[0:07]" And."
[0:10]" Podcast from the Patriots dot com and -- on. The get the officials here so. You know them officiate at different that's practice. This afternoon through Thursday which is always -- Patriot -- gas -- from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro -- you know working -- rule is we play. Just look -- there's. The rules are than me -- try to coach. Now with your Patriots 2008 training camp update the leaders of Patriot football weekly."
[0:45]" Tuesday July 20 ninth Gillette Stadium ball thrillers go you know -- here. Coming off an exciting morning worked out riveting which was a tremendous walk through all the players in attendance -- I could tell because. During what do they wear -- T shirts and blue short and they don't have those pictures -- numbers on always when you see the guys who were on you you were out there and I assume they're all their but Tedy Bruschi was out there Randy Moss some of the veterans who have been. You know out of action at least yesterday. Back on the field all the the UP guys. I'd check them off -- roster except Ryan Wendell that we looks like but I'm assuming he was out there Dave Thomas who limped off yesterday was out there throwing. No specific signs of any type of injury but they might find that out in the afternoon session as this at the morning with a walk through the first of 21 Tuesday. He second practice schedule we have full pads practice and I expect he'll likely want. A lot of the morning spent just some unique formations offensively. Obviously more a mental practice on both sides of the ball. And Tedy Bruschi tucked in the little bit of talk about. You know these are important you rest your legs a little bit you get your mental game in order and then you know later in the day. That you are going to have a physical practicing back to physical work. I'm speaking of Bruschi yet he sort of addressed the media and touched on a number of interest in topics and obviously the one. City's most closest to. Is that the situation at linebacker where -- see some new faces whether the filling -- void left by Roosevelt Colvin Mike Vrabel on UP. And he talked a little bit about the guys that I think -- of interest to fans. First of which. Number ten overall pick in the draft. Drug -- and yeah."
[2:28]" Government you know I think the big thing is is to attitude he's willing learn is when an -- and he's asking questions of these. And you know you can you can see the ability. He's. He's right in Manhattan and his physical at times. I think what I'm most -- about it is that it's consistent willingness to two at at this."
[2:47]" He can he -- knows knows the game plan your Norman LaMont Jordan was a little -- sound like a certain podcast Teddy just -- you read the play an E is that they are before you know. But that's that's good news Atlanta hear him you know you know enjoying. Gerard Mayo weekend at times in the past wondered how -- dealt with newcomers you know I don't think he always fit in well with the money by L and then maybe -- saw that. He wasn't going to pan out but he seems genuinely in trying to -- life. Now why -- I think the the good thing I think from from -- his point of view is all of us that. Mayo said when he's talked to the media you know right after signing. -- talking about. And you know may have talked about. Leaning on Teddy leaning on a Taylor Thomas the veterans and using them for guidance -- points suck up -- much that can a lot of people say it but evidently he's doing. As the best thing I've gotten that Bruschi clip right there not only that but also that he's. Showing in -- he's giving the scouting report that we sort of got on Mayo coming out of Tennessee that he was. Eager to learn and you know watched a lot of film and a student of the game it seems like he's already proven that to Tedy Bruschi who I think is is sort of a tough -- Yeah I was at that was good to hear about -- I was a little. Surprised at how. He responded so candidly about Tank Williams when he was asked about him because him typically. Players don't like to talk about. Other players and how they're performing certainly here with -- only -- contact -- other players right they'd rather just talk about themselves or say you know got -- ask bill but Bruschi you know he's you can -- there's no question he talked about Tank Williams and we we talk about -- first but Mayo and victor hobson are still with the second group. And as -- will point out when -- his sound like coming forward here. Tank Williams is still taken the reps with the first unit and has really I think not proven something to Tedy Bruschi by taking on that challenge of learning a new position."
[4:39]" Good at times and other times yes and learn things I mean it's never done it before he's never done it before so. He's Meriden I think -- it is different for him taken on guards sometimes at that type of level I mean he's he's a second second level sort of situations where he has little bit more base but. No surprisingly he's he's he's accepted at all and he's he's done a good job with -- doing the best to care about there's still with the first group working hard and I think. Different for me seeing him in there you know that your notorious at -- when he number in there and smaller body but you know he's getting the job."
[5:15]" I know it's still just a week into training camp not even a week yet and I it's early for predictions but I want to give both you on the record right now. This Tank Williams remained inside linebacker does he legitimately have a shot to start the season as a starter. I'm gonna say that. Mayo with if he keeps progressing the way he has so far I think Mayo empress QB your opening day starters so now. So no yeah I think lawyers who revert back more to his safety role but I think it's good that they get this in now just in case they have a problem. With injuries later on and they need to you know forced him in that role again at least to become more familiar with -- that -- Paul Perillo."
[5:51]" Yeah I agree with Derek I think you -- might still see him at linebacker by not starting and as a as a you know first down. In sideline backer playing the -- playing darts into an all that stuff and -- sub package got a complete linebacker but Eric's right. Down the road you know if mail you know -- as a rookie maybe he doesn't -- maybe -- the wall maybe gets banged out. For whatever read -- that depth is disrupted and all you have another guy with victor hobson and and Tedy Bruschi who could feel I agree I don't."
[6:22]" I would honestly like this experiment and sooner rather than later on for the whole reason. I think he needs you -- number ten pick he's your in -- linebacker the future he may have to take some lumps at some point whether team practice pre season or even real game action. But I think you need to get him out there to get him learning the system so that owner rather than later. He's comfortable he's experience he's feeling good out there and the one thing I'll say is I don't even think -- something at this point of saying well you know he's not quite ready so he'll blow up the practice field hinder the guys around him. Because I can't imagine that Tank Williams. Isn't slowing the rack up a little bit or any more learning eating a little extra coaching saying quote Teddy added -- to back what am I doing here. You know I thought I I think it -- payments and it's a new guy learning the system except males actually inside linebackers not learning a new position. The one thing that I was concerned with when I first started hearing and seeing hank Williams lining up so often linebackers inside linebacker was how he was going to take on offensive lineman. And by judging by what Teddy said. Sounds like ten is a broken right about that too from what he's seen it's a want it's wanting -- question of one rusty and -- right you can expect -- camera I don't know like he was candidly kind of on he's wondering about. The different roles for a guy that ball when he's number. Smaller guy and I think it's been a little bit of a problem because as Teddy said he's taken on guards -- a safety but he takes him on tosses pretty level yeah where you can. Used the open -- to your advantage as the better athlete. When your responsibility as the B gap you can't be running all over the field to avoid the guard you gotta be in the B gap when you need to be in the B gap so you need to take him head on. You know the -- gets -- banging heads and our linebackers and write it it's a lot different. Then be doing it as a team take on guard in the open field so you know I I really do think. You know in my opinion sooner rather than later I'd like to drop -- a run in with the ones and see what he has to offer an answer that. Take his rookie lumps and get him out of the way in practice early in the year so that by late in the year he is comfortable and inconsistent out there. Because I think that has to be your long term I think with another month of practice for the regular season starts I think if he continues to make those strike I think it's almost guarantee that will be in the starting okay anything stand out from that insulating walk through. While the officials ordered that indeed dating it to do much. In the walk through but they will probably later this afternoon -- today in them here for three days working with the players. -- they met with the media today discuss some rule changes they will meet with the team the players the coaches to discuss rule changes points of emphasis in those things with them. -- practices for Tuesday Wednesday Thursday where they will be in uniform they'll have their flags you'll season down into -- up they'll call. You know couple days ago we joked that looked like holding on James Sanders he'll throw the flag and call pass interference or holding whatever and let the players know when a game situation. You wouldn't flag there so it's good for them as the one of the officials that they get to work out their -- It's good for the players because. You don't want to be getting away -- not getting away with -- getting away with it in training camp. Make bad habits and then kick it with in the game so really fun to keep an eye on. Other than that. An evening session that I expect will be bang in as they say the pads will be on. And Randy Moss hopefully will be on the field creating excitement for the offense which struggled a little bit very much in the last full padded practice I look for a bounce back effort from Randy Moss the offense Tom Brady and company. Gillette Stadium Tuesday night. Open to the public but as always check Patriots dot com just in case any last minute schedule changes weather thunderstorms this time of year. Make street checker before you come down you don't want to waste a trip conduct -- out in. Other than that after this. We'll have another exciting practice -- tomorrow we'll have another exciting podcast. -- still going to be having games -- games are right around the corner will be previewing those as we go along. For Paul Perillo -- you know Indy -- he now."
