And welcome -- the playbook for Wednesday here on Patriots dot com --"

Play from 0:37[0:37]" You know John -- here as we work on game winning three for the Patriots and the pats take on Miami Dolphins. At Gillette Stadium coming up this Sunday 1 PM eastern time this going to be a good one today I I've just gotta good feeling about this one today because. Quite well first of all we say hello to Mike -- from Patriots football weekly who sticks around and -- for the opening our program Wednesday's. Mike it would do we learn anything from PFW today I mean that we make any big revelations or any huge you don't news groups that I need to know about."

Play from 1:08[1:08]" joked yeah. Who Italy reveal too much and -- hot I would take anything I'm here from those two hours and applied here today and you know. He had played like about the last throughout new memory. -- live in the first thought he heard yet they still ahead a host of Phillip -- yet there really was an abomination that we want our at all not at all not at all our our reader feedback are -- and if -- not -- was not good it is hot and cold they're they're they're being too tough one I'll I'll pay attention to the media John. I don't read in the paper is on a listen to it's not a with the with the radio you know I don't -- him up and how long have you been in the media. Who went over the years yes via a burglar might have a two outs yeah I've learned Tyler in the -- and -- seven years."

Play from 1:58[1:58]" It. -- that want to deal with they're by the way Michael we would have scintilla for the first on the program today and there are 3 o'clock or one and only Vick -- that you have to -- come -- on the program and Milosevic and the conference calls with the Dolphins will hear from Chad Pennington and Dolphins coach Tony Sparano now and opportunities that gives you bit of the agenda but right off the bat I I've kind of went through last night several web sites in. All of deal with football in everybody's got their favorite right I think last year evened it up. We've ended an email question you know what's your favorite you know football website over the Patriots. Nothing but be somewhat self serving -- right. -- And we got you know the usual unit -- com is good in pro football talk dot com is good in football injuries dotcom era and several really good ones which is point. I have to admit though that just about every football website it's out there has some kind of -- kind of power rankings. Don't you think -- everybody land on Sports Illustrated doctors this is on our thinking you know everybody's got to fixation with who ranks best I mean it's sort of I guess that the whole continuation of the you know college topped 45 everybody. You know considers you know the AP top 25 in the USA today top 25 as being the Bible and it's fun to talk about. In and I guess sort of gauge the relative strengths of teams collegiate -- because you don't really have a true championship game. Although some would say the -- is that what you know it gives you a lot of and they always debate and yet only -- always room for debate and so when the NFL. Began to become more widespread than it already is with its. You know proliferation of web sites out there. They decided to follow on the collegiate model even though of course the unifil has a playoff system at a very good -- in place and they only allow their top twelve teams. In the playoffs which I think certainly gives a lot of credibility. To the regular season and you know wouldn't hurt I think they let -- two more teams in per conference but that's another story for another day. What I'm getting to here is that every football website now has their own version of these power rankings. Because people haven't fans have a fixation with who was the best who is number one and who is the last 32 out of 32. We know white just from having covered this team with a less of yours that you know the Patriots have been up at the top of most of the power rankings for the last several years. Just because of what they've done on the field and perhaps deservedly so although it was a time I think it was in oh. For. During the last Super Bowl year where they spent some time. Out of the top spot. A lot Patriots fans took offense. And I think the Patriots were able to utilize some of that is the whole you know boulder on the shoulder thing right the whole load disrespect. And sort of along those lines today. I went and checked into 34 by six different web sites and that have power rankings that I knew right off the bat you know -- that I know that -- I need that he's right. Not one of them. Not one of them last night anyway and I haven't checked there were three -- them to two of them that I did not check yet again today -- last night. But not one of them had the Patriots ranked in the top ten. And -- well actually the last I checked that was one of them they had the ninth okay night. But. You just for an example here in this part of the reason why I'm really glad we have recruit you because and that they'll dot com does you know their power rankings to. In they have the Dallas Cowboys rank number one which is I really have no argument based on what we saw that Monday night game fantastic game. Open down the field you know that the two deep -- should be ashamed of themselves -- pedigree. You know can't argue the offense they can score they can move the ball -- exciting to watch. And of course the ratings in general -- talk but it's not that the ratings with the highest rated -- television program on cable ever. It beat out no kidding I did you know that it beat out the Patriots Ravens game last December -- at their record -- every year is it just me. No it's not just view it does seem like it falls every year but I think it just it it adds credibility -- the fact that the NFL is still -- and eighties on top of all of sport right now surrounding this globe that we live on the National Football League has overtaken well overtaken baseball and anything else that is there and includes soccer I mean I realize that we a lot of listeners from Europe and Asia in in in all over especially a lot from mom from England. And I know that you know via the foot over there is is very popular as Willie should because it's played at a very high level -- the National Football League. At least certainly in America and I think it's it has continued to catch on elsewhere which -- disappointed that in a two year old to be honest with you but. It is it's it dominates here in this country. And that football game money between the Cowboys Eagles was the top rated cable television program of all time which is just it's stupid but it was. Now the Cowboys are ranked number one in the NFL dot com powering. The Patriots. Are not number two nor the three or they five nor are they tendon nor are they twelfth. They have the top twelfth ranked. And they haven't under the heading of in the hunt. You know teams that I believe they feel like can contend right right then they have middle of the pack and then they have need work. The Patriots at two and now. Are in the middle the pack. And that the only to an old team. That in the middle of."

Play from 7:45[7:45]" Well I would say that probably is predicated on the fact that Tom -- here anymore though -- as you -- the Titans -- Beat and he is now with the backup quarterback as well on Kerry Collins though you gotta put Tennessee. -- know the Tennessee Titans ranked ninth -- adding that little that can give you a few examples of war I think this thing is really out of whack yes."

Play from 8:08[8:08]" Okay. On NFL -- common interest of over fans who have surfed over there are you know. Saying what -- you know right when they look at it the Buffalo Bills. Are ranked fifth. The Titans are not the Colts at seven at one on one. Of course they're going to miss Bob Sanders now for six weeks that was the story today out of Indianapolis. Width of the high ankle sprain. Colts rank seventh. I'm here are rated Cowboys won Giants to know -- no qualms -- that Rios packers' three. Panthers four bills five Steelers. Colts Broncos. Titans Saints. That's the top ten."

Play from 8:52[8:52]" I'm not sure how the Colts in the top ten. At one and one and barely at one and one that we got a victory over Minnesota which I think highly overrated begin about Arizona Cardinals ranked twelfth. Ahead of the Patriots. You know that maybe that could be the surprise element there you know it they with Arizona and Buffalo both to a -- had very good point differentials right now it scoring a lot of points. And not allowing a lot of points of the -- are doing as they're -- winning right now if these two weeks winning these close. Relatively low scoring games and probably of people looking at that not all that impressed because it'll -- driving people hold on to the team -- last year. They at the bar so -- they're going sixteen you know breaking point record in the NFL. And now is being to a know with two close part always apparently is not enough to crack the top and power. I think I think that's where come on I'm not justifying and I think that that I agree with that because I don't right now. All to meet her all the got to put top ten. There's 1234578910. Undefeated team. Right those with the top ten a let somebody has -- really really -- good at one and one. And right now the one of one team who has -- Korea with the Jets haven't looked Korea want to won the Indianapolis no Oakland obvious not. Philly maybe need to you could put Billy over and arizonans while. Billy is a superior team to Arizona or who period humid and easily even out one and one out put billionaire. Which you put Chicago win or New Orleans not into roses -- as the world has allowed more points are scored."

Play from 10:23[10:23]" At one and one. If you want to put the -- teams in their I have no problem put the bills in the top twelve to 21 because they are -- well but I don't know how the Patriots become only -- team. Put in and ranked in the middle the pack in the ranked in the middle the pack with a couple teams that are all into in Jacksonville and Minnesota."

Play from 10:40[10:40]" Yet and it depends on your interpretation of our rankings are is how good they are now always is he long term. Does Mike get people think long term that is not going to last. Right to know but it didn't kind of data don't have Brady and so when a couple of them three of war because we don't think there one of the four or five best teams. And then at the prom I have. ET and updated every week -- do it base on what happened that week eat you can't look ahead to the next week and while that I probably lose this game with a -- lose. A few here and there though which is going to bump them down while when they do lose those cute then he can bump them down."

Play from 11:14[11:14]" While that's why I think you know because they each each of these holes and again it's all conjecture and it's all it object out of it is just a gift just came in part it's harder on the -- but writers think it's supposed to be a snapshot. Of each of these teams and where they they rank relative to everybody else after last week's games. That's really supposed to be yet not based on what long term prognosis would be. I can almost see it if you kept to that particular standard but the problem that I have here in this is what I think you know we talked about last week. Where did the Patriots should benefit from this because -- so good at turning this around and using it to their advantage. The Patriots could look at this as they -- huge now because again. Here's you know all of these people that supposedly know what the heck they're talking about. Not giving any credit where credit may be due to the defense. To Matt Cassel certainly two Randy Moss to Bill Belichick to anybody on this team thinking that -- just because again Tom Brady is down this team can't possibly be any good to an outlaw."

Play from 12:15[12:15]" All I ask you what comments are in. Under those are rankings of the NFL dot com John. John yes this is NFL dot com power rankings yesterday okay -- look at right now to kind of -- what you can usually put a liner to to kind of just by their reasoning for. I'm just curious as to what they had to say about the Patriots and and why they maybe twelve wide and happy heart and."

Play from 12:38[12:38]" Baron well he only has comments that to the top twelve at -- and then he's got the Patriots lumped in the middle the pack. On in alphabetical order behind the Jacksonville Jaguars Minnesota Vikings. Chicago Bears Baltimore Ravens Atlanta Falcons."

Play from 12:53[12:53]" I mean don't get to Barrett's people that because I think on a national level. A lot of credit has been given away deep and played it's likely the -- they've had two key ops in as many weeks. And also credit to special teams well we saw even how's he doing on the phenomenal. The -- call or field goals and I've -- back six and kick off went into the end zone and going down brought out Leonel Austin dropped the twenty yard line -- even thrown. So they dominate on special teams and for all intents and Burke dominated on the fans. And that enemy -- has doubled he's out there when you have great field position every time and as deep -- go out there and they're not starting a drive -- twenty yard line. Result -- you know it was a great team victory I think there has been credit given to that. And that's the biggest thing right now Bowen but -- like doing reflecting here -- well not because not reflecting in the national perception of his team probably not because what happens that and national levels -- looking at all 32 teams that they've taken things -- the most. You know it's taken a big game breaking play our player who comes out in. You know maybe catches three touchdowns -- game it's going to be -- the eye popping having to grab national headlines. Winning methodically into winning. Close in the games where you to dominate in in you sort of I want to eighteenth in Tokyo in on the -- but when you do that. It doesn't a lot of attention nationally really doesn't. Okay well and maybe it'll take then not yet right now that's right -- that -- that I think that's the thought process on the national level. Okay there and there are a lot of surprises like Denver -- surprised a lot of people myself included. Arizona tune oh pretty good or right now that's why I think that in the national attention because the Cardinals have never been good. That's now on the -- you know then are we although it was going to be terrible Denver is now -- you know tennis eat with everything that happened what Vince Young. Mears -- another game. And their got us started yet and I are going to get it in the building to a no big prize you know. You gotta -- do something different I think it to get the national attention that's been good a year as everybody knows they're good I think sometimes you under the radar. Well."

Play from 14:56[14:56]" That may be the case and and that's kind of where I was going with today's question of the day and get the email address web radio at. Patriots dot -- addresses the PFW in progress but its web radio -- Patriots dot com. 5 wait 5437482. Is the telephone number if you want to. Join in the conversation but I would ask you other than the Patriots what team has impressed you with their start. So if you can give me say your number one in your own power rankings best team in the NFL right now. And what team has surprised you the most with their start fair enough for question that I."

Play from 15:33[15:33]" What has surprised me the most would probably be Buffalo via I -- does not -- I I'd never been big on Buffalo. To a no right now we'll see where they go who's been the most surprise -- probably and I'm going to go Dallas IL already out of my number one right now combo. I am a real stickler for you know until they until they're beaten the championship stay at top so I think that certainly. Means that the Giants deserve consideration we giant offense we've been very impressive offensively -- left point on the field. But defense -- they've picked up and left off -- I Umenyiora and Strahan and a lot of people ought to have a hard time with that and so far the exact numbers are all there so. And that's another team again has been a threat of age now we do have a phone call -- coming in are no Johnny Miller info John how are you."

Play from 16:18[16:18]" Yet played a good job. Called it earlier PFW do you know that you -- great job hosting it suggest. Thanks I appreciate that three million. Hey we analytical round Lowe going here -- positive feedback -- actual ground and air you know right this is a real -- on time -- What's on my today."

Play from 16:40[16:40]" Well I got that. -- of that or Marty. First one and it's Buffalo's and he. A great story. He's going. That would make you happy what I thought that maybe the Patriots to be totally out of it but we want to -- to win the division. But. You know let -- sit still think they did well you're the -- injury. There's another good practicing like and they're getting some guys back the young guys that injured -- not that surprised that there. Well I I was really. I was kind of practice Jackson."

Play from 17:17[17:17]" Yeah I was Eli put Jacksonville would come back to lose in the opener and it's applause then I thought the acting thousand dollars and yeah so I mean. I assumed that -- of a pretty good comeback victory for the Jaguars and I put the bait -- fans than it is in -- on Sunday Buffalo has scored. 54 point 22 weeks at a plus twenty point difference at that that's that's among the that actually knew as the best in league isn't your time. Plus 3757. Points courts when he allowed."

Play from 17:48[17:48]" Let me get your questions -- when. I'd I totally ridiculous your philosophy. Putting it shouldn't your allegiances -- and -- not about. But because you're working for the Patriots. And that you think. What is your what your. View one that."

Play from 18:12[18:12]" There's about a mile away really makes no difference. -- the I think and I are often small newspaper in Woonsocket. When I came out and oncology in 2001 and to me it was easier took over the team not being it. I wasn't ready with my heart. -- ready to give an object of announcers here is what I eat from the looking. Never grew up watching what football I don't watch in the giant never really cared much -- the Patriots did so if there was no emotional that -- in army. Look at what they hated like he now covering them and I was on the road five years 22 -- And those of the best football teams that are because those are among the best teams that are. A lot of fun no question about it now I don't -- is what their watch in on what happens I hope for a good game. Particularly on who you want to cover the game -- to read about it you want the great to write about. Absolutely get a lot of great games of the year right about the combat or even a blowout. Of those big gains they come off a week at her -- somebody out those are fun story that's purely move for the -- rate for you root for a good or."

Play from 19:17[19:17]" But -- also suggest here that. When you coverage team for a extended period of time it becomes easier to root for the story. And oh yeah. In effect it almost seems like you're rooting for the team to do well because you can create better stories out of an even though you may not necessarily. Be rooting for the team but thats kinda how it Indians up evolving."

Play from 19:38[19:38]" you go back to last year whatever happened the last it was a great -- when they go in early lose the last game. Great theater one way or the other -- and declare by me working for the amount the means you have to be at the end of the team that that's how you equate to do. You need to give your objective and tell. You what I. Hopefully they -- the -- at some point do this you know for three or four weeks hopefully some of those things that made."

Play from 20:06[20:06]" One quick point about Maroney. But sometimes the dancing thing is a little bit of problems because all the time I'd -- twice that. The film room right. I was sitting. What I -- sometime last year yeah sometimes he -- in line but sometimes you get in England because they're defensive lineman -- exactly right. And sixteen to eight especially digging in the past week I mean obviously I'd get. Like they'll -- coaching staff this agreed to -- a -- bench. But I kept seeing what I'd -- they offense like this happens to a lot of the run the feeling. Not get it done and that aren't too late guide in the back."

Play from 20:50[20:50]" Beyond he's going to figure under the current you have to watch every play individually you why he was through waves doing. With their four guys -- that you play it as a big hole or trading at edit but he did and that's the problem. I think we will accused -- which he with a -- trying to make have been pigeon -- now as a guy and it all time. And for whatever you we don't really -- to look -- why he's doing and that isn't fair time now north of play that game on and they were he probably could hit the whole bit harder. Thank you let them opportunities out there put -- is the line protection breaks down the holes on open company that -- cutback and it doesn't always work out that way but. I think people do expect a little bit more from him on the -- as him being benched or not put back in the game. I'm not sure the reason behind that some of the guys that show the -- and punishment. I just think at the time Jordan was part of the ball well. Why why the Jets had no answer for Jordan team to the legend -- there's absolutely nothing to the shoulder. Although he was not there the practice field today okay now we don't -- on Wednesday are rather tomorrow. Actually Friday. Equipment again on Friday when the actual injury report comes out what it was -- status and we'll see what happens they'll keep he's out there tomorrow as well. I think there wasn't into the shoulder. The guys on PFW progress we talked about yesterday in the United immediate part it was at the -- you know are you hurt or are you injured. Which is and maybe he wanted to be more durable and I felt I I don't know I --"

Play from 22:20[22:20]" Actually that's I don't amazed that that's the biggest probably point from -- and that's what we talked about -- they show and one of the biggest problems that I have been. And a lot of other people have with Lawrence is the fact that he just does not seem to be. Durable and because of that he won't really be the every down. Thousand yard type Russia that the Patriots a look at where he could be a great addition a good compliment. If you have him and LaMont Jordan and having wars together in the -- each go over five or 600 yards. You know on the season -- pretty good but then you're not going to get an individual that's going to set the -- you know going to get a Corey Dillon type who can be a guy that can be a bell --"

Play from 22:56[22:56]" Type of thing you know -- saying that believed. -- think some people believe that I think a lot of people believe that it's also on my blog well I'd I believe that he is incredibly. Fragile. Yeah it is on its admit that now I certainly admit is that fragile bat that's very true but in terms."

Play from 23:17[23:17]" If you type of back -- having. And I think we saw the second half let's just leave guys who can be out regularly twelve to 1400."

Play from 23:27[23:27]" Well I don't ever -- healthy enough we like he's I don't think he will be here. At a big big -- play well the post season now can he do that we. Know that -- comes to -- 1200. Certainly not elbow and going to do now what is third year yes I mean a point you know as a first round pick. He's got to come through in its that's -- I have round pick it's that he's got to stay healthy and he right now is not able to do that -- let them watch -- here and what has not been healthy. That's also true that in your home. You can certainly make a legitimate complaint against Benjamin Watson and he is quote unquote their ability it's not there right now I think he's gotten better Maroney that is. And hitting on the whole I think we've seen him better. And attacking the hole rather than dancing the side -- I great time to time Michael that you just said he does have a tendency to do better and a lot of that bigot because the blocking -- You know I I do think there's a reason why they kept by running back let's put it that way. They're welcome Aaron and -- what they feel it is and any moment Maroney could be out -- it got -- Yeah."

Play from 24:34[24:34]" Because I mean I really like these these rights act and you know I don't. Really care that he doesn't it."

Play from 24:40[24:40]" more of a blocker he may be our goal line guy but he's not immune to buckle that before -- carried the ball the most clearly Paul -- And LaMont Jordan and I think we see what what were the ladies Jordan on on days of great change -- you have a guy run the ball the entire first half animals that are on it because of Rooney's injury but acquitted of fresh back of the third quarter. And I think this cannot be overstated. -- deepen the -- as a guy who especially. BA goes into it and I don't think that --"

Play from 25:12[25:12]" And I look I look Faulk and I would like he Maroney used more in the passing game to every time and they -- Every you know every now and then the last two years that very dining."

Play from 25:22[25:22]" Well he does he does that the Bulls have no but I think that's -- I would I would more often than not give the ball before the ball and -- you'll get the feel there. I mean you know when you have eleven ounces of yeah we have some of -- ability what why would you want to take a chance on somebody who doesn't quite yet measure up I mean if you don't have Kevin Faulk that's another story. -- already has more of the guy who should be getting the tough yards. In addition to using these absolutely -- younger more healthy Larry Johnson who could do both. But probably not beat Maroney you know consistently be in there and get the ball on first and second down is we don't -- yet. We really don't there's no dirt there's no durability factor built -- so I've seen him come in for one play on first down and then -- on second right. So that's why I'm I'm questioning mr. ability. And certainly play cause a lot to do with it but I'd like to see them stick with -- for awhile if if he gave her reason if he gave no reason to stick with him and -- would. They're so competitive."

Play from 26:24[26:24]" That's right. Thank the great update John John intellectual political and he wanted it's good. They go 585437482. 585437482. With a telephone number if you Ottawa. -- with your question as well will will get through it and again the email question that -- has to do with them. Your perception of the best in the league right now just the snapshot. After a couple of weeks -- best team with the topic of your your power ranking and what is the biggest surprise. That could also be in a negative sense. I mean I think we both kind of agreed that Buffalo is -- is certainly a surprise right now yet the Cowboys probably deserved to be up -- probably certainly make a great strong case for the Giants. Especially if you believe in the whole league champions and shall be thrown although didn't seem like they ever did that when the Patriots were champs -- a."

Play from 27:16[27:16]" Well depending on -- have to go back and look but to be on the -- and I agree with your point about the giant today Eric and the Cubs being at Giants homer but. The point differentials -- really a lot. -- gotta admit I'm I'm -- plus 37 and and that really and I don't think anybody really close. And they're going to simulate right now -- note Arizona's plus 31. Those and to Beth and point difference not all -- point different line stand but when you have at this point easily so close and you've only had two week ought to -- team. That's the need to look at a look at how many points scoring how many points allowing and how they -- in those games if you watch both Giants games. They've dominated both games now at the Oregon Washington is logical -- it should have been because point on the field and the speed of guys at the end. But they put away it goes in the second half which they should do though. Right now between them in Dallas I would say probably the two most dominant teams at this point Arizona -- throwing there as well the climate they're like the appointment onus on others -- disappointments. I think to me that the biggest disappointment."

Play from 28:21[28:21]" At least one of the biggest disappointments this point I'm if we look at this from a negative perspective were always negative were the hardest and they -- on the negative here either in the -- on that. No anomaly more so than anybody else or there has not there -- I've had a heck I'd have to throw. I think Cleveland in that mix. I think that that the Jacksonville in that mix well I don't want to and I guess. Probably also San Diego and Seattle and that makes -- Seattle has been decimated by the injury bug. And so there I think did they've got a legitimate reason for being go into but I think it to the all those teams in the disappointed mix."

Play from 28:56[28:56]" Why I put any one because there Superbowl. And they -- mean they got they got hosed on and know what about what you under the Shawne Merriman was was banged up yet admitted that so many Pro Bowl caliber defense players deducting L one pass rusher. Would kill them as much as it apparently it has because it allowed 65 point two games. And they are at a negative three point differential and I think they got screwed on and no question but they'll -- chance to make plays is that game and didn't make them in the -- you can't bury your head in the after that call. And they were always Dawson and his roll over and and it rolled over but they can make plays and Gil Cleveland John I I I could agree and I've never been big on Cleveland. I don't I don't know what to think of Romeo Cardinals coach not thoroughly impressed thus far. -- did not expect much from them by early back little bit more from that well what do you attribute it to succeed. I think they caught fire at the end and -- in in. You know whatever reason they have -- points and move the football that was a big thing defensively I've never been oppressed in this and that and from a guy who. Is it will be a defense coached in -- now. And now right now they love thirty points scored sixteen. -- they have an alien the other factor they have only scored you know sixteen point of -- the hugest. The biggest disappointment because Derek Anderson had an unbelievable year I'm all a little prize and that you Oakland. As badly as needed because we thought we -- to get into. We look at it and -- always -- to come here and play hard fought game and then go to Oakland again in that I'll count on your coach John. You always focus with the determination Oakland accommodate the was in the it is where I thought that prize -- and I thought."

Play from 30:49[30:49]" Here's another team that things are probably -- we've known that mixes -- also seen those ramps they've got all kinds of problems and now. You know you've got -- Scott Linehan already been talked about is being on the hot seat in I was listening today to -- to a national broadcast. We're it's in the George -- Bloomquist who passed away in the season. One opera. Believe it or not apparently want to I don't want to say it was were dying which would want to upper west. Requests all for family you know and taking over the team was that they give Linehan an entire one more season minimum. To try to right the ship because apparently she really liked him a lot. And and now her own son who has taken over the operation that bubble team. Is already saying no I don't think that's going to happen yet group he's dead yeah well we doubt it that's eggs with this thing. -- exactly and and I'm like -- while that is I think some but advocate and and on to add. Through to the problems here you know the Rams for sale yet instilled that team is in a real bad what -- right now and I don't think that people thought it was going to be as bad as it really is -- the rate of -- can be the worst team in the entire NFL and that's instantly fill the chief in the pan there."

Play from 31:59[31:59]" Well you know I hate to say they should go against your own mother's dying -- by you know he's running of this. And it can't legitimately feels that he's the one left front of -- yet and if he feels they're better off without Linehan and who with who we say no. I suppose it might be Reno let the same time there's not enough talent there. There is a talented players but there's not it not count -- Jackson's current player. That we had Torrealba is a game breaker I can't figure how the Rams fell so far so fast out defensively they've never been great they've been good at times and it worked hard over the years to improve that image on the fence they're always considered an -- not only people out. Right even the year they won the Super Bowl. They they are ranked among the top of the fans but that was it was almost like last year's Patriots with at the office -- that even the kind of an off. After a couple of years they were pretty good defense sleep and it went right downhill again there will be peaks and -- that defense and out to two games 79 points out. And yet that unspeakable you know especially as they cannot win football games when you allow three -- point that you nor yet you know now of course."

Play from 33:10[33:10]" That the teams that are you know -- to. Certainly. It's not yet time to panic because the Giants started going to last you know -- in the state consumer culture I think you know we realize that it your all into it doesn't mean it's the death -- All of the teams that are -- into that have the best chance to rebound. And make something out of this season. To me anyway I think he probably have to -- San Diego still want those via. And I'll go out on the limb here and say Jacksonville probably be -- in if there's a third one. Having pick another Owens -- team that might have a chance to pull themselves out of the out of the of this year. I'm gonna say that may be the best chance if they can ever get healthy would be Cia."

Play from 33:52[33:52]" I agree and all three counts on the Seattle's best team because that division means a little -- question or else yeah Arizona's Auckland they -- Arizona I want and I'm surprised teams but again you look at -- regularly. Are there is nearing our -- right -- that you say he -- Arizona and hold outs that the out. Woolsey the jury allow Seattle has their and it got the coaching pedigree with with Holmgren. I think and was on an out in Arizona and I picked him as my coach of the year so much stick with that. But Seattle by no means -- let you go well when you look at Jack so -- I also agree with but there and in division and -- Indianapolis. There with those -- small to be more -- over them right exactly and now. Without Vince young and an annual EP Eric comes back away happens there -- not your whole line that the fans it's great. Probably the best he'd instantly threw two weeks right now and but it can Kerry Collins they had they had to beat. They would have to be even as the 2001 UDE 2000 beauty if you feel cool Baltimore Ravens -- In order to -- Kerry Collins a winner this week."

Play from 35:00[35:00]" Career I think so it's kind of funny because I heard Jeff Fisher on -- obvious the end. Radio earlier today talking about you know the whole Vince Young you know -- you know what a lot of people realizes Vince had an outstanding offseason. And he went on and on about how -- it really taking great strides to being the kind of the only leader but you know. Quarterback that they need in order to win in the which he had improved his arm angle here and it worked on staying in the pocket picking and choosing. Better chances and opportunities which remarkable they didn't want to stifle him -- because it is just unbelievable left lettuce is and what they wanted to do was be smarter with it. And knowing that you know the more you take over and around the more chance from leaving open to getting yourself. Basically killed which is what -- what has happened and of course you have the all he's been frustrating to the frustration. Of going to show that he really has never gone through his entire professional football career. Has led this whole all he's going to be depressed issue and always think about committee's visit and he said that was the not true it was absolutely unequivocally not true however. With the team still winning. And if the team continues to win he's not going to rock the -- so looks like Kerry Collins is going to get the ball for -- what was the Titans continued away. Eric yeah I thought you know I've got to kind of interesting. But it just kind of goes along you know that the whole. You know you know theory of not rocking -- things are going well -- that's what happened the Patriots back in 1 when Drew Bledsoe went down and here's another one for you know and we talked about this kind of laughed about it you know a week ago when we first you know signed -- the season but. You were to Israel the Patriots -- rocket and rowand and Matt Cassel going to roll along what the Patriots get the Super Bowl what they when it. The what do you do next year -- hit until Matt."

Play from 36:46[36:46]" It's on that they keep your services and enjoy your three year deal. That's going to happen. He's I think about it I -- how many more years is Brady under contract for. You know going to government of that one and pass on demand more money he can get -- where he when he total should demand that all players -- to -- at the going to talk about a guy who's motivated here a guy who's motivated contact here and now he's playing. Absolutely is this is a golden opportunity for him make big bucks here. And you're not going to keep too -- quarterbacks here. So here you go Patriots fans have you ever really liked -- Catholic you better enjoy it now -- it will all be better he does the greater the chance tonight here. -- got a great a great email from our pal Indian Vermont who else on back. And out of nowhere anyway but apparently he's back now okay so any rights I keep hearing at the offense is built to be high octane it would pass to into debt. But this is not much different to how they started radio granted then it was a bunch of mediocre receivers that are brown. Keep it a bullet a and I think they'll -- an opening need to. Her defense that really try to set down screens and dump pass has a good arm can chuck it they're not expect him to be Brady that's good. And -- need to -- that the real difference between Brady pass field vision and the ability to decipher that immediately the deep he is learning that. I group that think there is an expensive field vision I think the biggest thing is accuracy. I think has got a great arm. But I think his throws outfielder not quite as -- is Brady's have been in the past."

Play from 38:13[38:13]" Well that will be difficult you know to -- I think it -- you know it's do -- that that that takes reps more than anything else anything else that quarterback. Handle the ball hit the dink and dunk reading defenses. If you want to be accurate at the -- the deep ball you got a full allotment system used. You know. It's the same thing is you know trying to drive the ball 300 yards he takes a heck of a lot of practice."

Play from 38:36[38:36]" I'm encouraged so far though castles built vision in his decision -- because I thought. A lot of people kind of complained of -- Indy held back beans on an idiot throw deep. But they took they try to take grandma's -- game that -- doubled him all day big hit -- more than four and that and you want that's a that's a positive."

Play from 38:52[38:52]" Well you know that's why I kind of laughed when in -- heard a lot of the you know Monday and Tuesday quarterbacking here. Basics and how they kind of pounded down -- could have been further from the truth. You know they that was their game plan and as its coach Belichick explained. I'm Patriots Monday of the Jets rolled a safety over to double him also he was really not anywhere even near being in the play on most downs and so castles and we took advantage of what was -- here. Which is what Wes Welker had the receptions that he is now you'll call or pitches yeah and you recall that you know there were several games last year that that was exactly the case for Brady. Where you know that the short passing was open and they just sliced and -- teams with that and I thought -- pretty good job of recognizing that and frankly. You know here's the other thing people realize that you know Matt is an opportunity now to work -- it. -- for three years coming into this year right three year yes. You worked in his shadow he's he's he's been his apprentice he's worked with him everyday in practice he's been -- every. Team meeting and every quarterback meeting. He's listened to what not only Tom says what Josh McDaniel says what Bill Belichick says with the office of running backs in the receivers say. And he's got a chance to you know put some of those -- practice. On the field in practice for -- but. Now he has his chance to lose. To step up and make it happen for real. Add to this the equation that Tom was around in practice for a little bit last week you know when he was in some of the meetings. And we have ever reasonably that is continued going to continue to be the case this year that he wants to help but he wants to contribute even though he can't contribute on the field which I think will do nothing. Nothing but help Matt Cassel continued to be the best kind of quarterback that he can be not much and he'll be the next Tom Brady. But I think you know I think he's got a lot of things go on form and I don't think he's that type of guy he's a smart kid -- he's got a guy that's going to take too many stupid chances."

Play from 40:46[40:46]" Now and I think to get back two point about bereavement -- him I think that's okay but. I don't think you want him in his -- too much over the course isn't if you kind of want to give him or did the freedom to run the team the way he's running. Has had his opponent you'll generally do that it will because right now -- the -- much has had surgery. Right argue once he does is going to be a recap the year he's going to be coming here walker it down for hours -- it that we get healthy. Right and that's I do I think that it's a good -- a bad I think in in the is going to be -- is going to be that he can have him now to help now. And also the positive is that when he has to leave any game be here. How -- have a chance to do this zone and the he has had an opportunity because that that that helps make you well. No doubt about it and deal at times and asking us about the power rankings and says how the Patriots solo in the encircled ranked higher. Maybe because his office was so we'll laugh and that announcement in back to write about the expectations and I at the bar high one year. And then people often compare you to your former self an -- Italy. I think that happens to him a lot because of their past that. Anything less now than it needed on fourteen to isn't going to be as down a year big drop law and that now is -- because. They may not all they want to be another team you know team this year for the community -- fourteenth and we don't really know."

Play from 42:05[42:05]" Well I agree with the the Saints and legacy should be at. I like the -- either the Colts at a Louis Cardinals should be ahead of them not only gave up I mean if our going to put the Patriots in the rankings right now honestly based on. It's snapshot after week two I think I've put them. Six or 7000 he -- in doing X or have been down here the only one and one -- he cracked the top of the Philly. Yeah Billy -- not yet I would agree with what the reason -- there there is that not only that -- as it. They gave up a lot of points in the Indy gave way to team on Monday night I would think about the Colts. That one and one -- that popped in as well because Peyton Manning literally willed his team that was yet but they looked they were dominated their opener. And the Eagles haven't been dominated yet. That's true they were they have they've -- shooting eighty -- Lewis and a very competitive again now slightly understand the Eagles in that regard era I would do that and -- I would put -- 11 Colts right now. Over row probably over the to a note Titans. Over the to -- Cardinals. Maybe even over the total Panthers. Maybe it. Maybe -- but it he has been dominant defensively and you look at who is the second team we -- that. The Cardinals the Cardinals again dominant defensively great point differential plus 31. They've got a -- played Indianapolis is again. Indy was dominated by Chicago at home and dominated through three quarters by the Vikings before pull that out. Not they have not -- an adult adult now. Well I think it's it it. This is sort of it's it's fun to talk about an -- and I guess we all realize that you know nothing is exact you're -- but -- exact science but. I just the whole thing never ceases to amaze me over how. Perception."

Play from 43:54[43:54]" Exists outside our own little you know -- yeah world here in Patriots nation. How the Patriots are perceived and I think you've got to hit on Mike. Because the Patriots have been so unbelievably. Competitive and in good. Over the -- that anything short of that even though they're two and know which would indicate that they still decent. But anything short of the dominant performances that they had on the field the last few years. Is considered a slight and gives the team's chance and I just you know ways if you do this side by side team by team almost player by player comparison. I think it's a joke that the Patriots are stuck in the middle the pack --"

Play from 44:34[44:34]" Apples you ultimately factor to his is that -- the casual -- Well that's -- are you into bad team and that will not bad teams and yet you're talking about the top playoff team and we -- talk about college basketball RBIs and I would agree with yes and -- bats now -- they yeah I mean I think. Again -- not agreeing with what they're doing but trying to maybe. Happen -- Him yeah I suppose I mean let's face it if if her man I -- think about -- the other day. If there was ever a year for the Patriots get a break on the schedule this what he'd get. After what they had to go through that you know that's why I and so you know while we were maybe -- going schedule little bit. Before the season started -- well you know I mean there's really no reason that they shouldn't win thirteen of fourteen again because the schedules -- easy and the Brady goes down and people -- oldest is seven and nine team or maybe an 818 but I'm like. What are you thinking here. Look at the schedule. Look at the schedule and tell me what you think the losses occur I I frankly did not see I mean and I said this last week we open the -- Mike. I don't think this team as any worse than -- six. I really don't I I was -- and tenants that I was look at that -- United editing as -- at the beginning of the season with Brady at thirteen injury. I don't think -- castle the differences or victories. On thing. I think our base and closer until you're saying that Tom Brady is -- war wins. I don't think -- I think yeah I think we're not given enough credit to the rest of the game in the system in place well that early in -- defense that he can stop people -- on a team that can dominate that yet but here's the thing. What's going to happen you go to the fourth quarter and I am arm on the road when you're down you're trailing. Connect Cassell leads you back one -- go there's not only saw the last."

Play from 46:24[46:24]" Year but we're we're still talking about you know the difference between thirteen and three hits and six is only three game yet. And there's an opportunity there I think to win those as well as there is to lose -- because you got the other team you know factored and I mean it is turnovers and special teams and utilization all the great equalizer on the field you know that is. As well as anybody else so. You know I just think that there's an opportunity here. 22. You know certainly while there's an opportunity for the other teams in the AFC there's no doubt about that it. I just think there's an opportunity here for the Patriots is that suggest along and I will maintain this -- in the into the here. There's an option with the Patriots really used this psychologically in fact and -- sort of way. This is really pretty cool over the because they always look for that psychological edge well -- had to go to a -- extremely."

Play from 47:10[47:10]" Arnold -- all around it with the cool thing or if it's a positive or occurs wanted to navy beat them break he needed one week at -- that when I -- spread the battle that but while it's not exactly break if you want to know I -- get hurt like I think without Brady gonna -- they would -- found it would have -- it is over with hated by the would have made up. Well in -- but that's what this team is so good at doing now we don't have to make it out now at an average it's been served to have won a silver platter. I really can't hide my play when all this happened was that at the deep this wasn't better than it was last year this was so and I like row."

Play from 47:44[47:44]" In this week's edition of PFW in the commentaries that it's now the defense's turn to carry a team. I'm sure it was the offense. And even Richard Seymour admitted that it's not what we Auburn players have admitted that -- the often hired Eddie gave a 2128. Point lead. And it made it easier for us played -- there is no there is no doubt about that you yet that that's a back to connect tonight. Now this year there are going to be as many -- when he nothing 21 to three lead I don't think and if there aren't it's up to the -- come up from the start. Forced a couple of three out get a big turn over the first quarter fumble recovery. That up on a short field and you set the tone. Now it's your turn at the -- they can do that. In the implement the plan would would you agree that we've seen at least and so far so good red zone -- absolutely weeks that's the biggest change last they weren't terrible the red zone. This year through two teams to key stops that's exactly what you want you right now. That that's that's much you can ask or."

Play from 48:44[48:44]" Who who defensively has surprised you. In what you've seen with the team in terms of their ability to come up and and begin to make plays and and some sort of a kind of a leadership role and there. And this is the most some of the news cut newcomers which we have been to a three that you are going to getting some significant time."

Play from 49:00[49:00]" Well normally I would say Jerod Mayo because he's been on the field for every nap but we have kind of hit during the pre season that this is going to be K so my bigger prize to be oh ops. Who I think has carried over from last year the -- the injuries is now making plays out there could be what sort of the pre season. And I were replay -- he's ten yards from the ball. He's nowhere near the receiver now that -- you up on the receiver is get his hands in the -- he's make him play that to pick through two games. I believe those that -- has four pick in last five games gone back last season. I play good football and I've never been big out. I don't think he's a terrible football player I've never been big on Ellis -- as a number one shut down corner. Right now through two week he is replacing a thought they -- he has played like a shutdown corner. He had an outstanding game the Jets it was all of that deal that was the best game where -- was not only play get a hand on the ball that a great to have beaten keep doing that. He's going to be okay."

Play from 49:55[49:55]" Now as far as the other cornerback is concerned which of course I think a lot of fans a lot of people would agree that. In certain that the quarterbacks the secondary in particular would have to have been a perceived weak point coming in. Certainly via part of the reason because of -- the same -- in in Eugene Wilson leaving the team but. I wouldn't be at all surprised if if someone like Deltha O'Neal continued. To get more and more time over there and and I'm not denigrating Lewis Sanders right whether it's a little bit of a surprise actually was some of his early playing time. But I think the deposition might actually end up being stronger than originally intended which is part of the reason why we're not seeing guys like Wheatley and Wilhite over there is."

Play from 50:32[50:32]" It's funny I thought we he was the guy went Fernando Bryant got cut voted on a lot of agreed on that -- then all -- It was a special team -- week one and it active the week to. And we had Louis -- starting and then Deltha O'Neal it's I kind of saw coming with the way Bill Belichick talked about during the week that it dealt -- you learn the system. Right you'll be there get more playing time now he isn't in yet agree Kimi -- cheese and again a couple of plays. Particularly in the red zone at the end though I think he is that playing time deposition -- really it has been kind of revolving door I. I think O'Neal could settle in there and give a few weeks where he was -- And if they want to make a change it half of the people -- don't do so. The front Evans made a big difference -- the pass rush it's dried NATO's presence. -- in the line of scrimmage in your presence up front and when you do that as we all know of football in me and a little bit easier secondary play. And now they have to do because yet I think there are question mark will you -- a long term tejada other quarterback spot shakes out. We'll see how it -- and it's giving an improvement because that little -- down on him through a couple of games can Rodney Harrison keep playing at a high level. And it's our back up all you have is Mario you know have a lot of depth at the eighth spot so all that you take all that you can put in the pot. It is the front seven does its job. You can mess of those -- I think the Giants at last -- I have a great secondary. That's right they were in tatters at times but the front that are in the past -- was phenomenal. And that's what Arabic -- prosper. Well having -- these young players. These young players and there are about the coverage there and I -- big got a guy to go well and who thankfully has gone. You know there -- guys back into -- R. W. McQuarters I thought of him as reliability me. But David plays in the playoff on because the -- that would do its job absolutely now -- need to do."

Play from 52:19[52:19]" I think we all know that my good pass rusher and -- a -- a couple of but it didn't really maybe. That's that's his -- and it's easier you don't have to state with a player don't have to stay with a -- right for as long. Then you're obviously going to be much but play the quarterback only had two seconds get hurt the ball that's right aren't complete -- and it hasn't come down to. If you would choose to go that route -- there's been talk about power poles and power rankings and things. And -- your impressions of book. We think should be -- one team right now on the NFL after couple weeks just a brief little snapshot of the 2008 season in and who's the biggest surprise. To you either positive or negative sense biggest surprise they developed a couple weeks so what email us your thoughts there aren't on those particular questions. Espn.com. Took a little further this week is well within with a great page -- or play if you will. They ranked. For one to 32. The ultimate NFL power ranking -- with the all time best franchises. They wanted to know which franchise he's the best in the NFL period from one to 32. Over the history of the late. Actually. Let me correct that since the AFL NFL merger. Which was in the 1970 season Peru. 2007. Last year the completion of last season. So we're talking basically about a 3738. Year when he count 1970 it's 38 years of history. Which team's rank one to 32. Where do you think what do you think just off the obvious what the Patriots rank. In one to 35. Ten. Fifteen somewhere in there may be because I -- to consider that them. Since the AFL out of the merger in 1970 there were some lean years in there although that the other was the you know the 76 season which is pretty good in the record -- of the 85 who will seasons -- it and there's really -- years here the late eighties early ninety's and -- it to. You know since 199394. When Bill Parcells them came in to run the franchises the fortunes. For the most part by and large is certainly turnaround and a positive sense -- over the last you know 1516 years. I can't say that I'm terribly surprised by this what they did is they. Basically two regular season winning percentage. In the weighted heavily to give all the teams a fair appraisal. Teams that join the NFL after 1970 -- certainly at a disadvantage here in some of the categories. But then the course and again you can look at -- they have an advantage in what they're calling negative category they had less opportunity to be bet. The formula that ESPN used measured Super Bowl championships and appearances. Post season history which includes playoff wins and big defeats. Also regular season consistency which is the overall winning percentage. The number of seasons with twelve or more wins the number of seasons with four or fewer wins. It measured. All-Star power of the words number of team number players selected to the all pro. Teams. Overall franchise stability which includes the number of coaching changes and the number of first round draft busts. Includes media buzz in fan interest and it. Monday Night Football appearances because after all we realized that dominant football quite a bit there's a lot of interest in -- It's so anyway. That there was an interesting set of criteria that. The writers on page two when he is gonna come used to determine the all time. Best. In NFL power rankings since 1970 which was the AFL NFL merger. The number one team really shouldn't come as a surprise and on the recently that with the almost Pittsburgh. Or maybe San Francisco in the number one team -- Dallas. The Cowboys. Since the merger. They have had even though I know that there was a couple lean years in there but. They lead the NFL -- Super Bowl berths and playoff wins in this modern era and we called modern era. All the time spent since the 1970 merger. But they ranked in the top three in scoring eleven times that right to -- scoring -- eight times since 1970. We've been in the in the future average at game fourteen times in the time period. So it really shouldn't surprise of the Cowboys were at the top of that list of the senior editor for NFL dot com."

Play from 1:04:13[1:04:13]" Is big -- and he's been around the block. The timer to pick probably talked to this particular poll as -- what is -- inside the playbook -- it's great to talk to again thanks for the time. I was kind of leading off and I'm going to get to your read particular -- power ranking on a pulled a chemist minute. But he has been that are really good when I thought that -- a little bit further in ranking the all time teams since the merger in 1970 and the Cowboys being -- the top of that list. I don't know that too many people would really have a problem -- that would you."

Play from 1:04:44[1:04:44]" I Award. You know I'd I think if you're going to put that catalyst together it it has to reflect. Consistent excellence. It has to reflect. Multiple championships. In -- and asked to reflect the sense of domination over. Period of of many years and you know what the definition of many I mean yards I think if you look in the course of of a decade -- ball I mean -- multiple decades in the case of one merger took place. If you can say that that particular team. Has been. At or near the top of only. In the course of that time than that is your pick in you know when you look at the Miami Dolphins assuming at the Europe. Dallas Cowboys you know you could make that argument. Certainly in the seventies that the Steelers the Balkans. Or or teams that -- And in the 49ers in the and that in the eighties you know they they had their respective. Rowand and in certain decades and and you know I I might have leaned toward that the steeler team as being one that 44 for its consistent success but. One I think you look at what what. That there Ellis did what it multiple Super Bowl wins in that in the ninety's. It is probably watched we're swaying bad that particular poll I would guess. That and of course you can't ignore. How the how the Patriots have triple on this circuit."

Play from 1:06:10[1:06:10]" It appeared the young Steelers were actually number two. 49ers -- number three just for grins and deals here. All of our weapons were ranked four Broncos five Raiders six Vikings seven. Redskins eight Rams nine. To it was a little surprising and the Patriots -- an intense. It."

Play from 1:06:28[1:06:28]" I'm shocked I mean I'm not stunned by that that that that that doesn't work for me I. I'm -- I -- had them much -- that would put them out of the river -- that would put them over the Vikings. My gosh yeah that's I'm I'm I'm like that -- until -- told the pats were kept."

Play from 1:06:45[1:06:45]" Yeah. While just based on what the Patriots have done in this decade and I think that's why the Patriots are so low because they really didn't come through any kind of consistency. Until the two thousands."

Play from 1:06:56[1:06:56]" And see here's the thing when you get and they are all subjective -- following -- they're they're put out their Mark -- that you and I and then another city our discussion about what -- your right point. I think. I think you have to take all walks. They first saw the final why you have these where you have them but but but in the case of the pats. -- I think it's not and it's not in. Overstatement to shape. That what they accomplished in this particular decade is is special and different from what those other teams accomplished in other decades because. Rules of the game are are far different and they have the ability to -- good over a period of time we know -- we've said the -- Oregon it's just you know much stuff much --"

Play from 1:07:44[1:07:44]" Let me go then Vick to. -- people on at a public comment that we all know that there are probably about five or six power polls open a lot of people. Put credibility into -- because of the source and because it's great in home and found water during the course of the week if he creates interest around -- No arguments at all -- with the Dallas Cowboys being considered largely the best team ability to make a strong case for the Giants at this stage of the game. However. This is where I I have to admit it raised my eyebrows when I looked at your career it. Power rankings last night. And he had the Patriots as the only team to -- In the middle of the pack and why is that."

Play from 1:08:26[1:08:26]" Well I have this simple explanation and and I have heard. Probably a number of folks and Patriot nation and so I'm I'm burned -- while but yeah I know chart and and I'm I'm very happy that they think in the two. You know call me every name in the book and and questioned. My lineage and everything about me in the question also almighty. -- Eagles and why why I have a job Lima get paid to do this why haven't been ordered by now I'll. -- and not that they overreacted but that's and that's. Anyway but that's correct. And I love that the other part real quick -- I love -- that I have been accused of being Patriot hater. Which is the last thing -- because as I recall I was. Doing a lot of columns that that really. Basically told people to move on from the the holes like eight thing and basically made my case that they sufficiently punished. I wish I was called every name in the book by every other team that's that I'm on the Patriots too much so Mattingly can't wear an accurate. You ask me why and it's simple it's a simple answer I'm not convinced. -- this particular to an all I I don't I still. Don't believe that I'm looking at the same team. That I feel is. You know worthy of where I had them all almost the entire season last year -- up above all else or are you okay yeah you don't have to put him at the property. -- fans would agree that that that they're -- that the number one team but why aren't they at least that a top twelve team which is what I have in my ranking as a playoff team and icy -- A lot of -- here not the least of which is that I think the quarterback situation. It really means something that that's still hasn't played itself but they're still more I need to see in the -- and understand about Matt Cassel before. I am there's a lot of people seem to be running with the idea. That he has picking he has. That the -- August is being we written all over again it's not just replace the name and its starting in the same place. I I I saw a and and and unconvincing win over Kansas City and in a team that. Showed following week Kyle how weak it really was one and inept Oakland team. I was able to to win against the Chiefs. And and I saw very calls went over Jets team. That I don't believe it all is going to be a factor. In in very big factor in the -- this season despite Brooke -- I addition and and strategically I think the Jets. Probably scored a couple of things up that that that should have given them all win over over the pets so I'm not I I -- an unconvincing to 1 start. So far. And I could I could easily -- my mind changed that's where we do these polls on a weekly basis and I'm open to that for sure. But if your asking -- old Bob. They are now which is what that question is what do answer you lead in the in my -- all. I I and and and in the case of looking at Buffalo Bills. You know Pittsburgh Steelers in the Tennessee Titans and even Arizona Cardinals -- I'm I'm. I'm more believing in those two and almost as being reflected reflective of how good those things are really are verses. Pets seem that I think has benefited greatly by the two bombs they --"

Play from 1:11:55[1:11:55]" Okay fair enough I'll I'll buy that to an extent however. Is that not sort of under selling. The rest of this team the other 52 players that are not named Tom Brady."

Play from 1:12:08[1:12:08]" You know like guys in there there's a risk to doing that no question and I think they're there are some very good players and very great aspects of that team and and let's talk about coaching as well. Because I have the utmost respect for. What what Bill Belichick is able to do and how are capable -- overcome. And at that record as a reflection of -- I don't know little -- If there's going to still be enough to carry a team that is still in my -- to sort of succeed and dominate. What is. The guy named Brady understands I am I I think this is a different team a very different team. Then but one that was. That if you go back to the first Super Bowl first couple of what went and and they they'd been. Sort of really tailored -- really designed. To capitalize. I'm. The big hit the big plays. The scoring -- and and and all the things that I think all look calm in some respects. Some issues that could be either on the -- and that's saying that the fence is it's flat out a weakness I I just don't know. I'm not sure yet how strong it truly is because in the course of last year there were elements of -- team that we're not trust it. To the fullest because they didn't have to be. B you know in the Patriots multiply didn't early -- games in the when they did have a couple of struggles. Baltimore being you know one on one that comes to mind. What why did they what was the difference in the ballgame and once again it was the ability at number twelve. To make a play yet you know to make a couple huge place at the very end and another was the benefit of a penalty in there somewhere but. You know that was that the Ravens problem. Being delivered and one I don't see that guy in there to deliver. I'm still not sold that this is going to be the you know about the -- sinking at Leicester but eighteen. That is that is yet there are put him in the middle of the pack -- important but the bottom -- The middle of the pack means. They can easily climb into playoff contention. If if I you know seem more evidence that convinces me that right now I am. -- Buffalo right now is the better team. Yes that's what -- beat the bills have. You know I I think -- reporting. Quarterback's next to -- other. I'm I'm. Going to take a Trent Edwards who who I think. It has been and it's only a slight. My problem out more of experienced -- you know toward the pocket and most term but just in terms of of what he's displayed. How he's progressed but more importantly the ball below. I'll take that besides I'll I'll take them. Marcus Stroud different that he's made the dominant force that he's -- And a lot so many others to thrive off of that topic they're special teams and and what polls. Are able to do and and beginning changing. You know playmakers that are that are -- her actions and the other night and you don't adjust -- return and they have but but that you know coverage that they supply in the kicking game in general. I think there's there's a lot of that can be counted on there and I think it's. You know I I think it is also well coached him I don't know that you know under your iron in there and you've got enough credit for that but I think. If you look at where this team where the bills were a year ago. Still all on the verge of of of making a playoff after -- seventeen guys on injured reserve. That that told you something about what the potential was. If they also made some additional improvements and I think they've done that the necessary additions that sort of Stroud Kawika Mitchell. And then and then you know we saw for the first time to change party. Coming in and and making and that the remarkable catch in the end zone. But that red zone play play that he made big six foot but receivers the kind of thing that's a dimension they haven't had before. Well we've seen it now and we true and I think it's something the bills -- going to show. As -- most well."

Play from 1:16:17[1:16:17]" one more question about the poll before I ask you go a different direction -- but in theory when you're putting your pulled together do you look at this as just a snapshot of a team. To this point in time or do you look at it as this team has this potential. From here on out."

Play from 1:16:34[1:16:34]" Why I I'd look at it's a little ball about it but it's mostly how it stacks up. In the current you know you can only I think you should only deal with the team and its current state and and -- and offered today and now. What they -- and the body of work. -- I it's yeah maybe maybe the first week it comes to mind but it's not. The body that in the body work can't be any any wider. They had what the offseason moves work to put the team you know that helps certain areas and in certainly picnic the yacht. You're you're you're you're understanding. Of the team you're perception of what he missed about going into the season. Through the pre season and and it that's what it's not that I put zero back into outcome appreciate just how the team. You know held up how you know did that the PR the pieces in place -- our guys. Healthy that they brought -- border guys playing are their other guys we've signed to these -- as free agents actually. In the starting lineup we'll have regular roles because that as a way of changing once they get on the pre season -- there on the field and pre season games or in practice split on what they're capable of yes it is in the other. Is definitely another aspect because I it likes change some things especially in the works now we've got two pretty solidly of their. That there's a lot I think you can tell about -- team that's headed. Based on some of this strengths and values chemistry is an example their their decent strength. -- me a lot of of reason to think that they can go somewhere and Terry Collins. Taking over quarterback brings stability that frankly was you know the thing that they didn't have with Vince young and and that's a huge. That's a sea change for that you know not unlike the the sea change for the -- except the sea change for the pitcher to quarterback of that. It is in my view right now is that there's a big negative for for Tennessee. It it could mount into a a positive that could take them along why."

Play from 1:18:38[1:18:38]" The Croce senior editor for and a public confidence here -- Patriots playbook. Vick obviously there have been a lot of big stories at this point in time the in the regular season in some significant ones. -- the least of which would be injuries for a lot of teams the Patriots notwithstanding. What your take on the fact that the increasing have been significant for so many teams. To this point in time and you'd think. That ownership do you think that those that make the rules in this game will try to do something to address that at all in the off season."

Play from 1:19:08[1:19:08]" I don't know I you know I don't know that that there's much more that can be done I hear what you're saying. I would -- that we didn't have to worry about our -- types of things happen. And and it's you know for sure it's troubling that -- that you've had. Marquee talent affected by this and I have -- talking to you from Indianapolis that they are doing a piece on the Colts. And and their multiple injury problems that you've got a dozen or so regular players. That they thought they were having their lineups -- from the start training camp who work. Or likely not in the lineup or maybe one -- two comeback this week but you know to go tiger starting center for a couple of weeks -- whole line that's been. That took a whole bunch of players. Within their first. You know two or three games -- a couple of and Oxford. ID -- only lead the best thing in the whole Peyton Manning thing -- he didn't play through the pre season and looks like he's just your strength its timing together was received but. What do we do to solve this I mean you know the argument -- its focus again on Tom Brady is is is there is who can legislate. Something that would have prevented that hit from taking place a guy falling a body lean in standing employees doing what he spoke to do. To -- quality I I don't know I mean we know that there's been. You know mister wolf what was fine for them for coming in law it that. That hurt JP lost the last year. Are those things for Predators are they -- what what can do and we can you make the quarterback untouchable of course not but you're not watching football anymore and and can you you know that they understood that the debate that we solve this whole and I actually. Marcos charger game call and some of the concern Eric talk that some of the members of the competition committee they're sitting you know I want. You want to there's talk about changing rules so that that the state doesn't occur. But in doing that you could compromise safety because no whistle or slow whistle. Mean it's bodies flying after football almost football and one of those bodies could be that the quarterback whose whose first since there's there's going to be to recover the ball shape. Say you know since the possessions shall I'm I'm. I I think it's hard Giants to really see how we could make injuries. How would you cut the injuries down in the fact that. Brady and Manning. We're not part of their team's free seasons and forgetting somebody else but I know that there were limited playing time for all you know for some key starters through this pre season. What had nothing to do with you know length of appreciate simple we are talking about extending -- season 217. Regular season games and one less preceding game I don't think -- is even going to be a factor there is ever solid. For many teams before pre season game the -- for example had. Oh starting lineup of 21 backups got a -- sides of the ball so then that should get that was. That that should give you a sense where coaches are with the whole thing that they've given up on or receiving a great. Turn it into another regular season game but now we have a water regular season. And health concerns are going to be they're just because exposure. It is always up there I I don't know that we. -- it would it would get too caught up in in. Making you're trying to change and alter rules help players they healthier. Are we going to recognize the game that we -- that that's the only questioner."

We are all in this together or go to the same type experiences. Which -- things -- working together but -- economy and that -- more complicated closer try and Miller each other. And not only on the field but off the field and did you teammates that that -- I think a lot of times in and negate the ball. Relationships. Overlooked and a lot of times that results. That happens -- steps and corrected numbers happened because of the relationships side not necessarily. The coach of the town."

Play from 1:34:47[1:34:47]" You mentioned relationships. You had a pretty good and I am now -- Marshall. We've what you remember most about him both players."

Play from 1:34:58[1:34:58]" Well on him he's always been. An extreme competitor. It didn't matter what we're doing -- Marshall weathers 11 trailer. Basketball. Over to -- or whatever it was. Extreme competitor. That and has always been that way. And you know -- it's -- different I think he has a big -- Comeback settling into a lot of great things there. And that really get back and you know I think he does have been part."

Play from 1:35:34[1:35:34]" Does that surprise you at all -- Was voted -- captain of this team here."

Play from 1:35:40[1:35:40]" No not at all because. Yeah that would surprise -- other people but. Of notoriety for -- and you know obscene pitcher India thinks some people's perceptions India's a little off and you know sorcery in the disheartened and what he wants to do what it was accomplished being. Right on the money with the Soviet."

Play from 1:36:04[1:36:04]" Right start up."

Play from 1:36:10[1:36:10]" Now about crowd about think. People overlook our country really is that the the it was seven West Virginia area though it is true and and things like so."

Play from 1:36:23[1:36:23]" I Chad is a little bit -- B were you captain Marshall. You're all right. Can you gotta expect that they have different every level of football. How different being a captain in the NFL is from other levels maybe the responsibilities and different."

Play from 1:36:38[1:36:38]" Well. -- The obvious. Differences you're not deal -- college kids. You deal with and in the professionals. You know how you lead. There are some core characteristic and lately whether it's by example reports say -- In what you do on the ball field and on the professional level your deal with it. Your deal -- in the in the game and understand how to. Being leaders and be professional and it also deals. Younger players who are just -- so I think captain of professional team -- potential to. I have -- missed those two together here young players with your older players and everyone -- work together because the discrepancy. Ages. Are so much different compared to college where normally deal with eighteen to twenty real college. And approach can be built 22 although -- forty so it's a lot different."

Play from 1:37:39[1:37:39]" Are there any responsibilities. That you have as a captain that are different than they were either and I spoke out."

Play from 1:37:46[1:37:46]" Accept their responsibilities are are definitely similar -- deal those responsibilities and I handled those things. They'll be the biggest difference. And in the type of people age group that you deal with that -- the similarities as far as you know leading by example. -- knowing when to speak. Address the teams don't win not to speak. You know obviously -- wanting. Capital in the leader you have to on the play. You know the result on the field starts the whole process. And they have built it on you. Physically and mentally on the field against they'll produce."

Play from 1:38:25[1:38:25]" that you of these as -- Brett Favre thought it was a plane did you ever imagine it was kind of you know have an impact on you and one when you. We're you know -- you know when he left. The Dolphins that you. Expressing anxieties about starting over you know all over."

Play from 1:38:46[1:38:46]" Well you know how it's prepared for what ever happened in New York. You know in the or for eight years and that thing. Surprise you straight years and and with the two weeks leading up to. The decision -- May you know I've prepared myself but I felt like it was fair prepare both mentally and physically handle whatever came my way. What the decision was made take a look at all the best in professional. And also from him it would make it sound. Professional decision and I just felt like coming to Miami. Taylor helped lay the groundwork. And that built the foundation for a short Esperanto wants -- interest at an opportunity excited."

Play from 1:39:32[1:39:32]" Bowden. Didn't just another general question instead. Playing your mind. Why you believe there might be set I feel you read our front court is. Quarterbacks that goes up."

Play from 1:39:48[1:39:48]" Well I think. You know which city talent is always at the hand that the holder that news. Detective that talent out there. So that's human opinion and we don't know opinions -- at all different times. And it also it six victories and has -- just this situation. Sometimes. Cornerbacks can handle being thrown in the early sometimes. Quarterbacks can't handle being thrown in the early and it's a detriment to. So it's ordeal in the inexperience not deal with robots -- you know. People that don't have feelings and emotions and things like dead and that's why. Such variance. You know the production quarterbacks. And what's your opponent or guys -- to a -- thanks what are your impressions of June gloom. I think -- being. The big -- I think he's got a chance to be here. The mainstay in this league -- left tackle. Breaks a question of the table. As far as the physical presence they would do that politically and and mentally he has a lot of passion for the game. What to do well it won't succeed in. You know so I'm excited about about him being here."

Play from 1:41:06[1:41:06]" How much of a concern for you is the Patriots pass rush the outside guys Thomason Vrabel. You've seen him countless times."

Play from 1:41:14[1:41:14]" Yeah well they they do a great job I think what they've done a great job last 34 years is generating the pass rush. Went three and will. You know 78 years ago it was always 56 guys and now. That they can do with just courier or being pushed the middle pocket also rushed the edges and so. Which so well and you know play coverage behind it and it makes it tough on the -- back and so you know we. We've got a full they've they're there -- to plague hit deep hits it's solid down the -- don't beat themselves. And -- extremely tough and so it's become challenge. Guys actually got canceled -- what the other coach final couple minutes."

Play from 1:42:00[1:42:00]" Right there you go that's Chad Pennington had -- via quarterback for the Miami -- by the way in that web poll that the Miami Herald did. A ton about when should Chad Henne replaced Chad Pennington as quarterback. 42% of voters exclusive wait until next season. As opposed to wait until the halfway point of this season which was the next. Best of about 30% so on I think there's an eye toward the future but they were right now I think most Dolphins fans at least. Seemed to think that Pennington is going to be -- so we just marvel you know live within and hopefully get something out of bomb will wrap it up today. By telling you tomorrow's pro -- first and foremost. Will be back -- impacts time same -- channel -- Russell Baxter from ESPN -- the research -- will be with us for his regular. Thursday visit and of course -- Excalibur you know will visit from POW. Tomorrow to a couple football and get in this -- and those about the Dolphins in particular on Sunday. Tony Sparano is the brand new head coach first year coach of the Miami Dolphins courses -- their there's been some time."

Play from 1:43:04[1:43:04]" And Dallas when Bill Parcells was there. Yeah it seems like sopranos and everytime I see is named and written. I want to say cohesive Randall. But it Sparano I know it's weird. If only get as much -- Tony soprano than maybe. Dolphins wouldn't go into and staring into the -- already for 2008. -- the Dolphins have a lot of problems Chad Pennington being the quarterback Chad Henne being quarterback notwithstanding. Defensively right now the secondary is not in good shape and it seemed to be the overriding thing. That I think about when I look at the Miami team at this early juncture of the season. Well after two weeks the Dolphins were already 32 out of 32 teams dead last in the league in yards per pass play a loud. They give up -- 75 yarder and a seven B nine yarder this past week in the 3110 loss to Arizona. There -- already tied with Denver and Seattle -- the most pass plays longer. Then twenty yards this they give it up nine that long so there is -- even mention this yesterday -- Brian -- but if there's ever seen for the Patriots and kind of like Matt Cassel. To go vertical line. This might be the week. And just how does Tony Sparano -- coach -- Yeah how does he attack that and how many of the problems as we have joke here we'll leave today with the head coach the Miami Dolphins visiting -- members of the Patriots media. To whisper rock."

Play from 1:44:36[1:44:36]" I don't it and telling Albert -- on -- good thank you ballot -- coming up here. -- sure do yeah. I think they'll probably. I don't know maybe on. Average."

Play from 1:44:55[1:44:55]" a little bit -- When -- and coached the college level and echoed that level of a difference what when a captain is pro level those levels ice."

Play from 1:45:09[1:45:09]" But captain yeah. Now -- is just a question of I think it. In my mind. Not -- at all lot of their soul and captain. In my mind is -- you know elected by his teammates to be. Their spokesman. You know whether that's -- school college whether -- pros. Battleship that is much different I think. In -- abortion thing."

Play from 1:45:44[1:45:44]" Tony. Between the draft picks and free agents. Guys -- the winters ago it two dozen guys that are in the first year with the Dolphins are difficult than what -- out is that that he's annoyed that many people into the program all --"

Play from 1:45:59[1:45:59]" Well aware that the difficult. Barton uses. You know you have. -- from certainly different you know several different. Won't wear the other intermission with guys that were you know. -- For several years in such situations and I think that the difficult part at all just. You know learning how to practiced together learn about it those type of things have been. You know we really had to start all forget that -- not a practice work. You know how to get involved that beatings. What the structure was that way -- I think that. And it take people from bunch of different. You know professional. Backgrounds. Brick all of the war situation like that that's a little --"

Play from 1:46:45[1:46:45]" At this point three weeks into the season I do feel that progress has has come along these guys."

Play from 1:46:50[1:46:50]" I think it's comical hawk -- need to be it yet. You know I think that it should still constantly it'll work progress of the order that they expect. That we you know certainly do you know -- that we constantly able to the bottom of the roster. Shall you know it's three weeks that we network -- now this season but we've had two -- each week but he it was coming it. So I think what -- star break you know you're continuously bringing new people it. You know your your -- to -- as well -- you know they have -- process --"

Play from 1:47:27[1:47:27]" How -- absolutely it is it. Program that offers. -- that he's no longer reliant upon footballers but you know gradually picking."

Play from 1:47:38[1:47:38]" I yeah I do what I think he's come along really nice that way I think you know surely from the -- standpoint. Our offense you know that is slowed down tremendously for him. From the battle standpoint you know he's handled really well now it. You know understands. Everything that you know we need to understand in the club option. Without having any. It cops on the game play you know which maybe early in. The -- obviously we have to look to bits and pieces as he was learning support right now. We don't really have to."

Play from 1:48:16[1:48:16]" Sonya I understand your good friends with Darren busy that could fit you -- right."

Play from 1:48:21[1:48:21]" Yeah yeah right now -- formulas of the universe in no way that is a heck -- coach."

Play from 1:48:26[1:48:26]" Have you been able to keep track of that ran the little bit how they're doing this year with and."

Play from 1:48:31[1:48:31]" And it's it's a little bit in do very good this week so. I certainly don't feel it myself so. Obviously neither of us spoke --"

Play from 1:48:43[1:48:43]" Talking talking about these exit New England flavor of yours out there you know our guys were promoters. Here."

Play from 1:48:51[1:48:51]" Yeah -- you know I think -- that's. It was a big part. You know from my standpoint -- staff together I think we've put staff together of people that. Certainly first or most of football coaches -- if I could care less were there from the pap points but. I do. You know a lot about people that are airport Paul past -- work with the it ballots -- that Jorge Julio. I've had experience -- it'll get out of pointless but there several sort of you know these guys are all part of this whole thing. You know which certainly could have apparently it's -- talk about noble just but more importantly their actual football coach. It. Sure Embree Mike -- vehicles guys you know -- title where the other back there. You know I just think it was import it was a good fixed. You know some of these guys obviously. You read it -- appalled at what point you know I have a lot of respect would you rate you know and with these programs college level you know we're trying to teach. Structure it. Discipline that the same you know I think. You know beat the best exit -- coaches that we can be. What our players and I think all the guys it'll bring that to the table where."

Play from 1:50:17[1:50:17]" At the end. Watching film that and -- it up as if you are. Much. You know."

Play from 1:50:26[1:50:26]" Not made it -- ability to to be honest with. You know as I start watching and you know of course. In Kansas City game you pick up where. Where Tom. Unfortunately it was it was injured. You know speed back coming into the game and and I don't think it'll be that day. Really stopped or what you know what they were planning to do -- game I think it just continued that's credit about. It'll it. He would be prepared and I think that. You know -- or the next ball game it'll in the jet -- You know about the activated -- Different that way. -- I think -- things happen really impressed with the start of the back they called gross. You know get the ball about the probable -- you know I was impressed with the company to a game like that that was pretty close game that. He's always and so able. Those those situations occurred during the course and acted."

Play from 1:51:30[1:51:30]" Do you actually have heard about that. You put ourselves and."

Play from 1:51:36[1:51:36]" You know I don't coach Belichick a little bit of course Parcells and I would. That would basically be the way."

Play from 1:51:44[1:51:44]" And Tony went when you're when your outlook on holiday Ares I -- Cassell can use anything you'll benefit quarterback gets from. From that for a few years or actually it."

Play from 1:51:57[1:51:57]" Well I think -- you know one of the things I think he did -- you know it prior to that just. He'll be able to see all you know -- In all the critical situations -- out of the game and I know in a final court spell -- Those guys so well coach but I know that they talk about. The same thing that we talked about. With our players and our quarterbacks we try to school level all the situations that could occur during the course the games. Game management almost type that things -- That's helped a little bit like lip service sometimes in collegiate into the game and see exactly what all the mostly all the suddenly are faced all those situations. The two minute drills you know where -- needs six yards at the end have a public game get a first down and so on and so forth of the on the clock management. He all the things -- veteran players like you know like Tom Brady get a chance to watch him do those things I think there's no greater experience for. You know quarterback. We're sitting there."

Play from 1:52:58[1:52:58]" What are your thoughts on this Patriots defense what do you see from the there's the game films that. Makes them so effective."

Play from 1:53:05[1:53:05]" You know -- we have chess player clash here -- thousand ballots. It'll work example approach -- with their D that's urged all out. There -- physically strong and their big strong people. It'll be into the middle. Daughter spectrum of the -- or -- more. These players but you know the outside linebackers I think what you're connect these it's. Like the Patriots period or that where it. Go outside linebackers. Talk about it edge of the -- that's the they need to be able to do I think turner getting back into the to that these -- to the table for you know those people -- And I think it for people. It is legitimate dished out that way there older to physical guys tied to stay that way. The other guy that I just think. I. Unbelievable energy that dropped. So you know."

Play from 1:54:03[1:54:03]" When you play them watch Dallas is in the middle. That is in a big difference from him playing on the outside now these first two games this year."

Play from 1:54:10[1:54:10]" At Camille looks like you know just when I -- about their it was a judgment because and I do remember being in the middle outside and it'll. Have presence outside as part because. -- you'd take your protection want weighs in maybe -- it's about the back take your protection the other way July. You know got a maybe a little bit more comfortable there it'll certainly need to pressure that way he's good about the cupboard channels things. It looks a lot more culpable presents a lot of problems."

Play from 1:54:41[1:54:41]" What will hurt. -- have aptitude -- see more action."

Play from 1:54:44[1:54:44]" Well that I just -- little bit but it'll last week's game the capitals Q what we do this week that we put. It'll right now as a receiving group. You know or as a football team but he. Doesn't really matter all where they are skilled people all -- big plays whether it's offensively or be that way the guys the big place in the guy's that'll play you know. A partial but the guys that they place."

Play from 1:55:08[1:55:08]" One of the -- is going to have to stand up the pressure from a pitcher's defense is that Jake Long. I was he come along -- rookie year now you know it a couple of games under his belt now."

Play from 1:55:18[1:55:18]" Jake you know it's it's a learning experience for -- one of the things that I love about the guys that -- conscientious guy. You know he's really mentally tough guy. Shall he got really make the same mistake twice. I think every gave. Jake looks back you know collapse you know couple -- place there will wear the other I think it which you know from his -- the networks. Really are not correct those things it doesn't make those mistakes. Over and over again I think that that's aside of that."

Play from 1:55:49[1:55:49]" a player. What were some of the breakdowns. In the secondary last week you let up to seventy yard completions was."

Play from 1:55:57[1:55:57]" Just a lack of communication. -- Inaudible was a lack of communication the other seven -- player guide to -- helped -- Caught the ball so -- about. Make -- play and it'll Larry Fitzgerald and apply -- situation."

Play from 1:56:19[1:56:19]" Yeah it was. Surely was what has started a game been you know -- enemy onslaught that. Bow. Properly and unfortunately got -- of the advocate. Because I think it was better better but. -- He's hurt. I thought our guys stepped up last week agree."

Play from 1:56:44[1:56:44]" Evan Mathis. And ready to go. I guess -- go last week."

Play from 1:56:52[1:56:52]" What part what part about it -- it."

Play from 1:56:57[1:56:57]" But it took us there."
