Play from 0:19[0:19]" His -- and the other -- now the leaders of Patriots football weekly and Lori Baranski. Friday October 24. -- your horse that knows I was gonna say no surprise the boys are back in town. I've stepped PFW is here Paul Perillo Eric scaled the you know Michael -- myself Andy -- but of course. -- has today offers summaries and ski everybody takes an average Friday in October off so she's -- on the Beecher doing whatever it is next you'll get -- days off but. Anyway we have some -- actual transactions to talk about some interest in roster moves from the week. And will run through those. Quickly and then we'll get the discussion with the boys -- wish we start off on he elected this is not if W progress. On the twentieth game day. Stephen Neal was activated from UP into the active roster and in late in the game rotating through wouldn't. Affiliates Mike Richardson was also signed to the active roster and played. Laurence Maroney was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury ending his third season and Dan -- was released from the roster. And then out later in the week Rodney Harrison was placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury stemming from. On the injury suffered trying to tackle Jay Cutler in the third quarter Monday night. Into wants bonds feels his roster spot in his bumped up from the practice squad and then Dan Conley was re signed the practice squad as was safety mark Dillard. I want to look at to Maroney in a minute but since that's a little bit old who's already will will get back to that first we'll talk about Rodney Harrison in the hole that is left at strong safety in the in the defense. Paul Perillo I know he's your favorite player in the history of this team so ugly cute too start the discussion -- Well because of that much -- Really -- to do that. Tough week for -- it was a tough when guys look a little red and green extras from the."

Play from 2:11[2:11]" Away well obviously. The other two stars in a -- ours because Meriweather Sanders and and Harrison were out their for the vast majority of the snaps for the first six games. I think on you know on that surface on that level I don't think really much change Sanders Meriweather will play full time as they have -- but you're you're depth obviously has been chipped away here. You had three for tune out really only have two guys in on top of that. Harrison is one of those guys that does so many different things well has all that experience. He gets the line is guaranteed to be the extra guy at the line in the box against the run he can blitz off the edge -- he can -- so. You know politics and -- afternoon replace that would just one guy."

Play from 2:52[2:52]" That may be true but I think more of a loss is on the emotional side because you know run it's always. -- that type of fire personality in the locker room on the field. But on the field -- I think I might after agree with what Andy has said recently about this and that. But the waiver and mayor weather's been playing you think he's leading the team in interceptions right now yet. And James Sanders may be more naturally suited to playing that position that Runyan played more close at the line of scrimmage. I don't think it was a heck of a lot talent wise on the field with those two guys. Depth wise they certainly do but if I just talk about those two guys playing almost every down now. I think they'll be pretty good shape."

Play from 3:31[3:31]" And that's not to say. That suddenly James Sanders is Rodney Harrison is going to blitz off the edge with a sack and then be picking off passes rod these numbers in his production are. Unprecedented he's the only guy that's ever done the combination of coverage blitzing the quarterback line of scrimmage ever -- that thirty having he's -- 32 sacks 34 picks whatever. He's the only guy in that category so. That's not to say that they don't miss anything but I do think in those two players it allows them to fall into roles that maybe they're more naturally suited in the skills."

Play from 4:03[4:03]" But at the big thing too is this is a real big transition -- Meriweather and -- really paid next to a three months because. He was -- and here possibly as the Rodney Harrison replacement when he was drafted. And now at Paris and be done for the year and possibly done for his career I think the way Meriweather plays from here on out. Could determine what this team does in the offseason in terms of roster moves -- what they gonna do with safety going forward."

Play from 4:24[4:24]" Yet I mean in an ideal situation -- Well that last ten games it was really good we are set at safety for the next. X number of years because those two guys are young -- the system they play well together they communicate because I do think that is better and -- you talk about the leadership in the fired everything. I think they're better suited now because of the experience and because of everything that's been said about those two guys they're better suited than when. It just all fell apart without Harrison here three years ago four years ago when they had to bring in Artrell Hawkins to move and and -- and cornerback he was a calming for perfect point what I am talking about. As I said I don't think they lose anything on on the surface in terms of the starters because Meriweather Sanders have been starting. But -- not replacing Rodney which Sanders or merry way. You replace him with -- Lewis Sanders boy. -- wants Dan Wheeler whoever else they decide the third safety. That's Rattay replaced because you had three safeties now you only have -- well they -- it's I don't I think Dallas and and I think it's just going to alter their nickel and -- exactly I think is interesting I don't know I think Illinois is going -- primarily to and I think you're replacing -- with -- not with Meriweather -- Sanders -- think will -- Sanders -- Fine. I'm not real -- Mike Richardson got a lot of playing time on it here's a look at Thornton may possibly be -- slide into more. Productive role maybe more full time basis as a nickel back I do think Sanders is the guy moving forward but he's banged up and that's why. You're going to see him he limited in practice hasn't been out there so you won't get a full picture of what the secretary might be. Com for a couple weeks now possibly but I think he's the guy is a safety corner hybrid type player like maybe a Meriweather has been over the last. You know six games and beginning of the season where he's been playing a variety roles in the slot deep middle of the field different things and -- Sanders is most likely next in line for that that's."

Play from 6:22[6:22]" And one of the things are not going to see at least that doesn't appear to be at this point is what you referred to India from a few years ago them bringing free agents and and signing guys. A name that has come up a lot this week from fans ran into us was John Lynch a roster full. And and that that was bills answered basically much that when that question came up in his press conference so looks like they're pretty happy with what they have right now on a minute they're going to make do with that."

Play from 6:47[6:47]" So we will find out. It's not to say that they're not going to be. Worse off for BCD -- but I think they're better suited than ever and ever have been in the past during other Harris and injuries to deal with this loss and has Mike said. On there's a good chance I think this is the end for Rodney Harrison as a major injury was reported one -- Claude. Tom I think would be difficult from for anybody to come back from. But a guy who's already come back from major knee injury. Whose 35 years old whose contract was already running out so it's not you know he'd actually have to get somebody who has Patriots or someone else to sign him and give him a job. I just think all the pieces come together this is probably last week will see you so much especially propose that said. Okay now it's back to the weekend for a minute because obviously last Friday we can't talk about that happens it. Laurence Maroney is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Shoulder injury that's been bothering him all season. And I guess this is apparently the issues he was dealing with when he -- you guys out on the west coast. On and in conjunction with that before early guys are discussing it LaMont Jordan and Sammy -- still injured Morse goes out first half. -- after 130 yards against the Broncos has missed practice all week. Month Jordan's still dealing with a cap issue so Paul Perillo talk about the lack of depth at this point right now running let me just add that -- FL network report today that says -- two to three weeks. So. Take that report for what it's -- face value whatever knows them like. Yeah I mean obviously the depth there. That you thought was going to be want to -- once again Belichick has always. Stepped in August doesn't always translate to depth in November or December or even October. At this as a Halloween and athletic that they remind me during the pre season. When you talk ball is running back with night at the ball on the earth and again. It's like saying -- too -- pitching. It always takes care itself I think here we are so address bring the Red Sox have six starters what are we going to -- three guys -- out already out I mean obvious minorities the loss while he was out there playing he wasn't really producing -- minute tackle for loss. I'm obviously more concern about Sammy Morris going board because he had a big scheme against Denver decaf rather. And he has played well in that backup role finale wouldn't Jordan's are ready to come back on Sunday. Who's going to run off going to be Kevin ball and been Jarvis Green you miss about Boris I think I think the players and teammates miss this as we -- but this team still I think searching for an identity. And offensively still searching for an identity and Matt Cassel. I think there's a chance they could turn into that run run throw identity that we've talked about if they approach recent weeks. And it seems like the fullback Heath Evans -- the offensive linemen like Sammy the bull -- got all the -- because you hand him the ball and he runs into somebody and usually get somewhere between four and seven yards. And I think they've really really like that and I think that's not just the seven yards they missed but. The -- he gets the seven yards in the way he puts their blocks usually block and right now right now right as it has always -- right you really get that -- is going to beat I like it Matt Light -- but that'll cabinet and I came in and I think. There's something to that and you know -- Jarvis Green Ellis did a nice job in the second half becomes an and they said that things about him being in similar runner doesn't dance Josh mcdaniels talked about it doesn't -- knows what he is doesn't try to be something is not gets to the hole it -- it's it. But I feel like they really likes anymore when he carries the ball like yeah we're about we're all one unit you run the ball and and it's."

Play from 10:14[10:14]" It's kind of unfortunate that that's that that's being sent 'cause it's almost kind of yet backhanded. Slap that Laurence Maroney Wright who I took all the comments that same way right who who who was all who was known to be a little bit of a dancer who didn't always hit the hole. You work and it sure what you have with them most of the time. Obviously they don't have to deal with that aspect of the running game the rest of the year. So. If you want to look at the bright side yet they have a guy like. Morris they have Jordan. Who. By all. My own occasional will probably be back soon I think and -- of guys it was a back so eventually. But that was one and that the encouraging signs -- thought. The other day about the injuries was that. We kind of all expected Harrison's news to come and it did. And I was a little bit ward when marched in comeback in the second half that we're going to get that news as well kinda like last year when he had the big game against Cincinnati and in Dallas he gets hurt and is out for the rest of the -- the fact that he didn't and that he's still listed on the injury report tells me that it's. It's not as bad a situation and then we'll see him again. And -- in Paul's right about that and -- on network report and FL network report opponents."

Play from 11:30[11:30]" Asante right. Yeah I think they're both going to be back and I think you need him to be back I think it's a nice story when one Heath Evans gives you eighty yards like -- get a couple years ago orbit and Jarvis Green Els gives you 654. Hall's old friend Robbie Abdul scores a touchdown in a reserve role but not -- in front and in the bottom line is you need somebody who you can go to a game and say. I can give him the ball twenty times by need to and LaMont Jordan's in -- I think are that. Kevin Faulk Heath Evans -- Jarvis Green Ellis -- I don't think that say about Green-Ellis. We got produces. Let's look at his career he was at Indiana. Thousand yards thousand yards the coaches -- transfers goes all this thousand yards thousand yards doesn't get drafted don't want to bottle block comes to camp. Patriots get the chance he rushed 65 yards in the second half so. I mean not. McCartney was horse I saw during the summer but he did a nice job produces and -- you know Sammy Morris wasn't all that impressive until we got here and impressed. And if they're describing Benjarvis Green-Ellis in sort of the same way that he just takes the yards that are there those were the holes going to be hits it uses his power just tries to get what he can get. You know maybe he's going to be a Sammy Morris -- that. We see and get opportunities ago. He's now that pretty and it doesn't you know doesn't look all that good but he gets the four yards in you know if if they can get that out of him will be another in the long line of you know injuries and guys step and so. That's something to keep an eye on the rest of the injury report. Eric Alexander returned to practice. Kelley Washington returned to practice. On some of the guys that are out -- obviously Jordan and Maurice. Crable -- Vasher returned to the practice field today was out there although they are in sweat pants and just trying to. Half walk through after practice mode so the help right now is a question like it is for all teams as -- asked is this more entries than ever. -- but the Patriots will continue to do what they do and that's deal with them and will continue to do we do not talk about the injuries and how they affect the roster. The 53 men take the field every week. And we -- about our group we always do. Says something about her value to this team all right that's going to go -- an ex --"
