[0:00]" Stalin's gone though some -- another golf I'll want to go pot and why it. -- one -- excuse patriots playbook got back got combat odds that they've gone here briefly what. When he got -- Sundays game for man coverage. The seventh round next on these Gatorade for the great Jack do. Great -- the rest of the 2000. And NFL. And some of the points stuff in between now he has done well. I'm patriots --"
[0:41]" Once again we will -- inside patriots. Patriots dot com radio I am John -- and it is great to be back with you as the patriots now have an opponent. To look forward to coming up this Saturday night at Jacksonville Jaguars will commit to Foxboro. And play the patriots in the AFC divisional round of playoffs Saturday night 8 o'clock eastern time. Our schedule this week is obviously a little bit different simple because the shorter work week with the Saturday game as opposed Sunday and so that means we backed everything up we've already lost sometime this week just because of my absence on Tuesday with college basketball duties so well. Would basically taken Thursday's program and moving it to today. Tomorrow will be patriots Friday program Mike pilgrim from ESP 1980 in Boston will be primarily occupying the slot all the won't be around for a little while. In this time slot tomorrow but it's only because we -- and move things around because the NFL decided the patriots -- best served. In prime time on Saturday night that is of course that's why they couldn't gain the kind of revenue they do on television so. Because this is technically at Thursday. Inside the playbook and he's on Thursday's. We get to visit with a good friend Russell Baxter. -- Russell from ESPN. And it -- research coordinator -- here -- said the playbook great to hear from you again sorry about the little scheduled cage Russell but I'm glad -- those."
[2:06]" It can better audible and that's what radio is all about and I mean no one is -- Okay so it's on the capitol. Well it's -- April -- football season -- espionage matter -- that's great. That's all nineteen unbelievable -- but he has -- while. Does this what's -- at any particular way I guess there then the patriots to a sixteen and."
[2:37]" Well every one uniquely different. And that and the thing I'd love about pro football is it is 85 months soap opera to actually get an ending every year. Although the offseason now get a little more interesting used to you know -- free agency days. But you know this year we have this year -- soap opera which -- high scoring team in NFL history little controversy beginning of the year. Too much coverage about a quarterback and whatever he does in his personal life. And a slew of other surprises and touching stories as well like the direction last week I do lost by what a playoff -- for -- lawns and their comrade. If they're they're there's nothing like I mean I know college football has its own drama and and mystique and so on but the NFL. Just get bigger and better every year."
[3:29]" Well you're definitely right about that remind the listeners that if they have some comments or some questions perhaps at this point I'm the email -- box is open. -- video. Patriots dot com radio. At patriots dot com until he reaches here on the program will be it was from jaguars issues coming -- the second have a program will also hear from some of the patriots players. A little bit later on into the show but Russell to be remiss number one of I didn't get Europe at least initial opinions on. Yet again someone inserting foot in mouth with Paul Spicer going off. Of the jaguars and I'm beginning to wonder now what anybody. Ever learn."
[4:07]" Well -- out -- on Saturday night Clinton and that that that there turned up repeated the test and you know that they needed now it when you say something now if he said he four months ago four years ago. Read it forty years ago still going to go get somewhere out there are -- really funny story had nothing to do with what we're talking about. We are in the conference room and I know a lot of people don't have that opportunity but sitting in the years in conference and one Sunday afternoon or Saturday afternoon during the playoffs. There's nothing like it. Watching the football games with a guy which I've had a great privilege to doing for a long long time and it is funny. It is educational it is irreplaceable. When I write my memoirs about ESPN and buy -- by career and so -- 80% of it will be about that room which is provided a lot -- that show you that everything is out there. We got into a discussion about the greatest TV theme songs of all time. In Ramallah one of my favorite which I think is one of funny it is at troop. But any song at the lyrics both turn chicken. And it is just funny. And lo and behold you go on YouTube or whatever it is not only do you get the lyrics. You get the black and white video right he'd get the audio and Chris Berman who would not he may -- of the Internet I can tell you these very very old school. Stood there fascinated as we watched the theme song. From F -- it was on the air. Forty years ago in his fifties the sixties TV show for people don't know what I'm talking about trying to figure out why Dalembert and it stopped them from my point today. It's all spices that something four months ago and -- is a drop in the bucket. So it is what it did it will be played up all week it started early and now the proof will be in the putting when they line up against each other on Saturday night."
[6:13]" I also found -- curious there and I know that he originally said this about a month or so ago but -- courses Dennis green's son and he is big week for scouts ink which is depart the research department there on espn.com. -- degree it is also said. -- a month ago the jaguars would be the pats. And he's also saying it now in predicting the playoff rounds this week. That the jaguars will be patriots and I guess he's a little bit more adamant this time that he thinks the jaguars will be the patriots. And it just so much because it's. Just sort of -- lone voices out in the wild or he's really I guess has belief in his convictions here. What are your thoughts and in terms of guys making a stand where this is concerned."
[6:56]" Well I know how when he might consider gotten I think the thing it's been the funniest watching my -- that he has yet to be bluntly audit. Is trying to figure out which one of them actually said first that the patriots would go undefeated. Because they're great -- of sorts I've heard Tony -- tigers that it -- April Mike Greenburg that it after I think -- connected over fifty you know I'm just kidding. You -- that I can sometime in September so people it. Everybody wants to take the claim. -- right. Okay so Jeremy and you know -- certainly try to Palestinian just like greedy -- like Tony. But more and more than I think even he with you see what our industry. That the guys who aren't necessarily the players. Want -- want to put the crown on it saying I was the first to say. That Randy Moss would not be it is accurate in doing I was the first that they different Mark. We have a great comeback -- I was the first that -- Tony Romo flashed again. We -- want to -- first male guests in our business and so and so I get it up and hang our hat on I just stick with my pre season predictions. Like everything else that comes around for anybody whom. Listen to what I said any year I -- the colts eagles in Super Bowl obviously one would not happen obviously one is still alive will cross that bridge we get."
[8:20]" Fair enough. Now it's pars looking at this particular game I mean obviously it it's pretty easy to sort of see that Jacksonville's best deepens may be -- all fans in ball control and whatever the case may be. And I'm sure going to be some wrinkles thrown in it very well is going to come down of the fact you know that most playoff games come down to basically who. Things as far as I'm concerned obviously like -- agree or disagree which -- you for your number one. Comes down to field position number two. Comes down to turnovers if these two teams turn the ball over this Richard salute if they're consistently poor field position. Cause that office is vehicle from further away in Jacksonville's case. That may even be a bigger burden -- it would because they're not a bill from coming from behind type of -- however turnovers. Turnovers especially in the special teams game can be deadly in the playoffs."
[9:17]" Yeah well. Turnovers especially the playoffs. And turnovers on special teams are such momentum killer right and being placed on special teams are very big momentum killer. And there was no better example that and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. -- eighty yards down field against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And they haven't read I'm sorry to Rees Jones drew. -- ensuing kick off 96 yards in this set up a very short touchdown run by Fred Taylor. And all the Steelers work of eighty yards. And suddenly -- 77. So special teams where the patriots are always been good under the Bill Belichick -- I -- bigger -- of -- patriots colts series. Is that is that 3034 game at Indianapolis more known for the goal line and game John but to -- always remember that. That -- Johnson. Returned the last play of the first half for touched me out. Big momentum swing right then -- and then after the -- to come back from 3110 to make it 3131 -- Bethel Johnson returned the next kick off. Into easy scoring range. It is -- look at it look at the AFC championship game last year I know New England wound up not winning big -- But after the COLT had exerted all that intriguing to back and it it was a kick off returns in the special teams play the patriots that really. Kept the pressure on the Indianapolis -- the -- secondhand."
[10:53]" Right and go back to the special teams play in the AFC championship games against the Steelers as well in the turns and I mean it's just. -- rarely they're not only momentum breakers I think their game winners in game losers that's how important they are. -- special teams obviously sometimes picture taking I mean field position -- you sometimes taking chances if your import position that you might not. Know early break in the course of a regular season."
[11:17]" The New England Patriots in their first Super Bowl periods of this current wrong I'm not talking about the against the bears and implement the Packers. Got to the Super Bowl by winning in Pittsburgh went out Tom Brady. Throwing a touchdown -- he got hurt the game I -- Troy brown punt return after a penalty by the way. That gate -- Brenda and second chance -- be on the Steelers a blocked field goal return by the patriots. And Drew Bledsoe coming in and throwing a touchdown pass that year the patriots won the Super Bowl with their offense scoring. One offensive touchdown in each playoff game. So there are other ways to get it done. And special teams it's such a killer and the play of the Jacksonville special teams has had its good. And bad moments during his feet at Maurice Jones drew is a huge backer on returns but I also -- a year and you can take this for what it's worth because it was a lost -- last game of the year -- Davis return basically back to back kickoffs for touchdowns. Against the Jacksonville jaguar so. Jacksonville had -- good and bad moments on special teams rue -- a year and this would not be a good time for them to have an off night."
[12:34]" Well here's how I think this team really basically boils down to Russell. If Jacksonville because this is that this is aid and often that is not a -- necessarily built to be quick striking. If they don't get a quick lead in this thing. Or they don't match a quick score by the patriots right off the bat. I think it'll be very long day and could potentially be a long day for Jacksonville that having been said. If he didn't score quickly or let's say the patriots corporate and and Jacksonville. Holds on the -- on matches that make it 77 say going into the second quarter but I think you'll be real dogfight this is where the turnovers and special teams play and certainly. Field position will come and -- but I -- the first quarter is the key quarter here."
[13:14]" I don't think there's a question about it because it hit it. The Jacksonville Jaguars have to show that they are going to come into Gillette stadium and played their game and not in New England Patriots game we saw last week them rolling 28 to ten. And suddenly start doing stuff it's not necessarily that they started just throwing the football and steady constantly killing clock. -- more opportunity reject the abatement is very good but their secondary very -- And suddenly 2810 became 2920 Pittsburgh. If they're going to get into the kind of game that New England would love them to get into. -- nobody does that -- that you don't you do not want to get into free for all with a team that scored the most points in NFL history. We want to go there and do what you do -- Jacksonville can do -- very good things because -- yet to. Powerful back and I take them about it particular date rape story. This year there's no doubt about it."
[14:17]" It just disturbed that he made the probable. Justice sort of that he got on the probable."
[14:22]" hit and let -- that this guy got you know seventeenth in NFL history in rushing yards you know -- that is great playoff moment -- you know drug ninety yard touchdown. Played at the Miami Dolphins and that squeaker against Miami back in 99 to 627 game in the particular flavor like I expect. Maurice Jones drew. He can beat you running he can to reach you receiving he can beat you one returns he can beat you -- a blocker at short Marion and about six or seven weeks ago. This is a really solid football player and he did everything I think. Everybody what Reggie Bush would be. And he does things in some ways even better than Reggie Bush -- a complete player. Reggie Bush is still kind of caught up in this running side to side like my windshield wipers. Rees Jones drew hit the whole he would it would authority he runs with power he runs and quickness he could be you know like he did something it never been done in a in a playoff game last week you run for a touchdown. He caught a touchdown pat -- returned a kick off ninety plus yards and this guy is. Serious and it'll be just very very interesting to see the mindset of the Jacksonville Jaguars because. Everybody is I think everybody's been hearing that this is the team of all the teams did who can go into. Gillette stadium because they have their physical styled like because it aside and Ricky besides -- And no lead it -- gave New England the most problems. Jack you know can't worry about that -- had to go and they're worrying about playing football they can't go and are worried about winning."
[16:03]" Yeah that's true I think that's very true and this is the team I think we earmark as. Being the potential. Well most difficult first match over the patriots that really existed and it we're talking but missive about this as long as a month ago. -- Jacksonville with the team and want to come in New England that was the team that potentially could give the patriots the most of the physical like."
[16:23]" These teams play in the playoffs two years ago it was a very interesting somewhat controversy all. Gain not percentage was played because it was it was a one sided game -- controversial in the sense that typical art which finished the season as the starting quarterback. Projected bill because Byron Leftwich you've got hurt suddenly found himself on the bench and left which is that I was not a 100%. Wound up starting to gain -- arcane and later played very very spotting Lee but it was. No contest was 23 New England Jack mills showed it -- experience now for people who don't remember last year game. New England against the -- grow big and physical Jacksonville Jaguars. Went down to Jacksonville the next the last week of the regular season and ran the ball stay on the Jacksonville's wrote decisive game not necessarily on the scoreboard but I think people were surprised that -- You know. You know that this is was being big and bad Jacksonville team they were a couple of weeks removed from beating the colts 4417 in New England went down to Jacksonville and beat them."
[17:30]" The totally correct. I find it also kind of strange that kind of getting often different tangent here but. You know even though these teams have had some matchups certainly in the playoffs that they really don't have a whole lot of history guerrillas the Jackson has been around the league that long but. Patriots have dominated what little history between the two teams there are 61 all week. One game that Jackson was one also came in the playoffs."
[17:53]" teams have met three previous times in a play off. And this state it's been hey who's who of football when the patriots in terms of the patriots head coach and eastern those meetings is an understatement. The first one would be a championship in 96 -- ourselves -- that coach Rick it was in Jacksonville win their I think their only win this series. In the playoffs in 98 like -- just mention what Pete Carroll was the coach and then of course two years ago when Bill Belichick was the -- so fitness center in eaters some. Professional -- college. Championships rung up quickly -- reject."
[18:28]" Right absolutely. All right well. We'll come back a little bit two this came in a moment I wanted to briefly touch on the other ones as well as we normally do from week to week in terms of -- trying to look at the schedule and such but primarily. Com the other. Game coming up on them Saturday one with the kickoff of the first in the NFC game and Cedric are the probably hit is that a 4 o'clock game."
[18:53]" It is 430. -- it was -- o'clock on Saturday yep CNN reporting 1 o'clock 430."
[18:58]" Right Seattle Green -- is the NFC game on Saturday and channel I thought actually it was fairly impressive in dismantling Washington last week. And -- Green Bay obviously it was a big sentimental favorite there and everybody wants to Brett Harvey would appear. That are but it would like Brett part succeed here the Seattle have enough momentum here and Kim Green Bay continued to. Kind of -- keep the lightning in the bottle so to speak from the regular season."
[19:21]" All of you know Green Bay is between that played well down the stretch they didn't really let that -- to Dallas at second that back all the locals say they played a very very sloppy game to not forget the sloppy game against Chicago. Okay so. They might showed a little bit of there inexperience and I think that the key. To this game is inexperienced at the Jacksonville team now and I don't -- obviously but. A great part of this team is in the playoffs five years in -- Mateen has been to the Super Bowl recently. So you've got some experience here in a lot of regards. Good thing it's also impressive about Seattle John is. Speaking that speed on defense you know I don't think a lot of people realize what they like the Super -- couple years ago you know they played Washington in divisional playoff they then Ronald. The Carolina Panthers who went into the game with a lot of momentum and then it in in eight again you to -- controversial because there were more flagged in the UN in this game but with the Super Bowl loss to the Steelers. My point is that both Carolina and Pittsburgh that you are I think got surprised by the speed. Seattle's he's -- now last year you can't really see. It'd evidently back again you saw last week they play very fast on defense Patrick -- had a big year. Surprisingly Atlantic just let him go to Seattle if you combine him with it you know Julian Peterson located two -- had a hell of an impact in his short stay in the NFL becoming a perennial pro bowler and so on a Marcus Trufant first pro -- for him this year. Defensively they are very impressive now offensively they border on being one dimensional they don't run with the authority they used to. I certainly Shaun Alexander doesn't -- with the authorities used."
[21:18]" But when they stick the other backs and they are like Maurice more. These seem like they'd run better than -- instead. Green day. Is that a Cinderella type this season they got a lot of big plays out of Brett Farr who is played within himself for the most part the only game. And I applaud the Chicago game because I still think he's doing what got him they are most of the year. The Dallas game it seemed like he really try to force -- the -- Chicago game was it was less about what our. And more about rebate punting game that gear that gave which was really it is accurate awaited Chicago. He's -- the playoffs for years ago Matt Hasselbeck it was."
[22:01]" yup that was the game where he made the proclamation in overtime right."
[22:04]" a ticket -- score at right. He to a touchdown that probably -- who played for the other team an art of course will be there so. There's a little bit of history here and of course the guy coach's -- that somewhat six that. At Lambeau field not necessarily the Seahawks but certainly one was part part coach and went to a couple suitable -- I think it is a copy to pick because you know -- a lot of momentum. -- always feel like one of these scenes that sits around. You know can get a jump started again although I won't say it has been around in the play -- That innocent should go back in 1990 with a bye week the home team. Pretty sparkling 70% to -- 5350. As far as the winning for the home team in this round and in six of the seventeen years the home team won all four games. So 13 of the time it's a clean sweep. But the home team houses in the divisional round right in the divisional round yet not not the wild card certainly not the championship but -- that is because you've got a fourteen -- sitting. Against that team that's already played you can't overlook those numbers. That -- instead. Seattle come up with some momentum but. Offensively they can bog down time. And I think they'll be enough big plays from -- far either to the titans either to Greg Jennings has become his Javon Walker -- Javon Walker -- and I think Green -- and find a way to get this done."
[23:41]" I would tend to agree at this stage of the game only because I think. They've probably been pointing to this at least this week -- this particular opponent I'm not convinced that Seattle has enough of quick strike power certain with the throwing game although I guess the leader's legacy if Deion Branch actually he gets back correct for Seattle."
[24:03]" That's what I thought I that'll certainly be the equation. But how effective will be you know is anybody's guess that would those."
[24:12]" Well."
[24:14]" Seattle at times mystified Asia -- I don't know good role when they decided to become orbit acting scene that are running team and then suddenly a couple weeks ago relate nick Carolina I don't I don't. Look at the Atlanta game because they were -- people in that lineup and that one but. I think. Early in the year Green Bay it was -- Seattle because they were very one dimensional effect the Green Bay is -- run the football with Ryan grant I think it is the difference -- I think you'll see a couple bells and whistles from the Packers I think it should have some very entertaining game. It would not be surprised at all. That we saw another overtime to you know it's funny it. Seattle I believe it walker lacked. They're one and six lifetime on the road forget neutral sites like the Super Bowl. They -- there won it six and I believe they've lost six straight road playoff games this -- back a long way. The funny thing is done it three of those six at one over time. And they lost small low -- and behold it was overtime for years ago I think it's overtime again the Packers get it."
[25:20]" Packers went -- very good question in my head general quickly to the other NFC game which will be the Sunday afternoon. 4:30 eastern time kickoff New York playing at Dallas this is the match up. If you follow the NFC as the match up one NC and this -- a long time cowboy fan I want it to the giants coming of all the momentum in the world. I want to see the -- is coming off a great performance against the patriots -- that the giants were superb last week in the opening round of the play out the accomplish and I had they -- a little bit. And now the cowboys -- the enigma because they kind of midfield -- in toward the end of the regular season. Which one has the --"
[25:57]" Well I'm very happy to hear you not say those two -- sentence. An orthopedic team three times once he's going to thank god they -- because as we --"
[26:10]" Part of -- team three under his season."
[26:12]" Correct that's correct -- direct hit somebody once a year always throw that out there are people don't know when talking about if you go back to the merger. At this will be the eighteenth time. That seems to play each -- third time this season -- instance like the D one team won the first two games. Those seventeen previous time. Before the playoff game a team that swept the regular seasons here in eleven of the seventeen instances the team also won the third game. -- record -- and explode at right out you know the old Burt Reynolds -- next C. Vote when Burt Reynolds gained a pat and green Eckstein yeah. -- all -- to start -- the original the original he has and -- that play work he went acted out on -- once. It'll work again. Now approach to the rumor that you like hitting like we tried a similar -- to Brandon Jacobs for its impact -- the goal line. And -- there were a lot of similarities their jobs we'd like Iraq. Yeah I think he set it up it is as well it can be set up delicate surprised me with the way. They have kind of for a lot of reasons. Not look shark ever since the Green Bay game you know seem like. Activate one -- that was all we all agree that they're going to get home field advantage which eventually they went -- clinching. But did not look good against Detroit had a comeback win that game we looked flat against Philadelphia looked it against Carolina you know you take what you want out of the Washington game although I count it. You can walk across the street and get more than one yard rushing and -- pick -- one yard rushing on sixteen carries. That that it -- need to run the football now the New York Giants come in here. And here's what you got an out there -- is predicated on the pats rush I know -- only back Jeff Garcia one time technique and last week. But they were on in his -- most of the afternoon one they played against the cowboys in in the two games they played this year. I want to say Tony Romo had eight touchdown passes for each game -- you don't set twice total in those two games."
[28:30]" Cowboys of the big strong offensive line."
[28:32]" Exactly that that indicate that Sydney is the game. It let the -- doubt that these events and it's more about dallas' offensive line and they can't protect now I think. I would like Dallas. Decisively year but -- really came out and pushed around that defensive line of the New York Giants by running the football. But I don't think they'll let him do that I know TO is any question Mark. We've seen him -- played hurt before I'll be very very surprised if he got that play by. I'm probably didn't disappoint you hear a little John and I'm actually leaning toward the New York Giants."
[29:11]" While -- actually not I'm not sorry that you said that because I do have great concerns as someone who follows the cowboys and has for more than forty years. I also believe that the giants have an excellent. Opportunity to win this point oh they dull but I'm just saying I'm trying to look at the things someone impartially and I went to greet New Yorkers are going right now."
[29:32]" I I just think it hit a -- it is really interesting to see this is where wade Phillips earns his money -- we heard a lot about you know Bill Parcells and you know wearing out the troops in. It and you know be a little war you know more discipline oriented and we'd had a different style but. No way to take into teams to the playoffs before. And -- Phillips is not one with those teams in the playoffs so. We we shall -- but I'm kinda leaning toward the New York Giants the -- lobos surprise here and we'll get a week to rematch. Of the green bay Packers and New York -- in Egypt Egypt."
[30:15]" Interest are and then of course via AFC divisional game other than the patriots in the jaguars. San Diego at Indianapolis I know that's the game the patriots fans definitely wanted to see him in there. Tennessee would have been great just because it would have been in theory be easier on the face -- that we realized that's really not necessarily the case and I'm not so sure even though San Diego is coming improvement they can win it because they did in the regular season and Indianapolis. I'm not so sure the Minneapolis just doesn't roll right over on this time."
[30:47]" My favorite one of my favorite stat this year that very few people will be answered correctly. What team in the NFL this year gave up the fewest points in the lake."
[30:59]" He reportedly was Indy."
[31:02]" A lot of people know -- that -- it and I'm lucky permitted limit is eighteen last year gave up 360 points. Which was the most ever by a team to win the Super Bowl. It shouldn't give up to 62. They're defensive unit gave up 26 -- which was tight for most in the NFL attracted. -- India now it is that nit in new defensive player of the year about theaters this -- it seemed really swarmed around the football there's no doubt in my mind we'll see Marvin Harrison. This did it -- that also remember the last time they played. Diego chargers Darren Sproles returned a kick off. And a punt for a touchdown and one quarter that's great innings threw an incredible its inception and yet. The award for missed field goal inexplicably door surprisingly we act by Adam Vinatieri acute shot relatively. They would have won net -- any way and I also remember a play in the game which now I don't really get on the reps all that much but. Blow the whistle on what -- that was basically like 10506 yard interception return -- a magnificent play. Up at deflect attack that would open guy that was wiped out because they blew the whistle. So any steep and the chargers to about a 170 -- 177 yards in San Diego's beat them black couple times indeed -- Couple years ago when they were thirteen and a but I would I would agree with you. Not adding Antonio Gates is also -- major problem. Against Indianapolis is secondary and the -- defending champions for reasons and I think they're going to show it. -- against the chargers."
[32:55]" I'm I would agree and I think that brings us back -- full circle to the pats in the jaguars and again on Saturday night and a obviously a whoever survives that San Diego Indy matchup -- going to know if you're going to travel or by some chance they're actually going to get a chance to post. And AFC championship game if that now that the -- does occur on Saturday night. There are some that are saying as we talked about just a little while ago. But if there is to be an upset this is the spot where it could occur do you concur with --"
[33:26]" I do not I think I think I'll wait. Another week -- my pre season."
[33:34]" While and you shouldn't go with a team that you picked all -- I -- agree with."
[33:39]" Of course idea but I'm indirect at Jacksonville mindset and last week. I just thought it was interesting at times they look like they showed still some immaturity now physically. I'm not worried about them mentally you know I that is over the weekend as someone. -- to go in Jacksonville last week one game played up in speed really needed to win them to try to get -- new programs started. But in both instances they're really kind of got away with one John. And they can't afford to play like that this week if they're going to beat the two big boys into England and Indianapolis and I'm a I think Jack was going to have to do some things a lot better played better -- below more committed to run. And I think saw little nervousness that it gave accord last week. Who who you know first playoff start through to pick -- only 23 during the regular season I think that we will give them a few looks I think the most doing what would try to quick strike them. And take them out of their game the difference between throwing what you want to and throwing when you have to these yards apart and I like New England Patriots commute to -- their track."
[34:54]" A wouldn't be at all surprised to see the no huddle offense come out. There's so Jacksonville can make substitutions. Again just try to move it right there on the field on them quickly and again as I said I think the first quarter is most important most important for Saturday night. Russell great to visit -- again thank you for a little change in schedule this afternoon greatly appreciated and perhaps we should do plan on looking at the U two championship games next Thursday."
[35:20]" I -- that emotion -- enjoy we have extra. That's Russell Baxter once again with the yet. NFL research coordinator for ESPN and he joins us so on Thursday and again we're kind of -- Thursday mode -- in the program today because of the shorter week with the Saturday game as opposed to beat someday get. Going to get in a time out here the email address again is web radio -- patriots dot com if you want to predict the game. If you want to give me the score if you want to say on the the patriots are going to take advantage of Paul Spicer big mouth and and they're going to rob -- actually believe that you've -- Jacksonville got a shot to win this thing. Right now is your time to do it normal how much time we're going to have to do emails and tomorrow she'll. So if you have any inkling at all to -- your thoughts now about the matchup with the jaguars this weekend. Speak now or. Email now. Or forever hold your peace because it may be moot point after Saturday -- radio -- patriots dot com -- tell you reaches your of the program. [40:39]" Pro bowlers. And affected Jackson only had one and scorched Fred Taylor this was named the team officially yesterday as an injury replacement for Le parker and quite frankly I do believe that they got plenty of the old global -- the shoulder. Gotta get after you know they can definitely Jack Del Rio -- head coach can definitely play. The disrespect -- This of course we know it's been almost the exclusive domain. Of the New England Patriots for the last several years maybe every year in this entire decade. Patriots played the disrespect card and used it very well much to their advantage now did did the shoes on the other foot. In this is worth that this is the great expecting going in this is where you just don't know how to team's responded. When a they have the disrespect card on their shoulder and B you're used to having that and yet you're thrust into the role of a heavy favorite the big bad bullies. And that's what the patriots are. -- the team that used to be the team that played the disrespect card. That's not the case now. In what way -- the patriots possibly turn this around and used much there is one all the -- Paul -- do little bit to help himself or at Charlotte say help the patriots in that regard and not exactly help himself. Or his teammates in that regard. To the pages and well Jesus spice -- feels that way or the other guys in the locker room thank. You know that don't liquidity credit into what we've done. I mean regardless of what you think about what might have happened back after week one in the jets you know you don't think that that you know the patriots will find a way to did too. Play that the district court based on the of the fifteen weeks I think. So that's why I just -- when I heard that he'd said that and I heard all the stuff happened yesterday about that and I'm like you got to be kidding me. Win the people when they learn. Why are some people idiots. That had to be one of the single most more run it. Things I've heard a pro players now in a long long time why would you stoke the fires when you know Gordon. Doggone well -- the patriots thrive on that kind of situation. He's just not a very smart man and you noticed that everyone else that has been asked about his comments. From Jack Del -- right on down. -- today you know it is what it is they're just words or you know and we selected -- perform on the field and the very short there almost. -- with their comments in responding to sponsor. What that tells me again. Having been around a locker room -- two what that tells me is that they jumped on him pretty -- quickly. They might have beaten him into submission. What are you an idiot what do you more on what you're doing keep your stink and mouth shut. There's no doubt in my mind there's actually -- This will be the eighth time in history the patriots and jaguars have faced off against each other. And of course is Russell -- just a short while ago teams last met in the playoffs following the 2005 regular season two years ago. The patriots won 28 that the right at Gillette so this is officially the second time in three years that these two teams have met in the post season. In fact out of -- The seven previous meetings between the patriots and jaguars again when the patriots have won six of those seven previous meetings. Three of them have been in the playoffs of course the twenty to six win. On -- then Foxboro stated in January of 97 for the AFC championship. On the put the patriots in that Super Bowl against Green -- And then of course they lost -- Divisional playoff game in 1999 when Pete Carroll was still coaching the patriots -- at Alltel stadium in Jacksonville lost that went 25 to ten and -- well that's the only way and the Jacksonville has all the knowing -- the patriots then won a couple of years ago at Gillette 283. So the last time these two teams that played in the regular season was also back in that. Was actually the 6 seasons it was last year patriots one point 421 at the tail end of last season a game and in Jacksonville. -- just a very short history but a lot of it is dominated by games that certainly have -- meaning. And if you wondering about the rest of the series trends and playoff records in the old -- going to step the patriots in this playoff around the divisional. Playoff round of the AFC playoffs patriots are seven and five all time. They have one for trouble last five divisional playoff game that they have participated and that starts with -- On the sixteen to thirteen overtime win over Oakland would follow that what they win in a bitterly cold night. -- in Foxborough as -- pitchers several of you remember against Tennessee in 20041714 win over the titans. And then a twenty to three win over Indianapolis two years ago. When the patriots beat Vince might have had their single best performance ever in a playoff situation when they just crushed the colts that. The -- last loss came in the divisional round at Denver. After the Euro 2005 regular season on January the fourteenth 2006. Game at -- which the patriots lost 27 at thirteen so that was the last time they lost in this round of the playoffs and of course last year that won the divisional playoff. At San Diego by surprising the chargers who at times had the best record in the NFL at fifteen and wonder in the regular season and they managed when it point four. If you want. So there's a little bit of a history a little bit of background a little bit of book trying to pick up from basically where we come from where this one is concerned. On Saturday quickie meal here and that we're going to get to -- said the patriots locker room coming up we got some -- locker room interviews from earlier today at Gillette stadium. Mike Vrabel Kyle Brady and Rodney Harrison. Upcoming for you here in just a couple of moments in the meantime that more from Miami since this notices John Jacksonville is a well balanced team. It is going to be a good match for our team and -- the ball. There'll always be a want to open his mouth and say what ever. The call the attention. I definitely got a lot of respect for the jaguars it is that time of the season when your playbook has to be marked on the special -- and players need to make sure that too well beyond them. In the -- focuses what is going to help this team in those situation old moments. The jaguars and that we push us he says to that situation alleged let's remember where in the playoffs every team is good. I prefer Democrats and for this wonderful season they have given us already -- My thanks go to all the patriot network craft what production group but an amazing job throughout the season ago everybody gets a little cute toast thanks -- Appreciate email no doubt -- I think that you're absolutely right when you say that the jaguars have the type of team that can push the patriots to a situation all edge. No doubt. The coin flip maybe the most crucial coin flip of the didn't fire season. Because there's no doubt in my in. Then whoever wins the coin flip on Saturday night is going to take the football. And if your Jacksonville oh you're gonna take the football and you going to try to grind it. And you're going to try to push and you're going to could Jules and you're gonna move the ball on the ground as best as you possibly can. You gonna try to chew up 789 minutes on the clock. In the opening drive of the football game and you get points out of it even -- a field goal you have to get points. Conversely the patriots with a coin flip on Saturday. I expect him to come around five wide -- maybe even a little no huddle who knows. And I think that the -- weighted down the field and jump on the jaguars as quickly as they possibly -- that's what I personally would expect. What do you expect. Web radio at patriots dot com. That's the email address you want to give us your thoughts on the game now is the time to do so let's get you into in the US going to the ramble here from patriots coach Bill Belichick we will also hear promote Ty Warren in Junior Seau. Coming up the next -- the program as well and we are anticipating and we hope that this will occur anticipating. A visit from the Cashman who was the jaguars dot com senior -- we can't get their viewpoint as well it's not yet confirmed what -- hopeful of that can happen and it will come up in the second our program in the meantime -- schedule it said the patriots locker -- what you know what the guys are thinking today. As we are now just three days away from kickoff in this AFC divisional matchup might -- able Kyle Brady Rodney Harrison. Make triple."
[50:03]" Well I mean I think they'd like to throw the ball to drew a little more than I -- Taylor but. Don't talk about them run the ball this you know they're not drawn up and he plays differently for for one guy the other they're both of them well. Average and went over five once close -- really two good back you complete back they can make him run. Both can catch screens drew on the back field. And in -- in the bar. There's trees over there. I mean I mean. National Football League him in his life and we played a lot of because of the week -- they you know backs run hard so. I don't know what size matter race day and week out. It they want to play well you -- who said it and his court I don't know if right exactly so. I mean. We we put whoever whoever's you know we gotta play you know they'd be they'd be good Pittsburgh team last week and now so. You know now it's our turn to try to take them you know -- play and play again. -- these guys -- challenges. I mean I think that his ability to stay efficient and be really smart ball and makes a big time throws. Coupled with the fact that when you look at the game last week forced into this season on the line. They got a lot of options through Taylor. To run the ball where they chose to keep in his hands I think that that tell -- where where their confidence level with him getting two yards against Pittsburgh he. Thanks cat and Brady."
[52:01]" Yes yet -- effective in the room wasted different styles between different sizes were there is nothing but. -- for their own room way. Up -- It it's fun yeah that's and these guys you've spent years there along one organizations -- We've talked -- friendly -- on things that you made fools of David -- watch him. I'm not surprising elect Robinson is as a quarterback in the guy's stance and ball. In critical situations it -- like that the honorable he's dead you can do you know -- the ball receivers and also take off and run when he needs to and he -- the world that would. -- it much because practice and pre season. It was prepared as well as an office of going against those guys each season. It is strength and quickness with with the size and strength so. There child -- a little bit again he questions and it's it's pretty things and do what field well -- it yet but. -- just. Thanks and keep talking about this object to is how much of it is the players that -- draft. How much like his Jericho."
[53:52]" Earnings combinations certainly is -- philosophy on both sides of the ball so if you -- look for players that fit that bill so long. To go in the like players in the kind of mentality and they continue to wrong reasons in -- sense. There if you do you just talk about being physical drills to make it -- it's yes all of the above -- around. Talk about -- so talk about it it's -- mentality that they want to one took. Exude on the field and then. The -- practice and him work. Being that way you know hit him -- physical comfort zone."
[54:34]" But -- just expected but in the time -- any kind of the bureau move dossier on the guy's tendencies you know sponsor and you know it."
[54:45]" Yeah you. -- so -- each other you accuse each other except me. His pre season it is he's so what's your children you always hear it in the pre season it would only talking about -- funny if someone else you know we're. Beat each other so much so you'd do. They've got it and I didn't community and in the same can be said about them with me -- they know what things I'd like to do and stuff so. Some ways it I think it could be an advantage but they've got saint. -- written I out religious -- there is advertisers what your bottles -- there. Big strong physical guys and they've got a few quick -- and if you refer to spotted it means you know Spicer and Hayward are bigger and or physical guys crazy quicker guy and then there's Brent Hawkins to close out -- and -- times and situations and he's quick you know removed and everything and so -- have been referred to."
[55:50]" you guys point six. I don't know sixteen and everybody expects to."
[55:55]" I think the biggest I don't think everyone expects -- I think a lot of people expect this expect to lose nothing abnormal minds that. People basically it's on its leader whose game eventually won I would Jacksonville's -- Are forced us our minds that if not sixteen you know but we're alone right now we're starting at the bottom and we got to go win you the winning ball. And now. 12 -- I mean he can impose their will on you because they have to physical running backs that. I mean both those guys like 4344 guys that get Baltic into the house. Very physical people offensive line -- receivers in the run game I mean as well as they get the downfield so these guys can make plays with their legs but they can also. Plays catch the ball past him."
[56:57]" On the matchup of the your friend."
[57:02]" I don't think it is I -- follow us I mean we're not I mean you you're concerned about it -- not overly concerned like. He had anything like that means just. It's not an opportunity forced to go against. Probably the best running team in the National Football League whether statistically what have you. And and and religious stance -- I mean they're big they're physical but we felt like were physical as well. So while I mean if we couldn't play defense trust me we -- the type of success that we had this year. -- most. Network -- I think and when you speak of play -- and then to -- the magnitude of the game I think definitely it's going to be very physical game because. I mean you have done tell offseason he'll. So you better come -- better bring your big boy pads on and you better get ready not somebody hit off."
[57:59]" me even more consistently."
[58:03]" a -- asked -- in the press conference and really my mind that hasn't been on losing my mind that is not really remain positive thing. And -- on the preparation everything we have to do to get ready for his game so. Lose in -- mindset hasn't even crossed my mind -- go out there to win and that's only go. But that count -- Well I think obviously I mean if he's not house you know on traditional -- and in the pocket type -- Of course you know because he hurt Pittsburgh -- blades and and I -- at crucial wasn't forced into whatever you and they were run thirty yards so. -- to safety -- and makes me artists -- released set up that score well of course he poses a threat what I was late because god. It may be eighteen touchdowns and three interceptions on reckless he's always not turning the ball over and he's he's playing very efficient and he's very confident he's smart player. -- I don't even remember I mean in my mind is so focused on Jacksonville I don't really remember who we played in maybe lack of Cleo Lemon very got got that can -- very elusive Barry's well he's a lot bigger man Cleo Lemon but very strong. And sort of like Ben Roethlisberger he'll scramble and he'll get the ball down field that you can never give up on."
[59:29]" That's Rodney Harrison in the patriots locker room earlier today at Gillette stadium. As we get into our number to a patriots playbook I'm John -- up crap our friend from germantown Maryland since this -- I think this game John will be close early on and the patriots will take complete control. And put it out of reach by the fourth quarter my prediction is pats will win by eleven or more. John I'm reading a lot of articles written by various sports writers on line in the continue to say that the colts are dangers is that I don't have the pressure on them to win it. Manning's finally won his ring and the fact that nobody's talking about the colts. It's all patriots all over the media are in this a bit ridiculous coming from these writers because they're the ones who hyped up the patriots and rightfully so is there. Single team goes sixteen you know. So the media is trying to scare patriot fans as they wheel -- a rude awakening when they play the colts. They honestly think the pats -- giving a hoot about the media attention they are receiving. And on the the Bill Belichick coached team can ever care about media created quite. The respect to themselves for teams like Jacksonville Pittsburgh in the colts as teams that could knock them off the playoffs. I think the pats know that this season means nothing. Unless they achieve nineteen though. And all of a strangely proud and be confident that they will not fold or fall to any outer pressures that by the media. And of course Hubert Rodney speak a little toward that just a couple of moments ago -- won't bring a -- email very timely preparation that. Squeeze in a time out here we've got much more to come here and our number two patriots playbook."

[1:04:05]" Quarterbacks are patriots playbook as we roll along here on Wednesday slash Thursday and it's sort of a Thursday. Programming day here because of the shorter work week with a Saturday night's game and so things a little bit this can populated by what I want to take just a moment you'd think. Like for -- Chris price for boast and show yesterday it was a out on the road him traveling in factoring the normal showtime from two to 4 PM eastern time. So those guys were kind of the host of page play book forests yesterday. -- course those a lot of work for the Woonsocket call in the journal register newspapers throughout New England. Chris price for the Boston metro and capture me if you read Chris price's book that he wrote on the patriots dominance and the alleged dynasty and how was built and all that kind of good stuff and that in fact I just finished reading the book someone past and onto me and had a chance to read it -- just wrapped up on -- train -- yesterday afternoon sort of ironic that it it turned out that way and to admit I thought it was it was great easy read. Very quick it was great to get some of the inside knowledge on how the patriots basically have turned. Themselves around from this you know sad sack also -- of a franchise that many of us were all too familiar with into eighteen that is now. Being copied by almost literally every other team in the National Football League in solo -- a former fashion so great read anyways I think those two -- for most implacable force yesterday and sure that the that will happen in at some point in time in the meantime I don't know if you're aware of this but Tom Brady three you know against Jacksonville has not thrown ever. An interception against the jaguars -- many interceptions this year at all but isn't on interception against the jaguars every you don't play him three times -- that's not a lot. In three starts against the -- is six touchdowns no picks. Saturating I think it's like 1415 so -- around others would be a pretty decent performance he hasn't had. To be able to wing it down the field certainly not in the former affectionate he has done this year. But he's never -- pick -- you know let me knock -- swimming that kind of stuff -- want to jinx anybody here. On disk in this week he we know the patriots have set the scoring record right. High scoring team all time in a -- single season history. Did you know however that this game on Saturday will not only -- the highest scoring team. But also -- second highest scoring team in the second half of this past season. Tried the jaguars the patriots scored 258 points in the final eight games. Jack or scored. 256 point. In the last eight games of the regular season that was ranked one and -- in the NFL in highest scoring. -- you didn't know that. Jackson -- eminently capable moving the football and when they do get in the red zone of putting the ball in the end zone. David partners a reason why Jack Del Rio and the jaguars chose him ultimately over. Overall I'm sorry would then we've tournament. -- that we great aren't good I'll continue that mr. ball because the catchment who -- senior editor project we're."
[1:07:25]" Dot com George's you're inside play book that just took your very nice of you to take the time to visit with a for a couple of minutes thank you hear very well. Now what don't -- it's okay it. I was just going to help the reason why the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to go David Gerrard to begin with when they had an opportunity to make a choice at quarterback. And the reason at least that I thought that they had -- that is because Corey is a guy that might beat -- totally unspectacular but he doesn't do a lot to beat himself. Well for his team and I think that was the kind of model that the team was looking for agree or disagree."
[1:08:05]" I am. Yeah that's that's except if you were on the inside that you witnessed this says president -- day by day you would have. You wouldn't have that opinion he -- and he just buried Byron Leftwich is great guy you know on. And I hope he has a great career Byron was reinstated on February 22 as the team's starting quarterback. Which may have been the earliest time in history that a guy -- hit at this starting quarterback for his season. And so we had to go through -- few -- you know. This this. This reinstatement and I don't forget to grow are going to finish this the previous season as the starting quarterback and that we go into training camp with this and it was about the second week of training camp that and let which was playing well early in camp. I think certainly can training camp -- are just went to another level I'm I mean just became an eye popping performer. And that was it is ability to throw the ball away it was in his ability to avoid interceptions in training camp in the pre season games. That that shot his stock up to the point that Jack Del Rio made of the starting quarterback it was the fact that he was. It was playing an eye popping bubble touchdown passes. Hand you know 7080% completion percentage is in the pre season games in. And how long drives in big play he took his game to another level and I can remember remember the day in practice and training camp that start -- just all the sudden the light went on and he became the one thing that he had never previously becoming that was in and that was to say that's just an accurate passer all the said the ball was. Was on the receivers hands it was. -- chest tie it was on the right hit. It was outrun them there the receiver on a deep ball it was -- down you know just everything was perfect. Any help that the entire season are really don't see him. And having been you know just stay in efficient quarterback all season long truth be known it's his procedures that are a position add that he does he doesn't have a Randy Monty doesn't have a Wes Welker he doesn't have a Jabar Gaffney Ian yeah. In many ways -- doesn't UK unit is very very average cast of receivers. And he's made the most of their talents he he's one of three quarterbacks I believe in the league this year to finish this season what -- Passer rating of 100 or above right it'd -- being Brady Roethlisberger. And the reason why he's touched down passes are row at competitive obviously Brady and Roethlisberger Romo and and Anderson in Cleveland and and Palmer and Cincinnati's center is because he had first -- missed three games it was actually four games. He it is stretch they got it injured early in the first half against Indianapolis. And then this and then mr. list of their game in the next three so there's four games take away you know another. What 68 touchdown passes five -- touchdown passes there and and the other thing is as I said he just he didn't have. Doesn't have big play receivers he doesn't have touched down making receivers but when it comes to eighteen plays when he played Rodney -- He I mean he hit -- king although long touchdown drive of you know being eighteen point play touchdown drives. And that. I guarantee that this thing. If I may steal from Anthony Smith I guarantee that the thing that did have to worry is -- Bill Belichick because. Time -- points minutes are points. And you're. Minutes -- Tom Brady is on the field the few points but put the patriots are going to score I I love the way the jaguars match up in that way I don't like the way to jaguars match up on the other side of the ball I think that was -- real problem. We saw that this past Saturday night. Ben Roethlisberger against state jaguars defense that was dropping seven. Seven guys in the coverage on almost every down because they're getting so much pressure without war. We're still able to throw over 337 yard 337 yards against the seven man passed these -- you know. That's that's whether -- electoral probably that's why more than is more important ever. That that they have these eighteen point play drives in in in a perfect world the jaguars would take when he plays to score to recognize I recovered the onside kick and and and take twenty more."
[1:13:18]" Right right. I have to admit that I've been very impressed as you suggested with the guards the development and that it has come rapidly and certainly seems to have the kind of team built around him that it will help him not have to do what he can't do."
[1:13:35]" The next I don't know -- I don't know what it can't definitely that's. That's the popular -- with this -- that you witnessed -- can this game manager you know telling what he can't you know I. He's got one postseason start and played very poorly everything for the league and there's another bargain this is another level right but it in the regular season. He was one of two quarterbacks in the league this year that they did not have a bad game and you know the other one minutes on. Telling when he can't -- he he threw a beautiful deep ball he threw. Accurately through the immediate routes he threw the -- wheel rout of the screens this swing passes. He rushed for yardage. He god he ran the offense he did long -- keep it short drives. I don't see anything he can't do yet there is this tag on him. Well he's -- limited he's day game manager that tank at that would put on Ben Roethlisberger to -- game saying thank you got a game then later."
[1:14:38]" well I would have gunslinger -- him he definitely won't pick catchment senior editor for jaguars dot com joining us here instead play book. What's the fallout over Paul -- comments."
[1:14:51]" Com yeah I just that stuff means it means -- zero this little story sure. I covered -- viewers all through the seventies and enforceable six years I don't ever. Ever remember seeing a bulletin board. I don't ever remember seeing a they were highlighted on on -- wall anywhere in the locker who once -- well you know. You don't usually here in this been with the raiders it was a very very violence series it was it was just a fantastic rivalry rivalry. Physical football on the field and what is opposite field -- why why don't usually that the stuff says boredom bored with tier material and in -- as a distraction. If your players are thinking about words other players are saying they're not thinking about that then they have to think about to play well on Saturday here. In that case -- this case Saturday. I really -- would these words are good what do these weren't going to do we have ever -- also saying. You know all that pep talk crap that is long in the first time we get knocked on your -- Right and die so I know that this is good for the fans. That can't let this could advance camp played a physical game while they complain that psychological game all baker plays the game of words that there that would put the players are going to do Saturday night. It's established and the first when they kick the ball up it's done it's over you're you know at all by the shoulders now it's not about the amount."
[1:16:28]" Absolutely in fact I think evicted the key point in this ball game on Saturday could very easily beat the coin flip and then into the first quarter simply because. Both teams have to walk the ball first they want to control tempo. They want the patriots want to get our quick forced Jackson will come from behind Jackson wants to hold on the ball he put away from knowing when."
[1:16:51]" two yeah I would you know I I think. Maybe repeat Jews in the and the way sure I repeat which he said they're two issued in his game in my oh Jacksonville running game because. They have to run the ball to dominate out of position they will not have any chance to win this game is pretty has kind of possession. The longer it on the field the worst is is going to get so they have to run the ball -- have to dominate the positions that we start with the running game. The jaguars have to be able to run the ball let's not forget. Who the coach is for you -- king Bill Belichick know not forget that in the 2001. And 2004 AFC title game against Pittsburgh Pittsburgh had the number one number two rushing games in Italy. And they were stuff the ballot -- is going to that you can do is run the ball he's gonna take away. I -- guaranteed and the Steelers did that Saturday night against the jaguars. They they put the ball in David -- our hands and he was shaky. In his first post season starts he did not look like the guy I have seen -- regulations. So I think we start with that he stuck with the running game and you start with the fact that Bill Belichick is going. To the first thing you can do in this game is whatever it takes to take the run away. And put the game and -- and number one the number two thing issue in this game it is part of concern is Tom Brady. Obviously because he's going against the past -- fans that was not very good this year. And it is coming off -- 337 yard performance against Ben Roethlisberger who. Through half the ball. Perhaps those passes -- obviously year. Amir you know what was lying on the ground almost I -- he was under constant barrage of pass -- so. The jets were coming off a very poor performance in very poor performance against the pats will bring bring go to ball pretty. And that's a problem I'd like how the jaguar to match up on one side of the ball. And I hate the way match up on the other side of the ball so like I've said it better every real good and run the ball on. Bear Stearns and onside -- stupid I really don't even stopping Tom Brady."
[1:19:19]" And yet I thought that the machine at this had a pretty good game last week and in return one for a touchdown in the -- I would imagine he would see some time perhaps against moss."
[1:19:27]" rather rush to -- Roethlisberger is -- what he's offensive line is horrible. It is just horrible they're going to rebuild that whole thing I have to rebuild it and he was. Sacked six times he was probably carried fifteen times. Fifteen more times a couple of those interceptions were there was a definite element of desperation and I think it -- exasperation in the two. And he was able to compose himself in the second half. And end in -- get into a better rhythm with the short because try to stay away from the rush -- they still they. They poured in on him. -- welcoming happened Saturday night against Brady the patriots offensive line. Is not going to -- or -- five guys aren't going to get whipped by the board which it would happen in Pittsburgh war was whipping. -- and that's not going to happen -- Brady's going to get the timing needs to throw. And that's where I go back a 337 yard passing Roethlisberger was able to do -- stands on -- head. Brady will be standing nicely."
[1:20:33]" The -- maybe I think we're still come uncertain as to what kind of put real protection he'll have all the -- thought that -- Callahan and some others did a fairly representative jobless timeout but."
[1:20:45]" I made it as a little crashes this year. What's that this be a little consuming kind great events sacked 21 times and Roethlisberger have been sacked fifty during."
[1:20:54]" A little difference -- a little different -- Overall coming into this game did Jacksonville did you did anybody there did anybody have the feeling that this was going to be an inevitability that they would end -- coming to New England."
[1:21:11]" And I don't know that I love the game last week you know. I was just a beautiful post season football games steeler played wonderful football jaguars came back had to come back to win not I I never sent inevitability I think the jaguars in a little bit of away or destiny's darlings that got their Cinderella thing going here. I really think it'd be did the analysis is that this game is real real simple the patriots stop the jaguars to run. It to blow up. If the -- wanted to run the ball. There in the game I would I really I think this has really simple. I think the patriots have to obviously have a greater pressure on them in the jaguars is just -- his stuff is. You know can become a I choke chain of sorts. But what do the patriots not. Risen to the occasion when -- not you know was still in the face of pressure I'm I'm not going to tell you that the New England Patriots are a great football and is going to -- the best quarterback -- that's the difference. Someone asked me what the patriots greatest weakness and I said they don't have to Tom Brady's. You get this guy at a game people. I mean hey you know let's let's let's not be silly here it's not -- let's not think that the New England Patriots have a magic water. Bill Belichick was five and thirteen. When he -- Tom Brady's starting quarterback check the record after that."
[1:22:49]" Very true quick court if I could then about Fred Taylor getting added to the pro ball which I think is obviously along deserved. Honor for him and fact is is that he is the only pro -- representative for this team and might. Brett and his teammates used that is a bit of a disrespect card coming."
[1:23:08]" And the patriots -- really patriots and really got some psychological warfare -- all believe it listen let me tell you lived their lives in -- We're well personal you know week after it got back into decent. We get the opinion that -- they Anthony that they did you -- to -- board material. Go back that you would look this -- played in New England go back to when they played in the against the jets. You'll see -- done the first play of the game. The jets did one this -- things and then appeasement. That is running forward at the ball as being thrown behind him for a touchdown -- so well before. He built on the plate take against the patriots. He bid on the plate that against the jets. He built on the -- they against the jaguars and the -- was in in week fifteen. And a -- worst through a long touchdown pass to Dennis Northcutt is what -- that that's so. Really double -- we decided it was. Anthony this ridiculous guarantees they won against the patriots we might want to take it. Take a look at these this track record and they play -- I mean this is really going to get. Kind of not. The pointed that that I've become bulletin board material for an asterisk. Oh please do more than -- down could have been done what it would negate the good stuff he should put an asterisk on. This whole thing is not the patriots happy band tactic football team. And then have to coach and they beat the best game quarterback who's ever let. They are what twelve and half point favorites they should be this is a major uphill battle -- for the jaguars but bulletin board material is gonna -- nothing to do it."
[1:25:01]" And I was Fred Taylor feel about his pro -- inclusion obvious I would guess that answer and they won it for years and years because."
[1:25:10]" Yeah no doubt Dayton great career although I don't get that. You should want to not make the probable then you'd have a real identity. The best player -- make the probable that you know he didn't like them and that I can you know you're right you like it. That's you know it's crazy how these these things happen I mean you know what's. What was chemicals and tax -- Tom -- in ball. Best player never to win at me immediately broke through the US open that's how you could become though it is indeed gained -- early. They were interviewed outweigh that there were. It won -- I think this is image is identity should be that and they beat the best. Did play well when running back in history had this guy is he's right with Barry Sanders he's got you litany while runs like no one I've ever covered. He if he had played. On AMA championship football team through all the years should be on the tip of everybody's time. But down you know he played in Jacksonville all and he played mostly poor. Non playoff games and now he's getting his fifteen minutes of fame. He's got a great season he's a great guy and he's got he's going to be the guy we want to want to interview in Honolulu and I am happy is now."
[1:26:44]" But stuff Vick veteran again senior editor -- jet or dot -- pick thank you for a few minutes Willa Ford division with the on a Saturday night I -- Catchment who is the a long time writer in the National Football League. Covering not only of the jaguars manager heard Wednesday -- several years covering the Pittsburgh Steelers and some very good suitable dominant teams in Pittsburgh over the years. And he's not covering the Jack or for their team website and some good insight there just -- bit of an idea just the flavor just. How would is they're coming through with things from the other side of the field. Unita different perspective -- that's one of the things we try to do obviously you're inside the playable and every week four if not every show. Is to give you the other side to give you a feel for what these other guys the other teams the other players what they're thinking and how they're approaching. New England and the patriots and especially in this what has been an unbelievable record setting year it doesn't come as a surprise that a lot of team look at this it's huge challenge and he's absolutely right when it concerned. Let's get back of the interviews get two for you today again radio. Patriots dot com as the email address if you got some comments coming up on the game who predict the score he can do that as well in the meantime oh what's what you listen in to Ty Warren. Patriots defensive tackle defensive end defensive lineman whichever spot you want to light him up -- that's what he does. In the down three or the downpour for the patriots in the Warren had a chance to visit with the media members here Gillette stadium."

[1:36:31]" Ty Warren again on the podium earlier at the Gillette stadium with members of the patriots media present. As he gives his thoughts on preparing for the Jacksonville Jaguars don't know if you know this or not but. Jags -- just want to fourteens. Which patriots own an undefeated home record they're four and oh all time in Jack budget hours at Gillette stadium. Patriots are also by the way the other three teams they're undefeated at home against in the NFL Baltimore to know Chicago three you know and Houston want to know. So jackal just want to fourteen that is you know coming in and has never beaten the patriots on their home field. Patriots as we've already talked about today have beaten the jaguars twice previously in the playoffs back in 96 and also a couple of years ago 2005. And that makes Jackson now one of six teams. Against which the patriots -- multiple playoff wins. They -- three playoff wins over Pittsburgh they don't boo a piece over Indy Miami the jets and the raiders. Also -- 2 with a Jack worth the try to make it three of course on Saturday nights but just you know some little interest in tidbit that come across here that. You might not have known that -- We like to bring it up courts right. Course of the reason that you heard from Kyle Brady -- early in the programs because -- he has a tremendous connection with the jaguars played with -- were 48 seasons from nineteen and and and 2006 eight caught more than 2500 yards and receiving yards or Jacksonville. I'm by the way that is still third on Jacksonville's career. Receiving yards list and we look in his number here 241 passes for those twenty even hundred yards in the 241 receptions our fourth. Overall and jaguars history actually is quite a bit of history obviously with. Jacksonville I'm sure that is something that the patriots are leaning on quite heavily this week is that you can attack. Let's relief that the biggest connection between the two sides this week I don't know. I guess I'm a little bit. Good -- I I don't want to -- uncertain I do have a relatively good feeling about the game going in on Saturday I did think that but this time a week ago we were beginning to kind of broached the subject and think that Jack might be one of the opponents the Jackson would be the most difficult match up of the ones that were available -- the patriots in this particular instance at could have been Tennessee could have been Pittsburgh. I personally thought that Pittsburgh might squeeze in obviously that game. Certainly came close to -- come that way but Jackson got a daughter millions of credits -- good with the jaguars concerned but of those three teams that I there was no doubt in my mind that Jack was going to be the most difficult match up of the three. And I big big catchment again from -- we're -- put it best this game really kind of comes out of very simple premise which team got to got to control the ball. And the jaguars running -- the patriots. And the patriots have the ball long enough in order to score enough. And the first quarter is going to be huge it's just going to be -- now yes. Turnovers -- the great equalizer especially the playoffs as we talk about the opening -- program today with -- Russell Baxter arm. You know it could be. 21 to three year 21 to seven or what have you and -- cruising along in the third quarter. And you know maybe the patriots to get credited knock on the door -- blow the game open in what was that won't turn over. Maybe April picked gets returned the the -- maybe a probable people when you're into the field and -- allow them achieved be another back and it. A huge momentum swing is what you want to try to avoid if of course it goes against you got to avoid those in the playoffs. That's the only thing that can bring that team back from the business that's the one thing the patriots must avoid. And that's the one thing they need to try to force upon Jacksonville. Is in momentum changing event with a come through defense. Turnovers special teams big plays offense. That's what you look for. That wrap up today's program with the patriots head coach Bill Belichick from earlier today at Gillette stadium so again you can get the latest from the coach tomorrow -- revenue will be somewhat abbreviated only because we'll have Michael spoke with his normal patriots Friday programming. From -- ESP NN Boston he's moving is scheduled to tomorrow because the patriot players on available on Friday the normal day because of the Saturday game. So they've pushed everything back -- week. And so he will be along just shortly I believe after 2 PM tomorrow will be here would you for a little bit of the program tomorrow an abbreviated version of you'll play book and then Michael -- with some -- patriots Friday interviews. For you during this time slot tomorrow. Are wrapping up today's program here's patriots head coach bill ballot."
[1:41:45]" And -- What along situations so it's."
[1:41:50]" It -- Mendoza. Hello well yeah. Okay."
[1:42:15]" Then in the car."
[1:42:20]" And you know consumers dogs get -- and hurtful so they all other category I think any quarterback or. An offense that they could help an office a team that in that matter what their skills that are. All or quit whatever so and that's the bottom line. Then how they've fit in them that's. That in the that there are the different."
[1:42:55]" We'll figure -- do what we're -- players little after. -- you know regular season."
[1:43:04]" Sure it won't we -- to Tom collier so this week doesn't go. Under pressure -- It's sweet week -- on any challenges and that point through this week so. The good -- good control of bearing on this. Walker's back up in the locker room you know him and so good lines good -- all the way through here. Think that it's their homework done you know for the most part. I mean -- in on the part of the -- but in general. That individual. Yeah I was the that's running game only had two great backs they can hit a home run that got long runs that they've got pro and most long runs and only. -- little -- you're on third down short yardage goal line those kind of situations so. They're very good on blitz pickup. On -- about the running game does that -- back they do a good job there and big physical offensive line. A lot of different personnel combinations to tight end three tight ends. It could pick fullback and Jones so they they do a lot of different ways. And a good run ball on all three downs that are that good balance and along -- situations which. But it -- those third downs and go back around again and that's what they do or backgrounds so that they to a lot of different ways."
[1:44:48]" The -- to have. All of them I feel he's a big physical."
[1:44:55]" Quarterback totals it's like -- don't they draft and Ireland. But that's what they're famous father their big physical and I think they're big at every position. On -- receiver they're they're quarterback's that's a big lines the corners are big. On the lines there. -- but it. Henderson trial that Grady Jackson got final much bigger now -- that -- wearing her for. There they're bigger response then that even the players that. But it Leftwich and he was the -- about not a big guy -- Kyle Brady was decked him and it they've had big players there and players have moved on or whatever and that whatever circumstances were in the next wave comes -- they're they're big too. I've presented yeah talent -- term ever were zone. Unique Townshend and has only you get open and some guys do size and speed and quickness technique. Some pants that mimic other pitchers that way you know so. Each guy has his own dating in other bigger receiver group good north -- he's he's not the biggest guy but he's fast he's quick. Obviously that he's very good -- Lawton as a returner and as people players people for a they have a nice combination of player's skill you know Wilford. Hewitt those guys have really good hands they catch everything that big target and they would -- I am -- thought there agrees that he's a real athletic so got a good group of them. -- I hope they get dramatically different. It our linebackers -- I bring out those giant tapes and show what we're doing back then how we didn't. Let them take a look at. It's sort of of the kids want to carry over. Technique was the place. Gil it's there's there's not I don't think it's changed dramatically over there -- changes but basically there's a lot of or similar. Who more often and I would like you know whatever's appropriate or what are we going to go over something that. Committee showed an example from somebody else don't. You know for whatever reason we just haven't had a situation come up or they we go back to remind him about on the we're not doing well like about -- look at it and kind of -- refresh my guest -- coach that are or maybe technique little bit differently experts certain certain things you know it's all."
[1:48:22]" club was making strides against the run."
[1:48:26]" I think each each week's its own every game's its own unique entity so. What do you couldn't. Play well against wanting. That the necessarily mean you can play well and -- I don't think that. You gotta do it every week are all over again breakdown how many teams -- it you know opponent gonna how you're going to defendant. -- there. What threat how they do it. -- handle the different blocking schemes that are personal guys that are blocking and so it's and it's different everywhere and going to make any difference. Look what happened last week it's up trying to. And they came to challenge. They're good accounts."
[1:49:13]" It's like hello I don't know."
[1:49:19]" In the end anyway we we always try to -- he's alive."
[1:49:30]" I mean honestly do you think -- ever coached him but that is -- all -- and it gives -- 45 and we'll -- I mean we always try to play statements I know it doesn't look like it out there. We always try to play experience for more whatever it takes. Every play every situation to prepare for everything in -- go all the way. However long it takes that do whatever it takes so there's there's been no change in an emphasis. I can't remember one we talked about that in 2000 and every year and every game I -- believe we've numbers. -- what's going to happen this week -- ticket --"
[1:50:19]" He played a -- physical team with a powerful running game. There's no matter most relief meetings or --"
[1:50:28]" Been able to do your job. Look here's some everybody's going to get walk you know it's not likely or any other team runs plays where the Zito want them block -- when the blocks our. -- cooperate or in everybody gets gets blocked by somebody question how they. And it. They set it up. Hands over your going to have to defeat a block and against tackle goes the ball. Whoever that happens. Yeah you know comes down to -- a good technique and good leverage do good job attack went. Everybody that in the right Wagner -- play good team on the that's what the running game is that -- at all it's okay. It goes to do the job one guy doesn't doesn't get the runner -- they got to play that we make any difference that the six government is involved in the play. It's team defense Irish government again. Can't we can't awful one guy -- Indiana. Got to defeat of walking got a couple around there's there's no way around you might gain another law against somebody -- that's not going to do for along."
[1:51:59]" Edited your feelings that -- good job force that is -- we -- going to do. Like everybody else not perfect but then than the little better than what we've earlier. Recently so. That was good athlete is consistent that is not a good job Holton street I think he's got a good job and it was a public has given us. Give -- good poise and he's been overall consistent -- course here. You're very different. There every day -- practice and he's he's here early days late. Got a lot of energy out on the field very vocal communicating -- every time we go on Halloween this has got an energy and presence about him that very much nonstop. He does I think he's obviously one of the most respected players in the league -- on the team and got a good message and people assume that they -- he's got a lot of experience and comes from the heart. Clearly."
[1:53:23]" It's."
[1:53:31]" Then develop and he went back -- learned -- His mind that early time comments that's always."
[1:53:37]" It's done -- I was brought -- excellent. Well -- try to play and approach it try to coach so. Our heart not from anything about one thing at a time they're trying to. Put two or three together I can't handle. Moment video camera but I can't I'm going to try to."
[1:54:06]" mentioned earlier. Everything around in his eyes."
[1:54:17]" And I think it. That is very important they will also I think that's where you can get consistency and entertainment. And you know -- before you try out of look until you find something that it works not saying it always trying to greater improvement it helps that -- consistency. When one player goes out another player comes in you basically can continue to function and you know also your game you know it's hard when."
[1:54:46]" You know it's hard when you don't -- kind of player planned. Well it doesn't matter what position it is an -- the offensive player the other tackle the other corner the other outside linebacker. It'd be -- at tackle he's got a totally different style of play and you're trying to play Andy Johnson. I don't want got plan a long way you know does put another way or into his skills size and this is -- what isms. I mean no two players -- I'm not and that tuba. You have one guy plays a long way to go to puts it another way it's part and no consistency within your unit one when he had a situation and Jacksonville's them. The real good job of that their record reflects it appears. Of -- consistent on their roster. The same coach now you know on the same you know it changed coordinators we've gone through that here too we've changed coordinators but I think there's still a lot of elements of their system that are. They carry over and again I think that's reflected in their record in the -- I think it has a lot to do it."
[1:55:53]" Going for us."
[1:55:58]" I'm not a lot of time he was defensive backs coach. That's part of -- that's only knew that he."
[1:56:10]" Good."
[1:56:14]" him but it depends. The united I had the last couple years that's been circumstantial there's years when I went on the quarterbacks. Often thought the ball secondary if there's there's -- it's not -- career."
[1:56:33]" is -- Pittsburgh. I don't know him. His first post any --"
[1:56:43]" Yeah definitely yeah I think you can throw we all Morton Pittsburgh game -- it -- that it but. It could -- physical differently that we do but. Don't let it there there are things that we. We can -- from him. You know they have the 43 over and under teams say they have tackle that differently 314 I -- you have to it's not anything. That you have to. Players play differently so we thought there you know look at somebody who kind of -- because it. -- filed similar to ours you know differently -- part of the play the way we've part of it doesn't. Excellent you know we. It offensively you know -- the couple times before. We split the offensive players the change quarters. They."
[1:57:43]" The that there. Thank you"
