[6:52] ..." that's why. I'd pay more attention to guys like a routine like Christian Morton isn't him. Like Peter Gammons on baseball and the guys who like -- been trained in this form and fashion and Eldred"...
[51:51] ..." happens happens and stuff and north -- to get ready for the New York Jets yeah. Okay he can play he can put what led that thing what happened last week -- mind or can be ill"...
[1:17:47] ..." guards and I are right and you want and Maurice Williams and Brad Meester is great to come back -- Indianapolis might get. Just started back this week it's not out of -- possibility at least"...
[1:39:25] ..." Randy Moss against the other corners. For the Dolphins which would include Andre Goodman. In particular I would think and Will Allen. And in particular where Moss is concerned. Bomb Moss asked to be Randy Moss"...
[0:00]" That's all that's gone I'll -- about it out at all. It's Patriots played the development program operates an adult I have it right things. I'm on the seventh round Patriots playbook. Breaking down last Sunday's game yeah go ahead and headed there because of the fact that they're going to ask you over the top -- and he gave wanna go bought. Five. That they've won -- and the rest of the 2008 NFL he cut back cut back on it didn't want beer cans some of the ones -- between you and that you want to break even 51 right now."
[0:33]" Yeah me anywhere."
[0:37]" John -- Or perhaps today. President of the Joey Porter and club what do you think the second win it you know -- and he -- I. Enjoyed quarter. Greatest that it could we have asked for anything better slow week let's get some moron this the Patriots Arnold that. It was only a matter time. He's an -- yeah you can count on him to say something ridiculous he's like yeah over the top guys like death and taxes just to implement."
[1:12]" And used it yet can't avoid it. And something is going to happen somewhere. Somehow someway they actually want and the thing within -- as you can almost expected when he was with Pittsburgh as those were. Decent teams heroes on -- they were playoff team almost every year right. He's a horrible team. Keep your mouth here's the thing what welcome and -- Patriots playbook for Thursday John wrote Eric -- promote Patriots football weekly here with a as well today -- and it's always courted -- and Jonas in the second power. A program today -- I have to admit that. You know when I first saw it last night it -- crossed. Espn.com had it last night and I'm thinking. You know. We week we kind of got this kind of got -- main factory chip Marshall McDougall Brady's thing because bowl. This respecting the Patriots loved where that that mantra. A little earlier this week when the Patriots still rank very low and all the power poles and we talked about that all the power rankings this week the Patriots -- and cracked the top ten and several of them. And the only two and no team that isn't in the -- and right now in most of them. It's quiet victory achieved from NFL -- that question yesterday and he had Patriots have to show me something. You know based on the match and obviously at that I after two weeks I'm not convinced that there -- a playoff team okay. That aren't one man's opinion and and you know Vick who last year had the Patriots number one throughout the whole around the -- all isn't even like when they played. Indianapolis. It's true and all the type games they've faced so it's not like -- lucky Patriot hater right. So that's why I'm glad we had him on yesterday because I respect Vick route to his opinion about as much as any -- generated reporter. That I know covering the NFL I think that guy knows his stuff yeah and pretty even handed and he's very even handed he's about what it is no agenda a lot of it is the end I. You know and in you know but I know this there while he's he's been guys. The very knowledgeable football guys put. They have they have agendas number one and number two when your former player and still. Have relations in certain cities were used to play and you hear about it all the time got an agenda what you do or not."
[3:25]" You do right and it's difficult especially when that. So so closely removed from absolutely not like a Tom Jackson who you know he's from Cincinnati but he played in Denver and you know. Whenever Cincinnati or Denver come up they'd they'd they they rip him a little bit about it but it's not like he's homer for either one of those teams when he gives -- analysis -- any given handed about it and when it comes to TJ though you know when it comes the Patriots. I mean what got burned by the -- we hate there you know they hate their coach a couple of years ago you know he's had a -- loser in for the Patriots -- that he has but you know what last week -- Sosa in the NFL countdown last week. I only saw a article a little little part of it is not who partly nephew that he was adamant adamantly against the Patriots winning that game. That I knew I always are all he he he he he made a good case for there they're not winning game not winning that game. And you know how that worked a formula while they work out to offer him but but only one player I think it was -- on. One member of that right back crew even even Berman who you know Berman loves the most interest. Picked picked the Jets to win the game. But but but Jackson was the most vociferous. About. The fact that he he just felt that it wasn't going to be close that the Jets are going to be upon what does that what does that tell tells us that even the quote unquote experts don't know everything. They just don't. They -- and a guy like Jackson might point one guy like Jackson and does I don't think he really has an agenda. As opposed to some of the other players tour a lot younger closer to having retired and he. And I don't know that's a matter."
[4:59]" Where he would have less of an agenda because he's been more removed from the game. For years but I really believe. And knowing this as they do from several people who work with at that network he was burned by the little thing he -- like. You know the network didn't vacuum open into it too -- more took a lot of heat for you know from players in the game and -- the game and so. I kind of feel like you know I don't know how he can really be impartial. Like a journal as -- to be anyway and that the other thing I mean everybody all the ex athletes. You know that have positions of a birdie and in in in terms of giving their analysis. There's no -- that know how to be impartial they have been trained to be impartial they're not. Reporters. And their athletes giving their opinion so when you realize that they're not. Reporters people who have been training gone through years of this kind of experience you seek an athlete he retired -- for example right now he's retired. Fox asked him why because everybody knows that too with the gap toothed grin that he's got. That's like he's a personable guy it was always good and and not Eddie's always good with the -- well when it suited him. -- bug up his rhetoric about a lot of media who. Including last year so let's keep this in mind you know he has his job as well as mostly at least the job. Not because they're great reporters. Because they are known personality. One afraid to give an opinion. Based on what ever want to -- they used to -- it is not impartial they have no journalistic training so. You have to understand -- on the ticket for what it is it's one man's opinion it doesn't necessarily mean that it's right and it doesn't even antley. Mean that that reporter. Use that term -- of that athlete that accidentally whatever has done his research more these guys don't they shoot from the hip. And that's the sad part about it that the networks don't bluntly hire these guys even when they don't do their -- that's why. I'd pay more attention to guys like a routine like Christian Morton isn't him. Like Peter Gammons on baseball and the guys who like -- been trained in this form and fashion and Eldred for the David Aldridge for the NBA absolutely very good. You know Ed -- for the NFL he's another when you know that does is groundwork he doesn't back -- follows if you know any of the reporters that he is going to have that art. Football players at mobile players I would taken more seriously than a football players and their opinion I seem to get the feeling knowing you might know better and I do. That. TJ is a little bit different in that regard. He's been more removed from the game for a while okay I'll grant you that until we sort of develop some chops as I would say I didn't head analyst I would say that he has because he's learned to. Over the years that he's been with the network how to. Don't look at things impartially. Others around him. Go about things journalistically pick -- opponent talked to somebody rather than just make stupid opinion. You know. Unfortunately that is exactly why he got burned by the whole papers and he got one phone call. Might based on my knowledge of the situation in and I got the second hand it okay take it what it's worth your game but. He got one phone call from one player in the pats locker room whose you know on Mahan would have been a tough time with coach B right now -- basically I'm paraphrasing. But based on that one phone call he's all that he'd be able to hate their coach now that's not what you're supposed to do. In in in reporting you have to get sometimes too -- maybe even more sources from completely different and the same thing before in reality you go with a or. You know Eric you may remember several years ago I don't know if not. But several years ago when I was local television on in Providence. I had at the time. What I thought was a blockbuster story well on current Patriot player who was in recap. And calm. I got that story because it was someone. Who was. In rehab with him but could never get it verified. I could never get anybody else to agree or disagree to order -- old story died. And an -- this kind of stuff happens all the time all I'm in this business. How many stories that -- wanted to go with but ball the better why because I didn't because I followed journalistic reporting principles."
[9:19]" Well unfortunately John I think nowadays too many people in this profession. Take the one source like you had him play and run with -- and -- they report rumors. What they report anecdotes. This is held without confirmation -- get started right Alex I -- put it right that's the proliferation of blogs has a lot to do with that. That -- the proliferation of the blog has a lot to do that because now you have a forum where you can throw a rumor out there and not technically journalism. It's a place to talk about rumors that is why the whole Internet thing is it's really it's tough line. But his walk it and it troubles me that so many. So called legitimate news sources look to blogs for news and then they -- rumor or tidbit and then they run with it. Without doing their own home they cite a site the blogger this site that horse to do they absolutely about the whole story of who's your plan. He's played them in the back him here's what."
[10:21]" the joke here. Now -- mile of violated them -- out here okay thank you aren't enough so hum. -- was and I was distracted momentarily -- but the -- John tomorrow. You know from the Boston Herald. Perfect example you know he had what he thought was a credible source but he didn't have anybody else except there's one person right. And then of course he does of the whole story on. In the spy gate issue last year and the fact that. The video had them information remember all the details exactly the last year that is though it was proven to be dead. Wrong and so he had to perform and ultimately -- culpa that and it cost him his job as a beat reporter for the football team. Well yeah and it and ironically he still is. Acting as the -- reporter for the -- he's not visible but he's he he does come in pretty much every day and he does cover that beat the that herald news. You know still looking certainly -- shuffle over there but so far it hasn't happened Hertzberg. Reasons beyond his his control him I suppose so I just you know that's why you know no matter how much you want to go with a story. You have to have yet you have to follow principles that the -- currently begin with and to give accurate two point yours Joey Porter shoot all the -- I would expect a player currently plaguing. To go anywhere near those kind of standard what you have to understand is that Joey. In his particular he should all -- his mouth because. Probably partly because he's got that certain -- He's got that he he wants to create swagger for himself dating back to his Pittsburgh days he wants people -- know that hey I haven't gone anywhere. He's probably feeling buried it in a place like Miami which is. Apartment going to be horrible again this year feels like he -- person some -- and maybe a little bit."
[12:13]" Yeah and he's just one of those guys. He's one of those players that has to draw attention to get one of those guys that regardless of Asia that's what what's around them that's exactly right. He absolutely has -- and I know you are players like that however good they may be on the field if they can back it up or not I just have no use for guys who talk just for the -- of -- Yeah -- really. I don't understand what they what they think you're going to get out of it because. Nine times out of ten maybe nineteen times out of twenty back pars on why do this because it's all about attracting attention to themselves and even if -- their face the Patriots you know kill them. He won't feel any worse about it. The kind of team that you don't even want to UT now be honest and you know it's sadly at -- I think a lot of times the case that the guy. To wanting people to know the -- Joey Porter probably or whoever it a little the player may be I don't I guess he feels like you know at least bad publicity is better than no public right and -- and it might even be a little bit of a crutch for his own athletic ability because -- mean I feel like he's. And as great a player. If you didn't make those kind of comments when we talk about your reporter as much for what he does on the field absolutely not but now but I thought about it today writes blogs all over the place talking about it today right fans are talking about today why because he opened up his big -- you know he basically is you don't -- they're not all that Brady's not a round. So lock -- possibly be any good and you get. Quit when a team like Miami is is an a year with and I'm very good and they have a player like reporter whose average -- that Wednesday's. Anything better than that. But when you talk about the players that that a team as bad as Miami has you think of a Joey Porter because his name comes up so much because he talks them -- not necessarily because he's out there making plays. This whole you know issue bring in Joey up today and I mean I can we not talk about it because it. Is you know it it. He -- and water it would give the Patriots that the players in the locker room. Are considering at all it's only any of the more ammunition what was also the first question that Matt Cassel was that the perfect at -- press and he said. He basically decide you know he sort of played it off like I didn't really hear what -- is that on pay attention that I mean it's the typical Patriots. Line which you'd expect he's not going to beat the fire. And rightly so which is what the Patriots have been taught to do and and some another reporter tried to follow follow it up and said you know so so it looks like you're taking the high ground basically and he's like well yeah I think he went. What do what do you expect these that this that it's the Patriots they don't. Usually take the low road with. With -- Players yes it's. I I didn't expect instances that further that viewed. Very true so I'm except so there was talking on Sunday. That's that I'll take it that's that further. They may keep quiet in front of the media but they'd say they internalize it. You know there's no there there guaranteeing that they internalize that they keep it in the back of their minds and a and -- have a chance on game day. To let their play do the talking they do and you saw last year when I'm right. Who was that no names safety Anthony Smith from Pittsburgh yeah was running his mouth about I guess -- guess is a Latin going to pay. And when when nine Gaffney and Moss scored their touchdowns what they do you. They went right and they were right and the rights and in the face and let him -- Olympia and that they did not appeal stated on the field they didn't run their malls all week which is the right way to do. But you said it best in the beginning on -- You can ask for anything better this week."
[15:40]" Now it's good it's good shall we say bulletin board material in that regard which is why kind of opened up this way Eric today it was I wanted to know from the fans in particular. -- Who you know. What players what personalities were in the league you kind of feel like our. Bombs wouldn't go off a Joey -- is a great example. Who else in the league is capable of doing this are there other Patriots opponent as you look at the race schedule that you think are you know. Loose -- They may only be a Patriots opponent in February but. You know I think TO is always one of those guys the difference with him is that he Mexican back it up on the field he he may be. One of about two. Entirely yeah they can actually back up whatever he pops up -- and I and about we're TO is concerned I would give you that. I think he's learned a little about mature little bit. And kind of strange that because he's got a place in Dallas where you know they sort of embraced that role image a little bit you know that's why they've had some of the ones in the that they. In even though he has not been. DT or lied if like in you know use -- verb here the fact is that. He's not the same heroin as we saw a little. He's not the same Terrell Owens that we songs and I don't think I think he's dialed it down at least one not. From them. Wouldn't you wouldn't agree that while you remember get your popcorn ready from last year while that was a good. And that's what -- not a lot and it actually. They're all good when the bunt but then he had the whole thing with the with the taken that Olson. You know. The the attempted suicide thing that was or wasn't and he does. I don't know he's. I don't I wouldn't say he's matured I think he might have changed a little bit but out of north mature as the -- okay aren't they may have -- all okay that's probably -- argument. Your voice back by the little peninsula. Early typical weeknight. Once you lost the very well equality. On them you know -- to have that back. At them. -- Bombs sounds almost like makes it very light. Well aren't we have Joey -- on the agenda. Spice things up how do you think his locker room. Really feel about the special window into -- you know. One in fifteen or worse you know staring into the abyss again here's a team that really could use. -- you know you gotta new coach -- got you know new GME. Got a lot of new players got younger players you try to get more physical you try to get stronger and that you have them out the -- happen somewhere in the cornea a while."
[18:32]" Unfortunately I think he's dealing with a young team except for a guy like Pennington who's been in the league what 89 years I think a guy like anything -- take. Issue with what Porter said I think some of the younger guys might. You know and and because because. -- can be kind of an intimidating guy he's big physical. He says he'll get your face you know even off the field we always had an incidence with other players -- the league. There was a thing in Vegas I think query where he punched a guy from the angles. Couple years ago -- and it not a casino or something like that and so he's he's the kind of guy that if you say something -- on the you know you human after expects. Some something physical and return. So I think some of the younger guys might and might might want to speak up insane thing because a they're young guys and be there on a team where there's really not much of a leader. To speak of I think Pennington might by default fall into that category. And I think so I think someone like him might take issue with what Porter said but you know. Their first round pick. This year is an offensive linemen and you know. That last year's pick Ted Ginn junior wide receiver young that I just. Know that that's. -- really see where he was where he's going to get the the pushed back unless he gets that from up above right you know unless like Parcells. If Parcells with a coach I think. You wouldn't --"
[19:54]" Heard. -- say those kind of things or it would quashed or -- squashed that pretty quickly how much do you think it's a Joey Porter can -- to the middle of the new coach. The possibility. And it's possible -- many years -- who has been out a lifer of an assist in getting an opportunity here Brighton. Random Bill Parcells enough than him to given the chance to the head coach in this particular instance in yours Joey Porter you know. -- off thinking that hey I can get away with this because you know -- Well you know I think -- he knew that. Pours his work cut out form. Sparano as the no nonsense kind of guy he's he's. You wouldn't know by looking enemies kind of short -- but he's a fiery guy and he doesn't take anything from anybody. And -- a kind of sit a little bit from having known the guy he was when I'm. That -- you he was offensive coordinator there and look at India and also -- O line coach and believe me -- if guys were at least a foot taller than him in the shout and yell and get their face he's not afraid of anybody's Joey porter's not -- an intimidating. I think if you try to test his coach he's barking up the wrong tree. That's alive at that advice that if the odds and authorities trying to do I would say don't do."
[21:07]" Interesting take may -- he's also just trying to. Attract attention he's trying to fire up his -- team maybe he feels like you know he -- everybody's -- a couple of them because now they -- Patriots -- going to be -- I mean it is -- as that -- but he's doing this for his own teams that try to inject a little -- and -- confidence maybe a little excitement maybe a little urgency I take that consideration. Like I -- anywhere I don't know if he's that smart to be honest I don't know if he's as brilliant -- you know. A veteran player who clearly. On the downside of his career. Like he has a little left in the tank. And dwindled -- next to nothing after two weeks I got to do on the here I'm Marty perceived as being the number skull out there. Is time for me opened my -- and play the role. You know quotations around the word ROO three and let me open up my gap and then put guys on the defenseman in the half. To scratch and claw because that's going to be to the -- open my mouth and their backs against the wall you think he's brilliant. Now and if you were that brilliant he would have signed with a team can actually compete for. Pathetic and whatever that you know life is all about money right in his old he got the money -- was with -- Miami that's why he wins I think. His lack of choices probably spoke to what other teams -- the league partners or through it and took the money where he knew we could. And he got to Miami -- that's what he's getting in return yeah. All right web radio Patriots dot com email address -- hasn't fought on Joey Porter yes some thoughts on the other. Well likely loose wires loose -- around the NFL would love to hear from -- This being Thursday prediction as well guys of course stupid of W with all of their their game -- predictions either earlier today view of your thoughts on the Goer. For this Sunday with Miami I was pretty close last week town at that point 313 muted. I thought I was up by four points on the new England and entry points -- it wanted to thirteen so close it close there was close I haven't you know want. Until just now I am I even thought about the score this weekend. Not yet did you give your score during the picks I I usually don't do that I usually give like my sporadic at the papers covering the twelve man yeah thanks to this may be one of the few times. The papers cover Donald producers. If they even get anymore. Based on what happens from here on now I think -- I think there's a chance to get some more. There a couple of teams on the horizon -- don't go get out west yeah and you know and we talk a -- you know this. Schedules such as it is going to play right into the Patriots fans if there was every year. For this team to play a schedule that was not as -- as the years in the that this would be the one. You know it'll I'll hopefully you know meant to have you know grow his own -- You know for the Patriots to -- remembering him along to gain some confidence in his team lonely -- mean you know it's kind of funny and paradox here because in the in the in the pre season. Randy Moss was all the ones in the course Tom Brady's well well once and that he thought that the office was way ahead. At this exit you know where they were last year of course we know what happened. And maybe in terms of learning that they have yet to really put that. Learning to use on the that we haven't seen it yet of course will never it would -- now you are taking a bit of -- I would take a little bit maybe a step back in order to hopefully take two steps forward on down the line we would like one step forward first. And then you know I would consider that probably being a little bit better prepared in the red zone -- where the offense has come up shortly first couple weeks where the deep into his improvements on the offense has not. And to me that the one glaring area right now that. Or -- my being a reporter covering this team. That's -- the Patriots have to show me you know and that was more than the areas that ethnic group you mentioned to -- here on the program yesterday arm. He's also not -- the Patriots defense. -- them. Set of the ball -- oh and 11 what was his reason just. Pretty much I think he's still concerned with the -- the ability of -- some linebackers and and certainly in the defensive backfield doesn't know that -- going to. Going to be able to him that I I disagree with -- and I'd I think the front seven is the strength of the team right now it is now. Right now it is in fact the front seven is everything on the -- it is going to help of the team away and right now and we have to help with the hope that their front seven continues to Lal. The backboard to improve. Also for yeah and you have you have a you have a great secondary when you have your past run what you don't have your pass rush or your secondary think it's the way -- everything I don't care how talented you -- because these receivers are so talented in this game. There's just nobody. That can really stay on one Antoine with the of the goings neighbors. A couple of good signs of him being early Mike Vrabel artist through -- On the -- Thomas has a stack and a half maybe. Richard Seymour sack and we're only going into week three and those guys as a birdie. Ahead of pace -- what they did last year fair enough. Ty Warren from what I've seen. Is going to be playing he's not getting numbers as far as tackle nobody's going to be in it you know -- yet plays he's about to deal is up in the back forcing running backs the go ones on the very from him. Ty Warren may be at his best right now but he has ever been he could be could be Vince Wilfork is coming off at all comparable season and doesn't look the Patriots front three is formidable as you'll find anywhere in the benefit and it is and Thomas and Vrabel are. Where they are most comfortable which is on the anti Russian. Not on the inside them in the on. And you received -- making plays well right now that the -- last week Clark with -- little to wash that I've -- yeah that was very that was that'll be on highlight -- the rest of -- season absolutely that will be one it was written the one of those highlights that you they'll help -- 2008. Without question that that was in oh what we hope to see now more opportunities. You know for a for Thomas for Vrabel being the edge rushers if you will -- Be able to make plays like that and they're going to be able to make plays like that if the front three can continue to clog up the middle. And the guys in the secondary can't continue to improve and at least. Hank step for step with the receivers. You know in that 510 yard area well."
[27:22]" Yeah I am he you bring up a good point I thought for the most part. My observation was Sunday at the corners especially Hobbs. Played tighter coverage and they have been right. In that in throughout the pre season and even last year that's good last year Erica Ellis Hobbs looks he'd been here and went yeah and I think he kind of said it either earlier this week or after the game that he really feels healthy again this year and you know he put a lot of the onus on that last year and it is not having. Being a 100% all season. He clearly was taking. More chances in the Jets game he was getting closer to the line of scrimmage. Now Favre doing what he does when a play breaks down and he runs around and he finds a guy for a first down on a busted play. You can't really -- music as you are supposed to stick with your your man when you're in man coverage but. That's what Favre doesn't know how he makes plays. You know but on the plays where he just struck back in the pocket. And aspiring. I liked what I saw like that the at the corners are playing tighter coverage. And I think that they'll need that in addition to the front seven getting pressure on whatever quarterback they have to go off the right."
[28:32]" let's let's take time out here and then now we're going to come back and that will look at some emails a couple of the stories that I want to share with Houston news -- being made today in the league at. That might we will certainly -- directly affect the Patriots in in their place in the players and their potential actions on the field. Say this at this stage again -- it's been sort of tucked under the carpet this week here you know under the -- this week with everything that's gone -- You know reacting about Matt Cassel and you know. All the other news -- going on and -- Porter opening up his mouth and all that kind of stuff. Last week's game that deep down he had -- for the Patriots was almost may have been one of the most impressive. Kicking performances that I've seen. In a long time by anybody and not because it was four -- your pupils which is great. Every kickoff. Was -- and -- one -- was -- the field position -- absolute. -- two -- out -- the back of the end -- it's -- I don't know from experience. Good -- attack. Yeah you're right now he talked about a little bit this week through it was a combination of his feeling good physically. And the weather conditions being just perfect -- For kicking the ball. There was a slight breeze that would come in and out. That you know you the -- in Giants Stadium yeah we're in the early on tunnel that comes in right particularly when he had his back to that tunnel. The ball sailing and -- really have to -- I think little bit of a line drive in some cases but I think he was doing them purpose to take advantage of the wind and try to get them. Extra yards on it and it worked. How great that go to be able to back that the team up like that where they can't start any better than the twenty yard I mean that's that's a great weapon it's an undervalued weapon very much Noah especially when you know the Jets have historically on Justin Miller hurt but historically they -- a decent return game. And to to keep them to make that null and void instantly -- it is it really is underrated in an epic. -- averaged 21 yard line for their field position for the game. Knowing an average their own 42. So they doubled they doubled and -- average starting field position. And you saw the result but shorter drives more more much more points he's here and I'm castle in the office absolutely."
[34:51]" That's what all of well I'm just wanted to bring up at least initially this does -- put -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell earlier today he's followed up. Of the -- a box of via com of the Bucs cornerback. Over Mac for his helmet to helmet hit on them Matt Ryan last week and I think this. Well certainly affects all players because he's going to put them on notice but this so goes back to the whole Brady thing two weeks ago. He is issued -- re emphasizing safety issues and warning. Now that even first time offenders -- going to be subject to discipline. He's quoted from this point for you should be clear on the following point any conduct that on -- at risk the safety of other players has no role in the game of football will be disciplined and increased levels including a first offense the memo that though Goodell wrote to all teams. Asking them to distributed to all players on the team and the Associated Press got a copy of today. Is quote continued playing by the rules shows respect your fellow players no one wants to -- on this very injury. I think that directly -- and -- two weeks ago -- It absolutely. Now I think we all agree that you know football is violent it's physical things like what happened they are marginal and emotional and it did things that are going to happen. But if you're going to fine. And -- has -- players ala how'd you find a guy like Vince Wilfork last year and you're not going to do this April dammit Tom Brady. In in relatively similar circumstance I mean a player basically getting blocked in two and one week in week we on -- with a guy who tech operating. Thank you Bernard Pollard record Pollard -- would present Bernard Pollard. You know he clearly reached in grabbed my -- if you're reaching grab for the legs you'd need to be held accountable and thinking. That part of what the messages here brought by commissioner Goodell today. Are you surprised that there weren't any repercussions from the -- mildly yet because because you talk about your reigning MVP and I would say that it Peyton Manning. I would that if you Eli Manning I would that if or any elite player and -- not in the should be kept him here where the elite players. Are treated differently than others okay I don't think that we need to go that far. But it -- that -- things need to be consistent with your punishment that you -- out to play if you're not going to punish players. That don't punish any don't punishments last year. Okay then. Consider the heat of battle it was just an unfortunate happenstance okay and move on with. What are you going to mete out punishment that you got beat and with a and I don't believe the NFL and can with. And maybe this addressing this issue as well he's put the players on notice right now if you do something that is -- quote unquote on Eric. It's really big animal and it's unnecessary can encompass a lot of things. If you do some of -- deemed unnecessary. Will be held accountable is -- But it's going to put a little bit of a ball in the back most guys' minds I think. If there on the ground there -- for -- wouldn't have had and an influence though if Pollard had gotten something a reprimand. A warning a fine yeah he should've done something on the should've been put in his quote unquote Lyle. You know I mean whether it was just a warning or reprimand her. Don't let it happen again kid you know greatest -- and again if I mean. Something should've been done and to mean is that band. Ams because that strictly is a fan not as a journalist here as a Patriot band. I'm disappointed in the National Football League for not at least things but I didn't expect Andy Klein. I really -- did not expect him. To be expanded I didn't think they hit or the play warranted that when I look at it from pure football perspective not a suspension but I thought a fine might have been in order especially having you don't want my 10000 dollar fine or -- 500 dollar fine. Oh would have been okay. Don't let it happen again. Type thing -- slap on the wrist for guys not even. I mean I mean it's not it's not and for most these guys I don't know about Bernard Pollard a when his contract but fact is that you do givens on. I think it would show that the and they'll try to be even handed and having the unifil brought this on themselves. By creating the kind of -- They're not -- Pollard and Brady the way they treated Wilfork or any other player or this when that Albert -- what how what the hell out of Matt Ryan last week. They're not treating it the and treat each case as an individual you know case which I -- right but in reality it doesn't work like. People tree hit and they treat play. Differently based on the severity of the outcome."
[39:40]" Yeah I. I just the Pollard thing I know he was very apologetic. As soon as it happened -- they gave him. I don't know that they've been because Vince Wilfork was very apologetic. After it happened not not necessarily on the field I don't think but. In the locker room afterwards and all that week he you know he actually reached out to Losman last year and said he was sorry. Pollard I think it's so. He claims on the field he set the very that he was -- McGrady was in that Pena it was a really responsive. But then in the media. Directly after the game he said you know I didn't mean and I went up to my coach right afterwards it's that in it. I take him at his word that he didn't mean to hurt very. But I don't think as like you had to be evenhanded I think you have to that the president. And be consistent with you get a -- it somebody's leg if you're going somebody's legs and if -- inadvertent right I do believe that something needs to be don't you can't because old time players leg next time you're gonna think about it. It may before you do it. Maybe that is that take the spontaneity. Out of the game. I think it's one of the thing that you have to be like about conscious them -- they've taken helmet to helmet contact out of the game. Why is that any more serious that whatever and guys like Matt -- planes -- committed a hit and Tom Brady's not him right. Yeah why is helmet to helmet more serious now -- go on after somebody lets go below the knee I think. Maybe I don't know they're treating it as more serious but I think there have been more instances of helmet to helmet hit and there have been. Quarterbacks. Going out for the season with the type of injury Brady had with that below. With that low hit him so I think there because there have been more instances of it and more guys having confined or reprimanded suspended or those types of hits. That is something that has become routine for players to think about now."
[41:47]" Not going helmet to helmet when they -- when it does happen like in this case. It's so rare now that the league automatically has to say well you know. We we have we have is -- to -- fine I think them if the low hit the quarterbacks. And injuring it becomes more prevalent. The NFL has the start finding are spending -- sports sport to become. Commonplace effort to become common knowledge among players that that's something that they don't even have to think about it anymore it's more for a natural reaction no when I'm down low I just don't let it go let it go to collect them."
[42:21]" Candidate here's the other part. Of of vote commissioner -- memo. That really gets me. -- read this story as. He's -- he's speaking directly to Albert Mac in this particular instance. Your actions are particular concern in light of the of the is that our office has placed on developing and enforcing rules designed to protect players from injury. Including concussion the safety of our players is Paramount to all of us in the NFL."
[42:50]" I'm floor and I sort of that I agree -- it but I sure I'm -- it was it's a double standard. Yeah an absolute double and I wish we heard more about the last Nokia. I agree I think the doubles and it on the Patriots I'm really up with a like where were you last week Mench. Where were you on Bernard Pollard where word you. Why is taking now we've lost you know lost Pedro can look at them look at the inability you've lost your reigning MVP eat that's not good. For you is a league to have your best player to have your most known player one of your numbers are good for business. And you gotta put kid gloves all to come to treating Tom Brady when -- and that but if you're gonna you know take care of Matt Ryan. Why you didn't care Tom Brady is because the legs aren't as important as the head is that what was here. Yeah I think I think that's exactly what they think and I think that's what it was ridiculous things I've ever yeah. I -- amendment I don't get -- I don't I don't I don't get -- that's why I brought up -- I -- I really -- I agree with his actions in the -- situation just. Which you've done something more noted on some even if it with your writing and it was a letter of reprimand -- dog and you what you need to watch what you do. Yeah sent a memo to all team -- like this thing yes exactly I think at the very really wanted that. And they've got nothing. That we dog. -- well I mean let me let me let let. I love the conspiracy theory huge. Our -- I'll X files I'm I'm totally into the hole JFK Pittsburgh you know more than one -- with -- okay. Here's the conspiracy thing because despite it last year. You think they'll just isn't cut the Patriot and like as he."
[44:39]" now I don't. I don't I don't think that because. You know he. He knows what he's got with the Patriot he knows that that he knows he's attic you would think he yeah I think he I think he knows what he's got he's got a good thing here. He knows that this -- this is a worldwide fan base. He knows it like you said they have. One of if not the most visible. Players in the league he's the face of the NFL right now. No I don't think you take I don't think he's taking it out on that because. You know honestly I think -- it is in the past. And I think it and they get Delgado -- can operate and I think what I think I think the league I think the team I think everyone the fans I think they've put that in the past you know there might be some fans of other teams who don't like the Patriots. Who would like to keep bringing it up. But I think for the most part I'll -- Level I think that's I think is behind us I think other coaches -- the league certainly when we were at the Columbine. Coaches and GM's Ned you know the few times reporters tried to bring it up they said you know what looked and that's in the past and I was six months ago or more he now that was along."
[45:44]" Notice though that you know and Shannon Sharpe runner up last week and -- today. Is -- you know you know any directly addressed coach -- and all of you all the three department he directly dressed coach Belichick in the pregame. Andy that you know if you do. Coach Belichick can pull this off with neck -- quarterback forget all about spike. I'll forget all about like nobody brought anything up. But he was showing that he has that personal agenda I guess that's the memory loss this week I suppose. In what he actually was all -- the one that beat the Jets last week. Not surprisingly -- almost everybody did you want the -- Brothers should consumers another it'll blow up the rear and that includes early on national network that the bug at the rear and about the Patriots. Lot of guys I think a lot of people do. For the team that is is the dominant team of the decade is clearly the dominant team of the decade. Could be could be you know they won three Super Bowls and one -- sixteen -- last year in the regular season. They were in the AFC championship game two years ago. This is the team the king is dead long live the king -- you know what to do when they want to chop the one down to bring another one and look the Cowboys have a worldwide and make sure that. But they certainly have their share of haters are on the waksal still even when they were bad people love to see the Cowboys lose yeah. Even when they were bad the Cowboys were never that bad for that law or that bad for that long but even when they weren't a few times people a -- to hate them because they remember the good. Right times the same thing with the Patriot now the Patriots -- achieve that level of success that people hate them. No matter what they'd. Bring in NFL Richard courted for me is --"
[47:15]" Friend Russell Baxter into the Patriots -- rush hour today. Good how we got great old Eric -- you know from PFW. -- you don't compete W oh very good or you and great epic with or just -- darkest day what that market. -- Weekly and and take it slowly. You know and won it yet document pro football yes and -- I think. That well at least -- competition. CP and one college and pro football -- a -- the United without one week I'm only ever -- with things would work letters. Now know NBC CBC ESP -- 2000 people who abuse only four letter words and Arizona and earned a they always show some guys for a lot of --"
[48:16]" I have absolutely and we know we were actually getting into. The story that commissioner Goodell out that memo to teams around league today. Concerning the line that Albert Mac will be serving -- paying for his hit on Matt Ryan last week and wondering why maybe it took a week. After you know Bernard Pollard did to Tom Brady for this to get around the league -- thought or any of the guys that you work with have any thoughts about that today."
[48:44]" No we haven't -- yet you know took what the latest news and so and I would imagine you know about from what I still would be over Mexicans is what his second. Second offense."
[48:54]" And is going to -- I think it would repeat violation for them. Yes like that why maybe that was certainly Switzerland and he -- what suspended for one game in the universe in the lines like right that's a good way to argue week. But I think that's probably why it would seem polite. If you don't know -- things that we can happen. Suspension and so we never hear about the first and second at bat. We we just hear about the suspension the -- we have to put two and two together and realized that while this -- most of them wrong -- two times. For a ticket to this stage and I would imagine that'll be. You know with the speculation -- I think most of the you know most of the attention this week off the field. Flashed on the field as it toward Broncos game in which is in you know. Guess what he's getting E mail he email. Yeah. Yeah I would -- 41 seconds 41 sentence and somebody letter in the."
[49:58]" I don't know but I feel badly for -- because he's been a superlative round draft for a number of hitters and it just shows you we're all human we would all make mistakes."
[50:05]" Well I doubt that's not true I -- since this is my neck and I checked and I got a list of all the guys eat out and luckily get a little research you know and do numbers -- does not one of those people ever meet mistaken alone. Okay it was just. -- I understand the commitment I mean come on --"
[50:27]" And you know the thing hockey league. Went up to the coach afterwards and that -- I'm sorry my mind that I messed up. I'm done and you know at least he had the gumption to do that I I don't think a lot of people would have done. I think there would have internally they might is that -- I really -- that I needed them but they were kept to themselves. Shall villa."
[50:49]" And we all work with people would done. Yeah. Yeah you're probably are you work with right now would've done probably. To gender or. A exactly I'm surrounded by them exactly that. It's. True but it's so true and happens he -- up to it was honest mistake. Effect became absolutely B yeah -- capable back I totally understand but it's. It's you know while we -- played by -- Incredible human being makes the call. On the other on the other side of it. Norv Turner's reaction. Kinda -- Can -- the moment kind of thing actually scored do you think he regrets now having gone overboard in his criticism."
[51:38]" Ultimately regret that I think -- sort of honest emotions it's time Eric. You know it just just like. Well if he regrets it and shorted regrets making a mistake in the right thing to get -- it's the same thing else so you know it's it is what happens happens and stuff and north -- to get ready for the New York Jets yeah. Okay he can play he can put what led that thing what happened last week -- mind or can be ill prepared and wind up being don't play. Now we know last year but went to want to super ball. We also know they don't three. Point five times in history to lead. The team rebound from going to reinforce -- need to play in the so I decided that's history that's that's eighty years history so."
[52:23]" I think it works in their favor that they play in the job this week. Jessica and I went oh -- absolutely it it sucks to be the Jets this -- agree with you. And Darren -- exactly cherry type project known known true it was it was speaking of that I mean what are your overall impressions of of how well Mac has a low. Handled himself and help the team in the performance in the year of the week AB after Brady."
[52:50]" Well. I know I noticed comfortably beat that they can actually win a football game with you about the quarterbacks thrown for 400 yards. -- usually win more cool games when your quarterback doesn't throw for 400 yards yeah but. I know you guys remember the Patriots when Brady first took over. In -- you think of the irony of this the first. Being number eighty start with a week three game as the Colts look at home. They want 44 to thirteen team coming touchdown passes the compliment. To get through war on us and I think it was non -- Yeah I think Ty Law would -- game that day okay yeah there a couple of defensive towards the right word you know green. Fifty touchdown and he'd interceptions Tom Brady. How did the but it the Patriots football John Q and I've talked about this when he kinda -- admire but the Patriots. -- forced Super Bowl appearances and a different style offense at times it got there. They of all we weren't that makes -- of interest -- they know all the way in the games. Okay when -- won Super Bowl in 2000. Raiders Steelers and the postseason. Their offense quarter retouched industry play. Offensively it. Their defense and special teams which -- And they want -- super. They'd had to play football again -- away and finally into sole. It started -- seems to be -- Jets and the Buffalo Bills. Not the Miami Dolphins right now you know they're there every very rebuilding mode so want. You've got to learn -- team in your own building. Which bigger Jets announced dropped eight straight at home to the New England Patriots. The news that the that the funding that most fundamental things about the National Football League is. It's controlling your division first. And that's the reason that the Patriots -- play up to be major excellent at all times. There's a reason they beat the bills nine times and era. If they concentrate on the things they have to do get into the playoffs then you know. -- start with the easiest road when you gotta you gotta start which start knocking off speaking before he can become the K yeah. And I think I think everybody got a lesson in the resiliency. Of the dominant currency you -- I was -- that figured listening chipped. A dominant."
[55:18]" All helps. The right. It I'm we've had more injuries to deal with this week in terms of news and things that are going on I mean obviously. Oh Bob Sanders going to mess it up to six weeks with a knee injury this week the I find that. Interest include it in his prognosis for turn it just happens to fall in week nine all about the time that they meet new England and -- and come back the ground. We also saw -- the quarterback moving made -- to Boris Jackson is being told now he's gonna it from Minnesota Gus Frerotte apparently is going to get the reins for the rest of the year. I just it I don't that happened I'm not sure it does either put the same time. Russell I guess the overall point years that I and that some teams -- but a few teams after two weeks turned press or at least point to. Looking at the panic button."
[56:09]" Post a question of both have you had -- built from I have confidence in the young man. To. The other guys starter for the rest of the year yeah I don't get -- That's pretty good to tell me that I as a panic move I yeah it's absolutely panic move and I mean not it's not going to art is going to start this week. It we we'll see what happened quite rightly yeah I think it that I don't understand and I think. There a sense of panic there there's no question about it it's a panic move and or it's a move by a coach who does not that good. And doesn't really make I think."
[56:48]" Don't look at it again. You know it's I understand the fact that this is -- lead that anything can happen. But you gotta let those things happen. And I think we're so quick because of the last few years world would try to pick that Cinderella. Or at least trying to kick that door course team. What that means to find out after world -- the moves they've made in the offseason that the that the Minnesota Vikings would mean he meets football team. And suddenly people at the top two teams in the industry. Again. You come back all week long. You've got to learn to Wayne. Before you win them the okay the Vikings where it -- I just couldn't understand -- everybody and again. What happens it happens in the New Orleans Saints went from three of thirteen to a game within the Super Bowl a couple of years ago we concede that company but. We can see that coming because it was unexpected certainly -- teams like well there's no part four. Indeed and a seed north okay -- what's that they're the best thing they just gave up that's -- draft pick a lot of money get Jared out he's the missing piece. They got Adrian Peterson we got agree you know there's a particularly good it was only -- they can't -- to be you know -- don't think of course ticket. The -- proved it last year. But you know. Play play from behind don't you know who wants to be the favorite anymore. Who wants to be the -- you know go out take your your business and before you know we -- going so fast now. This Internet and so -- I believe it has a peripheral. Affect. On the kids -- I three kids who play these games -- both college and professional sport I think that's why the underdog right now. Because the pressure is so overwhelming from the fans from the media and so and in some -- in disagree with me you will. The art of winning. In some instances -- on -- been taken. Because. When you win now you're supposed to win well thank you to release. Doesn't necessarily have that choice you know issue whether it's."
[58:58]" It's a business transaction. And what what's the big idea we did picture of -- on the a lot of coaches in the league would agree with that particular -- now I think our I think our own -- hallway here I have to go along those lines and yeah so it's all the fun out of winning."
[59:13]" Our the New England Patriots. And the Indianapolis Colts. It to a degree Seattle Pittsburgh Philadelphia green day they come back all your -- your -- playoff these are much all the -- and admired."
[59:26]" Because they know how to do right and they do it every year and they managed -- back memories in the face of adversity that means to do regardless of circumstances -- mean. Get -- for at least the next. Four to six weeks. The offensive in decent players to be here tonight. You know Bob Sanders -- on Brady out of the -- and that's pretty tough. Pretty itself that's a tough thing to have to the media posed the question on and it all. Sunday and -- but good -- absolutely last week lookalike who could least afford. We want. And -- you know."
[1:00:00]" Analysts speculate on different teams. My answer what the national football."
[1:00:06]" Let's -- afford a week where we lose Tom Brady. And chew on merit Patten and cutter cutter cutter very good that's not good indicate when that many deep."
[1:00:15]" Which is why we open up the whole discussion here earlier Russell about you know why did it take. Another week of questionable hit in one in the head as well as compared to one in the legs. For -- commissioner to issue a memo to the other team on the leagues and fellas you gotta watchers. You know why didn't take long and why are they giving helmet to helmet contact more consideration than -- global legs below the --"
[1:00:39]" I don't know it's it's almost like -- you know we John you -- shall forward you know I -- you know what to deftly read every act. Somebody says something to -- made a big deal about something in all of a sudden gets what public but I get the feeling because. You know did anybody know that. Albert -- a -- keys to this before. We find no ill after not only is not about it afterwards yeah and so on so deep now that are -- have a history do miss obviously --"
[1:01:08]" And well is well we don't know do we don't. Well we -- to answer we don't know."
[1:01:14]" get a lot of that's that's probably the better answer that right now it would mean we don't know maybe he's maybe he's gotten you know the slap on the wrist. Or letter memo would maybe got -- for met Barkley for all."
[1:01:28]" I don't -- it seemed genuinely apologetic. All throughout the post game interviews and."
[1:01:35]" I don't think there's any question -- slippery power to be normal when he came in the -- couple years ago and you know great to really outstanding special teams player. Really ups being great coverage knack for blocking kicks and complicate the guys who goes full board all the time you know what I saw him into. -- need to wait he did it was so what's it -- watching them on special teams trying to blocked -- yeah I think that's just the way he plays a mean obviously no malice intended obviously he felt -- afterwards I guess that giving him. The benefit of the doubt that less likely -- less likely get double back to the benefit of the doubt because we know that he's been warned before well."
[1:02:13]" I given the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean to hurt Brady certainly. I given the benefit of the doubt on that what I'm just questioning in and we talked about it earlier in the show was. How did the league not take any steps to address this. They're taking a step to address Matt -- getting hit in the head that Matt Ryan is playing this Sunday -- by the way. And we didn't hear anything from the league last week about Tom Brady who's oh by the way out for the year. I just see that I don't see why they did one for one and not the the other especially when others here and VP."
[1:02:45]" If you want to take it as a step further I don't you guys have much discussed. What's the difference with Vince Wilfork yeah exactly exactly that would the times that he's been flagged or refined or vote. For some it has its as well last last year so and so this listener to there's a little lacking consistency and so -- I mean I. Very much like it'd -- debates. -- A player being reprimanded and not necessarily coach -- reprimand it's so I think we're still kind of sorting that that's why I kinda -- the term reader reacted like if someone makes a mistake nobody seemed to -- He big stink. Out of bogey pollard's hit the first day now -- mathematics. Try to -- off I think the discussion afterwards would -- now. Okay yeah Nam did I get I think this was only brought -- I don't think anybody goes over blanket until that happens yeah. Catcher and so -- all of a sudden it's a big discussion but you know sometimes when these -- things like this start to get wings. That all of a sudden we start building a little deeper deeper deeper. And all of a sudden the attendance up and -- you know -- the periscope is up -- all of a sudden will be watching everything a lot more closely but usually just like. Last week we have the Shockley situation. The NFL's response now we're going to look at this at the meetings. So."
[1:04:07]" Well here's a thing now if if you are player and you intentionally. Grab a face mask of another player. Flag goes down you get fifteen yards right."
[1:04:19]" If your. Theory on it got that that was that was going to be in my that was I didn't announced a drug if you mistakenly grabbed a face mask. And in the in the process of trying to make a tackle a flag goes down you get fifteen yards. Intent. Is not an issue. The fact you have to consistently call face masks is the issue. So my point is. Whether or not Bernard Pollard or Vince Wilfork meant to go after JP Losman -- Tom Brady's legs. There should be a consistency in the reaction to the play."
[1:04:52]" I I totally agree. To just I agree with your point but also point out was how long did it take to get to that stage of -- a lot of details on the speculation -- you know. An exciting responsible -- you only have five yards versus -- debate whether. It's 550 right we're now going to say need to take your hand off the -- might get fifteen. Yeah the point that we took them now remember the first your face desperately need. I want to start a panel I think I think in the fifties. The fifties and sixties I think it was the that as separate sport -- guys by basement conflict out. -- applicable differently -- the sixties if but. You know as -- recently. You know it's. Running into partner and about it would probably change that. You know you get enough to stick with some of these things and all of -- nickel back and look at it and tweak it repeat over which we did escape. Well week -- in this game you guys that know that as well -- anyone and in the offseason we're going to be tweak it some more we took two weeks. Ticket to new tweak -- that's."
[1:06:03]" True and and and actually going to an active started the season as an absolutely you know he's very that you're you're very right resolute as they read and we actually. Took. The let's not let off the very least you're trying to hit a couple of games this week I want to start with your game in the Monday night game so because -- can -- about the Jets San Diego and San Diego's. At its only injury problems in the Jets are kind of walking into -- literally and maybe know what they're walking into. In light of what happens with the at hotly situation last week. I know the San Diego's right now is not a five and a half point favorite at home is there any doubt though that San Diego does and get their first win of the season."
[1:06:44]" Well I won't say this John generic. It's ego you know be hit merry band played the first week. And didn't play the second week I have tickets -- your Chargers don't -- thirteen -- There and I think that the Jets offense looked pretty good. Again it would let's keep something in mind here they let the Carolina Panthers come down the field. In the final two and a half minutes and beat them at home. Last week they made -- play well you know forget it but -- Marshall caught eighteen past week. Against them so we haven't seen we've seen the Chargers decent the kinda -- In the playoffs in the second half the year last year you know -- start to play decent like that where you're. Giving up that they the way out -- team to -- on the field and again it's it's hard to put. It's hard to kind of put a concrete number on it because we -- they need to stop big baby play. Even though would actually Jay Cutler who dropped the ball that would force in the dropped the ball so. But you know it's spelled Jay Cutler suitable over the Jake DelHomme was able to drive down the field on the I'm a little conservative he has decent. More than anything else and it's not necessarily just -- that they give a couple of passing yards and teams that are able to movable ground on them as well also. -- and LT got pulled pivotal issue Antonio Gates will tell which you feel privileged place to rhetoric. There's no question about that envelope on -- gonna chalk this one up because you're here well site. It's twenty to fourteen Diego under five minutes left the Jets have a ball. -- the element of doubt start to creep into the -- charter."
[1:08:28]" of -- maybe yeah. Yeah I think it probably does."
[1:08:31]" I -- because that's what we've seen so far we've seen teams have been able to come down the field. And -- let's throw well let's throw out the fact that the team Diego. Beat the Denver scored in the game Denver still came down the field on -- big -- was waiting on an advantage take the lead and -- They certainly have playmakers on their offense. I mean the Rivers we talked about Darren Sproles was tremendous last week. Both on offense and special teams so they certainly. -- consider -- a very tail -- the last few years for one reason or another -- missed the playoffs but it early out or. I think just what wrong to be a -- they have been healthy bodies. -- the play also over the what a gut check when they had at Indianapolis have been bigger bats but couldn't beat the New England Patriots. It's something it's always seems to be -- here and they've gotten off to a the very sluggish start if they don't start winning some of and he gets very early this season and Denver continues to play the way they're playing mr. Cutler looks tremendous. -- could put themselves because so little hole -- and it won't matter publicly residencies -- the people climbing uphill all year."
[1:09:40]" Let some little ball within the division to Oakland at Buffalo. And only because. For welfare of recoveries and one Oakland got their first win may be somewhat surprising that they did get one last week. Tanzania and while Buffalo seems to be the sort of the and the chic pick right now I actually got to the AFC east. Let rescued from the perspective. What about Buffalo -- gives you reason to think that they could be in this for the long haul."
[1:10:09]" Because just like Carolina. Did in the draft Buffalo did it a year earlier via free agency. For the most part they've fortified themselves on the offensive -- decent supply. And it trench why is this that this this they're built off until -- very well last year. They've got a hard charging hard running backs physical Beckett Marshawn Lynch. They seem like they have some young stability it's going to make his mistakes and Trent Edwards. You know big big big one out got -- party the wide receiver visible Forsythe scout near the goal line. They just are better football team work counts most. And that's in the whole. And I don't think you could say that recent years but the bills they had you know they've had some good players it's an Eric Bolton Lee Evans and and I'm just gonna go back -- biomedical waste because. Well the build -- a -- to -- in the music city miracle that was our last playoff appearance. They've not been at a player of this decade. But going out and get the guys they have on the offensive to -- of life. Lines you know struggle at some solid skill people and that's how you win football games you still win it would blocking and tackling. Playing good defense. You know there and that's why teams like -- new England and Philadelphia Pittsburgh although they consistent. Big states stable up front. And whether or not stable up front and I'm sure recoba Indian Jackson all of a little while some. No matter what we're still people are it's not going to matter because if you can't block for the or protect them. You're having a lot of trouble."
[1:11:45]" That you -- I just. I I Vick Groce who you know obviously very well again please have -- good friend of the program here and very well respected individual. Throughout the league what he does and he told me yesterday yeah Russell that you know he -- for real and -- to -- doubts in the Patriots just because of the overall impression. That I guess that everybody is left with with a -- being. Quarterback last from you know Tom brings perspective. As it does that mean then that you sort of denigrating the rest of the team. And it and you know regard. -- Buffalo's concern. When has Buffalo done it to worry you've you know given them this much confidence. You know I mean that fact is -- is Buffalo very very highly ranked as it how can we make this judgment after two weeks."
[1:12:30]" Right and -- you know I'm never one of those people so I'm going to paraphrase -- bouncing the wrong thing coming Buffalo it was better because New England is not as good."
[1:12:41]" You know what that probably has good reason as you do. Yeah. -- Doing. Yeah I'm I'm Jessica I'm I'm guessing that he's got to be the you know the underlying. Reason. Behind the way people thinking the way they -- I mean how much why else what other reason is they're for the Patriots being ranked lowly in all these you know thinking power ranking polls. And the bills ranked that high. Well the reason is there."
[1:13:09]" Well I would also admirable that would factor here believe the teams play each other first -- and yes and then in the season finale. Yes effect correct yes. The Bible questions gave up 94 points in two games against New England Patriots right. The Buffalo Bills have lost nine games grow -- England Patriots right. A guy or we think that it's just going to let out a better because Tom Brady's daughter out. But they that there. Are going to agree with either yeah okay you know Shelby. And."
[1:13:44]" That was the whole point he said that the bills had to show him that two weeks in the Patriots had not. That that that Ottawa."
[1:13:52]" That's an example."
[1:13:56]" It vacation. -- after eight weeks are -- I'm beginning to Bolivia."
[1:14:02]" I have yet but from -- point also is this is another team is it could just because. A competitive team lost a player."
[1:14:16]" Work out that you'll riding perception on the -- the Patriots worked because don't want."
[1:14:21]" Orchid and I've heard other people say -- they've got a really good shot that they're going to have a really good your practice schedule was week. Lets us know what they're really good football team. Or you can only they're going to have a good record. Since the different all things a role as the true all the real difference that would decode. So what they get a player doesn't have to play a really good football team and -- haven't played really good football people here. Specifically would you just say. Well our product of their schedule. With courts they did -- did -- think he would never make any -- this thing it you know he -- parity. What difference if you're schedules make."
[1:14:58]" is not supposed to but. But undoubtedly when the -- do lose or or or what are the regional and again the play offs. And people they load the play in the regular season they're not going to be ready to play in the playoffs you know that that argument is comic."
[1:15:09]" Like it's coming listen we -- our argument with worldly or courtroom -- Again. You're finishing your argument around shortcomings other. He just doesn't make any sense a team is good because another team or somebody. Okay. Today it's Mike or is mr. beak sure Corey has flat tire."
[1:15:34]" Yeah true that's true yeah."
[1:15:37]" I didn't get any factor. But I probably the batter on it will be. English you'll got a jacket you're getting into -- sideline to this kind of you know repair -- added we thank our fans there. That just team D. I'd better should think pleasure to hear your coupled -- aggressive net that that's a that's the argument I have. About the schedule this is a really good. But not that good what you're saying it -- really that they could but the what a lot of games -- because of their schedule right under the symbol thing going to -- to Tampa all the time -- personally play it well you'll beat anybody. Immediately completely healthy -- lose to anybody."
[1:16:14]" I personally I think -- knew by the way I personally that you castigate each member of your on on your set when they when they used that argument can. -- machines scream there here don't be an idiot. Well."
[1:16:28]" But basically it's every minute. I'm not known -- I would do that Muslims or I'll let you into right there is I'm not going to put you on the that's -- covenant on yeah. Yeah they accurately to read. Let's talk to pocono and get it here it is that it is Tara you will be let's go --"
[1:16:50]" Jacksonville Indianapolis matchup because he got you know obviously here's a team that was very lucky to win last week I think Peyton really took the team on his shoulder most people feel like he did last week when a game they had no business winning. And and maybe Minnesota even lost that game more than Indianapolis want it but they're going to biggest team in Jacksonville who is one of the great disappointments overall. I would think at least through two weeks are we going to -- to we have show league so. And -- got to do this on the -- how much pressure is really on the Jaguars."
[1:17:18]" Well I think there's a lot of pressure you know wanted these. You know these are like -- your -- in -- team. This year and -- no one's going to and I don't want to watch but it certainly do have a comment. -- and play games department to centers for either want to beat Spain's. No because that's is where they've gotten really earlier broke these teams that -- really Indianapolis starting a rookie. Tom's -- a rookie guard and another part of the complaint last year. Jacksonville has to their guards and I are right and you want and Maurice Williams and Brad Meester is great to come back -- Indianapolis might get. Just started back this week it's not out of -- possibility at least you know he had been practicing and so in both these teams have really. Take this thing -- tell you the difference now is. -- put the great thing about -- Is for many years he. As best he could could make up for the loss of their decent last week he really made up ought. Of his offensive -- upfront we're a source said that he still -- should throw for 300 yards last because he needed to. And I think it's interesting it is. Typical art who totally thrown three interceptions in two games which is as NEC Pruitt quote starts last year. Been sacked nine times. In two games. He's probable that forty fewer times than Peyton Manning. And Peyton and actually -- sacked four times. So Peyton. -- is so much about how to play this game -- find other ways to offset defected he doesn't have his main guys in front man. It was all said and done what he called Minnesota losing it or not. The Indianapolis Colts got outplayed forgot to would have quarters and somehow managed to squeak out a win and it hit a lot that would champion does. That would champion that's that's what team has won the division five years and -- has done and here we go again Jacksonville it would have been the police. For the upcoming bully. They would not consistently been able -- should fit just now about not been consistently able to beat the Colts also struggle with the Titans and Texans in the division. They've not done a great job beating that team being VP. In order to win that AFC -- Innocent he would -- out came about they have you know. They want -- to play -- a few times but it seemed a bit Tennessee won here right and the -- the last five years. You gotta learn how to beat the teams within your division and is banged up -- India is in some ways Drexel might be more banged up. When you're a power running game with two backside it like Fred Taylor. And Maurice Jones Drew don't mean think about it. They try to look at road averaged almost a 150 yards a game rushing monster they have a 131 yards rushing into games."
[1:20:04]" Right the Indianapolis score runs for 78 yards and two games. While I don't think -- really -- eight or department over to the cap like I haven't. It was like Brett -- That's another quote from my point is Peyton -- also that's what they don't have right now. I don't think typical art in any position to do it and -- it doesn't vetoed the two contenders set a Tennessee sit there too though. -- some of their own problems to worry about you know. You know great defense but to -- I think we have question marks about their offense. This could be one of those divisions -- you know -- six out of the Colts don't run away when it and told the Colts get healthier -- Now what about Bob Sanders beat him -- and that's -- go walking wounded I think I think both teams Mike combined they have. 44 guys on the field period well between Jack's ability idea there's really a lot of walking wounded --"
[1:20:56]" It's going that way. -- let me also get to a couple of games we touch on the Patriots briefly one -- on the night game Dallas Green Bay I think certainly has. Every reason to be maybe one of the best games if not the best game of the week list weekly speaking because the way that Aaron Rodgers played thus far -- Green Bay you'd have to admit that at least at this stage of the game Green Bay is moved. To go ahead and putting him in there and and giving him in charge of the offense has been a pretty good move in Dallas I think it's playing. As well if not better than just about anybody in the league this early exit again."
[1:21:26]" Yeah and -- of last year go to nursing these teams played lecturer Thursday yeah Thursday night and you know two things really came that if you think about it on. Once Dallas won that game. They were anointed in in it for most part the team to -- the -- right right they'd never recovered from it never did. They were the other stretched almost lost to Detroit. They lost at home to Philadelphia yeah lackluster against Carolina. Didn't really played their guys. Against Washington added two weeks later were playoff teams out. Last year that gave no Brett Favre got hurt and Kane Aaron Rodgers. And after a couple of years where we -- shall we haven't Aaron Rodgers and he got on the field against the Patriots couple years ago got hurt immediately. I think there were going to -- Aaron Rodgers that need packer. The packer Brett. Not saying well way to get it Brett Favre. Won't feel a lot better about this kid that we work. The first year yeah. So that -- got to be pivotal game in a lot of ways it is that these but it seems that. Had to do best record in the conference -- in this -- and now we have two quarterback coming -- airplanes you know like self football. And -- defenses that -- I think we all would be better in the early gallant. -- teams have shown the ability to move the football audience. So we can only hope that we get 4137. The -- Monday night you know. And maybe we get 5147. But I think you're going to -- some points on. Part of both teams. And you don't get too young exciting quarterback who broke you know -- I -- waited their turn. For different reasons obviously Roger as the first Olympic Antonio was never drafted. But he certainly waited their turn and -- the future of these franchises and I get very entertaining game openly and."
[1:23:22]" Oh wait -- and I'd here were you surprised that the game last month and I got the ratings it did. Pleasantly so I'm sure but in -- congratulations for them but I didn't."
[1:23:32]" Much that I -- I think since most people the country no I work on the broadcast I think that's what. Now that's probably what the appeal was excellent coach Odom that the one and only run back was working on the right while also rated R I it was a surprise of the -- been mistreated in -- probably a little bit. I know there -- a lot of excitement going into the game because of the week Philadelphia Dallas both really. You know. Beat up on the freedoms and the programs. Okay and I think could be affected. Don McNabb is coming off 306 regardless of their point. Okay added that the Eagles were coming off scoring a lot of points in the -- we decal which and so. And -- I mean before it was twenty to fourteen Philadelphia that game had everything that it it had a big plays it had -- beautiful place. In head butted defensive scores special teams scores. It was it was the whole -- And you know if you were indeed -- turn it on at the very beginning it was a long before you had that game on and keep up to the very end and you know before when those two teams play each other again."
[1:24:39]" Very true are the other game or touch on briefly as the yeah battle for Pennsylvania bragging rights Pittsburgh Philadelphia. You know at Pittsburgh obviously to an all lot of people seem to think the date now that in a Pittsburgh may be the team to beat in the AFC will Philadelphia show that. You know if they're not as good as Dallas they're not far behind too many teams as well that overall they may -- better than some people gave them credit for both for the season started I think that that Pittsburg Philadelphia has a chance be as good as any game this week."
[1:25:09]" Yeah I think it to be a lot of fun. You know yes. Viewers who really kind middle for two weeks look -- column style wise historically style wise they look more like a team from it from the team three years ago in 20042005. Where. Point by choice now really decide to put the onus back on the running game -- decent. And get the pass from Ben Roethlisberger went -- in bed -- so many big plays when he. Don't think he's going to make them of their offensive line I think is played better than people figured they would be accorsi was down phonetic and lectured at a lot of problems. Protecting Ben Roethlisberger so but I think -- after taking. Less cheated they felt running. Percent of the -- maybe -- seniors the opportunity that we were eventually they're always getting in trouble Philadelphia. With today that it playmaker DeSean Jackson. You know once he realizes that the football field a hundred yards -- the -- Talk. And I thought maybe it was a lateral it to -- letters. Plate but I mean you know hold my. Peace through it yeah it's the same thing I can understand. Anybody care who it is diving into the end zone from the one what it's just get into -- that it's fine. I think can catch -- and credit I mean you could. -- people work. But the -- he begins his whole antics after he gets -- Okay the music -- commit to wouldn't want. What happens if you drop that ball. You'll it -- and you'll be a Dick Clark show progress -- your life no kidding okay but I mean. What he'd -- Fortunately -- You know it's funny and burner that get an escalator bonus and a contract for another touchdown that be funny at the moment. -- but in any case they should be fund. You know it's a -- wait for isolated preview the Steelers and Eagles. Super Bowl preview of the work week. Sure some of the -- that -- somewhere somebody. But. Yeah I think. So many people figured. They were little surprise it would probably more radical people walks. That it is definitely what they want when they beat -- game but didn't look like they have their confidence back. Baby plays when they had to make plays that defensively racing like he had some old. But they -- a bit and look at this game because. Look at the tight end. In this game. Keep an adjustment and keep an eye on he Miller. Jason Witten had a big game against the Eagles the other night in Bryant got a little trouble covered them. -- plated 34 a lot of times very vulnerable at tight end of that style or deepened. Once we haven't Roethlisberger and media about the receivers -- wideout David beat a tolerated. Who control the middle of field just. Just strode out there that."
[1:28:09]" Obviously a good -- to look for. That brings us obviously to Miami at New England 1 o'clock eastern time on them on Sunday I I would ask you point blank is there anyway at least your estimation. That Miami wins this global game what is New England have to do to lose."
[1:28:27]" Forced. -- old. The bad month well except. They're little it's called his what is it that the the Patriots have won 21 straight regular season. The last team to beat them was Miami in this but since then since they beat them that it. The Dolphins are one and one correct -- there wanted to Washington. If they're obviously the rebuilding note. Okay yeah. The Dolphins. I think the thing to keep to nine on his you know I hurdle -- talk last week that. Matt Cassel didn't necessarily try to deep ball which -- sure that's restrictive -- first NFL start start productivity art."
[1:29:07]" Well yeah the deep ball is taken right away I mean right. The other coach Belichick even blame here on Monday at the you on the judge rolled a safety over in effect doubling down on -- that left everything open underneath at a and that happened at least to have a dozen times or -- for Tom Brady."
[1:29:22]" I would that would that's my point -- doin' it come. -- making his first start a -- I spoke to go -- throw for four New York incredible value play -- strikes by but my other point it is. Miami's vulnerability. With their deep peace which state seemed very unsettled at that position -- and you'd seen big little big play. From Brett Favre in the first game and you saw a lot of big plays from the Arizona Cardinals last week. I think that Kessel takes three or four shots down field does he want -- to oval will pay off I agree because of the opponent airplane. And take advantage of that and that that's going to make it up because I think of Miami finds itself. -- fourteen. Were -- seventeenth. Either quickly or whatever they're just not built yet. To overcome that so. We shall see but I think that it with him the ball a little bit better you know we know. The regime there is very important. And won't get it done but it. Well look -- New England. -- Greek team was built the day it takes usually three or four days yeah so in any case it's it's just let the Dolphins time."
[1:30:35]" Right but no more than that report -- all tolerate around that -- expect our future -- coach that's right absolutely Russell Greg talk with you again thank you very much for the for the extra time it's always appreciated you know my pleasure and and and Erica well he's still there but he actually went upstairs to finish writing is tougher in this week's magazine out -- never write anymore. That's exactly right John -- talks have a good weekend and tip aren't Rusch as Baxter again -- a they'll research coordinator or."
[1:31:04]" Yet in the family of networks. -- is here on Thursday as he always does talked football take a look at the heat. [1:32:30]" Well let -- here again we're Sunday means you're doing of the football. Whether it delegating in the parking lot throwing the pigs get around to just hang in in in watching the game on the tube it's all about football. And when you're not watching football -- playing football well I think we both know you're thinking football. And all that and making a little Hungary. [1:34:27]" They had up the home stretch. For Patriots playbook -- today for the third -- also for this week as well and don't forget that. Coming up probably -- and about twenty minutes of -- low down with Brian -- so. If you I have your your fantasy questions for him and things about what you have vote for your team more teams coming up this week. Who looked like those just after 4 o'clock eastern time in the meantime. If you have bought on a score prediction for Sunday. Obviously everybody thinks that this is going to be overwhelmingly. In favor of the Patriots. Because I certainly have anything to the contrary in fact. Only a couple of scores have come and -- I'm glad that you're overconfident what happens when you're overconfident. You get your butt handed to you so be careful we're overconfident bomb. I was reading in the of the Palm Beach post. In particular where they're talk a little -- in -- how. Joey Porter the dogs and they're going to do everything but basically the kitchen sink in though that in their tune. Up Porter said how he asked how he would get ready to face Matt Cassel for the week it treating like you prepare for a backup. Throw the kitchen sink at him we're going to come after the guy it'll be good to go out there and get our first victory. That of course is what you know we've been talking about in for some reason you miss Joey Porter saying that that is or. What he said. Porter. Lines up on the outside generally behind Vonnie Holliday. On that side of the defense. He's going to be a busy man I think on Sunday. Going to be Mike. He's going to be a busy man John write email in -- In in -- of -- here he says. I would like to personally thank Joey Porter were showing the world just how ignorant. He really news but our comments really bulletin board material now. Let's be real here last year when the big mound for the Steelers guaranteed win it was during the time when the Steelers were a threat. That was motivating and got them fired up even the -- were Brady got in his face after burning him and bomb touchdown pass reporter Miami. -- the only thing he has managed to do is bring it lack of respect to a team who hasn't played well lately. But has historically not talk -- about its opponent. I have nothing against team like the Dolphins -- for Mercury the Mal -- I can't imagine Parcells nor Pennington is very happy about you know actual job that point is traditionally Miami is that a team that does a lot of -- and and -- comes over doesn't happen but like I was mentioned with their skeleton you know earlier. Maybe he sort of feel like I'm going to do on the new inject some life into the situation that is all into and fading fast pretty good observation. Although I would have to say that I don't think he's that marked the at least initially. Com but it could make. You -- at least taken in consideration that he just trying to inject some life in an energy no matter how negative that might be perceived he's trying to give his team. A fighting chance if you'll -- into the -- going to come out fighting I open up my big mouth you better be ready on Sunday. No disrespect. Well. Of course there never -- did issued his respect even though it. And verbally happens. By the what John is pats twenty haven't -- three this the perfect game to start to give Matt Cassel a bit more pass and plays well from that they have a big day and for rated to get his mild. John a good one if you line my final all right I'm gonna say 2710. -- I'm gonna say Torre's -- and largely because I think that. You know the Patriots defense will probably -- and and maybe you know brakes lightly at one driver field position game will be -- And and the Dolphins managed to give it to because quite frankly Chad Pennington has always played it. Pretty well. Again the Patriots. I really don't see any reason for that to discontinue. Guys just play teams are way for inexplicable reason that I think you realize that as well as anybody. So I'm well to think that Chad Pennington will probably come out and it will personally as well especially with a walk in and around self supporting me this week that -- read Henry. He -- rookie back upper Michigan should actually be the quarterback there which is sort of a story within the story from the Dolphins perspective this week. Now the Patriots get up early. And they get ready to you know pound on the Dolphins don't be surprised he heading in the ball actually Pennington does not do. That an issue for them obviously to go through. -- in their for their fans and their coaches and their ownership to deal with I'll put that would not surprise me in the least the Patriots get a I do think that what you'll in the -- me either too big match ups to big matchup that you have to look at parts. Number one is calm. Basically the Patriots receivers in this particular reason Randy Moss against the other corners. For the Dolphins which would include Andre Goodman. In particular I would think and Will Allen. And in particular where Moss is concerned. Bomb Moss asked to be Randy Moss he has to own. The opposition secondary now last week he had the one deep ball thrown to him. In in a sort of all of an audible if you will waving his hand -- admittedly under the ball but still that's a ball that Randy Moss needs to catch and they give you all the play you would agree. And many of you all the -- probably do agree I'm ready still should have made that catch even though the defense by the ball on the parliament is back with the public somewhat of play on. Should've caught the ball we need -- Randy catch the ball. And when he does catch the ball than what are perceived Browns are now Malkin Tedy -- in his mind that will disappear and I think you're right about that particular job. Goodman. Has been decent. Cover corner. Based on what I've seen in what I've read he's been decent. But the problem is is that he along with everybody else like in the second -- Miami's have been banged up. But just aren't too many guys I think you realize that can stick. Was Randy -- so what happens. You know the Dolphins have to choose their points. They decide to do which is going to be my guest here okay guys this is really my guess. And it's just an educated guess or are educating depending on your perspective spoke. The gas here is that the Dolphins will be similarly. Like the Jets -- they're going to roll the safeties over. Crocker or bell would never play on the -- he'll probably Crocker music and then come. The going to end up trying to double down on Moss and they're going to ask -- and the Patriots running game to beat them."
[1:41:16]" Like the Jets did last week and they're going to try to put it in the strength of their deep -- let Vonnie Holliday and Jason Ferguson and those guys up front and then certainly Porter. And chanting crowd her and the linebackers. Try to fill in those gaps in there you know -- they're going to try to force the -- to play into their strength knowing that the secondary is a weakness."
[1:41:40]" I would all be surprised if you know the Patriots don't they may try to go to Moss but if they -- The want him a couple of times and you'll from a radio can be brought him it's because wise because Matt Cassel can't -- to -- how well now it because they are doing. What the deep and dictating them to do. You have to -- you react in this instance and you take what's open. Now the Dolphins -- Wes Welker to you know like Simon Dyson spine. I'd really like to see the Patriots. Throw a little bit more often get more involved with David Thomas. Com. You know in the absence of Benjamin Watson you know -- being you know banged up. I'd I'd like David Thomas get a couple more looks you know -- in his direction his way I think you'll see a steady dose of Maroney -- slash Mora -- Jordan. I do believe that that that you will. And I'm sure when the opportunity presents itself you'll see them go. But that's that's the big matchup and the course on the other end. Miami strength has to be has to be Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. I'll -- two ways about it. Maine I'd Ted again Greg Calgary -- they going to it are they are they going to frighten you are they going to concern in terms of wide receivers now. Anthony Fasano at tight ends. No not really. I think. Miami if they can establish the running game and yet you know four and five yards a black. And alternate Williams brown at least factly collectively and of where they can hold onto the football. Then I think you'll see of them try to unleash you know again perhaps. But the Patriots that the the big you know -- here on the other side is is is really. The Patriots front three defense league guys like -- Seymour against the offensive line. For Miami and and a rookie. And rookie like Jake Long. I mean I do think that you'd have to favor the Patriots in this particular instance as well. But you're gonna want to watch those battles I think that was the key battles. That will ultimately determine. Or help determine the outcome on the game. Watch how the Patriots defensive line can put pressure on Pennington. And whether or not but you dolphins' offensive line can create enough running room for guys like Williams and brown. They have to pound the ball they have to hold onto the ball and it pounded of people and then they have the score big in the red zone. If they can conceivably the Dolphins can make the game. If the Patriots turned the ball over. If they give it up short into the field they don't play field position well with you know the latest ask you did last week with a booming kicks. And the Dolphins can be in this game. But he's going to take a lot of -- for the Dolphins to be in the game. And within the Patriots neighbors on the the second exploit. Miami secondary that is banged up and inexperienced -- that usually a fairly lethal combination. I just my two cents worth in terms of the match up for this week. That's kind of how I'm I'm I'm looking at things here and them. I I'd. Do kind of think that 27 to ten and that entity will probably be. Should be. How the game turns out -- take a few points here and there in Miami when it will sure any team in the -- can win on any given and it would seem that. But it always predicated with the Patriots do or don't do I don't really think there's anything that Miami can do all things being equal Miami in this game the Patriots and the lose. And that's a big difference there's a big difference between the -- On that that's what I think would end up happening here also and I will look ahead here just just a bit because -- spent all of next week. Actually being in the bye weeks -- team calm. Calm will's been much of next week looking at other things and other stories around the league and in on the Patriots have a chance sort of -- Self evaluate. After three weeks the finally got that is going to come at a good time for the team. We did today at the beginning of the year. Nam in in light of the Tom Brady injury that that there were a lot of you. Who even expressed your feelings to this program and PFW as well that. You know you would be totally unhappy with two and one of the first three we should take to a one and then reevaluate and hopefully take that week off and come back with renewed intensity in vigor. And venom for the opponent and come back out. If this team goes to a one right now you're going to be disappointed why because the loss. Would be at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. I thought -- there was loss. That it would probably come of the hands of the Jets last week it did not so there's no reason with his team not to be three you know. And I think our expectations are going to continue to increase. For this team for the Patriots team all of our expectations are going to continue to increase as the season progresses. The next game that the Patriots will play after Miami this week after that and they have the week what will be on the road and Francisco. And depending upon what happens between Allen you know -- week from now we actually start kind of looking at San Francisco little bit hum. Your expectations are going to continue to -- the Patriot -- wouldn't."
[1:47:00]" Those expectations are going to increase every week whether there. Fair or unfair. That I I'm Tanya and and you know what is well you know -- that's exactly what will happen. The expectations of of the -- increasingly -- and the naysayers will and you can book book at right now. Take this to the bank the naysayers the Patriots will it will who have they played they're not playing anybody they should win."
[1:47:28]" Expect that the come out of Shannon Sharpe -- and expect that to come out of Tom Jackson's mouth expect that the command of anybody who you perceived to be at cedar. If you will work to be as important as a negative influence on the -- that that's what they're going to at all over the place and they should win these games. You know do we get -- good against the -- to -- well they will. As soon as they do. They absolutely well. But you can only play the games that are on your schedule."
[1:47:59]" You know this is what the NFL gave the Patriots and like we've been saying all along and we will continue to say. Effect is that schedule maker did the Patriots a huge favor we didn't know what at that time."
[1:48:11]" But the schedule maker did the Patriots --"
[1:48:12]" Huge. Favor and -- This is the schedule you have to just take care of business. All you have to do that's why you know I was really MI surprised to Vic Corey g.'s reaction yesterday and in some of the other things that are going on because. Com."
[1:48:30]" I just kind of got the feeling that. You know guys are contradicting themselves and in a little the papers to prove written down but probably going to prove it. The only proven by winning games in the winning games that you think that they should went well should that in reality that if you think they should went should -- put them up. The latter a notch -- two. What I'm more interested in what makes other teams right now better than the Patriots. Why are the teams better that's what I want to look -- think the Patriots -- that -- So what makes Dallas what makes Green Bay what makes. Pittsburgh what makes any other team that you come up with. What makes them better than the Patriots at that game. That's what. The people that I'll listen to those of people Celtic and their their their thoughts and their analogies in there Angela and Allen is nation nationalization. Into consideration I'll listen of that. Just you know and disappointed in the rest of the stuff. Just seems to be that you know and true colors are coming out of -- attention that I kind of stuff when he's that happened on television you watch in the pregame post game and all the highlight shows. This week. Just make note of it remember you know you're heard that kind of a year on the play -- furcal talk about it next week -- level long time apartment. Com PO practice participation injury report. -- this week is out on today in practice the Patriots did not have. Eric Alexander LaMont Jordan Laurence Maroney or Kelley Washington. Participate. -- Jordan what Maroney shoulder. Which we knew all Washington ankle limited participation in practice today by Vince Wilfork who apparently is and his back. Flare up on him you'll and that will bear watching over the next 2448 hours. Com everybody else was out there Dolphins did not report any injury today. That is the injury. Participation report although maybe that -- him released yet but they have not reported. On any interest pursuit of that latest from a Patriots practice today. Jackson you know by the way at seventeen Dolphins nick -- and Porter has been in Miami they are one and seventeen. Why is he even talking doing. Probably a pretty good point and why is even talk. And will find out. Who's talking after the game on Sunday afternoon. That's going to wrap it up or -- this edition of -- Patriots playbook for this week stick around though and I know many of you will be because the -- down with Brian -- Who just stepped into the studio is currently back a couple of emails already waiting for all -- people have to know all what you think about. Their choice this week."
[1:51:21]" Or bad move on their part they really. Need to know and I thought -- but all trying to do is maybe help them out if I hit 5050. Feel pretty good about my up now it's all about it's all -- throw ideas around acting this guy start do you think you know one. And I'm -- anyone else but for for people through life. Chime -- yeah I securities credit. Leagues due to the -- I have two in football team okay I I Durbin a couple times Wright had three. Boy is that the limit and that's a draft and that -- because folk easel you know how do you focus on three. It's been right it it -- To always there was a good. It was a good amount you know you can keep tabs on both fairly easily you can. I giving your mind remember. Remember who is on you team when you more than more than two -- try to limit it to --"
[1:52:09]" You play the why do I won't be -- it is not the only thing I do is I'm I'm in a honestly -- so you know I'd much going on in his early -- that is hard for me to track yet -- you never know what you can try and radio or TV in your your job and really the -- that they cannot read about it but here's here's the thing I am involved in a survival off while that there's so what I do basically each week is white -- team that I think is my best bet to win and if I win and move on to play next week. But if I lose I am eliminated on the nature of survival you're done right that's why miniature Bible league. With them with some friends and him to a -- on that it's in the life you know I -- one of those while -- who knows well and I've kind of come up with a pretty good rule of thumb on how to survive. Nick whoever playing against the same program and -- problem is okay at least for the you can -- right now if you can keep the Patriots maybe you know eight is one of those -- that he wants actually -- colonial oak only got now that that's that what is normally -- suicide over a source at least someone that you can only use one time and he's human survival is just. I didn't I pick a team it's going to be surprised how quickly -- knocked that we have. We have over almost 800 people involved in this particular league that I'm in last week we lost a hundred in the -- still hunt and Angela how does that happen and you know what I did. I hit the week over the St. Louis. Very much -- accurate it's very dull and predictable I mean who -- thought that you know Seattle going into the season their plane with they play the first two -- Buffalo and I. And for yourself the team that -- everybody -- so many people -- Seattle to beat San Francisco and obviously that you've got to that you get surprised that it made it and they really are but those those poor third -- those schools there are fine because if you're on the -- you -- a lot of times in the past that absolutely -- I think it gives -- great little kick to the Bryant and white people play if -- get -- I -- I personally don't have time for -- on it like -- thirteen -- And and and he's been all this time it was which is great. That's fine -- for him I'd help him get into the game that he watches football on Sunday much differently now right that he would have if you weren't involved like that which I think is not a bad -- You don't keep it keeps a lot of."
[1:54:31]" Interest in the game especially you know if if your team if your team is having your dad yearly that your fan of the Rams and your team not you know why did September can be a hopeless season. It's a good way to keep involved in the next inning and keep count Little League and certainly. You know the league itself. Certainly happy that physical -- off so much because. On it generates interest in value might have. You -- with this week there's an Atlanta against -- idiot that is one of the NFL games. -- really game that's going to jump out on people blitzes as much must watch but. You know if you Larry Johnson any team -- tap tonight -- the requirement right you to -- an -- good way to -- interest in the week. On the opera this season so it's fun and element to to the NFL season and and you know we're here at a we're here to help out with your panacea related questions -- are -- caller and probably."
[1:55:20]" Well at some point -- may be listening as it may be very difficult you know now he doesn't -- because he always want to take the show over for me. If I ever bring him into the into the final. He knows he thinks he knows more than I -- and we are probably. Way my right below. The -- Brian -- coming up next right here. On Patriots dot com radio."
