Play from 0:00[0:00]" Accurate Gillette Stadium -- Patriots Monday Dale Arnold Michael Felger Michael and for Michael -- and joining us are two of our Patriots Monday regular safety Rodney Harrison. Linebacker Tedy Bruschi hello guys that go with guys don't. Bad guys -- with the green dot talk. You finally had the chance to have the oh. Head phoning your ear in the green down on your helmet what was the experience like."

Play from 0:23[0:23]" I it was different it was different because you know usually defensively. A lot a lot of guys. To decide who gets it every time. Certain personnel groupings -- that go for everywhere just focused on one person was it was a lot different and -- so. As a linebacker a lot of times them you know helmets helmets or collisions and sometimes it gets loose or something like that there there was times when it wasn't as as wasn't clear as the beginning. But I think those of some -- work -- you -- can -- I get the sense that. You may not even use a commitment is no we we tried it out last week you know I think I think this week. We give it another go in that whether we want to move forward with that or the coach -- for feedback and we we've let them know what I told you there what way it happened out there -- a lot from the regular season you know."

Play from 1:12[1:12]" With you and Vrabel who has -- okay zone could be on the field and time. Right yet you yet they explain any real quick and they'll just have to green -- at the same time we you guys on the field the same time and Mike added a helmet or you let it definitely me and Braves had to helmet you had to go to the guidelines and morale -- different helmet was on who -- what are you wearing and that I guess part of the reason why you might not to look at this as. More trouble than it's worth at the end."

Play from 1:38[1:38]" there was also time I don't there during the game win. We -- We were going to go back to signaling and I had the other helmet now I want in my other helmet because we have. Hell with that you work with our leadoff preceded it a little bit differently so. I wanted to quit I ran out Don brochure our our head equipment guys premium leather with a with a that was that was a different."

Play from 2:00[2:00]" Problem that give it to the well I was going to ask the safety Rodney would you find that did it. Other than -- big Teddy erratic which you find it disconcerting to hear that voice in your career if it if you had one of those helmets on. I mean it'd be something definitely arm nutria really get used to. But Teddy does a good job you know communicated the fans and calling out sexson. So it really doesn't matter to me what happens I know Terry does a great job of communicating to what he wants to -- do you guys think you need it to -- teams ever picked up your signals from the -- Detected what your -- have no idea. I mean you never got that that a team when your plane and across the line sort of recognized that check that you made or anything like that."

Play from 2:43[2:43]" Now I mean during during a game we can't really think about who's who he would have that we were worried about getting it over four guys mean but in terms of is it -- to do it -- verbally to your helmet rather than it actually you know with arm gestures or something like that you know. Possibly or with and then again. Oh Rockets at one person -- rather than maybe two or three of the defensive backfield. And."

Play from 3:08[3:08]" I know that they don't. You know start keeping records for pre season games -- will they ever but. Having said that Rodney based on three pre season games should we be concerned about the way the team is playing not necessarily the result we you. Fans watching the game."

Play from 3:25[3:25]" would you let me just -- I mean. You know pretty easily as you -- lot of different different things again and you know we're focused in on trying to get better and that's all you can do in the weight room in the class room and on the field and obviously we haven't played great but. There's some a lot of areas that we played and -- that we worked hard and we've come to -- going to continue work car we don't watch ailment we're gonna get better and all we can do. You know it you as -- individual hat we have to get better and I you have to do. How difficult is it for a veteran guy like John Lynch to -- himself into a brand new system. With a relatively short amount of time to do I don't know you prior have as Alex but I mean he's working hard he's got a good job of you know trying to learn signals and learn communication and that -- a lot of questions and I've been communicating with John and you know he's a veteran he knows the game and you know he's picking everything up."

Play from 4:18[4:18]" Here's the thing that that jumped out me just about again the performance at the scores that historically here under Belichick you guys have done very well in the third pre season game. And you usually rebounded from a bad game with a very good one I've brought up the example of all four in Cincinnati it was a game where he. Built by the defense and -- brought back -- the third quarter mile 31 to three. You come back the next week and had a great pre season game in Carolina looked really good in the first half. Happen the next -- you give a bunch of points wallet here in 5 go to Green Bay all the Packers at three point track record here today. Is that. You turnaround after that pre season game in this case. You make it better from Tampa you've probably worse."

Play from 4:54[4:54]" That's why we try to focus on what we did last year compared to what we're doing mission we realized not only every is every year different but every -- difference so. I mean for a day -- in the previous years we did this oh we can do at this time or are we going to do that that -- not to not to do and we don't want to dwell on past victories -- and -- just move on --"

Play from 5:15[5:15]" Yeah and I was -- report about the other night he bill. After that and that it law was on the warpath that we get training camp and he you know it was halfway can he make sure you were ready to go that next week and what's important. In that game. Is -- a little bit less. This way that you're running given the length and a you know the the whopper of the year you have last year's bill managing that whole thing all the differently to."

Play from 5:39[5:39]" Last year has no bearing on this year -- mean a totally different team we have bomb new players. You know some players left some new players and I'm has no bear me but the F has a field where I mean that -- you bought there. And make your communication make your guys doing their job making tackles and not breaking down a coverage in and do know sort of thing so. I would say that his approaches change our approach hasn't changed. And we're still focused on what we have to do we're they'll make him they were still -- things but we gotta get better and that's what comes out of."

Play from 6:11[6:11]" I'm always curious how the young guys. Fit into the puzzle here and you've had mini camp now you've had training camp for the most part. Tell me how you see some of the young guys let's let's go to your position in particular -- guys like Crable and and -- Jerod Mayo holiday fit men."

Play from 6:27[6:27]" Well I I guess most more applicable to that question would be mail because he's playing next to me and now we've we've had a chance to work together now for a few weeks since mini camps and all or in the on his work out when when we -- there working out together and you know in terms of a young guy that that is that is if you want a young guy who's just willing to -- You know work well in a work in you know there -- a lot of adjustments and a lot of things you have to learn. With the with our defense and and I can ask anything more of them from terms of his attitude because so far I mean it still is early and and a debate they. You know the greatest performance or anything like that right now would be wrong but in in terms of his attitude and and what he does in the meeting room and and preparation I couldn't be more happier with a guy that was."

Play from 7:09[7:09]" Going to ask you that -- when you're looking at a young player are you more concerned. With their willingness to prepare almost -- the results out on the field at this stage show me that -- going to work show me -- going to be in the weight -- going to be in the film room that's sort of thing."

Play from 7:23[7:23]" We have as part of his job title mean to come in and work hard and shut up and -- and actually our mentality is veterans who mean you know. You you don't have to say a lot you just -- in and work hard and -- my ability take care of business and that's what. You know the the young guys are required to do that's -- the veterans -- record to do and what you know coach expects all of you on -- just got I think that he's been with the ones -- for. Three we are going to start every pre season games with the ones probably like a week camp and you know the kids not going to beat them a belt -- Celtics dumping and."

Play from 7:58[7:58]" Yeah I expect a lot of and -- in cellphone and he expect a lot of out of out of himself I mean we come to sideline and there's even. A mystery that he has or something like that he's he's asking me questions and in terms of what -- juicy I mean. And what what would you have done on this reader Europe in my position that he knows I've played it before so and his expectations for himself very high council."

Play from 8:20[8:20]" Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison brought to you by TD BankNorth banking it's faster easier and hassle free. Rodney in your case you've been kind of working your way back into the regular lineup here as you pointed out to a last week. Getting better physically every day is that the sort of thing or is a veteran. You may feel I don't know that I need for pre season games to get ready for more regular season or at this stage in my career."

Play from 8:43[8:43]" As a veteran I mean has run -- or -- I just a likely four balls so. Mom whenever a coach wants me to play him I'm ready to play you know I'm not hurt or I'm not injured. So it really doesn't matter I can't control how many games I play all -- can do as I'm healthy -- scared to play I'm always prepared to play sixty minutes. And 43 for four pre season games -- I have no control that and that's what what are you guys happy for -- is Daniel. Of course he's -- great friend tomorrow I mean he was soldier here he worked his butt off and he went outdated old fashioned where he -- it. Of course and be happy for a guy we saw him come on grow up. In to a mature young man a guy that on -- out there and and made a lot of plays continue to make plays and you know we love mark -- little brother."

Play from 9:32[9:32]" and you fans feel differently obviously manager of the reaction in the stadium to him when he made the first it on law and then. -- them all the time throughout the course the night there -- pretty hard and they look at him as. -- turn Carter after the money or whatever you know fans put on that. And I think that's crazy personally am the guy work that hard to get out one payday if he's not get it here what he expected to do."

Play from 9:54[9:54]" As a as a fellow team and I are are on him before before the game now one of two men two things that -- you know -- are still here -- congratulations because I submit that he was happy and he got everything in the -- he wanted and that's all you can hope for hopeful when he when your friends you know he was. With our friend when he was here and he went out there he. He he went through the process of the franchise tag to reach whatever that the restricted free agency whatever it was that that he had to go through to get two free agency. You know he he got through -- it comes around and when a player."

Play from 10:26[10:26]" Rodney do you feel -- this pre season as a whole again I'm taken results automatic. Work the things you guys accomplished the things you've been working on it and this pre season has gone the way you wanted to do so far."

Play from 10:38[10:38]" I mean -- Arnold. I don't look at it like that I look at it as. You know you can't that's nearly a -- how well you play by you know the points and pre season game it's about. Getting better about can only you know being -- communique from the standpoint. Do want different things we got different guy different positions. So for me canned a fairly -- summon up. But of course we can get better a lot of different areas and we will get better army who have time. We worked in our butts off -- film -- we're communicating a lot we're talkin' back it's Canadian Mike and daily as -- were back there you know trying to figure out what we need to do to get to that next level you're going to think Tom Brady not being on the field. Impact to the the -- of the team I mean -- because look over -- you know he's not playing all the difference -- a night game that impacts and -- power for hours."

Play from 11:28[11:28]" The question the question mental toughness and that's and I would I would I would question his team's mental toughness. And some things that we've gone through some things that we need to persevere through. And still win football games. I think we're -- with the score and a that that would."

Play from 11:47[11:47]" Last week of the National Football League players association. Lost its head gene Upshaw passed away after area a battle with the pancreatic cancer. Rodney as a veteran and a guy's been around this league for a long time all of his legacy be for the players' association."

Play from 12:02[12:02]" I mean that he was a tremendous man that he worked his butt off me he was very influential. And change in the game the collective bargaining agreement and this that this guy. He out of the heat -- title and he treat people fair and and you know he had a lot of criticism but. The man -- is very intelligent man very articulate and he was well respected around the league so I think you -- gives the public as well as you know. Football players an opportunity to appreciate prospective. You know any day you gotta tell allow your loved ones that you level that you careful because. You know tomorrow's not promised Boris -- your thoughts on gene Upshaw."

Play from 12:41[12:41]" Yeah he was he was -- trailblazer I mean in terms of what we have now players in terms of of playing early in our careers and achieving that free agency that we are talking about. He was a -- big reason why that the players the players have some of them the benefit that we have right now and -- will be greatly missed."

Play from 12:57[12:57]" Talk about back to the games will put the reds on defense. -- yards and and plays that you gave up for the first happy to tighten up in that first series -- each of you got your hands on the ball. In the end zone down -- they are you still think I mean most people look at that being more important part. Of defense period media -- the bend but don't break thing about the defense for years. That is essential lot of run."

Play from 13:19[13:19]" Yeah I mean that that was definitely a point of effort is going -- this year comments -- training camp and even in on mini camps making sure that. Amare red zone defense is on that improves I mean we couldn't get any worse than last year. But I think I think we're right on the right page on the break communication. You know Teddy got his hands on the ball it if you and a."

Play from 13:40[13:40]" Blocked a priority in -- set -- If you screw -- again. A lot of overall -- than go to build on positive and we need to continue. I would wonder about that we if you're in the back Indies got it and are you yell at old well let it go now that that is always give -- the ball everywhere -- there was -- Eugene Wilson. Literally was Eugene ripping an interception out of your hands. As either go to as a player and yeah but. About. Oh. Those two plays by the way Rodney tipping away a pass intended for LJ Smith and Teddy tipping away a pass intended for LT and well in the all part of our McDonald's defenses -- the game stop the game brought you by McDonald's I'm one minute are you every Elena don't argue it. -- always -- were all -- more questionable for a week ago."

Play from 14:37[14:37]" Arm you have to treat this fourth preseason game more seriously than you might fourth -- usually get up and the bench from we know how it goes -- here in the fourth preceding game. But given the given what you haven't done in the first rate you feel. There's more of emphasis on doing something good going into the regular season momentum a."

Play from 14:56[14:56]" It did a year getting into your kids you know I mean. Today or like away and get in the -- sort of preparation which you do for four regular season game treat it like that and -- the coming days after that game like a regular game that you get momentum going into the regular. We will handle it in terms of the past three games compared to how we should prepare harder for the game they prepared me. Three and hopefully put -- better."

Play from 15:25[15:25]" It was not that -- silly sense of urgency run need to have some good results on the field to field the team going to need it. I mean we're not panic you know I mean you sound like you got a panic you'll -- part of me again I mean. You want to go into a regular season that being out scored as a starting unit that -- 49 what this like this is a great great opportunity for -- against the Giants on tremendous all fans on tremendous in one who will last year though anytime you get a chance to get out there and get on the -- mean that you use for. I think -- depth look at it in to a the following week and into camp that he will we get right what we do it wrong and to honor. You won't have any clothes for David Tyree before the game or anything."

Play from 16:08[16:08]" Now guess not there's a story here that I want to get a lump that on day erotic I tried talking about it earlier bowl live for another day -- It was a time -- it was reported you're going to write the interrupt our daily blog easier -- in their ego Rodney Harrison Tedy Bruschi we appreciate time is always guys thank you very much."

John Lynch On-Field Interview - 8/15/2008

New England Patriots safety John Lynch addresses the media during his on-field interview on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Gillette Stadium. Q: Can you talk about how you ended up signing with the Patriots? JL: I don’t know how exactly it went down but I was obviously flattered when there was an interest. This was a place where it nearly happened four years ago when I went to Denver [Broncos]. I was extremely impressed then and I have always admired this organization from afar. You come out here and you have star players all over with Randy Moss, Tom Brady, [Mike] Vrabel, [Tedy] Bruschi, Rodney [Harrison], you can go on and on with guys like [Richard] Seymour and [Vince] Wilfork. To me, the thing that has always impressed me the most is the way they play the game. I think they play it the right way. They embody the sense of a team as well as anyone. That has led to their success and I think everybody in the league wants to be part of that. Never did I think…I thought Denver would be my last spot but things happen and I am happy to be here. Q: Any big surprises on your first day at practice? JL: No big surprises. I think that I functioned well on such little sleep. I was out here early in the week and then I went home and discussed it with my family. I felt good about the decision. I came back and learned the playbook in one night. I got through it pretty good and it was a good first day. Q: Do you think you can still be an ‘every down’ player? JL: We will see. I think if you produce, things like that happen. That is what I will do. I will just try and come out here and be the best that I can be and see where that leads us. Q: What was the reason for parting ways with Denver? JL: I am just looking forward to being here for all the reasons I said earlier. This is a place where they utilize veteran guys very well. When someone has a track record, you are interested in being a part of that. I am extremely excited about being here. Q: Would ...
