[1:20:22] ..." played in Super Bowl there's a couple of guys. On -- public Adalius Thomas who was with the ravens Super Bowl 35 but he was inactive you know Roosevelt Colvin who played and won the Super"...
[0:00]" There was no guns no Tampa without golf I -- quiet. Did anyone hear this is patriots playbook because back up combat on the fifth day on here briefly when. Breaking down last Sundays game for man coverage. When things get credit for the great. Right at the rest of the 2000 NFL. And some of the points stuff in between now feelings John -- On patriots. I think this is what I love."
[0:49]" What I love about this this high class. Scott not anyone production around here a pop up off a we're in the studio here -- I take hearings computer yesterday for those that don't know. Gary's computer went on the free side we have really like no email communication or anything. Was anybody which is really bad wave for a guy who's in his position I mean you know they didn't somebody in here that."
[1:12]" Nobody thinks he has the time like a temporary little home set up with a laptop and legend. We're still what you actually do -- some of these emails and make sure that that we don't keep reading the same emails over again from -- coming here and work on this computer. So -- actually taking care emails out. And here we are. We commuted said the playbook four road Thursday right here on patriots dot com radio my name is John rook this is our final program of the day. So final program with the year. It is unfortunately next week as we -- mentioned throughout the course the week. Hum the appeal of W guys in the patriots today folks are they will be hearing you right on through Europe patriots dot com and hatred dot com radio and -- those that have been around for this season we thank you for your support. Glad that you with a 41 last day on the program today and so we certainly want to hear from you web radio at. Patriots dot com is it's okay for -- lecture series left. Things all over. But you just love how radio works -- big time this is just freaking. It I've added a lot worse than our -- is believe me so here's the group today on that we will check in with Russell Baxter. From mom ESPN and the research coordinator coming up a bit. Com probably run about the couple or 3 o'clock hour today. And we'll get to some of the issues at hand surrounding the actual game it help of Super Bowl 42. A bomb but because this is our final program for the season because again we won't be with you next week from Mark from Arizona will have the PFW staff and their program on for you as as for the Norman and of course the week after you go to the off season mode of just one day a week and how -- gonna survive without is beyond me but if there are some general observations that you path. Of this 2007 football season. If you have something you've always wanted to ask or something that you've always wanted to write or something that you just wanted to say and you've never had a chance say. Either on a radio show were to meet personally order the patriots it large or whatever it may be today's today. Because I will read every email that comes across today. Wanted to leave the time available that if you take the times and the email and there emotion we actually do real -- Right and most most the time we do pretty good job of it you know if you're taking the time -- We'll take that time to read on rare instances do we not get the chance to go through every email. But you're gonna take the time right we generally try to shirt in and besides many of you. The overwhelming majority of you have vote pertinent things to say have good football topic to discuss actually has some pretty good insight as to your take -- why things are the way they are whether it's with the patriots or an upcoming the order or what have you but tonight is the last shot because we won't be able to come back to you at least inside the playbook program until next September. Sounds like a long way away isn't it. Trying to -- like seven and a half -- problem -- we come back -- next -- of the patriots play -- In that regard to it'll be awhile before we get a chance to visit again. Of you have some questions of yes and comments concerns criticisms may -- ways that you would like to see the goal that the show go in the future. What Everett may be. -- sky's the limit today. Fire off an email let's hear from me today so we'll have a chance -- more -- web radio -- Patriots dot com 585437482 his telephone number there are. A couple of announcements that would like to make off the top of the program I don't know I have the guys before and talked about this. Or not but for those of you who are in the area the relatively New England okay certainly saw the -- of New England area who would be listening to the program today. On Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick is going to sponsor a send -- celebration here at the stadium this next Sunday morning 10 AM. Right here at Gillette. Pretty sure has probably been put up on the website salary but if not we're telling you now all patriots fans are invited to see the team off. All prior to their departure for Arizona the entire team will be here. Coach Bill Belichick owner Bob Doyle Robert Kraft will be here. Our fans who will be allowed all under the stadium grounds it's free open to the public. There will be no charge that would free means parking at Gillette stadium also free the parking lots and gates will open at 9 AM. For the 10 AM and now as I recall. The last time we did this years ago they didn't physically do this and all the inside the stadium this was autumn staging. That was actually out on the parking -- grounds and I believe that is going to be the case again for the -- the was going to be -- the any it will be in -- thank -- that well as public as we have so much construction -- Okay so the gates open at 9 o'clock Sunday morning. You be allowed inside the stadium. The end all will begin at 10 AM. And then while on the table -- Arizona. So -- that this Sunday. January the 2710 AM parking lots open at 93 and open to anybody -- coach marriage sponsored by. Governor Patrick Massachusetts while the Kraft family's a coach Belichick and of course the AFC champion. New England Patriots. You're in the area you want to -- you don't normally get the chance to a come to a game. Or you want to bring the kids out the team before they go to the Super Bowl this is pure. Opportunity let's coming up on board okay bomb that second look a little bit more at. The on. The matchups for this game by the way I noticed that in right before week. We left you or right before the U of W guys left it ESPN had put up that ranking of the players from one 206 or whatever it was all fifty players from both rosters from best to work which relate. Frankly kind of stupid mean you know really -- doesn't really matter beyond like top six or seven I mean everybody else's. It is natural player. This is unfortunately what you get when you have to my eye on your hands between games. You get silly things get doping things -- goofy things like list. Like ESPN is -- dot com is doing today ranking the players from 1216. I mean frankly number one knows it. Is -- Okay then but now you know we he made the roster but I mean come does that really matter. I mean does that really matter and how would you put a patriot player over a giants player. Did the giants -- thirteen in six or I mean come on the state should we even have to consider this it's dom but it Kitna. And now. Matt Gutierrez was ranked 14 on this. Yeah he's shown little today why why do you think -- and you're going to rank him behind it I don't know. Somewhat like Anthony Wright of the giants. I realize he's probably a little bit more playing time how about a -- rank him behind Jared Lorenzo. -- you're going to rank him behind the oh I mean c'mon. If it's okay only when unity more credibility all right I'm just saying here that they this is what you get when you have. I'm on your hands. Brady was ranked number one moss is right number two is Gary mentioned to us earlier. Funny just funny we talked yesterday a little bit about -- parking and and -- target and obviously was -- the giants and cornerback for the vikings and obviously he's gone on record I think already is saying on ESPN radio earlier today that. He -- New York win and that's all fine and has. I heard earlier today Adam's show after who's been on this program before during the course this season from NFL network and he was on WEEI in Boston earlier today and and I he made some rather impassioned arguments for. Favoring momentum. To the giants. And frankly I totally understand it I totally I don't disagree with. But one thing that you're going to have to kinda like take -- consideration because I've also heard what you callers today. I'm local talk shows around here -- pictures are beginning it to get this for expected. Specifically by Ian Ian. Personal he has been is in the business of 24 hours a day seven days a week -- of information and or infotainment. Notice that it entertainment infotainment. -- to you to keep you coming back for more and what you mean they can't just read regurgitate recycle the same crap they beat you every day. They're going to come up with a new and interesting crap. Defeat -- today and tomorrow when the next. And so that's what they're doing here. They're tweaking your note. They're pulling you up next to them they given you a little -- you don't gentle nudge in the ribs in the their opinion noses what they're -- the tweaking. The -- of the to get a rise out of you that's what ESPN and that's what all these. You know Sports Radio stations do they they do it just to -- you to react so you know I think you just have to kind of you have to -- just a little over this course this is a much an exercise in patience for frames. As it is for the players and the coaches and the people who will actually be involved in playing this game on February 3. It's an exercise in poise. And in patient. Because you're going to read today I mean like for instance this up the list from 1200 and -- I mean please. Crazy yeah you're -- she's a -- just like that tomorrow. And you're -- he's a little different the next. And southern hills there for the next day. And you know it's gonna go on and on the -- open up the New York papers and going to see some player come off about the patriots again and it's it's gonna it's gonna come on you you can set your watch by it so predictable."
[12:31]" Well our name."
[12:32]" He would need to have things to talk about over the course of these. Very well today and I did not mention this earlier this week I think it. That this is going to be one of the worst two week period that you been in this calendar year. Waiting not only anticipating this football game but it would just because these two teams just got through playing each other. It's like I've -- a rematch with a divisional opponent you'll Marty know what they can't. Or they can't do it -- tweak things a little bit here and there but by and large if you are going to be pretty much going up against same team yes all month ago or less. Today it's economy that we hurry up and play this game. All right we know it already seen it or Green Bay the one thing that would have been about Green Bay is that yeah we would have been in in. Totally inundated with the Brett -- of love story you know stories but at the very least you know the patriots have a Green Bay this year. Oh we would have a chance to -- open on the roster and look at matchups and think about well. You know I haven't really consider that does that -- these guys play that much well we've seen the giants like they beat green -- of them that should pitcher attention. They're better than greenback stands to reason that the giants will give the patriots a better game than green they want more than Dallas would have at this stage of the these. No doubt about. But will it make it any better any different than what we on December the twentieth I don't know I -- I don't know. And I guess that's really the only mean. And that's really the only thing that kind of it's out there that can like well you know I guess we gotta wait -- to kind of play the game here. But it's just you're going to continues -- stories like this come up opened -- file it and just remember what I told you just liberal -- at soldier in know what you you know. -- what you're going to be and what you're going to continue to see and what they're going to talk about next week from Arizona when -- you know when you log on here and you want to hear what to Fred the POW guys are talking about every talking about a lot of stories that are in the newspapers out there and that are in the national papers as well. And they're going to be talking about you know their own you know agenda as well which is of the they're supposed to be doing but the going to talk about what you want to talk about. Are we talking about the hot news as well as the stories within the store and if there are rumors floating around Wheldon by god you know they're going to talk about because that's what we do. We talk about. So I. I suppose that film you know I can understand why fan might tendon on to beat. -- I don't know somewhat. Perturbed or disappointed or and Arnold but I give me stronger word than that over you know. And news entity. Giving the patriots they've been apparent lack of respect I just you know honestly -- Don't read anything into the all they're doing is they're -- they're playing the role of contrary. I don't know how you cannot give the team eighteen you know respect I don't know how you can take respect away from I don't know how that happens. I mean you know fact is is time magazine. And recently the -- the London times recently. Com and mpeg Vick -- you're going to telecom wrote about this week put. Stories in their -- in their publications about the patriots. So I mean if you're if you're going to have. Publications like that. Talk about the New England Patriots whether you know -- love hate type of thing with the patriots right now because of what -- what's going on this season and -- frankly I mean how does then and respect. -- number. They're going to be out those other though that all they want to do is they want you to click on other side of that what you read -- newspaper -- what you listen to what they have to say is they're going to say something. Or right of the relatively. He and outlandish. Like you know. We'll be if that would that's a job if they liked the write or say things that are outlandish and yet you keep keep coming back for more -- the go they're all good guys they weren't good guy who beat. Be easier to get away they have like them with a rocket guys I yam what I am and that's all that I game that's right. Thank you so you -- web radio at patriots dot com that's our email addressed. Final 85 point 37482 that we determined then how many emails are left here we know what group is with which one's got the I think we now okay well a lot of these though what he's a left over from yesterday. Thanks -- he's looking forty issues with Jane Rochester thank you very much for sending email and I appreciate -- appreciate you were downloading the podcast. And listing the program when he came from time to time India the plan is to be back again next September when the next -- play book rolls around will be year eight next year happy to do it it's a lot of fun I love talking first of all love talking with mobile true football thing. Number one number two. I get particularly enjoyment out of doing the show. With you guys because first of all I've been a football -- my whole life I grew up in a football mad state and Texas and I would've played football and for as long as. I could have except for the fact that I I was one of those they hit puberty late. And though you know I was already getting crushed by the time I would parade by Mike but my classmates and that's why economic regulated on the basketball because like always had to jump shot. But you know tackling in the open field was not what my strong suit because it couldn't catch up with the guys love to apply. Usually love to play the courses I got older and they caught up with my classmates in on we played a lot of football you know and in high school and college -- the like -- never played varsity. -- level but the loved the sport always have of the sport and will continue to love the sport I've made most of my living writing and we're talking about the sport. -- al in Kuwait who had him in an email yesterday John thanks for reading my emails. In case you're curious we enjoy free Internet access here we cannot access live webcast live with video. We can listen to archives however it's about what I do in terms of your program and the equally fine he says U of W progress shall. In any case it seems I'm always trying to play catch up the subject -- al. Do not ever apologize. I think you can take the time to download the podcast and listen to download the podcast now just like -- tells you to do. And that's why we brought it to unit podcast form this year for the whole season for the first time. Honestly you could have that opportunity and and believe you -- if you are listening on a podcast. And you're listening to it after authority aired live here on the website when you send an email just indicate that. You know the vestiges remain you know you're going to -- to the web radio address just say you know for John -- for playbook for whatever you know that's fine. We keep all the emails here like -- that we read them. Some of the more thoroughly than others. And the overwhelming majority would actually do as I said he'd on the mayor here. Because that's what they shall -- it is a give and take between my health in the POW guys who cover football. And cover this team for you as best as we possibly can't and we give you our opinions. On the news that you know that creates stories in around this football team in and around the National Football League. And that we want you to -- you know what we think and our opinions and we want to hear what you opinions -- it's it's it's give -- take it doesn't work of it just does it year. Given -- stuff. You need to -- of the pack in return -- you want this to be true you know back and forth exchange of -- viewpoints and ideas and opinions. Now works right. -- don't ever apologize for a listening late. He hasn't heard of yesterday's topic which had been up for discussion on your programs Super Bowl always be symbolized -- me but the Joan name -- joyfully waving his number one index finger suitable for. I've always loved the patriots of course the Joe -- white shoes almost always clearly communicate Super Bowl to me. -- I could not agree more. The question of the day yesterday was you know when you think of the term Super Bowl what is the defining moment that pop into your it. What the picture what the enduring picture. They just pops in your brain the first time you hear. The word. With a phrase Super Bowl and to me. There well the first one was unfortunately -- O'Brien's kick good in -- rule five as the cowboys went down to defeat the Baltimore colts like cried like a baby I was. All night. And I think eleven maybe younger than my younger son is right now currently maybe arm."
[31:06]" Remember are like dead -- my dad got me I was -- Because my beloved cowboys had just been beaten. I don't -- go sixteen to thirteen David Baltimore colts. I was crying and he was laughing I guess it was because he was finally realizing how seriously. I took. The game."
[31:29]" Only my dad's laughing -- you -- some forty acres later almost that is want to do froehlich oh yeah. Exactly anyway but the other enduring memory that I have is Joe Willie wagging that finger now. As a may have a fan I couldn't wait for an AFL team to be good enough challenge an NFL team in the big game. It's ironic because name it had been just in the bomb on a New York team when he lined up against the pats and AFL game until Super Bowl three. Like most fans of the pats always hated the guy but of course when he -- the jets play the colts many of us Boston fans held our noses -- rooted like hell for the name -- And that. Well of course Oden announces he signs off as he always does OT ideas now. In al Lowe got speed they knife is now I gotta admit. What name it did that day. Is that helped pro football. Get to where it is right now becoming the in my opinion the preeminent sport in the United States of America it just did justice it is overtaken baseball it is in its overtaken baseball I think can buy it by considerable amount last few years although baseball has its moments especially around -- New England in the room now like with the Red Sox want to -- 3Com. But yeah I I I I agree with that. What they did that day even though at the time if you were an NFL fan you hated it he thought it was terrible what's the world coming to an oh my goodness how could we let the of this pledging fledgling start up you know all these -- is inferior players and teams beat. But really that's what -- and obviously the -- merger. Between the F -- elements what helped the patriots get to where they are today. Who knows that it never happened if that did not happen if the jets did not beat the colts. In 69. Who knows the merger would have taken place it probably would eventually taken place but the -- in the sense of urgency number one. And I know it's harder it's hard to give them credit rating is really but number two. They might have discontinued -- monitors that this experiment. I mean every all three years the -- the NFL team has beaten the crap out of the vehicle -- what's the point in doing this again. So we might not have seen the Super Bowl become a phenomenon. That it has become if the jets had not won that game suitable. Even there's as -- quote your losses of the suddenly helpless receiver who knocked chargers president -- can steal out of the game clean block he has been it and that was in -- something from. POW it helps sometimes guys if you like he'll let us know who you're writing. Which is partly understand it to share the same stuff TG in the land of the bandwagon giants -- he says. -- the patriots dirty players -- just football players. All accusations from Hardwick nick Hardwick -- Osi Umenyiora sounds a little like winding to me. -- that the last game of the season at giants stadium the team in we're just chippy as the past. If the patriots are banging guys around there's probably a reason for there's two sides to every story it's just nice that we don't -- the patriot players side of be interesting to hear from a former player about this but it sure Hannan it would have an interesting take in some ways it's encourage. There's a good possible that we get an old fashioned rip their heads off football game if the official. I'll let you come first the ball. This kind of that goes on every football game today from the pros right -- Peewee -- you get cheap shots all the time. You hear the stories the horror stories from some guys in particular on what happens. On a pile up if -- on the bottom of the pile going after the loose football and some guy grab a year you know that's what happens."
[35:35]" It does happen from time to time guys you know I gouging or. You know pinching pulling them you know your lol drew or whatever they can grab whatever they can get Ahold of."
[35:44]" Because all's fair in love in football you always heard so you know nick Hardwick I think in I mention this and -- show. EG but. I think nick -- part of his response in calling -- more dirty player. Had to be because of the emotion of having just lost a very hard for football game."
[36:06]" You know the fact that Seymour actually took the time -- on it was picked up by several news sources yesterday is -- being one of them -- pride was a little surprised that. A little bit of a surprise alot but I mean you know -- kind of guy that doesn't like to have his his integrity challenged and rightly so. He's never given us any reason to challenge that integrity he's been very standup guy. He's been very honest guy with all of -- in studio and all of the cover the team on a daily basis and with the patriots Monday guys on the EI and -- he's just he's. He's answered everything we've ever asked them. So you know for someone to call him a dirty player when he doesn't look at himself like that is. He's going to come -- he's going to say so but I would chalk that up largely to probably frustration over having been beaten that would. I think after the a good solid. All right Dave and this one from Indianapolis guys. What the -- going on all -- freaking sports writers from Reading crap with a few days about how the giants are going to upset New England. I don't know the kinds of -- is it because of all the haters out there. Cracks and to the point I don't want to read anymore this dribble away these the -- canoes are talking the pats have already lost the game kind of pissed off. The -- seem hell bent on the ball of the patriots losing. I was the kicking game was this weekend I'm already tired of hearing about the crummy giants and -- Eli doesn't get any respect. It is that is Tom looked last week and I can only hope he comes up next we can redeem himself and play a 200%. Of the guys bring their eight plus game Arizona and crushed the giants once and for all. I want all these haters to eat there words are refused to read or listen to any or this garbage about the freaking giants and the patriots are great -- not then go. At apparently Davis already succumbed to the pressure of having 228."
[37:59]" by the way the next time I hear that I hope will be the last. -- one more time."
[38:07]" Yeah okay aren't -- a good even without that better shoot. Okay well as I suggested earlier -- I'm sure after you'd already written email the thought processes get used to -- right. Is going to happen. Everybody's on the patriot or this year. And the giants the only thing that's were talking about because they're the underdog and everybody loves the underdog -- is right about the underdog seemingly a lot of and again it's not so much that people are eating on the patriots. Fact is that they're just tweaking your notes. That's all they're doing. The try to get a rise out of you you keep reading of where you keep watching them or you'll keep listening to them until we get to the freaking game that's what their point. That's their job their job is to UN and once they have you win their job is to keep you this year. That's their job -- obvious for you to be here for the whole two hours into and you can't possibly do that most of the time."
[39:07]" Or some of the time but would -- with a -- two hours that's the beauty of the podcast now. That's the beauty. The -- yell out something that your you know your -- idea whatever may be you know you know always laws are often and pick it right back and which is great stop. I'll be out here. Normal for help people bomb anyway Gary from Syracuse. I've seen every pats game this year and one thing I've noticed with a deep means is that they are a little soft and the middle. That all the teams that they've played of all the teams that played them close jags eagles giants rated cowboys browns colts. Have been able to throw right down the middle with good success do you think I'm right this assumption and if so committed prevent the suitable. Well again David soft in the middle. For most of those games not all the the teams that you listed their Gary but I think they've been off in the middle sort of speed because the game plan is called for them to be that way most of the time -- not every time there have certainly been some instances where. And I'll have to go back through my -- my note here's a look at specific instances put the there have been times where they have not played for the capability of the a lot of the softness that you perceive in the middle the defense has come in the absence of Roosevelt Colvin. Because on the -- when the team had better depth in their line backing -- they were able to keep guys pressure in that rotation. On you didn't see that perceived softness that would be my guess. But now the Colvin has been out for the year for for several weeks now you've had and we remarked about this earlier this week you've had you know there on Bruschi played aliens night every. -- of every game."
[40:54]" Interviewed said the that was going to happen early in the season. You certainly would have thought the patriots would get in trouble. And that's -- all due respect to those two guys but the fact is is that they're obviously no less is more experience than others. Probably don't have quite the same zip in their step and who does when they're they're H a couple of as you did when you were a 25. Nobody does so. But you gotta give those guys credit because they've made the plays in the deep into his back them up and they've had all the guys pick up lack if they've ever need it. What can they do have prevented the Super Bowl."
[41:29]" It really depends on what they deem to be the one thing that you cannot give the giants. Now my own personal qualities that I I do believe again and mentioned this earlier this week but I'll reiterated here and we won't have a chance talk about the next week with. I think that -- pretty much game plan for the giants same way they did for the you know week seventeen game and in December what was on the twenty ninth. I think they'll try to make sure that Jacobs and or Bradshaw don't know. Doubt them to death the middle the rocket. I still think of the try to make Eli Manning beat them you know Manning has had -- great into the season he's had. Three really good playoff games isn't gonna pick in the post season. I think they feel like you were going to lose this game we want Manning to have the game of his life and so they're going to make Eli Manning beat that. Because if they decide to Peyton Manning away but then Jacobs and Bradshaw and company got them up the middle that's going to it right there that -- to time of possession going to the giants the giants having success running the football. And that's going to give fewer opportunities to Brady. And the patriot offense. -- feel like this is a win win for the patriots Iowa what we're going to stop one thing that we know they know how to do and do well that is Iran. We're going to make Manning drove the ball. We'll take our chances and maybe put -- son Daniel on Plaxico Burress and hopefully he can handle him try to give him from safety help when we came from time to time but even so even if Manning does have success we know that we're going to get the ball back to Brady's going to have a chance to do something with. That's what I think -- for the most part did in December and I think that for the most part what they'll plan on doing next week. Bobbled Gary thank you -- aren't you we I liked this one that was good Chris in the Bronx is -- either or type of thing here. -- game for you put the following players in order according to whose most likely to fit each topic. Witness before have -- likely take the times news this is good stuff aren't you Miguel. And and you'd be able to play along at home or in your officer and wherever you're listening all right he we got. Most likely to make a big play in the suitable moss Samuel -- Washington. Likely moss is because he made obviously the he'll -- touchdown catch the 65 yarder against the giants beckoned him. Are most likely scored the first touchdown moss Welker or Maroney. Welker most likely to get an interception Sanders Harrison Samuel. I'm going to the same most likely get a sack Warren Thomas or sale. Room sale and he's been playing well a slightly let's give him one. -- helluva way to go out when it most likely catch a short pass Kyle Brady Spock Heath Evans."
[44:24]" And."
[44:26]" Kyle Brady most likely lead the team in reception yardage moss Welker Gaffney."
[44:32]" Moss most likely to score short yardage touchdowns Vrabel -- Spock. Vrabel most likely to cause a fumble Wilfork Bruschi annual. Little rule -- good most likely cause a fumble I'm going to saying. I was there Wilfork longest play from the line of scrimmage Maroney moss Stallworth. Even better I have to go moss and now. Okay today Gilchrist in the Bronx thanks for it and that's also like Denny's in those any time we want to like finals games parents that you would Rhode Island -- I'm very concerned about the superbowl she -- to me the giants are. On a row and they've embraced the underdog role in getting better with -- each playoff game. I only the patriots are getting better they looked okay against Jacksonville and Jacksonville had better receivers that game could have been very different. The game against the chargers was shaky at best. About Tom Brady was awful you detached and out of -- from the very beginning of the game now he's hurt that's not going to help. It's any -- key starters I think the patriots would have been eaten. I sensed no joy from the patriots and their AFC championship to eight and they're tired no energy. In my just a paranoid New England Sanders during -- into this."
[45:54]" national we answer. And it's a a a Karen lighten up -- this."
[46:05]" Were laughing not at you Karen -- laughing with you I was hoping that we get you know some of -- Red Sox paranoia and -- it. You're -- creep into the occasion around here for -- the patriots it's -- we need good dose of Red Sox all around here and I just got. The Karen I'm very grateful to leave and there's just do it unless we have -- here. You know a a a the first of all the giants have -- the underdog role they are getting better with the playoff but I would concur and and I think tracker -- this out even though we had some real success in the the last ten years with wild card teams Donnelly advancing but yes we've had what three I think for. Report actually win. -- doubles. What have in the extra week off not only helps the giants at all it either either really does help them were really hurt them and we're obviously time will tell we get up on the field we figured allow but. I think it in just as easily hurt them."
[47:10]" Patriots getting better well. I think all things are relative I mean teams are playing them tougher. Are they getting worse I don't know I think teams have learned how to play the patriots -- the teams have learned. Howell to stay close to the patriots but they have to learn how to beat them yet now have day. If Jackson had better receivers the game would have been very different well but the -- if sandy like some of the key starters the -- it would have been beaten well they didn't. I mean they had all their starters for the exception of Ladainian Tomlinson and there are those that would tell you that Michael turner. In a lot of ways is every bit as good between the tackles as Tomlinson it means the highest -- he's the highest pay -- Backup running back of the entire NF of the L -- you know. What -- they have some other key starters the -- concluded beaten don't that they get older starters. And you sensed no joy from the patriots and their AFC championship well it's because these guys have been there. -- there. They're not hired they don't it's not that they don't have energy."
[48:17]" It's just you don't get to see the same. Outward enthusiasm for -- winning an AFC championship as they did say why don't know back in 1995 or 96 rather. It is not going to -- Because this is a new and different in on traveled all uncharted territory. This is a veteran Damon -- half the roster has been to the Super Bowl before."
[48:42]" All on the it's a matter of no choice but it's a matter of just veteran leadership his holiday is guys who have been there you know you heard the phrase Karen. It will act like you've been their before."
[48:52]" That's exactly what the patriots are doing their acting like they've been there before because. They have been."
[49:00]" So beyond that you opener will be. That was Springfield I wonder how much LT got paid for the three a long busy commercial. I imagine trying to placing him man -- work out and embraced into the bench grab and his -- prize Thomas sitting down and himself better. Like he does in his commercial. Also don't get me wrong here love Tom Brady but I have some man issues with him wasn't he just finished playing a tough game in which you were banged up here -- sore. Tell that leopard penny -- Sizemore for gene -- and -- pose and -- become busy you know. I don't care if she's got a photo shoot the more you -- the pampering pump you -- of flowers besides you're Tom Regan ready a computer yeah that's right -- let's -- speak of which I'm not want to talk and don't know the situation but it returns and just a little with my baby boy that running to -- average guy I would be running to my boy with a little time -- have him nearby Jeff will be just a baby for so long so it just can't they I just think you cannot let the -- passed you by that again I don't know maybe Bridget is being difficult or whatever that's just what I would. Thank you never Springfield where -- two cents my way I want -- also -- think -- from the UK. Because -- it has been kind enough in her pictures to the UW guys of which I'm also privy to and I am. I can't answer the questions about the of the gay guy and you picture their fortieth in -- right -- no Paul. He you do a good job good -- good job buddy you -- is all fundamentally good job value. Nice pictures I appreciate that calm here we deal. Joshua since this. Got a point tags here going to go to this'll. What is all of that sent couldn't reach if that was all list of a 106 is when he sent me okay. Okay round you know what we've kind of gone through that job. And I can rip it apart and to trade so unfortunately there we currently. Com got from Washington DC says John thanks for the great season of patriots playbook enjoy the game have a great off season got to thank you -- that -- one of the while -- of the regular E mailers and you always have from the good to offer and it greatly appreciated. Vince in this email he says hey I just began tuning in the past week after the pats went over the chargers. I mainly decided to tune in because I live in New Jersey and am tired listen to the giants fans on WFAN. First I have been pats fan and 71 when Jim -- to photographers came to pass from Stanford always love of the underdog. The top half fit the bill -- allowed to mention that -- to people who think dynamic four runner. Now -- question civil question what is the talk on the -- signing Randy Moss to longer. Com or Vince first -- glad that you found it's better late than never. On and we're glad that you with a unfortunately I will be with you next week of the guys take off Arizona. On that is our last program again of the calendar year or not particular year of the football season will be back again next September when the next season rolls around inside the playbook for. -- at any -- your question we've been talking quite a bit everything that we've had on this particular subject is sheer conjecture. It all opinion. It's not based on anything anybody said to anybody else -- kind of conversations that we might have been privy to or might have overheard Roma in the hallways here at Gillette stadium. It's just based on general knowledge of the subject in in particular. Com the thought process -- that because Randy Moss seems to have enjoyed himself. In enjoyed his season and obviously he's going -- enjoyed a heck of a lot more if two weeks from now we're talking about a parade and he's talking about getting a big ring on his finger. Okay that. Signs -- a guy who has made his money. For the most part of the league and now he what he wants is a legacy and he wants a championship and so he would be going to come back in that regard it would because -- is he going to really get that opportunity. Now because of the season he had with you know and the touchdown catches all. As a free agent could he go out there in in in claim more money. Sure I think it's entirely possible. -- moss -- everything that we've heard from him this year and by all indications that he's given us. Both with his words and his actions on that's exactly what he's looking for so. In this case my guess is that the patriots will last Randy okay. Do you want to come back and if you do how can we make it work and they'll try to find a way to make it work. And -- with a subpar year two years what have you they would make it work as long as they can make it work for the team which is first and foremost. But I think most everybody seems to belief. The very few people have talked to the don't think rating muscle thing. Most everybody does think he will now as for some of the other players well you know got like. Stallworth may be you know on the -- some of the others that are you know impending free agent it's a different story. And the patriots have some very difficult decision to make they always do you know. There's never year in which the team is completely intact -- one -- the next but it does does not happen for the ball you going to bring in rookies to begin with and there's always a few good rookies that in the making -- And there's cause if you players that either retire they go on legal you know pick -- the paycheck or what have you there's always coming and going. And it will happen there will be turnover with this team no matter how much you want to hold on this team. Because if this team does wins to hold 42 we will go down. As the greatest single season team in professional sports history not just the NFL -- is that is well. What I'm talking about all of professional sports double. The patriot team is going to be right up there at the top and I don't know how you can keep them off that list. Because what they've done in this in this season. So no matter how much you want to hold on -- them and how much want to bring it back. It just doesn't happen it's almost impossible. This from from and little -- Hampshire response to -- when rated -- put -- fire in the Middle -- do you think that accelerated elbow he got on with his work anyway the next. And the next. And the next. Business as usual actually correct thanks him for sending. Com I mean when you win or his particular instance like -- there that's that's actually pretty good analogy. You know when you keep winning and you know you don't celebrate with a name him invigorate should the first time. You know you learn from it and you move on and you know what it takes to get to that point again you try to follow that path. That's qualities you know the next and the next next business as you beat me. I think the -- I was pause here for I'm out again. And then we'll have Russell Baxter from ESPN -- the research coordinator coming up we'll continue your emails if you want to send them on please do a web radio. With the 10 AM and all so British com. That's good stuff like that they did this the last time for the Indians who Walton three years ago when. Com looks like is beginning to become a bit of -- tradition at Winston. Web radio at patriots dot com again is our email address coming up in fact in just a little bit here in the program we did what we did mention of course there is some New Delhi but they would team is concerned. They got back to work today. After having a few days off following the AFC champ which -- win over San Diego's team did. A return to practice today pectoral wrapping it up as we speak out of the practice bubble just out by the Gillette stadium grounds here. And Eric we did have a chance speak with Wes Welker. Ellis Hobbs Richard Seymour and junior sales we will bring you. Those interviews coming up here in approximately twenty minutes so that is on the agenda here for the play -- today and you know what the players are the ones that -- play in this game the players the ones that got back to work today after having a couple of days off. And now between of will between today and what next Friday or Saturday every day and some four faction is going to be a work day is typically on game planning. For the New York Giants -- So why should the players themselves tell you what they're going through and what they're looking for -- and how they're going to handle this or how they're going to handle that. That's what they are going to do will bring -- those interviews -- in about 2030 minutes right here inside playbook dom. And what you hear from those particular players we got a chance to speak with today. Com I noticed also a couple of other stories from around the NFL that I can't say that is in I can't it's a huge surprise to me. To be honest with the bottom listening in the car radio today and remember it was ironic similar -- and it was. I'd definitely like to go them with the ex -- all over the place but bomb. It was a story on the dolphins on in there new regime. Com in fact Jeff Ireland who is their new general manager he's quote was we're open for business. And apparently this is a quote that he told the NFL network yesterday but apparently the dolphins now I've cited that they won't allow. Offer for the number one draft. That come as a shock to you. What do tells me is that what they've done between Jeff Ireland and end of course the -- Nam and in particular they've decided that you know what we've got so many things tentative. And so many needs to get to. That just having one player. Even he may be the best player overall in the draft at number one we need bodies when he people we need players. Yeah hole and so we'll see if of course there -- a team that is going to be able to seeing the dolphins magic number and make. -- bid for the number one pick. I'll Russell Baxter. [1:08:02]" I don't know and it is very disappointing but because that the patriots 21 chargers well. I giant went into overtime that -- idea. Exactly funny thing is I have to putt trying to work on overtime last week you really there was something about I thought. And I think necessarily thought that the giants were going to win the game I did not I gave him more than fighting shouldn't. Mainly because once you get the momentum going. That they hat that's just a week now we've seen two time in the last year round on this team has won three straight road games. It's the Super Bowl would be like patriots did. Was for a long time an anomaly now. We -- an -- remembers that third here in Toronto that a team is going to play twenty games which is when super that is correct yet -- last year even at a -- walk parties the 220 games to one at that drug dealers of course so. It is that we just needed and --"
[1:09:02]" No. -- AB's it's but I guess I have to I have to think at least rattle off the top that. -- because of the track record and I and I spent little time in the opening the program talking about this but. Because the track record that you know wild cards now having success and teams. Going on the road and winning three straight. I do we does that speak to what are what does that exactly speak to does that speak to parity. There's a big -- ability does that speak to teams just kind of getting over the hump and not having that fear anymore what does it -- to do you think."
[1:09:36]" I think if I think it speaks to Tuesday I think it speaks to -- that I and I believe this in all sports. As a way to landscape is set up across professional college sports right now winning now when you're expected to win. There's a relief. Not something to be celebrated -- that -- he's saying that this is just how I think it's treated. When you're expected to win and you don't the consequences of the criticism is overwhelming. I think about the NFC John the last four years -- conference is been in the NFC title game and with no repeater. Think about the -- not only in the National Football League what about baseball you know. -- about the teams that don't have best record getting to the NBA -- it was the NHL. The NCAA tournament college football the course of the number two this year. Et cetera et cetera I think there's so much overwhelming pressure put -- one from a lot of different and it these you know media understand why that. Two degree I think all athletes have rabbit ears and the release of winning. When you're expected to win. Is you know what what can say about it it -- he just don't see Detroit necessarily. You know -- team loses wonder expected to win it you know the work -- come out. Five minutes after it happened right hand I think that the there's a big part of that that goes on now with our society in terms of actually and gains and and especially more professionally college but you see ecology well dream teams that aren't -- In other sports and so want to just happened the other part of that is it speaks to be exposed to the New England Patriots. But while we're talking about the last four years -- cease sending any different teams the conference title game the patriots have been in three of those -- Stewart have been into and no one else has been in more than one. It just shows that there -- And in this age of free agency the more modern free agency -- and 2000 and so on now that everybody knows how work they got seven or eight years to figure it out you know what the patriots have done. These quite impressive they're there contender every year they didn't play -- six the last seven years they've had a winning season every one of those here you know the colts to a degree as well -- Stewart to a degree as well but not to the degree of the New England Patriots and there's a lot to be said for that and the patriots have done it you know we're going to go back you know if the patriots -- some problem of course are expected to you're going to go back and people start comparing it dynasties in the 70s80s and nineties and now the thousand. And so on and showing how these teams are built in. Probably going to the waited on it so -- while I wouldn't put the patriots perhaps in the class that the the seventy Steelers they there an awful lot like there're actually like a combination of the seventies Steelers. In the -- 49ers could the niners force won their fourth Super Bowls. Over in nine years speed and ended it by changing personnel the patriots have done their share changing personnel. The seventies it was pretty much stick with the same team when they won four times in six years."
[1:13:04]" So you wouldn't put the patriots in the category the seventies Steelers."
[1:13:08]" Well note in the terms of how they're dealt okay okay and the terms of how they are dealt and they went 417 year obviously that conversation at the comeuppance so. That could be expected to just seventy Steelers. Is that they'll and I don't keep organist at what they had -- went all -- have a -- all paper and attracted. He became a hall of famers -- of what they accomplished and I think the difference over the seventy spirit now you know of the patriots when I'm sure when next year and and it's five -- years that we got -- all different stratosphere to -- different with a seventy -- is a couple things eight it fact it was really the same team I want to say it was almost. Point 324 guys played in all four Super Bowl it was in that same backfield combination seeing receivers for the most part and so was really the same -- Second is Steelers repeated twice in that decade they won nine and they won thirteen fourteen. And I think the thing that. To meet the most impressive about what that was seventies Steelers it. I didn't know that it enough in the patriots can do anything about it just that the change that we played in. It is 71 but the this horse -- to back to back Super Bowl. Winning the old fashioned way before the rules changes. And in the first two actively changed the rules and other words deplete all control and decent. The NFL changed roles and 1978 and the Steelers won two Super Bowls by having a little more wide open offense and playing a different style these."
[1:14:39]" And well -- as you -- take a look Bennett at these two teams in there and the respective merits -- the fact is these teams just played each other little less than a month ago when. We made the analogy this week Russell that frankly it's a little like. Game planning again for a divisional opponent the second time around which is going to make these two weeks I think seem even longer than they normally are in a regular Super Bowl year so if you take a look at these relative strengths and weaknesses of the teams is there anything in your estimation. That either team can do that would greatly change their fortune."
[1:15:15]" What -- if you really think about -- it should be really kind of sick of each other. I'm mainly because it's actually the third time that play right that they played here and I know we don't really count the pre season."
[1:15:26]" But it -- the last few of the pre season the last game of the regular season and now the last I would."
[1:15:30]" The postseason run which we think we should just put them both over in the trouble maker early yeah. And so -- and we should be able to go away."
[1:15:37]" Yeah I don't I definitely agree with that -- you know people say you know you know -- going to the -- I have a lot of college basketball duties as an -- familiar with -- fact is that if I had my choice between the two I think -- go to Hawaii. Shore and I respect Arizona."
[1:15:55]" There's good and you're -- don't know why. You can watch the game 1 o'clock in the in the -- in the introduction to game 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Prime time -- animal will you watch a game of the 1 o'clock and ignore it okay that's the -- And by the way after the game's over -- enough time to go do something you get the beauty beauty the five hour time to predict exactly. I don't know what we're different can be gotten you know obviously the best thing I think it helps both these teams I think we're so the patriots and giants. Is that two weeks' rest you know would it would be patriots being the battle bogeys but the defense which has more veteran players. And also demand to wear and tear up this season for both teams into different regards to mental wearing there but for the patriots. Because mentally doing what they've accomplished going eighteen you know and just got back off the top of what we were talking about the opposition. You know the expectations. Now I mean they didn't plan on being you don't have to don't want to it would Super Bowl. You do have to go undefeated in order to go undefeated DD only 1918 minute and it felt as. That has worn on them I have little doubt about it because figure out every waking day for the giants the wear and tear of three straight road game and in all parts of the country independent Florida they've been in Texas they didn't frozen Wisconsin. So that two week helps them I I think that's the biggest difference that both these teams can -- it will be interesting to is just giving time to get refreshed you know it in the -- page. Which film study we don't just grateful that I was a full time business now there's just really not any surprises -- go one. Anymore so I need to pick it tripled these -- in this bye week is just getting a little healthier stronger."
[1:18:00]" Yeah I would guess so obviously you know we've had. And you've seen the pictures of Tom and his foot in the Booth analyst often now apparently he he did not at least for the media portion of practice that began today here July that he was not present for that though. It wouldn't shock me at all he Brady continues kind of hold out. Awe and and not take part in any kind of drills until they get the -- only actually began the on field game planning for the giants -- is like I said they know what they need to do to beat New York it's just a matter of execution."
[1:18:28]" it is a question about it that they've already beaten -- the giants gave them an excellent game there's no question about the giants were able to move the ball -- that potentially able to get a kick off return against them which. Probably -- all the things this year that probably the most surprising because you have to you have to patriots special teams are so good but. You know it it became a kind of jump started the giants to where they are right now and and for the patriots it was you know it was a chance to make. Little mini history you know Brady would the fifteen touched impact marked with a 23. Third touchdown reception the first sixteen and -- regular season but out on the business the patriots -- and so far that. Against Jacksonville and a near perfect game in terms of completion percentage and I got a funny story to tell you about that. Again instead the jaguars and last week where they didn't necessarily play -- what that absurdity conditions had something to do with it. But finding a different way to win to beat San Diego team that had a lot of momentum after upset at Indianapolis Colts and for the giants were can you say about them you know Eli Manning is now on from he doesn't look like he cares to calm cool and unflappable. I noticed his changes facial expression no but nobody is Super Bowl he's become calm cool and unflappable and instead of he doesn't care -- doesn't interest."
[1:19:55]" Although -- we've got a few emails from fans especially today thing in the patriots aren't interest it. Because of their Coleman cool demeanor in the locker room after the AFC championship game anomaly. Now all I I guess it's just you know a case of been there done that they're in other acting like they've -- before because you know."
[1:20:13]" At least he's learned it was I was pretty well I mean you've got twenty these guys who actually played. The -- on the active roster. Twenty of them have actually played in Super Bowl there's a couple of guys. On -- public Adalius Thomas who was with the ravens Super Bowl 35 but he was inactive you know Roosevelt Colvin who played and won the Super Bowl but. It now going to miss that a second one because he's on our guard happened to a couple of years ago was well. So even the guy who would not necessarily critical late in the game itself. You've got guys. -- around to support guys who have beaten two Super Bowls as well that's an -- big advantage for giants seem to really only a handful of guys like Michael Strahan. And Amani Toomer and Doug gray Ruegamer -- it was with the patriots. I believe one year listening to correct as far as their Super -- playing experience."
[1:21:03]" And do you in amongst the club of home folks I guess from your network at least it seems to be -- lately they give the giants more than just departures chance in this --"
[1:21:15]" What can I do of course I do because I think when you're at this stage of the game. Everybody does and ended and yet we know about the patriots if it is Super Bowl they went spiteful or just let it it's just -- although I don't think that's what's going to happen this time."
[1:21:29]" I think for that fact alone -- patriot fans that are actually rooting for a route because of that."
[1:21:34]" Oh I'm sure our -- am sure they -- you know it's funny. Five closest Super Bowl for government did you play by the patriots and giants. Okay nobody's -- close to the Super Bowl been the giant state. It was a -- well now when he library right in you know there's Baltimore sixteen Dallas thirteen and at all repatriate arguable muted and -- Despite quite a few more lessons for the different patriots a giant."
[1:22:02]" Yeah I I told the store earlier that's more I'm -- one enduring memory of the Super Bowl is well Bryan kicking a field goal I cried like a baby."
[1:22:09]" Yes yeah I think that would be great you know. It's only recently that we've let you know the exception of Baltimore and the giants and Tampa Bay to Oakland you know most Super Bowls. The patriotism and I mean compared been competitive games Denver and Denver Green Bay you know ten years ago it was a great game in the rain last year even though the colts had yet you know decisive in just four -- it really didn't put the bears waited so late. They know -- a kind of double with Seattle as well that was competitive games so in this era. Of free agency and competitive balance. It doesn't terms when he used the Super -- have been more competitive as well you know not everyone that they not every once 55% or 46 -- anymore."
[1:22:54]" It -- it should we be surprised that we don't seem more -- balls like that like we used to."
[1:23:01]" I I -- surprises and the -- I don't I have in mind it is it it might be a little on the decisive page as well but I I just think -- the teams are a lot closer. Then they are and the patriots have played a different kind of football. During the second half decent and they get the first after the season for a lot of different reasons now. Weathers had something to do with it. Weather's not going to be a factor obviously in Arizona not you know not inside you know the bio dome -- so want seductive that. Plays into what I'm thinking as well indebted -- a lot of adjusting and teams have also done a lot of adjusting to -- the patriots -- this year as well also I I keep hearing people. The worst thing you can say about the New England Patriots as of late is they haven't covered a lot of their games that's true but that's an awful entrance to a legacy now. There's just awful should they haven't covered should be -- if you win every game by one you can go undefeated."
[1:24:06]" That's true but should that be -- the fact is that they haven't you know covered the spread so to speak."
[1:24:10]" Why I don't think so I -- I think what they didn't beginning a year were so amazingly overwhelming. And it it turned out they did figure finish what -- A point differential 315 which is pretty amazing yeah it's the largest in NFL history right you know all the other teams and -- fewer games. And fight game who would be more per game so it's not -- or payment record but. You know I think people saw them one -- three beating. Baltimore and Philadelphia and the giants and so -- and and that's not unusual you know it's hard to keep up a table. Ever wonder rams exploded on the scene in 1999 and it's not like they didn't have their struggles -- they noted blew up Minnesota but they fear that they they -- Tampa Bay and beat them eleven to six. And then it came down to a tackle in the Super Bowl as well so that was it seemed it was lighting everybody up and -- just. It's hard to sustain that type of explosiveness. Well that's why most of these teams who have scored a lot of points and -- and John had not won the title. It's a hard case to keep up it's like like being Loyola marry him out and playing that way for six months. He just can't do it all the time."
[1:25:31]" Okay hum. Got a couple of emails or shared with you that's -- Q this one comes from mom and drew in Maryland nieces my first time right. I have only ten minutes right this email because I'm in between class is here in Maryland. But I did want to write you guys and -- that I can hear my email on your great show before you guys go off the year for the off season. I enjoy the show immensely over the course of the season just got into it. I'll -- my obsessive patriots dot com use. I've been able to listen to today's show could have been in class for sure you're offering great insights as always while he obviously knew what time we around here anyway it does say here. Where -- here okay. I believe our secondary maybe in fact we are weakest areas it would by the fact that our front four our line backing corps have been playing so strong but let's not get bogged down in being impressed by Philip Rivers or Eli play. Over the course of those cup a couple of games do not remember that rivers through no touchdowns and two interceptions against the supposedly shaky secondary. We -- remember Ellis Hobbs sealing the deal on the giants game with a crucial interception. Despite giving up 200 yard games -- secondary always makes plays when it has to and I believe Super Bowl 42 will be no different. Any thoughts in particular unknown on the patriots secondary being a quote unquote weak link."
[1:26:45]" That's going to need -- yeah I I've -- that's not something I deciphered I think. You know when you when you attack New England Patriots do you like to attack them over the middle. I'm an -- that had to do was keep getting behind her linebackers and in front of their secondary not necessarily behind your secondary. So passing yards is always a lousy indicator. Of secondary as you well know -- that's now been great yeah that's what we great defenses just peaceful and yards but comic checked the -- to give up a touched him last week so. That must be pretty -- I would Saddam -- they did give up their share some big plays. And most didn't attend over the middle very much like when they -- Philadelphia. And so one you saw them take advantage of that but I don't you know we have a party you know back there because he mentioned Ellis Hobbs he's come up. What a couple of timely interceptions this year I don't look at their secondary is an issue what is the biggest issue get to put -- one -- decent. It may be getting up back lined up on -- linebacker yet I don't know the giants -- Ahmad Bradshaw who they really don't you like and a much in the passing game can really take advantage of that."
[1:27:56]" Here's the perception I think Russell is which is where I think the majority of patriot fans who have this criticism coming from. Fact is is that during some of these games in which they have been relatively close the the patriot defense is giving up the perception that they are off. Or soft her in the line backing corps in in the secondary. And my point was sort of two fold number one I think part of that is because that was the way the patriots were designed to. -- defense that particular opponent to give them what they thought would be their best chance to win the game as number one and number two while there might have been some mistakes made. Frankly the look the opponents a lot of opponents in the latter have a season have learned how to at least keep it close if not beat the patriots they have or haven't been able to beat them even though they have kept it close."
[1:28:41]" The more you play. The more opportunity to get to learn what your opponent and that's exactly -- with New England in the net that's why this sport had gotten closer because people work. People are casting constantly in the NFL. We saw this offseason how much school keep we're going to go to -- what New England did offensively this year. Figured it would Randy Moss when he was a rookie. The vikings were totally different after his rookie year they still -- points but they were totally different football team because people to adjust. People adjust after awhile that's why the NFL after awhile tweaked its own rules because eventually -- to suggest this well so I I I think knowing -- pretty smart football team making the -- knows his strengths and weaknesses as doubted anyone. And to me. That only concern I've had about new England's defense all year has been the -- at linebacker picked him in you know maybe you'd see is well Rodney Harrison whose usual kind of saved his best football for the post season but. I'll reiterate my point it's New England secondary it's a weakness I I just don't say it."
[1:29:51]" One of the email here has a little bit different subject matter to go to Jerry who says he's a long time pats fan transplanted to New York State. He explain approximately how players and coaches are compensated for playoff games. My memory is that there's a winner sharper player that is about twice the losing share. How are the shares calculated they eat equal share pro player -- teams like the patriots earned less by getting a bye. In the first round."
[1:30:17]" I think it's it's per game. -- buddy goes up I think program around the it's not just like what you once we play our games despite doubts and poor play off game. You know the stakes go up I don't have the break -- on. For all the different realms and so on but I mean did superbowl pot usually goes up every year -- you know I don't think you get. Punished for safer now playing an extra playoff game and."
[1:30:48]" I'm not sure I'm I'm I mean I'm not sure what with a 100% answer on that is I would I think fourteen did you think -- an opening week -- find it hard to believe that they make less money. And it seemed that you know has to play an extra game."
[1:31:02]" I think they get credit for the round but I I'd."
[1:31:06]" Yeah definitely and a break down -- pro around and so -- I'm usually the NFL's always you know they -- they're not great not releasing. Shares of money always they've always been pretty good about trying to put the winner's share in the -- share is the Super Bowl on the probable. And so -- I don't had to confront be credited for this year so far but it is as far as the Super -- is pretty much quite as much -- what did you know is what you get yeah."
[1:31:32]" It arm well before we -- wrap it up this year Russell personable I just say thank you for your willingness to visit with the with the patriots fans every week here in this particular program you know as well as anybody because we've been doing this now for a couple of years but. You know as well as anybody the patriots fans pretty much are as passionate as any fan out there in the National Football League and from time to time we know that we get. Fans from other teams who you know log on and listen to these programs because we're the only particular program of its kind. In the NFL at least at this stage of the game and who knows when other teams begin to start the -- programming like this but the inside that you brought the program the fact that you're willing to take the time -- didn't explain a lot of the historic history behind it -- a lot of historical significance behind what's going on in and around the NFL and what it -- and especially around the patriots. -- team as well -- week -- we will all be very very grateful for and I know that I've I've heard from several email is as well the past is that they can't believe that your full time job but he has the end is to do nothing but the NFL for 365 days a year and that what a great job you must."
[1:32:41]" Well I have a great time doing it. I especially like doing stuff like this John you know compassion is a big word with may you know I I run into my shared passion of people at ESPN. Some of I don't consider passionate and summer -- considered as lately mature but there's a difference -- I had about a particular book okay but the but I what I mean by that is I mean I love what I do I try to be. As informative as possible -- tragedies factually accurate as possible and try to give -- perspective that encompasses everything. And you know that that's what I get paid for ESPN my mother god bless her soul. But at this personal -- and when she saw what I was doing for a living she knew it was meant to do it and I can't explain why -- as long as I have but fortunately so maybe it it depends -- to visit with every week because I know we carded and over the heart of the patriots into the other great fans across the country are as well and they want to see their teams win. -- a little overzealous on time yet that we are here on to resist is yet but all in all it's still only game that's the most important thing you need to remember."
[1:33:58]" Absolutely that being said what are your thoughts then on the game a week from Sunday and I know you've said already that. Quite frankly you tend to think that this could be not one of the close ones that the patriots have played -- that the three that they -- ball bit by a field goal each in what leads you to that particular -- determination at this point."
[1:34:18]" What got three factors in my wrap this up very quickly earning the patriots are twice as good as most teams they started up the -- scoring 38 points every week and I think they'll do that again and since 38 is quite hasn't read."
[1:34:33]" In nineteen and I'll make it patriots 3090 very good I guess in nineteen and OT and of course they scored thirty against the giants the first time around -- It does make you kind of a book in type thing doesn't."
[1:34:49]" everybody remembered for most people might not that dolphins were blocked you blow away from winning the Super Bowl seventeen to nothing during their seventeen -- beaten. There are top fourteen nothing would be your Permian had a field goal blocked. Final score on the fourteenth seven he would kick it -- seventeen how ironic that night. I'm I'm not old enough to pick the pitchers are going to win the Super Bowl nineteen in -- but it that with nothing but I think the giants will move the football and and and score. But I think the patriots just might have a little too much."
[1:35:22]" I would and tend to agree Russell it is it's been great to visit -- you thank you against a much for the time that you spent with -- I know that you and I will we'll chat again shortly. Fairly soon one of these days I'll get back to Bristol. It seemed like every time they call me to do stuff for them though it's like hey you can do it via her eyes as the end if you want to and -- kinda -- well it's kind of hard for me to say no I'd rather deal lap all the way into Bristol but the at any rate I'm sure -- will run into each other in very very soon and if not and then willow we'll talk this summer we can't sits up and up for next year again that's."
[1:35:57]" Absolutely -- triple earlier traveled John my pleasure it's been great opportunity again and enjoy my game I know you won't beat her but --"
[1:36:05]" Absolutely our -- by the way are you getting to go out I'm heading down next Saturday morning very nice in joy Arizona. I'm going to really try I think you with or no -- Russell looks and thank him different are the other that's Russell Baxter again in a well."
[1:36:20]" Research coordinator for ESPN as he joins us here every Thursday in. Yeah absolutely -- out there and they go we've already got him on the hook for next season. Will bring him back next year's playbook all right before we -- wrapup of the program for today and for the year with the Wes Welker Ellis Hobbs Richard Seymour. And junior -- from just a short while ago here at Gillette stadium and as they walked off the field from practice here day in fact a couple of other emails I'm going to share with you here. Dagmar in Miami says this is the last program until September I'd like to say thank you and congratulations -- really enjoyed all of your program's. Once again thank you I hope you come back in September as you say and that is my landing please make my greetings to get to everyone who works for the patriots networking gives special thanks. From part Brian alone Kristina Akra for their great job throughout the season. Or did you mean Kristina Akra and then -- hello. Which -- and then our friend Irene in Tampa is John thank you so much for the enjoyable commentary great football talk. Throughout the year I've listened to play book for quite a few years now and all the -- haven't had much of a chance to email lately I did the podcast deal quite a bit. In any case -- much appreciated by me I'm sure lots of the pats fans good -- you and yours will be glad to hear you again in September hiring the feeling is mutual. I always thank -- ended those that participate and take the time to not only email -- but the list in the program worked -- the podcast in this particular instance listen to -- live if you can what they're not here in your office or your home or wherever you may be when -- between two and 4 PM eastern time Tuesday's and Thursday's here on patriots dot com but it really should go without hitting the -- but I'll say it anyway. The show doesn't exist unless we have you. Stole it for the PFW guys apron -- and Dan and Jason everybody who here works as part of patriots dot com radio programming and the fact is is that we're very much appreciative of you -- interest in the New England Patriots. And we're very much appreciative of your interest in our opinions and our thoughts and our way to bring you. The news all of the day some peaks surrounding this football team arm. All we will wrap up today's program with. Interviews coming off the practice field today as the pats continued now to get under way -- their preparations for Super Bowl 42 of the New York Giants. Wes Welker Ellis Hobbs Richard Seymour and juniors sail straight. From the playbook."
[1:39:00]" Was okay. And a couple points on us."
[1:39:04]" What's -- those are I I don't know if it's -- calmer anything current Korean government there were trying to you know working -- and mixture you know we we did jump start on on this week I was back in my house and -- it is going to watch in the game and and in noses are hard fought game and in Munich to tells pretty cold in and you know you're digger doubles final it went. -- you know they mean they're very football team and majors -- a lot of confidence condenses gaming and they've really come come together as best -- and and we're different than ever hands or on. We -- offenses week. -- it thanks so you know confidence is a big thing in you know other come on a roll right now Allen and no we're we're differing you know -- have to do a lot of good things out there -- public and well here. You know I think you know they become -- notes a 1 game season this morning you know -- played up to him. And they're playing physical that are in there there's postings in excellent and -- literally will own their dolphins' -- speaks for Celso you know it's different you know abuse an agreement that -- improvements. Yeah I mean obviously you know what's -- concept of foreman has been record player and and especially -- playoffs and you know Singh has seen Manson. You know would say he's going to be healthy -- he's definitely veteran players been around for a long time news but it definitely some plays and then Ross's. No longer a rookie anymore and and you know -- definitely have our our hands -- There it. And I you know -- Tommy did an ism and some warm there and there's a excluded change course realistic how. Always at the beginning of the season so you know be good to detect and so warm climates let's. Arsenal -- I think that's any game you know especially you know late in the season like anger and in the playoffs you know I think. Every game's going to be like then and then maybe in. Maybe -- little -- now. There not -- to just calm about it thing pertain -- and his ankle. Yeah mean the guy has -- you know him as many games so you know Houston undertow -- you know in so well being in. And -- right it. -- To -- I guess I don't know I just look at that stuff by -- we do but it you know. We just know it's the next game in and and this one really counts and and you know position make sure that we were prepare ourselves and radio."
[1:42:49]" points -- Don't call me protect its house you and off field distractions I mean is that does it is distraction that'd be I -- obviously. If I'm right in being let -- you can't please everybody you know and there won't come because of this frame I got a guy who know the guy who knows with can give it to who whatever you know these difficult -- you know I think -- would have been in the meaning I think. The biggest -- we can use this week is no. You know no on a lot of pain you know his kind of simplifies everything not. And justify I don't you know and you back -- and this -- I know you know -- can't please everybody in the first or her sport I think the team that you solace. Play and December is it is the team and it did it in prison this whole playoff run -- Tino Martinez had a lot of momentum going into the game. And used a lot of situations that came up positive for them in a game just used -- UK on the playoffs."
[1:43:54]" How much Eli Manning. And he seemed like more into it in the quarter -- that."
[1:43:59]" You know sources all of our you know that the NFL it's go either way you go -- the best swing -- momentum August you know and I that is used. Him and the team just continue to -- the momentum throughout the playoffs the victories you know simplified the offense hitting the -- and making big plays off. It a -- I'm going to play the allotted to the whole season you know confidence that confidence -- victories in this in this league where you know going out there knowing that you can do wood and and -- player to play a speaks volumes about -- play in about the the team if it helps with the moment. It they're big you know big big buddies over there you know not necessarily just him and everybody over there you know big bodies want to be physical. One intimidate. -- want to go -- just -- that you just have to understand what they're trying to do have a trying to do. It if -- you can use they game the film study for practice what did you do wrong in the game and and also taken plazas you know when he wasn't hit the ball -- the ball that don't play well what were you doing not allow on that. It and it's it's him I've what what evidence of an -- two totally different things in ala. Now none any using anything like that what I said the playoffs is little different -- syllables is much different you know going to today game -- key factors that -- game be the way it is almost the ball comparable teams. But you can't go to a likely -- for what it's worth and does worry about who will. And then do it and then -- yeah. Yeah no just as it extended season we had a lot of state they want in that perfect season whatever this and that. And you know on you know just the whole hype mine in the media broadcast on the into the televised faces whatever. And you know it is. It is is just had a -- points that you could be a many -- down."
[1:46:19]" Let's let that tell you that the personality of their teams became so hot now I've seen anybody hit so after. Plan factor."
[1:46:27]" You know just income is not on this the game with the individual is if you in this league and you know you weren't thinking you can and it's Woodward came -- you want to compete all its not. You know not citadel and -- he just could you have them I think. Both teams -- this by the patriots and the time ago. You know that that's pretty much I carry out my life and a lot of guys in this locker room and throughout the league kid like a -- very competitive -- you just to try -- their by the into the people's mistakes you know. Understanding that you know other top and it doesn't want to thing -- you know it has come to you since that comes and says you know you in -- consolidate. But in between the white lines you know it's kind of like. Boxes you know honest that they do not that they they in the completely different person in the ring. And it hasn't that was a brilliant talk about how much might they end you know be you know whatever it doesn't matter man is like that you take him -- line. It technique great technique can't make mistakes on because like that when the ball and there you have to be you know aware of your body what's this and not allow him to give him of body position where he can -- got to -- almost like best long rebound and things like that where you know he's yardage at the size advantage but don't give me thing you know. Yeah I was on the front I'm always it's his his donate being not so without his body to get your way."
[1:47:59]" Richard -- There's after they're responsible for what they've done you know we were responsible for what we do. And you know so. -- so they deserve everything that they gave me because they deserved to be in this football game -- they came out they played. The game with balls in play they played hard they play so often will coach definitely good on special teams so. You know itself to those giants uniform because they're deserved it. Do you count them out absolutely you know you know -- a game like this everything that you do is always. Magnified times. Prominent immediately so. You know ethnic you know we've done a good job all year long of a -- now focus and he notices -- situation to continue to and I think we have to form would keep going. -- there. Right arm and a belt a superb example of the prime example you know look at it we can control you know play the world's biscuit you know play him. You know sport you know everyone votes and the physical social -- payment you know the world will be watching -- Williams and then we know willow with him all about. It's turn -- that there was him. Magnified you know who went up thank the funny part the good part of the flowers. Absolutely Oklahoma -- well what moment who expects. It right I mean. Obviously you know obviously -- before so well you know on this it. I don't. We'll see him not being in this game. Do you know I came also close my wife you know at some stupid but it."
[1:50:27]" Stagnant hundred players. Games mean yeah yeah yeah."
[1:50:33]" He and a and I think you know he puts in the work to be -- these players handle the conference got here he was you know slim in acute an advocate of -- As lyrics to this season is -- Olympic loosen. You know working out in the offseason you know dislike offense or defensive -- so you know you know he's a part of books and you know this --"
