Play from 0:00[0:00]" Let's go let's -- out how bout another golf and I want to go odd quiet. That they've won here excuse Patriots playbook goes back up combat odds that they've -- Looking down last Sunday's game -- man coverage. And these -- for the great. -- do. Break the rest of the 2008. And NFL's. And some of the points separate between. Our feelings John look on Patriots playbook."

Play from 0:46[0:46]" I'd Patriots playbook for Wednesday -- Patriots dot com radio I'm John brook. It is -- Patriots and San Diego Chargers of course come upon something might. In San Diego California. We'll spend some time around. Certainly looking at the game today and what else is going on around the National Football League news wise is well some interesting -- media coming out of San Diego which it will get too. Shortly but in the meantime Michael for a team. Would normally joined us on Wednesday's. From Patriots football weekly is with us today for a short while before coach Belichick gets underway with his media proceedings out in a Santa Clara. Micah what's going on what went on up here you know Phillip Simmons -- details."

Play from 1:26[1:26]" Well very hot Billick it's like ninety degrees here today. The sun beating down -- getting behind the stadium and it's you know -- eight and it Colts aren't against the greatest who old school college football speed and plate belt school. College vibe that you'd like placed on that kind of get things right. Yeah absolutely outstanding. Yeah but I -- it right now a little bit of a back chops it up -- coach Belichick and come out momentarily and about twenty minutes the world's kind of milling around waiting Latin player availability afterward that it can be practiced that 12:40 Pacific time that's going to -- well have to figure out here wouldn't that be a lot going on today and the next two days as well -- but -- that they'll beat you conditions and Ramirez and see how they adjust to that kind of a different scenario different set up to them the trying to treated. As much as a normal week it's up over the course there are some differences -- practiced on the field staying in difficult so. Not to be in your -- that night so there are some differences but I think overall. I think we'll find it -- we developed -- it seems like it's pretty professional set up and -- it onto it in terms of equipment and all the technology that video technology. Everything they needed here and it's stupid to predict that a so far."

Play from 2:37[2:37]" Well you know we talk a little bit yesterday Mike about them how -- trying to keep this is close to home as possible and make the guys I don't like they were east coast. And I know that the coaches have said several times in fact since the -- the -- Sunday's game in San Francisco. That this game and this week almost had eight. The divisional opponent feel to -- because they played San Diego lot over the last two or three years. And so combined with the -- and the fact that they are staying out there so they would have to go by coastal over this week. I was kind of curious as to what your impressions were number one and number two. One of the players and the coaches said in terms of feedback about this some relocation for a week."

Play from 3:17[3:17]" play achievements in the divisional game aspect because industry people in charge so much and it seemed like every year we want in the regular season than in the playoffs nip and twice last at what's it like dominates the we are they were a lot of personnel and they are a lot of the same player that carried over from last year to you know as far as feedback from players you know so far so good yet if you -- called. On Monday not much player active yet this will be our first -- access. Since Sunday's game but we really don't know I'll. The feeling yet the that you need to panic did you witness in the third -- so but I -- them article other field and Everett can -- chip and that the that it probably epidemic that they you know if you go to the Super Bowl -- uses -- sort of think Houston the week how intent they -- debated over Arizona. As for the got a chance to sort of get -- feel what it's like the practice went home for a week and today and it's impossible spending habits you can probably Italy here -- kind of the same scenario to practice -- policy -- you know using to wait facilities in the weight room you know I think he'll -- you know -- Seymour -- today what -- think about it but I think -- parts -- empathetic."

Play from 4:27[4:27]" Kayla -- a little bit of the news anyway because not too far down the coast where you guys are located. Mike -- reported the Boston Globe and Tom Brady did indeed have his knee surgery do you guys. Know anything further beyond the fact that. Tom did undergo the knife."

Play from 4:42[4:42]" Now that the front and I heard it was really at this morning's sudden news that you hadn't added yet in. We had heard the news that you can appear to have it done to balance and we were all familiar with the newly chosen the doctor. You know I -- I think I mean obviously -- on the put -- particular that is -- that it -- really -- and he -- that's -- the way. Where you can indeed take a look and describe. Recover and recuperate purse and have the surgery and they'll be back on the field -- you ready to go by time can't start up next year -- that's part of the benefit. A player getting early and beat him over the planet on Brady but be more devastating it -- shorter. And he sort of have to make quick explosive -- it would be ready for the next camp the following year at least now having it happened September. He should be okay let's -- April may June rolls around and figure by July training camp he's going to be back out there."

Play from 5:38[5:38]" Absolutely infect other we're talking about. I'm POW progress just short while ago. And -- brought up the point that you know last year -- calls and Philip Rivers underwent a -- you know he repair surgery. And and didn't take him quite as -- to come back and Brady has a longer time to Rico. And recover before mixtures camp starts so. There shouldn't be is always everything goes okay with the surgery which apparently it did everything goes into the -- shouldn't be any problem -- bouncing back."

Play from 6:09[6:09]" On the Sergio -- behind and then from there greater coverage -- all the different but the party gauge a guy like goat Rivers. I think the TGE it was bacteria that it yet still. A week before that playoff game it well he had had some sort of procedure done. Well not their place in the AFC championship and I want it lost its credit -- much out of surgery get out of the way so you know it took every time being quicker. I don't apparently the Brady as much and we'll see how he reacts to it but you know has a lot -- that. This is apparently pretty mild and except use the term obviously. But wild injury in the fact that it. Routine it's -- it happens -- only time -- And it it's only proceeded under prepared to put an injury that it become commonplace after a while not a netted a groundbreaking surgery and it's you know put a cadaver bones and explode completely like this is a routine that players -- yelled out I'm insufferable ligament damage in the -- so. Is that something that they'll really -- about --"

Play from 7:05[7:05]" buildings on the Chargers here number one. Are we going to mention that the Patriots coaches kind of feel like this is a divisional game almost because they played them sometimes the last few years but. Noticed as well what they've said that they've really only pulled out their own videotape in films. In looking at the Chargers as opposed to maybe taking a look at the Chargers. Although I don't know like last week against Miami is a strange TO."

Play from 7:29[7:29]" Well and obviously to beat a long time -- applicable at -- and and impose -- somebody else has an editor of the Miami they do and so many different things opened with a lot at formation now nobody really. It's applicable to this week's game. So in other words I think what I did last year and it Zito and give it back at it it has mostly the same person and a stronger than we do other and absences there in the -- at the -- Well for the most part they've had success against the team they look not only to -- after all spiky controversy they -- in the last several years ago Qualcomm Stadium. And now BR. Move maybe a few months in the playoff victory at Gillette Stadium and -- sleep at the pretty good at bats against in Diego I would typical work obviously -- don't tinker feuding with on the Patriots because there are some new players and Duke and we. We want to make it doesn't fit that other plane right now. And hitting those -- averaging a pretty good amount of points per game roughly about thirty will that left the net but again LaDainian Tomlinson hasn't been the -- cornerback this year I thought he would start to turn the corner. Last week last couple weeks then he had a really. I would say substandard effort against the Dolphins last Sunday it on the -- particularly well in Iraq and all that much either because I wonder that that the whole injury is still sort of bottling in the one that kept the market can't -- these historic up there an agent he is 29 years old now and you wonder if -- reached out wallop it and it's he'd start or not a decline overloading the tackle in the game."

Play from 8:56[8:56]" Yeah I just thought that you know the thing that worries me the most about the Chargers committed that. Last week notwithstanding. Com here's a team that was doing pretty well on offense and yet. LaDainian Tomlinson admittedly has not performed up to par they really haven't had a a healthy Antonio Gates yet. They certainly may not have Chris Chambers would this week as well. And yet ha -- the these guys still seem to be. Plenty potent and so I won already. The largest mistake though they seem like there could be an opportunity here for something different to -- the Patriots up."

Play from 9:33[9:33]" intimidate me -- of their own -- and and maybe even the Chargers big over the woman didn't try to use that they're it you know. If they run a few favorite Pollock and line up behind center and eight -- result -- probably not immediately tried doing it and again and it's here. But the bottom line has not chamber that's going to be difficult to beat the typical want to really. There -- only legitimate deep threat. And I haven't and now win in this game in May be the -- be up in the air out deep in the secondary it's really going to rest heavily on Thompson's older. I'm not sure what you gonna do against this team it has -- pretty became the -- the past and then there have been some moments pretty haven't been so effective -- Actually that balance here I -- We look at this schedule this season you know tighten the -- by the game. Went how important it seemed it went -- square there -- depth in the bottom line change according to. Game they are notes -- he'd scored two touchdowns in the next two to even their record. And it kept champions but in Miami it has surprised when they lost -- as well for the top two and three. I really thought about getting in talent they get out and in the yet unions on a couple of times and has a chance to battle in the ballgame."

Play from 10:40[10:40]" You get the sense then bet that after what we saw Matt Cassel do this last week for the Patriots. And finally -- up long distance with -- Randy Moss but he's getting more and more comfortable. Being thrust into the spotlight role but he's gonna quarterback and maybe. Just maybe the other guys even more comfortable with him."

Play from 10:57[10:57]" I think so I think that happened that would under so acute that it's harder early on and even though he took a lot of reps in training camp it -- so when -- in their real game I think doubt that it expected. Have a -- by that we -- it -- really I think and you never really want that early by playing 1213 consecutive weeks. But what the situation being what was coming up bad -- and penalties chemistry issues opted out of the park but we even two weeks. Yeah on the same page and everybody and it's showed an -- sisco now long putts them passes replay it perfectly executed. And didn't start cease commodity areas where you know maybe it's and this and nobody tried it again later in the corner -- picked off and on the pro ball. -- I applaud -- Trying to protect -- I think though the smart move by the -- keep trying it until somebody stops it but don't which -- Economy that night that they you know -- even more as time goes on and comparable each other and the more capital attempts of deep passes. The better and accuracy will be on the stroke of luck I think that's probably biggest drawback but the fact that -- the -- I think he can but advocates aren't that just. It's an accurate the issue and when you get that settlement squared away they pass and they go on."

Play from 12:07[12:07]" My before what you often though listen -- coach Belichick I'd be curious to know. If you have any questions for him today and what they might be."

Play from 12:15[12:15]" Actually look at the clock that are Brandon Meriweather -- interesting subject -- the credit struggled and last year sort of got ridiculed couldn't agent lead bite me for not the other catch the ball and I areas -- five game. He's made a big impact in optimistic this year have actually turning around made the big plays and we know he worked on the jugs machine during the off speed and took some action magical work on it and they'll. Peter is he what you did there and open against hip pocket and they finally thunder in the offseason. -- and the seems like so all the work paid off."

Play from 12:47[12:47]" I'm very good or Michael what you go to them and then though we look forward to work seeing the responses. Might make you that's my prince he of course hold grudges to second on Mike hold onto second because your wanted to talk to your mom. Mike -- from San Jose or Santa Clara California anyway worthy teams look at their actually working out at San Jose state university. And that's where they're located with training camp if you will today the practices today and then I guess the practice -- in what Mike said. In about an hour or so after that the -- some media obligations on the west coast. And then they will loan. Practice for the afternoon court by the time we get wrapped up will be long since gone here today is little different when you have to. Operate from a different polls as we almost are here. Those of the big things but nevertheless if there's an update will bring it to you. And hopefully the chance chicken with Michael little bit later on as well see if anything. Did transpire out of today's. Media briefing if you will in -- in California. -- Can't get started today. Actually we did get started -- With my -- from the west coast which is always -- where the Patriots -- got to do that right bring up today and and everything that's going on I think it is getting underway for the day out there but. Here's the thing that I wanted to kinda jump on today because. I get the sense and -- maybe this is just mean because we kind of went through this last year you'll recall of course win. That the teams. And the war of words going on it seemed like he came certainly more from the San Diego's side than it did from. The Patriots add an and maybe a lot of that came from the whole spy -- issue and LaDainian Tomlinson basically an elm columnist classless and that kind of so that was going on a course in on the Patriots after the spy -- issue when I'm just lacked. San Diego in the regular season at home and then of course they in the beating them again last year 21 to twelve in the AFC championship game last January. And their words you don't war of words and battled the -- is going on between several players certainly from the featuring the office want the charters and the deep sense of one of the Patriots you know -- Nick Hardwick Richard Seymour. Brouhaha war of words what have you that took place -- as well. And I find it curious guys I really beautiful and very curious. Debt that bad will lingers steal. I don't know that has it -- to do the fact it was the Chargers that got beat. Or if they really still have ill will toward the Patriots -- transport let's hear I mean most deadly triple are taught I think. And of course he played a game. At any level you know that you know you want a game is over you try to put it behind you -- was. For fear of letting it ruin your focus focus for the next game and that's what that's what these Patriots have always subscribed to. This team is always subscribe to that. Theory that phenomenon that that that the practicality if you were on we will try to put the bad things behind you. In no matter what walk like you ran and then you move onto the next issue in the next job that makes this -- that and you don't eventually forget all the bad stuff. But the Chargers really seem to be hanging on here and I'm going to read some that in case you didn't get a chance. On to see it today but this comes from on the San Diego union Tribune again. And there's a story in the newspaper today from a Chris Jenkins. On who does some of their riding along with Kevin AC and we spoke with yesterday he on the program of course if you haven't had a chance to hear that you should download podcast and in listening and because that Kevin had some great things to say about -- franchise very animated very information more informational and in a good conversation with a myth that. That beyond just these podcast and he went. Bomb. I'm looking at some of the comments that are still coming from these guys. In regards to. Having to face the Patriots when this team is to win three the Chargers that is. And they just got whacked by Miami which shocked everybody and they face a very difficult road -- ahead. After the Patriots over the give Buffalo and in the got to go play that game in London against the New Orleans Saints. So it's not an easy time right now to be a charger or charger fan I either. On top of that they've got the -- problems that we've had including of course Shawne Merriman on for the year. So Eddie -- is already -- sampling of what some of these guys are saying in regards to the Patriots right now for instance. LaDainian Tomlinson. Who really kind of started it all in light of spy game a year ago. I'll buy basically called Patriots classless organization and what have. He says. In terms of -- The Chargers trying to get their season restart it heavily with the question posed to him. And what better team to do -- against in the Patriots because of the emotional value of this quote unquote rivalry. Between these two teams. And Thomas says could be good and bad. We know it's going to be a heck of a competitive game we know we've got to fight. All right so a little tepid. Little lukewarm. Right little like a tapioca putting from where Damian -- and right I would six. And here's a guy that. In in Tomlinson probably epitomizes the Chargers trouble right now I mean here's a -- here's a guy that. Is not performing up to the capabilities to which people are used to seeing him and yes he has been bothered by some injuries -- these at a bad -- and -- going aunts and nobody really knows what. Quite to make out of LaDainian Tomlinson this year all the noise that is production is not. Been up to his usual. Production. -- some of the things. What Nick Hardwick there's senator. Said last year about Richard Seymour. Let's see here we go. There's a good -- Hardwick is says he's respectful of the Patriots in general and especially the New England defensive players he blocks. But of course Richard Seymour is the one of these have a problem with his quote was Richard Seymour is the biggest leap I've ever come across and football and it was after. You would call the conference title game last January. He says they've got ten good football player in the team Richard Seymour is a dirty cheap little plot pompous bully. All right now he elaborates. When Jarvis Green is on the field in place of Seymour they have eleven great players that compete how you're supposed to compete. But that Richard Seymour is the biggest -- I've ever played head slapping foot stomping in the -- running by -- throwing punches in your back like he's a bleak. Of course we know that Seymour has. Denied any dirty play. He just said that as you recall last January that he thought hard which comments were -- classless. On and that -- with a kind of handled the any differences on the field with them rather than talk about it in the media. Fact is is that this kind of stuff is still going on. And Hardwick was asked again what he thought about facing the Patriots this week. And these quotas get out that's always a good time. Eyes rolling in the back of the head and walking away from his questioner. So there's still some. Also thanks -- part of the -- And I wonder if you'd think pay. Does that do you think that could serve to. Helped the Patriots. Is it much ado about nothing. Could it hurt the Chargers because they're becoming singularly focused and there. I don't know Patriot. For lack of afraid of the Patriots do you look at this these these games now because they played. Often enough by our coaches standards here it seems like -- divisional game they've already said. Try to prepare for this team this week. Does that help or hurt does that give you an edge and again you always look for an edge where even get it. Could you give the Patriots an -- I don't know. I just I found it curious that. The media stories began this week about this quote on quote. Rivalry of words between the two sides in. What is because they played some meaning from football games over the last couple years. And the Patriots have largely had the upper hand of the games that really counted. Me you know let's face it to twelve games last two years have been did not well for the Chargers when it comes to play the pats. Curious. Curious. Hum. Here's another guy you know. You know will LaDainian Tomlinson went on to say. A little bit to ally -- front of the offending players at midfield. -- after their playoff victory year before last. -- and down. Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips also was one of the ones that you were classless. In reference to the Patriots. And Tomlinson even said again this week that he's that -- Shaun Phillips will have a grudge against that team the rest of his career. And I'm wondering if you kind of find this. Curious and let it affect the Chargers have so many other things going on with their football team problems injury what have you. That their focus. Is now kind of students seemed to be game now homing in on. They're disdain. For the Patriots and for the Patriots players. Does this. I guess here's here's a question for him. Does this then. Turn into the age that may be the Chargers needed an effort to. You know gain a bit of an advantage against New England for the Sunday. Could -- the Patriots in don't play the whole psychological thing. To their advantage and then some against other teams. -- the -- be trying to do the same to New England in this particular instance. Accounting so all the -- might golf clothes -- their guard candidates at the San Diego Chargers need to take care. Of the San Diego Chargers. Which also I was up in interestingly ended because most the rest the other the the story the article and we want to together in the locker room had to do with the focus on the rivalry with the Patriots and how could be coming at a good time simple because the Chargers beat an emotional kick in the pants. So that's how they're kind of looking at it from the San Diego point of view and -- like to know how you look at it from your point of view. Going into this game it's a big game is no doubt about it. There's no doubt about it but. I sense now that there's an opportunity now for the Patriots. You know the Chargers are a favorite going into the game we probably should be it is their own game parole. I don't know to be too many games Patriots even their current state will be favored on the road this year don't know. At this stage in just don't know unlike a year ago or we didn't know. But because of this I'm sensing an opportunity I think for the Patriots. To win this game on Sunday. -- you know certainly if if things break out the way they do. -- each and every week you know this team has an opportunity to win but he kind of thought you know looking at this two game road trip for the get a chance go back home -- like -- The San Francisco -- really important because there's a team that probably little lesser quality pagers and take your business and win that one. Because you gotta feel like the city -- going to be imminently tough. Very hard to win. I think most of us thought San Diego probably win that game at Miami last week in what they do they go on the blow and then we scored ten points and losing it. So this puts a little bit different face on it and now some might say well the Chargers could be. Maybe have the backs against the wall and -- just described. It seems to me that they're beginning to sort of try to create that psychological. Edge for themselves. The media -- in the locker what have you because they're trying to drum up some of this disdain some of the hatred for the Patriots based on the previous performances. Well. -- kinda look at that a little bit differently. I'm thinking that. Maybe if the Patriots stay focused on the task at hand. Maybe they can continue to take some chances and you know continue to bring along Matt Cassel continue to put down the field will be elected it was Randy Moss last week and you know continue to find a way even if -- running back by committee to create some opportunities and keep it out of my hands. Our Philip Rivers and company that this Patriots team can do to San Diego this next week what they did to San Francisco last week. I don't think I I did not thin
