[0:00]" Let's go -- no doubt about it out of all. It's Patriots playbook government property that is all the right things that seven -- Patriots playbook. Breaking down less on these game yeah go ahead and -- it -- because of the fact they're going to vastly over the top neck and he didn't want to go bought. 53 completed they've won fair and the rest of the 2008 NFL he goes back combat on that they want them. From here and some of the ones that -- between even and you want to break even if you want right now."
[0:33]" Yeah you know Mueller --"
[0:37]" John Rollins go let's go."
[0:41]" Patriots playbook for Wednesday at right here on Patriots dot com radio John -- with him and certainly welcome to book. Bring back into the fold my friend from PFW once again Mike what's happening did anything good not too much today John had a little bit of a quiet locker room couple players not there no movement -- today you'll be tomorrow. Nobody -- and easily without our go to guys that. So nothing else talk about it that are on fourth -- it's nice guy animals you can discuss. It's when you know what -- that's actually pretty good enemies of you because. Yeah I -- lost in all of the you know the controversy if you will the story surrounding Brady and everything else about this football teams -- is now ski. -- is. I think put himself right at the top of the list perhaps in the entire NFL amongst kickers."
[1:30]" Yeah -- consistent player on the team the three weeks he's kicked all illegal. He's been fantastic on cut back he's really helped the return coverage game when it was the opposing team can do -- the battle of field position at the very least has been one. Other areas obviously there are some problems that and talk about them serves though there are some other issues get into but he's been one of the lone bright spot right now -- yeah no doubt about that night. I you know you can't get over the fact that his booming kicks against the Jets. Give them great field position situation as a major factor in. In winning a cup audio is over that would have been one gains by kicker in the long long time yeah. Yeah I touchback. It all for -- field goal mean he dominated that game and that -- kind of the perfect blueprint when you think about it. To keep the -- and getting any returns they started every drive from their own twenty yard line pretty much. And it's hard out here you have Brett Favre back there. It's hard to go eighty yards every time. What do you think about them. You know his I guess so farmer. Not being able to step in and KK -- we -- considering it's a real pressure -- coming busy busy. -- he's still I mean are you of the opinion that that he could do that if given the year you give an effort to think big kick in a playoff game in San Diego years ago I mean I remember him -- and they won. And I think when you think about it the all our -- on the green. Physical back that jet skiing on the winning team buys certain amount point now granted I felt they dominated game but the final point differential was not. Reflective on the scoreboard -- it all or the local team -- won the first quarter to come back and I think they all are big now. For him personally he has not been in position Murray had to make a big field goal in a playoff game like in Adam Vinatieri about the Indy okay -- I think it was 5. In San Diego in the shop the charges was a pretty hectic for a young player at the time you thought it was over five now another thirty years and years and -- here. Though had to deal and I'm confused how my year's girl puzzle okay completely idiotic or you don't you don't they'll run together yet -- a -- do a point two point nine like him at. But he had in the past and and I think you know one of the glaring things we thought we thought last year in this have a bull's eye when they kick that field goal. On fourth and long. And we don't know talking about when he went for and it they chucked in into the end zone and it didn't work -- people thought and maybe in conference he. In ninety independently look at it you know not not quite sure what to make it -- bill but I think that you have tremendous confidence in him and I don't think that issue right now. No it is in the with the way he's doing that that confidence is not running short or even now."
[4:09]" Well I think it's kind of interesting to note that I mean last year called during the bye week. A lot of things going on the team was in the midst of -- winning streak and there was still a lot of buzz and now the bye week. As we've stated a few times already. It becomes -- at a good time for this team as a gives them a chance for equality does have a chance to sit and stew for a week based on what happened last Sunday. It will also allow potentially Agassi and other bumps and bruises. But maybe more to it to heal but maybe more so wounded psyche to heal up just a little bit so -- a good time but it's just it's been. It's been dead right you know in in more ways than just you know being quiet I think with -- football team right now and I just I find the whole thing just. Bizarre. Simple because of the buzz that this team has created for itself and because of itself over the last several years while."
[4:58]" Along that thing about the by now -- opponent in two weeks at a lot of so they could use extra time and again opted bead on him and sisco and plus like you at the kind of -- an open back in. I think you have to find ways of balance both he would -- both at some point in the beginning of this -- as the target of the -- going to be out. And maybe starting over the weekend against San Francisco preparation whereas it would normally be going to walk through of the game coming up. Instead they definitely got a couple of extra days at forty niners. Now I don't think the 49ers are great team and their team on the rise to some degree it -- one right now they're playing pretty good football teeth you'll Altman -- his job. Quarterback Frank Gore came up big game last weekend. This could be a tough game in their own backyard. -- I think the pats going to need that extra time to prepare and luckily with the two weeks off at. What."
[5:50]" There's so many different things that we're going to get into today not least which would be you know certainly things with Patriots but. I think the one thing that you know as I've you know done mine mine you know beautiful homework I guess around. Several that might favor web sites and in media outlets and such as he would people buzzing about this football team and I came across something. That you find an interest in my because I know you kind of compiled some of the stuff for Patriots dot com we do the you know -- splits every day. And -- came across this item from ESPN. That. Actually took up I think it was half a dozen different instances. Of the individual teams in the NFL and ask fans in their sports nation poll asked fans to vote. Panic or patients. With these six particular team did you see them by any chance know okay. And in dot com it was on espn.com I certainly didn't ethical value yeah I had -- search for a little bit and and I actually don't have it up right now does have a couple notes written out. But. The one thing that I wanted to do here -- today go to start out the program. He has offered to our listeners web radio pat Patriots dot com. Also the telephone number five -- five point 37482. Very simple question today in terms of our our question of the day. Do you preach show patience or do you push the panic button. With a Patriots concerned after three weeks and tell me why. You vote the way you do. Panic or patience with the nor Patriots now. You know you can obviously go on -- you know if you're able to find the serving his legacy it. It wasn't ready. And done yell. -- and figure out you know which was sports nations voting right now but I I have the numbers as of about half an hour about -- a bit but. I just be curious to know right off the top your head. What you think what's your initial gut reaction. You know considering everything that we've gone through through three weeks and it's been considerable. Would you is it time to push the panic button."
[7:54]" Or do you. Preach patience here where the Patriots are concerned. I've preached hate on because you know working with the quarterback with limited experience in and get the reps at at the time in this. System in actual NFL gains before we can fully judge capability in his -- We need a little bit more than two yards and more than half the game -- I need you will have more applicable Italian and we had. And -- and now there had been an enclosed which I was back from a player with no parents like him. He always happen -- chief game but he played well I thought he was being attacked in Jets. And me personally I thought he was terrible Sunday in Miami now. Keep in mind he's not the reason they lost the game but he's one of the many players who underperformed afternoon he was not very good at all though US -- peak value I say patience because he's only had two art and it's that third week of the season. I can't push the panic button. In week three unless number one team is a laundry. Because at that point it's almost nearly statistically impossible to get to a Superbowl and win 1 Ontario north and when -- done it. In a few teams have done it go into the giant that lesser known to. But now what team in auto three and when the Superbowl that and -- that weighs on your soul is a zero victory. Number two if you have been devastating injury at that point that changed the course of the season but we got that a week one. Now we have a new quarterback in there because Tom Brady. That has changed things but again that was -- one -- two weeks later it's now week for coming up at the bye week you have to. Expect impatient -- the biggest concern I would have is that -- getting pushed around like it did on Sunday. That concern because we saw that the pre season. We've pretty much blamed it on Vanilla coverages and I'll play calling while it wasn't an on Sunday it was bad. Flat out bad and that has changed if that doesn't change in -- week three -- in agony at that and it."
[9:45]" Sense to me -- like you know you know you could at least make case for pushing the panic button now with -- with -- at least the -- is concerned I. I don't tend to agree in terms of the them they'll preaching patience. Matt Cassel concern although yesterday here on the program. I you know I came up with a couple things that I thought that would inject some life into the team a little I thought that maybe this team was ready to have a little. Energy level emotional little just a little something something if you will. Injected into it that a couple ways you can do it number one cut somebody. That. Plain and -- just cut somebody take somebody and that's established that hasn't been getting the job done. In the clubhouse -- veteran presence in particular and say that's it you're done thank you very much or. I've been an advocate of for giving Jeff Garcia -- especially you can get him for nothing and and I thought that it would be just enough to shake things up. And just to get guys thinking differently or maybe looking over the shoulders because you just want to make -- the complacency doesn't it and it is frankly. Such a loss for words for Sunday's. Game and I'm running short and really call again. Events let's say and it's at a loss for words that -- the navy what was hurting the Citadel it was complacent because of Joey Porter opener in his -- Can't get the Patriots emotions running a little bit what."
[11:02]" Can't. Well I mean that's that's only goes so far John I mean at the end of the day if Miami's they're running a spread offense that you keep it can't cover over the middle. I don't care what to a report -- part of you are now I don't know quite good to flat out -- somebody just make a point. I would bring people -- if I think they're going to help the team win -- somebody needs to be put I don't think Matt -- really needs to be pushed. By having Jeff Garcia committed to ticket he naps and try out outdated they complacent as part I would go to player if he's dog and it. If somebody is not give me a 100% that I may bring in a couple of guys put -- say hey you know what you can be your play tomorrow. We could sign this guy you could be out here -- on the unemployment line again but that's his -- he's out there trying hard is no doubt about that he's trying to make the plays. He does not have the period. And maybe -- have the talent has time Brady doesn't -- all established that in time breed the two time equivalent BP to say that somebody's not counted him resided in."
[11:57]" No no no absolutely not but here's what I thought about -- your -- he hasn't done poorly. It would seem to me that and again just based on -- you know my observations of him in the first couple weeks here. It seems to me that he's checking off in the east on the safety room. And I don't -- there if that's by design. If the coaches are insisting that he -- a little bit more conservative. Or if match just afraid to pull the trigger on shall we say a deeper route I think that's something. That have to happen for the team he's got to. Play a little bit more that swashbuckling. Let's you know. In our ears back and go type of attitude because this team all -- is predicated on that kind of loss of."
[12:38]" Well I have a couple is looking at that in part of the promise teams trying to take -- months out of the game now. And the reason they're going to do it Mac as well because the greater chance that -- maybe trying to force something and a double coverage than there would be time great but as he he threw a couple of weeks Matt Cassel. Is willing to take the check check down or Seaver and or somebody else who is open. On the flip side that I -- much protection up front Cassel is pressure all day on Sunday -- not have to kinda drop back pass. There's no way you can run a 2530 yards and if you don't have more than three seconds to throw the ball. That part of prompt do. It is going to happen with the deep and gives -- a time though I -- and again always it's a combination of things out much like bill. But I think they were in place and that came on I knew they weren't even trying to go deep I agree with you'll under percent on that. Every now they -- tickets. You have to write something bring in an extra tight in the blocked -- and protection up front but do somethin' to -- it out. And I thought last week was the perfect opportunity against -- into the league ranked dead last in the past."
[13:37]" That's for the that that -- I keep coming back to. And I'm still shaken my it's my head about you know three days after the fact is that in Miami -- so poorly rated special of the secondary in the Patriots. Just could not find a way to take advantage of that and I'm still trying to figure how the -- that happened I you know -- by the way you -- a good point and that I had a couple of email -- suggestion on the show yesterday. That how come it seems like the offensive line is getting off here when. Nobody's ever said they should get often Franklin and the the offensive line misses some of the athletic schism. And maybe the toughness of Stephen Neal."
[14:12]" I agree to help particularly on screenplays that you really need athletic conference alignment degree screen. And had guys can get up the field -- a lot but at the end of the day comes got to protect the quarterback and if you're going to take chances deep you need more than two with three seconds throw now. I don't know the lines getting off too easily here because there are a lot of people who are still pretty ticked off over the Superbowl. And how the line played and that day that's an offensive line John and three players of the Provo. Didn't and evidently like all know I am -- now like -- like in the biggest game of the season and had bet that does not that well a lot of people and probably does at well at them as unity."
[14:48]" Well again I guess it it it it it Bears watching but I like you said I I think that they're still struggling to find some continuity. I think we all know that the opens one is the one part of this football team when you know this team. On any team released by the plays football at that needs to have a little chemistry little continuity amongst in him when you don't have that. It becomes more more difficult to to be effective offensively."
[15:14]" Is not just. Billy Yates had better play you know -- think Mankins has played particularly well not what -- him get over -- currently he had his in the tackles have been those though at this point season as a combined team after. You really have to deal -- going to go forward now NCAA has been there for a couple weeks I think he's an okay. There there have been some plays on screens or he's -- a real nice job adults -- praised him for that but. Over the course of maybe another 45 weeks I think when you overexposed certain players you get her. There -- players who fit roles perfectly and each Redick and then beyond that it only comes back to bite you -- Jabar Gaffney is another one where he's a good. Number of or is he very may be out there -- big plays a game but not as a number three. Maybe taken a third of the passes and academic and or anybody but I think when -- over those players it does Richmond and eventually at some point yeah."
[16:06]" That's true you know I figured it probably could and so you know the offensive line has got to be an issue. I think it's. You know. Tight -- we haven't had a -- Benjamin Watson at least until this last week and magazine and even some -- I was completely healthy there and David Thomas missed all of last year. And so when you think about it and you try to you know almost go man to man on this particular era item. Hard on this agenda of what's wrong -- this football team you can kind of see where that you know. Lacking consistency if not outstanding performance where this team could be you know -- and maybe some reasons behind this team is failing to hit on all cylinders. Hey we ask them power rankings by the way -- I don't usually on the power rankings yeah only only only because I think that -- only does that like opinion and that's."
[16:52]" Well we gotta clean up my friend differences in his Vickers his weekly ranking NFL dot com right number one -- doubt yeah number two Padilla to Murton number three Philadelphia who won. And he -- number of war and ask if we agree with -- the Buffalo -- yeah I saw that that was on them. Which which -- always -- is -- and -- originally going to build -- come right yeah absolutely you know pitcher by the way not in the top twelve no and they -- the top twelve last week and I got together and now the emblem. Right he kept him in the middle the pack this week which frankly was a little bit of a surprise to me yeah that's old now if you compliment -- packets line."
[17:30]" Yeah yeah I would think so I thought they were toppled team a week ago I don't know they are now. Based on just a three week snapshot I would certainly you know tend to agree with that. You know. I'm not seeing it or Buffalo's concern I mean I realize that the bills. -- three -- I realized the bills have got in improved it. Defensive numbers overall. I don't think they've allowed yet 300 yards total offense now game. To any of their opponents yet so you know I think it's all it'll -- in the right direction that there at least effective enough. On offense but are are they the fourth best team in the NFL well. I based on what."
[18:09]" Really literally five undefeated teams. It Dallas New York Buffalo ten in Denver now I think dinners the most fraudulent ball -- going oh and yeah no degree heat and terrible data in. That beneficiaries of two very fortuitous call. So they could very easily be one into until they stop somebody that's not alas that's -- to Patriots right there. But it doesn't to -- all -- at the Reno. On points by people all the could not stop anybody and it came back to -- and finished 97. Now. I think that reserves front and he has doing it with all the fans. How much longer -- Kerry Collins. -- and now Kerry Collins is a serviceable backup I don't know if that -- going to be good enough. Down the stretch then. You know. Yes I probably put Buffalo the top four now. Trent Edwards and -- particularly down the stretch in game where in all of it on PFW in progress yesterday. He's so little bit of that mock you know in the fourth quarter right -- did you definitely against Oakland yeah that is in fourth quarter point to win that game. I mean that that you really want to that's -- we need to hear from Mecca. If you get to a team like back -- neck and rally back from ten point fourth quarter deficit for example could he do that always seeing -- now Trent Edwards. And I always agree with Billy being a much better team than their record shows it to one. I -- eight ages. They overwhelmed there. 88 a steroid I would -- has -- and a -- doesn't -- differences that yeah the only -- offensive effort that it happens against thousand doubt excellent point. It's hard to argue between you know you could argue between Dallas and New York Giants -- it be against the Bengals pulled out in the and I thought -- it was a little bit of a let down and -- it looked quite as quick as they did the week before. And an -- not very good either and -- though. Yet who are going to play in the top four over over Buffalo would you put tennis yet there would you put green day Green Bay at 21 arm or. Or now Pittsburgh with -- we don't know his future's going to be. Carolina. No I don't think so maybe you could take a hot team and I used -- because the third week but Washington has won two -- 21 now. Do you camel points and good ball. -- you watched in Mosul the do. He can be based on trends if you see a team moving in the right direction you meet in the put them higher even if the team has the record but it may be losing a couple of games. He attended the Tenet and the B I don't know like Green Bay -- and beat by now in Pittsburgh is getting beat up by -- They drop and a victory Green Bay went from -- Kevin Pittsburgh who sit."
[20:54]" He you know again I try not to get too caught up in. How much a team moves up or down week to week -- Inca will realize it's you know it's pure conjecture here but at the same time though it's interesting to see trends. And it's interesting to see what others who were well thought of in this particular business think of you and other teams. And I kind of tend to feel like -- least early in the season. Teamed -- the top get a little bit over rated. Not an all cases because right now on the Dallas Cowboys probably the best overall team in the NFL but Dallas still got some work to do defense. There's not a complete team in the league at all right now. Everybody still has some work to do some obviously more so than others but. I I just. You know why would you why wouldn't you why would you put Buffalo in in a position where they would be in the top 45 because there's only five undefeated teams overall they haven't been beaten yet in -- pitches to three weeks snapshot we're talking about and they probably deserved to be either but to me. You know from what I've seen. The clips that I've seen the bills I actually tried to watch a little bit of their stuff on in a film that would this week to so. I get a better sense of maybe what the Patriots were actually going to go up against this year. -- I'm still. I see a team that seems a little tighter a little bit more disciplined. And I see a team that may be knows. What they need to do and what is expected of them by Dick Jauron but. I don't see a whole lot of flash and I certainly don't see. Two media personnel groupings that are vastly given what we -- a year ago."
[22:24]" Right and I think when you go back to power rankings you want to start with the undefeated team. And then you take the next best and -- anybody can crack that group ammonium defeated if there's somebody who is better than ever -- Sudden death and that night doing that that's like Philly is -- to people outside Philly is so -- There's lot people think there is a very good football team and yeah I'm not physically on that bandwagon but."
[22:46]" No but it it's hard to argue it is based on what we've seen them on the field and and I think the perception is I think a lot of times when you have a quarterback. Who sort of surpasses. The game if you will and Donovan McNabb is kind of return to form just a little I think that as a -- to all inflate your overall value. Yeah -- agree that. It's certainly our potential more so yeah performance by via I would agree that. Mike -- with a here inside the play book today as we roll along on Wednesday don't forget. A web radio at Patriots dot com email address our question of the day panic or patients. Which -- are you pushing for the Patriots and tell us why. UC panic or patience with the Patriots are concerned after three weeks going into the bye week that's that's number one. Number two there's a ton of other NFL news today and we be remiss of week. If we didn't get you know jump on a little bit this because a lot of it very interesting not the least of which the fact. Is that somehow some way. Somebody got smart and Detroit decided to like both Matt Millen because the team president and CEO of the of the alliance is finally. Golf on it to me that's probably the the lead story in the entire league for released today anyway."
[23:57]" Yet we were talking about that on the pre owned houses along with only spots draft pick in the failure is over here sign an extension. In 2005 through 2010. So I mean he still was good for what a couple of more years after this one -- on him and I guess. Based on what I've been able to read it's unclear whether he was fired or he was asked to resign. But at least he's out. We need the re -- among -- your agent right and there's already some conjecture that he could end up somewhere else in the NFL perhaps for the team on the west coast and all kinds of things going out of them making a coach pat yeah I wondered though. Why now. And I don't know what you guys talked about early today but why now as opposed to. Earlier. When this team was an NFL worst 31 and 84 since he became GM in 2001 yet analytical broke the Camel's back here. -- they had these funny evening the last three or four years yeah I don't know that the added a vice chairman bill Ford I think it is legalized it come out publicly a couple of days ago and says hey. If I had the authority I'd fire the guy yet but head and everybody said that in Detroit."
[25:07]" That that's the thing I don't and he probably said that knowing a move is going to be made some that was in the work he's able to at least -- to grieve -- in -- yeah I Favre news. In -- off an -- respect them but I just don't get after only losing seasons. And a much in the book 31 and 84. During that stretch has been allowed just yeah that is and how many wide receivers they draft over the years and yet couple those guys are definitely -- take enough for me at some point. On the -- stick. It just it lineman in -- one it's got to be good. -- missed badly on the mothers went in what I every Jets they never attracted to build the now which has a problem with that can't happen but it never stop anybody. When was the last Corey are or even very good which were actually very very odd because he was obviously a suitable champ as a line but yet. Which makes those do you think you after a couple linebackers -- I don't get it but that that early opinion simpler and yeah that's that that's a big story. Actually I think that the may be the best moves he made it. As a GM."
[26:16]" Alliance probably drafting guys like Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson and those aren't those LSU tell why ain't the -- that guys are made via. They're very good -- as well. But there was so many failures in between. Today to. The negative borrow it. Well the won loss record what. Outweighs everything else what is he's finally done in baby Lions fans -- turning three but it book. A little bit of relief the other bit of news to Davidson coming out of the NFL would certainly hitting the headlines the fact that the Giants have suspended Plaxico Burress for game. For an undisclosed violation of team rules of her bad threes before. The Giants have a bye this weekend as the Patriots of course. So it means he's going to miss a game the following week against Seattle. I just saw on ESPN where road they interview Drew rosenhaus who is. -- his agent and they're going to appeal the suspension. They're going to try to take it to an arbitrator -- have him in uniform next -- for the October you up for the October 5 you know against Seattle and here we go again."
[27:20]" What's the point -- Indians as -- in return phone calls that on him. That on and the that the communication in misunderstanding. Alight though we -- meeting today in your own quarterback comedy according to earlier. Yeah Mike according to Rosen said that. He had a family matter to a then well that's when you go to the team -- important nationally what you would think so. I mean there's no way around that is only the data yet really emergency tellem are currently at the net that's his problem. I don't know that that. You -- and -- get a lead and you know that Tom Coughlin I mean my goodness I mean -- isn't -- I I can't imagine him bending on this one at all now but don't -- to some degree they have Ortiz and because through game. One of those we include. So you know -- get who get hit -- he'll lose to -- Jack. I'm pretty sure if you could be wrong and wrong correctly I think you -- to. Dismiss the one. They don't want -- all the reports that he's been for a two week. But will miss October 5 game follows the team by my -- union give back to -- now maybe but and to any degree. It disappointing eat him up a great post season caught the winning touchdown in the Superbowl. -- multiyear extension doesn't mean much and camp October and make business decisions. Is a bit of distraction and he had played well so far and now that. And Indians are -- well and -- and they played good football. And and -- it's great it's great to have him in there but the Giants have been some pretty good depth at wide receivers you and -- emotion by one week kill them you know. But it is -- that press and if you don't have to -- one of the leaders."
[29:10]" That's that's obviously true I think it's kind of hitters and kind of leads me back and get some of the other moves that were. Made in the NFL but I I bring it up only sort of been in juxtaposed against the so most of that you actually put on Patriots dot com today in the news blitz. About. One of the stories that came in I guess it was The Herald partly from longer something about three to sort it once here. Where The Herald asked the media and the fans to lay off for Randy -- yet and I thought that was an interesting piece number one. And I understand why people NY fans might be on Moss and think that you know he could. Perform an about face just given his previous performances in his personality at least personally were led to believe that he as. What are your thoughts on that and is it possible that he could pull a Plaxico Burress and just decide to. Open leave at some point in time."
[30:02]" I would -- it based on past though his chance he can get disgruntled and frustrated with like the offense and that -- getting the ball. I'm not worlds ago there yet because he has had all the right things after games during the week leading up to gains every time you talked to the media he has had all the right things he has been supportive of -- He hasn't done anything different on the sidelines when he was doing in the -- to me. That's to me -- not anything that would lead me to believe that he is right now ticking time. Now that could change he to walk off the field in two weeks after. Having passed pirate all right I need to go back in women's amateur pick them and do something. In Florida -- TO Donovan McNabb shouting matches up and down -- line. Something like that would have to happen from me are you -- this is a little bit off Keith -- believe that things are starting to revert back. But I think it's anything yet I think he's been fine. Yes he's probably frustrated that he's not getting the ball on dramatic castles frustrated that he can't get him the ball. Coach -- that it is he's a big time weapon."
[31:06]" Karen Regan wrote the article in The Herald and it was based on. The television broadcast Solomon Wilcox was down on the sideline for CBS. And he called Randy Moss out. For particular play. It was a third down ball he didn't extend his arms to make catch it so she. Beat this being a care in the herald reporter called -- will -- basically to ask about that and get his thoughts on Moss. And will -- and he thought he could have fought harder for the ball on that particular throw. But for the most part he thought that Randy -- was into the game and he wasn't necessarily frustrated would double coverage. And he doesn't necessarily think that. Moss is going to become disinterested if you know this season all of a sudden goes you know when -- downward spiral. You left again. He can't anymore as that we needed. -- line. And while he was joking and he was Latin music that -- they won the football. I what do you make of you know his numbers comparison would this time a year ago is that all. On Brady and Norman -- or is this also partly because of the way the offense is trying to operate right now and he's ten catches behind were well yet this time you're at about four touchdowns touchdowns as well right."
[32:23]" I think part of it is the fact that he does that the best quarterback in football into him right now and -- teams are going after -- against them -- they have to at some point with Cassell. But just what they do open. You can make all the team play Tom Brady as -- can build a second -- in the past. And not necessarily talking about the situation particularly talking about quarterback play in general. Or even any of that matter -- players are more comfortable with and plays another. You know everybody has their string opening half rank this -- accuracy deep downfield. Very -- throwing arm. But from an -- him point I think he has a bit lacking I think that's for Tom Brady really know. You don't make the argument about the decision making maybe you don't want to take as many chances user -- even -- or as deep down field. Typically -- And those are all concerns and that has all added up to this point now redeem on become Amani -- to me you've become a guy's running -- yard out about. They cannot get in the ball and the other and that's going to be back at the B rating for anybody any. It's really accommodation or that it kind of held him down. And and not going to change until they are getting better protection up front. Or in Cassell becomes all the more familiar with his receiver. And -- more comfortable in the pocket do you sense that something is building up here though because I'm kinda led to believe something -- And I don't overnight yet frustration yet again. I mean he's talking he's talking into the median number one college. You know would be a positive sign because you know I I duties by the media because because -- the demand for -- team is asked him to but little little sideways -- Ricky Martin and he can shut it down yet he has in the past right and he has yet at that point it's always been the main tournament. -- isn't always talk that much but he's not that talk and -- you know vocal leadership role of art. He's normal and then he can among other possibility of other player's. Locker room right on that podium -- game is Sunday. But something or and and off color remark or something that I can read and I haven't gone. Yet I -- at this potential no question. And that and it if he doesn't like that Lotta speculation. Well that's on him because he he made his bed with his behavior times in Minnesota Oakland absolutely he has nobody to blame it all for his reputation you create your own reputation. In life or in sports or any degree. By the way so -- deal that."
[34:57]" Somewhat coincidentally the Patriots did fill the last roster spot with Maurice Price. A wide receiver who had been with Kansas City which I I thought incredibly odd. Especially in the fact the Brandon Meriweather went down we surmised yesterday that maybe a guy like John Lynch could be on his -- the Patriots did not go that route."
[35:15]" Well matter whether the fine he's been out there today is another practice mine I don't think there's really any long term lingering effects there. But -- and breathe a sigh of relief in the secondary. Are eager right now Kelly Washington's -- And he's a big time performer on special teams. Not much an offense that he's got involved and a couple of plays. I think price the guy that come -- and play on offense -- by talking to him today in some of the guys locker room and -- and doesn't late he's much of a special humor anymore. Arnold -- you really have a role is a tall guy. As part of the return game he's not going to be -- it now was not overly college only one but 61 while -- there he can't hear that. I cannot -- United ain't so. Damian Moss being the tallest guy in and he he's there -- have an out. I think he's a guy that could be out there and you know a few plays -- have Kelley Washington -- really it beyond -- would you have in you have before he's in the running backs tight -- do we need you need at least maybe one more vertical threat -- has to be that guy but again humidity can be RF for the -- a lot of commando you know a year yeah among them in the -- in the future anyway this could be that sort of thing he. -- get a feel her out there what all of right right what did you think rhythm of my creases article when he asked by several people around the NFL what they thought. Of the Patriots start after three weeks and were you able to take any useful information out of it yeah like the part about dictating the tempo I think that's a big sticking point I think when you can come out. Like last year's team couldn't drop 21 points in the first quarter on somebody you have now dictated the tempo of the game. You have taken the other team's offense meet one dimensional because they can't on the football anymore. You have made life easier very deep and everything really. As a trickle down effect from there I think when you can dictate the tempo it's they have not done yet this season that's a big thing so now we see how they perform in close games. Our games they're trailing in the fourth quarter all are neck and neck in the -- exchanging touchdown. Little bit different when your team has entire playbook and it disposal because you haven't made them one dimensional. So you know that that's the biggest that it took from it everything else I kind of agree with an an minority really thought of -- particularly with whether they are. Now he dumbing it down like giving dazzle fewer plays. Trying to simplify things that those are all good talking points to but the fact what dictated -- I think very important in the game."
[37:45]" How about the -- the way in and what that did the temple certainly is important I think that's one thing the Patriots we knew that were very consistent with. When things were going well over the last couple years they could always dictate to the other team how to play the game was it was going to be a run first or pass first over it was Columbia. No huddle type but today they're going to -- it would kicking that war field position battle whatever may be the Patriots -- the always the first team to strike the first blow one now obviously. They're being dictated to that is a major shift that probably. Until we started taught anybody -- probably hasn't been dead -- to a lot of people specially a lot of fans."
[38:20]" Now you what he opens at these days of the their run in the same four -- five plays. There really isn't much adversity right now because throwing deep. They don't feel they can throw -- deep and haven't been able to do so because Randy Moss has been taken out of the game plan a lot of other teams so. Instead of coming around thinking oh boy we get a lineup and dime package coverage to open the team -- put you know sixty back on the field try to do something while the anchor back there on the football karma that way. Now and our brittle to try to do you guys that are on those screens. And and that that the Dolphins and a great job of not being passed on Sunday it was like we saw with the Jets who I know -- four. One because they're getting blocked out of plays to because they couldn't tackle. In this case Dolphins weren't getting blocked out of place they were right there on the ball that -- the ball incredibly well on the -- on Sunday and he made those plays I can't think of maybe. More than one or two greens that really worked on Sunday. Nothing like I mean the first play from scrimmage in the jet game Kevin -- ended up with the -- plus yard gain screen. We Italy and they know we did it it seems to figure with the trying to do offensively. Now I have a problem now last year that there was some degree -- of competitiveness of because they can throw the ball is going to point. But when you do that as often as they do teams start preparing for that in nineteen hit him with the running game. Prom is now accused of preparing for the run. In 2008 -- throw deep to beat them I don't know we haven't yet."
[39:46]" The go gadget plays were somewhat bothersome and was and obviously a lot of time the last couple days. Talking about that and the fact is that you know until the Patriots recognize -- number one. And step up to do something about it number two. There's a very good chance that -- those plays again at some point in time. On down like maybe not next week maybe not the weekend but somewhere somebody's going to take a look at Vincent and let's kind of put this in in the hopper for. When we played this team and I think the ease in which they were performed -- executed was most startling about it."
[40:22]" Yeah -- I think we would Seymour teams lining up for a wide five wide of the backfield and upbeat and -- lead in the middle of the field open. Now out over you direct snaps in the -- as it snaps to a wide receiver lining up quarterback. On a lot of teams have that much diversity among their personnel their means to be seen but the problem that I had is all port five time. And not making and it just me via the second time which is very un Patriot like. Under the Bill Belichick regime. More often than not they figure something out at some point any team. Here's the team is doing here is where -- players lining up here is where they're switching this player to and buy it by not being able to that on Sunday. I was alarmed by that that was the worst thing about me that they never figured out. And guys are confusing guys after the game said Richard Seymour is that we early chickens and I had any. What heavier than say that. Never in tightly to her her to write -- and yeah and that is very it is very alarming to. Air means we needed day and -- getting -- somebody's trickery and future returns annually with Dolphins did. I don't know that or -- much but I do expect -- teams aren't tinker with them their plays now and you know maybe try to catch and napping. -- they're not -- with that I keep doing it with the Dolphins. Right."
[41:42]" Interesting story today about teams in and kind of bring -- back full circle to. Were we started talking about the Buffalo Bills in both will be one of the of the 53 -- teams. And I saw this article. Earlier today on. The fact that -- there are you know even though. This is written by Larry Weisman of USA today I don't know if you saw the article. Talking about how at least mathematically speaking. Hum. If the news if you -- three and old to start the season. That you're almost assured of of the postseason. Which again Greg reflects in the papers because the Buffalo Bills one of those teams. Since the NFL expanded the postseason format in 1990 to the current twelve teams. Since then 93 teams have won their first three games. And 72. Of them resulted in playoff berths that's a success ratio better than seventy some percent. While I was not aware that much Marino yup because they like teams that some pretty horrific second half collapse over the years we've seen a couple of the last few years but that. To me you know that that that's you know that's an eye opener again in light of the fact that the bills are one of those teams. And that the bills are so highly thought of right now on that maybe we're still coming to grips with the fact it may be Buffalo is actually improved. Over what we -- you're going it's hard for us to really."
[43:08]" I guess get a true grasp of it because the Patriots have just that we dominated the series of Buffalo Willis of yours. That -- only game I'm looking forward to where both teams aren't at that point how far along are. When Buffalo diligently. On now mall looking for Buffalo weekend if they ignored for now. I -- currently are to believe all the more at the porno. Because they've had good R before but not forego that that that that -- back Jim Kelly. Our own weight there. Johnson Doug -- Those -- on time for Buffalo the he'd been as good. You know and you into the week. And he did you wish you would you about it -- really is -- one more week. Give -- entire month of September gave them they'll try to form will have more in because right now on one. The team -- before. And it read this script with great young DNY. All. -- I'm I'm a -- like."
[44:09]" I'm right there with you on this okay I don't league you know you only you're gonna have to convince -- to Patriots fans that the jury still out. On Buffalo I just on the entire article here and again I don't you don't usually get a whole lot of really insightful stuff on USA today it's right it's like -- little snapshot -- which I understand they don't just don't have the space to do a lot of in depth stuff. But I thought Larry's article was actually quite good. Let me -- a couple for instances for those that might not have seen the article earlier today. For instance you called earlier in our conversation you call the Denver Broncos fraud at Reno right. Okay. There -- three you know for the tenth time in franchise history but. Twice before this year they have started three NL in failed to qualify for the playoffs there one of those -- team so maybe they're one of the -- yeah right. The could be could be at -- could be there again. In fact they were one of sixteens. That won their first three games get this now this is what fun is a tremendous statistical anomaly for those that really get into the numbers here. All the Broncos were one of six teams that won their first three games in 2002. All six of those teams. Missed the playoffs -- 281. Of them via. That's right in 2002 this is this is really I thought isn't -- redeem maybe say why -- you know like added I guess I didn't really realize that all these teams started three you know. In 2002 Carolina. Denver Miami New England New Orleans. And San Diego all of sixteen started three and out. The best records were Denver Miami new England -- New Orleans all finished nine and seven."
[45:45]" I was aware here because it three rate high yeah bizarre year 3917. And Jets want to tiebreaker that -- Patriots lost -- yet the Jets team here. -- on -- and last weekend beat New England with the last weekend. On another Dolphins last -- okay the Jets yet the Jets or Dolphins. The way their playoff hopes by blowing a big fourth quarter lead in the that's rally that that kind of both teams are out of it and all the Jets had to do -- beat green gave -- day. And that not -- that not the Patriot. I think. The Patriots knocked out the Dolphins a year remember correctly the last -- weeks and then the Jets knocked out the Patriots Jets the week before basically what they do all the had a when they had -- yeah hopefully the Jets right bit of the world -- or whatever once -- we had a late afternoon of an -- game that's correct and they had the they destroyed green -- all right. And that's our -- that that was strange you know back of the order as the year goes on it is that -- is -- right now. Who who is really good at this point you know and that's why no 11 who."
[46:47]" Right I think that's why you need your air actually right -- that you know. You're you're touching on some that I think is going to be key to the remainder of the season might in fact. The that this entire season for the AFC's going to be one where you throw caution the went -- this whole bunch of teams into the breeze and see which one lands first that maybe your best bet to get out of this conference."
[47:06]" You know Fred talked about it to show yesterday that he thinks this is the year that he can't -- Has reestablished. Dominance. I don't disagree that now taken over that we are seeing it right it was hot teams and now he believes firmly and and Philly and rightly be very good example one of those games from this past Sunday. The -- Philadelphia beat up on Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh was a team that we everybody thought was probably you know the best in the AFC absolutely oh and you could -- Isn't in the and it in the AL east -- were canines and team when it went that would get from a pot."
[47:41]" Well again I will go back to two weeks ago when we first started talking about. What could the Patriots do without Tom Brady and I said I still think that ten and six is eminently possible and I think ten and six is imminently doable to win the division. And I think if the Patriots if you would give the Patriots ten and six right now would you take it if you could tell me. That they would be division champ -- six absolutely you have to until now it."
[48:05]" I think -- take tense it away. Because I think there are concerns and Sunday and I think the biggest thing in not being one of the people pushing the panic and but the thing is you can't look at the schedule this oppose it easy schedule anymore and -- chalking -- wins here because if Miami can come here and do what they did. Who they can't go to France. Or a go to Seattle in the sure there are no more there really are no more gimme if they had to. Be in the hands off Miami on Sunday and it's okay you know what they will be at the teams are supposed to -- now enough this year."
[48:44]" Now we have the way to open it. And now he yeah Ray Allen Ray Allen you know and -- now two and one. I'd probably take tennis at the guarantee meat and I think that and I would make it. That -- give me a wildcard. In the NC I don't know why the B I think the AFC east teams are going to be each other as I don't know who's gonna go twelve whose uncle twelve or thirteen victory in Denver is not going to. I don't think he's probably anybody and in the if he's going to go thirteen three out of -- twelve and four maybe. It's not need this series twelve for now where in years past he'd be fifteen -- want to get -- or fourteen to again it's what's happened at. That's compelling players that -- think about that at that sign of things on the decline of the or are you want to look at the glass apple perspective music is more parity. -- I want to look at."
[49:34]" I think I think it's there's a combination number one. And and I -- I think I'd be saying in this even if you know the Patriots weren't in the situation with Brady because I think we saw. Be honest with -- that we saw. Even though you know. What we thought we saw me which -- and that all of this and that'll lead during the exhibition season but frankly. What I saw in the pre season was on the beyond that I saw. The Patriots worry more about personnel groupings. In not so much about you know execution on the field. And I saw that come up and bite them in the reorient especially magnified now affected their general the field general Tom Brady is not around to call the signals and they needed. They needed -- I've also seen. Other team's game plan specific -- specifically for. How do we improve ourselves to the point where we can beat. Competitive with new England and this is goes beyond just the teams with in the east division. I mean Denver is a great example here. I mean who have written I read about it the last several weeks. On in the year in the Denver newspapers -- offensively speaking Denver. -- basically stolen pages out of the Patriots playbook yeah term loosely that in steal nine I don't want to raise borrowed -- know what they've done -- that take in the same ideology behind with the Patriots have done office and applied and look at what they're doing. With a guy who they're extremely excited about in his very Tom Brady like at this stage of his career in Jay Cutler. NFL for a copycat league. Exactly something more everything else going to do it that's exactly right teens. Are now after three or four years of watching the Patriots. Basically dominate them within the AFC teams are finally catch and on. And they're there they're their emulating the Patriots. They're trying to figure all right if they can do this how can we pull that ball what they're doing or something like that. -- great example and look at the offensive numbers but the Broncos -- real and up. Other teams are catching up so this means the Patriots that they can step back other teams have taken a step up what do you have. You have basically anybody can win you've got parity yes indeed that. Fans and Uga players -- front office people. The teams around the entire AFC -- really excited right now thinking of the possibilities that they could be in the mix this year. After basically getting beat the cup for the Patriots over the last several years. That is what we currently have. Boiling over in the AFC whereas in the NFC they're going to the whole cast system and right now Cowboys at the -- but he."
[52:04]" I think our pal any Hermann who emailed us would agree that adamant because he says he is not -- in the bank one. Yet he is only one bad game and mentioned it last week before the -- game. Is green and -- game not going deep -- the deacons could not that may be trouble dollar cap goes deep on though he can throw long right but I think it's reluctant on the coaching staff I'd do it. Being eight and yet he throws me not being accurate Brady's but it got to try more than two point game. I agree that it hit the shots maybe you'll see that finally into week. At San Francisco against their defense -- right I think a pretty decent deep hasn't -- players certainly patch well one can now. He had that big a yard interception return for a touchdown in week two. Might have been against Carolina. Again. Yeah but bottom line is -- they've got good players out there and he and and but maybe you can learn a minute day in and you take a couple of shots. -- somebody off guard because you haven't done it all year so when you finally do it. It's going to catch somebody by surprise I really try to air it out yet."
[53:05]" In the Dolphins have caught everybody by surprise in -- May -- maybe you know what they they certainly got the Patriots by surprise on Sunday but I read a couple of good things about the Dolphins this week in the aftermath where this is sort of been building. You know the Dolphins probably we're not as bad as their opening two losses would indicate certainly that is that is. Getting pounded and Arizona thirty when it's and I think that lulled everybody into us into a false sense of security that all yes same -- animals didn't ask. -- maybe Miami's will be close to being better with you know young offensive line Chad Pennington who still got you know some pop you know -- their quarterback. Ronnie Brown is looks to be fully recovered by in my estimation from the injury Ricky Williams is three motivated you've got you know unproven but young and maybe improving wide receivers and tight ends. You know -- defensively Joey Porter -- from the weak side perhaps now. You know maybe he's kind of been kick started rejuvenated his career there's a lot of different things going for them right now and in my before we kind of -- of the opening our year I wanted to get your thoughts on some of the articles that also come on the last -- so. About Brett Favre in the Jets. And how -- summer beginning to believe this is leading to a failed. Experiment with him. It's quarterback in New York can you make anything out of it yet and and what do you think about the particular Rose story there."
[54:25]" Well right now that's what good is not look like he has developed any sort of rhythm with his receivers yet. Is this protection breakdowns on that against New -- a couple we goes well. Now some may say he needs to get into them a little bit more and maybe given Byron we figured out. I would say it would go for a chat pennant and you know and maybe maybe Sunday it was the -- where he finally put it all together after a couple of -- partly -- and he came out of the game against Arizona. The Chad and and it is -- may be. Two and a half to three hours a cornerback Roger airway may be -- thought that -- and might not be the guy and we need to go seventeen point. Sunday here it's like eons ago. I think Bart needs more time I would call the other averages yet but right now currently David degrading -- occur because it's not working out yet. They're not running the ball particularly well. And the -- to -- similar situation to -- had to go -- I think Sunday in -- now -- made a few -- take -- that probably -- that they -- But again when if they necktie that and it's 4928. Whoever the girl might have been. He's going to be kind of limited so I I did -- cup all week but he -- October to having those problems yet and it."
[55:41]" You know I said this I think they're two ago and I want to -- you know because I think it kind of fits loans -- but frankly I think you know number one. It's more of a by -- affected the Jets team just isn't good enough built up around Brett Favre and maybe I don't know I don't think Favre is necessarily struggling with the playbook I don't buy that. Favre is his savvy veteran is there may ever be in NFL history quarterback. I don't think quarterbacks. Generally have a hard time picking up the playbook you know when they're in their twentieth year or whatever and he'd be in the week. I think it's the fact is that he doesn't have the personnel groupings around him that he had in Green Bay. I think that's the biggest problem that he's. Yeah I agree that talent -- Damon out like Laveranues Coles and Jericho Cotchery. You know often lines him point running game standpoint clearly that talent not name -- he green. That's it that's it for me I that -- so that's like appreciate your scenario in front nine -- it cute stuff aren't that -- or any of course from. It's actually closer to the technical middle part of the years. Then you might be led to believe. Just a matter conjecture here and I guess. Matter for instance but the fact is is that. And the Patriots this is what the schedule calls for. And Randy Moss mentioned a little bit after the game against Miami on Sunday that you know. Dropping him he beat up their play and again because. It just in his nature to want to try to correct things quickly and you don't -- I kind of that way too I understand how he feels. Because when you throw a stinker like that. And when I know that I make a big mistake. And obviously we all do from time to times broadcasters and in radio host and things like that happens. You want to get you want you want to get back on the air you want to get right back at it in in court and correct the problem or at least move lies that you put the mistake in the past. I understand how athletes -- like that I I I do I get that. I think the overwhelming majority of guys would rather just get right back up there on the field. And black somebody of some of the -- of the game correct things even though maybe. Giants may -- is probably in the best interest to sort of write that down and not step back just a little bit here and let's consider where we've come from where we may be going from here on out with -- if we can try to fix the correct double mistakes and not you know. Make the same types of mistakes over and this is what you can do with a week off. It's about what this team we don't a broken down the film live look at the videotape they've. -- have gone through and -- a lot of stuff I'm sure the guys and had some chances to get on themselves and get on each other about. What happened on the field against Miami it was an utter abysmal. Disaster. Pennant and ever a lot of different adjectives about what happened on Sunday and they're all appropriate. So there's really not much else to say Award to do with it. Accepted just you know learn from it. Don't forget about it completely because you know if you do. You know. When you ignore history then it tends to repeated so I'm sure you've heard a similar you know cliche in the past. And I don't think the Patriots need to ignore what happened but I do think they'd. Need to forget the bad and try to take some of the good that is of course from a learning perspective. And start playing that right now. And perhaps replying that would of preparations. For the next opponent which will be wheat from the Sunday and at San Francisco playing the game and improved it. 49ers team which which would jump all over next week as we get in the game we mode here again. And it will explore a little bit more -- closely yeah. Figure it was an -- the 49ers are indeed as improved as everybody thinks that they may be some that are off to a 21 starts will be interesting to see -- battle unfolds. So this team will spend some time now. Just regrouping and learning and taking some time off and whether or not it's you know healing or whether or not it's you know being with family or it would just you know chill out trying to decompress from. You know the frustrations. That we've seen over the course the last couple weeks here special with the key injuries that have transpired. We've sort of taken the of the point of -- here in this program that we wanted to take a look around it -- all the things around the NFL that could either directly or indirectly. Affect the Patriots. And in this -- the program we're going to hear from some of the guys. In the locker room written -- today. Sammy Morris Heath Evans Logan Mankins and -- Thomas. We all caught up with inside the locker room today to get their thoughts on the bye week and get their thoughts and where things stand right now after three game weeks and it to a one record the Patriots will give your chance to. Let you hear their thoughts coming up here in just a couple of moments here. -- in the meantime though we continue with our question of the day web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address of course and whether -- you. Are ready to panic. Or not. With the Patriots concerned what what -- you pushing pushing the panic button -- preaching patience panic or patience. Is the question today. Panic patients. And why. If you're ready to push the panic button if you don't like what you've seen and Mike Brady and I spent. A lot of the opening -- of the program -- you're just joining us. A lot of the opening are today talking about what we think is real and what is perceived and whether or not we should be panicky or not. Over some perceived areas of need improvement within the Patriot football team. But if you're ready to push the panic button great tell me why. If you're not ready to push the panic button that's fine too. But tell me why. There's a fine line I think in this particular instance. I gotta admit. My initial reaction and if you -- the program over the last week and a half persona advocated for you know the Patriots are what make a bold move. In particular you know -- maybe sign -- Jeff Garcia if you will kind of -- you know kick start some things. That could be perceived as a panic button measure. But there's a little part of me that thinks you know one no -- don't think so because when I listen to the analysts. -- on ESP and then in in in fox and some of the of the places that was into tomorrow. In one overriding factor keeps coming up and I believe I mentioned this in yesterday's program here but. The one overriding thing that keeps coming up in age with major concern of their old they can't move they can't get up and down. You know they're not mobile and I'd just like -- I'm Mike. These guys even stopped to watch this -- thing. I'll grant you they look pretty ancient on Sunday. But I have to think and I am of the opinion here that that was more of an aberration on Sunday than anything else. I just think it was a confluence of the right things the right time Miami Kahne who had nothing to lose. They threw the kitchen sink at Patriots in the Patriots fell for it. I don't with the Patriots -- his bat on the fence. Is they played on Sunday. So in that regard I'm not ready to push -- I think we still need to give. You know. Jerod Mayo and some of the other younger players who were beginning to seem more playing time of the -- an opportunity to do just that. Richard Seymour is not ancient Vince Wilfork is not ancient Ty Warren is not ancient. -- they're not old. In the -- making -- is older. But they've also gotten younger by comparison over a year ago. The secondary is another matter entirely. The secondary is still I think ultimately going to be a trouble spot for this for this team. And that's what we talked about before the season started that would be the one Achilles heel that this team might him. But that it would be less of an Achilles -- if the front three. And I guess you have to Ed really you know the two outside linebackers who you know pass -- well Vrabel and Thomas. Okay include those in the front 55 of the point seven anyway. You can include those guys if they can put an effective pass rush on the opposition is going to make that secondary heal up by a heck of a lot faster that's how the game is played. So I'm not ready to push the panic button. I'm ready to preach patience. With a deep -- concern. And yet here I am pushing the panic button advocating it. But that to change quarterback with the office is concerned doesn't make much sense does it until trying to figure okay why why -- think like that well. Okay -- I've just -- I've just not talked it through if you. And that's kind of where I am I'm a little bit I stand on a little different sides of the line of demarcation if you -- on both. Issues. Little differently feel little differently about the deepens than I do about the offense. You share those sentiments. Or do you not cheer -- Plenty of time for you to respond web radio act. Patriots dot -- Let me -- a couple of emails here -- gonna get into the locker room and Sammy Morris will be -- first. This would go from -- Merrimack New Hampshire and I apologize of these got rid earlier. But at any rate jolts as. So if Romeo gets fired from Cleveland to come back here. Well first of all yeah Cleveland beetle in three -- to say they're one of the negative surprises to start the season in the NFL. Derek Anderson did make a little bit of news today where. It wasn't so much -- me in the news of the Bradley in the news the same Anderson's still their quarterback but not yet ready. The say that. Brady's they're going to be their guy -- in terms of new quarterback is concerned. And that have got the archives. Piece of information on that particular issue here. Correct Romeo -- says. That the considered benching Anderson for Brady Quinn. But right now he says he's going to stick with -- Anderson and he's not really getting into the if she wins where is how long or anything else like that that was -- quote today. So Derek Anderson though he certainly been part of the reason that Cleveland struggled to the 13 start Derek Anderson still keep his job. Now whether or not that directly leads to Romeo Crennel moving his job is another matter entirely. And if he gets fired from Cleveland does come back here probably not. At least not right away personable you'd have to have Julien after him an opening your own staff. And I don't know if you've been there done that you want to repeat that I mean if you're looking for work and he needed job. And there's an opening there will -- sure of the -- take a look at it but. Here's the thing in the Patriots decide this year the Dean Pees ultimately. Is not. Their guy. -- that they need to make a change in this particular instance let's say things continue -- south from here for the defects. Well that you might want to make a change coach except the that you got a guy like dom -- already on staff who's been an NFL coach -- because you already had a -- step. Wouldn't you -- him the first like you know. Not here. In May -- he's out there also look at her -- job which I would assume Romeo Cornell would be as well. He only comes in if I think both of those guys are no longer with the Patriots. They might ask him to come back they might. But again been there done that you'd just you'd never know. Interesting question but. Again I find -- of the scenarios it would take a lot of different things have happened with that happening here. -- from the Bronx do you think you're going to be any additions in subtraction either before or after the bye week Maroney to me is proving not to be durable. I can honestly not see how the guy from Dallas was his back up. You think the guys think they should be bringing in somebody election Alexander into the full well personable. Marion Barber was not Laurence Maroney back of the Minnesota. Barber was actually a year or two ahead of morally and they played together in -- back field. In the backfield one year at Minnesota and then Maroney. Played his last belliard of the it was a Minnesota after barber had left. I don't know if you can really say he was the back I don't think it was like that. Com. When I'm wondering. Is Malcolm Minnesota -- and still does. He -- a couple of guys like ethnic opened the bag -- me pretty good fumble for a while the Maloney was there but. Man how did they -- that. Anyway. Maroney not -- I've said that all along about the guy if you listen this program and all you know that I feel that way. But Laurence Maroney and I'm beginning to say now that the Patriots made a big mistake in getting him. He's not going to be the every down. You -- kind of backed the Patriots thought that they might be drafting when they brought him in you know 23 years ago not it's not working out. And part of it is because they can't keep him on the field he's not durable. It that you keep him on the field we get a better idea whether or not he could -- kind of back I don't see it did you should only what you see it. So should the bring -- like Shaun Alexander. I don't know that Shaun Alexander is the answer because of his previous injury problems. Boy you know what if you can get you know I still think they feel like they have enough. On the roster right now between. Anymore us in LaMont Jordan. And certainly. Kevin Faulk. Even without Laurence Maroney now. It another one of those guys goes down you might see them make a move something simple you might. I could certainly see that. Because -- that they they just let go Kyle Michael yesterday so your depth -- just a little bit. Less. In the last 24 hours because they released Kyle ankle. So if somebody does -- don't an injury you might see that. It's conceivable. I just don't know that it's entirely probable. On speaking of the depth and speaking of running backs what's going to the Patriots locker room from earlier today. And let's get some of the thoughts on the bye week you know where things stand from Patriots running backs anymore it's."
[1:18:23]" On being ministers Phil. You know that is you know good or bad assists in mindedness to schedule yet again -- lost that the the -- before the -- If -- Well I mean honestly voice that I think it's I think it's. A bigger Duke. You know he doesn't use to us. You know I don't think -- somewhat eroded it -- we. You know you don't get -- to. Higher up for winners to down after a law. Suits. It's a lost -- citizens the cars we have wouldn't. -- things. You know like citizens you know we have to humans you know and we got a -- this we can we -- you know afford out of next soaring. And that's you know do this you know assume we know Lawson knows this term move on me on the things back. It. Yeah I would assume Sam I think you know no win or -- to -- I -- you know I don't think you know there's there'd be any more are for the next day after wins -- You know sending with you know the situation we're in house -- we have not lost before the -- we can. -- that either way it's behind. I don't know expects. Taking advantage of the bye week extra. -- rest obviously -- practice time with the -- But it's maybe Luke -- the rest factor in. Is coming you know they get a little more about our legs and Harrison. Places to Stevenson -- more in the studying -- them as well."
[1:20:06]" You look at teams in the weekly Indianapolis. And that they haven't really gotten around here it's all this season. -- how can catch. -- and going out to eat and you. You know it. Immediately start well put some cases."

[1:21:03]" Sammy Morris from the Patriots locker room. Earlier today visiting with members of the Patriots media and given you his thoughts on. What things stand at this point we'll get to a Patriot running back Heath Evans coming up just couple moments. I'm really into some of the emails that have come through here and some interest -- thoughts. It's the only find out where we have here. Here okay you we were. This from now also comes from Mensa in the Bronx -- again thought about the quarterback and he said that a week ago I wrote in to talk about bill being stupidly stubborn. Like signing a proven quarterback and now we're facing the reality of losing games. I have been many times that how Matt -- was not starting quarterback this team but on the quarterback that's I had mentioned. Again and I mentioned it today eventually yesterday came -- I think the Patriots should do something bold. If not brash on offense and maybe go out and get a guy like Jeff Garcia. That maybe now's the time to actually considered doings on the like that they give themselves a little to jump start so along the lines of today's question of the day here in the program. Are you panic king or do you preach patience panic patients. That's what I'm asking you guys to answer to meet today. And along those lines and kind of I guess I'd have to say panic on all his patience on these events. If you couldn't. Do both. In and I think a couple of other emails beavers here are realizing the same thing. Phillip an overcoat nova Scotia says -- bye week fourteen of fifteen the Patriots know they have no chance that the playoffs -- what what kind of football team we will see from them. Will they be more experimental playbook I haven't lost hope I'm just thinking what is. I think you'll see a lot sooner than we fourteen or fifteen. If this. Team's struggles and for some on to explain reason goes three and six. You know as they get into the second -- the you know I think you'll see more and more people and I know the PFW guys were talking a little about this earlier today. Guys like Kevin O'Connell particular get time. Legitimate time at quarterback and some of the younger players that they do have on defense certainly. Will see a lot of time you'll see hopefully. Shawn Crable -- get him off inactive list and you know more of -- gotten in in things along those lines you'll see -- hopefully -- you know do we lease and will heights. In the secondary as well. And why wouldn't you. Because you still have to feel like even though you're getting these younger guys in there that you had the nucleus. And we've said this all you have the nucleus here in this team. Even still on the contrary now to where you can still be competitive. That -- two with three years at the very minimum within the league and if you bring back helping Tom Brady next year. No reason we can't read it right be right back in the fold in competition inning connect in contention. I'm from getting back again. So yeah I think they would be experiment with a playbook but I think more so than me experiment and play book and indeed be experimental with. Personnel. Let's. Gotta read this from the shock. Hoops has changed. It's John but that's okay I was listening to your broadcast from yesterday I was unable to listen to it. And I like what you're saying what would what I would do about his abilities I would bring in Garcia and cut Cassell. There -- a lot of things that Garcia could bring to the Patriots it would humble them so that all they all know. That no one's job is guaranteed and they would want to fight harder for their jobs. I think part of the problem is now they know they can say oh we're doing bad things would have great. Well I don't think. I don't think I'd go that far shot what I would do is -- bringing Garcia but I would not cut Matt Cassel. You'd you know I realize that neither one of these guys is going to be around next year this is simply wanted to Dillon for both guys. Palm but I don't think I would cut -- Unless he asked for his release because if Jeff Garcia doesn't do what you selective -- on the show may -- that's that may be at that time of the season then it's kind of like okay well we're. Three and seven or whatever and maybe assembly Kevin O'Connell it's an experience with Seattle -- trial by fire experience by fire like it is necessarily a good thing. For rookie quarterback. I -- advocate bringing rookie quarterbacks along slowly in this league. I mean after all media had good career at San Diego State did a great careers San Diego State. Subject to conjecture. He also says here's what Garcia could bring to the line they Cassell does not experience. Does not -- experience ability watch downfield while moving in change of playing on the spot. From watching -- on Sunday it was not impressed with his passing game he did great running but the problem is he would have -- open it didn't see it so we took off -- Part of what why I spoke about in the opening -- I think he's relying too much on the checked off. With a check down move as opposed to going whose primary. Target. And he says Brady also always saw someone Hollywood dropping back the next thing is I think mark would pick up speed again. And Roger you saw the first two weeks Moss was not that fast on his feet. And I think knowing that he can get the ball from an experienced quarterback would make him pick up in his step again. Thanks thing I would do is to put some fear in the offensive line with you going to sign one or not his start talking to some other opens -- lineman in teams about their -- he -- some of them think their job is not secure. Probably do that. Every day that he sensed this follow up to that -- by saying I think. The Daunte Culpepper may be better off than Jeff Garcia. And in the event that my email before but I think what his previous stats and a sub par team like Oakland last year they may be pretty decent with a lineup like Randy Moss Willis walker and it wants. As for the people who say Bruschi being too old not strong fast and uphold these fans which is having a bad game last week they will step up. There was C Bruschi -- far down and get up and hit the running back he was fast and strong and a bad day but it was having a bad game like half of the Patriots team this. -- we think this in two separate issues in the one. Daunte Culpepper frankly Jacque is not the answer Dante has no movement left his knees have and they have left him. He couldn't move into the pocket can move up the pocket he can move laterally. Running the ball as this Patriots offensive line is unfortunately apparently forcing their quarterbacks to do. That would be a death -- Down to Culpepper is not the answer his career has come and gone and -- a lot of punishment. He would not be the guy you that there's somebody at least was still some mobility in that regard Garcia at least still has some mobility. More so -- optical no doubt arm would Randy Moss like to see improbably. But I don't think you're going to sacrament is everything to make Randy Moss happy here. As far as Bruschi being too old I agree with -- there I think that was an aberration. You're actually right. Taken for a down and getting up and hitting the running back a couple of weeks ago pretty good move show that there was -- whole life some life left in the old guy so to speak. Personally that he. So you know I just think it was a horrible rotten stink in week. And I prefer to preach patience. With a deepens as concerned as opposed to -- panicking when the offense is concerned. -- let's get back of the issue the Patriots offense and let's hear from out of the Patriots running back inside the locker room today with members of the Patriots media theory is Heath Evans."
[1:28:39]" Let's just hasn't happened very often. You know good thing is -- games over going to buy we've proved correct mistakes and you know get better hopefully with this. We call will be at that there. Is no. Harm and -- this why would you doubt we've done something around here for a long long time. We've been coach same way we play the same way we try to response and so. Nothing's going to change you know keep him Cardinals football. Angel who come out on the winning side most of them -- the CN FL we got it handed to listen. You know what yes probably yes it is it. We knew that could have -- on practicing preparing. We try to coach the way we're coached. Is -- the NFL parity in the league is very middle and now. I don't need a reminder of that but that it happened -- we'll get better removal."
[1:29:30]" What is the -- on grass way in the film I've only time. Cup. You know blown."
[1:29:38]" I don't know we'll get on the player and coach bills coach and I think we followed his lead and we always in the points up some ground so obviously -- practice hard today and I try to get better today in the will soon BS -- tomorrow. -- yeah. You know -- I'm not sure I know there there is it that we we struggle and so I'm assuming as every other week it's going to be. What word we fail. What we do good let's get a mixture of the two and try to get better what we've been through that and try to get better what we really struggled so. This can be a bill -- to practice -- can be hard -- can be physical it's can be so awful probably conditional -- at the end didn't and that's the end of it we'll get better. Whoever we're competitors in coming it'll ever want to that's. -- despite the way this went down so it's a bitter. Taste that we haven't had a taste too -- runners so you always want to get back -- play the same time. You can take all like that you can learn a lot from and I use this. You know extra seven days to to benefit your team so hopefully -- or spotted the coaching in the corrections and we'll get better. Yeah well that's always been -- here you know. Wonderful out of place of them a lot of things some weeks a lot of play time so we could not so. My job was to try to play lower amount there and on the continued trying to do that."
[1:31:17]" That is Heath Evans Patriots fullback. From inside the locker room earlier today. -- Gillette Stadium so -- you know little bit of a snapshot listen -- to a Logan Mankins. Ending his play and his teammates play on the offensive line coming up a couple of minutes is Willis defensively. From a -- Thomas. While before we wrap up the program today. -- to the issue of quarterbacks. Because we've talked a little bit about that here today and some of the emails that come and it's suggested that and you know we've advocated for maybe a little bit of a switch in in the Patriots game plan more quarterbacks. Are concerned as well. There are a couple of teams -- get. While there are making some moves at quarterback as soon as this week. Now we just got to mentioning that. Derek Anderson is staying put. As the starter in Cleveland Brady Quinn is not yet. Ready to move him at least Sosa's Romeo Cornell. But there are a couple of other teams that are making moves quarterback and we mentioned this yesterday. For the first time but Marc Bulger is now. As the St. Louis Rams starting quarterback and of course the Rams for future Patriots opponent in fact they'll be up next you know. In October. For the home game two home games for anyway. So the Rams -- future opponent and we don't know basically who will be quarterback then for the Rams. Com but Bulger is going to go to the bench and 38 year old backup Trent Green at. Is going to start. -- Bolger is the Rams highest paid player. But head coach Scott Linehan who is certainly as much on the hot seat as any coach. In the NFL right now this team win three this year. And Linehan. Is eleven and 24 in his third season as head coach Ramsey doesn't turn anything around. So. And even last week I remember -- in this. -- a -- last wishful much of Rosenblum who's the new owner and Albert. And -- it's going to have to be made or that changes are certainly going to become even though it was his mother's dying wage Georgia Rosenblum former programs. That letting him be giving -- given this pool here in order to right the ship in St. Louis. Well apparently son chip. Is not ready to be that patient and is not ready to adhere. To his mom's apparent death bed wishes and that's. No that's exactly you know that's what happened. -- So anyway come. Trent Green is in. And I saw where on and if it was in the network. Marshall Faulk feared for Trent Green because of the Rams overall situation. Which fought being in the former -- standout running back himself he feared for Trent green's health and safety. Just because of his issue with them. A concussion that he's gone through over the last few years. You know with a concussion the course knocked him basically. What we all what was into retirement he severed when he was a member of the Kansas Chiefs a couple of years ago. Penalties in the back in St. Louis he's. Back behind an offensive line that's having its own set of problems. So. But at -- green is backing these from St. Louis. Remember it was he had not Kurt Warner who was supposed to be that starting quarterback on the 1999 Rams team and of winning the Super -- year. Signed as a free agent after. You're in Washington Goodyear -- Washington previous season was. More of course was thrust into the starting role after green had a season ending knee injury that your during the pre season and move. Kurt Warner's you know legend I guess was made from here on out so green -- nor was guys that just you know. Pretty talented guy that we've seen that but he just has not being in the right place right time and who knows that this will be at age 38. But the Rams are making a move it quarterback in it is now Bulger out in green at an age 38 who is in. The other move. That is being made here is it looks like Kansas City Chiefs course the week one opponent for the Patriots are gonna turn two. Former Patriot back -- Brock oh excuse Brock Damon Huard again. The -- lost twelve games tomorrow after their own three start this year. -- Herman Edwards said earlier yesterday that Damon Huard would probably. Get the start Sunday when they play the Denver Broncos. -- Tyler -- and he's been getting a lot of playing time in Brodie Croyle is absent with a shoulder injury I don't think it would probably appealing to start going back to the bench. Today the word is is that he hasn't definitively. Changed from that velocity although he says is quoted as honestly I'm a little bit more. So it looks as if Damon Huard. Could be back in a quarterback. What McKenzie achieved and -- the -- back so you know. A couple of teams that are oh and three clearly they're pushing any button they can't. In an effort to try to get things back on the right track early skipping perspective. Some semblance of respectability. Simply because. -- three. And they got to do something to shake it up I don't have defeated to quite there yet and overall picture again -- kind of reiterate here where. I think they could make a move. That would be conceived as a panic button type move on offense they brought somebody else and at this stage of the game. I I think patience is what needs to be preached here on the defensive side of the ball even in light of this completely abysmal performance we all witnessed. On Sunday against the Dolphins and that was that's been our question of the day still a couple of minutes left for you'd get your thoughts in on the -- Panic or patients. Which are you preaching for this Patriots football team and why. Web radio act Patriots dot com that the email address here's one from William. Who says here's John why I'm not panic. Number one -- two and one they're not -- win three. Based on it's to deal with three stories that I just told here on number two it is week number three. Actually week four but who's counting and number three with the Dolphins. Everything weird is that Dolphins don't. Just mean the really old stuff like losing to issue was perfect Dolphins 72 on in the Patriots are awesome and the Dolphins suck yet they beat the Patriots. I think -- get -- the general gist of what you're saying the Dolphins don't appear to be as good as the Patriots and yet they want the game so yeah. There is truly some weirdness going on here. -- by and take your verbiage. I think I'm supposed to take it but thanks for the email bump. Yeah is just some some different stuff going on that you're not really prepared for that I think everybody now is going to have to prepare them so -- Patriots physically the rest was probably mentally. And though once we realize that it's not the same all AFC and certainly not the same -- AFC east -- the Patriots have been. You know pounding in his submission the last few years once we realize that it's not that -- longer than. Maybe be easy for all bestowed to him you know come to -- to what's going on -- right let's go back and said the Patriots locker -- A guy like Logan Mankins can come to grips with. You know the realities of this week in. Where he thinks things could turn from here here's Logan Mankins would Patriots media and said the locker room."

[1:49:36]" There's another quarterback available in the NFL lose this thing. And another potential possibly for the Patriots if they decide they want to -- this room no Jeff Garcia did not get cut. By the Tampa bay Bucs although he has been relegated to the third string role in Tampa. I'm not sure why they're holding onto improbably out of spite more than anything else based on what I've written bird. But today the Saints released quarterback Joey Harrington. And they did this holy (%expletive) days after signing. I don't know what that means. I don't know that means if it means that a Joey aged just not a fit for us or. -- we -- cheated out of you what we wanted to herb Jolie you got no prayer plan here I don't want to make but five days -- in the Saints of letting go. I think the real maligned area on Sunday against the Dolphins. And find out what a day with Thomas thinks about it not only.
