In the meantime the web address of course as you are certainly aware web radio. Patriots dot com. Web radio all one word yet patriots dot com until he reaches here on the show hum yesterday. I tried to get some thoughts about predictions only got a couple I sense complacency. I sense that most everyone who is within earshot. Of this particular program right now of my voice right at this second. Is overwhelmingly convinced the patriots will win and we'll win going away. Pardons and -- off the lasting effects of the cold week goes you might recall. Are you really that confident patriots went. I don't know. I have to admit yesterday we had a great conversation with a big -- who covers the idea Jack -- senior editor four room Jack we're -- In big catchment told it's in no uncertain terms that he thinks this game basically boils down to one thing. I said it boiled down to two things he boiled it down even further forming in his -- look -- what he says certainly has some merit in this guy that is watched every minute everything the jaguars have done on the field this year which is why we certainly wanted to have him on the program we have -- yesterday if you missed the conversation Wheldon all the podcast. Elected to go to yesterday show and download it it was into it quite entertaining actually. Of somebody sent an email Wendell yesterday and John Hannah I -- download the podcast name help. Yeah thank you appreciate that seeing even John and it's got a -- put it. Yesterday the Miller said asked Vic about the asterisk on the website. And we did actually he actually did even at best and he brought it up. During the conversation if you don't know what I'm tired -- go to jet or dot com and you look at the power rankings. On the big catch and does he has patrons of the top acquiring but he has big fat asterisk. Next to. Kind of like what the New York would interpret what was the post the daily news did that and remembered. Com during the season because of the -- cheating thing the whole spike thank. And -- his head the asterisk on his power rankings on jaguars dot com all here okay fund whatever. And he heard yesterday we -- even have to ask the question about the Astros he said look you know as far as the -- is concerned it's all -- all cannon -- it's all a joke it's all to create Cotchery consultant create. Viewership in or list ownership and or readership to the website. Of course it is. Now you read some of this stuff on the website there and you think well maybe this guy really means that he definitely is he's got a conviction behind his words. But the 1 thing that I -- Any kind of gave us a little wink -- yesterday because simply you know he knows the audience that he speaking -- You know the audience he's going to he knows that he was he had patriots reporter and he knows that he has patriots fans listening to him yesterday. I was actually pretty and to that in I'm going to paraphrase a little when he told us yesterday the -- in the game down 21 very simple fact for you on Saturday night. Will the jaguars be able to run the ball. And control the clock -- if there on the ball to control the clock we don't on the ball they don't control the clock. That's the one and only real issue in the game because if the jaguars can run the ball and control but for the clock. By virtue of the running the ball. That'll have a chance to win why because the ball will be in Tom Brady's hands and the patriots offense less times it's that simple. Now even the patriots realize that they'll have to -- a little bit to have some success on offense. Vegetables -- defense is going to be without Mike Peterson he's already been ruled out of the game. You haven't seen that that's they'd accomplish its done -- the very latest that I have from the jags -- that is is that the Mike Peterson is going to miss his eighth consecutive game with a broken right hand tackle John Henderson safety Reggie Nelson have both missed parts of practice over the last couple of days Anderson had a hamstring injury in the first quarter Saturday that it Pittsburg Nelson introduced -- in practice last week he played against the Steelers but all he's been doing is riding a bike. So their participation to what extent we're not sure but their participation may be doubtful at this time I'm sure we'll get an update on the injury report a little bit later on. Marcus Stroud and Gerald Sensabaugh obviously already been put on injured reserve for the jaguars as well so they're thin and their thinning out. Against the patriots they were hopeful that they might -- Peterson back but he's just not not recovered from the broken right hand and with -- getting him back out there. Not going to happen so the jaguars are our -- up their banged up on defense but even sell. Is still going to take some work in the papers so if you have fewer opportunities to do it then the pressure -- on you. Primarily to score as often as you can almost every time we have the ball if you're not going to have that much. So I think the thought process here is is that in the jaguars can limit the patriots chances they have a better chance for success -- because. The patriots will have to play near perfect on offense to score. It would be against -- somewhat we can -- as -- but again -- Jackson -- credit the biggest strong on the defensive front. They can still penetrate they used to create some havoc did return to pick for a touchdown last week. So I mean they're capable but it's still don't. None of it makes it Angeles the jaguars front of all if they can't run the ball then Tom Brady is going to have more time to pick apart the Jacksonville VP it's it's that simple. Now you can throw as I mentioned yesterday you can throw into the equation. Turn overs which of the great equalizer special in the playoffs are much more magnified in a playoff situation and it is during the regular season field position is a part of that big plays obviously special teams it's all part of it. And yes anyone of those three things of one of them goes really against you or really for you it can really be a huge momentum swing. And give you some impetus give -- some momentum give your chance to carry a little ride right on into the locker room. And -- clocks for a year they can take you one in the house. But the but -- border of this is -- horrible. If they can -- again. If they run the ball patriots turned the ball over or don't score as often as maybe they should in the fewer times that they have the ball you can city. The patriots could be in some trouble. If they don't run the ball. That is Jackson -- they handle the ball. That you could see the patriots have all the top of the world lacks to execute their game plan. If the don't score on every drive no big deal combat will get a next time because their defense is shutting Jacksonville. They are going to run the ball and I told -- catchment yesterday and I've made it very clear all week long. Nobody seemed to disagree this premise. First quarter is huge in fact maybe the first key play of the game will be the -- Because both teams are going to want the football the patriots want to put their will on Jacksonville. On Saturday night they're going to want to score. Want to score quickly maybe not quite as quickly in the opening drive but they're going to want to get the job on Jacksonville they want the jaguars to play from behind because they are not as good -- team when -- come from behind. Now too bad and -- catchment from jaguars -- comes industries who well you know. David Gerrard is a pretty good here he's one of what 34 quarterbacks in the NFL that head quarterback rating of 100 or better this year. He would have been a QB rating and Peyton Manning. Think about that David or -- had a better QB rating this year than Payton by god man. About that. Because he's been incredibly accurate. He hasn't thrown into you know coverage mistakes he has shown. Some propensity to try to stretch the field -- the and I think people of dared him to do that and that they've been a little surprised that he's got you know the people that can go and get the ball. I wouldn't shock me to see him test Ellis Hobbs or even you know have the could -- go get you know on the corner against the sonics in July it's nothing would surprise me here. Because they're going to be playing with found money. And nothing to lose if they lose while we're supposed to. So Jacksonville has tremendous advantage of that concerns all the pressures on the patriots there's no doubt about that. So Jacksonville can get that ball first. And they can impose their will on the patriots and can pound away. Making its first downs and even bigger and on the field score a field goal -- opening drive maybe they don't get into the end zone but maybe they get a feel -- opening drive then you know what they've made their statement that we are going to be here -- you're going to have to take it from -- And that will give the patriots football. Now objectionable runs the ball and then for the first -- and establish -- turning it over maybe they fumble maybe throw picker team Albany you can see the game start to turn. That's great intrigued. About football and certainly playoff football. Because the play of can literally turn on the slightest mistake they can turn on a penalty. Analyst who saw on the ball in the regular season you know on the penalty that saved the patriots on fourth down. That can happen in the playoffs. So you've got to plays clean and perfectly game educated and and you hope that the mistakes that you do make -- minimized. They're not magnified that they don't come back and haunt you. I guess the thought process is is that you play the running game and -- running to two to win with the game that you -- fewer opportunities to make mistakes. You know have to worry about legal procedures generally speaking if you run -- football receivers in motion. -- have guys jump on all sides you know guys winded up in the neutral I mean all these things. To -- got a big strong province of line. Especially want to begin to team that has been somewhat at times assessment susceptible susceptible. Against the run. You can play that card. You can play that card so that's what it boils down. Practice -- Jacksonville on the run double in the keep the ball out of hand the patriots if they can't yelling at a shot doesn't mean no win it. They will and should be in the game. If the patriots defense in this is the big challenge that faces the patriots on Saturday night if the bigger Davids comes up stuff Jacksonville. They don't allow Fred Taylor they don't allow Maurice Jones drew. Any running -- percent they certainly don't allow one of those what 775 yarder what you popped a couple of years ago. You know make sure you complete the tackle right make sure the guys down on the ground -- pop back up and go like he did -- what was that 75 -- two years ago the game two years ago if they don't allow big gains you know if they allow three -- four yards at a black. And they Jackson we'll have to throw it on third down the patriots are in decent shape. If they can get Jacksonville into a third and five or six or longer. I think the patriots will definitely have the upper hand because on third and five or third and six I don't think you'll see Jacksonville on the ball. So what you want to do as you want to put the Jacksonville offense into his predictable situation Asia possibly can't. Because on third and three what are -- do. I'm 34 you got a reasonable idea of what they could do based on their yards per game yards per carry average. Third and five man your thinking there might be an opportunity to throw it they might not -- in -- What's very important first downs are very important first down -- it's been very important for the patriots you don't want to put the jags and second and short. You don't want to but the jags and even third and short. You on second and medium range 13 and long you want those kind of things. You want the offense that the Jack wars has you want it predictable. And if you can do that and you could hold them off the scoreboard. And give Brady and company enough time to be able to create a touchdown or two early. Then you're gonna control things in the -- going to play with a much higher comfort level guys will be more relaxed on the sidelines. And to be let loose in the stands you put all the pressure. On Jacksonville -- fielders make no mistake about it when the game starts the pressure is all on the home side of the field. Every stinking it up. Everybody will be uptight everybody be a little nervous she'll have the little you know -- in the bottom of your stomach because it is the playoffs it's win or go home. And as we should be -- should bring that special little sob -- Should make a little nervous. Is this is for keeps with superb everything. And Drexel right now as I mentioned earlier playing with found money. First of all that with a five seat. They beat a higher seeded team on the road last week the plane with found money they weren't really expected to win and they did. So in that regard. You would need to do something to seize control of the game as quickly as possible their four. Your best opportunity to do that is to wear flip. And the ball and it's hour period. You do that. You're right there you write what you need to be. And if you don't want to coin -- that you need to shut them down it's that simple. But at Jacksonville can do symbol that ball on the opening drive that they win the coin flip patriots going to have a handful. Patron of the -- So what do you think of those scenarios agreeing disagreeing. Normally on Thursday as we have for your predictions your game predictions like as a head off the top -- the little surprised that the complacency quite frankly patriots nation I'm battery. Surprised at the complacency everybody seemed to think it's going to be a win and a walk over. This -- the -- kids this is the NFL playoffs. Nothing comes easy. You may think it will just by virtue of sixteen and on the regular season don't you know these guys these guys down a hallway don't you know. That they've got all the pressure on their shoulders now. This is not going to be as easy as you think it will be. The playoffs never or it may -- you've had to suit up and get out on the field of choice to know that. It's not easy. So I'd like to hear what you think about the course the ball game without you agree or disagree with the the run issue. Of the jaguars as being the primary issue in this game. What's your prediction what do you think will -- give me a score step out take a chance to get off the fence. You know the old saying about sitting on the fence right not a good thing because you get hit from both sides. So tickets then get on one side of the fans make a pick and tell me why that simple. There's no right or wrong answer where it's concerned I'm -- in your opinion that's what we do this year I want to know what you're thinking I want to know. How what your feelings if you have questions about him the best I can't answer them four or will get the answer for you here that's why we're here this is what we do we talked football. You know we try to build up certainly little hype for the game absolutely why not what it's all about it's fun. It's great to do. A lot of people that you know -- longtime fans realize there are many of you were listening from outside of the New England area that it can't get your patriots fix in your local media wherever you're located in so you come here to get it. That's why we're here. But we need to hear from. Web radio acts patriots dot com that tell you reach -- on the show and -- the emails and we'll get moving along over the issues about the game. Item I think that in particular. The patriots because their ability to stop the run the Jacksonville present it certainly is is problem one. But the patriots running game while it has been a subject of conversation for us. Here on the show over the last now on sixteen weeks -- seems like something about the patriots running game comes up every week well not your happy with -- you're upset with -- I think it's progressing you think -- regressed I've been banging I'm Laurence Maroney pretty much all year long I have to admit you know late in the year he certainly seemed to do a very good job. When given the opportunity he rose to the front I still have questions about his health and her ability and with a -- he'll be that. Big back every down back. The patriots certainly were most beneficial to have when Corey Dillon didn't. Even when Antowain Smith was in his heyday of the -- between the tackles and then I'm not convinced still. That Maroney is durable enough to be able to bedecked -- guys may -- maybe he'll still be a long time patriot. My guess is that Laurence Maroney becomes a long time patriot if he gets help. If he has a one to ten of someone to share the load with Micah all I don't know Sammy Morris. Or somebody else. Well that's all I on the -- I mean he did come up when he needs and he got to give him credit. Even though we've been kind of banging against him most of the year but the patriots running game when you look at it statistically. Hasn't been that bad. I think we talked about this toward the end of the regular season maybe three or four weeks toward the end of the year with probably been about a month or so -- week. Really initially brought this up as one guessing. But the patriots averaged four point one. Yards per rush this past season. Now I don't know that sounds. Good or bad or you don't really know. What that sounds like. Above four point one yards per rush first ball. Look at the obvious if you get four point one per rush that every third carrier going to get a first down right in need ten yards to get the first. And you realize in practicality doesn't work that way but average it out. Anytime you can rush the ball three times and get a first down you are doing your job that's what you're supposed to be doing your inefficient. Running rushing office. This four point one per rush. In the 2007 with the highest average for the patriots running game in 22 seasons. Point -- years. Since 85 since the AFC championship since super Baltimore. The last time they averaged four point one per rush. Now there have been some very good individual seasons since that time. Dillon's Robert Edwards Curtis Martin. You know some very good backs. Who won for a great years the team average had not been that time. Four point one per -- is the highest since 1985. Now since that time. They've only had one other season in which there were four yards per rush. And that was three years ago. Corey had his big year the patriots averaged a -- or average yards per rush with four point 7 so they got close. -- a little over a fraction over four yards per carry. But 953 point 94 last year three point 95 2001 and two -- in two seasons three point 793 point 82. So I mean. Nothing else will come close since that point. So I think you have to give the patriots some credit here. Maybe you give most of the credit to the offensive line when you've got three pro bowlers. That'll let's settle line between course opened in Mankins -- course the all pro team. Being named yesterday if you hadn't heard I'm sure most of you have right now. If you look frequent in a field outcome certainly patriots dot com and ESPN and all the other web sites that. Gave vote. Matt light in all pro honor and gave them Mankins in the cope and second team all owners and general deserved. Mean when you protect the quarterback the way you do. And you lead the rushing game the way you have as I just mentioned statistically. Best season in 22 years in average rush by the patriots and why shouldn't most of your offensive line. Via the be considered so. Let's get the job done. That is getting the job done. The patriots three highest rushing averages since 1985 had come in the last four seasons. They had seventeen rushing touchdowns this year is Tom Brady threw fifty touchdown -- seventeen. Rushing touchdowns and that's their second highest total. In the last twenty years. I -- trailed only the twenty rushing touchdowns but had a last year. Of course the patriots scored 75 touchdowns this year. Which set the NFL record it past their old team record of 52 touchdowns. Like 23 scores -- event. 23 more touchdowns this year -- the patriots that ever scored in a previous season. The old NFL record was seventy. As we talked about several times during the year -- with a 98 vikings. 23 in fact it did the ironic thing about the touchdown record -- read this in the notes this week as a team believe -- the patriots have scored 23 or fewer touchdowns in an entire season four times in their history. Of 1990 they scored nineteen touchdowns the whole stink in here. Maybe 122 touchdowns the whole stinking year course we're talking about really lean years back there. But they scored fewer touchdowns in those years. And the patriots scored over their previous high record but it shows you the absolute explosiveness of this office. And it has been a tremendous year but -- to bring up rushing totals because the rushing game his her element taken -- And what do you agree or disagree with that fact is that the patriots rushing game is maligned a little bit. And I just wanted to make sure that we set the record strait where that's concerned and I've been right there I'm bank and on the run the running game with you. For couple of reasons but nevertheless criticizing it that it could be better. But when you throw the -- hole such accuracy such precision and was such devastating results. I can -- to -- New -- or who needs the run game and I guess that's really the point of this whole patriots offense. But the run game -- has not been as bad as the public perception might be. -- give you another thing that I think it is not is perceived as well in the public or in the public's money. Patriots -- not perceived to be an overwhelming. Defects and even though if it still fourth in the league believe in points allowed this year it's still a little behind statistically where they -- a year ago. In terms of points -- went over it's a franchise record last season. Patriots in total yards. Still allowed under 300 yards per game total offense against great super job. Very tough that is a playoff caliber Super Bowl worthy defects. If you go by previous numbers in previous -- which obtained. The patriots are are not in the class let's say. It on -- class of last year's colts beat the colts defense Wilma was terrific going into the playoffs suddenly turned in an unbelievable. Three game stretch to end -- becoming Super Bowl champs. He got to give the colts credit they came to play and even last year. When they had to NL this year they've taken a momentum from that year and statistically speaking it has been published years the colts have ever had on the fast they let the NFL scoring defense where -- the league in scoring defects talk about the -- they were Russell Baxter from ESPN. So the patriots numbers may not quite be it's close statistically is -- or even a year ago. But they're also still a little deceiving there's still plenty impressive personable. Patriots had 47 sacks this past two -- 47. Did you know that led the AFC. I'm not sure many -- you did -- that be honest with yourself now did you really know that because I wasn't aware of that until I read this week. Let's that I knew that they had you know forty plus -- right there in the -- in the top probably 34 but I wasn't sure that it was you know. On top of the AFC it's also number two overall in the NFL. And we made a big deal perhaps a couple of weeks ago the effect that the giants were number one in the NFL as they have 53 sacks during here but -- mention the fact that the patriots were second. Behind the giants with 47 sex. At a Dallas and Seattle and San Diego vaunted San Diego there pressured the patriots have more sex related. The 47 sacks the highest total for the patriots in 21 years. Dating back to 48 sacks recorded by the 1986 team in fact their previous highest sack total this decade. Was achieved by the 2004 Super -- team when they had 45 sex. So again just reference point for reference points perception. Perception is everything as we -- in this business and I think the perception has been in accurate. This patriots team overall. What's of the hot it's like the whole you know we bang them against Jeremy Greene it's available on the show. Would bet against him and mentioned it to the Russell back security's been such because he unease in dot com is. -- his selection they made a few weeks ago in sticking by this week of Jacksonville winning the game on Saturday that's on everybody's entitled to their opinion right. A -- For a guy who worked for scouts think right he's like they're they're pro director here. And regardless you know probably looks as many different game films and and -- watches as much football as this guy does not -- pedigree being Dennis green's son -- he's missing. These things that I'm bringing to you right now. He says the patriots sixteen and no record wasn't all that impressive what was not impressive about it. Fact that they be what six -- the playoff teams along the way. Or you know the fact that they led the AFC with -- the fact that they outscored the previous director regular 23 the fact that the average rush for team with the highest in 22 seasons come up. -- the navy here. I don't -- Jeremy green is completely falls completely wrong and all his rocker for think in the Jack we're going to win he is obviously banking on the fact that the jaguars will be able to run the football. They're not going to -- the football but they're not going to be debated but don't football dug into. Although -- what you think this is Mormon. On how about this for switcheroo. No doubt. To try to stop the run. Jack who comes out wings it. But that that we. Would that work for him but kept the patriots off guard a little bit so that's what as the intrigue of the game morals in them mean that's that's what. You know we all have to and that's -- the got to play the game we don't really know what's going to happen we can surmise we can take guesses. You know it's always great to kind of add to the mix here and see how the intrigue takes you know. Pictures through the day but. You know don't be surprised to -- we'll take a couple of shots over the top. Symbol because pitch it is to him. Catch somebody by surprise catch them off guard -- something a little bit different. Gary we talked me I'm sorry. Yeah judgment nights shall we do that now. Okay so let's talk about his patriots offense start of the patriots running game in particular was that about how the patriots are looking at attacking this very Jacksonville before. Provided of course they have the ball enough -- Actively -- of promise anyway earlier today patriots offensive coordinator Josh mcdaniels meeting with. Members of the patriots media. It's today. -- didn't. It."
[34:09]" It you know I'd always said that that opportunity presented itself that that make you know they all the information at hand and try to make the best isn't for me personally and professionally in my family keeping them person or you know. In my mind relative to can move on at any point in my career and and that's grateful for the opportunity that those teams gave me but at this time the best thing for me to be here and focus my preparation. -- my my efforts on the preparation for the plan from here. And that's really simple as that that's all went into it and I'm going to be afternoon with couldn't here. It could you know and I think bill that at -- this week it could nurture and help you. Every experience has could have a positive could have been negative to it and I am you know again I'm not really. Worried or concerned about what that that experience may or may not have afforded me. Going forward and and in my career and and you know when I cried and if that ever comes up again. And and that time is right for me to do that then. You know we'll cross that bridge when it comes to have but I -- you know I'm not really worried about whether -- here help me are what I could gain from matter what I didn't gain prominence is really focused right now -- the playoffs. You're ready to be -- head coach I've said this before you know that's for -- Jews you know it's that time ever comes up and and that's ever present and against me. And and I feel like it's right opportunity for me to try to attempt to do that then we'll do it but you know again -- that it has said in the statement grateful for the opportunity presented me but at this time I'm going to be a patriot and looking forward to."
[36:01]" and I -- very -- question present them during the summer usually around unbelievable place. We're talking about quarterbacks it's going to be possible. Quarterback Sunday in the numbers as -- as just in general -- and use that as possible from quarterback -- it's. He's had a -- anybody can look at numbers."
[36:21]" It it's hard to say you know what what another quarterbacks going to do and another season I know he's had a special season relative to. The way he performed in the way he's played. And you know to project whether he would have done that -- somebody else for that matter would have done and I don't know. But there's a lot of records and a lot of numbers that people I know put out there and say boy I don't know if there's ever. Going to be another guy gets close to it but somebody you know I don't Peyton threw 49 and and Tommy just so happen to throw fifty you know and and I'm sure somebody else -- come along and and and approach that number again and you know and and give that a run and what happens I think if you plan a good team. And you you know you have a good season and you prepare hard and work hard and yet. You know you have good people around -- on a good in like at a good organization of the good -- and you have an opportunity to do things like that and and Tommy had a great year there's no question about it."
[37:26]" I would replay again and we night before and it's very thing that player he's a veteran guy who. You can tell he watches a lot of film and understands what teams are trying to do against them as very smart player Reggie Nelson. Is an exceptional athlete covers a lot of ground is made a lot of big plays form this year you can't be lazy around either one of them you know you can't take your eyes problem or you can't throw the ball and not know where they are because they'll make plays on it. And they'll have the ball on the other way they're big play defense and those two are big part of the reason why. Because a you know they're they're aggressive in the run they'll get down there and -- kitchen and make plays in the running game what they also take away planning in the passing game in the deep part of the field. And in like that if you're not careful with them. And Elena with the football I think that that something that you're going to have to get a going to have to keep in mind on every play you know the entire four quarters with those two."
[38:21]" Thinking that a few months would you have been surprised at all by what Randy Moss been able to accomplish better."
[38:28]" You know won't -- from from the from the time we got Randy you know he he showed how hardy was -- to work and and he's been a great leader and a great teammate and again a great guy for a coach and you know I'd win when you have ability like Korean has inning tied and in -- how hard he works to try to go ahead and be the best player he can be. And really help our team in any way shape or form he -- hourly -- the numbers are that big of a thing for him I think he wants the win and I think it's that shows every day when we come into work. And to look at his skill level and say that I'd be surprised at what he's done with how hard he works I don't. I wouldn't say that I think he and he's capable of big things and he's obviously shown that this year and and you know what the way he works the way he approaches the game it it doesn't surprise me. What's -- constantly nonviolent. We did a lot of things during the bye week and didn't really try to. Actually hit a lot of air at most area of our offense we try to work on and tried to take a look at the last half of the season and anything that we could do better or things that we might want to go ahead and -- going into the playoffs you know -- have an opportunity that when you have a bye week and we kind of took the approach that we did. You know we have about a week in the middle season really focused on ourselves and you know cover a lot of ground -- and then in the red own goal line third down against blitz pick up and running game. And and try to hit as much of it as we possibly could we had two good days last week and hopefully that would halt -- they're -- important to laugh. Yeah."
[40:16]" Yeah say that there -- nichols' team with Terry cousins coming in they've shown some dime you know not not a whole lot of it but I would say this not a lot of teams have really put that four wide or anything like that out there against them and though it's just so happens that they've been in the lot more nickel than anything else though I know they got a good secondary those other players stark and Glenn and those they have all played and and we seen them and we watched them play and do good things though. It wouldn't surprise me to see him put the dime in the game but us you know if it just was nickel than that probably. You know what they've what they've played the most of them what they feel most comfortable and and that's what we would anticipate -- put out there against us when we're in any kind of three receiver group --"
[41:05]" What does it help you in an office coordinator have got to know -- line. Hi it's --"
[41:13]" Yeah it's been. That's been a big help I think you know -- it is a great job is as an exceptional job -- that group of guys and I know he doesn't treat you know the starters -- differently than he does the guys that are getting great play -- one of those happening go down and we've been fortunate that we've had some guys go in there and play well and stand up to that challenge and I think that's that's definitely a big. A big plus when you can have guys that been like that because and you don't have to change as much to what you want to do you know as if if you if you felt differently about that group though you know to be able to say we have depth there and put those guys in there and you know and and let him play and not have to change -- or -- just too much what we're doing I think that's the biggest advantage against us. And ex -- comes back that -- and he does a great job coaching group."
[42:01]" I was always the biggest challenges without offensive line amazing designs and Jackson as a line."
[42:09]" they're really physical they're aggressive I know they'd be you know a they create a lot of issues with just a four man rush because they they never ever stop common you know is a great team as far as. As hot line and he plays is what we kind of column. You know where you may have them blocked initially. But you have to block come until the place completed or else they're going to get the quarterback or they're going to get in the backfield and create a problem and -- running game so. I think finishing plays overall -- didn't on your time and early but then again continuing until the whistle blows I think that's a big thing for them that's where they create a lot of their negative plays and it's probably the biggest. You know challenge that we're going to face up front is not only being physical match in their aggressiveness but also finished in every play like they --"
[42:56]" I the moment when okay --"
[43:06]" You know -- that the spread offense in college is. Things could be different. So would it different because the quarterback is such a running threat in college you know not an expert in the spread out spread offense and -- arts college football and their but I know when you it. He a lot of quarterbacks that are mobile and able to run and they use that guy as the primary runner on times. -- to me is it an advantage and -- you put another guy down there in the box you'll always have enough to block whomever they have down there close that line of scrimmage which. When your hand the ball to the back a lot of times you don't have the same numbers advantage because the quarterback not a blocker but a lot of times and college football they use that running back or that halfback -- back there. As an act as the next blocker to handle that -- who's coming down in the box -- the quarterbacks the runner and there's really no guy for him. Except the guys stand back there in the middle field and you know back obviously is not going to make the tackle -- line of scrimmage and we're -- I don't know I don't know if there's really -- you know it like it is a different. Type of game there and as far as the players is that what you're asking about the players are in there and yeah a bit -- I don't think there's much of we don't end up in. You know a lot of similarities between college bread and and type of office is Eugenia fell because of the lack of runner. You know at that position -- I was I was -- the quarterback position."
[44:42]" Oh yeah and plus -- here you're very down. Do you think it anyways and by going to interviewing. He was a bad example. After you."
[44:57]" I'm really wasn't concerned with I mean I mean I'd obviously want to view what's great impact for this football team at this point in time but. -- the overall decision is -- you know the best thing for me via patriot and you. Continue in my role here and do what I've been on and prepare hard for the playoffs and worry about that stuff at a later time and if it comes back up again. Of them."
[45:29]" It's really that info I love my job here right now. I learned a tremendous -- John Carroll arming the people that that -- worked with and -- coach -- a great job -- run that program there. And I know that they've they've had -- successful people comment to the National Football League artists you know coaches are concerned and obviously Don Shula is. Is the most noted of those guys but there's a lot of people in the league that have kind of background from there and they kind of keeping close contact with one another I know I know most of the guys that are still in the league -- Greg Romans money guys that are in the league. That -- good job Francisco little fraternity and we take a lot of pride in coming from a smaller school and being able to come into something like the National Football League in and and try to make. A success story out of our -- and then in hindsight you know hopefully keep John Carroll. You know in the lightly with a little click we have so it's kind of fun but you know -- a lot to it great education there. And you know a springboard you into whatever. We're going to go into -- choose in this -- to -- I did not I've met him go before I didn't meet us out."
[46:51]" thank you. I -- that they're from and Josh mcdaniels patrons -- ordinary they use. He's very honest very forthcoming season he's obviously very smart young man he has learned his lessons well maybe the smartest move that he is made in in this is just my opinion here but the smartest move he's but it is to know that they I'm still young I've still got a lot I can learn. And it's really not for me to say if I'm ready. To go to the and -- a head coach. That's for somebody else -- right now he knows that there is much more that he can still accomplish and who wouldn't want to still be sort of what's oh look forward to it and I mean. This he he's you know he has to now that if he's a part of engineering. The office. On what could end up becoming the greatest team of all time in NFL history don't you think he knows he'll be able -- tickets and enough. I mean WW beating down his door he'll have to get himself an agent he'll have to fend off the offers. I mean because you know everybody wants to slice of immortality everybody wants a piece of of the patriots way. That's what's happened we're Charlie Weis and Romeo Cornell on and even some of the of the players that have come and gone over the last few years here. He'll have his chance. And I think we're lucky to have him for the time that we have been here it's obvious that he's he's got a great understanding of the game he's got a very good mind he's imaginative. Offense he sounded you know there's not a whole lot of risk involved although and we -- season and about some of those double and triple coverage throats if but he did have Randy Moss out there this year. You know so I mean he's he sounds a heck of a lot older and a heck of a lot wiser and maybe. The word your looking for is mature maybe he's just. I had a couple of more mature than 31 years of age might indicate. That's pretty young -- me and maybe even you but he's a wise 31 and he's learned his lessons well. And the best lesson that he's learned is that he realizes he still has. Lessons to learn. Says something about right parents will date would take all the good stuff as we can get it -- you know that I had checked up on what we're listening to what Josh is news conference from early today at Gillette checked up on the latest weather forecast for -- Saturday night. Random -- Funny how the exact brought down the hourly details are not available right now maybe it's because they've overload the system everybody wants to know but the highly anticipated high temperatures Saturday afternoon at Foxboro. Is 45 degrees that's what they're anticipating a round kickoff. About kickoff it should be upper thirties. 38 to forty somewhere in that vicinity that's what they're looking at there is 810% chance of some precipitation. Don't of the mean drainers leader drizzle whatever but there's a 10% that kept a 10% chance of precipitation. In the forecast for Saturday night. And game time temperature somewhere in the upper thirties to forty. That's what we're looking four Saturday night the wind it below ten miles Brower. Out of the west largely maybe the northwest shifting to the northwest but still under ten miles per hour. So very little wind at all if any. And to me that's you know that the rain in the wind -- could combine to you know help. Jacksonville caused even more on Saturday night and I just don't you know it doesn't look like the weather will cooperate released -- so this should be. What we would think to be considered optimum operating conditions for a precision office like the patriots. No doubt about it. But it is bringing that little bit of an update. And that little bit of news was -- first time out we got a lot still look at the world to work here often in the patriots play book fourth Thursday some locker room interviews build coaching juniors say how much more coming -- and listen. [55:17]" Welcome everybody inside thicker playbook yet again it's our number two of our Thursday program here on patriots. Dot com radio I'm John -- and yup we're still count down. To kick off between the patriots in the Jacksonville Jaguars come Saturday night 8 o'clock eastern time at Gillette stadium in Foxboro. And they did hear from you web radio at patriots dot com. I do have a couple of -- we'll get to hear it a couple of moments Mike. -- from Boston Herald and -- ninety ESP NN Boston is one Jonas. Forbid in this hour as well get some of his thoughts which he'll have his patriots Friday programming for you here. At about the same time tomorrow. On patriots dot com and patriots football network of course. Then of course double kick this thing off on Saturday -- there will be time for talk it'll be all we do on the field right. So -- coming up in this hour oh also willow will hear from patriots head coach Bill Belichick with a program is completed today one. Let's get a couple of emails in here that it just trickled into the inbox as it now stands qualities may be from earlier so I apologize if they repeats but this one at a couple of look pretty good years or -- and get it out here -- recover from age so. -- actually in Merrimack New Hampshire. Who says how much -- an impact do you think the return of Harrison will make he's been out for quite awhile but as you like moss and they can just basically pick up where he left off about Marvin Harrison. While the Indianapolis Colts here. Tom while I think any time you bring back an all pro caliber. Certainly in all in all pro caliber receivers Marvin Harrison is on they're not going to put him back on the field unless he's capable of competing at that level. I mean I don't tell that they bring -- openers back he's only 506070% of his total ability he's been out for number of weeks now so my guess is is that he's probably been it is 607080% level. And so he's probably as close to 100% now is he may ever get this year -- just hanging it up for the rest of the season. So in that regard my guess is he'll make pretty good impact he has -- and the targets. Ideas of another good target doesn't -- three I think I think he can make a very good impact that is you like -- thoughts. I don't know I know I don't think so. Well what he has quite the same physical attributes is Randy Moss but you know in that league and we just basically pick up -- left off in that regard. -- by that to an extent. -- is how much of an average do you think the absence of free to make the colts defense seemed that the greatness of their defense was dependent on being able to get the quarterback with a four man rush. And I don't think that you put as much pressure Brady without bringing -- clear legal but I had this week I would I would actually agree with that assessment -- being put quite as much pressure on rating without -- they did have -- in the game of the season. And that's where he got hurt so certainly going to help the does not believe -- than incapable because of -- mentioned the colts you know we're not the leading scoring defense in the league and limit the patriots in the regular season and they are now. So somewhere so much public improvement Bob Sanders is named you know NFL defensive player of the year. It's good team good team in the threes is do you think the Bill Belichick as soon concede the run to Indian play a lot of nickel and dime bag is located at first it. I think may be that someone hears a little complacent yeah I think -- Merrimack is already looking forward. It may well happen you know and -- entertain your questions overall what can we really hold the Indy talk. Till next week is that possible coming -- we you know let's let's play the respect that you want. Anyone Jacksonville to give you -- paid them the same respect in return. And I don't mind it wanted to these little things but you know. Let's let's in the game plan for Indianapolis now that's not what we're into right now still got a game against Jacksonville that we have to play on Saturday but. It will definitely entertainment question next week if you want to bring him back right. Chris in Raleigh north Carolina's is what do you guys think -- Vrabel over his career. It around much attention but remember before he went inside he was all over the field a few years ago now he's back outside he stepped back up again I put him in the league class -- to have his Jersey but I was curious because volume over the years. I'm it's good question. You know. Vrabel was I think if you -- dose of about his career at all it was pretty much an afterthought he eat when he was Pittsburgh was a guy that he it was sort of between here. And yet you know he was thought it was maybe an outside rush guy was -- You know defensive end type players when he was at Ohio State undersized linemen the brick Payton -- convert -- guys like you know McGinest and Bruschi and and so I think they because of the success they have players like that that's what they like Vrabel went -- got him. It's all the same thing and he was playing behind some pretty good linebackers in Pittsburgh there just wasn't an opportunity I -- do you take out of -- Vrabel and who do you take element team. You know when he suggested come from Ohio State the answers -- nobody. So in that regard I mean you can understand why he might have been caught in the numbers game there. Are they did play him some inside and I think it's benefited his career that it's not only a made him a better outside player now but he's he's learned. Every facet of what it takes to realize -- especially this particular system and you know as well as is anyone probably -- That's some in the -- command of all the players they want you to learn multiple positions. But I want to be able to use interchangeable parts -- one to help with depth. And of -- to -- and number two because they want you to know what's going -- they want you to be thinking football player. They want you know what's happening and other facets of the field. They want you understand what responsibility you might and I have depending upon where you are on the field. Because they feel like give you understand it all with a bit concept of everything then you're going to have more of an opportunity to perform and perform well. What they've always looked at it and I think Mike Vrabel has slowly developed on into an outstanding obviously pro bowl caliber football player. Gary from Syracuse says first off. Patriots 31 jags ten. Second if the pats went out who do you think will retire in other any free agent draft picks that you like replace them. Who you know what that's actually W wouldn't right here that's the first question that I had like that this year. Early thought I might hear this question before it all BR seven get -- tremendous amount of thought I think Troy brown would be the obvious one. I'm trying to think. Run up -- ahead of the might be somebody else that steps aside I don't guess it would really shock me. In juniors Saito retired although he seems to have plenty of gas left in the tank but I think this is what he stuck around age 38 for a chance to win. And if he does finally get that winning get that ring probably even be surprised if he stepped up to. But that was the two most likely others that could. Bruschi could mean you know overcome in the stroke and spending more time with family in such a mean that could happen. I suppose Rodney Harrison cool wood because the injuries all the other stuff that he's gone through on the -- total of the body rest -- home. -- who else to fifth while you know yards of total football I'm not so sure -- bite us. So sure about this. I think those would be -- you know the most likely ones free agency draft picks that you like replace him no not off hand. -- still a couple of linebackers that -- out there available via free agency that you know the pictures of shall take a look at -- I'm sure the have the way. Their value against what they might be able to get in the draft and -- swing in. That there is going to be an almost immediate need to get younger. Defensively especially -- backing -- I'd be little surprised the -- made a free agent move in that in that regard I'd just a little surprised but totally a little. As I really think they want to make make certain that they've got some room to grow with some money in the line backing courts and that can work to weigh in and learn from the veterans that you do choose to stick around. -- aerials says did you guys notice that the Steelers on third and six at the end of the jags game would just under three minutes left right and the ball. The quarterback like big -- you thought they were -- trying to throw for the first down in the same situation don't you think bill would of what Tom Brady throw the first down. I told he's no Tom but he is the Steelers star. Yes I was surprised at that third and six run as well I totally was an -- the -- their act together here is that Mike Tomlin you know will surprise. They don't expect the run its third sixth and obvious passing down so we'll surprise and that's the only thing I guess what else with a could have been thinking. -- that surprised me absolutely agreement here okay let's go to the next one here this one comes doesn't say -- send me your name people come on all of -- we go thank you gotta read says Michael from Birmingham. Birmingham al at first I mean -- thank you Michael are you get a good job -- Says I have a few observations and I want your opinions will get into my thoughts about you know you guys in future emails set. It but I think Maroney is a study will be a 1500 yard back next year guaranteed. What has he done I would ask you Michael won his he'd done to this point tend to make you think that. -- over seven honored last year as a rookie. In a little over 800 yards this year as a sophomore. Do you think he's going to be able -- double what he did this year. Or combine our -- next year do what he's done combined the last two years. While don't see it especially the patriots. Receive any kind of consistency in bringing back some of the receivers from this year or read into that we said Randy martz. -- took don't want beat pass first offense if we have moss and Welker to throw to -- come out. Anyways is I think Belichick mcdaniels to go to the conclusion that they need to run the ball more Maroney get the ball to audit it -- about times a game next season. But he -- Belichick will use the franchise tag on this time. I think it will be Samuel once again what do you guys think now. Now I believe he's already hit the incentives in his contract where they can't use the -- this franchise tag on him yet that was part of his agreement to get him into camp this year I'm not mistaken. Says the pats lead the league in time of possession next season that will in turn keep an aging deep and strong. Give your thoughts great show was in every day okay when Michael thank you for participating so -- it's appreciated and you know it if -- your thoughts are all good -- ever isn't their own observations. I just think that in this point in time I don't know over the past Italy believe -- position they they they did have a high number this year. Because they use to control opened with a passion yet. Not necessarily running. Arm they may have an aging defense they may have a need to keep an aging -- and strong for next year. But I honestly I don't think -- Beijing even stronger next year by eighty running the trouble. I think in the Canadian -- and stronger next year by infusing some youth. I think it into it and I do really believe that they're going to look beef fans and particularly linebacker. You know within the first couple rounds of the draft expect just that they -- You know as much we love to see them take you know a big name of that seven pick again even even of the number seven slot. You know in the draft and don't be shocked of the tray down because they're going to look at value and they don't have value for what they needed. Based on their needs after they evaluate after the season over which they will be doing. And they're going to trade down in the go for multiple picks the traded away to multiple picks next year they've made history of doing. So home all depends on what they think is the value overall."

Integral part -- that the -- Don't let quality that regard is good about that jaguars are good it's a lot to me Jack ordered it about the pitcher. I always expect job of the -- going to play -- That erupted in Russian ready to roll out -- once again about part of the sort. They know if they let political ballgame. The -- what can win and they went away because that put up across the board."
[1:14:54]" And I think it's fair I think it's fair and I understand that simply based on track record already this point time let me ask you this I made the statement yesterday's program. That I really thought that. The key time in this game may be in the first quarter you could even go to the coin flip because both teams desperately want to set pace they want to sit tempo they want to get ahead. The Jacksonville Jaguars they want to start grinding up the clock patriots want to jump on him from the start to make them quite from behind would you agree or disagree with the first quarter being very important here."
[1:15:23]" Although I agree talking about -- about the steroid I have to the number one keep it Internet -- about it state board may take that start. And you know you got that -- other than that but I I think the truth behind that is. That -- that you are saying you know all you know get the jags can be balanced right if they can run to let up the past. Then they got shot remote part of the patriots they duel because that's -- front but the back great Boca -- though and they've. In the past you know what got through threats. Look at exorbitant -- disliked everybody else. -- they do get that the jaguars to get by multiple scores early John Q epic come out of their running game. Obviously I think that -- you know that the that -- the -- newspaper article article got a shot a lot of project and they balanced. If he's caught from I think it a different story I think it would have been a different story for really that would have been a different story forward all the key in the game. Is that I think the open record may typically after recorder or get them out -- it'll debacle probably throw out were trailing in Baltimore late results. What gave both quarterback -- shots. Because they had running game and I and days you -- fat -- the play it straight up. But it I ordered out early edited or -- throwing forty times a game that I would attribute everybody around -- Could very easily be able."
[1:16:50]" Sure on -- information ideas -- Boston -- here with us and said patriots -- the -- Temple this game is certainly while it is important I wonder also if you kind of look at look at the individual matchups here. That the the patriots defensively trying to play against the Jacksonville offense in addition to the run. What you be at all surprised because so much of the emphasis in on what projects and run the ball excellent ball. Would you be at all surprised to see Jacksonville because -- has been very -- four quarterbacks and in the NFL this year with a one under our ratings are higher. Would you be at all surprised to see them open a wing it."
[1:17:28]" All I'd be on a lot out of it to you all that so -- I would be surprised because that by Jack Jack Del Rio promote Jack Del Rio WWW while I don't go to. Game plan week to week sort of guys it's what -- what they aren't very thought of making beat what they do well so. Don't go get his. Mark operandi but I would coach of the jaguars. -- that's what I do you know okay Eric the pilot -- quarterback Alka it would it would Iraq. Receiver that they can that they occur all the all the secondary you -- thought it satellite control military but he out there. And I would just trying to make -- popped up like guys and I put tech out of I'd I'd talk all I would -- I don't know why. I took a look at it I am what they pay to that like you like spread it out. And I I've put pressure that pat speak as a try to put pressure on that -- took offense to be part for import -- possession."
[1:18:28]" What do I mentioned earlier about the pressure in this game and obviously at the start of the game because the holes sixteen an opening it's gotta be in the patriots sideline and then the patriots can't get off to a bad start. And at the you can see that pressure go from one side of the field to the other. That being said the guys all season. Seemed to have given the indication that in don't know there's no pressure we go week to week we do a good job of deflecting whatever that might be. Do you buy that or do you think there is a lot of pressure on this team this --"
[1:18:54]" That's another I kept poking poking a pokey with this week without a doubt that that'd. What do you don't mean Saturday night they also say thank you start over the policy and don't know etcetera but. John I think we all agree that being effective on the regular season makes a playoff loss. Even more devastating because you're you're knocking on the door of history and pressure it's gotta be -- to make that walked. So much worse about -- I think in terms of -- we're going to lose -- kind of feel like to lose I don't know go to bed thinking that. I thought -- not part of the equation somewhere got to be lot of pressure."
[1:19:33]" You know. I have to think the these guys probably hander pressures but as well as anybody I mean look at the all drives the bid to win games and look at how they come back from the public to game that the probably should've lost during this regular season so did -- handle it well -- heavily that they will continue to handle it."
[1:19:49]" into -- you if any came equipped to handle that pressure it's a pitcher. Just thought now it's not there."
[1:19:57]" That's right I think that's a good point. If they can handle again that you give them all the credit the world that they can't well frankly they're human you know it."
[1:20:05]" We want it we will we will get pissed off at the local bike you know ultimately -- that."
[1:20:12]" Yeah well it's absurd totally absurd. But it's true that's who we aren't at all we you know we deal in the circus of a strategy. Every season in the NFL specially running and knowing with Mike thanks for a little time the second and I know you're busy appreciated what you're on the stadium on Saturday."
[1:20:31]" he got a thanks but I got to him I felt her again 890 ESPN. And the Boston Herald that that the port report card that is the patriots are -- the court games. And -- obviously does his patriots Friday programming right here on patriots dot com radio for you and will have a point tomorrow about the same time. Let's give -- some emails because some you've been very good to send your aunts and after right castigated you are not doing that. Yes so thank you Christian who with Beckett Indian Vermont says figure that will be a few butterflies. But I also expect this team to be fired up. After all -- is the -- not sixty you know. To me that was just the appetizer before the dinner. There -- some hungry players on this team moss -- Welker they all want the ring and know the regular season means nothing now it's never easy. Playoff or not -- the NFL opener. Eddie that's good email. Good email you hit the nail on the head. There are just enough hungry players on the Tuesday the guys that came -- that we -- for one reason. Because they know they would have been their estimation their best chance. To be champion. That's why. -- moss came here and took less money. That's why Junior Seau stuck around an extra year after breaking his arm a year ago when he came last year. Because they want the rain they want to chance to win it. -- regular season doesn't mean to you have just enough over hunger out on the field from some very key players. To make sure that there is no complacency going off to good mix. To good mix I think you'll continue to see that -- that you continue to see the patriots operate this foreman -- why wouldn't you. -- work so far isn't it. All right Scott Washington DC. Recruiting mail -- says John for some reason this game is the jaguars feels to me to be a bit like the last game against the jets without the weather. All season. Thinking was we paying sixty on the jets in our second meeting but in the week leading up for the game he became increasingly clear that it would be more evenly matched. Again that may have had something to do or had a lot to do with the weather in the game but this matchup has a similar feel to it somehow. We beat the jets twenty to ten and I could see something similar in this game. I think the jags may be able to move the ball a lot between the twenties but they'll have trouble in the red zone has got such a good point. Because late in the year the patriots were very good defensively in the red zone that you realize that."
[1:23:10]" May have vent a little bit between the twenties but in the -- only improved dramatically over the last month to six weeks of the season. Scott says on the events I think the jaguars will be careful about blitzing Brady instead we'll focus on trying to limit the big play. You know about that. This may be a relatively boring game not because we blow them out but because both teams all the back and forth and a bit of a grind it out it -- bowl teams haven't long. Time consuming drives that keeps them you know the score and he says I predict a 2413 win for the patriots along with a win. I don't care how we do. Scott good well thought out thank you for your thoughts that's actually believe it or not that's right about what I'm thinking. Let's write about what I'm I'm also thinking about 2413 about a big patriots have a shot to score a little more but it really depends on how long the jaguars can hold on the football and be effective with -- running game."
[1:24:08]" I'm still think you may be little more round 2717 but -- thirteen not for off not far off at all. Okay let's go next."
[1:24:19]" This one comes from. Although -- okay -- one from David and it's and then again I knew -- John from New Hampshire. John aside from New England media members have you noticed that every article on ESP in fox sports as I'd seder has beat the jaguars to win. The patriots are ready for the Taylor Jones drew a knockout punch for new England and not to the rest patriot nation wouldn't forget what we did this year. I feel that the patriots are well aware of what they're up against and are preparing sport and are prepared for it. This is not a team that's out there convinced of their superiority and -- going to blindly stroll through the playoffs. Going to work their asses off in god willing to go on to win and win they did I'd love to see the -- quality sports writers admit that they were wrong. But then again I'd have a better chance of seen Britney Spears pain in his role model the disease -- voters about the role. No doubt we are going to good point good point what you John. -- I've seen a little that -- there's no disrespect per say but I think you know here's the thing John. And by the way he predicts patriots 34 jaguars seventy. Good scorcher thank you. Honestly I think it really all about being a contrarian because you know it seemed like you know everybody's -- the -- bandwagon everybody's head up and basically at the top of their quote unquote power rankings or whatever that's worth. And sold deal with that you stand out crowd and you know that you get people to read you in the way that you get people interested in you is to be the contreras and how do you -- the contrary in the offense. You do it because of the dice. Like double Jeremy green thing funniest and a common some of the other writers as you mention fox -- side they're all there to pick them pay if advocate against the patriots because they just want to be different. You don't want you not going to really remembered that they picked against the patriots."
[1:26:09]" He really into that remembering I mean. Six weeks from now you've got to remember that you know -- and and -- banking on the fact that you're not going to remember -- and you don't read those guys they're quorum court expertise anyway do you. You read them for their opinions. Q -- here would you be expertise plus -- that's what we'd like to thank. But I'm capable and those guys really get out and seek some of them. Some of them travel you know -- it on the Tom Curran. Obviously written for a couple papers and when was completed numbered years now writes for NBC sports dot com we've had him on this program for the past. The public -- games of weeks he's seen teams like. Into the you know -- he goes -- watch the patriots every week. We CT. Some of these guys who you know write some of these publications frankly I don't think they get out the seat football every week now they -- watch football on television. Maybe they do their diligence and maybe they want three or four different games throughout the course of -- weekend that's possible certainly they're probably all watch ESP another wrap option notes. In the -- some of the highlights I hope they do. What I said watch -- team plane I'm talking also. You know going to practice and talkative players and was and it coaches in and be around and covered and it's just it's it's impossible. For you to do that. With more than maybe a couple of teams it's impossible. As a guy like John Clayton and he is on the -- the professor there in John's won the most respected football guys that I know. He respected by players and in in in certainly promote around the league because -- because he goes out and cobbers these guys. He goes and sees teams play and practice and he's on the fall Chris Morton's and -- in the same way and I'm picketing is pianist because I know these guys. I'm sure the other guys at fox that do that as well. And I'm sure there may be a guy to a -- who do that as well."
[1:28:08]" But without naming names and accusing here I'm sure that there are some writers who are. Doing it again to be contrary ins and to get the opinions out there and to me you read what they're writing -- because they get under your skin. Gary in Amherst mass says pats win 2870. Jack to have some success running keep the ball away from the office for the jacket to beat up on -- to hold back the pats when they have the ball. Even if they are successful in the run game Jack won't be able to keep up with the pats just takes too long particular scoring drive on the ground against the patriots. Only takes four possessions to get to 28. And I don't think the -- will be able to match patent office is just too explosive for the here that's pretty sound reasoning be quite honest -- good job audio. Has 2870 that's pretty close what I said it's at 27 in two that's a that's a good the inning good sound reasoning -- it. Only take four shots to get to 28 in a lot of power many have -- the course of the game he then what do regular specially if you try to win the ball field. You -- sometimes just takes too much time when you run the football primarily. Good sound reasoning there."
[1:29:23]" All right next email -- to be in box comes from Jack. Who says looks like everyone just assumes that the jags are stronger team and will well if you live outside of Boston anyway -- John who would you match up you know they're going to throw it hops because he has been beatable what would you do to adjust he's as I'd like to see Rodney back they're stalking Taylor I'd like to see James Sanders have a monster game keep Jones drew -- I think the old man like Bruschi and Salem rebels show their true colors and get to the quarterback let's say this the first -- read the rest your emails. Well yeah I think you know the fact the Providence journal actually had a nice story be that approach -- dot com you'll see what -- with Robert Lee was the reporter that wrote the story on the very thing about Ellis Hobbs being somewhat beatable. Law at one of the corners. And that Ellis in the patriots believe that the numbers are somewhat -- suggested symbol because. Or at least that the impression is is that -- did not have a very good season. And yet if you look at the numbers from the team perspective they feel like he's more than held his. He is fair shares of this team for throwing away from Samuel so he's actually getting more opportunities to defend."
[1:30:41]" I believe the number was in the story if I'm not mistaken but -- was there were 44 defensive backs. In the NFL who gave up more for touchdowns. Then Ellis Hobbs did that that was the number but I saw the sort tell you that. You know he really hasn't been beaten at least the impression is leaving it. But he hasn't been beaten as badly as people think he might have been although. Hey there's no doubt as -- just told us there's no doubt that if -- the jaguars measured -- but he Indianapolis Samuel. You know he playing with fire scarecrow on -- and I would say that yeah I you know I'd say that. If you know hole if you know what to pass and then you double to going to get -- nickel package in -- I'd give him different looks. I'd throw you know linebacker certainly back in the coverage I'd certainly take a shot that you know home. Different defensive fronts. I mean but you know you the first of course you have to be aware that Jack was going to try to smash you with a football. She really can't afford to be two very able defensively is he caught one of those odd defensive fronts and they're going to come with a straight power up the middle. You may not touch Jones drew you don't touch him some tackles assist. Let's see here alone in Logan Mankins and Matt light need to be the monsters that they can be -- unleashed the liquid pieces. Project thank you for the email you from come from Stan. Stance is frankly I don't see where analysts are saying the jags have what it takes to make a game it's true. They can't run the ball and likely will be able to gain yards on the ground. Keeping Brady off the field may seem like good plan but if that is yet than they are missing some key pieces to the apostle. If those long drawn out drive do not -- in six every time. And that is going to service as a self destruct mechanism objects. I don't care how long -- drive is you can still only get a maximum seven points out of the drive and yet you're breaking ball. Pats have far away the best -- percentage and drives of eighty yards."
[1:32:42]" More they can and will score on. They can't score quickly or with long drives without their two big guys that brought out of a plan to stop our office. Object or the -- which week. Spoke about some of their misses -- earlier in the program today since they were killed last week when they were blitzed and without those big guys ready will likely have all -- to throw. Our deepest needs to -- our -- needs to do was come -- with a few key stops or just limit them to field goals. So long drink or so long -- driver five but they don't end in six and they can't stumble that's in the game basically over. They stand you know good reasoning. Good reasoning com. -- well emails with this this comes from a Dave. Which is thank John what you do my daughter went on her make which should just before she -- the great organization. Dave I'm very very well I'm thank you for the kind note I'm very sorry for loss. I feel very strongly want to get off Clement and you're going to be very strongly about them things that I do and -- which come true group in Rhode Island is low culture had a big difference between wish come true. And make with the do the same kinds of things. But wish come true is a local organization locally banks -- doesn't have a national foundation to like make which does and the big difference between the two organizations that every dollar that you spend you know is going to be spent on a child from Rhode islanders southeastern Massachusetts. Make a wish being a very large and still very good organization being very large corporate entity all the money that's raised locally gets into corporate. They get their cut advertising's salaries -- of the going to be thinking out of it before it gets sent back to local chapter. -- higher percentage of the dollar that you spend. For the chair. Is -- wish come -- That's the big thing because we've got basically for five now five part time employees part time employees at which are all part. So that you know cut the overhead makes more of the money go to the which is that we grant to the children which is the big difference though you know if we hope that if you're you know in the local area or even if you're not what you're thinking of giving case would be that we would hope that you choose which improvement if you know -- gonna get more bang for your -- more of your dollar is going to the kids who live. Here and that's the biggest difference that -- so thank you day for that note -- guys and a I understand some what -- pointers alone. We appreciate your your interest and I'm not very happy we have left -- what do we have left to get into hearing what are what are we said with -- patriot -- with press covers. Thank you very much okay let's start Junior Seau -- the Junior Seau and Bill Belichick still would get reported. So -- all -- met with members of the patriots media and he's got some. Poignant things and some specific things talked about in terms of matching up with Jack -- Jack -- on Saturday."
[1:35:46]" the linebackers look five blocks. So let me -- they've played records. Other than that -- sharp fall out of grass you know that you can't say enough about those guys yeah they do a great job I know how. You know the running back they'll win -- oppose a wide open and we get to go and I'm the only shoot it. And you know being protected by those guys everyplace -- On the line."
[1:36:20]" It's doubles guys like. -- motivation at all because he does is shrug it off like our."
[1:36:32]" I mean you know back today when backtracked those guys -- hall of famers guys are that are integral part of you know of the game. And we like the carrots -- in that manner if we have camp those those -- ago. I passed him. -- and again. This kind of winning at all hours ago."
[1:37:01]" it's against my boss how much you relish this idea --"
[1:37:11]" I've we've been spoiled here in new England and now in terms of you know being in -- post season. -- probably on the in my I think my first full season in the last thirteen years. -- thought it different for every. But you know we are working one day at a time as you guys heard many times before the only way we nod or or you know we want to look too far ahead and complain he's not our friends when."
[1:37:39]" Yeah definitely at all win the division I versus it's an online game."
[1:37:48]" While the pressure's on you know you that you're not -- anything. You know the only thing working -- is one day one day after the other and we have a game on Saturday. We happen to do well there they can -- self employment the week after that. That's about it that is now -- business and no longer a game a bit and now we're fighting for employment."
[1:38:10]" Ellis was fun yeah. He wasn't as big tough physical fast team like -- to have everything that you. Zero really notice my secret strategy -- yeah."
[1:38:25]" You don't have that Dallas. I was a lot of things that indeed that. -- and that's what we're trying to do today and hopefully tomorrow. Every day examine different and you know you can't pinpoint. What will be working on you know on a given day there's so many things that we need to work on. But a -- clue about how we get it would kind of torn an -- where we needed. We need -- position of the way and our courts."
[1:38:59]" Big -- that break here. Long question you do."
[1:39:13]" Quality in 94 I was what 23 I'm now 38 we don't know -- a long time ago. And I whenever you getting news the playoff win when he -- as early as a human being he thinks anything he's going to come back again. Come back around but in it doesn't it hasn't always worked that way. And doesn't always work that way what I have thought I would be here after eighteen years now. I want them it just worked out the way it did and now here we are now we're going to have to face it. Hungry didn't plan but there weren't home I'm not here for anything out you know I'm not familiar phrase I'm not here to practice. I'm here to go to meetings you know -- it's a great game and I do love again. But you will love to finish it the way you dreamt of finishing it when you're. And now only if that if I can I knew that coming here there was a chance of winning. Not to win just that well but just to win and I knew that in this league if you win consistently enough. It allows you greater things. And that's the formula that I think Norway at you know ever since that aren't. And at the chance of winning has led to what we are today that's that's how we have to chance. And hopefully you know at the end and today we can me on this and we can talk about them out or on television. You know we we we average out --"
[1:40:55]" last year you could participate in the post. Did you ever have doubts that you could post them here out of the zone and I don't have played below anybody here."
[1:41:06]" I never doubt my mind again a horrible. -- one thing I've always -- mountain -- but people around in the locker room were happy that. You know never allow the world you know put barriers. Aren't aren't US -- Or as a player or as human beings. -- what you should be doing what you're saying at -- age that you may be and I never allowed that to happen. And I believe that you know with good health experience and god given talent. Do what you wanted to do and do it with a part of it right. And everything else -- work at all and that's right."
[1:42:15]" We tried to forget about it on superbowl in 49ers with. All the talent that they had you know -- and I am you know and in in in an airport you know what what. Twelve years ago. Or even more we've won there in years ago I mean it wasn't there as an athlete as professional athlete to going there and compete. Adam at the high level that you'd hoped to and to go out there in them. I haven't had it on national TV -- the world watched all it was a matter."
[1:42:55]" That's Junior Seau members of the patriots media earlier -- stated. Willow wrap up today's program with the patriots coach Bill Belichick only a couple of the predictions in the quickly. Our friend Diana Bridgeport Connecticut's is John given the -- that this is a real matchup game -- spent hours she says hours. Reviewing the jags game results and comparing the result the patriots have done more than on any other compares in this season. The patriots -- the jags offense and the events. Thinking the different scenario is adding the emotional content the -- and likely to bring I predict patriots 34 jaguars twenty. Who would not be surprised by a score 48 point. I -- thank you for putting that kind of time and effort into appreciated. Woods where Wales one Ottawa and read you very quickly oh here we go patriots 38 jags seventeen this comes from Mike in Portsmouth, New Hampshire originally up a bit of the pats would at all this year. That several players might retire Bruschi senators brown but outside of a lot of they win at all in the still undefeated perfect. And the legacy to the greatness of this team continues on next year. -- only three games to break the 21 game win streak that would want to walk away from that although Troy brown will probably hang it up and number should be retired. Now that's an interesting thought August time is going to bear that out right hum let's see. Let's oh yeah Dagmar from Miami gives his prediction and he would he says he only wants me to say he is a little Brian Lowe and Kristina Akra. Tell them that I waited last night for the patriots today addition at home and I had to go to bed without watching it. Hope to open courses becoming some kind of patriots today addict she's hot too while that's. We get a papers today addict. Dagmar OK small doses small doses says I do hope to see that's tomorrow with the courts that we all feel that way right. This was his for John -- from bill -- oh is young is building where -- California. As I noted or wanted to come and Ellis Hobbs Laurence Maroney. Like many fans and commentators I -- at -- wondered out loud about the quality -- play from Hobbs and -- based solely on what I -- And go to particularly to play during the first to have the giants game inning through deep down feel Hobbs is their to wrap up the receiver but he should have done a better job of keeping the ball and the guy's hands. A couple of days ago press coverage he says he thinks it was -- Ps we talked about those two plays he made an excellent point that I think we all forget sometimes the player that we see these fans. -- media reporter or analyst doesn't necessarily reflect the true nature of the play. Piece of that option have had help on the first play but the help wasn't there. He didn't specify but I assume this would been a safety on that -- fourth receiver more inside their -- giving jobs their opportunity that's absolutely the case. And in fact -- believe if I'm not Sanders -- his like at a glance destroy this one bill. That was what the story in the Providence journal said today it was pretty much the same thing that you're talking about here. So was take a look at -- common in my get a better bit of an idea of that. I think you for all of your emails and your predictions and in all sorts of good things but it's time frightened frankly right now -- football so while hopefully we'll see about that on not. On a Saturday night and provide the patriots went well patriots playbook lives for another week and would be talking about a potential AFC championship game. At home in Foxborough. Next week we'll save that for next week. -- this week patriots head coach Bill Belichick."
[1:46:24]" We -- One and down our preparations here. Try to get all situations -- be ready to go on Saturday night."
[1:46:42]" And what think you know of course there they're -- younger and you know so things were reported good job both you know no and Jose you know kids we've got a lot of work on coming out Florida fast real athletic guy. You know a lot of range back there's been a bunch of place warm stand. It is now an -- it's him. If Sammy. You know really there is very -- don't want to have you know or is Miami area and thank you guys around -- ball. It's quarterback well that in Denver it's been under article and cousin and the third or third corner. And on both their safeties are in a playoff at the moment -- mean 55 -- did you and a good good depth of their corner -- And -- Because -- good good young players to you know -- what's important to. --"
[1:47:49]" Who hurt her opponent. And you can only two -- to choose from one thing they win one of them was."
[1:48:00]" And after the team was. I mean not Nick Markakis you know win or lose and arsenal one player who plays that are. Some you know. He could -- a lot more out of a tape that is just. Had more relevance to you. Wendell --"
[1:48:25]" only my uncles."
[1:48:29]" You know what's Francis might have no longer."
[1:48:34]" Well probably the hardest thing at left tackle is out and bought athletic pressures that come off that island which is usually usually where the other team does. Or most athletic rusher is now -- a structure that Mark he's athletic rusher you know left tackles got to block a very athletic guy out there and pass rush -- got to block you know big guys like. Why there you know this week or. It guys in our that we in our division you know that bit on in the running game that are 300 pound 290 whatever they are and and block them and a running game combination the athletic enough. The bought the athletic pass rushers and a vegan style not all the the big guys and running game on and on power. And it's occasional get a lot of help over there because most teams are right handed most teams put them. The pass -- to. Right always most generally -- most teams there is little more. It's pretty challenge of their terms of block and those athletic guys yeah. Yeah Australia and audit might -- lose you know does a good job he's not you know it's not the biggest guy but he but he big -- he's not the most athletic of these athletic enough. You know there probably stays in the upper echelon of both of those categories but there. Probably left tackles that that was you know if you want to in the -- test result that would have better than him that are bigger than him but I think he has a good combination. You know mental toughness technique size athleticism and quickness you know to be competitive against a lot of different types of players out there which which -- force and running game.
