[0:00]" He has life from the west coast where San Jose today coaches that we are wearing today. Santa Clara. Enough on my -- home I was going to talk the United a nice win yesterday. I can't tell -- that was great went. -- immediate relative pummeled with. I did very well paid. I'm surprised you guys that come out here are just -- you know it's eighty degrees and that's the Patriots funny enough the forecast for the next. Week's -- and I carried it out of you to -- you guys out there won't happen figured it out -- what they don't allow us out of my house they're afraid. Ever remember -- the -- to recycle and -- to threaten."
[0:41]" You know ever since about it restrictions on fat guys -- the -- programs that provide some seeds to supplies of where I decided to develop these guys right way. Usually you be out so we've -- may be your Libya but that put holly hunter."
[0:57]" They had a good enough."
[0:59]" Good good -- out of I have no room and -- I was just talk a little bit about the -- start that defensively after the first quarter. Certainly the defense seemed to play great can you explain to us a little bit about. How you did have. A lot of these started with a 3443. He gets single -- the defensive lineman nickel dime you were tried a lot of different things with a lot of different personality and what were you actually don't."
[1:25]" Well we've. You know I think -- defensive staff had. You know Federer -- plan and -- the players well prepared for this game they. We use some different combinations on the front or -- premium line to one and you know gave them different looks and you know I thought that overall that. In the passing game. You know number guy's got a chance to play kind of a passing situations Wilhite Wheatley. Dayton Pierre Woods Jarvis Green. Mike Wright got like detonate they really did a good job and then and the guys in the running game petty and draw. Then Ty Warren. Richard. You know those guys -- really did a good job in the in the running game and account with the offensive production -- carded a one dimensional game. There you know I -- third quarter and then in the fourth quarter so there weren't too many runs we're rushing the -- Lawton and we're able play some of those. -- of grouping a little bit more because they can't situation but. You know individually. A lot of players really you know played well and contributed a lot to the -- defensively. It wasn't just that ten or eleven guys it was you know probably well like sixty."
[2:42]" I mean obviously you're doing it based on what they are doing and in the office there running. But was part of the exception or was it just to have quicker guys out here with their passing game or accommodation double."
[2:56]" a boat just -- you know just changeup little bit Glenn -- like you know pitcher heaven three or four different pitchers got a fastball and an off speed pitch and some kind of breaking pension. So you know with more bigger -- out there your you know your little more powerful team especially go to like in -- Seymour and Warren and Wilfork and and then with you know -- some of the other group beane so like Woodson. Thomas and Vrabel and and -- and -- a year ago faster quicker teamwork. In a -- between -- and along with that we had a couple calls that. That Karrie traveled different groups so everything wasn't you know than look quite -- the quarterbacks sometimes Rodney would be. DT sometimes could be closer line of scrimmage sometimes -- a linebacker in. So I think you know identify that kind of figured out who was who was. I was a little -- part of the plan but you know Indiana -- doubt we had a government we -- that element. And we had defensemen and a block it -- in the running game and and the players did a good job of that."
[3:57]" They're really game which -- like there's a couple guys who opened it also."
[4:01]" Over there ever we. You know we -- we have produce on the all -- missed jumping on the other one that. I think that the ball was dropped her a little bit overthrown -- you know Bruce. -- on this is Israel. And -- detection. And then we put down of the red area and encourage try to double move and really quarterback committed had a lot of time on that play and -- around like it's going to run a post then broke back out of that. And O'Sullivan had on that so you know there we had a few plays that. You know work -- play the way we we would like to play him but. You know again going to have sparked the ball Benson and the -- players -- You know there's there's going to be a little bit of that mean go to the game they had -- Second most pick -- any team in the league so. They're explosive team we it is try to keep -- that a little on and I think it's part of realistically think you're going to shut that down completely -- they. You know that is they do it's so much."
[5:03]" That's true the game wasn't wasn't the to have a consistent offense through the stop stop on the -- and committee also and it's a scrambled up on the field of forty god."
[5:11]" But I -- that -- base it upon Madden and you know we got to pass interference on and then you know Meriweather picked on often. Them. You know whether they're quite a few three and out so I think there are what they have some possessions where they ran three or fewer players. So. You know they they got us some and you know we got down a few times too so -- can candidate you know even doubt it'll that our favorite."
[5:37]" Well early on the council -- Randy Moss for a long plate but was that something you saw the would be available to in your scouting yours. It's just. Came up early on the game."
[5:50]" Well I think one of the things we want to try to do in this game -- try to get Randy on their safeties. You know Clements and and a -- supposed. You know very experienced quarters and and pretty coverage guys and what actually happened on that play was there a corner blitz stayed. That brought. Outside linebacker in a weak quarter both are left side Troy Brown and they have Walt Harris who was. Actually played inside and -- nickel back kind of position and they. Ran -- it'd be part of the field and and just kind of looked like on the play they didn't. Quite have but leverage that they needed on the relevant ready -- split. You know split Clements and an error on the play and it meant a great road just. Put up there and you know -- You know I don't think we'd practiced that play against that corner blitzes to be honest with you but. We you know obviously exit against the mother looks than and that's kind of wake him open and Randy in and that you know made -- real real nice adjustment. And you know got out there for you know the huge lift for us."
[7:00]" And they have ruled that Cassel do do that wasn't pre planned -- some -- all without Richard talk about."
[7:05]" Yeah any kind of role yet he -- away from the -- but sure they'd they were in. Well we called under promptly they had their three linemen over there in the in the Ronald linebacker. To try to tie up our back and then fault and then an abrupt or off the edge. Figure in the you'd be extra guy again and in a couple follow that and they really didn't have the -- on the other side of the ball then didn't get up field contain him so. He was able that kind of run away from the corner a little bit which a lot of quarterbacks do that they. This big guy come and they they're sort of -- weight problem that get that extra half second. You know at the Pro Bowl so that's up pretty much what happened on the play."
[7:46]" What about you guys did a real good job of a forcing assault and all the pocket for most of the game or or what a number of players that's something that Phillies -- previously game film that you wanted to do."
[7:57]" Yeah absolutely you know we've we want to try to get him out of pocket and end up but more the Ronald didn't you know once quarterbacks start scramble and -- you're pretty much limit. The passing field you know -- fielder left you know part of you know stop and throw back across field back kind of thing so. We we were trying to do that. We -- troll -- you know he's a quick athletic guy and looked like. Report as we. Know we either were going to get level we're real close together on that we just couldn't just couldn't quite get them in the backfield so. You know such as took an athlete and got a quick as he does but. Indiana I think it affected the passing game and that's that's really we're trying to do was. Disrupt the timing and and you know make him kind of throw it to division play Israel and you know -- time and -- those deep and cuts and and a poster out."
[8:51]" on that challenge on the spot of the ball for the first down did you even have to wait to hear from the guys upstairs. In what you call that these were pretty quickly."
[9:03]" Well I -- it in and out of on the other side of the field try to get a great look at it I'd I'd bought went -- You know was was hit and kind of spun around came down. But look at me like he he definitely had the first down and then when they -- the ball. It now okay up. A little bit short. But it is just seem like you look further Madden. And because it is up to -- got to look at -- and they you know that that they felt like -- for progress was. Up -- that that he can't outcome on that hash mark line and they the spot of the ball. But halfway between. Yard line and and perhaps more so. But I have a yard different but it -- until there was a wide right there today they felt like. That we you know -- gave a little bit more progress and so. That's kind of how that happened."
[9:57]" They may have thought that his knee came down early but he stretched out and see dean an extra for it on. When you what looked at the replicas my first -- was taken but it could tell right out produced. He'd do it with a lot god bako was inspired was driver and a feel what he's when it was getting him. I. On the other hand we're we've watched the Maroney looked like Richard got a bit out of Clausen -- was like probably kindness -- stepped out about losing. Injured it was okay."
[10:29]" Yeah yeah yard I think. Yeah about. And I know which I know which a -- play Fred I'm not sure. You know whether he saw was aware that -- market error or -- but -- it. It's it was a very similar play little on the Kevin and you know he you'd like to pick those up event as it turned out on on Kevin's play. An -- think about last night you know it was only third down we probably would've gone for a fourth down there you know -- You know just a couple of inches so. I don't know really challenged and you know and get down second down most you know that valuable force that. -- to turn down a first down and that kind of situation when in you know you have -- Sweden and the -- for a so. The video I guess it was a good decision."
[11:18]" Tiger watcher and a progression. Matt -- he threw the ball pretty well yes their looks still looks comfortable in the pocket that does it get a little war. Game plan looks like he's more couples in reading things a little better that what we've just seen on film."
[11:32]" Not definitely I think it's getting better every week of credit think Mets improved every week in and you know our passing game is to get a little bit. Sharper. The receivers and their routes than and the distribution on the patterns it'll look better in the you know timing and throwing at all. You know everybody's worked -- You know spend. As a met or -- you know Tom -- and as a team not just -- but you know -- and entertainment. You know he'd certainly like. Think that. That almost practices and those those games -- Kruger timing your execution then and I think it and it and it should."
[12:13]" Is it is there anything you can do particulars of extra film workers or is there working where 11 with a cold for blower over the that can sort of make up for that lack of reps."
[12:27]" Well you know what I'm sure that's part of it you know just. Knowing your where your teammate going to be and how he's going to you know run the route against certain technique and yet that Paul part of preparation I think whether you're. You know and rookie or for your veteran -- tenure bettered but. You know it and he had a lot of that has come on the field in terms of just you know really. The end especially with the relationship is between the receivers and center in. Aware of the quarterback and but the ball remote location standpoint -- I mean I think all those are part of that. But don't forget -- that's had more reps with -- you know the receivers this year than than anybody. That was even true -- the opening week against Kansas City so. You know obviously Tom had -- Over the course of this career -- three years but. Offer for the 8 season them. -- gun got a lot of reps in practice has got a lot of represent precision regular season games so. There's always work to be done don't get me wrong but I think that you know overall like we saw yesterday were some pretty. You know pretty well executed passes there whether it was belong test them all sort of and the out cuts them off and those kind of things or whether it was. You know those muscles clamped Welker or you know -- he plays on third down. In the screen passes the ball. Watson plays. You know that there was a lot of lot of good throws and it'll also right on the money didn't seem. Very into -- thought -- accuracy was it was excellent."
[14:01]" I think you'll get a kick out the fact that on television. On the direct snap play to -- fault. It was it was mentioned that they stole a play very Miami Dolphins from a from a week ago."
[14:14]" And -- you know it's interesting that before out."
[14:17]" All I'd never seen that before -- it's amazing and yet I get a kick out of that. But why does it work the whole flawlessly every single time different quarterback this -- so -- obviously why does it work so flawlessly every single time."
[14:33]" I wish I -- Oakland on on the you just -- there was Duke play as well executed. You know ten -- could snap and you know Kevin got a good read on the play Logan Mankins made you know people walk on the on the nose and then you know bounced up the spikes. And you know -- to kind of ran off safety coming down don't. It was could block -- by a light Mankins and then -- and a point protection. And a cut off walk on the backside -- you know Yates and -- there. And and if not all bad you know mennonite Catan. You know table though this squirt through there -- goal of."
[15:11]" triggered couple times but left the president was in a real nice comfortable ball. Is Matt -- on the same cadence just because you to get comfortable or does he changeup which caters for. A frequently."
[15:22]" Yeah you know we I -- we definitely Trajan. Fred and you know we try to. You know make make everybody aware. The quarterback and end when we're home but it's religious matter what or on the road who controls occasions with you know -- head Bob and and the lining in all that. So. But you're right we are noted that there is that he didn't and we certainly did watch film that. There. They're get a little jump. At times I don't know whether he was you know mcdonalds -- and or whether he had a two B or. Whatever in -- we gotta be conscious of and he certainly hard enough. You know when the offense has the advantage on that count that. Had a decent speed off the ball and that's -- can make it real difficult so we've. Gotta make sure that we protect that advantage and and you know keep them off balance that their cadence and rhythm that are. You know hand gestures or pit box or you know whatever it is so that's something will will take a pedal you know work on this week."
[16:27]" What do you implement. Those those when I was playing. -- I've read the quarterback slips -- you get the coat on while I'm. I practiced that industry is coming from -- even. Tell us you can read the quarterback that if you're not careful what you wanted to watch and call. Them. You know they can read it one on one on 212. They can do that they didn't follow through neutral with continue to draw it up well that's -- How how you gauge the bill overall play -- at the line 14 with who's who's here."
[17:02]" I -- I think overall. Steve it's been. You know pretty good -- they've obviously can always be better and you know I know there's a tendency probably by. Some people fans or media or whoever. -- look at one number factions say well that's you know that's all the offensive line and so it's good then the lines grade and it -- there's more sacks than at fault lines fault of course. Think we all know that that's that's a pretty an accurate statistic but you know we've we've been able to run the ball with some consistency. And -- saw yesterday one of the best things we did was we made some tough yards you know -- certain ones in the you know -- two run on the two yard line in is critical situations and you know those little plays made it really count part of the other it'll run the ball when you you know -- when he got to run. Or like in the Jets game where a little you know run out the clock in the fourth quarter. With you know Oman and in some of those around so. There -- tickets it's been pretty good. And we had a little village lit their pre season when white was Wheldon and nick played a little bit left tackle in effect right tackle -- good -- right guard. And you know now we've got a little bit more -- You know some some consistency there. These five guys plan you know just about all Sampson in the first four game but it. You know there's always room for improvement in and we can we can still do things better -- we to protect better we can run block better. And you know we can help ourselves in the passing game but I. You know not not hold the ball quite as long by getting open quicker aren't they get rid of -- But in overall I think it's at a pretty did you."
[18:54]" young Buffalo born kicker. How far you think he should okay and I'm giving up 49 -- overlooked like a group of six and how strong -- his legs produces."
[19:03]" Well he you know he kicked a sixty article in that direction in pregame warmup threat -- Honestly I think that. You know distance from sixty. I don't think that would about a probably what about a problem that Caracol archaic equipment that Brady but. You know just the what the problem there is committee is is trying to sixtieth 62 your pupils and that kind of thing. If it's the last play -- half. That's one thing by the -- just a normal situation. -- just to give up a lot of field position. If you know if you Trai Essex the murder and into mr. midfield then you know -- given up half the field right there and that's. You know but that's the risk you take so I could -- have no problem -- it's. Well you know with a six point lead. You know hell -- far -- in -- pressured into punter and kicker to make one of those with the percentages are. No matter how good your kicker -- those percentages drop them and -- kind of feel positioning given up on the other the other."
[20:10]" Every set all that building make decisions a little bit differently this year that you would last year."
[20:15]" He's not a good you know I know I don't think so I really don't Clint. I think that you know for four years and as Steve made a lot of big -- Force and you know -- a situation. And -- feel like for whatever the reasons. You know we're gonna kick this. I've found out there I've always felt confident that he was going to make it and you know there are other times where we've gone forward you know on fourth down. -- Because there's different. Strategic situations or. Whatever the case might be and those are decisions not based on whether I have confidence and their kicker have a lot of confidence Steve. There's just based on the game situation and what you know we felt like was best. In that game at that particular time no you know that's always subject to the second guessing him understand that but that's. That's really what you know what it's based on not. But you know whether whether I think the player can do this job we sent them out there but I think he could do it then we have somebody else don't care."
[21:21]" The that you as a strong Slater on anything you're."
[21:26]" Well of any kicker I've had. Yes."
[21:31]" He's the average how many -- going to pick up the kicking ourselves just YouTube but fetal position the difference in the position most of these games has been remarkable because. You've had some good returns and he just you know as people it's been a lot of weapons."
[21:47]" Well I think culmination of -- look good kicking in which it is -- to speak to compete but he also has good -- all and that's. But I think our car our coverage spent good you know -- And you know some our coverage players taken and Izzo and knowing what your wasn't I didn't. Meriwether and Slater and will play in -- knows 'cause you know has done that not a good double cover him as well and so. When you combine those two forces then you know you it up we'll play like we had yesterday were we. You know make a tackle on the thirteen yard line and you know put him 87 yards away -- that's. You know defensively we we've had very good field position in all your."
[22:33]" Defensively the play your linebackers. You always had very active linebackers. Seems like -- they've done a fairly good job sharing you've moved. -- was -- character guy who's getting oh or more reps than most people thought it would."
[22:49]" Well I think that's probably true -- but think that you know carries. One of those players that. Has have some opportunities for playtime and has made plays when he -- those opportunities and that of course is -- the more opportunities and I think yesterday it was you know good example on. And but he spent doing that you know kind of through the whole. It all eight games for preceding games in the eight regulars -- games and the fact he's been durable he's been he's there every day he he works party gets better every day's market. And he's he's personal player so he's he's made plays and pass coverage foresees that plays a Pulitzer is a pleasant running game. And it may play on special teams for the tackle that he had there. On -- from on that list kickoff return with the guerrillas -- in Russia the blocker made it faculty. But it rushed well yesterday and you know they're really had to -- and pour out of the gate there at the end. You know Gary is doing their job Russian of these. A cover well medical good tackles. Like on the you know and a running game and so. You know in these these just seems to be able to better each week -- as he keeps playing better -- get more often."
[24:11]" I stuck about Sunday's game the San Diego Chargers who wanted to Miami. Came out with a loss yesterday. No Shawne Merriman how different is their defense now. Without --"
[24:25]" Well -- I think it's too much different Glen date they still do dissent letting and they."
[24:33]" It is much pressure on the quarterback."
[24:36]" And it took -- quite a bit you know they took a quite a bit. I mean have a good they have a good front and an eight and like pressure a lot -- control extra go to break five. Break. -- there's a lot whether it's you know the outside linebackers or -- off a slider to the middle order. You know whatever is -- accommodations so there's they -- five probably. You know 40% of the -- of -- they have a good front and and they're aggressive and I think the big thing on the pass rush as we all know is. If you don't they got a pass with a lot easier Russians and in a San Diego. Hasn't really bad in that situation too much over the jet game where they've been ahead. And you know that's significantly ahead were you know the team just got it back control the time they -- of them. In other down fifteen not -- against the Oakland. You know behind last week they've. -- heavily against Carolina that was kind of back and forth game. So you know -- I think that's evident that pass rush. Like it was any teams just you know -- along your region. And scoring then then when the situation score was put you on that kind of a mode it's it's a lot easier --"
[25:55]" How. I'm off -- is an officer I think -- Miami. My -- amount we saw Miami went on a roll would they have so many different weapons in the quarterback is very accurate big strong kid. Period dangers that offers period of the office play. From the past."
[26:12]" They're very dangerous and in. You have the guys that there's been a little more involved an offense this year than in the past and not a pretty element involved in the past but has been Sproles. He's you know he's made some huge plays and not just in the kicking game but. You know offensively whether it's on the swing passes or screens or even Iran you know some of cut that currencies. He's literally you don't -- ago. The distance every time he gets the ball -- Yeah we always felt like that -- to -- we don't Washington with a chip I think Sproles is similar to Washington only faster. You know he's he's got more along speed and you know he's more. -- more got a kick goes the distance. And like Washington he's hard at tackling is quick and you know makes a lot of guys miss but he's. He's he's got tremendous walks beat so."
[27:08]" Just almost and looked fully recovered from whatever injuries was will slow them down."
[27:13]" I think he does Beattie and picking galloped a little bit of a slow start the first couple games against Carolina and Denver. He looked pretty good against. The Jets and then. Last week against Oakland two in the Miami game that. Looks like he's -- with good good power good quickness and a good speed and but that's a pretty pretty tough combination you know with -- Sproles and we have one of those guys and again -- really. They're numbers marked a purple."
[27:46]" Talk about Darren Sproles and we're sort of a special teams. What do you do differently against a guy like him more pastor how much goes into. Obviously get a game plan how you gonna play at but these are guys that get seventh we just like that. Do you play them differently you would with with with most return to."
[28:07]" Oh well it later off. You know I think --"
[28:12]" You know you want to make sure that you you know you don't eat government little space as possible working multiple without way. You try to you know cut down field on and whether that's directional kicking whether it's. You know put the speed player at a particular point -- coverage where you. You hope that he's the first one down in the -- can't get out fighting him not necessarily outside guy -- in effect it was one -- Interior guys and you know say it was easier when your interior guys on the left to kick the ball to the right. And he was able to get down the field down with a two point fifty yard line lead they've they've been peeled off the third of the field that way. So you know there's there's different way to do that in the end I think you want to have. Players out there that are. You know island somewhere you cut down the field should be strictly and then. You have guys that are that are fast and athletic enough to attack -- particularly your safeties. So that it beat even beat -- the first line of coverage that at least you get him down you know hopefully around 3035 yard line and not you know not give -- scores so. In punting game you know you you get two choices really you can either. You know triple -- or hang time on the ball and and get a little distance. Try to cut down -- returned Elway or you know we feel like your coverage is good enough. You know to cover the field against them then. Do the same thing try to kick the ball until corner or aren't a part of the field after the field. And try to you know cut down. I -- lanes where only cover. You know certain percentage of the field resident just you know drive it right down the middle and -- And you know -- a guy like that you know decide on sideline run."
[29:55]" Coach we -- out there about. Two other. Great country and a bottle Ottawa coach have you if you checked in many guys book that that like today it's -- But it market."
[30:09]" Oh. How is that they don't practice."
[30:17]" They don't have an -- shut up -- they got to practice field right next to the stadium and the locker room but weight room and and all that are going to be and it's fine really we. We -- here at the hotel -- and at all that so we just really go over there for practice and and to lift weights and and to change but it you know with a good facilities have my program and you know it's. It should be open on."
[30:44]" How important is that the schedule -- going to keep during the week. How important is -- keeping the that this close to care as you can to a normal schedule."
[30:56]" Well I think everybody have a comfort level and -- to retain you know you know which you do on Wednesday you know which do on Thursday. You know it's due on Friday -- kind of pace yourself and make sure that your under your personal preparation schedule. You know whether he physically listing and or. You know massages. Or. You know whatever happens to be. As well as you know study and first down on third down in the kicking game and you know how you break that down weekly so. Really just kind of like a home game for us -- sounds stupid to say that. It really is it's like we played at home yesterday and we're here we didn't travel we get open you're think today watch the film and breakdown Miami game with San Diego and start game plan it and that will let the players lift weights in the morning and were rated ago. And then Saturday will be a -- game forest where we'll have our Saturday schedule and get on the plane. And -- flight out of San Diego so."
[31:57]" He's coached the game."
[32:00]" Yeah the right to -- trip so. Get to -- that the real benefit of but stand out here columnists. You know on Monday and Tuesday. So that linebacker Sunday night -- in dragon through Monday in. Watching the -- what one eye open and then the other have shut. You know we got a good night's rest -- were alert everybody got a good work out in the morning and you know all the kind of take a little break tomorrow for the players and the coaches will. Do their their game plan thing in and -- and all that Wednesday we should be rated ago. I think when you're on the other end this you know linebackers. -- here. Kind of staggered through Monday and then Tuesday is. You're behind needed to try to scramble to catch up a little -- that you're not. Quite as as fresh as you would normally be on Tuesday and it just try to catch up do all week. I don't like old. Will be experience and hopefully they'll pay off force in the week of preparation since long -- facilities and everything else are good here which I think that it there are."
[33:03]" And I've just -- if it if it does catch up here it's going to be next Monday or Tuesday and you don't play until Monday. So that gives you an extra data -- recover you know coming back."
[33:12]" Right I think gone back well that's exactly right they come back next week that what will want to do is take advantage of that extra day and it just seems that the kind of you know. Recent -- that the west coast trip and then and that kind of have a normal you know normal preparation. Towards like you know -- Sunday game but just you know use that extra day in and pushed all backed them on the."
[33:37]" picked it -- who Padilla. Of the hill and who -- before the team male without a pretty good that."
[33:47]" You know we've only again our our. Through Paris and all that is its really its same little we have in this stadium you know we. The same. -- of the same venues the sixth selection of items and it is just a hotel prepare certain. So it's there's really I don't think guys are pretty comfortable with.
