I would -- sport without forward try to bring Larry Johnson. How did you assess at least initially the -- your defense yesterday against Chiefs. Well I think we -- it upon ourselves"...

Play from 0:00[0:00]" Hey mister Bruschi good morning -- good he's important to Michael Phelps hopes and everything Abdullah helps fever and you know. Or repair on the Olympics -- tournament that I get a -- When we went to -- where you went through it into the left it's it's the most I've ever watched Summer Olympics. That this women volleyball I was I I've made sure to take some table tennis. Actually that was that was -- living -- Kenneth -- incredible run countries and techniques to beat the guys how they had to serve with their elbow and we've got a ping pong table at home and into the service knows those nights as a guy who beat the Nowitzki didn't. Well I know what we're gonna ask you about throughout the batter and and and this team has had to go forward without you in the lineup. Yeah are you prepared to go forward without Tom Brady in the lineup but that's what --"

Play from 0:52[0:52]" I've only heard what's been speculated -- that of of course that is the other and C -- that's -- speculated right now has as coach or coach Belichick addressed the team know so we are not sure what has happened I know that. A coach that there is some tests that have to be done today. But until those until those tests that have come on we've got a definite this does this is the way it's going to be. You know I'm I'm not -- I'm not going to say that I'm when I'm looking from -- city he's going to be out because until it black and white for me you know that's that's that's I'm just going to wait and see but. I think Matt Cassel came in meaning we we've had injuries before you know to myself to rod needs. Guys along the offensive line. You know so we we're we're used to dealing with with adversity read read that you used to -- to deal with controversy also I mean of all last year so. No I think we're mentally tough team so if the situation presented itself if if -- got to be our quarterback who will back him."

Play from 1:43[1:43]" They obviously have to be talented to play honestly. Well it could just give people an idea of the mentality -- for example houses in the Matt Cassel this morning any sounded. Like he wanted to be in this position if you want Tom Brady to be hurt but he sounded like he was ready for the task. If -- if you don't have that mentality this game of this while you want to yeah I think the one thing we. We really impress upon the younger guys that back -- players to back -- Mike linebacker all the way to the backup quarterback kids be ready ago. Be ready to go when your number's called and -- even though and even in practice when they say that's a scary guy Gary guys get some reps for me I'm what it would make sure he's doing his job but he knows what. He knows with the -- knows what to do because you never know what can happen so. We we we've -- that mentality upon our younger players because there weren't -- and we expect no drop off which again."

Play from 2:35[2:35]" I think people who want your locker room have heard some of the comments over the last. Eighteen hours in it almost sounds heartless and it's not meant that way as you said you're prepared for the fact that people are gonna get hurt. Friends of yours teammates of yours guys are gonna get hurt you like god forbid get hurt. And and guys -- just young it's drilled into them you've got to go forward no matter who it is."

Play from 2:57[2:57]" Right I mean what are tickets you this way. It comes out I'd be greatly disappointed and of course I want him to be our quarterback for every single game this season. Is that going to happen -- won't find out soon enough but. Tom -- also tell you this you know whoever's in there whether whether Randy Moss is in thereafter Wes Welker is in around I mean he's going to. Count on that that that third or fourth or fifth receiver like. You know he's supposed to be there and I think that's the way we have to look at it and that's the way we always look at. And you're huge football fan you can. And try to watch some of the shows if you get a chance to watch him. What did you think when you saw the play from and you probably can have a chance to study it during the game but come on after the see in the play. I know as a defensive player I fight and fight and I fight even after last -- even if I have to crawl in scratched to make -- tackle to make quarterback pressure. That somehow alter throw something like that. And it in my mind it looked like that's what he was doing I -- Sammy was on his back he's crawling -- he wants to make a play. -- I think he would intentionally want that want to hit Tom right there I don't think -- Yeah I thought so too I mean. It didn't look like he was trying to you know take his -- out but if you're in that position. Me what you can you can speak is better than we can't give him blocked. As it -- play the play is still going on in your mind and I'm still okay if he's blocking me like this I'm still trying to get the quarterback -- as a defensive player is that something if there is if there was Larry Johnson in front of me and he was he was -- fight for -- yards and and Brian -- was on my back trying to block -- their offensive guard number 54 in had to crawl in and -- to get there and there are solid. I would -- sport without forward try to bring Larry Johnson. How did you assess at least initially the -- your defense yesterday against Chiefs. Well I think we -- it upon ourselves to really make it make an effort to be good in the red area to -- to begin in the red area. Now you know not not get better at the red area as the season goes along and keep telling guys you know -- work on this -- does that work on this so. To really win the game in the red area like that you know do some positive things in the rated fourth down the NC and -- commitment to play like that and I was playing -- down there I think that's the biggest positive I'm going to take away from it. I mean there -- other positives to I think the interior part of our defense against that the better tackle a tackle running backs in the league I think we did well also -- in the red area deep and it's something we've been we've been -- and and I think that's a positive I can take away from yesterday in."

Play from 5:30[5:30]" love the effort of O'Neal. Just to make the stop five I mean it wasn't like to play in Denver but it was you know. It could've been instead of a 68 yard play and first and goal at five could have been a 73 yard playing against -- yeah I'll take you inside of art and."

Play from 5:44[5:44]" This out of our meat and sometimes when we're watching film and we and we see plays like that from other teams doing that in and we see you know we -- sixty yard gain or fifty yard gain in the guy gets tackled on the five we point out the guy that made the effort to make that tackle at five at five because. Even if they scored the next play it gave your defense a chance to play red area defense and try to get stopped and enforcement to maybe -- four points by force them to a field goal or you know like we did win the game. Teddy I think for the twentieth consecutive years you've been named to team captain if -- happen for a long time what does it mean to you when you were. Your teammates and stuff like Bill Belichick says okay Tedy Bruschi your captain your teammates decide this wasn't me. It's it means a lot because it's it's it's the voice of the team in a lot of times you don't. You know we don't really vote on issues we don't really vote on what play we should run with what he's -- we should run but we vote on a one thing you know probably only once a year and that's done. You know what voices they want to be. -- to represent the team as you can see that there are changes there's changes every year with -- Since being the camp this year and Randy -- camp this year and that might also be captain this year so. For me to consistently -- them I'm very proud of it it's something that I take very seriously. And if there's anything you know the guys know if there's anything they want to -- meet -- ago you know sometimes in the concourse six girls so. In obviously want to do that but here's here's an interesting question a trivia question for which which team captain has it. What only person that that's the team captain is the only captain of all three Super Bowl championship teams."

Play from 7:23[7:23]" Larry Izzo is correct the and I."

Play from 7:28[7:28]" I did I don't know you can gradually very what do you do when he's named captain because that means he's. That's that's that's the one guy that that's represented the special teams for all three championship teams ever since he's got his his 2001 and that's you know that's another captain that that. And we're we're proud to have leading myself so."

Play from 7:45[7:45]" I was gonna ask you about teams play as well because that was kind of a sore spot in the pre season and I know how important Bill Belichick thinks it is and how much effort -- Healy puts into it. I would think brad would be pretty happy with how his teams played overall yeah."

Play from 7:59[7:59]" in the one drive went when they -- to school with they were able to score on us when in I believe those. A Damon Damon. Girlfriend Damon Huard came to sort through the oh I think it was gone on the inside pattern -- and scored a touchdown -- we will we're there we were in the red area and stressed mistress we wanted to get that stop what they scored so. I went over kickoff team was it's just just just ask them just answer that force because we call the kickoff return team I mean to get overturned you sort of be -- team because. The kickoff returns always is it's only you have an opportunity to do that on on the kick -- four after a score. You know so after a score they really have an opportunity answer on the kickoff return I think -- brought -- around midfield and that they're really hated it would have -- field position for so that was a big thing."

Play from 8:42[8:42]" boy Ellis had a 51 yarder on -- he did my best returner and Harris also Ellis also -- to be put a force on the interception he stepped in front of that route and -- Underrated we expect a lot of things that. Completely underrated player should this article please do the best are the -- never regret. The group that he is an underrated today this thing goes to stop it's just thought they and you feel -- American flags and what it was definitely let the moment it's past. But that you know how I was gone for this. That the last couple weeks and maybe you've been on with us. But before I went on vacation he's gonna lie I noticed added with let this thing at times I'm 110 and I ordinary that. Andre Tippett said before --"

Play from 9:28[9:28]" Right after his camping trip -- and how great it was to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He said you guys gave him a great sendoff than Bill Belichick says some things and he said Mike Vrabel and Tedy Bruschi system they've got me a little. I got a little emotional focuses some of the things had to say what did you say that they really got. Well -- really moved I said a few things that I want to to address the guys and I it. I think I -- have a -- so -- have a have a good relation relationship with -- about love -- around the locker room every comes in me. You know just. Talking with him a little bit I think the one thing I said to there's there's there's good reason why he can't -- 56 and you coming here. He can't we're 56 because that meant he was then topless. But the meat and it because that meant that there where that number in this. And that momentum and -- them can never be touched by another linebacker because he did so well. I was one of things that said and that -- is proud of them tip. To have just one of those guys you look to and even now I know I feel -- I feel comfortable knowing I can always go up -- he can always come down you know I I think column in and I can bounce things off of."

Play from 10:33[10:33]" And let's be honest most days doesn't look like he could still. Kick your butt if he wanted to just shake his -- again for the sake -- and -- hands or purchasing -- yellow -- squeezes and that and you'll -- goodness nobody there was this guy that I -- that is a big man and who could do some damage. -- it's good to see if we're going to bring tiny in here for a second but it's great to see in the community again thanks thanks thanks Tedy Bruschi joining us on that. Patriots Monday and."
