That they've won fair -- it is Patriots playbook got back on combat on pit being on an error and truthfully. Breaking down last Sundays game -- man coverage. And please give credit for the great. -- do. -- and the rest of the 2008. NFL. And some of the fun stuff in between. Now here's John look on Patriots quite well."

Play from 0:41[0:41]" Welcome inside the playbook Wednesday on Patriots dot com radio my name is John wrote asking that now. To a come back home well there are technically. They're getting ready to. Play at home to let that part time about a month when you played Denver Broncos. This next Monday night. With the the team -- kickoff -- Monday Night Football and as always on Wednesday we welcome into the you know into the -- Michael Redick from POW. Mike what's happening today."

Play from 1:10[1:10]" Today John we have a couple of guys from PUP back in practice Steven Neil Oliver -- the clock has started on them so. Yeah possibly get in and help on the offensive line at the big news out of Foxborough today yeah and I think that it even came open yesterday's conversation as well I've said this -- along -- that. Maybe the Patriots. Offensive line in adequacy shall we say at this point time of the season. Has something do with the fact that they -- A guy like O'Neal's presence on the office -- line because via criticism that he can bring in. It was just kind of a glue guy anyway you know eat he didn't do you know any -- two -- great but the guys seem to be very comfortable with -- and we all know. How value that is for an offensive line to be in sink in when he is a part of that puzzle I think this line is more instinct."

Play from 1:56[1:56]" Well the biggest thing to me that even you're very good run blocker they've had a hard time part of football and that would be a big gas and I think affiliate -- a nice job filling in but I think at times. When you have players who are primarily backups and you over expose them they eventually are going to hurt you. I think that's the case in this situation right now I think the casual struggled right tackle. And I'm not sure if -- changes can be made there but he wasn't at practice today we don't have we have the injury report yet soul will -- mark mentioned that one at that come out. But I'll -- a lot of experience in the league and primarily last three of four years playing right tackle. I would be surprised and and Paul and I agreed on this if there's a wholesale change on the right side of the line come Monday night it's."

Play from 2:39[2:39]" Possibility -- you know what and I think I think a lot of fans would probably welcome -- sure sure I -- the pass protection has been great and they -- on the football so well -- with the with the -- is not working so perhaps this is -- time -- change it's time to -- we can get some -- things in the -- totally agree -- that that's. One thing that's certainly I think that appears to be at this stage. Correct doable barring injuries now of course there are the things that may not be as remarkable and I know there were several guys missing from the media portion of practice today when they're not."

Play from 3:09[3:09]" Well as there was one of them Matt Light was out was not out there Jarvis Green in addition to doubtless Kelly -- Eric Alexander. And I believe is Juan Wong from final here. They were having guys they brought back -- price. On the practice. So I mean it that there are changes that are going to be mean yeah I'm not sure the health status is of these linemen that we you know Italy eat much when they're out there we don't know yet to get the injury report. But -- Leiter has or her. You have to make changes at tackle and possibly -- guys around. -- all the usual stuff that you John I mean Eric Alexander has -- for awhile so Kelley Washington. And added bring back -- price on the act on the practice I don't know if they've kind of changed there with them. Well with Benjarvis green house or running back -- which guys lot of what they do. In all the pans but that the -- situation to me is the biggest problem that that is what what's frustrating the most because you have a quarterback. Who still trying to learn things here and try to get acclimated to having acclimated to being starter. And I don't think he is in the right frame of mind to be able deal with an adequate pass protection. Do we we have more -- or eleven more insight on LaMont Jordan and or what Laurence Maroney at the -- Well Nadal and Marat their today now that they let Maroney isn't very slippery slope I'm not -- what is happening here he talked of having some issues that he deal with than. He did they know it's not an injury it's not the shoulder injury though it -- believe there's something else going on with points Ernie or not quite sure what it is. And he was an act of obviously on Sunday night. And at this point I would not be surprised that he's an active on Monday as well. LaMont Jordan the situation there appear -- here as well he's out there on the practice field again today at least during our availability. At the art practice did not play last week. So that's another day situation they could be in a position where once again they go to a game and their running backs Sammy Morris. Kevin Balkan Benjarvis green now."

Play from 5:07[5:07]" Right. Based on on some of the things that I read this far it was my at least impression. That Maroney. May not even been in the locker room was even in the locker room today no. Okay. There's some battles going on in."

Play from 5:22[5:22]" I think so I think we talked about it for quite awhile at the end of PFW in progress and and a lot of things that we throughout there -- confidence issues. You know maybe he does feel that he's injured or maybe the coach asked pushing in the on the field and you don't want to run you're on a plate -- her. We talked about the difference between being hurt in legitimately injured. There is a different new young -- and -- a payment is injured cannot play is a big difference and we think maybe the coaching staff has question that with Maroney. Desire confidence you know we don't really know but but there are issues that's what you said that that Award issues. We kind of had to take it what it means and and I attended -- confidence -- me personally that there is that if issued a confidence and you know maybe getting hurt how many times over the years maybe he thought he was finally turn in the corner and then he comes into this season he gets hurt right away. Maybe times guy that Beckham becoming ever going to be healthy -- ever going to be able to contribute fully. Annika where not mean their -- human they're all human beings and we we had to -- a -- at times and other football players and in other big strong professional athletes but they are human beings and they go through the same range of emotions that -- like."

Play from 6:28[6:28]" Except they have to take the pounding that you and I don't have to take. Mentally and physically yes yes both both ways and I'm -- pointed it out because I think that's a fact that probably gets lost. On a lot of people watched the -- there's much as much on mental as there is physical pounding on these guys and and frankly this is what I thought about Laurence Maroney from all of from almost day one. I I heard you know through you know might pro scouting contacts in the league. That there was some concern when Laurence Maroney came out a university of Minnesota. About his all rolled her ability there was no question great talent great speed he had the physical makeup to be an elite back in the NFL. But. In it was a rather large but in this particular instance. That they just. Apparently it was either during. You know that the testing or something during the com bias or what have you. At that led people to believe that he is psyche was fragile and that if something goes wrong he's liable to get off the track and I get this from a couple not one but two very good people -- a lot of inside knowledge and NFL scouting circles and from day one I thought that this is going to be and if he picked it at best for the Patriots. And I have to admit I've been one of people that's been hammering on Maroney the most people who -- this program know that -- hammered on Maroney from the start. Because I simply believe it's between his ears. And I just I've just not convinced that there's an injury that should be serious enough to keep him off the field and yet he seemed to have convinced and so that to be okay."

Play from 7:54[7:54]" Well you know I agree and agree with you and it turned that yet there is a lot going on between the years but I also wonder why. We talk but the big thing with him physically is his inability to hit the hole hard to run straight ahead and at times and criticize him for Dan back there are trying to make the big play -- time. So I don't know what the issue that I'm not sure how the -- connect. Yeah I think even if he has -- issues -- confidence but wise he's changing his approach and and not an in staying away from what clearly not working. What what is the connection there. You know one man knows this so many questions a lot of speculation to -- and it -- thought I I feel like a slippery slope because we really don't know exactly what it is."

Play from 8:37[8:37]" And we should probably in all honesty we need to be as players we can possibly beat the guy you know so -- in this regard you know it's one thing the hammer him. At the same time you know hey. If he's -- that I guess we also need to point out he deserves the benefit of the doubt I have no problem come out John's thing you know he hasn't been on the field -- act. And also it's back and he's not Terry has been as productive as we thought it would. That's very back and I don't mind I'd -- and you know Michael I think that's the biggest thing I really think that if we and you know we forget that he had you know three great games -- was at the end of last year and in the regular season where I think we all felt like you know we're going to start the Steelers feel some of the potential that he had. But the course the -- won an unbelievable year last year they stayed relatively healthy. Yeah I feel like I like Brady at quarterback is certainly going to keep the defense honest yet so he had all the pieces of the puzzle working in his direction now that there's some adversity. It's not necessarily working in his direction may -- Maroney justice fragile. As some others maybe he -- everything to be perfect around him and that is what I got from you know a couple of scout friends. He needs everything around him to be -- order otherwise it's not going to work for and I think we're seeing it come to fruition this year."

Play from 9:47[9:47]" Now just wonder if he's capable of carrying the load as number one running back I don't as they did not go to college no I was a guy who's not carries that's right. Is that this is that he could function in. You know that the NFL level that he he we haven't even tried it tried to make an animal won back in -- right right that it did question that should be what the Patriots draft him. They drafted to be a feature effectively drafted to be in number one guy. -- know our replacement if you will as we all bought or you know Corey Dillon. In effect he is only going to arrive and flourished in assist or he can share the duties right and I think that much we have learned through his two plus years -- case and you -- had a backup plan has Medina who could be a number two absolutely. Have to go another -- and that's why the red -- I think I think they felt like they had that was Sammy Morris last year in the -- he got hurt and I think that's one of the reasons why they went after LaMont Jordan this year so they could try in effect to have a solid 12 if not. Three punch. While that that's the thing and I don't know it anymore R LaMont Turin is the guy to be the number two. Does that mean to him to be a change of a factor in the split carries. A lot -- I would want somebody. In Maroney. -- wants somebody as young as Maroney this means -- in illegally when he had Marion Barber."

Play from 11:06[11:06]" But that may not be as it is hard to get guys that -- yeah that's not that's not get a bullet you have to depend on the you know sometimes the traveled veteran that you know it's looking for an opportunity to play. You know for winning organization in the loss have a shot noticeable that kind of thing probably old you know Patriot mantra that they've done for the last several years you know it."

Play from 11:24[11:24]" Typical you know and we talked so much about the running game and Maroney but I've the on the other side of the ball their major big time big time and."

Play from 11:31[11:31]" The first thing I want to ask you about was. They'll colonial the fact that he did actually speak some members of the media over the -- to even though. He apparently waived ever bucket off. After the game on on Sunday night so. Are you at all surprised that he's still the team. Well no I mean you know have a lot of options. Clearly go with the young guys well you know what they put the out there and got beat on a fifty our plate I mean clearly -- wouldn't you rather hang your head on the young guy that a guy like O'Neal who's obviously seen better days. Well I think --"

Play from 12:04[12:04]" from a mental standpoint guys who understand the rookie does and it they're banking on that play some sort of factor. I think with O'Neal -- surprise -- Danica knee jerk reaction to games a couple of guys but -- if that goes on any further -- yeah he's been on academia -- team but. -- he did not even talk Sunday I was not in the home locker room our visitors actually in the walk him in -- side. But any Hart who was there is that you look to look dejected. He wasn't road in the media not the enemy base does not talk. They seem really bummed out about the bad that he a beat. Should be odds that nobody -- not so young he talked today in India -- yeah not a day -- knows knows embarrassing and he feels embarrassed and -- about the -- play a game that was good call by them you know that that that. Andy -- we are you more you know fifty -- out thing that they can throw on a mechanic he'd thrown up in obviously. He'll -- happened today that they keep this he made -- to him you know look happen one game keep -- and a now one game beating me and -- through -- the team. You know I needed a little more or MEI you know promote their part of the week and you happen he can kind of shut things down but. Nickel too much agree with them point a change that he made but you wonder what is it about Terrence Wheatley. In particularly really it really because I thought he was the guy who emerged at a camp as. I've in the start alongside Hobbs. What is it about him that they'll feel is better than -- right now that there is an -- I say they're right but there has -- the nailed. Not that there right and that but that that's what they -- clearly because he's not if he finally get out -- and and defense that you know. Sunday in San -- and a little bit more against San Diego. But you know laugh I I -- they cut. Who was enough Fernando Bryant. But he was the guy I always do the guy that all the photos Lewis Sanders and we wanted. And then you know they waited a week at colonial. -- other players they put on so I mean they they clearly felt they needed a veteran --"

Play from 14:17[14:17]" Well even so with a O'Neal's struggles in the secondary. O'Neal becomes a better player of the Patriots are able to have four pollution that's -- contention as well at least -- the fact is they had no pressure at all. On Philip Rivers on Sunday night we've since come to learn through what what coach Belichick has been talking about in his immediate commerce is that that wasn't necessarily the plan on Sunday and I still have questions over that I mean. This is what we do we kind of second -- this week we second guess a lot that's part of what it's all about your butt. You know if their plan was to perhaps contain the run because that respected San Diego's run. You'd just can't -- any quarterback in the NFL I don't care what team. He hurt you working on you can't let any quarterback have carte -- time they -- even put pressure I didn't think. Officially. I'm Philip Rivers the entire night in and allowed Vincent Jackson to have an all pro day. And and to me that has to be what -- the larger issues overall on this team because of the offense is not going to school or. As much or was much frequency as it did last year. Then you've got to pick up the slack defensively and we've already seen there huge problems on the outside the football as well on his -- put pressure on the quarterback."

Play from 15:27[15:27]" I regulate the explanation yesterday about to -- stop because number one when they -- quit one. Attack on one approach into -- and they are known for switching things up number two after about 45 deep bomb. And it charges are running the football anymore it's time has put things up yet look at okay it's kind of make adjustments what he did not do in this game or the Miami game. How many times yet to -- be on the -- after Ronnie Brown before they -- How many times have to get beat deep downfield and man coverage and -- do something else. Date yet he took Tomlinson out of the game great. We all look it up three touchdown passes to Philip Rivers and in several other long pass plays at a of that to me is not. That not a great at the nation's and it been kind of bothered me that the Nazi any adjustments made because that's what this team is known to -- to go on their halftime or or even on the highlight between drives and figured something out. And way to yeah why are we not seeing these adjustments no idea you know a lot of that has put on the coaching staff which we haven't done a lot of in years past we very rarely come out. Because the teams always been we have become hours at the net that goes that falls on the -- and they're going to couple of it this season where I feel lake. The coaching has called into question and a lack of adjustments in those particular teams those who lost to me is legitimate point where you can start to say. Why weren't just made homer along line."

Play from 16:50[16:50]" I would totally agree -- it now. I don't know if you know this number I'll ask it anyway if you don't the pecking order is in terms of the adjustments does that come straight from. Coach Belichick does Dean Pees had input does he can put her from I think this input."

Play from 17:02[17:02]" From everybody admitted that coordinators. Are able to run their own show and obviously bill has the final say. But we've seen as he's on the telecast snow job Josh mcdaniels they'll they'll tackle gone back and forth you know walk off the field yeah I don't think it was and -- aren't -- Are talking about what to do I mean obviously his template count. Now to to what degree I don't know by somebody has to mean the adjustment has made. And when when bill comes out every time after a loss -- you know it's it's on the coach better that at that everybody. Else not one guy it's everybody."

Play from 17:35[17:35]" Well I think that certainly is something that. Will be very very large two walks on Monday night. Find out how this team if they need to how they go about making in game adjustment because I have not seen one. I cannot think of one if you adjustment frankly that they've made -- especially in the two losses because the two losses have been so overwhelming. I agree in the know."

Play from 17:57[17:57]" And that it is going to be tough Monday because this is a team that typically pass and throw deep. Exactly and were probably -- Seymour the name now I wonder if they'll come out and I'm talking about knowing that a book come out with a different team and offensively maybe a -- that it is so. With a lot of various nickel packages. Where they were able to generate pressure on -- and chase them out of the pocket make him throw on the run making a run for his life and try to make -- to -- Right now I think is an and we all agree with that show is that color probably make. More of those throws and JT O'Sullivan can mean clearly I would say much better."

Play from 19:01[19:01]" Yeah that's all I noted announced that he hasn't been in the locker room evident as. And about that if he's if he's done for awhile -- huge loss for why not because -- you know played a lot of 43 Carolina team on a day when green went down -- kinda limit how much or three can really play. And they'd rather have him out there and perform in front -- my great and that kind of limit what you do defensively as well but I -- think adjustment that they made across the board. And I think maybe you might more coverage to probably more zone than we saw on Sunday night. And hopefully to some degree more the past and -- they generate that is fine but. The come into the game and they were practically one thing well you can take away one thing but if that one thing you know isn't what beating you and -- the turn out with beating you. Now this particular game will probably either practical impact because the Broncos are on the ball at the that might Michael Pittman had a hundred yard game finally last Sunday. And -- a -- Jacksonville so does the predominately a throwing team as bill pointed out they don't yet they probably throw more than they did we -- two years. Right which is which obviously is safe assumption though. Yeah I think you know he's changed and."

Play from 20:12[20:12]" overall than feeling of this team. Mike after -- You know the six weeks five games that they played in the obviously to crushing losses that won't even close and you know some wins that you know evil question when in their own right there's this team and have an identity yet or do you think you'll ever get one."

Play from 20:29[20:29]" It does not have an identity I don't know when it's going to get one guy take some sort of winning streak of some or where they do one thing I believe. And they're able to use that the league in victory it come out and and maybe they get their running game -- again they went and got a war. That he could you have an identity as a hard -- you know. On the football running team. Or perhaps -- gets more comfortable the deep ball of the area that that. That you can data we are a right now they can't say what they are because they've been so up and down. Coming off a great win it ran. Then going out losing by 840 point. Charges and -- been way to look at this. So I think this team is trying to find its identity and I think like you know Indian Paul and all the guys that today. They're enjoying the positives of what they do well in an effort to build kind of identity and art United. Yeah really they don't really know a lot of a team that bluster few games lull we had five and we will really don't know. You know and and a point you know you get the ten or eleven games -- identity product on that point I would say is that the cut off point somewhere."

Play from 21:40[21:40]" I know that. Coach Belichick mentioned yesterday that the thought of -- betray over the pager was highly unlikely yesterday and that obviously proved to be the case. There were two trades in the -- made the Cowboys cut and Roy Williams from Lions. And the Colts got John McCargo from the bills which -- surprising but a good for the Colts and to that end it was that -- spot or a player. That you thought the Patriots might have been able to help themselves with the would trade and they had to pull the trigger."

Play from 22:08[22:08]" Well I've probably they would have needed secondary help. But I don't think there's anybody out there really because the Cowboys could you help in the secondary as well there -- on the -- without Alexander trainer that they're just trying to score people on here that's what they're going to have to -- yeah it was going to be hard -- breaking -- and it and it's where the quarterback. He may even the next night you're on -- month that -- of it they situation to meet -- plus he kind. It kind of comes and that team all load being the prima -- or Europe -- a lot of already living in her and now lock to be nothing on it has really John I mean. It ended they don't really. -- you don't need receiver out with the thing you have enough pitching which nobody ever has enough pitching and I mean yeah that the -- on there yeah as of right now I'm sure they are. But if any can never have enough grit and yet he can have enough offense to John but the anti Indian -- official secondary which it is or -- right now. How'd they think they -- somebody to help out there and and how in the -- sort of an ending but you know they probably need an enlightened world world bill drafted. They'll have to."

Play from 23:14[23:14]" Oh really right. The the issue of love Matt Cassel quarterbacks still seemed to come up from a lot of fans and and you guys a lot of questions and -- my god your questions as well and in my whole. Most of the show yesterday had to deal with castles not the problem right now there are many other things. Defensive line defensive backfield running back offensive line I think frankly they come before Matt Cassel. And yet. Coach Belichick felt compelled to again say that Matt -- is his quarterback. Why do you think that is."

Play from 23:48[23:48]" Because he's the best option. I don't see any reason why Kevin O'Connell. Would be a better option right now and cap that people point back to pass on not having any parent in college senators and that. And yet Kevin O'Connell a four year starter fine but Matt Cassel took all the reps per team in training camp pre season this year. He's more experience with this offense we get the college that's irrelevant now. Backhand is more -- with this offense and that he's the better option. You put O'Connell and there and listen. Biggest problem is in the red -- Okay he's he's in the eyes of he is not the play breakdown quickly enough and you have to be able to do that the reds on because number one you have a lot time -- to the base is limited. You know Jim and 22 guys into a twenty yard. Okay all right the one yard line to part of it's getting them into a ten yard based in the and not a lot of room to maneuver humidity real quick real intelligent decisions. And that comes with experience which Catholic and I had all the it has O'Connell so why would it be any better -- the assumption that while. O'Connell can run a little bit while he could run a little bit how can run to. But he caught the ball and you know he he doesn't indicating where he runs the ball. I did you -- O'Connell and help but the point I think if you put it O'Connell now you're starting from ground zero again."

Play from 25:11[25:11]" 29 dire risk another virtually no -- gave -- and -- yeah I'm right there would be honest I think if you. If you put O'Connell and now then basically what you've done your own in the town CAA that we give an -- on the -- of young kid. -- in all -- Probably the future of the back of position event without the cap comes back one way -- the other no I didn't even when you're gonna have played by the end of the season he'll most likely have started fifteen games for the team. We'll probably get a contract somewhere and he'll go off -- play Horry are. Right or at least have an opportune haven't opportunities are -- he had here -- already went down score in O'Connell music either grooming as a backup and and maybe some day. They're -- and eventually replace we don't know you know who knows how long Tom Brady has -- Taylor and you -- that they're in a blowout that I mean maybe could've played a series on an uniting in an ego you know is thirty. Ten. But putting him there in the second quarter not entertaining any thoughts on making him the red zone quarterback. Temper -- call -- a backup quarterback but you know what they got out of the one and old male -- of air that does it help -- confident. That's not a good idea or. Not look at the running back situation like in Pittsburgh appears back when he had down. She's Willie Parker -- Go between the one in the one spot at the one -- Earl Bennett -- pounds and touched it. Oh Kyle's not a better reds and option let's hear you he would probably be a disaster."

Play from 26:38[26:38]" Oh what radio at Patriots dot com email address if you like to -- and the conversation of -- and questions and some of the four mentioned topics that. Michael printed -- Patriots football weekly and I have already entertained a lot of other things to get today including in the 3 o'clock hour while Ron Jaworski from ESPN. In the Monday Night Football and he'll give us his viewpoints not only on the Patriots as they presently stand and you know here's a guy Mike that looks at an awful lot of video Lotta Lotta -- he does his -- perhaps -- Well as any analyst in the game and you be part of the broadcast crew here at Gillette next Monday night and frankly I'm I can't wait to ask him what he sees about Madcast I would think that. If anybody could break the guy down until what he likes and what doesn't like it's probably -- Jaworski --"

Play from 27:24[27:24]" Surely a former quarterback would the guy who would panic situation and is one of the best in the mean you work on Monday Night Football. -- back I think there are a lot of fans that would probably say more jaws list Tony -- probably Yankee agree I was keep praying Eddie -- Kornheiser -- today. Need to get us comic relief -- you moral guy you know what I actually like Tony Kornheiser and that is like he's kind of he had a tired yeah he's yeah he's -- captain obvious at times he's acquired taste. And I have been like you know his radio talk shows in the yeah because somewhat reverent. He's not trying to be a football analyst again he's trying to do what he's trying to be is he's trying to not be as bad as a guy like you know Miller was. He's trying to be. At least as good as. You know frank Gifford was I mean he's trying to find a niche he's trying to find a mixed. And I'm not sure that he found -- I'm not even sure that he can't find it but Tony what Tony needs to do with Tony to be still himself. And portraits on his radio personality. And his newspaper column personality. On the television broadcasts meant that you struggled largely in trying to do you write about that because he does he look different person. The -- concern in your mind. When the Patriots are right now after six weeks five games that they play. Isn't the quarterback isn't the O line is that the deal line is that the defensive back is at linebacker corps is at the coaching staff. Play from 36:07[36:07]" I I actually didn't service yeah I'd have to say on the service you know I don't think I think -- be very difficult in that. As a problem although. You know I have heard from some of the players the other glad to be back home that you know the jetlag is you know caught up with a little bit in. You know what's taken him a little while to get back into a groove and so I would suggest. That having the Monday night game coming back from the west coast trip for two weeks as it is is probably a blessing in disguise."

Play from 36:33[36:33]" Yet that actually they were definitely helping no -- next day -- rest -- next to their preparations so it always is good to get back. And you had a long flight home on Sunday and you kind of weary -- and Monday morning at least knowing that you have a full week. And you cannot play again -- Monday. Probably make a big difference."

Play from 36:49[36:49]" You know so much has been said about. You know the problems of this team -- head and and in rarely do we get a chance to really examine some of the the coaching duties. In an effort to try to right the ship because frankly there has been a lot the questionable last few years so that's why we have a question that and the one that really has come tomorrow and have had a couple friends of mine in I don't know that whether they listened to show we're not but it was just you know -- his guys talk. And asked me about dom capers now obviously he came to this team in the offseason having NFL head coaching experience. He became available coach Belichick offered him a -- knowing that you know perhaps the secondary was going to be an Achilles heel. I think we've seen that yeah -- that is the case this year. So I'm curious at least to this short -- the season where basically only a third of the way through the years if of course you can into the playoffs and there so. In this regard what do you think. The impact of dom capers. Has been on this team have you seen anything into manageable evidence that he has helped."

Play from 37:51[37:51]" No and I don't think that's because he has done the job I don't think he has that great -- work where it is having not handle any obvious he has no question marks elected that the secondary. That's been the biggest issue mean it is obvious he would -- transitional and I am the last. I'm with -- odds that that that'd take over number one and he had by the fall in the number one. But we weren't sure that I do on the other side and obvious enough on the solution area either because Deltha O'Neal is that kind of analyzed that we. And we haven't seen enough from Terrence Wheatley Jonathan Wilhite to a Olympic -- that been now and take over all stars. I don't think -- impact would have been minimal anyway. Yeah you know with I mean he's only the secondary coach and no he's a lot of head coaching parents. I'm not what people work regularly Gordon dom capers unless he's brought -- to be head coach. You know what what really is is an impact going to be as the secondary while I guess that's."

Play from 38:45[38:45]" That's really. Where I kind of -- the questions from the it is kind of like why would they bring a guy like that. If they didn't think he could have a positive impact and whoever was that he was working -- in obvious that we haven't seen really any kind of an impact in. I think in in my answer actually to my friend was well you got to have talent first. And -- to -- horses like you know at those positions."

Play from 39:06[39:06]" But you know what they've they've got a lot out of those guys at various points enemy now -- get off to a good start this year. It's certainly a team we -- on some improvement there any areas obviously the last couple weeks. It's it's the analysts that -- in Miami as well. But I mean that to me is predicated on pass. -- I don't know. What we now of capers and we always talk what the message here in the past or has been great that they -- the secondary right or not doing now would now put all the blame on second week. Play in the front seven. That's not getting after the quarterback. The whether it's by design or lack of performance the bottom line is into game and that -- is the opposing quarterback and racket touched. That's their act whatever -- can't get --"

Play from 39:52[39:52]" That is a constant that's true in -- either game neither quarterback got touched that your of course this lesbian San Diego that -- for most of the game. Team went with you know an extra defensive back and really lined up with a only a couple of linebacker right because I like Tedy Bruschi was an end -- near as much as people think you Willis."

Play from 40:08[40:08]" Now and it's and it worked with a B lineup and that's why you don't -- like I was out there at all time out in and that they act faster players. And try to put that at reliant on the field operatic LT what they did do but it now out the -- as a prominent Philip Rivers afterwards that I was clean all night. -- was the don't think the uniform even as he watched. Right what what -- reasonable expectation of coach like paper do you think -- with his experience and I would -- ability I would -- work with the -- how much you can do to help and -- odds -- Rodney Harrison is definitely now or Deltha -- Or even -- O'Neal who like to think it's not it's not mental with Deltha O'Neal away physically he's probably to -- at this point. And he. You as a first round draft pick years ago. By the Broncos in and just never really lived up to that billing as the number one quarterback that a couple of Pro Bowl seasons. But I would say I was he's -- I think he's played through our career far below the expectations are for him when he came out. What bet that I I think dom capers biggest impact could be worked with guys like Terrence Wheatley into optimal and even James Sanders. Now I'll admit that I've been a little bit down on james' hands that he is better -- them ball and he was the guy playing deep. A lot of those long passes they brought up Paris line scrimmage allowed one safety back there and an and it didn't really work out -- I've been down have a bit of you want to pin them that I -- Okay that that there you can say that -- hasn't quite developed and may be working with a veteran coach should but -- Hobbs gave keepers lot of credit. You know around week three of war. And I did some than on -- that a pee on Ellis Hobbs and his quick aren't any credit to -- of a lot of things helping him change some of his practice routines. And we need to civic with -- anything and he kind of B he alluded to the fact that he's a bit more serious practice -- Yet to to him or is he going after every play and maybe there were capers impact earlier -- It may be part of that head coaching mentality we really try to our guys are mentally as much as you are."

Play from 42:15[42:15]" How about a foot the other side and have you seen any growth even though it's -- a little bit more of a struggle this year from a guy like Josh mcdaniels."

Play from 42:25[42:25]" No and I think the promise he doesn't -- or. Look at that that's the bottom line is I have a quarterback can mean that's got to give me a major that last I would say in in terms of growth -- offense that record. So it's not there at him blame him for and that's gone wrong this year -- the credit what happened last year not -- can't have it both ways. -- I don't think. Right now it hasn't been too creative at times I'll admit that and I think I think they're trying to find their identity -- figure out what they have a castle before they can't really open the playbook. And get back to what they did last year I think there's there's even -- a conservative at times. We had questions about the red zone play. And particularly at the start of the third quarter on Sunday we're ready Moss got a feel for any of those or place. What will that period you wonder will look and it went -- the thought process with that one and the answer was well we don't know we'll get the talking just details and so you know Friday's ago maybe we can finally be asking him. -- he had a busy of the direct input in terms of personnel groupings like. I think you have a name yet I certainly do think that if -- I put them that on him certainly the reason why -- Moss and them some a lot of interest. I just you know I would think he would have some input but I would little or all of that would necessarily come from him L but it is built around him. All right you want to do is I don't think I think that's one -- the most bizarre things though that -- seen all years how do you not have Wright Randy Moss in a red zone offense situation when you know you've struggled to begin with and that in that place in terms of delegating authority that it depends on the plate to. They need to appoint a -- he is -- I'll take I'll I'll know we really need to do this at this important. -- think it's every played you know they'd need that you know they they choose a number of plays every you know get the call the him over -- I don't think it works -- depend on the flow of the game at that point in him. You know at that point I think maybe they just wineries felt martian -- there -- is John I really don't know. I want -- they're heated discussion. What do you think to do good but I mean you know I don't know I mean but as funny as they had that that discussion walked off the field -- an -- start -- come -- laying in the red zone it is kind of ironic yeah doctor Barrett you wonder if there's any connection."

Play from 44:41[44:41]" I believe that thought has crossed my mind a couple of times you know in the you know. I don't know it kind of get an offer too little bit of -- different subject here though but. I don't know if you saw this but I saw a story. I think it was. It was originally Sunday. It was at the start of -- of the meetings going on Saint Petersburg. You know Florida and I know that it's ended I saw a story hit the wire about. Commissioner Roger Goodell. Coming up with the idea. -- or somebody who came up with the -- and pitched it for a spring game or scrimmage. Do you did you hear anything about that. Briefly and you you're going to Miami what was it about well here's the story in and a kind of cherry picked -- here is because you know -- kind of -- in appointees on the the whole you know popular you know college concept of having a spring game and I think we'll realize that in the last. What 45 years that at a few you know major in Ohio division one power as universities. You know they're attracting tens of thousands of fans to a spring football game which is a controlled scrimmage pretty much. It would the story was that that could Goodell. He's quote coming at a secret report was. The issue was raised by a few clubs more in the context of what the colleges do with the spring game it could be in the form of the scrimmage to it was just an interest in -- stepped. And it has been raised before. He went on to say that there were no parameters set. The idea is going to get consideration in the future. It could include a spring pre season game -- games or maybe a scrimmage between two teams -- intra squad that type of scrimmage. -- would probably come in conjunction. -- judgment in either the pre season with a regular season schedule which we know. Has been discussed quite a bit over the course of last year tune in again after this last pre season it -- reared its ugly head again. That we -- too much bad football as it is with four pre season games and it's time to consider shortening -- it is well. Well holly adding scrimmage take leave the bad football I'm not sure now when I went with the -- VIP again they did not say it didn't -- any -- march or April the guys are ready and well that's yeah I would say that certainly the point yet to give the guys you know at least some opportunity -- You know come down -- the season and had offseason but. Here's the thing usually around you know the draft time in April. Teams do hold you know mini camp for rookies. Well that's his rookies the actual veterans don't pour the me like could wipe you out but the team also hold passing camps and things like that usually in -- do they not. Yet but those that is not a team planning done that are not on in relation to them. That's kind of a -- going to have a guys flying out there there's you know. While I'm thinking that if they decide to jump off and again yeah absolutely but here's what I'm thinking if they decide shortened pre season. Coach been used this idea of a spring scrimmage to introduce. You know team concept play -- things like that. Two they're younger players. You bring the veterans in any way for usually in early may can't. Mostly even if it is for a couple days. And I don't know that you actually played a big game against another team but it is certainly see an intra squad type of scrimmage then you know happening. Where in years to be here's the big here is the big high and the Scott Michael. Swear the owners could make a sort of -- this type of thing out of it and Korea eight. More revenue. Does that call training camp I mean have out of eleven on eleven drills yup implied time yuppie a charge people money at -- well -- some something still do not do that the Patriots do that. Some team all 32 teams in the field do what the Patriots do for pre or training camp. Well -- some teams still sequester themselves you know -- college university and end in on basically -- careful of one of public."

Play from 48:30[48:30]" I don't like yeah yeah I think that trying too hard to. But he's everybody here. And -- the benefit of playing scrimmage in April -- may will keep in mind now that this was brought up by some teams. So this did not generate from the NFL this was -- generation -- that as an -- well this was generated by some of the teams looking at in no further marketing opportunities sensing that they may lose -- pre season opportunities that I'm just going."

Play from 48:57[48:57]" to add an additional camp in springtime or in training camp. In July I mean you know what let's never let up runaway -- trying to finally spread things out will it affect I think that's what we're talking about the I think they they -- but I you know. If -- had everybody report to camp the same day at and they have. Number two days and everything they have a scrimmage in -- on top of I don't know and he tackled too --"

Play from 49:22[49:22]" You don't think though the overall NFL popularity as it is around the globe -- a spring scrimmage -- spring near as spectacular or event of some -- or maybe you. You know may be put in some kind of love all the musical events or entertainment have been around it you don't think the fans would go for that I think they'll make a lot of money. I don't deny that while they want like that's exactly that was my whole point right -- I don't think -- the -- ages of the players that that's my point. Well I think it is opening up the door to more injuries what I figured well maybe not especially if you shorten the pre season. If you shorten the pre season. That you're going to have less time to evaluate your rosters you have less time -- evaluate your younger players so if you're -- short the pre season doesn't expanded to include coaches still need the same about time what you're doing that -- basically taken a week. Or or maybe a few extra days. From training camp in July or early August in your lot of that -- and your putting on and may."

Play from 50:18[50:18]" Well that's debatable if you're bringing guys earlier without the benefit at any sort of -- camp or offseason workout program. If you do this in a you know April. Lot of guys are on the couch until May well that's why -- match."

Play from 50:32[50:32]" I mean you do this he would do this you'd have to do this after the NF filled Raptors know what you could do it. You know in a truce springs since I think -- colleges do it you know right around at mid part of April that's usually when there one week of spring spring practices and there's no way he could do before the draft because it would yeah I mean actually would be stupid. For the NFL's -- over the crap because all idea would be to get the rookies involving get them you know try to get them up the space normally I'd say do it with many camp in June that a lot -- in in part. And maybe in my way then. -- and I don't play my view is in part yet maybe find a way than to combine a passing camp with a mini camp in June and you move it safe to. You know mid to late may around Memorial Day weekend even -- could make that the quote -- spring event right where again you're combining your your -- actually. Just me real arranging the calendar. Are under the guise of you know creating more opportunities for younger players and also appeasing those were saying we have too much bad football in the summertime already and."

Play from 51:34[51:34]" I think that and I agree you do make a good point but -- slipping -- although camps and all those. Offseason programs have a purpose. And I'd it would just -- by the wayside nothing would be going by the wayside you'd only be changing the calendar date. And putting it all under that the -- the the under the hat of spring football. Well as long as all 32 teams are playing by the rules that you really can't. Are -- Yankee teams and others everybody after the scrimmage in. You know it has to be at the universe always going to get into competitive. Competitive down oh yeah there's -- yeah on crap and his. It has over the would be pandora's box means I'd wonder if it's really worth the trouble."

Play from 52:19[52:19]" On the surface null because I think the colleges have a kind of a neat little niche with them but. At the same time though nothing surprises me when it comes to them in the the marketing arm of his I have absolutely and now so I just I got tossed another because at that was an Henderson stories I can't believe this thing actually has some legs. But apparently it does and apparently it's going to continue to get conversation don't want. In amongst the teams now. Roger Goodell also said coming out of Florida that the scheduling. Up for 2009 is not going to change which means we're still going to have four pre season's next year instill that I have sixteen regular seasons next year but that doesn't mean. The 2010 and we right not to see some movement special because it's that we're well in 2010 is which is it -- nine or ten is the Lester the collective bargain I think it. I think on nine there okay and he has on and the oath and the untapped here yet the ability of it ought to be and kept -- was eleven. You might be right -- on the I think what they can do I think what I think the last year of the deal is only nine. But I think that for -- whatever reason ten the year head and it has to stay and play entirely uncapped year than would be eleven there's no deal in place. I think that's the way it is and -- and again I could be wrong I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. Because we do have a smart crowd here but. -- that's why I think is all -- lines up for 2000 intent and or eleven. Where you might see some changes like spring football and less pre season games and maybe an extra regular season I I think that's definitely on the agenda. So what's on your schedule for -- what -- you work on by the way up for roper. Next week for PFW."

Play from 58:50[58:50]" thanks again should appreciate the time today instead our -- yeah okay perfect now we're working. They don't -- good yeah right communication modern technology you know all of -- I'm. Let's start off with them the obvious because this has been certainly want to constituent a lot of Patriots fans. Ever since week one when Tom Brady went down and now that you've got a chance to have a look at the Patriots a little bit and you watch a lot of film. Into the games as well you've seen Matt Cassel a quarterback what you honest impressions. Well Matt Cassel and how he is developing and whether or not he is the best option for the Patriots right now."

Play from 59:29[59:29]" Well right now he is the best option for the Patriots and there's no question that. I mean I've looked at all the Patriots games on the coach's tapes -- I get a pretty good perspective on. What Josh mcdaniels is trying to do with designing the offense and get an idea what his region going to be you know I'm never -- of percent sure because. I don't design the Rockets don't have that excuse but I get an idea from looking at the tape and an account of what I've gleaned from propose starting his office I believe their asking. Matt Cassel to run the same offense that Tom Brady ran. And that just isn't going to happen and who we're talking about one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady. I still see you know the high percentage shotgun formation. A high percentage spreading the deal with. Some empty looks important five wide receiver looks. They're giving met a lot of Reading to do a lot of his progression edit this offense that waits till we're structured -- Tom Brady and to -- is still structured. Still the quarterback have to make decisions you don't make it to make great decisions throughout the game. Tom Brady was prepared for that he had experience to do that Matt Cassel has not had the experience to handle. All the reading progression that -- let's just give you based on the latest Rockets is designed. I don't Cassel took over I would see more simplified offense a little more writing game based that just never happened."

Play from 1:00:48[1:00:48]" Do you think maybe it still should happen."

Play from 1:00:50[1:00:50]" Yes I I do believe it should happen I don't. It is probably do the opposite a vote of what Josh maybe -- believed -- what should happen with this offense but I I just don't. I don't think any quarterback where would this little experience is Matt Cassel has been an NFL system. I played against complex sophisticated deep sense as we get a week out you've got they have experienced you've got to be seeing these -- at the warp speed it would get up bills played at. I really don't care how much practice -- how much tape study you do. You have to have a game experience to handle the new -- sophisticated and they'll -- that doesn't. And it clearly I think you should limit what he has to deal rather than expand what he's used to doing."

Play from 1:01:30[1:01:30]" I think that's an interesting point that you bring up because a lot of the -- while the talk right after Tom Brady went down was the possibility. Of bringing in veteran. Someone who couldn't come an end. Maybe I don't know for whatever reason -- the life into the offense and still give Matt -- chance to. Perhaps. Grow a little bit what was going on. Would that have been the right thing to do would it still be the right thing to do and how difficult it is it. For a quarterback who isn't used to the system. To come in and learn the system and be effective."

Play from 1:02:02[1:02:02]" Job -- I think -- another guy in would have been a problem. I would still be probably if you brought idea that you see a veteran guy by the William would would you make cure your plans are got pretty good football game. Those decisions are made up you know in the offseason and through training camp this year you begin to find your roster what you want to do. -- obviously you know the pitchers are very powerful what Tom Brady who wouldn't. And they talk that you gotta go to this season say it does not go to get hurt the other did very resilient he got a long. You know hundred plus game this starting streak what we all know he'll next play could be your last. They rolled the dice that they rolled the dice like a lot of teams who like Green Bay is done. You know with a Aaron Rodgers backing him up with two rookies -- a lot of teams to take that gamble I think the high risk gamble but they're rolling the dice. Unfortunately for the Patriots can -- guys and Tom Brady got hurt and you have to go to Matt Cassel. I think it's literally. Impossible to yell -- I -- Brett Favre played pretty well right now put points it was a lot of plays on the field and I think if you have a player that's understanding of your offensive system can read coverage. Knows you're just does that make. After the ball was snapped -- that's what you that's what -- got to play quarterback in this league you know all the just has made once the ball is snapped. For the for the the high percentage of time I believed. A veteran quarterback even coming in a short period of time cannot assimilated offense."

Play from 1:03:22[1:03:22]" Okay that's fair enough now. -- you can look at this team a little bit and I know how a lot of us feel about it I certainly don't help our fans feel about it -- what are your thoughts on this team's offensive line number one. And number two. Do you have any thoughts one way or the other on if Laurence Maroney can still be an effective running back."

Play from 1:03:41[1:03:41]" Yeah I'll let solace to those and they're they're they're both very difficult question I'm sure they're quite sure that -- the people -- wouldn't -- you know I've always felt. You know even even in that that the that this Super Bowl run for the Patriots. That this was just a little bit above above average offensive line I think if you look at it -- each of those guys individually they're just average players but they played so well together. You know they've got good that's silent communication and the understand it -- everyone's doing that non verbal communication because they've been together so walks. So they have played well together. But I'm I'm going to be realistic here too well Tom Brady. It was one of the great pocket passers that this game is ever seen that there -- source -- studied Tom Brady at what he does in the pocket and brought into line and made a mistake. Normally Tom Brady made them look good with a subtle little movement in the pocket to get rid of the football if there was put pressure always knew where to go with the football to Tom Brady was a guy much like Peyton Manning designated. Indianapolis that makes the offensive line look better so you know what you lose Tom Brady got you lost an awful lot. -- the whole football team and now I'll get to the running game cited -- got done while watching the running game the Patriots and it opens -- there are so old I think if there's one thing you know hindsight maybe -- take his coaches like to look at now say -- We do have a pretty good pockets of why we dropped the ball would run the ball pretty darn good there are some holes here backstretch just not been running well I know. No he's kind of -- now so I could see why don't look that -- and -- camera I see some great -- in the -- That I I see god -- accelerating through the whole I see a guy -- get the whole try to bounce to the outside. You know they don't certain don't do things that the coaches are going to get a lot more than they look at the same -- You know that I'm fortunate enough to look at TCU guys it's not -- up there with an anger he initially got a -- angry and I just don't see that's. But I also got to see any more -- Kevin Faulk and those guys you don't believe -- another dimension the running it. And it just kept it close it seems like. As a group. This running back -- just does not run the ball efficiently they're missing -- other missing the cut back lanes are not bouncing outside has boast -- And they don't can be looked it is very surprised that I know how well these guys they're coaxed."

Play from 1:05:53[1:05:53]" This is correlated all you'd think with us some of the decreased production from the offensive line."

Play from 1:05:58[1:05:58]" Well I think some of just like except for the most part I think the offensive line in the run game you know has been pretty good they have created some -- running backs to run the football. Not to even gives not take advantage of it and then Maroney disappointed -- you know bill wanted the one of its statistics I keep your. As an adult -- offensive efficiency for running back to that that is. Four plus yards per carry the only quarterbacks last year in the NFL ahead of thirty pitches you're over par four yards per carry. -- I getting more than four yards and -- Laurence Maroney right now that is close to that just not running the ball well."

Play from 1:06:31[1:06:31]" Right Ron Jaworski from ESPN who will be a part of the Monday Night Football crew. Would like to Rico Tony Kornheiser. The Patriots taken on the Broncos on Monday night with us here into the playbook what is happen now of course with the Patriots at three into is that we have a -- considerably more. Shall we say challenging AFC east what do you thoughts on the rest of the division coming up to the Patriots level. With the Patriots kind of sliding back a little bit."

Play from 1:06:57[1:06:57]" Well -- this that this is obvious this happens you know rather the National Football League and in each division maybe not every year. But there is evidence -- teach football team there's no question though that the Patriots you know I've done a tremendous job for a number of years. You know winning Super Bowls dominating division DO dominating the National Football League. But he eventually. The draft is a great equalizer free agencies to great equalizer almost that is common to play the league is based on every would be they develop and -- and that's got power plays out also due to injury -- injury there are the whole lives good changes but. -- teams like Buffalo team was like Newton New York Jets team was like the Miami Dolphins. They're not going to stay at the bottom of the bell very long to eventually they're going to get it. They're going to get better players because they get the earlier draft choices to the mistakes they made it over the they're not going to make those mistakes anymore because. The organization is being used to working with each other that you the coaches that did better as they go year -- year so clearly -- eventually those teams catch up -- you."

Play from 1:07:58[1:07:58]" I think that of Buffalo's certainly has shown the least a little bit of momentum continuous from last year. I think the -- that shocks everybody around here is that the Dolphins have made as big a leap as they apparently have what about you."

Play from 1:08:10[1:08:10]" Yeah I I'm not surprised at all I think that you know -- don't know about Bill Parcells so he knows how to build -- football team you know the Dallas Cowboys football team that's successful right now -- still. -- Bill Parcells product for the most part -- how to build organizational depth and still have a ways to go. But the one thing I can see -- look at them on -- is their man you know they had an -- Sally kind of according greatest I watched him play they play hard. They play prospects they may not be the most eligible for operate they get after they they play the game kind of the old fashioned way they already have a chip -- did you got a quarterback they'll manage your game well he went with the bonehead mistakes you don't you can be -- football -- so. Still there not a playoff contender yet but I think they're becoming a good football team."

Play from 1:08:53[1:08:53]" Well let's get the Monday night -- because that's what you're going to be here at -- and I didn't always straight come up Foxboro and we're always happy to have you we hope that it turns out to be a good game for you obviously Denver struggled a -- themselves an offense after opening up with three straight thirty plus scoring games. They struggled to get into double figures in the last couple weeks coming into this game the Patriots problems we documented at least some of them -- so. Which team stands to gain the most with a win or. I guess the other way of looking at it is which one gains we're doesn't gain if they lose."

Play from 1:09:27[1:09:27]" You know I obviously are a lot at -- he even this early deceit day and I think both teams. Are still trying to find their identity you know we we we talked about the world right now. You know all the Patriots and delta football team that's still is a work in progress I would say the same thing about the Denver Broncos they've been very uneven this season obviously want to lead one of the game's great throwers comes into the in the Foxboro would take what I mean it's a pleasure watching this guy play and I think the fans. But haven't seen him lied about. They -- seat jetstream behind the ball he. You can go to -- He hit seven of the kid at a shoulder they attacked the football field out of people way to go broke. The ultimate Rivers got a good bigger post last week and now you bring the vertical game Brandon Marshall combined with Jake Cutler. In the Foxboro Gillette Stadium leader that this what could be a little bit of a shoot out type game and of course -- quarterback don't like those -- game but I could -- you look at the other side ever brought could be that isn't very good so I think this game could be the high twenties into the thirties."

Play from 1:10:24[1:10:24]" I think everybody would be excited -- what you mentioned Brenda Marshall and obviously he's had an unbelievable starting at eighteen catches and a game earlier this year he had a great year lectures well. What makes him. A special receiver and what if you've seen from him that allows Jay Cutler to get to him more often."

Play from 1:10:41[1:10:41]" Padilla a number of staying -- much getting him really is an excellent decider alternates don't eat. He comes into the game prepared for mistakes study and puts together a game plan that attacks the weakest of the team B plays you know he's basically up passing. All this of course they like to throw the football don't we although Bob there. They're stretched running game which is a solid part of their offense right now but right now they fielded all that -- to setup the play action pass skipper Jay Cutler. And when you have a Brandon Marshall and -- schaffler who's who will be out this week the Patriots fans and that's good because this guy has also you vertical threat from the tight end position. -- have a guy that's big. He's strong. He's fast he's competitive he has ball skills tickets that you -- in the balls in the year. I just loves to play the game Ed and he's a great security blanket project color they have just incredible chemistry."

Play from 1:11:31[1:11:31]" So the young has certainly got a lot of great time at running back obviously Michael Pittman has been a factor that Specter a -- be rushed for over a hundred yards last week. Does the running game for Denver helped Jay Cutler in his passing in directly or can it still be more effective to make him a better quarterback."

Play from 1:11:47[1:11:47]" There are well you know I was they're quarterback's best friend is the running game. They're not that it's going to be the foundational what you do but I believe you if you have the ability to stick that ball up and bring it back. You know it's your NB -- the play action passing game and freeze linebackers and it's seeking to speak up to that line of scrimmage get nosy. That's when you create voids in the secondary that's when you create big plays down the field. So -- the Broncos to run the football effectively and efficiently and it really does set up there they're really good deep ball threat for them that's going down the field because Jay Cutler has the arm and that and think about Cutler were a lot of times a -- see. Quarterbacks used their play action they move outside the pocket and it rolled WG controlled had three or four yard pass in the flat really got tight end coming across somebody did -- yet. That's not with the Broncos do what he does sound that bootleg. He's looking downfield you have good -- cross included fifty yards down the field. So they just don't run that he didn't don't stop play action passing game when they're throwing the football play action they go for the whole run. I think that's what worries Patriots think it's -- but yeah I would think -- that -- who we you know we we -- the problems in the secondary last week exposed by Philip -- to a certain degree and you know you look at you know the overall quarterback rating -- to pay two strikeouts 96 point two that rates point six in the NFL so clearly. You know it's a team that is strong and spending the past."

Play from 1:13:06[1:13:06]" A look at this Broncos defensive team and I know that they've had their problems this year but individually I mean Champ Bailey Dre' -- Boss Bailey you know I've always liked Elvis Dumervil Dwayne Robertson why is Denver's defense as porous as they are."

Play from 1:13:22[1:13:22]" Edited it it's not a pistol the fancy if you count as a deep Intel likes to run around. Many -- this league it's hard to run around blocks and get your mentioning guys like you don't Champ Bailey injury -- I'm just looking at tape right now Jacksonville last week and -- we're really watching tradable blog struggle -- his coverage. That's that I go to my statistics -- we have about Dre' Bly. Eddie don't add to that so far this season you know he's been targeted 42 times to 32 times passes complete against him 76% of the time. When you throw -- you're gonna get a completion to little regard for touchdowns so quickly you know you guys that. Understood because they're great names are not playing that well although I will play Champ Bailey who played terrific. He's only been thrown at thirteen times so far this season completed 92 teams are staying away from Champ Bailey and attacking -- life."

Play from 1:14:11[1:14:11]" It's what seems like them. We could see the Patriots go to war Bly and we could see the Broncos coach or somebody like Deltha O'Neal."

Play from 1:14:18[1:14:18]" Unity the media plays that they are not. It -- definitely that's the stuff though that's a good feeling -- a good job."

Play from 1:14:25[1:14:25]" I guarantee you I guarantee you Ron there are fans that are listening right now that their jaws are open. But I do respect you courts and in the like walls that's good stuff you know."

Play from 1:14:34[1:14:34]" They were the only two from a pro pro Patriots you know deep offensive side. This is -- single high safety so you're going to -- scores out there and I went. I think what they have to do from the deep criticized take a look at their coverage schemes and maybe go to some of that comfort to those corners. Do that some help over the top and they deploy a little more aggressive a line of scrimmage yet does take away a little bit in the running game but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices in the way the secondary playing right now. I think you've got to would giving up the big plays so I think -- going to be FF become little more predominant their scheme."

Play from 1:15:06[1:15:06]" That's great stuff and we can go all -- on this but I know you gotta get back to works on what you know that's greatly appreciated your time today. -- fans as well and look for two -- your visit here on Monday bullet for the listing on the broadcast."

Play from 1:15:17[1:15:17]" We appreciate Jarvis should be -- game -- money that we're always excited about the Gillette Stadium to great Camby Yasser football."

Play from 1:15:23[1:15:23]" Absolutely thank you Ron thank you he got a Ron Jaworski. With -- to Rico Tony Kornheiser part of ESPN's Monday Night Football game crew as the Patriots take on the Denver Broncos. It does Gillette Stadium 830 use the I guess the official kickoff time for Monday night game in Foxborough. -- kids. A point. All it on talent. Serious breaking down. Of details and the best part about it is in we have a chance to talk to him last year before Monday Night Football game when he was -- coming into town. And we caught it at the same place. Caught him. He keeps an office that NFL films. In Jersey where they're located believe. And he spends most of his time -- rather than in Bristol Connecticut and he's looking at film. He's going to game tapes and we caught in today looking specifically at what Denver defensive tape and how teams attack the Broncos. On the events. And so it looks like a Dre' Bly and Deltha O'Neal will certainly be marked men. On Monday night to give you some that are sort of anticipate maybe even something for you to look forward to as well. Maybe it's of that you can kind of follow if you're one of those that likes to follow the story within the story. Or if you like to kind of read between the lines you like to look at individual matchups. Or players as well as much as television cameras obviously will let you do that. Monday night's game is a great opportunity to do that seeing how the Patriots if they take advantage. Of what the only showing. Will legal target dribble will they even challenged Champ Bailey. Will they try to jam the ball up the middle and get that soft underside. Is at least appears. They Denver's defense has become to this point time. To me that says you don't vertical up and down run game. Somebody to pound it between the tackles. And if Stephen Neal does come back. And we began already discussed this picture Dublin's quite -- so much better when he's in there especially from a run blocking perspective. To me this this really just begs. Ball control offense keeping the ball out of jay Cutler's hands. As best as you possibly can try to control the clock keep moving the chains and attacking the underneath side attacking on the corner in Bly. -- has to be. Certainly. A big part of what the Patriots will be working on this week in practice Tuesday. Try to get back in the winning column and beat the Denver Broncos that is the task at hand and we originally yesterday on the program how. This is a good opportunity for the team because it you've got the Denver game at home. You got the St. Louis game at home to follow. And it seems to me to be an opportunity here to get on a roll before you have to go back on the road. And you play a big Sunday night game at Indianapolis and frankly from what I saw the Colts this last week it looks like they are now. Beginning at least to get back into Colts like shape. Maybe that also coincides with the fact that Peyton Manning is getting healthier as the season progresses that opposites to start. With not only one but now we're told to. Separate knee. Procedures. In the offseason. So maybe now he's just getting better. You know that the spell trouble I think for the rest of the AFC I don't think anybody really thought that the Colts were going to be down and out for the entire year did you think then that's got it. And so if you can get on a bit of a role. Be and score some points giving get a confidence -- up high again. You have an opportunity to do that against this Denver team you gotta figure it would slow them down as well. But he got a chance of that against Denver and St. Louis back to back home games before you have to go get challenged again and play at Indy on Sunday November the second. So that's what the Patriots have ahead of him. Do you know they'll tell you it's a week at a time game at a time here all the old cliches but. Even if you just expand it just a little bit to look at what the next two with three weeks bring. But you can see there's going to be some opportunity there to correct this I mean if you can a couple of wins. Any improved to five and two going into Indy. You'll feel better about this team Mathieu. -- will. You probably should have. You going to Indianapolis okay maybe you don't win that game but then you finally get a chance to meet Buffalo. The get go all the way to November ninth before you play the bills for the first time this season. And then you have three straight divisional games November ninth Buffalo home. November 13 a Thursday night game against the Jets home. And then at Miami. On Sunday November 23. -- three straight divisional games to follow the Indianapolis game. If the division means anything to you at all and you obviously have to. That has to be your first goal win the division because then you know you're in the playoffs right. But even if you stub your toe at Indy. You find a way to beat Buffalo, New York at home maybe you get revenge at Miami somehow someway and you got to win a road game somewhere this year -- him. And they won at the Jets. You gotta win another one somewhere and he probably have to do against a team that is certainly competitive if not now now playoff contender right in order to stamp himself as legitimate. Well then you've got a chance here. To be as good as maybe a three. Going into Thanksgiving weekend. When the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I think if you can get to that point this team is three into now. And you're telling me that they can be eight in three going into Pittsburgh who amongst us is going to say I'll take that. Everybody you'll raise your hand right I am I am -- I'll take that right now. But he can see what the schedule can -- lineup and help the pats. But some -- probably still feel this way and I know it is -- it it pretty clear that the media is to feels like. They had people still expect especially now that. -- the Patriots have had two losses of you know twenty more points. It's the first time ever under head coach Bill Belichick. But the Patriots have two losses of twenty or more points in the same season. I -- you knew better not but it's you know it's it's happened. And we took eleven games to play I think we all know that and there are still you know an opportunity for improvement here. If blood there are some people in and I caught up a bit on espn.com. And let's see I also. Got. Who's this guy Ruben Brown who's a former Buffalo Bill in Chicago bear. Guard you might remember the name Ruben Brown. He was obviously pro bowler. And even though I guess he's not officially retired from what I understand he's been hosting a young or a radio talk show. I guess in Buffalo. And he didn't. This past week were I don't know it was if they're to go whatever it was after. These past weekend's games were completed. He seemed to think that. It's gonna get rougher. For the Patriots from here on out. Resident potentially better even though you'd like to think that you know in theory. The wartime that a guy like Matt Cassel has to work -- guys like Randy Moss and and whoever. That it's going to be that much easier if the team can stay relatively healthy -- all the pieces to your offensive line puzzle back in the placed it should make things easier right. Stands to reason that things would be a little leagues right well. He doesn't think so because I caught this. From Ruben Brown who says that you know you'd like here's his quote he says the Randy Moss and from hasn't really said in yet. That came from all actually I'm sorry I credited that -- from Campbell camper. Now those you made no remember Campbell camper as any. While former Miami Dolphins he was a member of the killer b.s defensive unit number of years ago and he is currently a radio analyst for the Miami Dolphins. -- bouquet over the one that says he believes that the Randy Moss tantrum. Is going to happen. Doesn't know when. He just says it's going to happen. And he says well that happens anything can happen is for a divisional race is concerned. So you can count -- camper and you can count. Ruben Brown he didn't say those exact words but brown also has intimated that he believes that the Patriots are still kind of sitting on a powder -- That film. You know the fact is is that. Adding into the equation here and nobody should be getting an equation that they keep waiting for you know things to continue go south and Randy Moss that was tantrum and and create some divisive -- this would in this locker room. You know. Ruben Brown says they just don't have it. But he does say. The good thing is that all these guys have worked together for a while in it'll start picking up now is the time to turn it on. And he says as far as the AFC east is concerned it's going to boil down to who wins out of the Jets. And the bills. That's where it's going to be -- Ruben Brown completely discount the Patriots. -- camper completely discount the Patriots it's funny everybody within this division. With Patriots have played. Both New York and Miami have yet to face Buffalo but. You know it's funny that divisional people city. The -- may not yet be dead but that the king is certainly vulnerable within the division. Whereas outside of the visually more people -- the Patriots credit and more people believe that the Patriots still. Have the ability to turn it on or turn it around as the case may be. And Atlantic Canada and audit. Set of circumstances. Do the divisional opponents in those who. Work with the division for the team to do they seem more than others. -- if they do what are they seeing that gives them fought. That the Patriots can't turn it around I'd be curious to ask somebody like brown or bowl -- to see what they asked them what they say. Based on what they noticed he did think that they have a little more intimate knowledge maybe. Flow. From the inner workings. Of this team. Knowing some of the people within the organization. Have -- that the going to play this team twice -- year anyway. What they know that we don't know maybe that's even more important question. And I and I find it I do find it strange that you know it. More than just -- believe that you know Randy Moss is going to be a negative factor. What this team before this season is over. Strange just just -- keep that in the in in the food for thought category because quite frankly. I thought we were kind of pass that -- and thought that even the tough times that we've had we've seen that you know. You know -- made you know keep to himself a little bit but you know he was and we've discussed this many times here in this particular form. He was made captain for a reason. In that locker room. Players respect him expect his ability. You know they expect his ability to come to work to be a Perot. You know to do the things that you're supposed to do in order to be. Good football player and to be a leader. Window that I wondered if the other people that. So just an interest in observation anyway but pictured here. Our look -- from the Denver side of the game. On Monday night and it will dive in all the world of this tomorrow tomorrow program Eric Levine from -- WB around of course Russell Baxter from ESPN. A loss -- join -- on our regular Thursday program but. On the Broncos. Actually Monday night's game for the Broncos is a bench what mark. It's it's a big game for mom. I mean unless you really know a lot of up Broncos football history you would be completely. Unaware of this but fact is is that. Denver is looking for it's 400. Overall victory in franchise history. And if they win on Monday night it will be their 400. Win in franchise history which I've -- kind of strange but that's. What it is they're looking for number 400. And they've been trumpeting that fact that the most of the week. And course Denver has plenty more play for -- for these reasons other than winning over 400 in a significant and you Monday Night Football which you know the you know entire football nation is basically tuned in in will be tuned -- and usually used in him. That is they hold one game lead now over the Chargers in the AFC west. Patriots could've done them a huge favor and I'm sure there were some Chargers -- mean some Broncos were rooting for the Patriots. -- the Chargers on Sunday night because now the Chargers only one game back at three in three. Broncos -- foreign to. Broncos as Ron Jaworski alluded to they've got a high powered offense. They lead the NFL and first downs they're fourth in the NFL in yards per game adjust to tick under 400 yards of total offense. Com Jay Cutler is gone for almost 1700. Yards in their six games.
