[43:24] ..." We ask you something like about Shawn Crable -- he's been around in the that this quote leave the only. List every week yeah inactive. To not play and so"...
[1:17:16] ..." to be up on the top right now. I still think the New York Giants are probably top to bottom the best team in pro football right now. As a unit for the Giants right up there"...
[1:26:55] ..." It is Ryan Lilja. Coming off he would he would any time."...
[1:27:00] ..." though Ryan hasn't been able to get out there as quickly as Tyjuan Hagler and now we're still kind of fighting through things with him we have -- activated and yet -- we've we hope to"...
[0:00]" It was stolen guns though some -- and I'll -- want to go odd quiet. That they've won an error excuse Patriots we will go back on combat odd -- it's unfair yeah it's good. When he got -- on -- game for me. And these -- for the great. Right at the rest of the 2008. NFL. And some of the points W between now here's John. I'm Patriots played well. -- back and play both forward Wednesday from Patriots dot com radio I'm John -- we got a lot to get two at -- get ready for. The Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night it's on at Lucas Oil deal were Lucas Oil stadium which is it like Randy we've known -- stadium. I'm not even on the end up."
[1:04]" They'll go on here what's that look good now. -- it work now we work now via a that's -- dinner back there is that Garrett Hideki I have no idea who is hitting it's -- and I believe it's Lucas Oil field John that's what I thought it was. I think for a and around -- today greatly appreciate well you know when you go in the locker -- they get none of the guys who want to talk to you have a lot of free time your hands -- guys that I have today so what what what. And I don't know John it was a real. -- what I'm looking for lame Wednesday in the locker room today not a lot of bodies in there at all well and should. Preface by saying that the guys I needed its occupants of errors and I was working on -- on the defensive backs and players in the secondary a couple of running back throughout there's that that the guys were doing or is. On those topics for me. Not so much. So got to wait another day and try to get -- out on -- so today. Don't have any transcribed and do I go there's 3 o'clock called out the -- and they went 9 genre whether or not we're aware are you today by the way I'm in my home studio in the basement. Yeah now. Pretty much. Like it though I know what you're on location or --"
[2:14]" No -- not on location today just typical Wednesday around the -- council. Is -- a ticker a lot of mind you know production needs and all that kind of stuff and so just happens it is to work out of my schedule Wheldon. Do it from my home studio on Wednesday so there you -- If you have the luxury you play with a lonetree that's the way it works -- speaking. And I wish I could say you know that the -- had turned up better for you but if we all know in this business sometimes you get sometimes you don't most often you don't. And what it that's exactly right. I guess off the top then at least in terms of book some of the news ago we had -- an email question biggest baskets of all Ross course Patriots. Released him later in the day yesterday were you surprised at all -- news."
[2:57]" A little bit but at same time he has opener for awhile and perhaps his progress has been done -- by the fact that he hasn't on the field and a couple of years. Well John I think the development of Marco for. Filling in nick as -- tackles was a factor in that decision. Well or has played well today. Villain role. For catcher and you look at the last couple weeks he started and we talked about it I'm PFW progress you know seeing a lot of Russians come merit titles and as you did he with -- so critical for a -- did not have American -- or perhaps they would have -- back. And maybe Tyrus you know I don't work him in the lineup and how both -- out there now I don't think I think Ross beat him --"
[3:37]" Well I I'm I'm curious to know build it and I think you you brought out some of that it was eventually going to be you know. Up on the topic of discussion today -- but because of the fact they have looked for in their largely for catcher. Wider kind of aiming away from the right sided whether or not the Patriots are becoming too predictable in the run game."
[3:54]" No I don't think that the case at all I just think what happened here with this situation of Boris played well. And he has value on special teams wild and out or not having special team guy is a much bigger guy. Doesn't move all that well as special team are Garner are anything on the way to return unit and -- has experience. At those spots any -- and make them a good bit here and plus here's a guy who hasn't been heard how long he's already vaulted ahead of guys like Wesley Britt. And others who had been in the system and can't in the on the field I think it -- I don't know McLemore on."
[4:26]" Okay the other issue course has to do with the Vince Wilfork visitors we talked. Briefly about yesterday because we didn't really know what to expect his -- visit with the commissioner Roger Goodell in New York yesterday and apparently. It went at least as well as could be expected. Pro football talk dot com -- initially reported that he will not. Be suspended by Goodell -- guess that's good news all the was awaiting to hear about a fine well I think."
[4:51]" Probably the best case -- air that there is no mention this particular here and I think Wilfork came away from the thinking. That -- well -- He had a really good conversation with Goodell and Goodell that know him a little bit and they both kind of the cover -- they were coming front. And I think ballpark medical and with the impression that no matter what I am screwed here. But I think you went in there and I think he he talked pretty good game and Goodell whatever reasons that hey you know what. Okay am I'm I'm on board you hear any kind of told them you know I'll back on the extra curricula up after the that's the biggest thing. No hitting after the whistles like off a bit tighter rein it in and and will work hard nosed player -- guy who lobby it's after it very intent. Andy plays a position where he -- had a lot to get beat up so there are -- time where frustrations at -- and I'm sure he. That's on a couple of things he was he could take back and maybe this one is one of those instances but whatever. Political -- not going to get batted it seems at least at this week I don't know anything on the road. Now as a fine not so much -- big -- I don't think anybody really -- on an out there on Sunday and called -- think that's that important thing."
[5:58]" Right there's a transcript of his conversation or at least his while remembrance of the conversation with the bill on the globe global global site. And one quote those kind of interesting. And asking him if he rethink his style of play and his quote was I play hard and that's one thing I stressed to him. I'm very passionate about the game sometimes it might be too hard. And I told him that we'll go from here I told him try to change my style up a little bit and hopefully get a better slate. Right now I got a pretty bad one out there. So I think he's acknowledging. At least in this particular instance he's acknowledging you don't the reputation he's kind of starting to build up. Being you know a player of some show always say ill repute."
[6:46]" The legal lot of players in the league think he's a dirty player that that's the bottom line you can't Konerko. And he has racked up a lot of buying and his reputation does precede him. And it's hard for him the blame anybody but in -- and and -- his credit he hasn't run any you out there are blame anybody else. I don't think -- changes I'll play you can continue to be aggressive and played in the way you've always played on the whistle blows. That's it. Don't don't elbow anybody they had don't don't pull anybody in the eyes went through that up to try to rein in a bit when the whistle blows and in you'll be okay annual get flagged for the penalty."
[7:21]" Well do you get the sense then that and I don't know I guess this sort of generic question in and maybe the fans could do feel free to a it was their two cents on this and as well but. In the sense that Roger Goodell is trying to over legislate. Or has he just or has the league under legislated for too long to where now it seems like over doing it in terms and it's an individual place."
[7:44]" Why the because -- Quarterback. And -- in the past are those of the penalties that the big problem with that the league for years always oral legislated that. And I talk and on the field in terms of the officials I think a lot of calls -- but that definition altogether I -- think I look at -- the -- In terms of ways to not -- you can have a medium between protecting quarterback. And also calling fairly. And a lot times on the call fairly but. Yeah I -- the trying to do here at Wilfork I think here's a player who has a reputation and he committed this. This is Bol after the whistle the Broncos had tape of it and in illegally that's okay we need to talk about this -- I -- KE maybe using somebody as an example you a look at that -- that -- kind of going to be the Guinea -- journalist. By. Yet and that had to be done about -- after the way that can't become a problem and even if it's not a big problem now you think -- over react and if he'll let it go that it can become a big prominent arena all of those penalties you don't get any sense that the players knocking off."
[8:48]" Here's what I think I think this is along the same lines though how fans hated Rodney Harrison when he was played against him. But you know certainly fans in San Diego New England loved him when he was on their team more -- Vince Wilfork is starting to turn out to be that kind of player because quite frankly. I think we all know this if you've ever been in the trenches or -- you've been on the sideline and you've seen what goes on in the trenches. It's not pretty its dirty so much more goes on and people seem to talk about why. It's because the guys generally keep to themselves -- while somebody squeals. It everywhere while he'll look how catalytic -- off his backside like water off the ducks back you don't -- okay so what somebody grabbed me in the you know what's while we were in the rugby -- no big deal it happens all the time. This is what I'm thinking. Vince Wilfork he started getting in the heads of some of the players on the other side and when you get in their head. You've got an advantage."
[9:43]" Yes that's a possibility I think it's the nature of the position that John enemy to playing in the trenches like -- had a lot of dirty up close on the bottom it piles of pure that we don't eat. Seen -- time it is not a use among the -- hit. And things of that nature mean some point cooler -- Australia to walk away apartment for the good team. Sure is because of -- stupid -- like Glavine yard out right -- bush team a critical down our possession right and Sammy out to be a big part of the game. Right on the flip side of that you mention that these players the fans are likely you're right -- Vince Wilfork and your team you love them they're Rodney Harrison on your team you love and if not the medium. And that's how it is and did you sign one of those guys you know not -- bad after island and that's -- it always works out is no question."
[10:28]" Well if you're if you're trying to put out a physical presence. If you want to be known as a team that you know -- will will back itself up so to speak with physical. Play as well as with words or what have you been. That's what you what you get these guys and so I think in a sense Vince Wilfork is kind of I don't know I won't say he's been past the -- because the two players on the field the same time but he's going to be picking up now and will be a focal point for a lot of opposing teams. On the offense whereas Rodney Harrison was that focal point Vince is not pretty much going to carry that mantle I think."
[11:00]" You know whether he may be getting in other people that have -- time in of the game and -- it. And they can pay him and are responding well no that's that your that's a good point and and that's where I'm hoping. Are through his conversation with Roger Goodell yesterday will convince him that you know what. I'm kind of trip and very very fine line here maybe I do need dialed it down right it's not worth it keeps mouthing off or or getting a little bit of at the end you know what. As -- at some point can't retaliate and get in the get that caused that penalty and I think that's what these other players want unique and go after a guy. Who may have a short fuse and again do something stupid and we get an extra fifteen yards out of it. I had no doubt in my mind that's on the player that's on the mind of a lot of players at certain points in the game."
[11:44]" Absolutely absolute well for the time being at least. Vince Wilfork is going to play on Sunday night we don't know if a fine could be in the offing but as you know as we yeah I don't think I think you can -- Yeah his cost his team roster on out east and were without his availability so I guess that's a that's a positive thing in the right direction. Arm in terms of injuries oh we also hear from the Indianapolis camp this week that that both Joe dye and Bob Sanders should be. Should be ready to play on Sunday and I can't say that I'm shocked and surprised about that and and I can also tell you that -- frankly if you're going to play the Colts. In this this Colts team was three and four and I heard his detail of -- a little bit of the Taylor to whichever talk about -- POW but frankly. If the Patriots win this game I'm not sure if you're gonna get the proper. Credit for winning it. So if you're gonna play this game you must play it. -- on the other side completely healthy isn't the first time all of the few times this year that everybody has been held on the Colts side."
[12:42]" Yeah I agree that we just talked about that talent show and how. Outsiders are going to per -- victory at the pats do -- and -- well these -- team calls three and or these aren't that you are not -- of those seven Euro today. It's not same offense came -- fans and it it got to get some of that some degree. The same time it's a victory to be proud are Garza who's out there that this team has been open down here. And that we don't know we're gonna get on a week to week base and any time they can get away and you gotta be happy about it. When -- Mac has not there -- many other injury you taking anything for granted. I think the casual fans on the the fans of other teams may do so it is because of the Colts 34 record now with Sanders and -- Part of a -- made a bigger impact because they've been so bad. In the running game on both sides of the ball at at the irony of all this without and is it clearly struggled trying to stop -- run. Did a nice job Monday against Tennessee but overall not Opteron and then on the flip side the Dominic Rhodes is not done it done and they're near the bottom the league now on the running game. And it acted guys out there you have at least some semblance of -- respectable running game where maybe the pack at the put a guy on him in. Maybe that a couple of guys in the box and you least respect the run enough to not be able to attack meaning. The entire game I think if if -- out there I go out demanding all day I don't respect their running game without without guys."
[14:04]" Well even with a dial I'm not sure that the Patriots I mean certainly you have to respect where he is because nobody really knows if he's. If he's out there on the field nobody knows what his health level is on the yet the soon to be -- like well -- wouldn't be out there right a 100% but LDB -- Well and and and that's what you have to kind of way because I'm just I'm just thinking here out loud but frankly I think I want to go after Peyton Manning anyway regardless of Addai and his. His capabilities -- because we know we have given. We we haven't given in Peyton Manning's less than 110%. -- We know he's out of some what give B leg we know -- timing to his receivers have been off slightly. You know going into this thing you want to do whatever he can to disrupt that timing especially. Especially with the fact that you got a secondary that is green at best banged up as well."
[14:54]" I agree and ending with with Manning and try to put pressure on him -- because he gets hurt the ball quickly and he's not panic as a back there whole -- and take a lot of sack out. If you won that danger getting beat on some big plays as well but like you had their line -- not blocked particularly well here as he struggles -- And I agree with you his mobility is a little bit of an issue it in terms of his ability to step up in the pocket. And avoid those oncoming rush has now built it's is Lee is not taking a lot act. But is taken a lot of it. So they they are getting to him but he continues to get rid of the ball."
[15:29]" I think we've we've seen where hits. Number of hits on the quarterback and in the we have some personal experience this can certainly pay dividends in the long run as opposed to outright sacks. Long was your couldn't you know you know a physical presence on the quarterback's body eventually it's going to wear him down and maybe even -- him out. I agree I think -- that these -- it is against -- overrated yeah acute by pressure. QQB nature or pressure but QBH if you received the stat line quarterback it's a thing to me that's a much more effective statistic in terms of for the kind of pressure you put on. On a quarterback so I'd say they watch the naked guy. And and watch how many times quarterback has ever of the ball quickly because of the oncoming -- how many times has a roll around scramble and -- life. That that's the way to judge pass not -- acts are. Sure on the it should be I guess. Getting a little bit better been -- that you mention the -- the Colts. I know that double Tony you bill and Jeff Saturday were back in the lineup and this past week against Tennessee so having another game under the belt is certainly going to help them get more to where they would have hoped to have them."
[16:35]" Yet they're a little -- helping out front and Manning has not getting to build like he was earlier in the year. Animal ought to a couple of games start and without narrative the garage of the middle was -- and make enough topic that that definitely. An improvement -- step in the right direction and -- guard. And ya they go back to say you know when you when you -- Manning. It's a little bit more difficult to do Sony has an effective running game. Busy and sick. And Joseph Addai by the lions' image in his nobody in the backfield tackle and it's going to be a fifteen to when he play when you don't have that same -- running threat. I think you can attack more now worrying about and got in high -- and offer something where you any topic like that means the biggest difference it. They always say you know with every great quarterback you got to the got to pressure him he had hit me gotta hit them but it doesn't always corporate guys and asking her to the ball and our guys. Have a better running game either side. Meaning right now has only half of that. All he has right now is his ability -- the ball -- and I have a running game -- guys out there on Sunday."
[17:36]" Right absolutely I guess the other sort of intriguing thing about this is his them. If you have all these pieces of the puzzle in place. What the papers and defensively -- correctly mentioned that you know we we'd certainly like to see and I think there would be in the previous game plan to. Put pressure on Manning but then that leaves that soft underneath side available guy like and I can repeal all day and I want to of the Patriots might not try to post and different to a nickel packages or maybe even a dime package in there just changed things up."
[18:02]" They have to play a lot of nickel because I don't think you can afford to leave too many guys back there 11 and -- and a half that ate up over the top. And all they got to ask somebody to shadow -- Clark. Who has made a lot of big plays in the past and the tough thing about it this week is -- Aaron. Who is usually a guy who is allred now Clark right and I had a matchup pitchers who's guarding him understand him. And we talked about that -- in the previous who are going to be Brandon Meriweather. Could -- linebacker on him I doubt that. They would need a physical say Ian probably -- in the -- would be Meriweather. But it stopped it there a lot of tough matchup now on the injuries. And I do think -- have to play a lot of nickel but the going to have to rush in the -- put pressure on him this do we do it on you can just and the dog. And hope they get there or he could to keep everybody back. And hope that nobody gets opened my my -- right now is what's your what's your strength right now. It is definitely your past are Soviet secondary residence and at the pass rush has been. They're a better -- out in the secondary I don't care how many guys you have back there if -- the guys were talking about now. Eventually -- I get open and Manning has called it. And that's the problem eating keep guys that -- go ahead but somebody's going to beat will it and I'm going to be -- Ali or Mike Richards. And -- so you give Manning too much time even if you had a defensive back. Lined up and in playing deep. Number matter whittled away opening it up though that this really Italy it kind of pick your poison. You think about what you want to do and -- Right well look around older because defensively I think we would expect that the Colts would come after Matt Cassel -- over the -- disrupt his newfound rhythm -- we expect them. Yet they don't that a heavy blitz team but they have to and -- talked about already yeah yep Matheson yeah Freeney and right pretty good over the past two with a better edge -- out on demon in any. On any team in the league and Matt played extremely well green has comeback complete a lot better but he was apparent limited the Ramo he's out. But Peter and he would what he's got in the tank. It's it's tough match of a match of Matt Light and then I'll go from article or big test him now because you deal with speed guys and guys. So you look I been Alomar has going into the match without think. He's been out that last week going up again we had St. Louis and and Denver before that and think -- Denver's defense -- up. He hasn't faced anybody that can -- that he's and see and they whether it's Freeney on one match the other the other big thing that's. That's the one matchup that worries me the most about this game is probably met this communal -- it you can look for yes and me it's going to be a big key to the game. And you know you can't knock Dwight Freeney on the back to that that's a tough one well they all had to be accounted for. And it's going to be difficult given the Prez now out there and given a matchup problem that's why would you look at the game. Even -- to three and four -- team. I think -- Better match -- on there either with other teams we've seen you know we Deborah Kendrick came in here now what Angela Bourne ones coming in here I think -- right but they match up. You know -- the matchup was there. What this team it's a better match COLT not an early suggest that there -- in the game but they're much better match up much more favorable ones on their side in the Bronco that. Are -- have had a better record."
[21:26]" I would absolutely agree with that which is why it's kind of silly to look at the record think. All of this ought to be you know a cakewalk for the Patriots far from -- and -- you and I talked a little -- yes they might go with about how you know the culture. Going to be a little like the Chargers were few weeks ago you know they're going to have their backs right into the corner at three and four on the season they pretty much already had a kiss goodbye the division titles and now they gotta get back and winning streak. Just to be in the running for a wild cards."
[21:52]" Well let's you and head coach right -- that is law -- I couldn't believe me he's right but I Q did you ever coached that I'll always screwed grip we're competing for -- cart. At on a good route I am very surprised dungy would come out -- yeah add this agreement. I don't get that. I do create your husband that this is a desperate team in need of a win. How much of a factor that plays I mean he's seen bill is that -- that any kind of down played -- you know I've every week different. Every week challenged and really take the -- on that one. But I do think they're on the to have an emotional sample and plus -- home though they get out they score a couple of touchdowns early and it came at the desperately needed a crowd get behind it. Can be along night. Well that's what you know kept hoping. If you're aware that I made I -- I think that -- or. When you're on the road. In other words and went winds and he thought quickly against you against you -- when the road course yet this the more crowd noise and an average speed author it would need your home it happened."
[22:58]" Easier to overcome if you're at home -- on the road no doubt that. And you know I think you know you have George dive back here if in on offense. If you have Bob Sanders back there on the -- returning. Those are two big huge factors in the colts' favor and course where we know that and we -- about the goes being pet peeve of mine yesterday but it. If the papers and when the tossed a pick in the football Alou and there's no way there's actually no it's going to defer. I mean I again I see the reasoning but of all things. You want to shut the crowd up and you want the Colts to be playing from behind I want the football and I want to try to score first and get them down."
[23:39]" If you don't benefit yet the only benefit -- deferring to me is the chance to have back to back possessions. At the end of one happened aren't the next but like I am sure I understand -- right secondly. The other thing is possibly being able to -- to control the win. Having the winning you're back in the fourth quarter as opposed to driving into the -- in the fourth annual it ends on you can kind of controlled that pace on the condition. I get that nobody has more to be at the coming out you had taken the ball. And starting -- and that's it. While I I think the positives. To take in the kick off borrowing and no question. And -- in the -- and I think everybody -- on -- The -- on any kind of -- time and effort and has been the case at all I think coach at -- that you and I do. You you want the momentum or get the ball give you -- often go there. There's a game all about woman definitely as opposed to be about it momentum emotional game you know a lot of emotion on both sides geyser. Nash into each other in you know they can pay off and on tee shot there body and an emotional football game momentum plays a huge role."
[24:50]" No doubt web radio at Patriots dot com -- email address -- like to join the program in -- it was a phone call it Bible 8543. 7482. -- really thought too much about them. Individual items talk about -- jobs been kind of voted to try to ball actually on. The Colts you know to try to get up on the Colts a little bit because I find them a great -- In term of you know what kind of team we can reasonably expect I've seen them play on television a couple of times. -- watched obviously most of the Tennessee game you know this this past Monday night and I'm thinking one how -- Tennessee can win the game I mean. Even when it went when the with the Titans were down. I started to feel like you know what I thought that the Colts were a team. That might hold on here in actually my son and I were watching the game together and he's like -- real hard you know for the Titans to come back like why would you want to do so I don't -- you want the Colts Stabile picked -- Playing desperately -- the Colts to win here and take a little about others opened the hangover from a groin and hit -- he has got his response though was you know well frankly -- because I don't want them to gain any momentum. And frankly you know I thought that was actually pretty good comeback."
[26:06]" Well funny because there have been a couple of occasions this year or thought the team in the corner United. They had a big comeback against Houston in the blowout Baltimore the following week you know -- got -- the old Colts and you know two point two games. And it's a complete clunker they -- Green Day at Lambeau Field till 3414 game is even close. And in the following week a chance again to turn the quantity at the lead against an undefeated tennis he. -- in the fourth courting you know you're you're you're on the road and I our environment and then you get the game -- because you can't convert on fourth and one. -- Do short yardage situations on fourth down -- I mean jump ball literally. They'll figure that the way elderly but. You know that that's how the game's long you know that day they had it -- continued around the clock and cannot do so. And once has he got the ball in court and how big big and that things to come back in an remain undefeated Marshall were lost at Indianapolis. The pop we get back on on their feet again that would have been three wins in four games coming off -- So perhaps it had reason think okay they pick -- things at the by. In week four and now the starter -- and other coming back."
[27:19]" Anything happen there. Yet you look at what they've done and obviously the open target Chicago was you know I don't know how you can excuse. That they squeezed by at Minnesota and again in the could have easily lost probably should have. They lost the game to Jacksonville that you know that could've won. They want -- hill I came on offense penalty yes they did essentially. They want to Houston which was an inexplicable win as well Houston should mean that was that was. One of those coming the Houston game. In the Minnesota game or two wins this team this team could be public one and 51 in six. And so that leads me to believe they're very close to being really. Really a long way out of so you have to -- about the overall self worth and quality all the team that is that close to being only one went."
[28:06]" On the net that is let a couple of games they have won they are close that you could flip flop and take one of the games -- one of those games hit and miss it again you'll lose game but they if you Jacksonville they have the team record mean right. Well at best I think that you before and three rather than 34 air but at worst they can be won and yes. There a few plays here and there naked pretty -- yeah."
[28:28]" Well it's one of science so. Again I'm largely looking at this team as a team has struggled mightily yes. Injuries have played apart but we also -- that enters a platoon partner in new England and nobody yet at least as you know using that as an excuse we you know the Patriots -- excuse that lost the NFL MVP Brett. You know a lot at all in the bowl player in the league early that's exactly right and there are still Ivins who. Goal you know at least when he cut it like that. You can see the Patriots certainly should have you know more than a fair chance I think that. To win on the road it just depends on you know momentum it depends on the emotion of the game and you know -- the ebb and flow back and forth. Whether you turn the ball over and whether you can get the jump on a team on the road which I think is very very important to do. And the emotion that the other team plays with -- we've already talked about I think that will be a huge key. You know on now on Saturday night or Sunday night as to whether or not the Colts come on play like -- team you know that is."
[29:23]" Backed into corner I -- is there that are really do I just think Indianapolis reeling right now and I'm not confident that they're going to be on a healthy unit and guys come back to lineup that they're not going to infielder he. Adding to accomplish big factor like the way date you know me I'm a big. Believer in how teams are won or lost at the line scrimmage -- and the cold I've been dreadful. [34:31]" It's. We continue with our favorite -- whirlwind day John road with my ranking from Patriots football weekly in the studio to look. Gotta look over what has going on with the Patriots and of course the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts sum United -- Mitchell field in Indianapolis. Arm before we get back to was some of the other room issues that we were discussing -- be remiss if I didn't -- the preliminary list. For the 2009. A pro football Hall of Fame is out the world 110. Players. On the preliminary list while there's a long way to go where you get cut them but yes there were a couple of book. Patriot players expatriate players that were wrote -- least on the initial. List for the -- nine Hall of Fame. And I want to just make note of them here and give me you know basically your thoughts when you know they think they have a snowballs chance -- you know what wide receiver Stanley Morgan. He made the list but -- competition comes up against cliff branch Harold Carmichael Cris Carter. Wes Chandler Gary Clark Isaac Curtis and retailer Irving fryer former Patriot offense but. No Dan Klecko analyst Roy. Green -- herald Sharpe fifth. The softly yeah that's tough but we had -- right. And coach made the coach made the tide endless right with competition and it. And Russ Francis made the cut out so they -- made -- tight -- this with both -- Christians and Brent Jones and Steve Jordan. So you know frankly I think there's an opportunity there you know for one of those tight ends to perhaps a -- not."
[36:07]" I think more an opportunity for Stanley Morgan talking about the Patriot players on this -- right now -- a competition because. I think the main competition golden crowded and I don't think coach is all pain or I think he's a borderline hall of Famer. Maybe down the road -- get in but I don't think right now on the ballot no I would say Morgan would have a better chance. -- you know big player -- your. I open up big numbers -- as opposed to one of the tight ends. Yes I think so yes I was. Well -- my take -- I don't. Yeah. I -- talking -- go to. Yeah France's Cote and they don't have to take a tight end of -- consider the competition it is a green coats and Francis to me. That's an element. Coach and out. But I think the violence -- I think more time over a three or four years and I don't think it. The longevity in the of the -- Morgan was more fighting but I could you know to be wrong. Number two to them right in oh. Off the top at. I would I would still take Morgan."
[37:23]" We did obviously puts Dana Morgan in to the whole thing in a Patriot place this last year so perhaps he has a little bit of that moment norm for him. Defensively the only Patriot that I saw on that list was cornerback Raymond Claiborne. And he's amongst 12. 345678910111213. Defensive back on the -- and well. Who is -- that over the -- Eric Allen. Steve Atwater. Kenny -- Lester Hayes. Donnie Shell and you know that's pretty good company right there that is the shot away it's. That group."
[38:04]" Interest that's not an overwhelming group I think. In terms of -- he would be. Right at the bottom automatically in his shot and active yeah and -- as -- by anyway I just wanted to pass that out is that it's a big long list -- how many fans had a chance actually. Take a look at it but -- with a wooden kind of and cleaned out some of the an interesting names of their the B a Patriot players the former pitcher players players that'd been at least some time in New England. If not most of their careers in the wind and who are up for -- the class of 2009. The other thing I want to two touch on it is to go back to Vince Wilfork formal because. The story did appear on it espn.com by way of the Associated Press just short while ago. It says here that Wilfork will. -- find but not suspended by the NFL. As a result of his meeting yesterday with Roger Goodell. Bomb it also says here that the NFL the far declined comment officially. Because fines and suspensions are normally announced on Friday right so the guess would be here that will will find out where the other sprite."
[39:08]" Yeah I'm not surprised though I think given what will work at about the meeting between two. That Goodell backed down a bit in about it or reduce it to -- and mention -- The way to story was reported we thought it was chewing you mention. And our debate whether you could appeal and take names and later a human want to do. And I think if he had been spent into it and why take this one with all these division games coming up. Those are really important when they come home after the trip on Sunday. That's the meat of the schedule right there with with Buffalo come to town Miami and -- coming later to out. Though the bigger games down the stretch obvious it is a tight division race and you can't afford at key players missing. Because of pensions when your plane try to winners."
[39:55]" Absolutely correct. We mentioned just before the break about the possibility of some players returning to lineup of course there have been some. From a nation that Sammy Morris -- knee was not his dinged up is as originally thought that I know that you mention this it was mention on the website here that the Sammy is hoping to return. They -- which. We don't really know what kind of a timeframe as soon as possible means but he was not on the year up. Field during the media access portion of practice today it wasn't."
[40:23]" No LaMont Jordan 1 yes that -- signed with the Patriots because like who keep saying the last couple times -- on the together they need one of those two guys come back right. And become a top workload for Kevin Faulk and then Jarvis Green Ellis to carry that on their own. You have a third guy in the article LaMont Jordan who's now your change of pace back. And -- big difference I don't think Jordan's elite back by any stretch anymore as to come back and get the ball -- if you with a guy that's the probably going to be -- we I think at least. The original report to me it was about two to three week. And the -- that was that was wicked little right in the globe had a report it kind of back up that claim solo might -- he -- out this weekend. And maybe even on tomorrow. Maybe even one more. But that Beckett -- to them that could change on that Wednesday before the Buffalo game knowing him out there -- field. And then it -- as close. But LaMont Jordan is apparently back as he was out of practice today was a great step in the right direction I guess you know he'd probably make his return Sunday. -- is a little bit of a boost in the running game."
[41:28]" You know certainly couldn't hurt I did notice that another player that was not on the field today. It was Lewis Sanders so it's -- in Ellis Hobbs was also not out there after I guess digging up his shoulder. Obama against of the Rams this past weekend and it could be some problematic. If I -- wonderful of those guys are gone."
[41:47]" Hobbs after the game that he be okay though by all indications he should be okay I think this maybe precautionary. More so than anything else we don't really know about that yet on Sanders had impromptu thing on the field what is. Trouble for him because this opportunity actually go out there and play the only other injuries and he's been. I would say pretty key nickel back out there not great by but the -- the body Gerut probably can't really beat user at this point because they're -- And you have to have whoever's out there. I think by all standards they wouldn't want Terrence Wheatley to be the last guy out today. And would much rather have a Lewis -- out there and even a Mike Richardson who now is okay now healthy but I think -- get -- that would be a big addition. Just kind of keep your depth intact in terms of having Wheatley has that laugh out like that come off the bench that'd be the first -- often but he gets her. And that's the prominently and they rolled around and -- got hurt Wheatley had a committee and now he's here outside corner a really cause -- matchup problems that against you with. Davis who aren't nearly as good as -- young and in. You really don't want those particular -- don't want to have going to a particular sequence with Terrence -- cover Reggie Wayne could be here."
[43:02]" Could there be could could be scary and could be jury heard you have extra depth back there to take away -- that you would have for either nickel or -- look at what Al exactly well these guys straight up."
[43:12]" It to limit your options and terms of personnel groupings and strategy and everything else you want to do we don't have enough people physically. That's the biggest issue."
[43:24]" We ask you something like about Shawn Crable -- he's been around in the that this quote leave the only. List every week yeah inactive. To not play and so I'm wondering if you have any idea what his physical status might be and how much that actually keeping him from getting back on the field."
[43:44]" Well Crable on the field and all year he's been active for every game I don't think whatever injury he suffering right now isn't a problem because he hasn't played yet. Oh there was something along the way and at the commodity than a numbers game where. They've needed more help on the and I didn't had bigger questions on the interior among their linebackers on the night they had Vrabel the atomic. And they had other players. Here was wrapping up in camp and becoming you know I have a kind of a special there and down maybe he only plays about 10% of the net though but. He has small role. Whereas I -- area and you know a different story where they need guys who needed help. And that's why I think a guy Crable the early admiral or number games mean more of anything out."
[44:28]" Now so much during the pre season yet -- suggesting you know he's on been on the inactive list and and not on the field during at least media portions of BX portions of practice. You know and -- you know led to believe that you know maybe there's of the problem there that you know. Nobody for all of nobody's all period."
[44:45]" Well like I there is a problem now. And I wonder what it was before they kept them off the field for the first three -- four week that the because clearly wasn't physical that point -- the the first time he's been on the injure or. It's even more it clue as to what reminding. Could be development. I am looking at the numbers game have three better. Edge rusher in him right now and woods and Tom and and again field. Now -- him you know -- guy in. Who made the roster while they they need bodies and interior linebacker. -- until lightly and play."
[45:26]" How do you feel about so for about some of these that the younger guys in terms of their overall. Development and based on what you've seen of them and in talking to them how their fitting in and you know do they have some -- some longevity perhaps within the organization."
[45:41]" Oh yeah I mean clearly we know we're getting out of Mayo on you -- a team take every now and then and things on the way where you kind of remember that he is young. And it still has -- here but you also have other players why they committed just the Gary guy has been great. I'm not downplaying that and and interior linebackers honest job form. And he's played more and more the past week I think you're being kinda used bill Mayo at times and help preserve me out tonight had two guys. We hope they'll hit -- wall because not playing every now. Now the secondary has been kind of -- the Erica we -- a lot of deterrence really obvious we haven't seen yet. And on the field that much recently he has been because of injuries. This surprise ending to all of us the fact that Johnson well it was -- him. Now they are different that -- keep in mind that we it is an outside guy like guys though perhaps that he. Is dictating the playing time more than anything out but clear I think at this point that will play. Is ahead of Wheatley will -- on an okay job at times has looked a little bit off in coverage and beat. And member on at least two occasions and they were he to get beat while there are some. That's to be made in that regard and trezeguet on the other there. Later hasn't really had a big impact I don't know he's returned a couple of -- Yeah he he must really we have really seen him hit a -- you know we in the green and it on the practice field. And we saw that he'd burn their but he kept talking about the one -- out there in the game wasn't get it done. And has got it done and I've charismatic guy they've they've gone back that plan. Not worried about preserving -- and number two in the -- in addition to his girls in the secondary. All in red by the way -- a practice while linebacker and we we were speculating that he could -- The addition to the active roster at some point isn't wearing the black practice here the last three week. For his performance in practice and look at a guy who has worked real hard in the field clearly has that -- the attention to the coaching staff and has been awarded for his work. And have a guy Shawn Crable who is not healthy at this point has played all year it is a flip flop them points and maybe you'll you'll would have been red. By the time over you know to --"
[48:03]" on the other side of the field I guess the two rookies that you know they have at least if not gotten the talk. I've got a little bit of the playing time been Jarvis Green Ellis at running back in and Kevin O'Connell as the as the backup right not a Matt Cassel."
[48:16]" Yeah O'Connell thing. Yeah right now he is their number two in and we haven't seen him and even in any of these blowout surprised I think their market or Tuesday district as intolerant. At this point is. He needs the development to as much as O'Connell doesn't think about it meaning he has. Coming into the season had -- much info parent almost O'Connell which is pretty much -- Eric has had mop up the game but no nothing really major. A -- Brady hurts though. O'Connell there he's learning and from what we gathered has been pretty good practices as a as a practice guys are not -- by private practice. He's he's active. And Benjarvis -- now is that an okay job I was as impressed and they at Iowa is the second half against Denver. But I was impressed music that we -- line score the touchdown. In there and he got he took the initial hit. And plowed right through it and -- spirited in any kind of uses. It will. Are imposed his will rather on the -- argument at the end of press -- like a guy. -- got ranked back there and it bit of a combination of size and speed which is like an adequate."
[49:26]" Yeah. You know. Has the ability I think to look. Get underneath people in that he had to do basically on the touched on 'cause he's obviously -- kennel on the ground is that low center of gravity and in. I think that's great trade when your obviously undersized be able to get even lower. A little guy who stands upright isn't going to get my guys who can get down low it's going to be very very hard bring down."
[49:48]" Yeah I mean it's quite a -- nine running back they can't get down low. And they don't have good leverage and a guy cam looking at who's bill close of the ground and get old is going to get leverage on people that's why is he able to push past linebackers. And knocked a pile over and put a pile on the end otherwise he's -- one was going to get pushed back and a -- literally that."
[50:09]" It's kind of funny but you know just thinking out loud here. We've actually seen a couple players who were somewhat small in stature. Certainly I guess in -- is well. Have you know pretty good sized impact on this team you know the want to come -- the mind immediately is Wes Welker white whose only what five wood nine. If all of that and in -- Jarvis Green Ellis who was he listed at 585. Roughly what he's listed at 511 but there's no way no I don't. I'm 511 he's sort of yeah there's just there's no way and the other another -- they're a handful of guys that are under six feet tall. You know that you know have -- you know pretty consistent impact and affect. Oh you look at a guy like Kevin Faulk who you know and under six footer on how he's had you know tremendous impact over the football team over the last ten years."
[50:57]" You know -- is pretty amazing in a lot of -- players talk about that well on Monday that aren't particularly as it. And it Anthony Becht and tight and was hang out he did this guy they need to wonder he's been here for so long and every time we touch the ball -- something big happen. And you other route he ran a touchdown in the fourth. Game on -- name is impressed route. A good leaping catch and keep being in bounds and he looked like there are legitimate NFL wide receiver -- play that a guy has a much like ability. And even when he really gets. Or haven't eight. The Byron it carries maybe catch -- not a lot but it was like everyone of the impact play. We always making something happen to keep the chains -- And didn't run the ball particularly well and if I had I I can call two big fourth quarter runs where he converted first downs and and thirty longer and sort. And those add up those are big and you know yeah he's ever been the -- typical starter obviously sort of career. But that that's the kind of guy who I think part of lion -- develop over the years you know those those players who -- particular niche. And Natalie who could fill that void -- fill their -- happy doing it over the course."
[52:06]" Career. You've got defensively -- prone. And I and I mention you know I don't national defensive backs is largely a lot of defensive backs are by nature under six feet tall anyway lecture extremely fortunate to have big corners. And a quarterback at six foot -- is considered big. So are totally them off but I I mentioned been trolling -- number one because he plays -- number two because he's played some at wide receiver is well. -- good speed gets -- the field and obviously impact type player at a course over the the course the last several here's Larry Izzo and impact player on special teams and he's under six foot --"
[52:39]" Izzo is one of the more well respected. Locker room. They'll remain special team -- early they could probably been type one yeah he's currently the team captain. The guy okay -- back there an act like a player like that -- ability. And we were talking about the began the -- with him but Welker had a leg injury or early -- he was at a time. -- thought I thought that was a -- and Roenick Anke has roster spot on a lot a year. And maybe he can fill that void a little bit and in a really good hand knows that the one thing about renteria as well. But very reliable hands will catch pretty much everything thrown at him. And you don't really a lot of jobs and a guy like him now he's not always contribute in other fast and -- has been playing a holier have a need him much but. The fact they tell -- their roster this -- those those. Problems with the numbers game. In the Ottawa -- of his value and and it and it big time I mean the big time. Is that every game he laid out."
[53:45]" Well before we -- we wrap up the are here be remiss habit and asking your your individual thoughts on on the game on Sunday. Fact is that the Patriots at least defensively had decent success against Peyton Manning. And the Colts offense over the years. In fact. They've won eleven of the sixteen games that Manning has started. Against the Patriots and the eleven wins against Manning are the most by any team. Against him so you don't the Patriots have had success in August fielded questions you're -- though success again -- while."
[54:18]" I think some of those numbers are deceiving because Manning did have pretty good as in 5 it. After sort of breaking that Bill Belichick actually came here I think animal and right remembered that run of success of the -- pepper yeah along that would never seem like he whatever beat them read it and for that to be small time for about a year yeah and including a game now last year they got back the bragging -- a bit with that victory at Indianapolis though. It's been back and forth I mean what we seen because he plays a lost their minds and the Red Sox and Yankees in an away. Because of the every pitcher the Red Sox that has been beat up by the easily once. Every pitcher the Yankees got beat -- by the -- of the you don't getting at this point you know any mean you know it's going to get every time it mattered not there stopping it but. As this particular matchup on on it like that before. The battle of the trenches got to be big and the Colts have lost that battle all year and Al how they come back and win now they can't stop the run and they can't on the football. I think the -- can eke out a close win here based on that alone. In a score. Off. A 44 point. Who grew at a point or -- number there but sure enough. That we have we -- field goal -- you know -- player payroll."
[55:34]" Absolutely by the way -- there's another you know younger that we've we've kind of it'll play under the radar but with Steve -- staff he's done this year he's only missed one field goal yet and perfect from PT range. I mean he's been a true unsung hero -- thinking keep this team. In of the team's head above water especially in the office."
[55:50]" And has cut back and I talked to me is he did not have any -- back privately on Sunday and clear conditions though. You want to that will keep from maybe a week but -- part of them that he's been fantastic I think right now if you look at net pro -- he's the only. Bonafide I think no doubt pro bowler on the right now it is the first I've put him I think he's been that we currently yeah. While world if you continue to get to play and that's the kid from Denver probably will get the nod. Yeah but I think I think how -- at -- Time because of UW to -- about --"
[56:24]" You know what they do do -- he's an all pro team I believe on nfl.com if not ESPN -- So be interesting to see you know what the perception is my guess is is that nobody. Makes because of the financial perceptual -- Patriots lost Brady but right yeah I still think that's the national perception of mystic."
[56:42]" They did Derek ridiculous fifty pounds on that and I -- and undermine our. I was I was leaning back of my -- blocks from the window that it -- horn in any girlish looking guy and there are so. You know on an eighty artsy and Nolan -- being jacket I'm in the -- breaker."

Isn't just a wonderful time -- year. I make this mention the other night. A little -- here it is mentioned in the night doing the only chili is in radio. And which they still actually you know. As we do from time to time so you know I've -- it's a good show and get a chance to give your opinion actually a lot of things that. You know you don't to a daily show you don't really get a chance to eyeball ball now. You know terms of the National Football League world we're fortunate that and I'm fortunate that I have this -- talk to you about. You know things -- concern -- Patriots about other big stories that happened around the NFL. Which is always good but sometimes you you know. Haven't taken on baseball or you have an opinion on what's going on with the NBA or into the college game one champion when he in the we do manage to squeeze it a little. College football talk from time to time here the situation warrants. On its cool doing it in that kind of format it would because. You know Uga radio stations listening all over the country in a little bit different style of program. But we were. You know kind of gone back and forth on some of things. Obama about. About the NFL with John Clayton the other night and in doing the show and you know his perception. You know after were all doubled the interview he keeps me on the line. For a little bit longer and -- is so what's up with your past. And honestly and you know personals surprised -- yes but nobody knows that I were you know Patriots and so. You know him he's always look for little bit of insight as good reporter is supposed to do right now that frankly I think most everybody's pleasantly surprised. With the way this team is situated now at five and who. I think it's you know a lot of people are pretty comfortable. But for the most part we're net Cassel is because let's face it Matt Cassel as the focal point of this team right now. As perceived. Around the country without Brady who steps in -- now -- team -- this cast but. That's the perception. And so he was interested to hear me say this because. He doesn't share the same opinion. But I don't know if you find it. Odd. Or surprising -- But he's seemed to think that you know -- still lacking in. It in certain areas that he doesn't believe it will. And keep the Patriots in good stead. Once they get to crunch time and once they get to December and fighting for a playoff berth in particular. On and he is one of those you know way exit if you will at ESPN that believes that Buffalo is going to be the team that ultimately wins the AFC east. Now none of us can really argue that point right now. Okay yes the Patriots retired by the two. But the -- have bowl games of the -- looked ahead of them at the bit November ninth game stand to be really. I mean real sounding like I personally can't wait for. It's great to play in the Colts this week I mean it's not the same build up obviously we have a year ago bowl teams haven't known. You know national television and you know and it was it -- the game of the century so to speak but in two weeks -- him. That's going to be great day to be a Patriot would be Patriot fan because you get an AFC east divisional rival team that you pounded a team that you've handled. Overwhelmingly. Over the course the last 56 years. You know with the 131 that the loss that Buffalo will open the season a few years ago. It's about oh yeah other going to be look into you know not only for payback but we look -- announced their old rival. And the Patriots. As we all know home they'd love to play you know the the disrespect card. It's a perfect opportunity for them to do that. So that's going to be a big game -- there will be a lot of juice I think. In a lot of emotion going on about the bills pats in a couple of weeks. But we have not seen within the confines of the AFC east in several. Years. Several years that the Patriots -- we started dominating the division. Topic that's on the look for two and I think. That's the Patriots opportunity to begin turning heads. And changing up Indians national weather to ESPN or fox sports was CBS -- two or whomever. You've seen on line basically this the Patriots and there have been many. They have been. You know -- tell -- who it was this program often remember earlier in the year we get a big crew chief from an -- dot com like. Respect greatly for his overall knowledge he's the a senior editor for the website for number of years covered the NFL. Obama through the Buffalo news and he was of an old bills beat writer so he certainly knows the AFC east. And the bills and the Patriots as well as any single individual in this country that covers the NFL. And we had -- on in this is just off the first 23 weeks of the season. And if Patriots struggling the bills brought to a you know a couple of big wins to start and he sort of basically -- the bills. Were hands you know in in and heads and feet above the Patriots. And he predicated -- all all of the fact that there was no Tom Brady. Completely and totally discounting. The other 52 players. On the team and I wondered out loud and in management and how do you do. Mean. Does this team to have good players coming look at them you don't defensive line look at the office 13 point pro bowlers Alastair look at Randy Moss. You know. Look at a budget for guys on this team that -- good players. How they affected somewhat directly. By Brady's loss in the fact is that they're not incorrectly -- And I guess he was adding a lot of weight who. But this -- to get that will be the game -- him but -- were appoint John Clayton and we're talking about the Patriots and and he what he's not a big fan of Matt Cassel. If so physically but the -- ten minutes tell him what. What I know on what you know -- what we've seen what we've observed he's always in the papers play a couple of times this year. It so calm package is that Matt is in this one of the things they explain to. Matt is on every week growing. Improving. Taking steps in the right direction to be more familiar and more comfortable with the surroundings on offense. Finding his receivers working on his timing knowing where receivers going to be in certain patterns. And it just comes with reputation after repetition after repetition until Johnson you know what he's just now getting into you know. You know that the kind of shape that it will be could be because he's getting reps in practice and because he's getting the reps in practice and an interruption in getting more comfortable with himself. He's got -- and ability to move out of the pocket and make a positive. Yardage gain. Big Tom Brady did because his footwork and he even agreed with that particular point. Although he didn't really have the new wants that Brady as it is that the quick release that Brady as. On where few weeks ago we saw him too quick. -- wrong with football now he's running the football. After he's gone through check 12 and three offense -- has in the receiver -- I got time on -- in all I'm run with a ball. So you can see him -- with progression now whereas earlier he just kind of you know -- ducked or ducked in the outspoken under his Armand and took off with. Posted back to -- was the biggest thing that I've noticed over the course last few weeks is that. Cassel is improving in his whole league's. In -- in his decision making process is that it was creditors he then usual B you know and again this fall off the year. All of that off the year not on the all of it was off after we were don't want their interview. And them -- we understood to watch him over the next few weeks and see if that you know holds up. So you see something from. Clayton of espn.com. In talent -- future about that you know where he got it from the got it from right you're inside the playbook maybe. -- talk about. Okay both -- so public hello. So anyway -- it's kind of interesting though again did to get beat the whole. You know feel for -- how the national media he offs. It's always good because we get a little temperature check because you know we're so for the old adage is -- to -- forest can't see the trees. And very true around here especially the Patriots. It's so I try to open myself up to as much outside opinion is that possible came in and frankly Patriots are not really on anybody's. Front burner in terms of being a true contender. For the Super Bowl this year. You can see things warming up a little bit and in usually the gauge for that is to look at the power rankings at the various web sites. And we spent some time talking about those this year. On here on this program. In the -- to believe in particular on the nfl.com. And the number seven. This week. Take that what it's worth much credence you how much credit really give those things just sort of a measure where teams are after. This particular time in the season. Doesn't mean that the the seventh best in the league lead right now this problem with a stack up against the other. And obviously we know things are greatly subject to change between now in the year that's obvious. I'll put. Noting where they are and where they were few weeks ago where they were down in the teens and the rankings while slowly. They're gaining some credibility. It's it's been a steady inquiry. Even with the loss. To San Diego few weeks you want to go -- thirty to ten. And I find that kind of interest. It just tells you that this is horrible what have you done for me lately. Kind of media and kind of crowd in in kind of reactionary. Type of media that follows the teams and and covers the NFL. More so maybe than in even in recent years. I would think that what the Patriots in recent years. -- would certainly give them some some credibility in and so on active he will. As I was talking about concerning the -- that you just want to know. Doesn't mean it's always want to beat them formulate. The Patriots need continued to kind of build on and certainly this weekend's game this Sunday night's game at Indianapolis and it could be. Another big steppingstone toward that even with the Colts. Being. Sub par compared to their normal. Usual standards. Whip injured players potentially being back in the lineup in in. Joseph Addai and Bob Sanders and Peyton Manning perhaps. Allegedly being a little closer to being healthy ever. That I think more people say they'll win over this Colts team. All it is a little better but I don't would give the Patriots complete credit reports of the because the Colts are three and four. If the Colts win the game. On Sunday night I think there will be more credit given them. In terms of all the Colts all right you know yeah -- stub their -- the Connecticut Tennessee but the beginning come back because now the getting some healthy people back and they beat a Patriots team that yes. Is not the Patriot team of the past what. You know -- and -- struggled with the Patriots the past anyway so it's a step in the right direction here come the Colts. I can guarantee that's what you're going to look at the crystal ball at the that right now. Can the Patriots win in all the PR battle probably not but. A win will continue to move them -- up the ladder. The goal but they need this win combined with the wind. Or -- they win over Buffalo on November 9 in my estimation. To be back. Anybody agree or disagree with a particular assessment. They need to win this week and the win next week in order to stamp themselves. Once again as a legitimate. AFC. Contender. For the championship and the representative. In the suitable. They need those two wins if they're sitting. Here at evident and if we're sitting here and we're talking in two weeks. With this team's seven until. Patriots will be a legitimate contender again. Probably -- agrees with that I would think most would agree with it. And the Tennessee Titans who would they played. Until the Colts. On Monday night. I think you know he could certainly look at them and and and and make that statement but they are the only undefeated team they are seven -- I don't know that they go undefeated like papers did a year ago. Probably but really expects that would affect his you know you can only play the games that are on your schedule. And you try to win every game Kent. And so for the Titans about it they deserve to be up on the top right now. I still think the New York Giants are probably top to bottom the best team in pro football right now. As a unit for the Giants right up there at least with them if not a little bit above them even with a loss -- you know I think the Giants rate that well. But other than those two teams right now a couple of weeks ago we were talking about -- there's -- real super team in the league there's no real standout team in the NFL this year. And I'd say that the Titans and the Giants or the Giants Giants and Titans depending on you know how you rank in the pecking order. I'd -- those two teams have distanced themselves put themselves a little above the rest of the pack would neo. I think they've earned it. But I do think the Patriots have reached that next tier that next level of teams that that level team that says okay certainly division championship contender. Team that could do some damage in the playoff type of contender. Whether or not they -- that upper tier level with the Giants in the Titans well. I think in the next two weeks global long way toward the kind of sealing the deal in terms of getting some respect and getting some notoriety. In getting the mainstream media. Around the US today covers the NFL to pay attention to the Patriots again so pats fans don't worry too much about what the others are saying. As of Kenny given you an overview here -- of what the perception he has. Just continue to do what you gotta do in the schedule plays out in your favor. In order to increase that perception in in make it morally positive perception for New England is compared to other teams around. Talk a little bit about well but a snapshot -- there. Let's get back to the business then. Of looking in on the Indianapolis Colts -- We mention of course the Patriots and it's in excess of Peyton Manning. And the Colts. Winning all won eleven of the last six of the sixteen games I guess that Manning started against the Patriots. Well overall the Patriots have a 44 and 27 record all time. Against the Colts. Including 21 in the playoffs. In fact since the beginning of the 2003. Season the Patriots. At the NFL's best record overall the Colts have the second best record overall in the entire league. -- not only against these two teams against each other the Patriots have had largely the upper hand with the course the notable exception. On India for a that he AFC championship game. Com couple years ago. -- ago when it was yeah -- last year. Couple years ago but. The two teams success overall. Has been better than any other organization in the entire league. Colts are widely respected around the league there's certainly respected by the members of the Patriots Bobble on the field and off the field. In a lot of what the Colts have been able to accomplish has been through the diligence and the talents of Tony Dungy the head coach and admittedly. This year's team is somewhat problematic in with the injuries he's had. While the slow start to Peyton Manning because of injury. In curious to know that he did kind of say well looks like the the division title is out of her reach and you don't hear that from a head coach Italy you wonder what kind of a message maybe but does stand he used. But their backs into the wall make no mistake about it on Sunday night. What kind of a team will jump out at the Patriots. Sure that's one of the questions that will be asked Tony Dungy so let's hear what's here now Tony Dungy and accomplish cult members of the Patriots media."
[1:20:52]" Yeah they don't okay out there when there."
[1:20:55]" Well a few minutes yeah. So you know unfamiliar position a little bit for the course right now -- will -- in your opinion has contributed to this reinforce our."
[1:21:07]" Well let's try this polished and inconsistency when we look at the things that. And it really kind of call this a lot of subtleties that we don't normally get. A lot of turnovers. Things that. We're doing and it does really cause -- lose games and now we've played well in spurts but we really haven't played that good consistent football that that we need to play. So when when these games that we've got to get back to a pretty quick."
[1:21:35]" How unusual is the situation usually when these two teams are facing each other yeah. You're undefeated did you know this sort of AFC supremacy on the line and now both teams are. Sort of hanging on but their fingernails fighting for position here how audit."
[1:21:50]" They're still a little bit better than we are but I I would say you know neither of those. Played -- expectation and so far. And it is going to be a big game pivotal in a lot of ways then. When you're you're fighting like this. You've got to give went in to get a streak going and it that's what we are we've got to get it turned around quickly and not plan to play at a very very tough opponent to try to do that."
[1:22:14]" It's kind of like after the Tennessee game you is kind of like you're almost conceding the division to members. Is that an accurate death --"
[1:22:22]" realistically look at added. You know we have to look at it that way we've got to. The focus are built on. They're not playing good that they don't get in the win streak go on and if we can't get a streak go like we've gotten in the past -- and roll all -- seven -- a -- It still may not be good enough to win the division but that's okay if we can get ourselves playing well. And get hot and did in that wild card race will be in good shape."
[1:22:52]" It's different for you as a coach. We've seen that scratching and clawing its."
[1:22:58]" It's have been but this thing like this for the position we're in a lot of things my last three years -- sample were three of four. And we we fought back every year in doubt and play well enough one year ended up. Stringing together a good streak and Gordon the damage against so it's not something that I am. Unfamiliar -- that we just haven't been that the inconsistent here in and quite well."
[1:23:22]" Experience is -- not hit them as applicable here."
[1:23:25]" By the fact that NFL football is really still all about November and December if you plan well this time a year that that's what counts in -- Giants proved that last era I think Pittsburgh did a couple of years ago. You know you don't want to dig yourself too much of a hole but certainly that this season isn't over. September 30 or October 30 --"
[1:23:50]" So much as the time comes on the offensive line contributed zero overall. Problems this year."
[1:23:58]" privately our offensive line has played -- they've been pretty solid pretty consistent even our young guards when they were starting both those guys did a pretty good. I don't think that's the biggest thing we've heads. You know inconsistencies. And our passing game we had penalties. We've given up big run well on defense hum things like that -- Surgeon I would love to have our veteran offensive lineman in there the whole way but that hasn't really -- the major problem."
[1:24:27]" Still seeing the effects of hate not having any time in in training camp and in the pre season games -- Brewers are harder problems."
[1:24:35]" That's hard to say I'm sure that -- to a certain extent that's been part of it but. Atlanta Baltimore which broke seventy yard touchdown best we have a holding penalty you know that really doesn't have anything to do with -- Did in training camp forward not so it's it's not everything but I'm certainly not as sharp as they would have been with a normal holes pulled him."
[1:24:59]" It's only as you watch the Patriots and specifically the quarterback Matt Cassel what has some good out -- maybe after. It's specific to -- yeah."
[1:25:09]" Well they're they're doing great that they always do plan to people strengthen I think they've kind of follow what he. He does well developed and that chemistry where it was well Kirk. It he didn't make -- less -- let. -- their every week and there. Keep in the ball they're controlling that -- the short passing game. -- get them into the right plays and so. It has been impressive and I think he's gotten more comfortable at every week that's kind of what it looks like I'll take."
[1:25:41]" improvements have you last seen in the development and Anthony dissolves."
[1:25:46]" If that is the understanding. What's going on around him more more than anything this year he's he's. Understanding defenses out people try to play him where he fit the total scheme of the passing game. And again he did -- more more comfortable we can we dealt with. Just. Not only his route to what he's supposed to go with everything else around them."
[1:26:09]" Big difference. Have a bulletin there is there's Sanders in the way you guys play defense."
[1:26:15]" Not really -- and play well organized so therefore for an excellent player but you don't change the whole whole lot. You know in in your game what you ask that person would do and and Melvin has played well for."
[1:26:28]" Dropping down into the box and doing a lot of things Bob bidders that they -- Yeah do you give us an update I know it's early and we kind of -- And Sanders possibly playing this week."
[1:26:42]" Did look like they're going to still play at Sanders and Hayden they're all scheduled to practice today they went through that the morning walk through and did fine though we expected them out of practice and -- that they have a good week to practice I think all three of them will play."
[1:26:55]" It is Ryan Lilja. Coming off he would he would any time."
[1:26:59]" That's what were open though Ryan hasn't been able to get out there as quickly as Tyjuan Hagler and now we're still kind of fighting through things with him we have -- activated and yet -- we've we hope to do so soon."
[1:27:15]" It's Tony Dungy head coach -- local members of the Patriots medium in their conference call. Kind of interesting to -- though he's talking about to some young guys in the offensive line that. -- played a lot for the cold that your guys like justice Richard -- the yeah two guards and just as the senator who. Basically back in -- Saturday now they have played quite a bit and obviously to less than sterling result you know. They have played sort of wonder how much of -- benefit they're getting. Well in terms of the experienced. They're getting up there as opposed to -- you know basically getting handled on the line of scrimmage yes they're playing but are they playing well enough to be effective and you have to say largely. No. That the probably not as effective as they would like -- but you know that's what happened some time with younger players Patriots in the same thing on the other side when you take a look at some of the defensive backs they have. Well back there and I'm sure that that will be an interesting matchup yet again what Peyton Manning. Can possibly do potential against the Patriots secondary. On Saturday night one of those other battles. All of that will be looking. Pause here for a time out. And that's another run news and notes promote concerning the Indianapolis Colts to share with you. And will go inside the Patriots locker room from earlier today Vince Wilfork. Ellis Hobbs. Kevin Faulk in -- and hope but managed to give us their thoughts on. Preparing this week for the Colts -- have that comin' for you in just few minutes right here inside the playbook."
[1:29:24]" Q double catering had a good to beat for a hot soccer match or make it very far from together catering and give them Goodell never forget let me get -- letting you go back."
[1:29:33]" Big games mean big parties beat twenty or more of your friends with a -- hot -- not sure naked burrito bar from Hugo with catering gets past price in budget friendly now with sixteen Massachusetts -- in September a Patriot place and get more square hole manual available if you don't -- dot com."
[1:29:52]" When you've got a lineman 900 wanna beat all of authentic taste of Gillette Stadium as your children. People write home. Tackle that appetite -- Patriots gridiron Grilli looks like Zach. It's fourth down crimes of Patriots brought in a wide variety of flavors at home. Yes there could wind up the grill. We'd like your drillers are all you need for the perfect game go home barbecue check out all the Patriots gridiron. The Jets Patriots. Funny in all. Patriots. -- drillers. Roche Brothers are very far Johnson. Drillers when you just can't wait for Sunday."
[1:30:57]" Making another run in the MLS cup championship it was. Playoff push Gillette Stadium with the Budweiser west with a cup. Back it's one. The -- final matches of the season. And a pair of Budweiser revolution. -- The cup -- back there just for the UW's. Direction match and you take what magic pill revolution like last week. -- don't want to return. Cubs want to have a seven get rid of one of the information everything else we've -- revolutions."
[1:31:50]" Well let -- here again -- Sunday means you're doing of the in football. Whether it's tailgating in the parking lot throwing the -- get around to just hang in in and watch the game on the tube it's all about football. And when you're not watching football or playing football well I think we both know you're thinking football and all that could make you a little Hungary. That's why -- that tasty snack -- from McDonald's. Neck -- now -- your choice of three -- huge multi barbecue honey mustard and ranch and they're available with grilled crispy chicken. Delicious and easy to eat it a perfect game times -- what did it. And when you do if you're looking at that she could elect any kind of remind you of the quarterback in the middle of the pocket and now he's surrounded by each interject G rant and let us. Well BP your thinking a little too much about football. McDonald's I've loved and --"
[1:32:50]" Back playbook. Wednesday take a look at that was Colts. Next part of the Patriots had to go on the wrote -- on the Colts at Lucas Oil field on Sunday night. Is a senate football returns to NBC. And I've -- the week off with the you know. World Series so the national television audience will be all focused in on pats and Colts. Not quite to the same degree perhaps as they were a year ago mobile teams at seven and Albert the nevertheless an interesting matchup this at least in. You know it's one of the reasons why the NFL a puts these two teams. On the schedule against each other again being division winners from a year ago so that's one reason that -- beat they wait until this time a year because. In sweeps its television sweeps time November's the start of the sweeps month again. Offer you know television ratings so you know you NBC wants to have I primetime game on Sunday -- would you know the control big ratings and because of what they've done. Against each other in the past. Regardless of the records. Pats and Colts will undoubtedly get them a good number and be a good draw and a large audience. From around the country so it's one of the reasons why you see the pats -- going again on Sunday night now. You know the Colts are not without obviously the problems that we've been discussing -- today and you heard a little bit from. You know Tony Dungy just a couple of moments ago. The fact is is that their big time players hit the bottom line. They're big time players superstars."
[1:34:19]" Less. Then what they're used to get. If public putting it mildly I don't want to stay their their bitter their bust and want to say they're playing terribly. This is not entirely accurate with just say that they're not getting out of their stars what they're accustomed to getting."
[1:34:38]" You know last what nine years the Colts have had eight playoff appearances. They obviously have won a Super Bowl. They've won six division titles -- on the last five division titles in a role although it certainly looks to be in jeopardy this year in. Obviously Tony Dungy just talked about that a pretty much kind of conceded that note to Tennessee. For at least this season. A lot of it has been the fact that you know Manning and Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. Well in Joseph Addai have been hurt. Or they're just older. The defensive side Dwight Freeney Bob Sanders. They've been banged up a little bit as well. Sold at the larger reason behind -- you know their superstars who will their their marquee players. You know not being able to produce because they have been banged up but again increase. You know -- an excuse they are a reason however for sometimes the performance level being what it is. Some interesting numbers compiled by the Indianapolis star. On this this group of you know superstar players for the Colts. On that group of seven players right there -- Manning Harrison Wayne Freeney Sanders a die. Six players like this is very. Off by one those players have combined for 24. Pro Bowl appearances. And the account for 43%. Of the team's salary cap but. So think about -- percent six players. Out of 5343%. Of their salary cap but."
[1:36:16]" So there's a lot of emphasis on those on the six players and there's a lot of a lot hanging on the performances. All of those players and most players don't click. The team. Doesn't click. Manning for instance this year -- completion percentage is 61%. -- yards per attempt six point six. His passer rating is 79. That's right just 79. Those trees worst numbers overall since his rookie season of 1998. He's also on pace for what would be a career low 23 touchdown passes for the entire year. So -- say what you all about Peyton Manning if he's reading himself back into shape Colts fans would say it's about time. But it's clear to see that you know missing training camp as he did is hurting him. You know the fact the disease had not one but -- surgical procedures on his -- they've heard him. In when you combine that affected his protection from the offensive line has been. Iffy at best with some of the younger players haven't played because of injuries up there. Back into a lot to disrupt your your timing pattern with your receivers. It into a lot. Let the large reason behind where the Colts are where they are Ellis added to that equation Marvin Harrison. Here's a guy. Seat he's had three catches for 23 yards in the last two games. He has not now gone over the hundred yard mark in receiving yards for thirteen straight regular season games and that's his longest dry spell. Since 1997. Think about -- were segments are excellent that the kind of receiver that a guy like Hairston has been over the last decade. But he's on thirteen straight games the regular season about a hundred yards in a game and it's his longest. Spell in eleven years. Zone. You know he's got a couple of decent games. He had a good game against the Ravens and he was three for 83 and a couple of touchdowns in that one. But over six game he -- that one out is sixteen total is twenty catches a 187 yards and one touchdown while. That's -- pedestrian that's just. War especially when you're expecting better from -- you know number one guy ranked or at least one a Reggie Wayne and his won the new facility here and won a right. Keep in mind as well that you know Garland Marvin Harrison's 36 years old believe Biron 36. So you know time may have just passed him by a little bit. Speaking of Reggie white. He's basically been a non factor in both of the losses to Tennessee in the previously Tibet to greenback. He had five catches totaling 53 yards in those two games combined. Not going to -- it's amazing he's still like is on pace for about 808587. Receptions on the season. But he's trying to settle league record this year. Like keep improving his receptions total for an eight straight season but that's going to happen -- at least doesn't look like it's going. And I guess. Reggie Wayne is troubles or let's just say analysts say he did his troubles I don't think it's troubles. It was just his production level is lowered its been lesson this year. And I guess that's what perhaps has a lot of Colts principal concern especially in light of Marvin Harrison's -- You think Reggie Wayne would rise for the occasion and pick up the slack. Andy hasn't really done. And Peyton Manning has been able to get to him enough to make him. A consistent threat. On office. So Anderson as a curiosity factor -- concerning Reggie Wayne -- wonder if or win. He's going to break out could be this week you know I. I'd be stunned if we didn't -- Manning try to go deep on the path like everybody else has but -- Reggie Wayne in particular to do that. Keep an eye out for that I thank and so tonight. Defensively you know Freeney and Sanders. The two guys who had been banged up. And focal points the most of that side of the ball. Freeney only has one sack in the last five games. Teams are sort of eliminating his effectiveness by doing a lot of the Patriots already do well. And that's going with short drops and quick passes out into the flattened corals underneath and using guys like Welker and going to the backs out of the backfield and that kind of eliminates a lot of the effectiveness of the pass rush. Problem is though that he has been a contributing -- elsewhere. Because his tackles. Or down. He's like fourteenth on the team in total tackles so he's not involved in a lot of the place. That's a big reason right there if he's not involved. That it means to me the opposing teams' offenses having some success -- have to say -- that's the case for the most part when a team is three and four right. Sanders is a little different story as well because obviously Sanders has missed a lot of time this year. With injury. On he had fifteen tackles ten of them solo in the of in two games before. Take in the high ankle sprain on his right ankle. That's knocked him out -- percents. Arm is part of at a guy who's you know NFL defensive player of the year. Our home but even when he was in the lineup early. In the season Indies run defense was a -- a 180 yards per game on the ground aid granted you'd think it. They probably stand to be somewhat better with him in the lineup but they were all that good with them. Even in those first two games he packed up those. Those impressive tackle numbers. Still the Colts are better -- on the field if indeed he does return to the field on Sunday is dungy expects him to. He's he's he's got to stay on the field negative parts."
[1:42:15]" And I guess in the Patriots don't shy away from a you know going to see how much what he's got you know they're going to go right I I would mean you know you don't know what a guy's health level is going to be. Go write -- and get involved -- get him involved and whatever it takes right but to me that that seemed to me to be kind of a point where room. A guy like Bob Sanders is concerned you might want to test him and you might want to test him early. Just to see which are able to get. The other expect all this is the of the rookie running back -- Joe -- bomb. Which show we we talked about a little bit though with the Mike when he in the opening round of the program today. A die alone currency. He look at the number here again from the start it talks about how he. Rushed you know he had a 112 yard game against the Patriots last year. Prior to -- get a hundred yards against Carolina but since those two games. All in 2007 he's average not even 45 yards per game on the ground and just barely over three yards per attempt. Now he has been hobbled by a hamstring. Dominic Rhodes back on the Colts team this year hasn't he stepped in but hasn't. As near the production all that Addai has even given them in the past. So Addai needs to return and helping -- and I need to return. Against the Patriots. And he needs to get going. He needs to get going that'll be part of -- so beat that'll be the key to watch for an offense if the -- is on the field with Manning how often does he go to like how does he try to get him involved in the -- So -- thing you know numbers I think concern of some of those Coopers -- you know superstars. And you'd beat us from my standpoint from the standpoint. We both into each of the and you know me. What makes. The Expos worked."
[1:47:00]" There is no. Well whether it's one thing often don't know that it hasn't got that team clicking you know moment. You know. There you know on the victim of the team. In the book with a one inning giving them. Shout. -- him. You know things great quarterback he. I think this is the town where he really so who's -- though as far as like rise for the occasion they make it you know. We use them back over the years where he had adversity in doing the game somehow -- he's always news Lamotte now is doing the season. You know I that he has come around and he has the talent he -- the and pulled it together and that definitely going to get back on track. So. There expect everything. -- that was much in an even. [1:48:12]" But you prepare for that -- police fielder probably could soon become faster than anything he plays -- the -- run thing."
[1:48:19]" Coma thing is more laments that game knowing know what to expect going into the game and are you going to play against it and are you going to performing as you know. You know he's got that and get back on track on the -- Patriots. You know everybody's houses over dramatized in the and it's it's going to be crazy. So it was fun dated anybody it's it would -- this -- Those. -- It. And you go with the home you know same thing over -- it's almost like we did you get to those scouting report long enough for the personnel. He we know those guys you know who's going to be out there you know look this is their plane and they played against those who played against them. And and I've been here for years -- played him enough so you know it's -- we get repetitive. What does this have to reinforce Uga Ellsbury and it's not the same Colts Patriots class triple team him. Why doesn't have the differences. I don't know manner that they just you know the intensity of the game their release you know way when you go out -- you know what to expect from each team needed Seymour to lose. -- team Philly they've got their backs against the wall of the heap is like they have the back at Laughlin approve this -- this. [1:50:31]" success -- return team. Needed. There you are you guys but --"
[1:50:38]" Is that the value but. Tell us that you gotta get the ball out that we get a good office this and on the field. [1:51:31]" We'll talk. Yeah."
[1:51:35]" Well the -- has always been fast noted the deal on those who offense and it's taken their you know news more do the defending get a flow. --"
[1:51:49]" Glenallen he's on. And so you notice that -- apparently he's confident. [1:52:30]" Immorality divisional matchup almost at exactly at something."
[1:52:34]" I was always -- with us you know we always when this game comes up but they both doesn't blow. There every bit as good because in those will be competitive game."
[1:52:44]" So. It's that was -- let it -- it. It's."
[1:52:53]" Just as -- you can't try to. You know do everything will move the load on his shoulders to be seven play football and everything tickets. It. [1:54:10]" Yeah in your mind like -- Out there."
[1:54:18]" Full glory is going to happen and I think that's why you have guys that back in remote. And coaches have to trust in them do --"
[1:54:25]" Not from what I've seen you know they they play the way they play him. You know that's a fast aggressive you know especially on the defensive side of the ball general differently what to do offensively but. You know who they play the way the appointment play hard. Expecting nothing lessons on the admittedly. Provision and here's what's facilities and down in the -- great motors out there. They don't they don't stop on plays and they always.
