[0:37]" And inside the playbook for a one Tuesday here patriots dot com radio. I'm John -- tons of stuff to talk about today's game tons. Of items going on -- at least which is the -- Randy Moss allegations that are coming out of -- that reported today if you are just logging on where you're just at tuning into podcast whatever you are not aware. What's going on outside of New England concerning Randy Moss bring you up to date on that here momentarily Kevin AC who covers the San Diego Chargers for the San Diego union. Tribune will be joining us here approximately thirty minutes on the program shall units and charger issues with Kevin follows the team and at the end. In day out basis. But we also have a conference calls and we have interviews from coach Belichick Tom Brady Benjamin Watson and -- Thomas time permitting we'll get to all those at some point and during the course program. And as European W guys tell you a ton of emails coming in which we certainly expect this week lot of questions like comments from -- so we're going to get to as many of those as we possibly can. You'll have those sit in web radio at patriots dot com is the email address simulate email address as PW progress web radio. -- patriots dot com. So fire up your question your comments your concerns. Your criticisms if you like 5 wait 5437482. That's the telephone number and we can to a talk produced well I just want to off the top here before we jump and into the Randy -- thing and again. Bear with me if you -- all along -- POW and you've heard all this already. It's because sometimes we do get a new audience from time to time in here dislike radio program. Or somebody's downloading this podcast and they don't really know or they're not sure of what's going on and yes the recent opinion. As well as fact to offer on the subject so we'll get -- quickly as possible I would ashcroft's top. That you have any thoughts what do you think this affects the patriots one way or the other team on the field or off the field. Go ahead fire off the email let me know what you think web radio pat patriots dot com at all about feedback -- thought about finding out what you. Think about particular -- Com -- we you know. One of the things that we kind of jumped into a little bit asked to do with the fact that them calm. You know we've been following along the coaching things that are going on throughout the league have been a lot of coaching openings and course the Miami Dolphins and they have hired Tony soprano is a former assistant to the Dallas Cowboys to be their head coach in. It was like the fourth dolphins coach now on new coach in five years which is just. An extraordinary turnover rate you would think that even in a best case scenario that a guy like Esperanto bringing in his guys an and having people that he can work with did he might take him a year or two. Minimum in order to integrate his system. It still an ad for cam Cameron didn't and he could even finish the first year before he was pretty much gone so you know he singing and doing all the right things have you ever heard some of the comments. On out of dolphins camp over his hiring today is -- coach the Miami Dolphins and I encourage you to go that way and listen because you know he's eight. -- guy and I certainly know that the cowboys thought very very highly of him. But don't you what is strange. Rubbed the top and everybody seems to be raiding the cowboys' coaching staff. He and the cowboys with a team that failed miserably. In the opening round of the playoffs this year and back cowboys have one playoff game since what 1986 I believe. But yet it's their coaches that are all being considered for head coaching jobs elsewhere you know so. So would you want to about the I mean I think it's -- maybe it's because they can't. I don't know with the guys that are our coaching the patriots right now only Josh mcdaniels is the one -- thought of it in a head coaching way and he came out very early in this process and he said you know what. Thanks but no thanks I'm happy where I am. Now that means a couple of things to number one means that maybe. He's just -- smart 31 year old person he's not very old there 830 today he's young he's a kid comparatively speaking. But the same time maybe he also has some savvy to maybe he seen the business -- guys up and spit them out. Maybe he seen guys going to other positions before they're ready. I don't know. Maybe he was adversely affected by Eric Mangini leaving one most everyone thought he was leaving may be a little those soon. But only opportunity came opted to to go run your own team -- program especially with the New York Jets you know he jumped maybe gallon -- is just may may be. Maybe Bill Belichick talked to Josh about this. Instead don't make the same post that -- the I don't know who -- it could be all of something it could be very little of something he could be you know you know the answer is always somewhere in the middle is that not it's what's. Somewhere in the middle of the extremes. Could also be that you know he feels like he needs more experience. And he needs more success and maybe he's waiting for better gig and the ones that were opening up. Co -- But it is -- strange that the cowboys coach -- seemed to be you know pillaged right now. What the patriots are pretty much closed the door the patriots of the team that are getting ready to you know try to work to win the -- despite that a little. Interesting little -- today and I'd like to know what your thoughts are about that. -- that says anything one way or the other about a the Dallas Cowboys and their coaching staff or being doesn't say anything more especially in a positive sense about the patriots. And their coaching staff. And their way of doing things. Web radio pats patriots dot com that's how you respond to -- today via email. -- before we get the some of these email I did want to fill you -- on the absolute you know news of the day one of the reasons that were here and give your thoughts. In our comments on on news that the patriots Macon in or don't make the rat hole Randy Moss issued today moss claim today said earlier today your Gillette will play this for you you're just couple moments allegations that he committed battery against the woman faults and that she made the claim to get money. From him as though what espn.com was reporting errors today in NFL dot com is in the same thing. -- pro football talk dot com is got you know some other twists and turns the this particular case. And you know choose your favorite pro football's -- you probably going to find out about it -- it's right at the top of the at -- of this is a story. The woman is identified in court records -- his were shall Washington of Fort Lauderdale 35 years old. She filed for and was granted protection against moss she alleged that he committed battery against her this injunction in Broward county Florida it is up now for a court hearing a court date on January the 28. This was being reported by European with in the last fifteen minutes yourself. So there -- court date set although there have been no a repeat. No charges filed in this particular instance he's just up for a hearing. On January the 28 according to -- Cornelius -- no criminal charges have been. Moss didn't really give any details of this alleged incidents may have taken place saying he was restricted by the legal case moss said that the woman was a friend for the past 1011 years and that she asked for six figures for what moss that was an accident in which she was hurt. -- provide any details about his alleged -- but he says whatever allegations were made their faults. He said -- last couple -- days he's been fighting against threats of going public with this if you didn't pay X amount of dollars. And apparently he's left it to his legal you know attorneys is attorneys to to handle. And that's what the story came out and that's what you responded today his quote was this young lady by no means is -- I did not hurt her. So -- what you hear from Randy Moss the patriots wide receiver all pro wide receiver earlier today at Gillette stadium in regards to these allegations."
[9:13]" You know before people rush quick to judgment I think you need to find out the facts about really was don't know one this young lady by no means is her I didn't hurt her. You know because I think that what I heard was -- really don't know the whole story. -- of what's been -- all I know Islam supposedly -- battery or whatever maybe that. Up physically -- woman well I want to make them clear. In my whole entire life for live in thirty years of never put my hand of one woman physically or any or any angry manner so. This battery that they're talking about I guess for the legal or illegal that point there has to be something it though like a hit I don't really know all the facts are really don't know what going of one you know -- everything's been latest. -- I know is that you know friend in my young lady and -- was an accident where she herself. And down to where the Vietnam. Call call me call my attorney. Trying to trying to get X amount of dollars out of me in if we don't give X amount -- both wrists before the game before this game. Anything like Gibbs so they went on and -- I'm actually going to hold off. Up for questions really wanted to get out there to the people that. You know I am aware of what's going going and I don't really want people to rush quick judgment in not known fact though -- My team -- don't have many saying to do with this they don't know winning thing I think it was just brought to their attention so. If -- pleased to lead them out of it because they don't know anything we're going on I don't really know the whole. Situation was going on just bits and pieces. Allow him you know and it definitely was not my intention of -- thing like this like it with his battery with a woman. You know there's there's really not my make up that's not me -- never been in this situation where I have to put my hands -- anyone and any lady so well like say ma'am for you rush quick judgment find out all the facts before you start. You know criticize me or judge in me -- I think."
[11:22]" That's a lot of things until everyone's quiet -- and it and -- not -- about -- because this is serious matter. What I am saying is that -- and leave it went situation like if the players know lefties is that you've got the few teams do you guys. That that to make it an assumption that this guy artist is a totally true or they want -- break and you look -- That's one thing that I want to do because you know throughout this whole of the post season everything's been possible. So while what I bring something negative -- what we're trying to do an what and hopefully. What what's gonna happen if it if we do if we do things right in the next month. I would never. -- what is that fair in love the game of football love my teammates that I would never put myself or him in the situation of something like an excellent. Ground and Robert about no I'm known as young lady eleven years. Though it's supposed to be a friend of mine. -- what. I'm known for eleven years I mean I know how are you Meehan later record got and don't somebody call 1115 years and you -- thinking aloud -- dreamed of something like this what happened to get money. Over an accident six figures that you come into that -- I did not want to give -- trouble with how well. Went public in general and as hard because of everything that I have been through some. The mostly the negative off the field. And it it is really hard for -- for me to it to since it appeared in and you know say to them -- you know battery I didn't hit a woman I've never -- my hands on the one. So for you to say battery and I think if there was no such thing and in in the court system -- an exit yet. Then that's what I'm as well I'm guilty for before you'd say physically in angry man or whatever to manner maybe put my handle on the -- I've never done and we. I think the best thing is that is that it resonates around. -- not I have never hit a one. I do not hit women that's not what I'm supposed to be don't want job to do and that's the about from my family and have raised my children that's what I didn't -- in the I'm very disappointed and timing -- disappointed that that the timing first of myself for four for being able. To to be in this situation but. Know what eleven years. It's hard to avoid it because now -- you expect someone like it didn't like that McCourt. She is now you have world vehicle's. I mean does that make sense I'm if he has all half he has no -- I'm not old enough -- one matter what to do when you live my youth definitely albeit. And not I can't I can't ever be happy because this is that."
[14:32]" Is is is -- negative some inevitable aware of black child hanging over my view. And that's something that I didn't did not want you know coming into the season is anything negative everything -- try to do come. Yet here early and make sure eat the right the right through all the way to practice and -- I want -- that to be eight plus. Yeah not just gotten to the floor look at it is coming to look at that look not only reason I went to coach may have -- the magnitude of that's something like this how was won't take golf. And like -- if if I'm guilty I am truly sorry I'm want to stand up for what's right are really -- what would you say there's there's. Matt I don't want to get to them now I'm known as 111 years you know -- I don't waste any anything bad on this one. I mean as as the love I have for her as a -- You know even though these allegations -- or whatever she's -- army I average can't be mad at at at that. We could mean about what she's donuts what's he's doing I mean he's hurt he's money that's honor than anything you confident that the importance of -- have to be. I mean afraid yes the friendship was over but by the same and I am not man I'm not bitter I -- and in this situation I'm out of extortion and yes I'm at about that but. 44 so often friendly and accidents occur. I mean it happens I -- stuff does happen what was it when it I'm not only him to anybody that's what -- that are best for ya I'm not -- given that. Now you're probably not I'm not listen this is my last thing and Thomas they -- thing almost they come into. Me -- Mike Piazza judgment novels they would shall want to this week me today tomorrow and that we got a they would ever -- want. But make sure very sure before you rush to judgment that you know which you talked about before you say if all of a thing."
[16:28]" And I appreciate it thank -- Matt's -- Randy Moss from earlier today at Gillette stadium on his -- response to the allegations into the charges that have been levied. Against him in Broward county Florida now. Last not a Florida radio station WD BO post historian of website. Saying that this injunction had been entered against Randy Moss for protection. Against dating violence that's what it -- but just a couple of hours later again later last night station and pulled the report without explanation from the website. And it's on the pro football talk about -- picked upon as well. -- in my email in box this morning and I had three separate people email me from this radio station website in. What do you know but what do you heard about that's obviously my answer I don't know into. -- on pointed out about it dislike you more but they're the street station now has three posted a copy of the document to its website. And obviously we're talking about the one same Randy Moss that in a place for the patriots I guess. You know personable why did they posted the -- and then post it again. I think it's legitimate question west. You know more than not sure about the story to begin with that they have to you know did did somebody call and threaten them if it's up there and then they found out later after moss then. You know about it in the put it back up there because it legitimize the story. I don't know. All I can tell you is it's a little fishy there's obviously a heck of a lot more of the story hopefully at some Stanton will all find out about it my question to you today is does this now serve. As a distraction to this team and try and prepare for this football game on Sunday what are your thoughts. You really do you believe Randy Moss. Do you believe what he has just told you. You believe what you heard. You know that this was on the that you know they were trying to do to extort money from him. And leak it now before you know the week before this big game you know the AFC championship game goodness sakes I -- You know moss has been the model citizen all season along with -- patriots in spite of some of his zone -- on past troubles shall we say. Some people I'm sure thing and I've been waiting for the issued a drop. And there are others that I'm sure will be saying well let's cut him a little slack. Depending upon what the stories because we don't know what the story we have no idea. No way of knowing of the stage of the game until you know court can actually you know come with some sort of conclusion. And again there's a hearing scheduled for January 28 would be of the beyond that we don't know anything more about. So based on what you heard. And you know at this point in time is this now a distraction. To this football team is -- a distraction to the preparation for the game is it a distraction to Randy Moss. -- video at patriots dot com is the email address love to hear your thoughts. On this particular story today and that's really it that's all we know you're looking for a little more today you're looking for more comment on it -- I'm not sure what else we can give you although the fact that it's happened it's out there Randy has responded to it he certainly stood up to it. You know who knows. I would suggest that he is absolutely correct in certainly one facet of this. And that would be wait until you get all of the facts before you rush to judgment. He also said that you know if he's found have done something -- this for sick ticket situation that he will own up to which okay that's great. Mean it's great that he says that doing -- I think is an entirely different matter. I'm not going to rush to judge it's unfortunate that the other 52 guys in the locker room. You know may have to have this affect them in some form or fashion isn't enough to affect this football team. In a negative fashion going into this game with the chargers I don't know. I guess time will ultimately tell that. But my guess is is that you don't know these guys in the locker room -- thing about it. They other than what they might have -- Earlier today and so they can't comment on it to them it's just BA -- business as usual. It could affect Randy Moss. Maybe then may may be it won't maybe he'll maybe you'll use the gridiron sort of speak as a way to you know protect. Move on give him some sanctuary from you know his off the field troubles as they now presently exist. Who knows and in time is going to tell but that's why I ask you the question of what your thoughts on patriots nation needs to respond here. You know give me some you know. Give me your thoughts on the you know if he did it if you didn't do it what should happen if you want to go that far that's fun let me know if you -- rush to judgment. Are you -- judging the man based on past history already taken on -- case by case basis I don't know that's why I'm asking the question that's what its other -- you may think it's ridiculous I. You know I'm frankly. I have my initial inclination I'll be completely honest with. My initial inclination here woods to. Simply ha -- blow blow. I wanted to and I wanted to blow over it I want to -- geez you know now why now why do this now why why have something like this happen now. And the more thought about -- personal it is news. It is something that is going to affect this team either -- in a large faction -- a very small faction. But it will effect one way or the other because it's you know leading you know newscast sportscaster and web sites and you know it and all over the country all over the world for that matter. Because of the magnitude of the game is coming up this Sunday. -- it well you know we'll be burying her head in the sand and doing a disservice to you do. In a fan of of pro football worked in the patriots it we didn't have something to say or something to do with it. And so that's kind of we come from today and that's the attitude that -- taken this and I were treated for what it is it's a story and then we'll leave it open ended because it's obviously going to be a continuing story and if the patriots do manage to win this weekend. Is going to continue into next week because that's when a hearing is going to be elder. Actually two weeks to be the week for the Super -- there's going to be hearing -- imagine that Randy would be in Florida for the magazine have to be in Arizona in my who knows. Who knows what you know will they it will they actually ask him to you know making of I don't know. Again time is going to tell but it is store that's not going to go away between now and the Super Bowl that's for sure. Pat patriots dot com email address and -- here in just a few minutes. Kevin Casey who covers the San Diego Chargers for the San Diego union Tribune newspaper the Jonas on the program. Who will also loan here -- Bill Belichick Tom Brady Benjamin Watson and it was Thomas. -- in their locker room interviews from earlier today time permitting but we got a ton of emails that we also want to get to today because you take him time to share them with us and so we want to try to. To as many of your question your comments and as in your concerns. As we possibly can so that's why will kind of go with some of these things that are going on here today some. Let me start with them column from Bristol against these emails coming from POW and we're centering. Their time on the air and we do want you know that we do read them all as we always do we do read a mall sometime we just can't physically get to double. Get to as many of them as we can. Colin from Bristol -- has just had a question and wanted to who you thought about when I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday a lot of the shows at -- point on how all writers are going to pursue despite -- fact that the patriots make it to the Super Bowl. After an Associated Press release stating that the jets had a cameraman without permission to saving plays during last year's AFC divisional round before spike gate. What do you think needs to happen concerning this is always great show thank you it we -- not news that's news that we've known about some time that. The patriots you know that apparently the jets and asked for permission to. Videotape as they always do the patriots let's say they did not grant permission while the jets -- had permission granted which I can't imagine happening. So there's obviously more -- there to that story than meets the -- or -- But if if if writers to bring up spike it there's absolutely nothing you or I or any member of the knowing the patriots can do about. That's their right -- their prerogative. It was a story it was an issue it was something that was brought up it's out -- you'd like you know as the cats out ninety -- back into the -- is not going to happen I would suggest that if cut them more than that right does bring up spike gate and if they bring it up you know like during an interview week if the patriots are fortunate enough to get that far I would guess that it will probably causes certain degree of consternation. In and amongst the members of the team means got like I had nothing to do this and yet I'm still getting asked about it. So you know I'm sure they'll be ready for it on should have a pat -- upon answer for it. In of the get tested -- up I'm sure it'll stick in the crowd of what with a use it -- some kind of motivation and the the whole season colony has been motivation against that. I think these guys have been sufficiently motivated the point where they want to leave no doubt. That they are championship worthy and that they are. One of the great teams of all time I think that's what this story has helped fuel this season I'd think there's absolutely something to that. Sold it to the limits and bring it down I really don't know. Tells you considered do about it I just don't think that it it's going to matter that much beyond that. Our others who comes from being in. In Charlottesville, Virginia. Who says I was really bored at work this morning -- some -- a sort of making a list of all the quarterback matchups -- super history going way back to suitable one. You realize that has been ten years since we last had a matchup of two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks playing against each other. Who knew when John Elway beat bird farm in the Super Bowl twenty 32 that we wouldn't the other epic matchup for the next decade. To see Brady and farm squared off this year would be an excellent game would be one of the most memorable games the Super Bowl history. By the way when you look down the list of Super Bowl quarterback matchups one game sticks out like a sort of Trent Dilfer versus Kerry Collins the cortex make the game in my opinion you know that used games on the ages well there obviously is jumping the gun a little bit already looking at the Super Bowl and I'm sure that makes chargers fans who would be. Logging in or listening to the program today very happy to hear that but. -- he's you have to understand I mean in -- paralyzed patriots fans and certain faction -- fans feel like you know this is all the -- complete it's going to move on. One of -- who bold talk about and I can rest I can assure you that it. That attitude is not shared it down the hall. Great respect for the chargers. We as fans and we as media members can afford to speculate we can afford to look down the line and can say the F. More so than those guys can't it's not a direct slight against. Anybody of media fans talk about it you know fans do it on fan boards and blogs and things like that all the time. That's all this in his. And I would agree I think Beatles -- to match up wife would be great but I mention of the program yesterday -- And I'll say it again here I'm personally personally and this is my own personal preference kind -- person rooting for patriots giants matchup why because I like the whole New York knowing -- thing I think it adds spice to the rivalry. I think it's -- and Sox Yankees for that matter. I -- New Yorkers like new englanders and vice versa. So I think that become a court plus you have ratings because you'd have to the largest markets in the country. It would be riveted on this particular subject so I don't think it would be. That would fall flat the ratings because it's all its New York and New England I mean you could say that about any Super Bowl. I think people watch the Super Bowl period because it is the superbowl. -- but that's my personal preference. Com I I couldn't argue with the Brady -- match up who could you write to Hall of Fame you know caliber quarterbacks going at each other. And you'd get a lot of matchups like this in the ultimate game of the superstars were actually the focal point -- My guess is that you know hopefully with a little luck knock on wood right we'll have much more talk about after. This Sunday where that's concerned are standing in -- as I was wondering what was Igor Olshansky thinking -- of these players learn. He's talking about the Olshansky. Comments that he made concerning the patriots -- really didn't think there was much about it to be honest with."
[29:32]" It's usually I mean there to work we yeah believe me they know."
[29:41]" Yeah well I'm sure they do know what's up. I was Igor Olshansky -- and defensive tackle for the year for the chargers in you know I don't there was anything inflammatory with a particular comment I'm not sure I mean. They know what's up you know welcomed me. I had to say one word to regulate your use -- what's up and he says Giles or the golden said he was mad about it. Rivers is a mouth he POS all I could think of was a more talented rocket -- leave. I know he's had to leave the seems to flow to hold chargers team though a lot of talk. Then comes the whining the crying in the belly -- they are dysfunctional family or in this case team. With infighting and arguing between quarterbacks and running backs expect to see some of that this week debatable. Either or both rivers and LT play. -- the patriots have more yards per carry this year in the headlight than they have like for 26 years so figure that out they can't run just hasn't been the emphasis the of this offense. But these were used to run first -- when needed not pass first we couldn't win needed. And -- clean Bill Belichick knew he was doing -- Maroney Nellie is fresh and healthy not beat up and worn down from 300 carries in the regular season. Maybe I'm wrong but when you've got happens on the outside like Stallworth moss walker and the quarterback take advantage of it that's what they have done. Anything for the email as always we appreciate your contributions to the program. This team will come from ten in -- Who -- three quick points. Based on the way the playoffs have gone boastful or it looks like there has been a good case for not. Resting players and meaningless games part of the playoffs Tampa the colts the cowboys were all the teams that took the last game or two off. Now I would say that the very very good assessment. Number two I want to Seymour being made at the shot out of LT and rivers on the sideline. In the shot LP asks rivers about -- the biggest asking if he was going back in and LT giving the kind of reply and walking away. -- news on the well hopefully we'll have a chance to ask that very question can any single but and always this is a question for Andy heart. -- double Bs as an all you loved -- players but in the urban dictionary definition of him the ball bounce up you Chester four years ago was this topics and -- him out to be prepared to eat your words and a few years that Nina do you -- often you must like the taste. -- thanks for the -- one one. The world will go Kent. Aren't let's salute continue one year old a couple of other notes this is Scott -- see where he's writing from but he says. When -- got rewards and I've been -- pats fan my entire life -- says I'm originally from Boston but I am now studying abroad in Moscow Russia. Excellent Scott great to hear from you thank you so much for cinemanow. He says since American football is nonexistent in Russia the only way that I can get real patriots news is through your program. Commenting on what you were talking about on Tuesdays program San Diego like New England is a team that depends on holistic approach every player is more important. Two is important to win. Pats fans will never forget when the whole team ran out on the field as a team during the Super Bowl rather than naming star players individually. That being said how much we hundreds effects in Diego when it is the only team that rivals -- limit the number pro bowl selection and to all pro players -- the quarterback may not apply. Well hum. You know honestly injuries will -- Diego. Publication especially when -- of two pro bowl caliber players in in LT and rivers the ones that are hurt now. Taylor -- one who wants Taylor for LT forgive me show on my -- bit more here Ladainian Tomlinson. I'd think I'd know him -- TCU -- group of four or like you know no LT com. I was -- says he's going to be close to under percent as you can possibly be at this time a year before the game. I have no reason to -- I did find -- curious. And specifically speaking to that incident at the last email -- have brought up about the shot of those two guys the sideline with you know. Tomlinson and in Philip Rivers kind of going at each other not really fighting but. You know looking somewhat perturbed with -- each other you know on the were bowled out on the sidelines from the colts game. This last week I find it curious that if he had a chance to go back in why he might not -- He just didn't know enough about what is Hendry was ended want to do anything effective but then again. I'm of the opinion you don't dude that your last game he got to go out you know. I mean what you say and four right. Totally curious. You know this is not to demean. The back -- and taught me every good team has to have depth the patriots goodness we -- know they've been able to build what they've built in this decade because of depth. One guy goes down they've got another guy that can step up or my score the can step up into the slot and do the job effectively. If not excellently you know I mean but that's -- patriots have become the patriots. And social you know Michael turner he's certainly capable they paid over two million dollars to be a back up running back in San Diego this year. Capable better. Look we know less but then again what we did see them against the colts who led the team and a touchdown drive the given the lead and ultimately the winner of the game. He has a whole season worth her least eight games were two years ago hope of doing the very same thing in Tennessee with the titans although. Obviously too much less extent of success but the beginning and possibly the argument here near the team built up around it in Tennessee that he does now. In San Diego so who's the question what -- a kid so if he's given a hole and what these guys it certainly seems to me. Then he's got at least to -- These guys were. You know all that ultimately be starting and one soul the injuries have to affect the team at some point. Have to affect the team at some point -- My guess his. And again this is the best guess scenario I my guess is that. If those two just -- LT placed. Well let's say Republicans of starting which I think is a likely scenario like listener -- pop and it's not going to happen that we don't know that I mean. It will be the first to report late this afternoon. Were following it throughout the course of the week my guess is a decision won't even be made internally by the chargers until probably Saturday. When they have to you know listener inactive players. I don't even know to be enacted maybe he'll be deemed as the second -- to come in if something happens to Bolick who knows. But I would -- based on what we know at this point in time I would say that LT starts and in the -- starts. And if that does that but my guess of the San Diego probably plays close to the best on offense somewhat adrenaline take the travel it -- and maybe if if gates can go that try to let them carry the load just to take some of the pressure all the -- can certainly take the ball Brady's hands much like some of the other teams that have gotten close to the patriots this year. My guess is it probably closely played game for the first half. And then in the second half my guess is is that you know again but all things being equal by that I mean patriots not turning the ball over. You know that it if if if dribble force a turnover to war if they're able to not turn it over even if they don't get turnovers and their own right. The -- things being equal than my guess is they start to pull away in the second half. Similarly to what you saw -- Jacksonville this past week he also says living in Moscow I -- but how the weather can affect the man do you think cold others really go into effect professional player and might have playing in the last week dances San Diego's advantage. Furthermore it LT is on is active on the roster and is it true competitor I don't see how he could miss it do you think that San Diego may have the advantage if there is no one wind. -- take in my questions will be -- to be listening to your program through superbowl Sunday. He's as good pats and its Scott -- is please feel pretty used part or all of might even though that you programs Scott is what we did you do all of it and referring to is from Moscow Russia and he's originally I'm from Massachusetts and Scott we appreciate your right tuning in and listening to a zone on the other side of the planet here some. You know I I've I would think that San Diego's could certainly have a competitive -- lastly because they were playing in the dome out because of that the weather factor but. I just don't know that the really affects professional football players as you kind of stated already. I really don't know who does I think the players have a tendency to block that out and it really doesn't matter much if any at all. Let's -- matters now concerning the of the San Diego Chargers can. DC government chargers for the San Diego union Tribune. Visits with -- is not your appearance at the playbook thanks again for the time today great to hear from."
[38:50]" Cannot do anything else no problem. These singles and excellence on the clock out saying it yeah. Tough call this team I -- you expected to be here and guys not tonight definitely didn't expect it but you know I didn't. What a little extra muscle though right -- absolutely there's nothing wrong with a good story absolutely and the the good story."
[39:15]" Absolutely it's -- that now I ask another potential story that -- more than one team Miller -- into us today. And -- used to -- extra body you know -- habitat and that went on between rivers and and LT on the sidelines on Sunday and not just to think that."
[39:32]" we don't like it so many emails about this and honestly with how busy this week shop for the first time I have not been able to watch the game against the I haven't heard anything more about it all I don't even know which one idiot but I will tell you this time. Just guilty beyond tired the TV cameras being focused on these two guys and and and we don't go to their head. And yet everybody we think we know what's in their head to what their stance. It's there I'll. -- Italian they're not the closest of friends but they are not enemies either. The respective air certainly both ways all of yes LT has been set up that time. I wish that might be strong LT has wondered at times wanted this kid -- went into a lot of different situations and LT just like Philip Rivers. Ladainian wears his emotions right there I mean they are right there. And and she doesn't suffer full PEQ did he hate losing I mean hate it. And an even at one point this year he was worried. About it is story he was worried about being seen as a -- because you know it is not that kind of guy and yet you realize you kind of an acting like that kind of guy."
[40:44]" Opposite people have different opinions on this subject but it feels like the turning point this Turner's team this year. In fairness opinion almost unanimous. One LT called a players only meeting after the team and on five and five. Instead this is what I'm willing to do this is what I'm willing to sacrifice but Ortiz -- alcohol brewers to be here what are you going to do would you --"
[41:08]" Absolutely I mean you know we can read too much into it that is absolutely because guys were talking about it the next day two guys word you know. Talking about it was a meeting of red. Ecevit decided that before the year and let's not looked great guy clear up he's not a big drinker. You know how got a beard and he decided hey that's just some aren't going to do this year. Com and any doubt that happen in the court so also telling the guys it's time to buy it. This is going to be our coach. This is going to be coaching staff. All -- good teams and the -- going down the drain. On the sacrificing what about what are you willing to do and I'd work a little about it because I had to that point it's funny like three days before that I'd written a -- and -- going to step up who's the leader on this team I've made it. Try to go about their good this right and everything to head coach who think although the Norv Turner and the job that he's done and I have from day one mom and have a polite respect -- only gotten stronger. But he's not you know this outgoing guy who's going to rally the troops could not Eisenhower did not shot I. I'm going to be the leader and LP. On -- these guys because he is maybe the best lead by example guy that you could have -- a lot of local guy so it meant a lot of them. A lot. They knew he was questioning north. They knew me. I mean the coaching that he hadn't that it that they nudity that concerns. And he admitted that that he did and he said it's time to stop and you guys -- to and that meant a lot."
[42:41]" I'm sure it didn't it is. Maybe -- like we can start now from square one and and build something in what happens -- this team was in a game winning streak."
[42:50]" want to -- and I. But the team that you know their victory because I think it's ridiculous that people are talking about either schedule what it was but I don't know but bottom of the game the patriots gave the patriots speak to all of and and -- The chargers. Had they play New England that -- is to go after Iraqis -- had a different result instead they were playing Baltimore at all. I -- fortunate that after it speaks -- the dugout tickets you like the blog Bruton bought."
[43:25]" Sure absolutely yeah. -- for the San Diego union Tribune joining -- inside the playbook what can you tell us the injury status right now but I'll be of walking wounded."
[43:35]" I think that it is possible ballplayer I know the outfield play in river or black. I'll I think he probably won't practice to. -- could return to practice tomorrow directing with Ladainian going to be. How you know I we won't know that started out there doing what he does it and how much would that injury affect him. On and then did you know river -- Again now I only it is it is a lot it would -- like in the landing -- and I got -- pro shop and play Atlantic it's -- all of that the grand Seattle's. On you've got to. He's played that the laughed. Did not practicing and you gotta go against this team what you didn't do well last time and truth be told even though the chargers play it pretty well the play -- have a great game against them. I'll let you know he's the -- world you could not. More salt river in the play out some very interesting to see how it doesn't know practice it's particularly the same thing to last week. Odd where you know probably surprised at all -- point on Sunday. I at this point there's no talent people -- concerned that it's getting worse bomb you know but -- good blah --"
[44:41]" Okay did you see a scenario where maybe. It actually starts the game."
[44:46]" Chelsea now know not Philip Rivers get down if he -- he can do it but it I think but he can't. Salt -- give them the best chance to win this game I heard one of the most asinine comment I've ever heard. And I really like Dan Patrick but someone told actions I've heard it but when someone told me odd bad that he said that billiard ball like. He was written to rivers and said the bullet taken it came down and scoring our shows the -- It's the system the system it's not Philip Rivers and it's are you kidding me some -- On Sunday will work as good as anyone of the league would make. Monday to a corporate touchdowns -- Billy had while mr. Kraft attack. And -- first it was a nice way to school way to scramble thought might not been able to do that. There's just no way if you go -- what bullet get on Sunday on -- what river bottom a lot of playoff game."
[45:38]" I would tend to agree with that but that is were spectacular by the way and in fact -- an -- Back and forth between a CYA basketball game and trying to get scored didn't catch a glimpse of the highlights and every time. Would take the lead -- would come back and I have to tell -- was immensely impressed with that."
[45:56]" We have a big bad because that you're planet that Paul and keeping up hurry back you're thinking it's only a matter of time before Peyton -- And those receivers that's -- and take the lead for good and they didn't very impressive the charges be cut."
[46:12]" No doubt now and let's find out of the year because if the same game plan is instigated it happened back in week two. In the target might find their hands full again like they had back and we had to -- Doesn't stand reasonably might -- charges in your restoration and trying to put a lot of pressure on Tom Brady."
[46:29]" Pressure it's already pressure on the receiver I mean what a joke that game one here is your worst coach -- ever seen out of the defensive coaches. They were you know in the defense. Did it -- and you know again I liked how it felt and it is true that the west -- game I've ever seen they're getting used to the players. Players are getting used to them it so good got another six weeks to buy into each other our -- to players to buy it it. Well the time was sort of like that the play caller you know on the on the deep and the communicators and that they can pregame warm up with a calf injury so that -- a guy named Tim dobbins who had no business doing about it special teams standout that's about it on. And really had anyone think the patriots the point do you -- what they were doing -- effectively as they were doing it just like some people -- you know -- but the general like that to be there the league like they don't look at Tom Brady can do now -- all of in the renewed already plus he added lesson. -- and just how about all that was going to be so. They -- and also -- Ted Cottrell has only substitute Shaun Phillips and -- and it's a completely different Nike now environment healthy again."
[47:41]" So you would be surprised to see them unleashed on Sunday."
[47:45]" I I think you -- you know and if you -- people attribute -- this period down he needed to people he's going to period you know. And then if you could write about it still might carried out there that I'd they've got a big got to go after him I mean they're that's -- This certainly that would -- explore all they they they were able to I didn't have to receivers which -- got to be the trading block you know old -- an incredible September 16 they were able to against lesser quarterback neutralize that you've basically everybody tried to. Even with the target the Packers did to them on with a with a quick passes on. And they -- what does it -- to neutralize that and had been in my opinion he's been as good as wade Phillips if not a little bit in some areas of -- in the blip up I can Argentine quite beside. No I've I've I do think I'm telling you chargers were not. It banged up and they are up I'd be taken the chargers I know I might be the only guy in the world. Bond I think the only items that they could beat the colts pick that but I -- they could beat up and it wasn't really the least bit surprised that they did I. I think patriots are going to win gossip every -- look at so be it the patriots and it being that I've seen -- heard people -- others this weakness I'm like well we're. -- go out. Then in the -- they have. I mean there's a reason I think it might be with a bigger reason that there have been the one team to get to this seventeen -- now is the focus they have at least from a from my vantage point."
[49:20]" Yeah they there be a lot of people would review review that the singularly most impressive aspect of beings and you know expect have been able to maintain focus on this. I ask you Seminoles can and tires this team ticking he had double digit underdog coming --"
[49:36]" Simply could that would restart. And they came in and -- body and all that fat man. And they were one of the elite teams and eight and and they would feel real good about it and the olden days you know they got -- young black -- and you. -- include and not going good of a and they realize we're not very good at being good and you know do we need to just tone it down. Club and they have really great and I know it's a lot of teams do you. Let it really graceful underdogs being able nobody like stuck up against the world deal Poland and acrimony at the patriots they get that. What -- probably going to be anybody will break it. And actually got real good that they've done really well. Because it was I believe it will go for a big old pizza there that I achieved ski -- that weren't a lot of only team. And you know. -- 18 year old."
[50:27]" You don't like that there's mutual respect between these two sides be cautious. Of this relative strengths or is there mutual respect because she wants to be eat these guys putting up bulletin board material."
[50:41]" That the -- he would be so yeah CCDs Stevens is more mature. I know if it. The way that it you know and and and I could be where it would be taken out way -- is it wasn't the brightest thing I'd -- that it took the color out of north based on him when he heard it. -- question about the respect oh in what the patriots to saint you can go to little overboard in that they'll technique goes and tell them what to do what is there what the players you know kind of looked at the end of the week is that. You do is look at. You know we had better get that that the patriots -- getting any respect all the not any respect needy from something. Maybe on some media I believe the patriots in the film. I didn't hit -- that -- on IP there's respect there and you haven't got that -- respect -- respect for the patriots."
[51:39]" Sure I would guess that that one of the factors to the chargers turning their season around in addition to you'll. Thinking like war and rather than being separate you have to -- three several players would effectively kind of stopped putting themselves stopped him. Key situations turning it over it all stops things themselves is that a correct assessment."
[51:59]" You get that -- I mean. They -- and at what point I even got stuck with it here -- it for the explanation a loser. I kept -- it. Phillips hadn't made that Lugo or if this road and two inches longer or whatever because. I mean I was on this morning and it was overwhelming the number of turnovers that looked like ten of their 44 turnover that'd be thinking in the first four games they were wondering. The result do -- work well for the year can't be at home -- Mardi Mardy afterward. On a key key turnovers on and their penalties more of them in the first four games -- not want them in the recipes but a disproportionate number. -- and they're negative run the offensive line. Doing a lot better club itself absolutely negative play on this team it would have been very interesting nothing and it would want. I think it would be -- after that they put the Packers in November and good would it definitely done a lot better against the patriots if it played in November but I don't think people understand it. How much this league is who you play when you play them."
[53:05]" That's very true. That is very true and that's -- the patriots this week have been sending. We really put any stock at all in the week two game because it's a different team that were playing this Sunday."
[53:17]" You generally attention to the to the last eight weeks or are you know 22 teams that bonds played a similar -- fans or this or that you know it's not like gut I think Chinese guy didn't spend a lot of time. On the Chicago Bears game against the chargers from week one you know I did. -- it it talented team plane now on and that. Kind of the deal I mean I don't know I don't -- team and hopefully let god there was something that got into the eagles Coughlin -- and the patriots you know on the -- the ravens. You know on the got the back of the could beat the ravens would definitely can be made it it's how is are you playing now."
[53:58]" That's very true well I'm going to ask another question that a couple of members have also sent in on and that has an effect one way -- the other. But the fact is is going to be very very cold that's going to be fifty degrees or so affect you say honesty either positively or negatively."
[54:14]" On the -- yeah I I specifically. Gossip because but I don't I don't think so no I mean it -- Let me just try to play with -- before he won't -- trying to think away needs needs yeah they've. Now not any more than -- patriots and now think the patriots practiced outdoors too much I eat I would think that it felt you were healthy yet I would -- hate me being. That favors the chargers a little bit maybe the belt Michael -- starting running back perhaps in Italy while I -- I don't think so I I really don't think too many cold weather games now they've never played it not in my tenure at dictating the caliber of the patriots in the cold. I've since retired in my memory we didn't know. A home one time those -- including -- to be in New England on them."
[55:04]" You a mere excellence."
[55:07]" I would think -- that I talked about like alignment and -- just a little bit I think a net. You sure you see someone to bear the thought and -- underwear yeah."
[55:19]" It's nice and -- that'll work most of Italy. Do you think the audience here. What do you think San -- need to do to hang around hang around and have a chance to steal -- maybe a little like they did this last week --"
[55:32]" Well let one of the -- is we -- around that particular ticket I had -- how difficult would gain an Indianapolis event in -- and on the fumble on that you know it's true that. Yeah the -- is he like he did last time I don't see that happening. Obsessing -- hurt -- again. Gotta get public and they didn't hit this year the only really big ticket after it easier said than done you read all of -- them but -- Get rid of that ball quickly accurately and it got the receivers available to do it they've got to hit those receivers they -- they just have to. On it and I know here's the deal. The chargers. Kill people with the turnovers. But the play of the team that doesn't make mistakes while. I think any hope and indeed he plays they -- they all the aggressive going after the turnover on and and and whole. Somehow Tom Brady who has moved interception against the before and -- that he makes the mistakes or that may be -- truly makes a mistake or you felt like. Big of the Gagne here I think it's not he has that personal pal yeah like I'm telling you I think it's -- I'm bringing up things where I. I keep the patriots do need to make -- I don't I don't know that yet they're going to beat the patriots are playing Dave obviously we'll let that mistake free game you know and that it. I didn't think they might need something in his game now. Yeah but -- or you can create them target had all but I'll tell you this because they warm and you heard it before because it's warm because of their bat off the Dixie there around the ball which they -- in the beginning of the year. That's more aggressive now -- without a doubt -- the charger picking it up most of time."
[57:13]" don't support it -- just because of the dimension of the team changed somewhat since the last time the patriots introduced but how -- Chris chambers helped. This offense if at all."
[57:23]" In the most important reason this team in the playoffs but human and and I don't all -- you've got a quality I think -- I didn't think was dealer rank the players -- just for fun just to get them out at me. Because you can do that football that is California. It's completely change especially want peace river got on the same page. You know went really that we were going to take with him this guy came in right away and even before he would catch a ball that rivers little little bit unlike the the best receivers chaired -- in. I ideal media does but he. All right this guy -- unable to the wherever you out an AFC east. Well maybe to and respect one got its been here and it's a comedian to do it I didn't want to everything humanly possible and just just a fantastic player. Changed this offense because all the stepped everyone talked about it gate doesn't talk -- you still leave someone else. To -- sneak in if they'd be out you still leave someone else hits and make them respect and and yet there with river -- rivers. In the beginning he would miss seeing you McCardell lose gone and Eric parker who -- And and I was the biggest reason that the chargers started one in theory is that those two guys were gone and and so that's like that day chambers single biggest reason that he would --"
[58:41]" fabulous you know. And actually he's -- Vincent Jackson a much better."
[58:46]" I think so too low -- that had done her -- He he won't he won't admit and it won't admit that he would own captain and that that that they got chambers because you know it. -- it to go to all that happened but it what that would eventually saint you know we've we keep it down with who we have been invented decided hey. I don't let you know turn this around here on the young guy and accepting blocking is a fantastic teacher and you know kind of got to respect that I had this good receivers coach. And Vincent blue. -- can't although it a month ago here. It's it -- a ball in the eyes of I would say 99% of the why did because he's going to second rounder -- to be a number one receiver and you know people's patience with the receiver is ridiculously well. The -- position balloon into the NFL. And rewarded in you know going to command and it good -- 99% of the market economy and and be that good in the first two or three years and military and most -- he'd better receiver now which it is dirtier than. Chris chambers -- Whence he had him in Miami and I'm I'm telling -- the chargers. Now -- they didn't have a single number one receiver besides Antonio Gates and every -- receiver at number one or it's been exactly that they've now got two guys that can be number one a lot of games that's probably got a plan --"
[1:00:13]" A favorite Kevin insight thank -- spend some time was to DC and we look for hearsay trust in your rival new England and like I said. Dress warmly. [1:05:54]" Let's go I don't I hear that actually now oh goodness we've lost so we lot of our sponsors don't of them. -- inalienable radio at patriots dot com momentarily we're going to hear from patriots quarterback Tom Brady for you. And then also coming up here just a little bit -- or expecting we'd hope we will hear from Phil Simms. Of course the as CBS television analysts will be working with Jim Nance to cover the game in Foxboro the -- Sunday course former giants have quarterback it has completed a national conference call. -- members of the media will be covering the they have -- of your game. And he said that that he would like to give us a call as well so hopefully we'll have that you wanted to hear from -- before the into the programs stay tuned. And will bring him to -- in the meantime this email comes from Michael in Columbus, Ohio says. After Troy brown had the punt bounced off of his face -- the camera -- Belichick sideline it's a thing that we were seen in the last to Troy brown. Now now that but in leases after Marvin Harrison fumble Tony Dungy of the same expression public will have to face more winners and again. What you'd expect. Frankly I think Harrison coming back to Indianapolis is much. More likely than brown coming back in new England and the pitches because of the number -- but the two players put in the respect places. He causes is why not try Stephen Neal of the goal line fullback he's athletic he's big he's used to pulling and blocking on the run and he'd be way better than Seymour. Well they don't really use Richard Seymour more effective use lineman period with the exception of they will use junior -- value might have noticed Mike from time to time now because -- to do it but frankly I think that kind of got away from -- the lineman because they're afraid that the -- won't be able to pull their legs out of certain. Situations that could injure them. So my news special Stephen Neal having had a shoulder problem all year long I really don't see that happening. I don't think you'll see Seymour back there again say -- is there because this is sales last go round -- he realizes that. So he wants to do it okay give my shot let him go. And frankly I think that Heath Evans is not a very good job you know at fullback when he's had to be and there are blocking situation. Mike thanks for the email and speaking of fullback in the offensive and what's going to happen this week it -- San Diego let's pitcher right to patriots quarterback Tom Brady. --"
[1:08:20]" If you miss. It over and over again I think he's an incredibly smart player and a I think that's what separates them. He's got great awareness on the field I terms of what he sees Sammy. A gifted physically there's no doubt about that I think everybody succeed at that someone had his size and his speed he has ability to stop and cut. -- football incredible hands. But I think the thing that is why guys like that but I think he takes it to the next level because those kids. But awareness and anticipation when the ball's going to be thrown and timing of routes and how deep fences are choosing to play him and how certain defensive backs -- big. And there's a lot of things a lot of things that they will be a great receiver and has all those traits certainly Aussie. It's give -- reputation. You know I wasn't at all and I wasn't and I. I didn't -- have met -- on a few occasions and always had a very pleasant experience for him so. But try not to pre judge anybody here stereotype anybody because. That's for someone else take a couple of for relationship development. As it has been really great relationship we have a lot of things in common in the we're from very different backgrounds I think. We both enjoy playing football and I think that's overriding characteristic of a lot of players in this locker room and that you did really well here here. You listen your coach can you do your job me hey you. You play hard you put team first so anybody can really fit in here that's what you choose to. To be about."
[1:10:16]" I don't know I don't know it's. -- the game late you're you're sort of reference you told you I was pretty confident we're built there is seen him do that since."
[1:10:26]" Very good came last week and and I think he's played really well down the stretch so I think anytime I'm. -- can -- a player -- everyone expects such. Such high expectations for him because you can see his ability to carry -- for -- explosive. They're running game like he was yeah there's been an extra times in the past two seasons and -- I think she's just strikes he's got more. But leadership now I think he's got more worse player. He's grown up a little bit yeah it's it's -- for all rookies so he's and I. He's been and how little bit this year and and he's really find his rhythm now so important -- here to do that and the weather's colder and more challenging -- throw the ball. Especially with the threats I think that we have on the outside of the field are you really take advantage warning. We get those one on one matchup again."
[1:11:34]" Tell us generally are helping finally passed -- moment you allowed yourself. But maybe they."
[1:11:42]" But I think it comes up throughout the entire offseason every time year here. He's been about the season before that's -- you really have to go on the nice part is once the season starts in training camp starts and Williams -- regular season you kind of put your focus on where it needs to be which -- part of your face and hopefully we learned some valuable lessons from that game last year. Because -- AFC championship game -- seven years ago. There's players could have been a part of a lot of those chains can. I try to use what we've learned in the past wins or losses to heart damage but that's going to -- very -- or plan. -- and they're very credible info -- relax eight weeks of the season so. We gotta play our best game it's supposed to be. I think any time the -- whether it's -- I'm just fortunate that we practiced and did you said. And warmer as -- more an action gloves and it's shirts and closing long Johns stuff like that strategy dress warm and you didn't feel a little more mentally tough and whether good. -- opponent on -- Sunday is. San Diego there's not the weather and about the referees and that's tough crowd at the San Diego and that's the only thing we can't really control is our preparation and the weather is what it is and it is for both teams and a I think we've come to expect that late in the season with the with cold weather conditions them. -- flew -- long enough where it's not much of a factor which had to our team and play our best against a great defense."
[1:13:30]" really confident -- yours. Have you exceeded even your most high expectations for yourself."
[1:13:40]" I think he shares are very different and this year is very different than the previous years. I've been here yeah. -- are -- and great teams since I didn't hear him great coaching and and it's a way to receivers have played this year and the way the offensive line has played him as quarterback. It's great we just have to worry about you are that over and over I just got to do my job to drop back and -- you guys throw home and I know that -- guys were on -- going to protect from the other receivers are going to get open and there. Running backs will cheaper than manageable down and this isn't on early downs we normally get to third downs and -- going to throw. That's knowledge of stern twelve all day so. Got great confidence in the players around me and and I know we have confidence is an offense that we can score points. He's very talented defense though we're going to face they got forty turnovers and he deserves -- five in the playoffs to fourteen points a game in the last eight weeks and they're undefeated and Thanksgiving Day got twenty sacks Richard Merriman and Phillips and 42 sex -- team. Number want to turnover differential so. They're very healthy you know on defense got everybody there -- get depth at corner it commercial faster -- linebackers -- athletic and powerful style one of us and those cars and football. This defense will challenge morning defense we've faced all year. It's very different team and we played well personally to you know -- the replay does well this weekend only we're I think we're going to be able to answer this round of purposeful."
[1:15:20]" It's you -- tomorrow I'll be --"
[1:15:36]" I think he strikes out more opportunity and I think he's got the ball more I think there's then. Chances for him -- We're a few weeks there without any tight -- so you try to draw a bunch of plays with no tight ends from her and the ball is stiff challenge in -- She's got much more an opportunity now when you have a trying to in the game and you kept -- your whole menu of runs. He's taken advantage of that solution may make a lot of guys miss you you run with power he's -- the -- he's right he's got. He's always a very very good vision. So he's been a huge help this offense in the past class after he's anyways early in the year right now I think he's especially. Didn't -- touches that we all wanted to get. -- been awesome."
[1:16:29]" Yeah and every time and then there is making plays into touchdowns last week. Yeah he's he's one of those guys has been in and out for the last half a year and a hurt his ankle early in the season against Dallas and even fight -- and yeah. Again and Pittsburgh so he's found a way he's very mentally tough player in the and I think usual on the offenses. It's what you make a -- and he's. When he stepped in and make plays he does it's dangerous player is dangerous. Because he's got speed to run -- most linebackers he's got enough power -- to run to more defense -- and I think that's. You create mismatch that the tight end position towards the middle of the field like that whenever Randy and -- And -- on the outside. You need those inside players a compliment them then certainly doesn't want those two so it's a good Shannon -- there."
[1:17:22]" It's been the last."
[1:17:29]" Yeah iShares but I cheers divisional game that was so -- our -- got fired a volley or for like three yard gains. It was one series in India. For the first half it. We've completed three balls getting like eight yards. Every yard trying to write a book and I imagine yards. I thought early in the year it was we we executed it better better against them but it makes it very dynamic pass rushing team and I think all these guys -- there. Blitz half of the place. -- Courtney says it's hard to figure out where they're coming from an Irish say he's an Irish you know all the linebackers are good -- zone. Maybe they do bunch of things defensively that challenge you. That we need at -- we preparation talked about it last want to let them takeover. Just -- life. Yeah yeah there. They're great crew but I think -- thing that's been so important that it addresses these in his safe and healthy and they've played each game cold fan -- and I have been there and he's been healthier in Phoenix and a great job. They're great depth and great coaching -- From the longer -- together the more they communicate ultimately I think they're the better that's that's where you find a better unit. Throughout the league that he's going to guys -- are together. Two the -- stand up -- hotels between that we face. It's an extra I did kill welfare. So thanks guys great."
[1:19:16]" Patriots quarterback Tom Brady earlier today at Gillette stadium in regards to some of the things that Tom was talking about I'm -- lead with two numbers to numbers that are really think. Sort of just hammer home what kind of influence he his head and what kind of influenced this offense has had on the overall scheme of things in this. Season the patriots have had this war. First number is fifteen. -- what you to a major friends were on the water cooler your coworkers or water with a 915 that's the first number -- remember. That's the percentage of the time 15% of the time the the patriots offense went three and outs this season. You know that that's the lowest total obviously been into that team this year they had 263 and out drives and a 167 offensive series. It's just a fraction over 15% of the time so that's one number what you remember. When it comes to three and out -- just don't do it all that often the other number what you remember is 41. 4115 and 41. 41 signifies the number of ten play drives but the patriots hall of fans had this season."
[1:20:30]" Clearly the highest total of any team in the NFL. Indianapolis New Orleans and Philadelphia by the -- tied for second with 3310 point they had 41 drives on ten plays. Or more this season."
[1:20:45]" So that's sort of the the Frick and the track you know before the -- that's you know one extreme and the other. They don't give the ball a lot and when they do haven't they general -- keep it. For a long time. That's those are just absolutely dominating numbers. And it just adds to the legacy that this that this football team especially on the offensive side of the ball is beginning to create for itself are -- sound. Let's go back to some of the emails this one com news from Jack and Boston. And we got reaction now beginning to come in on the you know Randy Moss story today. He says it's amazing that these things seem to happen right before playoff games Super Bowls World Series games etcetera etcetera. Says I think the smart thing moss did in the situation -- openly claimed that they approached him with the ultimatum pay up or will go public. This is not the act of a victim if the -- of -- opportunistic and well -- unfortunately they may have some effect on moss is performance not much but some. I -- the coaches and his teammates can keep them focused -- optimistic that he was still rock Gillette stadium. That's from Jack in Boston we're pleased to be joined now."
[1:21:56]" I gentleman who will also be. In Gillette stadium and who knows maybe rocket himself Phil Simms from CBS joining us here inside the playbook thanks for the time -- we appreciate it."
[1:22:06]" go to talked reality very excellent excellent thanks again that's -- you're talking about the Randy Moss story today. Well I didn't think yet."
[1:22:16]" The other story is that there is a former acquaintance of his -- female acquaintance of his in Florida Broward county Florida. Who willow put out a -- restraining order against him alleging that he committed battery. And so what they basically are saying now is that at least this is from Randy and his attorneys at this point in time basically saying that that they were gonna go public with a story -- he came up with a six figures settlement. I talked extortion. And that's what came out today and Randy went. The all the you know circles -- everybody else and said the others. You know absolutely nothing to however you know he never laid a hand anybody this is a former friend that he is in in. Obviously the situation going to play itself out but our -- I've been well do you think that this can be a distraction for a team that has really -- at a cottage industry to avoid distraction."
[1:23:08]" Yeah let's of that beat out right away it would be a resounding absolutely -- It will not being. And it I doubt it would be. That's for those situations it would be be talked about that much in the locker room so I can't imagine that would be a distraction to New England Patriots."
[1:23:26]" I'm glad that you actually brought up a comment on that -- because obviously you're having played for a number of years at a very high calibre you've been a Super Bowl situations. I mean how did you guys handle at your locker room in the giants -- something like that come up."
[1:23:38]" Yeah I say of course I can't remember anything rule specific that way put. I think a lot of conflict comes to real personal business like that it's just not talked about a lot in I think players though there's you know don't get involved that sovereignty all the facts and and it's so if -- have some that do that was directly about football what somebody's said this about the other team all that that it becomes a little bit about. Chatter among that among teammates but I get a -- a story like this but all the major players sit around talking about a -- also is back."
[1:24:15]" Yeah I can't imagine that would be happening either but it would be very. Out of character for -- these guys they pretty much allow people it wouldn't have their own business and I think people understand that athletes especially football players in this particular instance our public figures and you know you have to choose your friends very carefully and sometimes you just can't choose the best ones."
[1:24:34]" Well -- It's it's that the week at a time in our society gets beyond that and it's it's it's they'd live you know it's amazing the things that I thought happened but I played. Where players and got the squabbles with whoever normal people on the outside my god should they would be. Kicked out the NFL now. In and take in the court and salute it and use that something that may pay is goal that system that's so the world we live -- now. And players. Does -- have to be careful is an understatement. You know the NFL probably given that speech before that. Seated you know they'll be careful where you go who you hang out where all the -- about ten minutes speech but I eligibility based probably three hours they'll."
[1:25:23]" Well that's why they have the whole rookie -- orientation now."
[1:25:27]" Everything that you thought better security give every year. -- got to listen to it needs that during the all like guys one more oh you don't want me to hang out with known gamblers well he. Okay oh and don't carry arms -- offended this ever occurred to me not to look at all cut all people break rolls all the bad blood. So that they just warned you about every single so there all the can come up. And their inlets and that list of things not to do for athletes. It is going to keep getting bigger."
[1:25:58]" It's unfortunate. -- let's talk a little football and football are yet none at all that's fine I'd I had to ask your question because obviously it's at the top of the of the headlines just about everywhere today. Do you get the sense that this all of a sudden mutual admiration society between. These two sides you know the players try to be very careful if you can look past what Igor Olshansky is already had to say you get the sense that these are just guys being really nice. To each other because I don't really think these two teams like each other percent."
[1:26:26]" Well -- In sports I've never played a team a light in my history the result of Gordon is that they just kinda. -- to keep. Double that chatter. Worth the media doesn't committing go all what about this story and what about what he said. You know just all bad knuckle -- stuff that you just don't want to deal with so just keep that -- and make. And not just talk about the game and talk about what I saw -- stuff that's so much better and this day and age. It's funny. I just got off a conference call. That's talked about the drive -- you know a lot of writer called the bench players sesame yeah well I think I'm hearing you properly. Or -- really trying to say is that the people think the dry coaches have done a good job in that I ago. Well I'd never insinuated that it never crossed my mind that that's what I was thinking. But so. Well my answer is they just interpret your words they rebuilt they separate -- any if you go through. A player out single couple weeks without they have some ball boy you -- that are record but that it stated there really is it's a new day and age."
[1:27:43]" Yeah it really is. So these guys making nice now. How how critical do you think having a relatively healthy Ladainian Tomlinson of Philip Rivers would be for San Diego they have some measure success."
[1:27:56]" Well it'll first look to other bacon nice double think I still don't think we're going to see a game a touch football this weekend I don't think it -- really go after it though that everything. If I let them. Of course when you talk about. -- great players. And you know you almost have to say he's said that he's got open to that area greatness. That not happening with the diversity team no matter how good your back a bit. Because you're backed up really good because he's only called upon big table -- ten times a game. Never Ladainian that the goal this year after Michael turner that they -- the ball. Maybe 25 to thirty times a game but he still will be the same guy I don't know so it that's all fact. -- big goal of course. And what liberally because. I don't look at putting more pressure on the players that put more pressure on the coaches to come up with ways. Defiant the yards in other words another way to get. Those 120 yards. The Ladainian outlook to get to per game by a run -- catching. How you gonna get that same production well it is yet to be a little more -- played -- that in your play calling."
[1:29:10]" No doubt. No doubt I also think in fact we spoke with them. Kevin AC from the San Diego union Tribune earlier in the program he said. That he thought Chris chambers addition to this team. -- more than any single move that Norv Turner might have made this season once he joined the team after that trade from Miami and so having him. As an addition this team opening things up still make San Diego with threat. Regardless of who knows who's helping and who's not."
[1:29:38]" Well you know it's it's there's no -- Chris chambers -- got a mature. -- all the NFL player wide receiver. Anytime we take that his team along with Antonio -- Ladainian Tomlinson. And he you know that's that's that's going to help let me you know I'll always -- the big fear that this injections. The wide receiver out there in our thinking is really get that. Do you play -- together that all the way to get it done and that they showed judicial that's. I did the Tennessee game the first round play also wild card and it really Antonio Gates about factor last week that they they have other avenues to go to and they choose any case but. We missed our players are there. That's sort of football goes so whatever little find out about those other. Secondary and third -- players because bull why you gotta do that was just keep giving it to the stars. Or make the plays that are extremely productive what we have found out this video chargers got a lot of talent they're pretty pretty."
[1:30:44]" they do they have a lot of talent and they are definitely -- Phil -- with -- here to be along with Jim Nantz the CBS telecast of the the chargers and patriots -- Sunday afternoon 3 PM eastern time on your Gillette stadium arm fell. Are you of the opinion that the patriots can lose this game."
[1:31:03]" The dollar -- on the game. I'm not a big winner loose thing but I do games Saturday in fact I've never talk about that."
[1:31:11]" It from this perspective that okay because clearly the patriots our own on a roll there on -- every want to -- and that's fair and but you've played the game and so in that regard based on your knowledge of the team in your own background and knowing what you know of the other teams as well. Do the patriots have to lose it more so than the chargers can win. Oh."
[1:31:39]" And I kid again I can't say that John you know people. That New England Patriots are not going to go out there and -- of football over. And you can't say all they just gave it away. He got about one of those guys -- every hear me say that on the telecast. I don't think in my whole career goal well at all about the turnovers and whoever it wouldn't put all the all the Olympic game. You know are okay while that was great but those great bell -- you know. Go -- tickets they get my hand. Capitalism -- bad well you know. I've -- turnovers. This takeaways. You know what if Tom Brady throws an interception -- didn't give it till they took it. They're going to country they're going to hitting that you're going to get it into it full before he's ready the course going to make a good play and take it from the wide receiver it's going to be more about saving it'll get that done. That the patriots. Given at all. So that's how you all that turnover and although itself well he just won the turnover belly when they get -- of though. All while humility. Yeah immediately score more points and that we can win you win a hole if we want -- 37 times that we win that one though again. -- really -- kidding. So you know it's about. It's about difficult dominant. The patriots don't live rapid run the football -- every play. They throw what. But still if that's their way of showing used that we have physical dominance followed new world block it better. That you can rush the passer and I got control and -- that you could -- you can probably stop it. And that's what it's always about so it won't be any week even told you know it's always they took it in. I can I can give yet I can do -- about every game. -- that is -- Diego chargers still a lot of bad stuff but yet in Annapolis -- probably came down to it. They talked get. Away from the colts had very opportune times and that was the difference so their playoff game and why they're in the championship game this weekend."
[1:33:50]" Absolutely what's the match up that you're looking most forward to watching take place on the field on Sunday is there one of specific yet."
[1:33:58]" Well what is the big question always a bit when you're playing the patriots -- you know I think the chargers the patriots have -- you can look at all the little. The defense hasn't just been shut down completely and it's always yes. Can you find a way to pressure the quarterback when it really can help. And I replay I don't care about first down I'm talking about. Discord opportunities -- a third whatever can you give -- the -- Kenya pressure. Tom Brady when they celts and nobody has shown to do that that they can do that. And that's why I guess that's why CV eight award last week is they pressured -- at the right time. And he made -- mistake. Anybody could complete the passes but it'll also football -- the difference in that game can they do it again this week that's that's. My number one. Priority or number one's probably game what they. And suddenly airmen and Chauncey Billups said overall was evolved can they get the thought Brady losses against what to publicity -- they they get that done."
[1:35:12]" Yeah that's on the that I kind of thought about this week as well because based on week two's game and obviously there's not a tremendous amount you can carry."
[1:35:21]" go and throw away right. It means nothing. He needs of the team very relaxing in the same deep sense right there docket and -- the giggle is not going to play in the same -- absolutely. It has so that there's going to be a tremendous change in strategy and personnel. But this game so -- the -- while they have a new wave get that done there ever short -- of those plays so what does say that I answer."
[1:35:48]" Right and you know that's that's why -- was going with Ted Cottrell in particular because they decided that they weren't going to pressure brewers Brady is much back a week -- we obviously know what happened. You don't want to play with found money and I really kind of feel like San Diego's doing that this weekend nobody expected him to beat Indianapolis last week. And so to that end. This is sort of a bonus and so when you -- with house money -- tend to go for broke you -- let's go all the way with this thing don't you."
[1:36:16]" It's a good -- you know taught this but to -- what nobody in the in nobody ever approach is that way. And it if that's a thought then why they're in Jacksonville. Go without approach why did they just simply the pockets on the defensive side that the New England Patriots."
[1:36:34]" I think teams are scared to do that -- While they're scared to do that."
[1:36:38]" They are scared saw the good word there is they were basic just think if they do it. It lessens their chances of winning the game but it's just there. And so. Is that the San Diego Chargers. Are not going to have this well okay air -- likely -- but says do -- what they have you know. Are you know that's not going to be that they're going to be calculating. There have the deep thoughts in a lot of ways that they hold that in ways to manage in the team a coach in the game. They're very given the chance and it won't ever be like. What the heck. Or not also be here less -- felt that double never -- thought process. I'm the editor mine would not be part of the game and we will not seen that on Sunday."
[1:37:30]" One has been the most impressive aspect that you. Of this holes seventeen you know run to this point in time for the patriots what is really stop you would your tracks and you sit while."
[1:37:41]" These have been tough well yeah absolutely -- the big -- in the NFL about coaching. And the best coaches -- win more than the other guys. And Bill Belichick went more than most did that the -- coach settled their ability and I think he's the best coach he has proven that. He's developed -- system. In New England that is second to none of the organization he's been part of all course with Bob Kraft. And there acquired a player I think that is some my goal while about all the time. And you know as well start in I don't look -- Tom Brady Tom Brady. I I'd look at all the surrounding things that happen to make Tom Brady into what we perceived the big. And -- is thought Tom Brady are no different this year than they were a lot this year. You know -- I didn't double single all are you a better quarterback reality has been in the past I don't believe that's probably be just -- Different players a different offense more opportunities and the so that it showed the statistics and but the fact that they've -- undefeated. And they had this season so far to where they are that make me go wow. But I know emotionally and physically hard to always be up there and of course they work during the season. But they always found a way to win -- and they they hung in there and even when they had they worthy of playing near their best. And the agenda wasn't the same for them as a -- airplane against the -- still -- weight but to me that's big tent stuff."
[1:39:29]" Does this team have to win not only this game Sunday but certainly the Super Bowl a couple of weeks. In order your estimation to be considered the greatest team of all time."
[1:39:38]" Oh absolutely a RT I should I can't even think -- even. Some -- that would just answered the opposite to say that I can't imagine that person saying they don't have to win in they got to win and where the day -- age. You know you -- Albania everything. -- probably go over the loss is typical nineteen you know all -- take two seconds before somebody obviously they go well well a lot -- billion venture far relatively earlier hill. They wait to hear that guy. You know you don't mean of course -- sarcastic line -- it was over the top which you go about they have this year. They -- eleven nets are aware now but the validate anything. To say -- the got to win championships and its it is the you know. Doing your best and have a tremendous season and bill and bill whatever that's not good enough anymore for the American public with a sportswriter whoever. We got to have -- for the borer greatness. Think all nineteen of so well but that's about course that border whoever yet."
[1:40:49]" With the tend to agree with Phil thanks for spending a couple of minutes with -- today will look forward to up. Busy with -- bit on Sunday it was total -- the broadcast as well at least for those of us that wouldn't be working I'll be working but that's okay will be releasing him replay anyway."
[1:41:04]" Like double -- that a lot of fight property if they kill it and it was fun but by the paid a lot of fun governor this year gotta admit. Outlook -- so this big fear on the loss column has really been. Is that something else 22 witnessed it has been boring as they have added no. It's never boring because it's like the finale of although. Showed you see on TV we can't wait to see the end and you can't wait to watch the patriots several week because you know they have little false. And everybody wants to know is this the week so it's that that's been very. Very intriguing."
[1:41:40]" The television rating numbers are bearing that point out and try and -- thing a solid AB yeah and you've got that as much do you bet. Phil Simms former giants quarterback and of course part of the CBS television broadcast crew we'll have the game here on Sunday with a Jim -- 3 PM eastern time kick off on CBS television great to have a chance to visit with him after going to the national conference call almost a beat writers they're talking about the games coming up this week in about the AFC and the NFC championship -- so very very cool. But he gets -- at a time with us and in with you especially year. He said patriots -- lets them do this that a couple of emails I want to get -- on the Randy Moss toward today and then we're going to wrap up our program with Bill Belichick today forties so we get the latest from the coach and self I wanted to shared this though -- this one comes from or her friend. -- in germantown Maryland says well John I'm isn't formed as I can be on the Randy Moss battery charge situation. In his Andy Hart says and Randy is acknowledging and bringing forth what he knows and doesn't over the media totally think he's being screwed for money but as well. As to how it may affect the patriots -- don't think any of the players will be affected by this general field. Because they'll have a task at hand that is to win a game and go on to the super ball. They were at this point last year I think he would be too big of a let down the little let anything settle for anything less than a fourth suitable. And as Randy Moss individually Randy is truly a very emotional player it may affect his game a little. I -- but doesn't. I know we channels his anger emotion by playing extra hard on Sunday. But the situation enters his play well I think Stallworth Welker Gaffney Watson -- Maroney they can all pick up the slack not to mention we still have Troy brown and Chad Jackson. I don't know Randy will be mentally back in it by the time the Super Bowl rolls around as a patriot fan and someone truly believes Randy Moss. Com and just updated or two ago I hope he realizes patriot nation loves him in which is in the best. In coming out of this particular best. I think president probably says it very very well four a lot of people. Lotta people. Aren't track but I thank you for all of your emails and all your thoughts and questions. I chose that one in particular because a lot of the questions that were coming in had to do pretty much around that and -- pretty much the same things so -- got to be the spokesman for all of you but. Please now. We Roger emails IQ and keep them come. Mike thanks to a Phil Simms and to Kevin AC the San Diego union Tribune for joining us and said the play book today -- wrap it up here to dictate the very least -- patriots head coach Bill Belichick."
[1:44:17]" It helped absolutely enjoy yourself on the club."
[1:44:23]" I don't hear from injuries and I'm and I loved him all about it remarks -- I think every every hour 53 players at them. Definitely he can't do their job they can't do his job -- it's. Did you ever do our job and and try to do well that goes for every player every coach and coach trainer. Everybody else is our position we try to maximize our performance -- and a great football team. And and that includes everybody -- junior and you know he's got a great leadership and experience on him I think -- will recognize them. Yeah everyone was a job to do nobody can do anybody else's -- I don't think you'll make too much -- it you know. But it hurt for the people's jobs -- a little thing or what. Both hit no doubt about it I think it is an outstanding hero last year -- them. Announced earlier this season but the team. Coming out there and then that are really good job if you want Ronnie was album and you know running came back and then he was out again and engineers or form again and days. -- Asia for this year all the way through and -- with a -- regular I think he's improved tremendously as a player in the last. Couple years he works very hard and nobody nobody works harder is more conscientious and studies and harder than James Sanders is it true pro. It's -- young player. He's healthy -- a lot of into the game it's really important stolen from his normal handle players and in any situation on the field special teams the fans preparations. Practiced it doesn't he's he's really he's going to he's a pleasure to coach. -- attractive -- they -- try to -- yeah. -- like you got -- comfortable violence Bob and they try to formation is obviously the other spotter. Move the tight end or similar move around you have to get an uncomfortable positions in the end. You know -- the most hasn't really both both guys have to build up the -- those responsibilities."

[1:55:09]" They're relatively. Phillies seeing a lot of great -- coach -- how much how much does go to America they benefited from my --"
[1:55:20]" But what -- and you have to perimeter players what whatever they play whether it's outside linebackers -- wide receivers to -- a tight -- the only thing all they'd -- formation and pretty you know heavily Holden where the other you know -- don't and his days. We had a situation there. You know Mark Taylor it was -- away from him until -- Carl banks or England will always vidro away from Taylor and -- the things early from banks and Taylor. Again kind of thing you know closer to corners -- two linebackers are it's who receivers is an additional I want them sometimes it.
