise record for receptions in -- season he's got 93 Troy brown holds the record of 101. Which he had in 2001 that's possible. Not likely. It really depends I guess but it's possible. Patriots need to score six touchdowns to set a new NFL record for most touchdowns in the season they have 65 the previous record seventy. But the 84 dolphins. Possible I'm not sure it's likely with the weather but certainly possible. On Sunday let's see anything else possible. Tom Brady five touchdown passes past and two snap Peyton Manning record of 49 in a single season possible. Randy Moss needs for Cuba snapped Jerry rice's record of 22 when he year possible not likely but possible. Knights of the ago that I wanted to run that bike is it I thought was impressive list of -- I am in some of the numbers there are numbers that you're think -- hope you know. Which we actually trying to get closer to these numbers as the season progresses here it's almost like wild we actually have a chance to see this happen."
[18:24]" And I think it's kind of -- especially if you appreciate history -- in the NFL if not history would in the patriots franchise those that are in long time fans and followers of the team you know the struggles. And you know the stories and seen numbers like this being pastors surpassed. Is significant without a doubt. Significant I was pause here for a timeout we got a lot of stuff to get through today will hear from the league quarterbacks Tom Brady and Kellen Clemens while Russell back -- join us here about a half an hour as well Wikipedia rundown on the of the pats of the jets and and the rest of the week fifteen action around the National Football League. What a locker -- sound to -- of course patriots head coach Bill Belichick John broke with the here on Thursday inside the patriots play."
[19:25]" And three time champion two time Super Bowl MVP and kicked off 2000 have a record pace. What he has to pitch patriots made replica helmet and you can't get more than forty. We from the New England Patriots is authentic mini helmet comes complete draft face mask and Tom Brady's autograph. Report every patriot fan. To take advantage of this incredible -- kind of all unique -- usually qualify -- what do you think of America patriots extra points visa cards -- your -- patriots extra points -- patriots experience -- pretty -- memorabilia -- much -- patriots extra -- dot -- Monday -- of -- patriots extra -- official people -- helmets autographed -- Tom -- patriot to -- and one."
[20:26]" Jimmy the big day and we've got to go patriots kick off and an hour let's make sure we got everything out right that C they paint -- helmet act foam thing is Jack Jack Jack Jack Jack. It got Jack -- ever."
[20:40]" Everything any. All -- That let's go now."
[20:49]" Check check check that's right if you really are true patriots and you need to open New England Patriots checking account from Bank of America today he'll get checks. Check cards and even bank statements Paul with the official New England Patriots logo Bank of America is the official bank of the the patriots to take advantage of this opportunity to make every day game day. Inside of the New England Patriots checking account today Bank of America bank of opportunity. Member FDIC proven patriots -- most including the patriots -- the property. The patriots okay."
[21:30]" Tailgating in the parking lot throwing the pigs get around to just hang in in in watching the game on the tube is all about football. And when you're not watching footballer playing football well I think we both know you're thinking football and all that can make you a little Hungary. That's why there's a -- neck wrap from McDonald's neck grabbed now govern your choice of three labor's huge -- to barbecue honey mustard in ranch and they're available with grilled -- crispy chicken. Delicious and easy to eat it's the perfect game time neck grab one today and when you do. If you're looking at that you can elect any kind of remind you of the quarterback in the middle of the pocket and now he's surrounded by cheddar -- Jack -- rent -- well BP you're thinking just a little too much about football McDonald's I'm lovin' it."
[22:21]" I -- Authentic taste of Gillette stadium that you okay all right home tackle that appetite -- patriots gridiron Grilli and try to. Fourth down franks of the wide variety of flavors at home. Gridiron drillers are all you need for the for the perfect -- go home barbecue check out all the patriots gridiron good. The patriots. Patriots rebellion drillers. Brothers -- very hard Johnson's. Growers when you just can't wait for --"
[23:27]" Back inside playbook for the first day here pats get ready for the New York Jets on -- hand its web radio at patriots dot com. I programs you take a look at while trying to dodge snowflakes as well as trying to continued to a set up you know just the various story lines involved with the play in this football game on Sunday not the least of which will be the weather. On -- a look now at the the two quarterbacks and ball to his game on Sunday obviously Tom Brady's head. Himself a year that may not ever be surpassed by a quarterback in this league hard to say that it won't ever be but let's put it this. This is one of the better years that an individual quarterback as ever. Head he's challenging the completion percentage record in the the pacers' rating record for single season it looks like he will end up getting the touchdown pass his record is touchdown to interception ratio well it's phenomenal one in we can go on and on and we have and I think it's sort of taken for granted county you're the robberies had but it's an interest in contrast in scenarios. Guy who's at the top of his game against a guy who is fighting for his professional life and Kellen Clemens. Who certainly wasn't even the start of this team. When the two teams played. Earlier this season which still Chad Pennington and Clemens this will be his seventh start he's -- for as a starting quarterback for the jets. Nobody knows where he'll be if you even really beat with the jets next year so he has an opportunity like. Few -- really get a chance to have if he could lead his team to would be considered a monumental upset on Sunday. Policy that we need a little different perspective from these two guys going into this particular match on Sunday started off you patriots quarterback Tom great."
[25:15]" Yeah he told us get through surveys little bits of yourself. In general is excited about that."
[25:22]" Yeah guys. We knew we wanted him badly injured --"
[25:36]" I don't think we'd better batters anything pets though. I think it's it's a good team you know we've got a great history with this team it's always been very competitive when we played them they are very talented players are very well coached. Explosive team you know we played in the playoffs last year and and in. They're very difficult team to prepare for especially offensively. Because they do so many things and you know big test for us and it's -- division rival you know we're all excited to play and I hear what people oldest one's really going to mean I'm just like the other thirteen didn't mean anything you know we put everything we can into it every week so I hope we brought their their best game of the year hopefully we make improvements it. -- we need to make and things we didn't do so well last few weeks I think everyone's excited about. Playing the jets not thinking like cares about revenge here. I don't know what they said about -- anything like that. -- I think Graham fun you know I think we're really enjoy ourselves finally win we've we've put a lot into every weekend. This off season conditioning program and but I think -- difficult schedule this year it's a very difficult games on the road. You know we come out these games and everyone's excited and a hopefully it -- becomes apparent by the way we play it. Yeah energy that we train it's been a fun year it's fun when you win every time he takes the field and it's been exciting for the game."
[27:32]" I was -- we'll actually it won't matter. Have any doubts kiss -- legitimacy."
[27:44]" Yeah well. Well I mean look it up and every week so I mean it's it's something that people say or do lower. And I can't control -- and and I think what we can control is our own attitude what's important to us and been great strategy. And you know we're trying to use things as motivation of course you do is a long season and we've. You know this team has made improvements and Lotta areas and we need to continue to find -- to make improvements and you've played team like the jets who knows extremely well who's got. You know we know how well coached they are they're great coaching and a great players and a they played very hard and you -- of this last Cleveland game and her friend is hard they're playing like you know they're the ones that work. Twelve and -- at times so. We're trying to we're trying to be the best we can be and we're trying to make improvements on the practice field in the games that. You know one week it's one thing and actually took us another almost like he would if -- inquire you know I mean. Didn't ever want to make this of that and that's not the case we're just trying to throw it. Truly achieve got to a potential and that's that's the reality. This first group match. I have I have no idea don't I don't follow them a whole lives. I think Golden State Warriors. How much of a dynasty. -- grow up. Potentially --"
[29:29]" Calling her. Blizzard on on Sunday and let the potential impact my dad lineup and I knew."
[29:39]" Yet the weather's changed around here quite a bit so. We've we've been very fortunate this year to have great weather pro side from the Baltimore game and the way he's been relatively. Nonexistent hasn't been too cold anything but it. I mean I have bad weather game -- here. What level of awareness and concentration has to go up duty you you can't take anything for granted the center quarterback exchange becomes important handles the running -- become important. I don't know when conditions -- makes things difficult to throw the ball fairly outside part of the field down on the field you try to you know every team always try to. Just complete balls -- guys -- so I think we didn't games over the years that's. And whether played have played a factor again we try to practice outside as much so we can't as well it's. He -- those elements. Aren't you at all."
[30:41]" Or -- premed."
[30:48]" Some I've ever -- I don't I don't think. And going playing the jets this week them and they do I want to play for their trying to get better and improve as well -- they're like every other team and you know they're not in the playoffs but -- the same time they hit three games and those players have a lot of pride and they play very Harden and I have a lot of respect for those 'cause there's only playing with the battle every single time we plan that. Hard fought game and you know playing those guys twice here you if you do get a lot of respect for their ability and their toughness and the discipline and we agreed. A lot of great qualities that they have as a team that you know I'm sure air when he was here he brought to them and that they had you know reporter got -- I don't think so cheap players I think they're very tough hard -- just from players and you're playing football and they're very explosive it of Russia skill positions it defensively make a lot of plays that let interceptions eleven straight change the perceptions heroes got focused on the last four games so. Should give challenge game."
[32:01]" It's a harder. I'll -- just belittling your okay -- I don't know when guys. How okay. He'll -- college you know part of it is free agents."
[32:23]" Well we've we've left quite a few guys over the years and and the thing about what those guys commonly -- coaches have come out laughing and I think the foundation -- the team and and -- both church versus has remained the same. Every time we walk and adore this sport things on tour that are reason I walk out before things that are agrees on the way out. You know comes back to doing her job and we -- for yourself and you know my favorite is his manager expectations and and I think as a team we try to. Focus on the things we can control it and if people want to say good things are bad things. If for example this week mean records and I don't mean anything your 310 -- you know you're going into a game where. They don't care what record we have we don't -- record they have because. They're people winning games and we're capable of losing games and unless you put forth each week and focus on. The short term goals and you lose track of the big picture and it's worked -- since I got here and and it has been front we have our organization that. You know you don't that you're just read all your press clippings and so -- you know we can ever be vidor you know you lose real critical players in critical coaches and feeling that you know you're just roll -- into next season now part of what makes it. Injury Gordon -- In the success of the team and franchise is they. You put a lot into it head and you know every week for the game you have an extra start making you know you -- locker room here. You know you're searching for breath and run around fielder -- extra nerves every time he played because you feel like you don't know welcomed going to be. And that's part of competitive --"
[34:10]" Aren't there aren't -- Missouri tigers guys would."
[34:19]" I know let's go to that that's a big key for them and yeah. And you know just like -- as an offense we try to disguise things we do you just don't really want to lineup and say well in this formation and you know here and play that you seen on film for the last six weeks that's. They do really good job to disguise and in hand. A lot of things they did last year and could get a lot of walk around stuff they did it all out blitz they run a lot of all -- You know we try to prepare for everything we go through again he never really want to have surprises you really want to have answers for what they're doing good. You know America I've come -- some new look that we haven't prepared for him and I think it's a teamwork and have to really concentrate on every play. If it doesn't turn out exactly how we practice. We're going to have to be able to adjust on the field and a couple of good decision making it. It's a very challenging team to prepare for they do a lot of different things they do a lot of different things very well. And if you Lucia for one play that we did last year in addition your -- you know -- to make plays -- and really play well and they're a ball."
[35:28]" So -- that's Tom Brady from earlier at Gillette stadium and -- of his thoughts on trying to. Match up a bit with the jets and you know I have to admit that I'm not entirely surprised that unity -- here athletes especially like Tom downplayed the significance of the rivalry in downplay the significance of com the fact that the jets blew the whistle on the patriots so to speak in. -- downplay the fact that their rallying around behind their coach in an effort to. Shore up his name and his football abilities and all -- that is not because if you let too much of that getting into the equation more than you lose sight of the fact that you're there. To win a football game period and for nothing more than to win the game and move on the next week. It's trite -- cliche nobody wants to hear it but that is indeed what I think the overwhelming majority. Of the guys on the team you want to do."
[36:26]" The other stuff does enter into the equation to an extent. But as I suggested earlier when it comes right down to letting hatred drive you you gotta have something more substantial that because you just can't sustain it. And so in this particular instance I don't that you could sustain. The quote on quote dislike for the jets not on the football that we may be able to sitting in the stance we may be able to but we're not there. You know. Knocking each other upside the head like guys are and of course. The players. They know each other lot of them are friendly. Lot of them have played together in the past. If so that automatically going to watered things down on the -- with a -- you realize that one it would minute that is in fact the case."
[37:13]" So you know. Can't say that it really surprise me and I know you probably hoping for a little bit more but that's just the way it works with a guy like Tom Brady in in the but it will take his were pretty much for gospel it now anyway. On the flip side of the story is of course jets quarterback Kellen Clemens who's -- Michener his. Managed to -- six starts in his NFL career stepping in for Chad Pennington when it was deemed he was. You know either not able because he's just not able -- too banged up or. The jets wanted to go to for direction or or for what about a number of reasons and probably some truth to. Just about anything that you throw out there right now but. Fact is that that's who the jets are going to hang in there at on this weekend. -- another thought into the wolves -- they really think they have a chance to stay in the game who knows but it is an unbelievable. In -- believable opportunity for a young man who could certainly. Forges way further in the National Football League and into career if he's able engineers an upset of what would be you know tremendous proportions on Sunday if they knock off the patriots. With radio at patriots dot com don't forget -- email your scores whether you think the patriots will cover. This current point three and a half points spread on Sunday whether. Conditions could be a factor. That's what I want to hear from what's going to happen let me know what you think the score will be and why web radio. Patriots dot com are let's get off now to would jets quarterback in the conference call members of the patriots media its jets quarterback Kellen Clemens."
[38:54]" Are you. You just started off by talking about the challenge coming up here to Foxboro and they in the New England Patriots."
[39:07]" yeah that this could help pick up at one place to start that the very came across or he's you know other -- do great things you know also know -- at Foxboro you know we're up there a couple of -- not. It is just split it'd do it and and do great jobs or their team you know work work down there working hard and buried for what is it was a great opportunity for a."
[39:39]" I don't know who -- just talk about how much you guys have spoken about the possibility of inclement weather and and playing in the snow in. How that might affect what you will do in this game."
[39:50]" Well we've well we've had sent -- a little bit last in the last couple weeks so we've got a chance to you know play around us know little bit don't work so you know work where. We're ready for that happens but we're definitely not going to let it you know psyched about it. You know should there be bad weather anything else -- We'll do -- best player whatever conditions. You know the -- on Sunday."
[40:18]" And how much has that been discussed today added to this point I assume you guys came in today and sort of started going over the game plan and I'm just curious if there was at all -- point of -- as I was delivered yet that game plan."
[40:31]" It thought and I thought this what -- you change your forte is we're all aware that you know the way they might not beside me in. You know 65 degrees but you know word we're delighted they were gonna go we're gonna we're going to play you know. Of the best football that we can on Sunday regardless of of what the weather's been best. Well look at my password problems buried in the first game of this year and the game was. Pretty well out of hand about for a bit -- any that I get they get any game you know helps knowing myself but I think -- my confidence and you know it's try to take it just there is -- provinces and and improve upon you know for the next."
[41:33]" When you look at it at one corner spot you -- 22 -- they. Samuel out what what do you see in him as a corner."
[41:41]" Both are obviously very very talented player is great instincts has great ball skills one reason why he has so many interceptions over the last few years and these guys you have to be aware obviously got that that we respect."
[41:58]" As as you were preparing for this or as you started to prepare -- for this for this game. And you notice that teams -- really testing him much at least that it seems that way to me just from sort of -- in the game."
[42:14]" yelling at Washington and watching tape. Of course I don't know if teams aren't what the Philadelphia game it was. A few times and 181 interception took back out some you know one interception there late in the game and it was you know Israel to back it is only that but our teams. Well there's the most auto approach but you know agencies as talented a lot of times you know that particular wide receiver that maybe he's guarding. Robert just a credit to his ability. It's."
[42:53]" But on the other side with -- Ellis Hobbs what do you see from bonds."
[42:57]" Basically go another guy I was with a lot of talent when he was down here you know well it is is that the dual threat he is it good. Defensive back but obviously he has the the talent to take it deep in the return game the at least we have a lot of respect for doing it the other they're very talented in the secondary that's veteran linebacker -- and also on the -- doesn't want you know they're expensive all of you know very talented and you know we would like -- that we have a lot of respect for. You know I think maybe -- some other teams -- do that you know we have our own specific. I guess plans sometimes go to each individual game. And you know we'll try to pick the game where your business is we can't."
[43:59]" Is the mindset."
[44:14]" Yeah other. This is the most important game of the week were more closer like that our our approach each week for the entire season has been saying you know we're trying to. We keep that they consistent approach each week. And you know obviously there's there's perhaps a little more hyped about this game because of new England's record in and -- out there you know chase -- to try to do something that the only one other team has done an L history but -- New York Jets Sweden we can control we can control. And so are our approach is consistent we just. Going to prepare as best we can't and then hopefully you know play -- game on on Sunday."
[45:13]" Thank you very much. Thank you. And Clemens in the work. Of the -- Jets -- visiting with members of the patriots media via conference calls continue with patriots playbook -- patriots dot com radio pats of the jets coming up on Sunday your emails again web radio -- patriots dot com what were were talking about today of course so we've got the the George Mitchell report and Major League Baseball the steroids report coming out today is well for those that means you know maybe caught at work -- not able to stream and in carry all that stuff. Or at least get to everything all at once you know I realize of course there's great interest in this and so I'm I'm going to paraphrase just a couple of things here. Only because of the significance of the story in the overall and the on a professional sports here although we know the football -- that somewhat differently than Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball has nobody to blame but itself and I think that's in a nutshell what senator George Mitchell has set in his report today over. 30400 pages long and it's it's it's a monster but. You know -- others and significant name's Roger Clemens is definitely unit and -- it Miguel Tejada is -- Barry Bonds is in it several of the names that I haven't yet gotten to as I've read through it and another people are still trying to decipher it and get to there were rumors. You know that was certain from soccer players out there and and still trying to make sure that we get confirmation. On all those before all is said and done based on what we know in the report. It boils down to the fact though that there was one page particular page 169 mr. -- Where an actual injection in -- Clemens his hind quarters was detailed. Detailed but Brian Mac means the former New York Yankees trainer who worked with both Clemens and Pettitte. And someone who was interviewed believe like three times by senator Mitchell. In this particular steroids human so calm. I find that kind of interesting in in you know it if it is indeed true. Is Clement was singled out an eight different pages in this report with the some of the information coming from that -- obviously. Then them that's just you know that's shame I mean. You'd like to think that there are some people that would just go down in history as being kind of a freak. Telling Nolan Ryan you know on another been a lot of allegations about what he might have a might not have done. During his time because he was able to have you know in a lot of ways it's more effectively after he reached the age of forty. Com just. Just kind of makes me shake my head I'm I'm sad. For baseball on sad for professional sports I'm sad for fans I'm set for my son who's crushed by a couple of names that are on the list. You know he's thirteen and he's not sure who to believe what to believe -- anymore I'm just sad. In baseball has nobody but itself to blame for this. And you have to start right at the top and and I've actually in the last couple years relief appreciated more or what Bud Selig has done for baseball as opposed to which so many people -- you know hammered him for. What he's not done for baseball. But unfortunately this is knew where his legacy is going to lie. He was the commissioner during the steroids decade and that's one of the things -- as well that you know senator Mitchell report says that for more than a decade there has been widespread anabolic steroid use in baseball. Everyone involved in baseball over the past two decades commissioners club officials players association players shares to some extent the responsibility for the steroids era. There was a collective failure to recognize the problem as that he merged -- deal with the early on."
[48:59]" You know while I don't does that come as a surprise to me -- shouldn't come as a surprise -- you probably know. But there it is it's underscored black and white. And it's just it's it's a said that it's been -- said that in the fallout from this is going to have trickle down effect it's gonna touch everybody in professional sports. Basketball baseball football hockey -- winks race cars it's gonna touch ever. And now whenever somebody's performance improves markedly. You gonna raise an eyebrow. You gotta go on the Jews did -- do something illegal you -- if you don't already do what you're certainly going to now. Because these guys in baseball they were blatant about it. You know blood tests are illegal in baseball can only you don't get tested you know won't bite you know we -- samples and course a lot of the stuff that took especially as GH not detectable. With the urine sample we learn this one with the -- Rodney Harrison story earlier this year."
[50:05]" So yeah I'm a little surprised you know I guess I'm a little less hit in the gut that I might have been early when I was reading the rumored to report in the rumored to list of names that were out there but obviously I guess when it has chance to sink in and said in forbid you know I hope at least now we can kind of move on -- I think that was the whole idea behind releasing the -- and doing. A senator Mitchell twenty month report -- so baseball could try to move past this and do what was good for the sport. And he had a start like climbing clay you just can't. And so. That's pretty much where we are was this an inning in his is of the details become available will pass the month to you here is as we -- of them in his -- particularly of them as. I know that you know I'm sure that there are many viewers somewhat distracted today certainly watch patriots fix I understand that completely which is why we're going to continue to do that today. This is a football show after all and I understand that is well. But you also have to realize and and I think deep down you probably do that the overall significance of the story. A surrounding Major League Baseball today is going to have an effect on all of sports. All of us it will have an effect on how we look at things -- our players and owners and in in fans act and react from here on out. No matter the sport. This is all encompassing news but is coming about today so we're going to share a a bit you know bits and pieces here and it is definitive. Things are said and made public will -- it is web radio at patriots dot com that's how you reaches here today my name is John -- We'll pause here for another timeout Russell backs would join us here in just a couple of moments and then we will also little bit later on in the second hour of the program today get into the patriots locker room we've got some sound to pass along view from junior sale. And Rodney Harrison of the patriots defense as they prepare for the jets. We'll also hear from head coach Bill Belichick deliberately Enron in the program as well from earlier today at Gillette. Weather is undoubtedly a huge factor this weekend but will be a factor in your mind and in your eyes. The points Brady is shrinking. It's gone from 27 which was a record -- 123 which is well no longer record that pressure."
[52:30]" Will the weather be a factor and how so in your estimation. What do you think the outcome of Sunday's game will be web radio -- patriots dot com. Pick a couple of emails and we'll have Russell Baxter coming up here on the other side and patriots playbook."
[52:47]" He's been a three time champion two time Super Bowl MVP and kicked off 2007 a record base. Now Tom Brady is -- official patriots -- replica helmet and you can't get 140. [54:48]" Well it's anti mean here again we're Sunday means you're doing something football whether -- delegating in the parking lot throwing the -- get around to just hang in in in watching the game on the -- is all about football. And when you're not watching football or playing football well I think we both know you're thinking football and all that and making a little Hungary. That's why there's that tasty snack rap from McDonald neck -- now coming your choice of three flavors did you -- to barbecue honey mustard and ranch and they're available with grilled crispy chicken. Delicious and easy to eat it -- perfect game -- neck. -- one today. And when you do if you're looking at that you can collectively kind of remind you of the quarterback in the middle of the pocket he and now he's surrounded by interject -- ran -- and let us. -- BP you're thinking just a little too much about football. Macdonell I'm -- it."
[55:44]" Authentic taste of Gillette stadium you're okay all right home. Tackle that appetite what -- patriots gridiron -- tried to. Sausages or twelve -- of patriots brought a wide variety of flavors. I -- drillers are all you need for the perfect don't you go home barbecue check out all the patriots gridiron great. It -- patriot. Some homework. Patriots gridiron drillers. We're brothers are very far Shaw's. -- when you just can't wait for Sunday."
[56:41]" Welcome back as we continue with our number two patriots playbook here again -- patriots dot com radio. From now joined -- Russell Baxter had to -- courted for ESPN Russell wood is always. Division we are hoping you're able to look -- few -- So complex where you are."
[56:58]" Well what you have a little one now and basically daycare centers going to close that means he's picked the little one up and bring them home so where we're at the palatial Baxter's fate today because the coach tub buried somewhere Anderson's double we got it we get muscled arm governor stuff."
[57:14]" You know we do -- year in a 24 to -- who wouldn't want. That's the -- Moscow that is very true we also had to pick up children from school earlier today. So that's -- were partially at home as well when it works."
[57:28]" And it didn't it great modern media that's the good part of the I suppose I paid at all seriousness I did dished out nineteen years ago via fax machines floppy -- mean no we email right. You know I don't know how would get out of so that we should that many entities that would I do it now for without email and so on at I don't know we essentially stopped yeah that's true. And -- either. We didn't and some people wish -- that opened up the back but the city inherited the total new world."
[58:01]" It is very true I think before we jump into this week schedule I'd be remiss if I didn't ask what you -- your initial response was to the Mitchell report coming out today is that it is such a -- and all encompassing story and it's a story that obviously goes beyond just baseball. And it's going to touch I think every sport and it's going to touch everything and in this country at some point numbers were on now going to. Raise their eyebrows to exceptional extraordinary even performances no matter the sport."
[58:31]" It's a far cry from pop hiatus spinach isn't it true we on. And it's -- I mean guys funny I -- I won't name them but I heard I heard a talk show host this -- refer to today's report is. Feel like a kid in the candy store and I hit quite the opposite impression. Because and that that they write you know like I don't like every athlete. And so but you know it just won't wear black guy in which has been. A lot of on. Punches to the solar plex is professional sports the last two years it means and we hurting atomic the -- thought Iraqi leader along in the ballot we we just had a week where. But he quarterback where -- Quebec for teams go to jail for 23 -- the head coach decides to resign today. Quite -- debatable way. Take that a job that's about a week and half removed from national football play league player being murdered. You know and that that's not steroid issue it. And now when you seeded teams that you see you'd that are running all over the bottom scroll at the end and so on it. I'm sure that kind of break a lot of heart for a lot of people I don't know what else is in this report. And so on and and doubt are at our -- out -- that the names are released a little more publicly at someone. Because I'm not a big baseball fan -- it won't even recognize -- right. It's -- it it's at its into shape to cheating has now become a practice. A lot of things we talked about in the world of sports and not an accurate kicking themselves all over there's been -- seemingly an -- that goes on in our in our professions if it -- for some of us who. Believe in the old fashioned way and I mean it -- amused the way I was raised and so one. It's it's disheartening. You -- disheartening and you know -- I I'd like I mentioned before it right now have a young child you have kids and you know not to make it melodramatic that. What he had to explain some is that your kids."
[1:00:34]" I got to kind of talking about the big as my youngest is thirteen -- a names on this list. And he's kind of like wow he really did them. And I'm like well now let's just wait until we read the whole thing in but let's just say if his name is on this list he certainly knew was associated with purchasing them."
[1:00:53]" Yes I mean you know who the child when you and I've grown up we heard legends of lower that people repeat hot dog I mean that it took me almost immediately I thought. And you know that was the stories of the you know being able to shut down a -- the home run. Again that was the closest substance abuse depending on what it's that hot dogs but now it's it's it's the dirty work out there and kissed. It's a different world I mean sometimes you need to be slapped in the -- right now but early early in the world out there with the world in general ballot in the sports world as well."
[1:01:28]" There's a lot of B Russell that wish we could go back to that day in that time no matter how naive in my being."
[1:01:34]" If that it. I hope we get -- email we go back only to continue to get like no doubt that."
[1:01:40]" And I let's put Charlotte and Portland yeah absolutely no stoppage time on what it's all day. There -- and it just you know one of those things that as -- of the industry now I'm. Parents insurance about this you know and all of a sudden we start out with this 27 point spread it seems to be shrinking -- because maybe the there might play a factor. Are you of the opinion that whether it is the I guess what a better word for the in this equalizer to all things that happen on a football field."
[1:02:13]" I don't look at an equalizer I think it depends on the style or you play I -- I I think your read a team and the I don't know it so much snow like being -- you -- are. If you are indeed any. Seen it throws a lot obviously win does that factor. Okay but I remember game a couple of years ago with it is snowstorm in. And a at the meadowlands it Curtis Martin running all over Pittsburgh Steelers -- 170 yards because that's the kind of style they played it was just picked up in game it was up and yet he -- it but that the team that was able to run the football and that's the powerful only played they had no problems so I've seen scenes. Excel in bad weather snowstorms I think I think it's also I don't think it is an equalizer I think it -- that -- the field as bad. He can sometimes be an equalizer but. The good team just that that the good teams don't care they find a way to get it -- com India jet and that's what you find with the New England Patriots as we takeaways you know. Whether for them and -- was they get the very famous snow games up at Foxboro you know do you believe that. Tuck rule game which is the Vinatieri kicked a lot of people think it was a great kick. In NFL history even more over the when he kicked the Super Bowl but the infamous snowplow game which was not -- by the way couldn't believe there was -- rule on the books -- the line and from differ for Mark Henderson. What the obviously the most famous snowplow guy John -- right and so on but I just think the good teams find a way to adjust their game they find a way to get it done. But sometimes you have such. Creepy conditions they're obviously a factor to pick to merely and I say that nearly a snowstorm. I don't think it's nearly the equalizer that are I think that it."
[1:04:13]" K well then. You're you're saying that perhaps had the very least -- patriots have more than enough to complete this route I guess that the fans expect."
[1:04:22]" Well I keep on hearing that is going to be a blow out so you know I'd I'd get a doubt I'll watch it now because it's you know -- every kind of been predetermined I would like to think."
[1:04:35]" Well you're not like everybody else Russell and that -- you don't lookin' for blood out there like the patriots fans are."
[1:04:42]" Now like I I think. I kinda think did you show up I know what everybody wants. I'll Embraer you know it's funny if you think about it we just used it cutbacks. And I -- the jets situation different -- the ravens and eagles those two high price spreads we saw earlier in the year resulted in the patriots closest gain to beat. So I know I know what people want I know I I've heard my friend doubt they that. Mike Greenberg predicted 63 to thirteen score right for his beloved New York Jets and out victor green -- to Mark the but although I I I don't I think. I'd be curious to watch how this goes because I think the jets will come in here with little bit of purpose we all we knew that doing what comes in with a lot of purpose. So you know -- this thing that did that it did patriots justice or will it put deputy points on the board with a snap -- technical. I don't think it works that way in any sport regardless of circumstances regardless of revenge factor and so on -- you know war we had. Instances you know I was -- this week about like wreak revenge teams and so you know I think -- great you remember this story. What that doubt cowboys in the total equalled the play in 1987 -- Even -- the issue was decided people. Note to buddy rice didn't have any it players crossed the picket line. The public ever get blown out in doubt the eagles they had eagles released and fielded it not competitive team to strike. But with the -- courtly touched down at the issue well decided at least Tom -- put too tall Jones Randy white back in the game. And that infuriated but he right yeah so much so you know I don't remember that later in the year the eagles Kallis played a real game. At Philadelphia it would -- decided in the equals the thirty to twenty Randall Cunningham took a couple of these like they were running up the clock. One of those these pop back up -- packed up the at a -- interference call pledged another touchdown and maybe 37 point. That's pretty good revenge yeah it is okay although do you remember that story yeah I mean -- I know were probably thinking -- the year but. I don't know if it's it's not impossible to imagine if only because of how prolific. The patriots -- sport this year. -- never wicker -- eleventh seeded knowledge and and -- that -- three point two way. From from kind of vikings record 98 if I could be six by the way I think just my own general knowledge research. And I never -- it today is that the worst loss suggests history administered by the New England Patriots. In 1979 to 5063."
[1:07:47]" Yes yes I believe I believe that was actually brought up. After the the the opening week -- yeah."
[1:07:54]" Yet somehow somehow just -- quick chance to score and going to the media guide that what kind of stick out to be so. I'm going to get to not -- dispute broke it up like."
[1:08:04]" Yeah well you know what I don't think you'll be there and I said this before and you know -- I know well there -- so many fans that want to see that you know 6313 type thing like green predicted -- I am of the opinion in and I don't you agree or disagree your but I'm of the opinion that I think by nature it's hard to sustain that kind of shall we say efforts on the field. Or even sustain that kind of hatred on the field and when you get hit upside the head have a tendency to take care of your business and focus in the casket and try to block or whatever in front of view and emotion almost kind of takes a backseat and I don't know how easy it is effect I'd wager very difficult to sustain. That kind of emotion. That you have to have an extraordinary set of circumstances occur. On any given game in order to be able to hang -- hundred on somebody and then shut the the guy out."
[1:08:55]" I don't think there's any question about it I -- that -- that you could make the case that the patriots pretty much had a little. Slumber for two would have quarters -- against the eagles were the ridden very competitive game against Baltimore and the first half of the last week eight -- us not forget that he didn't score went up 3413 and I thought that I thought what. What New England did after stopping Pittsburgh inside the five. And going down ninety something new market controlling the clock. That was the brilliance of of showing their domination and acting but you know. It was 1713 game with a half and so I put New England really kind of got its swagger back in the second appendectomy. Last week because of the way they scored I know they had to pick -- the most for the touchdown last week in the first half. But I took -- that the -- the -- that the second half and I think so that they can beat them. Have that swagger in the first after the season. Really kind of reestablished in the second half of last week yeah. Everything else has a lull that we like no one's going undefeated in 35 years and that's why we once he has done it in eighty --"
[1:10:11]" And it's just harder to have a lol now the season is longer -- in just it's it is."
[1:10:17]" Yes that's what people forget everything about matching the dolphins record of seventeen had to build the patriots going to have to break -- You can't beat it going to have to break that be great you know but -- the patriots do have a wreck. A 21 straight game they do okay they're the only team that's what we made the point earlier in the year if you go strictly by history in fact. There's only there's no other team in NFL history they can be cleaned winning nineteen games in Toronto. In the New England Patriots Byrd -- ever done."
[1:10:52]" This is true -- then. I suppose where this game is concerned on Sunday we're going to find out if there are any weaknesses on the patriots team for the long haul and cigarette for the playoff push and -- That it could -- exposed a little because if the conditions are such where will make it tough to throw the football going to fight out of the patriots team and he can run. And beat defend the run which suited to trouble spots right now."
[1:11:17]" Right and I think you let that. I Thomas Jones who is is is one better the last three or four weeks almost certainly get his opportunities I think if you look at it and you fall behind and I don't know they're going to fall behind. There I think one way they could stay in the game has great he's got it to continue to run. I think what happens a lot of times with teams issues -- appeared in the runs so quickly that the difference between throwing what you want to and throwing what you have to do a monumental they've -- jet skidded to a game where they have to -- Post accused -- they're going to be in the world of trouble and that helped his team could get -- again very very quickly."
[1:12:01]" You know Thomas Jones is still rushed for almost a thousand yards and -- everybody says that the jets. Offensive line has been somewhat maligned -- I would say that he hasn't had quite the impact but maybe a lot of people thought he could have. But has he really had that awful season."
[1:12:16]" No we had no obvious I think. I think it took him a little while to get into the group member little banged up during the summer and I think people thought he was instantly going to come in here. In all of a sudden. You know become a 1500 yard back. Well our our -- that this that this is not a knock on accomplished you know but a lot of time there's there's a reason Thomas Jones is on his fourteen. Since 2000. Okay and put the cardinals -- the puck he's plate for the bears there's probably. He he he he's not an all start to act he could very very good quality that. But if he's that good little player and get about trying to be disparaging -- You don't let that -- a -- keep -- getting away. So I'm not saying there -- journeyman QB right now Thomas Jones is resurrect his career the couple years with the -- Okay he had that look like. That back. From last year he gets kinda look like that back for the 2005. Re cut the little hot during later in the year after he was blow up more consistent but of course last year the jets as a football team. -- a lot more consistent."
[1:13:30]" This is true. All right so well it's probably going to mean come upon the jets to run the football with Thomas Jones is much they can and and."
[1:13:37]" I don't think there's any question about it John you I think. I even despite I'll go back to last week gave him despite the fact it is or was 3113. I took the Pittsburgh Steelers selection of plays inside the five -- recite the ten yard line. Early early early in the fourth quarter. Showed me what we talked about last week and they are not a power football team but people think they are -- and since the word you know right. But the fact that they chose to wait to punch the ball the end zone and never got there. I would've been 3120 game with fourteen minutes left her. Plenty of time then to New England Patriots showed what they did best and -- took the ball -- speedier ninety -- the other way. With the neutral passing game right. Pittsburgh law that much on the clock. Now if they would've gotten another stop after 3120 we might be totally different game but that's what Steelers. At some people scratching their heads right now that's where the patriots stolen speed."
[1:14:39]" Yeah I think that it was a very poorly coached game and half."
[1:14:42]" Why we're here's what I will -- throw one more thing about Pittsburgh true but we're going to talk about that later against Jacksonville. My -- and show his. Inexperience as a head coach I think indicate they applaud this year they got out coached in Arizona and I think a lot of that had to -- Effected the Arizona coaching staff might have known him. Their team better the steeler coaching staff which it was at the screen. They got out coached in Denver. Particular had a big day potent teams were coming off bye week. Okay so ever had two weeks to get ready -- forget that we carry the water jets was another instance where -- head coach said. Two weeks to get ready for the Steelers. Last week -- Bill Belichick. -- you can read the Bill Belichick. 48 hours and work hard and studies and coach them so by a couple of done an excellent job of giving oral. But he still coaches coached thirteen games."
[1:15:41]" That's right. -- one tackle that that Jacksonville Pittsburgh game from home is both teams are nine and for both teams certainly are going to be in the playoffs Pittsburgh going to try to see if they can't put a stranglehold on the division opinion on what happens with Cleveland as well this weekend what are your thoughts in this particular instance and did the Pittsburgh loss to the patriots this past weekend and then someone. Terrible for this weekend."
[1:16:05]" I think at least -- for global liberal for the rest of the year to be honest with you and they really need to get a win here because they've not played overly well on the road. This is their last home game this season. Go to get to Jacksonville team that beat -- each of the last two years once down on Monday night in two years ago in Pittsburgh although that was talking addicts. Throwing an interception in overtime that -- so what the Ben Roethlisberger -- spartans need to reestablish its box -- And this in the Cleveland Browns are breeding them reading part the other neck until the Steelers beat him quite. Right now the viewers are kind of look like an ordinary football team backed. Ford or outside their own division. Five you know within the division but they kind of look like an ordinary team. When they have these teams outside your division for both teams are missing key defensive former pro bowl lineman Marcus Stroud is out for the year project about. Erick Smith is now out for the year for Pittsburgh. Willie parker had a good year but again it set up by the pat Jacksonville's seemed to be gaining confidence with its all that Fred Taylor -- had equal -- three weeks he's -- over under yards each week. If Pittsburgh does not get some turnovers here in this game. I -- it was an -- for the first time this year well they've not hospital while this year and Jacksonville even in the games -- lost this year John. I've been impressed I think they've grown up a lot since last year when they were the ultimate roller -- football."
[1:17:39]" Right true world I'm going to bring this one up. Only because it happens we the next one of the events Baltimore playing at Miami for no reason at all in the fact that the patriots get Miami next week and it. This might be Miami's last best chance to win a football game."
[1:17:57]" Well the ravens have lost seven games era. The dolphins of -- sixteen games and Brokeback last year mean you look at the rubber -- erode U think but. I think with the decision make the star Cleo let you know John beck our police started three games played most of before the -- never scored a touchdown when he was in there he really looked -- experience they have a lot of problems protecting their quarterback it was very evident buffalo last week. The weapon attack. I picked off at dolphins get off to skip this week no kidding Baltimore committee. Looks at and they rarely looked -- all this is all -- this is not a quitting thing. Neglected on the the ravens head last Sunday night that week after playing New England. I mean they were never in that game against the colts and the score went up 404020. The decade was at least 40471 -- they realize the mistake I think their defense is now -- countered up the year Trevor Pryce simply to -- for the year. Veteran teams -- stretch. Seem like -- get a little more this interstate when there's nothing played for in enterprise built coming back next week. This as a sellout game by the way and guess what they're doing this week in Miami they're celebrating the perfect team to 35 anniversary."
[1:19:32]" Yeah I know that I saw that. So I -- to action is another exited there."
[1:19:37]" there was something they scheduled a long time ago apparently I get a press release a few weeks ago so this is simple. Stock up from two yards out kick act on it I kick -- a touchdown and worked you'll beat. Dolphins 44 all the work."
[1:19:55]" Said that after the Tampa ceremony they're going to sign half the guys to the contract of that is."
[1:20:00]" Of the best today you know would really be -- what might be more entertaining game would be the current dolphins and you gotta feel bad for guys like Jason Taylor Zach Thomas. Who have really seven -- thomas' Alfred the year but you know it's funny we would Tom Jackson get peace with the with the dolphins last week that he went to -- up and he didn't -- that thirteen that's when analysts. You could tell by the practice. Very very spirited practice -- don't like the players are working hard I think maybe it paid off this week. The -- to lose this week. -- if you look at that that probably that Cincinnati game you know the very last week because I can't imagine -- to the Foxboro week's sixteen to get that."
[1:20:42]" Be the most interest ever going to winless team potential --"
[1:20:45]" And I didn't you know that we debated you know we debated now David rose one of our good medical researchers that -- quick and we sit and -- talk about reflecting. And he he certainly numerous times and he would have been there to do it. But it Miami was award fifteen going into making the Cincinnati. What they actually make that -- who I don't think that I could it be flexing in the different directions."
[1:21:15]" Yeah you would think. The other game that I'm going to bring up is the obvious. -- matchup on Sunday somewhat surprisingly I think buffalo what Cleveland both teams fighting for playoff opportunities. Ball close 76 Cleveland -- five to the browns composed dissension at this weekend."
[1:21:33]" Well they can they can put themselves and and a real enviable position you know what black semi so buffalo against Cleveland in the big games Chris Berman I can about last week running armored -- the pass -- quarter at the end zone it's is that right playoff game you know in 1989 great play off game the."
[1:21:48]" And -- it was a 1990 and he's 89 and then the other there."
[1:21:52]" 89 he's had a 3430 wild game -- Cleveland of course that went -- lost Denver in the AFC championship game back. That for a long time was along the longest time before it'd Chris pointed out the built it loose and Agassi play a game for a long time that but. You got a real bunch of over achievers in the unnerving in Buffalo Bills remember what tree. In the out seven to three of their last ten games and sometimes you wonder how to do would it. With the changes a quarterback the rookie Marshall which has been -- satellite -- back now they got. Trouble -- game last week from first year player Fred Jackson Ed lynch and thirteen -- it dead and it doesn't break. They still find -- way to win games that -- Cleveland's -- had to start by it will better they didn't have his work point Cleveland's been on a major role they're pass rush is getting better every week it's hard to imagine. Cleveland doesn't get it done it no but I will say this if you let the bills -- out. Cleveland's Steve sent which is highly suspect fact I believe the programs. I -- it because right. They scored 356 point this year meant giving up 360. It's right at that balance you know real good not great against the run even in a losing effort Thomas Jones -- you know last week but. You don't really had a great. Couple weeks and it was got Jamal Lewis. It's -- touchdown. In each of the last four games missed scored receiving touchdowns in each of the last two games. And his run to put a way to gain last week was detachable Lewis he looks like he's probably couple all the way to act. From injury problems off the field problems. He could be major factor for them if they get the playoffs in day out here in December I kind of got like Cleveland but. Don't the out signal buffalo it could sit there 2420 and it built at the ball about six minutes left."
[1:24:03]" I'll try not to. At the turnout that."
[1:24:06]" Well that's a look at that quickly deepened susceptible to -- it can't be warned him you know they've let it keep it around they are so much like the cardiac kids that the -- Where they would exciting games and it was --"
[1:24:19]" I'll let you also put a plug in for the Monday night game when he is the end Minnesota. Might actually be one of the hottest teams in the league right now."
[1:24:27]" Well think there's any question about it and they showed last week you know -- the -- they -- last week it's not just. -- that's got to say get entered Peters at. Is that a big factor what they're doing but they showed they showed our checks it is getting better as a quarterback. The suited their decent start played abroad in the past they've -- they play the run very well. But -- start to play to -- little well Chester Taylor. Big contributions they're becoming more well balanced team that'll last time they saw the bears. 224 by Adrian Peterson. People would for the -- this kind of grabbed the top spot in terms of -- protective wonder lacked were games. 139 to 56. That's pretty impressive move into that thing I'd like is in those last four games shot. Twelve touchdowns by the off -- return -- including four interceptions and kick off. -- care field goals. And even safety by the deep and so they are fighting weight to put points on the board which is a problem for them most last year and happen this year. Getting hot at the right time never. The bears major disappointment not -- the office or keep it is this point is well but this is -- maturity gave it for the vikings. They're probably expected to win this game now figured to keep it wouldn't superbowl the need to close the deal I don't think it'll be easy I can go get it done. But I think the struggle right at the very --"
[1:26:01]" I wrestled in the kind of probable on this thing for Sunday at least four for the patriots. If they were able to avoid all the pitfalls and take care of matters and moved fourteen you know on the in the second team now. Get fourteen wins in the season behind those 72 dolphins or at least go fourteen you know with the loss in the regular season -- and the dolphins. Then over these last two weeks. What do we think about more where actually think about matchups are we thinking about maybe immortality where the patriots are concerned and in your estimation should we be focusing on that."
[1:26:36]" Well it's inevitable that we're going to because we did two years ago with the colts when they were their -- and in New England in essence. Had to -- every pick up this weekend home field advantage Bill Belichick has proven that if his team is not playing well. Probably you'll put the starters and their record so we always had an agenda for what he wants to do I've ever couple years ago. They were not playing well league a year and they played the 49ers in this season finale at Foxboro. It was a game likely be really -- need. But they played the starter I believe right in the third quarter to remember that game."
[1:27:14]" And yes it just so you know."
[1:27:16]" Yeah I mean I think he was not that he was not happy with their performance late in the year okay."
[1:27:26]" They -- to do something that no team has done it. It get to fourteen you know since the dolphins. There's one other team that won fourteen straight regular season games and that was the Steelers had in 2004 but that -- split their first two games so mean regardless. Third rarefied air here but I think just awaiting the way to go about their business. I don't think they're thinking anything don't spend here's the game how to we would -- it's hard not that it focused about the immortality aspect of it. But I think there's the recently caught as long as they caught doing it is they remember pretty remind. -- remained focused at the casket and that is above all else win the football and I went with a report."
[1:28:12]" Okay Russell as always thank you very much for the time enjoy the time with you daughter at home in the snow banks notebook Connecticut's end here."
[1:28:23]" Hopefully that means snow banks without the cars so yeah."
[1:28:26]" Yeah okay. Yeah yeah -- air movement and we'll work on one for -- let's put this weekend will plug you next week and keep an eye on Mario Williams who. That's right that -- forget about tonight with it. These first overall pick accurate by going at nine and act this year mean not a pay respect your for decreed."
[1:28:50]" Yeah well it is somewhat under the radar had a pretty good year -- ordered that. You like you like Houston shots tonight."
[1:28:58]" And I do and tonight it really. Tonight is that like Arizona New Orleans game on Sunday public advocate of 7% and hang in it so I'll I'll go with Houston. And you've got eight Gary Kubiak versus Mike Shanahan says world be Eric Mangini Bill Belichick kicked it might always been big he would hit like little bit of an."
[1:29:20]" In -- I was on could be -- right through it. Thanks Russell. You took you to trust electorate in the NFL research coordinator for ESP -- joint news on Thursday's here in the program arm. Let's see -- gets few emails in here for him. And then now we'll get off to -- the locker room Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison in the -- with -- for today's week. Our and our number two patriots playbook for -- so Thursday. Once it would -- in. Call this the computers and ankle but funky with almost no outs and a Mike and Florida since this he goes if the weather is nasty. -- seven jets three. That would be really nasty weather might. But I would ask in Florida do you even know what next you through it it it's in order came target he's as if the weather's cold but not too windy. Then pats 24 jets seven. If the weather's great -- 56 jets nothing and no handshake just half hearted smirk and now. You know kind of by that -- as well fact actually being there will be anything at all on the field agreement that it probably -- good -- to -- talk about. And it's conjecture going over it as anything else -- into the football game with a another actually is a shake at midfield after the ball game is over frankly I don't think there will be predictable side who probably avoided to be quite honest this one. Comes from Mike -- is 72 doubles combined record -- play that year just over 301% or 30% went. 85 bears just over 40% bears only loss coming to the dolphins won the two teams they played at a winning season. Currently the pats have played a beaten every division leader with the exception of the Packers in Seattle and combined winning percentages over that percent they will be the best ever hands down. Yeah our row away we head an -- send assessment of similar information yesterday day before one of those two days and -- exactly the same thing fact is the patriots what they're doing in 7 compared the 85 bears in the 72 dolphins. Pretty much considered to be to -- the greatest teams in modern. NFL times the patriots not to compare favorably but surpassed. Those teams have done in terms of winning or playing and winning the games on their schedule in terms of the strength of schedule no doubt about it. All right you what you James this incorporated since that email James in Roanoke rapids North Carolina. Is John now that looks like -- the most likely have 2000 plus yard receivers in at least one of those with a hundred plus receptions. Did you know that this is the first time Brady has had a thousand plus yard or 100 plus reception receiver since 2001. Troy brown yes 101 receptions for Le -- and yards that your. Now if they get -- no there expecting the my score prediction is patriots 24 jets nothing. If the weather's not that bad and the prediction patriots forty. -- seven and kind of signing with that in that along that that line -- to be honest with -- I stepped up arrested 34 nothing. As I do think that the jets me you know call put up once or twice but the weather is actually better than I think the patriots could -- half under Donovan make it like a 52 to six Diana Bridgeport, Connecticut I -- she's his job the weather and slippery oil field conditions will be a big factor. I expect four fumbles too by the jets' three by the patriots. That's five does it in by inexperienced pats play here's -- as patriots 36 jets twelve. Because the patriots defense won't go full out -- prevent unnecessary injuries --"
[1:33:05]" That's that's certainly good one let's see you know -- this year as you -- few conditions you know she's immediately corrected that it could -- spellings but you know what diet. I knew what you meant. I knew what you meant. -- outlets as promised a little more -- in the patriots locker room -- this afternoon. Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison on preparing for the New York Jets."
[1:33:31]" And their cars -- aunt -- okay. I have I'm not familiar with the it's going to be pretty shaky -- at a you know we're worried about that you know the jets are are the team that we have -- go out and play it and there's there's big challenge. I'll let it. -- what attractions going to be a big difference now and therefore it's gonna blow a lot of fast guys down which gift for me Mina older and I try to catch them. But and -- going to be you know cardinals -- I don't know the game plan would change on the option I you know with the throwing you think that there won't run more. But we'll see what happens. When he was going to. The cardinals well. Every game's important you know every game's a poignant and specially when you get into the you know then they kind of -- Kind of clears everything up you know every game going to mean something about four more horrible try to do just try to keep it even kill. And I work every day and whenever you get there you know. -- draft across in you know that bridge Burnett across I think that is going to be a challenge and I'm running jet and you know who knows what kind of weather we're going to get by that that's not the problem. Yeah there and runs cling -- like that you then I hear what you. Foreman for. Quality in the sub packages out -- definite buy and play play linebacker he's proven that. Throughout his career so -- You know we like to have men -- and more importantly he runs are -- so you never know that night MB. A DV HBO or a linebacker and he has good job that the joke. Linebacker group -- There's no joke that he can do it if you wanted to. It's okay. Months from now leagues now -- and I'm going to get in here odds that I'm that. Going to be there you know throughout you know the -- in January whatever we're not going to give -- sort you know going to go out there and do what we do and and enjoy the way we we always are you know war really up. And educated in a routine. And he changed -- now -- it will be right. And -- that now as far as I go. Albert like west -- game and you know I mean Einstein at their product pocket of course but that. But it career with it's him or span. That what we have a great and death imagery the twelfth man however you want to call it you know it's definitely special order. I don't but you know the game played between them why -- court or. You know whenever you you can you you probably want to say that there's an advantage. But when he -- comes out it's all about tackling it's all about execution if you know anything a year every day here in -- You know going out there playing for scores are always have that and with the you. But -- That -- before or. I -- Talented team it would with you know that your brownies -- you have -- To have Andy there with the and not have to travel it's obvious and a -- match. But you know again you're gonna go out there and get a game plan throughout the whole week hopefully yards project if you. And and how beautiful this week. They're just win one."
[1:37:44]" When with the news I mean they would have home field advantage of me that's always nice but. -- without really concerned about the playoffs obviously -- big game. A great opportunity -- fourteen on your next victory so we're out of bothers them how to block who. And who's going to visit but that's -- order for three weeks -- probably. -- in and out -- and and that was. You have to travel to meet New York but just being at home I know just being at home and plan from the home crowd -- family able not to have to travel travel Saturday I -- you trust -- good -- extra rest and and religious. You know spent time at home what our families and and to be here and his high player from the home crowd. Where once cheerfully that one. And it is and competitive do you. Well I mean he make -- and that -- through preparation through on the work on the field as well well as a classroom. And you know you got here and hit that that that twelfth that twelfth thirteenth man out there and a crowd screaming yelling and if opener quarterback here you know calls -- that I mean his two sport whether we don't want and you. The fans will be born here."
[1:39:02]" Grizzlies closing minutes and territories because you know how impressive is that to be kind of mentioned it's terrible you know from the -- it's -- question I asked him it took about notre. I don't know -- is playing great football and these two he's a great teammate and works extremely hard for him accomplish what he's accomplished and -- I'm I'm not really surprised me. He's had that talent so confidently -- so operating Israelis several times that he's always beat us. So it's not like I'm surprised accomplishments or just that things happen right now. I mean I think right around playing isn't the dominant linebacker lake -- like in the heat and so that's juniors. That didn't run ever try to you can get a linebacker group you know joking that it no joke you know you could do it yeah."
[1:39:58]" Most -- you know we have personal players here not to me but -- daily plan and I all the different position quite grateful and that's part of being here what they call me to beat back people who are tied in. Or they can log on -- the man a man as part. Up our our whole program here and do on the map to do and I don't mind when you."
[1:40:23]" Playing in the -- this stadium could not coming out of an analyst at county -- I -- that the theme technique -- easily as you know the incident. Killing him."
[1:40:33]" Walking you know football is football in Europe and in and and Virginia where you're going to have off you know terrible weather here. That's all part of it would not just do what we're more focused on what the jets going to bring what they're going to run off they're out there all kinds of how we get cute and the communication -- What about that make him -- though it's raining you have to do -- rings it's norm is all part of it is is overkill for."
[1:40:59]" Mark guiding mounting on not falling and coming --"
[1:41:02]" I rather play an eighty degree weather to be honest Woodson that is my personal preference one clinical but a lot of guys you like who you don't play like the cold. I don't really care for cold but that's part of it. I think what you do stuff like please don't get that he was acting like and -- and help. Much to players that he and that is."
[1:41:25]" Yeah. I'm sure it's all there everyone has different job tactics of getting motivated enough you can help for pain prevents factors that -- there would a lot of players but -- this week is not. Taste of anything like that or are going out there execute and -- we have to do and make you should win a ballgame. And I would come down to. What the rules have Baltimore ravens Philadelphia oh where oh where we only won by three points. Warm body holds this where one button touchdowns it doesn't matter what is one thing that we went for the coach yanked after -- one hand and and not out of when one for the coach is this this was released. Every once. Kind of intermingled together not when one for the colts to win one for the New England Patriots and and I we need to really focus on and not really worry about."
[1:42:16]" Are -- around in the right now running with the weather or at least our non sleep -- he's gotten to -- these guns. I look at your body that you're having a heck can I do you know."
[1:42:33]" We have the -- Nobody you don't want. You to your -- Well you know. I think."
[1:42:47]" who grieve back Willis McGahee obviously he's he's right at us and you know I think. The last run that was parker I'm sorry you know he made runs and some runs that released. There weren't that significant event in terms of the game were plant probably -- more erratic but at the end today. W's is W I mean you run ball 1000 yards and we do win. I guess what they go home lose we go home winner."
[1:43:19]" Well as we get ready now to wrap up patriots book for a Thursday but one of the researchers -- wanted to share with you going through the notes and in no looking at the ball things that are in don't have to do with the jets and the patriots for Sunday and and this one you know I guess speaks a little bit to what we might see for the patriots on Sunday it speaks to some of the criticism of the patriots don't we -- back on Tuesday and but some of things that we didn't really like with his team and things that just didn't seem to be going as well as -- could have been -- In couldn't and invariably hurting this team before -- and and the pursuit of perfection this year. It has to do with a all of that and yet it's not nearly as bad. It's not nearly as bad. Did you make it out to and I guess this twenty. Underscores the very point that I've made from big -- Before the season again. The fact is that when you consider the stories that are out there when you consider all the that the stuff that's going on and you try to figure out what is really the truth and what -- again it all comes down to this. The and trees always subway -- in the middle it's -- the extreme. Case in point right now we talked about when nit picked earlier this week talk about the that the patriots running game lack -- being somewhat problematic and a in that are apparent inability to stop and opponents running game -- on the game they give up on an 81 yards this past week. Against Pittsburgh and obviously you just going to have any old. Although you know notwithstanding able winning on Sunday they -- going to have to established and the game in the Tampa run effectively and they have to keep the ball -- the patriots offense pants. I think we old generally realized that when you break it right down to get right -- the brass -- at all. But business jumps out really jumps out 47 point one. 47 point one know what that means. That's the percentage of the patriots rushing attempts this season I have gained four star or more yards. And believe it or not that's the highest total of any team in the NFL. I did not know that I would not have thought that -- cannot read it was my own two lies but patriots PR came up with a number of passed it along and might well. That's significant. That's almost half of the rushing attempt to the patriots have had this year. Let him go on for four or most -- yards in that attempt. 47% and that leads the National Football League in that category so so what you the patriots rushing game fact is that the passing game has been so incredibly phenomenal. That's it just it it renders the running game almost moot. By comparison we'll find out just how moved I think to point B this Sunday if indeed weather is as big factors everybody seemed to think it's going to be for the jets will wrap up to it's letting you here earlier today at Gillette stadium. From patriots head coach Bill Belichick pats get ready for the jets on Sunday if you're headed out of the stadium. Make sure you tune into the the advisories your favorite channels TV radio or Internet whatever it may be. I'm sure that there will be some parking indications for you make she'd dressed warmly Morgan isn't on Sunday will see the -- I suppose and here now is Bill Belichick."
[1:46:49]" critics yeah."
[1:46:53]" And ambivalent."
[1:46:56]" That's it but you have to do them. This pitching goes a little bit earlier and and moon so what Minnesota. Friends battles -- we're just more yeah more personal whatever we get we get. Terrorism is. If you haven't seen much of that here it's a what are always a little bit everything you know. But clearly we'll."
[1:47:41]" And you -- little relief. The -- It's bad enough water."
[1:47:56]" You know I think you know we've -- some good Bryant -- and we have on players holes with like avoid it so certainly -- improving. The reason why it is Devon coast good enough and play good enough. It's -- and almost got and other -- I just -- it and it is plays different. It's been a combination of things on any one player anyone. We did a better job. Cogent plan."
[1:48:31]" You have one of the most Rodriguez his third when my partner. -- excuse best it easier to. -- girls him plus yards."
[1:48:45]" So."
[1:48:47]" Yeah -- notre. Senate did it away it is that in a way it's still and you don't you know don't get along and either so that's a problem so it is -- the -- It's good -- cargo bay longhorns it's not good has given -- lawyers give up you know. Goes -- eighteen yarder is enough forty urban it's that is -- so. I don't know there's plays that we defended well as those that we didn't and Monica said it just goes back then we will do better got a coach and a better job why. And we faced hills and good runners so. It's -- to take inning away from them but you know we've always been a better job."
[1:49:41]" So all night."
[1:49:49]" So the usual culprits had always. Missed assignments in general penetration and instead it's the defense can't penetrate the line of scrimmage is gonna target negative plays out. They do penetrate the line of scrimmage and they get to the somehow get a -- before you get into the hole then bigger problems first penalties -- that's that's the quickest way."
[1:50:13]" Others numbers or it's okay well okay. --"
[1:50:20]" That's my first downs on the fewer opportunities and his defense has a negative play you know it's thank you got your -- line of scrimmage than -- have fewer of those. More on your ideal line of scrimmage and later it gets them. Sometimes that's getting me physically and sometimes that some type of metal -- there're some -- air where you. You know -- and he found -- kind of straighten. It's more a function of you make mistakes and does that make enough you know great physical play you know but how is that -- would play a lot of good defensive players sometimes and make good plays. It's puzzling that. Miami game and Otis. Three the nine what was -- 912 -- and down. I was -- good you know that was a good win virtually it was a big point and get your -- get into it you know I was I was good but. It was a want to get divisions in this important game fours and as does that they gave us the division right. I remember Berkeley out you know that ghost wrote great way to illustrate and it's -- again. One game in the division especially against Miami you know when I was all of them and being very often. And win a division. It's certain."
[1:51:58]" I don't yeah. It's okay. Questions okay."
[1:52:10]" I was Ahmadinejad was that. -- slated to go take care of and always got to do what we can do do our job and look burials worry about the other stuff. Normally do about it."
[1:52:32]" David Harris playing on as a rookie. It's on the right. And just being my argument being type guys who have interest in and -- did you guys to have them look at him and animation and we're sure looked good. -- live -- players. It's confusing good fit for and obviously Eric Munson once I didn't ask when. You know here because it's. Par."
[1:53:03]" I think you hit it gives it got him -- you know obviously they did based on expected traded of that the take and you know these -- instruction -- on a good job you know his -- climate we one on only got hurt and he actually played their pre season and then -- And and they -- them over to what we call money to the strong -- Then bump Barton back and a two weeks where Vilma have played them. I don't really know what. And I have talked to them about that -- you know why they didn't all but that's that's kind of what. You know what what happened you know the heresy played on the weak side and through pre season -- an early part of the regular. And then they -- a -- might move Barton after the that we and so.
