He's been fantastic on cut back he's really helped the return coverage game when it was the opposing team can do -- the battle of field position at the very least has been one. Other areas obviously there are some problems that and talk about them serves though there are some other issues get into but he's been one of the lone bright spot right now -- yeah no doubt about that night. I you know you can't get over the fact that his booming kicks against the Jets. Give them great field position situation as a major factor in. But he had in the past and and I think you know one of the glaring things we thought we thought last year in this have a bull's eye when they kick that field goal. On fourth and long. In ninety independently look at it you know not not quite sure what to make it -- bill but I think that you have tremendous confidence in him and I don't think that issue right now. No it is in the with the way he's doing that that confidence is not running short or even now."

[4:09]" Well I think it's kind of interesting to note that I mean last year called during the bye week. A lot of things going on the team was in the midst of -- winning streak and there was still a lot of buzz and now the bye week. As we've stated a few times already. It becomes -- at a good time for this team as a gives them a chance for equality does have a chance to sit and stew for a week based on what happened last Sunday. It will also allow potentially Agassi and other bumps and bruises. But maybe more to it to heal but maybe more so wounded psyche to heal up just a little bit so -- a good time but it's just it's been. It's been dead right you know in in more ways than just you know being quiet I think with -- football team right now and I just I find the whole thing just. Bizarre. Simple because of the buzz that this team has created for itself and because of itself over the last several years while."

[4:58]" Along that thing about the by now -- opponent in two weeks at a lot of so they could use extra time and again opted bead on him and sisco and plus like you at the kind of -- an open back in. I think you have to find ways of balance both he would -- both at some point in the beginning of this -- as the target of the -- going to be out. And maybe starting over the weekend against San Francisco preparation whereas it would normally be going to walk through of the game coming up. Instead they definitely got a couple of extra days at forty niners. Now I don't think the 49ers are great team and their team on the rise to some degree it -- one right now they're playing pretty good football teeth you'll Altman -- his job. Quarterback Frank Gore came up big game last weekend. This could be a tough game in their own backyard. -- I think the pats going to need that extra time to prepare and luckily with the two weeks off at. What."

I think the one thing that you know as I've you know done mine mine you know beautiful homework I guess around. Several that might favor web sites and in media outlets and such as he would people buzzing about this football team and I came across something. That you find an interest in my because I know you kind of compiled some of the stuff for Patriots dot com we do the you know -- splits every day. And -- came across this item from ESPN. That. Actually took up I think it was half a dozen different instances. Of the individual teams in the NFL and ask fans in their sports nation poll asked fans to vote. Panic or patients. With these six particular team did you see them by any chance know okay. And in dot com it was on espn.com I certainly didn't ethical value yeah I had -- search for a little bit and and I actually don't have it up right now does have a couple notes written out. But. The one thing that I wanted to do here -- today go to start out the program. He has offered to our listeners web radio pat Patriots dot com. Also the telephone number five -- five point 37482. Very simple question today in terms of our our question of the day. Do you preach show patience or do you push the panic button. With a Patriots concerned after three weeks and tell me why. You vote the way you do. Panic or patience with the nor Patriots now. You know you can obviously go on -- you know if you're able to find the serving his legacy it. It wasn't ready. And done yell. -- and figure out you know which was sports nations voting right now but I I have the numbers as of about half an hour about -- a bit but. I just be curious to know right off the top your head. What you think what's your initial gut reaction. You know considering everything that we've gone through through three weeks and it's been considerable. Would you is it time to push the panic button."

[7:54]" Or do you. Preach patience here where the Patriots are concerned. I've preached hate on because you know working with the quarterback with limited experience in and get the reps at at the time in this. System in actual NFL gains before we can fully judge capability in his -- We need a little bit more than two yards and more than half the game -- I need you will have more applicable Italian and we had. And -- and now there had been an enclosed which I was back from a player with no parents like him. He always happen -- chief game but he played well I thought he was being attacked in Jets. And me personally I thought he was terrible Sunday in Miami now. I can't push the panic button. In week three unless number one team is a laundry. Because at that point it's almost nearly statistically impossible to get to a Superbowl and win 1 Ontario north and when -- done it. In a few teams have done it go into the giant that lesser known to. But now what team in auto three and when the Superbowl that and -- that weighs on your soul is a zero victory. Number two if you have been devastating injury at that point that changed the course of the season but we got that a week one. Now we have a new quarterback in there because Tom Brady. That has changed things but again that was -- one -- two weeks later it's now week for coming up at the bye week you have to. Expect impatient -- the biggest concern I would have is that -- getting pushed around like it did on Sunday. That concern because we saw that the pre season. We've pretty much blamed it on Vanilla coverages and I'll play calling while it wasn't an on Sunday it was bad. Flat out bad and that has changed if that doesn't change in -- week three -- in agony at that and it."

[9:45]" Sense to me -- like you know you know you could at least make case for pushing the panic button now with -- with -- at least the -- is concerned I. I don't tend to agree in terms of the them they'll preaching patience. Matt Cassel concern although yesterday here on the program. I you know I came up with a couple things that I thought that would inject some life into the team a little I thought that maybe this team was ready to have a little. Energy level emotional little just a little something something if you will. Injected into it that a couple ways you can do it number one cut somebody. That. Plain and -- just cut somebody take somebody and that's established that hasn't been getting the job done. In the clubhouse -- veteran presence in particular and say that's it you're done thank you very much or. I've been an advocate of for giving Jeff Garcia -- especially you can get him for nothing and and I thought that it would be just enough to shake things up. And just to get guys thinking differently or maybe looking over the shoulders because you just want to make -- the complacency doesn't it and it is frankly. Such a loss for words for Sunday's. Game and I'm running short and really call again. Events let's say and it's at a loss for words that -- the navy what was hurting the Citadel it was complacent because of Joey Porter opener in his -- Can't get the Patriots emotions running a little bit what."

[11:02]" Can't. Well I mean that's that's only goes so far John I mean at the end of the day if Miami's they're running a spread offense that you keep it can't cover over the middle. I don't care what to a report -- part of you are now I don't know quite good to flat out -- somebody just make a point. I would bring people -- if I think they're going to help the team win -- somebody needs to be put I don't think Matt -- really needs to be pushed. By having Jeff Garcia committed to ticket he naps and try out outdated they complacent as part I would go to player if he's dog and it. If somebody is not give me a 100% that I may bring in a couple of guys put -- say hey you know what you can be your play tomorrow. We could sign this guy you could be out here -- on the unemployment line again but that's his -- he's out there trying hard is no doubt about that he's trying to make the plays. He does not have the period. And maybe -- have the talent has time Brady doesn't -- all established that in time breed the two time equivalent BP to say that somebody's not counted him resided in."

[11:57]" No no no absolutely not but here's what I thought about -- your -- he hasn't done poorly. It would seem to me that and again just based on -- you know my observations of him in the first couple weeks here. It seems to me that he's checking off in the east on the safety room. And I don't -- there if that's by design. If the coaches are insisting that he -- a little bit more conservative. Or if match just afraid to pull the trigger on shall we say a deeper route I think that's something. That have to happen for the team he's got to. Play a little bit more that swashbuckling. Let's you know. In our ears back and go type of attitude because this team all -- is predicated on that kind of loss of."

[12:38]" Well I have a couple is looking at that in part of the promise teams trying to take -- months out of the game now. And the reason they're going to do it Mac as well because the greater chance that -- maybe trying to force something and a double coverage than there would be time great but as he he threw a couple of weeks Matt Cassel. Is willing to take the check check down or Seaver and or somebody else who is open. On the flip side that I -- much protection up front Cassel is pressure all day on Sunday -- not have to kinda drop back pass. There's no way you can run a 2530 yards and if you don't have more than three seconds to throw the ball. That part of prompt do. It is going to happen with the deep and gives -- a time though I -- and again always it's a combination of things out much like bill. But I think they were in place and that came on I knew they weren't even trying to go deep I agree with you'll under percent on that. Every now they -- tickets. You have to write something bring in an extra tight in the blocked -- and protection up front but do somethin' to -- it out. And I thought last week was the perfect opportunity against -- into the league ranked dead last in the past."

Just could not find a way to take advantage of that and I'm still trying to figure how the -- that happened I you know -- by the way you -- a good point and that I had a couple of email -- suggestion on the show yesterday. That how come it seems like the offensive line is getting off here when. Nobody's ever said they should get often Franklin and the the offensive line misses some of the athletic schism. And maybe the toughness of Stephen Neal."

[14:12]" I agree to help particularly on screenplays that you really need athletic conference alignment degree screen. And had guys can get up the field -- a lot but at the end of the day comes got to protect the quarterback and if you're going to take chances deep you need more than two with three seconds throw now. I don't know the lines getting off too easily here because there are a lot of people who are still pretty ticked off over the Superbowl. And how the line played and that day that's an offensive line John and three players of the Provo. Didn't and evidently like all know I am -- now like -- like in the biggest game of the season and had bet that does not that well a lot of people and probably does at well at them as unity."

[14:48]" Well again I guess it it it it it Bears watching but I like you said I I think that they're still struggling to find some continuity. I think we all know that the opens one is the one part of this football team when you know this team. On any team released by the plays football at that needs to have a little chemistry little continuity amongst in him when you don't have that. It becomes more more difficult to to be effective offensively."

[15:14]" Is not just. Billy Yates had better play you know -- think Mankins has played particularly well not what -- him get over -- currently he had his in the tackles have been those though at this point season as a combined team after. You really have to deal -- going to go forward now NCAA has been there for a couple weeks I think he's an okay. There there have been some plays on screens or he's -- a real nice job adults -- praised him for that but. Over the course of maybe another 45 weeks I think when you overexposed certain players you get her. There -- players who fit roles perfectly and each Redick and then beyond that it only comes back to bite you -- Jabar Gaffney is another one where he's a good. Number of or is he very may be out there -- big plays a game but not as a number three. Maybe taken a third of the passes and academic and or anybody but I think when -- over those players it does Richmond and eventually at some point yeah."

[16:06]" That's true you know I figured it probably could and so you know the offensive line has got to be an issue. I think it's. You know. Tight -- we haven't had a -- Benjamin Watson at least until this last week and magazine and even some -- I was completely healthy there and David Thomas missed all of last year. And so when you think about it and you try to you know almost go man to man on this particular era item. Hard on this agenda of what's wrong -- this football team you can kind of see where that you know. Lacking consistency if not outstanding performance where this team could be you know -- and maybe some reasons behind this team is failing to hit on all cylinders. Hey we ask them power rankings by the way -- I don't usually on the power rankings yeah only only only because I think that -- only does that like opinion and that's."

[16:52]" Well we gotta clean up my friend differences in his Vickers his weekly ranking NFL dot com right number one -- doubt yeah number two Padilla to Murton number three Philadelphia who won. And he -- number of war and ask if we agree with -- the Buffalo -- yeah I saw that that was on them. Which which -- always -- is -- and -- originally going to build -- come right yeah absolutely you know pitcher by the way not in the top twelve no and they -- the top twelve last week and I got together and now the emblem. Right he kept him in the middle the pack this week which frankly was a little bit of a surprise to me yeah that's old now if you compliment -- packets line."

[17:30]" Yeah yeah I would think so I thought they were toppled team a week ago I don't know they are now. Based on just a three week snapshot I would certainly you know tend to agree with that. You know. I'm not seeing it or Buffalo's concern I mean I realize that the bills. -- three -- I realized the bills have got in improved it. Defensive numbers overall. I don't think they've allowed yet 300 yards total offense now game. To any of their opponents yet so you know I think it's all it'll -- in the right direction that there at least effective enough. On offense but are are they the fourth best team in the NFL well. I based on what."

[18:09]" Really literally five undefeated teams. It Dallas New York Buffalo ten in Denver now I think dinners the most fraudulent ball -- going oh and yeah no degree heat and terrible data in. That beneficiaries of two very fortuitous call. So they could very easily be one into until they stop somebody that's not alas that's -- to Patriots right there. But it doesn't to -- all -- at the Reno. On points by people all the could not stop anybody and it came back to -- and finished 97. Now. I think that reserves front and he has doing it with all the fans. How much longer -- Kerry Collins. -- and now Kerry Collins is a serviceable backup I don't know if that -- going to be good enough. Down the stretch then. You know. Yes I probably put Buffalo the top four now. Trent Edwards and -- particularly down the stretch in game where in all of it on PFW in progress yesterday. He's so little bit of that mock you know in the fourth quarter right -- did you definitely against Oakland yeah that is in fourth quarter point to win that game. I mean that that you really want to that's -- we need to hear from Mecca. If you get to a team like back -- neck and rally back from ten point fourth quarter deficit for example could he do that always seeing -- now Trent Edwards. And I always agree with Billy being a much better team than their record shows it to one. I -- eight ages. They overwhelmed there. 88 a steroid I would -- has -- and a -- doesn't -- differences that yeah the only -- offensive effort that it happens against thousand doubt excellent point. No I don't think so maybe you could take a hot team and I used -- because the third week but Washington has won two -- 21 now. Do you camel points and good ball. -- you watched in Mosul the do. He can be based on trends if you see a team moving in the right direction you meet in the put them higher even if the team has the record but it may be losing a couple of games. He attended the Tenet and the B I don't know like Green Bay -- and beat by now in Pittsburgh is getting beat up by -- They drop and a victory Green Bay went from -- Kevin Pittsburgh who sit."

[20:54]" He you know again I try not to get too caught up in. How much a team moves up or down week to week -- Inca will realize it's you know it's pure conjecture here but at the same time though it's interesting to see trends. And it's interesting to see what others who were well thought of in this particular business think of you and other teams. And I kind of tend to feel like -- least early in the season. Teamed -- the top get a little bit over rated. Not an all cases because right now on the Dallas Cowboys probably the best overall team in the NFL but Dallas still got some work to do defense. There's not a complete team in the league at all right now. Everybody still has some work to do some obviously more so than others but. I I just. You know why would you why wouldn't you why would you put Buffalo in in a position where they would be in the top 45 because there's only five undefeated teams overall they haven't been beaten yet in -- pitches to three weeks snapshot we're talking about and they probably deserved to be either but to me. You know from what I've seen. The clips that I've seen the bills I actually tried to watch a little bit of their stuff on in a film that would this week to so. I get a better sense of maybe what the Patriots were actually going to go up against this year. -- I'm still. I see a team that seems a little tighter a little bit more disciplined. And I see a team that may be knows. What they need to do and what is expected of them by Dick Jauron but. I don't see a whole lot of flash and I certainly don't see. Two media personnel groupings that are vastly given what we -- a year ago."

[22:24]" Right and I think when you go back to power rankings you want to start with the undefeated team. And then you take the next best and -- anybody can crack that group ammonium defeated if there's somebody who is better than ever -- Sudden death and that night doing that that's like Philly is -- to people outside Philly is so -- There's lot people think there is a very good football team and yeah I'm not physically on that bandwagon but."

[22:46]" No but it it's hard to argue it is based on what we've seen them on the field and and I think the perception is I think a lot of times when you have a quarterback. Who sort of surpasses. The game if you will and Donovan McNabb is kind of return to form just a little I think that as a -- to all inflate your overall value. Yeah -- agree that. It's certainly our potential more so yeah performance by via I would agree that. Mike -- with a here inside the play book today as we roll along on Wednesday don't forget. Especially in the fact the Brandon Meriweather went down we surmised yesterday that maybe a guy like John Lynch could be on his -- the Patriots did not go that route."

[35:15]" Well matter whether the fine he's been out there today is another practice mine I don't think there's really any long term lingering effects there. But -- and breathe a sigh of relief in the secondary. Are eager right now Kelly Washington's -- And he's a big time performer on special teams. Not much an offense that he's got involved and a couple of plays. I think price the guy that come -- and play on offense -- by talking to him today in some of the guys locker room and -- and doesn't late he's much of a special humor anymore. Now and our brittle to try to do you guys that are on those screens. And and that that the Dolphins and a great job of not being passed on Sunday it was like we saw with the Jets who I know -- four. One because they're getting blocked out of plays to because they couldn't tackle. In this case Dolphins weren't getting blocked out of place they were right there on the ball that -- the ball incredibly well on the -- on Sunday and he made those plays I can't think of maybe. More than one or two greens that really worked on Sunday. Nothing like I mean the first play from scrimmage in the jet game Kevin -- ended up with the -- plus yard gain screen. We Italy and they know we did it it seems to figure with the trying to do offensively. Now I have a problem now last year that there was some degree -- of competitiveness of because they can throw the ball is going to point. But when you do that as often as they do teams start preparing for that in nineteen hit him with the running game. Prom is now accused of preparing for the run. While I was not aware that much Marino yup because they like teams that some pretty horrific second half collapse over the years we've seen a couple of the last few years but that. To me you know that that that's you know that's an eye opener again in light of the fact that the bills are one of those teams. And that the bills are so highly thought of right now on that maybe we're still coming to grips with the fact it may be Buffalo is actually improved. Over what we -- you're going it's hard for us to really."

The could be could be at -- could be there again. In fact they were one of sixteens. That won their first three games get this now this is what fun is a tremendous statistical anomaly for those that really get into the numbers here. All the Broncos were one of six teams that won their first three games in 2002. All six of those teams. Missed the playoffs -- 281. Of them via. That's right in 2002 this is this is really I thought isn't -- redeem maybe say why -- you know like added I guess I didn't really realize that all these teams started three you know. In 2002 Carolina. Denver Miami New England New Orleans. And San Diego all of sixteen started three and out. The best records were Denver Miami new England -- New Orleans all finished nine and seven."

I don't disagree that now taken over that we are seeing it right it was hot teams and now he believes firmly and and Philly and rightly be very good example one of those games from this past Sunday. The -- Philadelphia beat up on Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh was a team that we everybody thought was probably you know the best in the AFC absolutely oh and you could -- Isn't in the and it in the AL east -- were canines and team when it went that would get from a pot."

[47:41]" Well again I will go back to two weeks ago when we first started talking about. What could the Patriots do without Tom Brady and I said I still think that ten and six is eminently possible and I think ten and six is imminently doable to win the division. And I think if the Patriots if you would give the Patriots ten and six right now would you take it if you could tell me. That they would be division champ -- six absolutely you have to until now it."

Because I think there are concerns and Sunday and I think the biggest thing in not being one of the people pushing the panic and but the thing is you can't look at the schedule this oppose it easy schedule anymore and -- chalking -- wins here because if Miami can come here and do what they did. Who they can't go to France. Or a go to Seattle in the sure there are no more there really are no more gimme if they had to. Be in the hands off Miami on Sunday and it's okay you know what they will be at the teams are supposed to -- now enough this year."

They needed -- I've also seen. Other team's game plan specific -- specifically for. How do we improve ourselves to the point where we can beat. Competitive with new England and this is goes beyond just the teams with in the east division. I mean Denver is a great example here. I mean who have written I read about it the last several weeks. On in the year in the Denver newspapers -- offensively speaking Denver. -- basically stolen pages out of the Patriots playbook yeah term loosely that in steal nine I don't want to raise borrowed -- know what they've done -- that take in the same ideology behind with the Patriots have done office and applied and look at what they're doing. With a guy who they're extremely excited about in his very Tom Brady like at this stage of his career in Jay Cutler. NFL for a copycat league. Exactly something more everything else going to do it that's exactly right teens. Are now after three or four years of watching the Patriots. Basically dominate them within the AFC teams are finally catch and on. And they're there they're their emulating the Patriots. They're trying to figure all right if they can do this how can we pull that ball what they're doing or something like that. -- great example and look at the offensive numbers but the Broncos -- real and up. Other teams are catching up so this means the Patriots that they can step back other teams have taken a step up what do you have. You have basically anybody can win you've got parity yes indeed that. After basically getting beat the cup for the Patriots over the last several years. That is what we currently have. Boiling over in the AFC whereas in the NFC they're going to the whole cast system and right now Cowboys at the -- but he."

[53:05]" In the Dolphins have caught everybody by surprise in -- May -- maybe you know what they they certainly got the Patriots by surprise on Sunday but I read a couple of good things about the Dolphins this week in the aftermath where this is sort of been building. You know the Dolphins probably we're not as bad as their opening two losses would indicate certainly that is that is. Getting pounded and Arizona thirty when it's and I think that lulled everybody into us into a false sense of security that all yes same -- animals didn't ask. -- maybe Miami's will be close to being better with you know young offensive line Chad Pennington who still got you know some pop you know -- their quarterback. Ronnie Brown is looks to be fully recovered by in my estimation from the injury Ricky Williams is three motivated you've got you know unproven but young and maybe improving wide receivers and tight ends. You know -- defensively Joey Porter -- from the weak side perhaps now. You know maybe he's kind of been kick started rejuvenated his career there's a lot of different things going for them right now and in my before we kind of -- of the opening our year I wanted to get your thoughts on some of the articles that also come on the last -- so. About Brett Favre in the Jets. And how -- summer beginning to believe this is leading to a failed. Experiment with him. It's quarterback in New York can you make anything out of it yet and and what do you think about the particular Rose story there."

Throughout the course of this. Football season. You know there really is news being made it's not necessarily a all Patriots news being made even with the bye week with a team battles down a bit and in cuts it back a notch or two during the bye week in an effort to. Take advantage of not having to play games week in this Hampshire mean if you are aware of that is generally what happens when you have we call. And then after your week off in this particular instance because this is the first scheduled week upcoming four -- weeks. In the NFL. Turns on the court in Houston Texans and -- him in Cincinnati Bengals had a bye week couple weeks ago -- over night but this was the first scheduled. Bye week. Of the season in the NFL this year the Patriots -- a very first one in the last several years they've had a bye week toward the middle of the season right around week. I anywhere from weeks seven to ten that didn't quite work out this -- when you look at it from an entire."

[1:04:33]" Season perspective -- when you look at it basically from you know when the pre season in training camp start they'd been going roughly. 910 weeks now and after this week is over there's still -- thirteen weeks of regular season play become what that you can see that. It's actually closer to the technical middle part of the years. Then you might be led to believe. Just a matter conjecture here and I guess. Matter for instance but the fact is is that. And the Patriots this is what the schedule calls for. And Randy Moss mentioned a little bit after the game against Miami on Sunday that you know. Dropping him he beat up their play and again because. It just in his nature to want to try to correct things quickly and you don't -- I kind of that way too I understand how he feels. Because when you throw a stinker like that. And when I know that I make a big mistake. And obviously we all do from time to times broadcasters and in radio host and things like that happens. You want to get you want you want to get back on the air you want to get right back at it in in court and correct the problem or at least move lies that you put the mistake in the past. I understand how athletes -- like that I I I do I get that. I think the overwhelming majority of guys would rather just get right back up there on the field. And black somebody of some of the -- of the game correct things even though maybe. Giants may -- is probably in the best interest to sort of write that down and not step back just a little bit here and let's consider where we've come from where we may be going from here on out with -- if we can try to fix the correct double mistakes and not you know. Make the same types of mistakes over and this is what you can do with a week off. It's about what this team we don't a broken down the film live look at the videotape they've. -- have gone through and -- a lot of stuff I'm sure the guys and had some chances to get on themselves and get on each other about. Figure it was an -- the 49ers are indeed as improved as everybody thinks that they may be some that are off to a 21 starts will be interesting to see -- battle unfolds. A lot of the opening are today talking about what we think is real and what is perceived and whether or not we should be panicky or not. Over some perceived areas of need improvement within the Patriot football team. But if you're ready to push the panic button great tell me why. If you're not ready to push the panic button that's fine too. But tell me why. There's a fine line I think in this particular instance. I gotta admit. My initial reaction and if you -- the program over the last week and a half persona advocated for you know the Patriots are what make a bold move. In particular you know -- maybe sign -- Jeff Garcia if you will kind of -- you know kick start some things. That could be perceived as a panic button measure. But there's a little part of me that thinks you know one no -- don't think so because when I listen to the analysts. -- on ESP and then in in in fox and some of the of the places that was into tomorrow. In one overriding factor keeps coming up and I believe I mentioned this in yesterday's program here but. The one overriding thing that keeps coming up in age with major concern of their old they can't move they can't get up and down. You know they're not mobile and I'd just like -- I'm Mike. These guys even stopped to watch this -- thing. I'll grant you they look pretty ancient on Sunday. But I have to think and I am of the opinion here that that was more of an aberration on Sunday than anything else. I just think it was a confluence of the right things the right time Miami Kahne who had nothing to lose. They threw the kitchen sink at Patriots in the Patriots fell for it. I don't with the Patriots -- his bat on the fence. Is they played on Sunday. So in that regard I'm not ready to push -- I think we still need to give. You know. Jerod Mayo and some of the other younger players who were beginning to seem more playing time of the -- an opportunity to do just that. Richard Seymour is not ancient Vince Wilfork is not ancient Ty Warren is not ancient. -- they're not old. In the -- making -- is older. But they've also gotten younger by comparison over a year ago. The secondary is another matter entirely. The secondary is still I think ultimately going to be a trouble spot for this for this team. And that's what we talked about before the season started that would be the one Achilles heel that this team might him. But that it would be less of an Achilles -- if the front three. And I guess you have to Ed really you know the two outside linebackers who you know pass -- well Vrabel and Thomas. Okay include those in the front 55 of the point seven anyway. You can include those guys if they can put an effective pass rush on the opposition is going to make that secondary heal up by a heck of a lot faster that's how the game is played. So I'm not ready to push the panic button. I'm ready to preach patience. With a deep -- concern. And yet here I am pushing the panic button advocating it. But that to change quarterback with the office is concerned doesn't make much sense does it until trying to figure okay why why -- think like that well. Okay -- I've just -- I've just not talked it through if you. And that's kind of where I am I'm a little bit I stand on a little different sides of the line of demarcation if you -- on both. Issues. Little differently feel little differently about the deepens than I do about the offense. You share those sentiments. Or do you not cheer -- Plenty of time for you to respond web radio act. That the considered benching Anderson for Brady Quinn. But right now he says he's going to stick with -- Anderson and he's not really getting into the if she wins where is how long or anything else like that that was -- quote today. So Derek Anderson though he certainly been part of the reason that Cleveland struggled to the 13 start Derek Anderson still keep his job. Now whether or not that directly leads to Romeo Crennel moving his job is another matter entirely. And if he gets fired from Cleveland does come back here probably not. At least not right away personable you'd have to have Julien after him an opening your own staff. And I don't know if you've been there done that you want to repeat that I mean if you're looking for work and he needed job. And there's an opening there will -- sure of the -- take a look at it but. Here's the thing in the Patriots decide this year the Dean Pees ultimately. Is not. Their guy. -- that they need to make a change in this particular instance let's say things continue -- south from here for the defects. Well that you might want to make a change coach except the that you got a guy like dom -- already on staff who's been an NFL coach -- because you already had a -- step. Wouldn't you -- him the first like you know. Not here. In May -- he's out there also look at her -- job which I would assume Romeo Cornell would be as well. He only comes in if I think both of those guys are no longer with the Patriots. They might ask him to come back they might. But again been there done that you'd just you'd never know. Interesting question but. Again I find -- of the scenarios it would take a lot of different things have happened with that happening here. -- from the Bronx do you think you're going to be any additions in subtraction either before or after the bye week Maroney to me is proving not to be durable. I can honestly not see how the guy from Dallas was his back up. You think the guys think they should be bringing in somebody election Alexander into the full well personable. Marion Barber was not Laurence Maroney back of the Minnesota. Barber was actually a year or two ahead of morally and they played together in -- back field. In the backfield one year at Minnesota and then Maroney. Played his last belliard of the it was a Minnesota after barber had left. I don't know if you can really say he was the back I don't think it was like that. Com. When I'm wondering. Is Malcolm Minnesota -- and still does. He -- a couple of guys like ethnic opened the bag -- me pretty good fumble for a while the Maloney was there but. Man how did they -- that. Anyway. Maroney not -- I've said that all along about the guy if you listen this program and all you know that I feel that way. But Laurence Maroney and I'm beginning to say now that the Patriots made a big mistake in getting him. He's not going to be the every down. You -- kind of backed the Patriots thought that they might be drafting when they brought him in you know 23 years ago not it's not working out. And part of it is because they can't keep him on the field he's not durable. It that you keep him on the field we get a better idea whether or not he could -- kind of back I don't see it did you should only what you see it. So should the bring -- like Shaun Alexander. I don't know that Shaun Alexander is the answer because of his previous injury problems. Boy you know what if you can get you know I still think they feel like they have enough. On the roster right now between. Anymore us in LaMont Jordan. And certainly. Kevin Faulk. Even without Laurence Maroney now. It another one of those guys goes down you might see them make a move something simple you might. I could certainly see that. Because -- that they they just let go Kyle Michael yesterday so your depth -- just a little bit. Less. In the last 24 hours because they released Kyle ankle. So if somebody does -- don't an injury you might see that. It's conceivable. I just don't know that it's entirely probable. On speaking of the depth and speaking of running backs what's going to the Patriots locker room from earlier today. Like signing a proven quarterback and now we're facing the reality of losing games. I have been many times that how Matt -- was not starting quarterback this team but on the quarterback that's I had mentioned. Again and I mentioned it today eventually yesterday came -- I think the Patriots should do something bold. If not brash on offense and maybe go out and get a guy like Jeff Garcia. That maybe now's the time to actually considered doings on the like that they give themselves a little to jump start so along the lines of today's question of the day here in the program. Are you panic king or do you preach patience panic patients. That's what I'm asking you guys to answer to meet today. And along those lines and kind of I guess I'd have to say panic on all his patience on these events. If you couldn't. Do both. And why wouldn't you. Because you still have to feel like even though you're getting these younger guys in there that you had the nucleus. And we've said this all you have the nucleus here in this team. Even still on the contrary now to where you can still be competitive. That -- two with three years at the very minimum within the league and if you bring back helping Tom Brady next year. No reason we can't read it right be right back in the fold in competition inning connect in contention. I'm from getting back again. So yeah I think they would be experiment with a playbook but I think more so than me experiment and play book and indeed be experimental with. Personnel. Let's. Gotta read this from the shock. And I like what you're saying what would what I would do about his abilities I would bring in Garcia and cut Cassell. There -- a lot of things that Garcia could bring to the Patriots it would humble them so that all they all know. That no one's job is guaranteed and they would want to fight harder for their jobs. I think part of the problem is now they know they can say oh we're doing bad things would have great. Well I don't think. I don't think I'd go that far shot what I would do is -- bringing Garcia but I would not cut Matt Cassel. You'd you know I realize that neither one of these guys is going to be around next year this is simply wanted to Dillon for both guys. Palm but I don't think I would cut -- Unless he asked for his release because if Jeff Garcia doesn't do what you selective -- on the show may -- that's that may be at that time of the season then it's kind of like okay well we're. Three and seven or whatever and maybe assembly Kevin O'Connell it's an experience with Seattle -- trial by fire experience by fire like it is necessarily a good thing. For rookie quarterback. I -- advocate bringing rookie quarterbacks along slowly in this league. I mean after all media had good career at San Diego State did a great careers San Diego State. Subject to conjecture. He also says here's what Garcia could bring to the line they Cassell does not experience. Does not -- experience ability watch downfield while moving in change of playing on the spot. From watching -- on Sunday it was not impressed with his passing game he did great running but the problem is he would have -- open it didn't see it so we took off -- Part of what why I spoke about in the opening -- I think he's relying too much on the checked off. With a check down move as opposed to going whose primary. Target. And he says Brady also always saw someone Hollywood dropping back the next thing is I think mark would pick up speed again. And Roger you saw the first two weeks Moss was not that fast on his feet. And I think knowing that he can get the ball from an experienced quarterback would make him pick up in his step again. Thanks thing I would do is to put some fear in the offensive line with you going to sign one or not his start talking to some other opens -- lineman in teams about their -- he -- some of them think their job is not secure. Probably do that. Every day that he sensed this follow up to that -- by saying I think. The Daunte Culpepper may be better off than Jeff Garcia. And in the event that my email before but I think what his previous stats and a sub par team like Oakland last year they may be pretty decent with a lineup like Randy Moss Willis walker and it wants. As for the people who say Bruschi being too old not strong fast and uphold these fans which is having a bad game last week they will step up. There was C Bruschi -- far down and get up and hit the running back he was fast and strong and a bad day but it was having a bad game like half of the Patriots team this. -- we think this in two separate issues in the one. Daunte Culpepper frankly Jacque is not the answer Dante has no movement left his knees have and they have left him. He couldn't move into the pocket can move up the pocket he can move laterally. Running the ball as this Patriots offensive line is unfortunately apparently forcing their quarterbacks to do. That would be a death -- Down to Culpepper is not the answer his career has come and gone and -- a lot of punishment. He would not be the guy you that there's somebody at least was still some mobility in that regard Garcia at least still has some mobility. More so -- optical no doubt arm would Randy Moss like to see improbably. But I don't think you're going to sacrament is everything to make Randy Moss happy here. As far as Bruschi being too old I agree with -- there I think that was an aberration. You're actually right. Taken for a down and getting up and hitting the running back a couple of weeks ago pretty good move show that there was -- whole life some life left in the old guy so to speak. Personally that he. So you know I just think it was a horrible rotten stink in week. And I prefer to preach patience. But there are a couple of other teams that are making moves quarterback and we mentioned this yesterday. For the first time but Marc Bulger is now. As the St. Louis Rams starting quarterback and of course the Rams for future Patriots opponent in fact they'll be up next you know. In October. For the home game two home games for anyway. So the Rams -- future opponent and we don't know basically who will be quarterback then for the Rams. Com but Bulger is going to go to the bench and 38 year old backup Trent Green at. Is going to start. -- Bolger is the Rams highest paid player. But head coach Scott Linehan who is certainly as much on the hot seat as any coach. In the NFL right now this team win three this year. And Linehan. Is eleven and 24 in his third season as head coach Ramsey doesn't turn anything around. So. And even last week I remember -- in this. -- a -- last wishful much of Rosenblum who's the new owner and Albert. And -- it's going to have to be made or that changes are certainly going to become even though it was his mother's dying wage Georgia Rosenblum former programs. That letting him be giving -- given this pool here in order to right the ship in St. Louis. Well apparently son chip. Is not ready to be that patient and is not ready to adhere.
