Play from 11:59[11:59] ..." the guys like Cassel stepped up on offense what was -- Jarvis Green Ellis offerman off stump up on offense you know like we've seen. Here will that you know who's going to be in an effort it was Thomas it's time now obviously guys like Mike Wright that book you know in. Play from 0:00[0:00]" Let's go let's -- know how bout another golf I want to go pot pie. Then they've won a pair of -- Patriots playbook cut back on combat on it being on here. Good -- breaking down last Sundays game -- Superman coverage. And these Gatorade for the break. -- and the rest of the 2008. NFL. And some of the fun stuff in between. Our feelings John look on Patriots playbook."

Play from 0:40[0:40]" Welcome back inside the playbook Patriots dot com radio I am John wrote. And -- I like it was two months ago. -- Would I think it's also partly because it was like Thursday when we left litigate Murton and we didn't do show what last Wednesday."

Play from 1:00[1:00]" Yeah just what -- so anyway bomb it if it. It's going to be a little different today I'm going to focus a little bit more today on the dolphins' game upcoming rather than revisit. So much what we did against the Jets last Thursday for couple original one it was last Thursday along time as a long time ago ball weird weird the way the schedule has has a broken out here. Palms so we've got back to willow tried to blow get bought I am revisit this a couple of things -- or point out that I think could have a bearing on. Future. Games and future situations for the global team but. You know the first thing I gotta struggle with today is the fact that you Joey -- in his mouth again what else is. I mean I I do you know I'm opening up the sports page more and I'm going on line. I'm reading to a three of the newspapers -- elected do you know every day you know -- of US sports pages dot com pre ware at right good good -- their money I have who by the way the guys who just bought -- a sports leagues don't come. Used to be my agent. Not our -- not anymore but he used to ask. You know I just didn't really haven't seen this was no need they're in them why pay somebody up but when you don't have to go out. You know -- so. But -- good guy didn't and I'm happy for the success it's a great convenient one stop shop for you know. Trying to get all of you reading done you know -- and you and it sort of polls. Sport's greatest around the country of one on one site yeah all -- by -- them -- that thanks a mall the other that the scripture a lot of the people who listens program. Are aware of what is -- but. -- I'm reading through a couple of lesbian sports page this morning and you know Joey Porter as does Joey Porter is that Joey Porter does -- the only good lord. You don't now. When this happened earlier this season before the Dolphins came up and thanked the Patriots a year you know he ran the mountain but it was -- like. Hah hah okay -- your big dummy now the Patriots are going to catch and look what happened of the game so I guess the question I have here is. What we do with it in do we do anything with a do we just ignore it let him run at the mile while it."

Play from 3:07[3:07]" It's unfortunate that it's happening in a year when he's able to back it up. Because in the last few years you know the bill says he's he's always the same player he's been but he's had a drop off the last few years there's a reason why. You know hit his play has suffered he hasn't been the same Joey Porter said he was say 45 years ago in Pittsburgh this year he is again. And and he's I think that's fueling a lot more -- talk because now he feels like he's actually going out there and backing it up where in past years he would talk a lot. But -- the game -- common you wouldn't hear anything you wouldn't hear his name at all during the game and people wouldn't really taken seriously. Now people are taken seriously but. I think it more affect. You don't focus on what he's saying when you focus on how it's plain and he's playing well. So I think you have to eat you sort of have to consider him in your game plan whereas before. Maybe a year or two or three ago. I don't think it was really the play making force studies that he was before then and is again now. So I think you have to take him into consideration I don't think you really pay attention to what he's saying well."

Play from 4:14[4:14]" No but it's clear to me -- that he did hang out. Pretty good game obviously can -- and the fact is he was able to pretty much back up all the and is now the ball for game one now. -- the circumstances are somewhat different. In in the biggest -- in different is. Is the improvement of Matt Cassel with a -- in the Patriots -- line in particular to protect Mac right so in that regard I'm wondering. How this changes. You know how those guys down the hallway in the locker room how this looks at things knowing that they are going to be more confident that they've got a quarterback who's better able. To lead them down on the field mean my goodness as far as I'm concerned Beckett was every bit as good as Tom Brady in terms of leading the team. From behind when he threw that touchdown pass was third in that I have the -- that was clearly I was very -- time Brady has it really was and and overall that was. -- best game easily. It statistics usually each game he plays is becoming the best game he's ever play which is because it which is great and we don't know but the problem right now is not with him in the often not at all -- the -- on the ball right it will get to that. But the fact is that you know where those guys concerned -- knowing that the schedule in the -- Based on what they did largely the last time yeah. How does that change how should change their well I don't know if -- change the."

Play from 5:34[5:34]" Attitude as much as it might change their game plan bumping -- things that. Josh mcdaniels said yesterday on the conference goalie had the media I'd ask him about. Or I was asking about changes in game plan calling this year as opposed to last year and somebody follow up with. -- mobility. And how that's played into. The way he changes -- ways. Calling the games and he says something interesting which was they've always had the designed rollout in the playbook. They used to call them with Brady every now and then. But Cassel as we know it was a much better runner. Then then Brady ever ones. I think we can hologram that yeah whether it's when the pocket breaks down he runs straight up field or whether it's rolling out to his writers left. Scanning the field and you're throwing on the run or deciding to take off and run with a they weren't really calling those kind of plays early on in the season because I think their focus was trying to get Cassel. Develop as a pocket passer more and to try to stay in there and throw the ball downfield more. Now that he's getting a lot more comfortable and it's pretty much his offense now. I think you're seeing the last few weeks a lot more of those designed rollout where they know they're getting pressure they try to alleviate that mitigate that by -- by sending him out of the pocket. So I think against the Dolphins you might see a lot more of those plays called and you did in week three. When they played Miami. Because castles at a level now where he's comfortable enough and they can he can handle that and and he's not just rolling out and automatically thinking run first. He's rolling out thinking pass first look downfield and if nothing's there then I'll run. Whereas earlier on his first I think what we're taking over he was just running with the ball so I think look for a lot more the rollout. Against Miami this time. And you then you would I think he's very good quarterback -- in the it is very good job and I heard of."

Play from 7:31[7:31]" Remember if it was a remember it was a national show me it was EI show I don't know but I heard of and say that on his role of last week. A game yet. Was he reminded them and -- he -- after that -- it reminds me of the way Ron Amadon used -- the pocket. Where he would. Field and at the -- and take off obviously you compared him to a halt in quarterback -- kind of silly but. At the same time I understood immediately what the caller was there's a lot of that team and raised it about him into the development. And frankly my first thought after Thursday's game even though you know you're disappointed like everybody else. If your Patriot. Corey fair my first thought was I think he just -- them. Yet if not a boat load of -- what's the difference it's a lot larger."

Play from 8:25[8:25]" Depends on who you talk about. The only girl people you know. It was it was by far his best game and I think regardless of whether they wanted to lost it in overtime giving him have a chance to win it in overtime but. The fact that he got in there. Was. And it made it his best game they -- 1246 yeah yeah. And I agree with it if he stays healthy continues to progress. Which I know reasonably at this point. Bolt eased my children upward curve here though then yeah I think -- right now I'm going to make he's going to do well from so -- in the off season. There was another point I was going to make about about his Grambling of the Ron Amadon comparison was that. Because he's such a good runner and people know that he's a good runner when he talks and the nights ago. Which Ron Amadon also what I mean that makes him that much more dangerous when he -- rollout and he sort of half pumping after watching downfield because that it's almost like it's almost like a college team that runs and option. You have to have somebody were at at accutane. Any sort of can't really make a play at the quarterback until the last second and sometimes."

Play from 9:32[9:32]" That's too -- very true and I guess that kind of let him get any of the teams are going to have to prepare. For the run pass option -- that Matt -- and throw -- and we -- gaping -- up the middle -- I'd never seen -- before gaping -- completely -- they had -- the middle -- field because -- that the wide receivers -- and because -- the linebackers and everybody with -- the middle -- field -- to -- somebody in -- to make -- And if they don't they're going to risk getting burned again. And when they do put -- in the middle there you would think that it is going to be in single coverage somewhere and as long as your accurate with the -- gonna make somebody pay to this is what the development of Cassel as a quarterback is continuing. To pay -- dividends with a team offensively. Sure you know I mean. Look at the numbers on the sheer you know black and white have little 400 yards passing. He ran for 62 rushing he's the first with a lawyer back game he is the first player. And the AFL NFL merger. To have more than a draft order 400 more passing and sixty or more rushing and again. 38 year. Impressive -- that. I mean. You know that's a bald guys like you know young right now and so. That you know I get you have to wonder now well it's going to be a statistical anomaly or is he going to go on and you know back this up the mother solid performances and obviously time is is only when you tell them but when you think about that just. On the surface you'd have to think that. You know the development here in India -- you know first of all you have to I think you know give credit to the Patriots were taken with a number one. And number two in in very close number -- here give credit to Matt Cassel for taking the advantage take advantage of the situation and you know pick it up and don't. Now the problem is he's got. Got to help out out of the out of the football because that's where this team is now lacking whereas earlier in the year when he was just beginning. His his tenure now as the Patriots starting quarterback. We all okay this team can -- and deepens a little bit to keep them in games and they did for the most part. But we also all last week that. Is the Finn is Adam is got a major holes in it a lot of -- due to injury but when have we ever used injury as an excuse around here. And so because of that now. Some all the guys like Cassel stepped up on offense what was -- Jarvis Green Ellis offerman off stump up on offense you know like we've seen. Now Wes Welker certainly now we've -- ten consecutive game catches for player in NFL history to do that. I mean -- these guys step up. Now it's time guys like. Here will that you know who's going to be in an effort it was Thomas it's time now obviously guys like Mike Wright that book you know in. And even that and Jarvis Green when he's in the case the other smoother entry. We've lost -- sweetly now. To the IR for the year and I realize that not a big deal but it certainly lessens your number -- it it takes away from your depth. And your ability to do absolutely and of course obviously lost Robbie Harris and you've got plenty of opportunity now for the all. To -- and -- you know they stepped up miserably on on Thursday and they didn't replace on the roster Terrence Wheatley went another quarterback or another defensive nor did they replace Thomas. What Thomas. Hasn't been place that's what I mean he hasn't even played -- placed on the IR you -- on the active roster correct which leads me to believe there's somebody call their thinks that there's right shot economic."

Play from 13:13[13:13]" Right but it was interest and they promoted. Rookie tight end Tyson debris to the to the active roster when when Wheatley went on injured reserve. Which deplete your depth at a at a position it was thirty depleted to begin with. Which I thought was kind of interesting that they made that move -- this deal that works out but right. But you're right every major injury that they sustained issue the player -- replace that person whether it's counsel for Brady or. Meriwether for Harrison Green-Ellis for Maroney. Or I should say -- slash Morris has morris'. Basically missed time. As Maroney is under study all of these guys have come in and perform tool. A level that you can't really complain. They've done their job and then some. And so now I think you're right Pierre Woods of the guy you mentioned that Thomas you know they haven't made any moves within yet but. The longer he stays out the more Pierre Woods is going to get playing time in the more he needs to. Make people on London not to forget about it -- Thomas but at least fill that void and not doing anything even when nick casual -- mark -- or stepped in there. And you never heard mark of course name which is a good thing for an offensive line because he was doing his job he wasn't getting beat -- was getting penalties."

Play from 14:24[14:24]" I think we also have to look at the entire defense picture when you -- at a guy like Shawn Crable who never solve you know down of football this year. Hank Williams never saw -- down of football this year these are all guys could've figured into the numbers and rotation could have figured into the the position rotations. You know and Williams is going to be that hybrid guy anyway you know linebackers like safety. A -- in all that. It is all taking their toll. And so now you know this decent. I mean. You've -- Jerod Mayo. I guess to his credit especially on the defensive side here develop a lot more quickly than the -- the Patriots probably needed him too because were seen him drop back in coverage yet you know he's he's got the tight ends generally coming out of the backfield a lot of time. You've seen him come -- asked to play solid runs dusty its because frankly there are some deficiencies there when it's just Tedy Bruschi out there and god knows we all love -- but he doesn't have the ability and today that he. Three years ago yeah four years it wasn't just castles best game it was -- this game right when he tackles. He was he I said as the guys in the press box at the time he was playing possessed. -- and yes he is as as good a young linebacker is I have seen. Certainly in my time you know -- the Patriots are sixteen seasons but you know working with a team but I mean I've covered pro football now for the better part of the last 25 years. And I gonna tell you there -- very few linebackers young guys especially rookies that come an inmate is significant impact like he looked to many right now he's a slam dunk defensive rookie of the year."

Play from 15:59[15:59]" I I agree with that and and it's interest ended that the trend the last three years has been. Middle linebackers winning that Award DeMeco Ryans one -- the Houston and in 6 Ervin Patrick Willis won -- deserve a disaster he. Maybe being exposed a little bit out there right now Miguel blah -- but you know again I'm just -- he is back on his year last jagr and nothing -- say you know what he -- I think it's interesting that that position is the one that's getting it of late. And and if Mayo wins it again -- be three years in a row but. You don't know corners no safeties and no defensive lineman the impact the scenes. Is. The opportunity to make an impact is there are more at that position Bennett Bennett the other at the front or in the back there that the and that's kind of an interest in. -- yeah out."

Play from 16:46[16:46]" It if it's it's really that the entire season when you look at it. Has been sort of an interest in lesson in evaluation self evaluation of how good are you how good are -- how good are these guys. You know well they can be good if a you know it's probably a lot of the answer that -- And to the often improve. And that these -- regrets has been one of the rather unusual I think we'll turn around that we've seen over the last few weeks it doesn't mean that the Patriots and bad spot. Impacted your second place that the way it is your game behind you have a chance to pull back even for first place after this week if this is a huge. Huge game for New England oh they lose this game. It doesn't look at it does not look good at all and I'm talking about wild card or other things right it does not look good this -- this this season. Hangs on this weekend's game as far as I'm concerned. I still think Emeka I think that that's pretty accurate I don't predict as they did earlier in the second season will come down that Buffalo game. Well undoubtedly I think probably to the -- and things I do think that the Patriots could have a playoff spot -- And if they win this Saturday or they when this Sunday I think they'll have a playoff -- I think ultimately they'll give him. Whether or not they are division champion are not could certainly come down that last game at Buffalo."

Play from 18:07[18:07]" Yeah and you know it's it's unfortunate that if they come down to a tiebreaker you know -- Colts are going to win their their division now. But let's say comes down to the Patriots in second in the AFC east and the Colts and second. In the AFC south. The Colts have that's ever it is they want to head to head well that's true the end I hope the bulk of those guys are going to get and now let's hope it doesn't come down to the AFC west the Chargers coming in second because if -- Girardi two games back to their or eight. -- I mean right -- right now have a two game lead you know on them they do but let's say something weird happens in the next week if they become tied right. They lost that they had that the charges threw down. Yeah I realized that I -- I'm not even -- it's hard right now where I'm are just looking at the whole field of playoff possibilities and thing. You know that New England really better win the division. While I'm pagan under and they can't really hope to get awhile now although statistically speaking -- on me it is New England it's Miami. And it. -- well. Indianapolis Indianapolis now Aaliyah and -- Baltimore in Baltimore thank you that was from the Jackson probably not right now and Baltimore the fourteen basically fighting for two -- right now. And it could be more. As the season goes on as I -- that I don't think it's all going to shake out until week seventy. While ultimately won't but is or has any chance to win the division and you you're so just as the Patriots need to think about winning this division after getting and I think this week. Yeah you need to beat Miami right now you have to divisional losses and a quarter third divisional loss right you'll lose all tie -- but -- lose your. Breakers if you're at that time as you've got to before -- in the division especially. Having both of vote to those -- against. Miami -- and and New York yeah. You've you've got to find what you got to win game permanently they split with New York you're -- you gotta pull out all the top all the ops and then of course then -- next critical game will be that that last game against Buffalo but. This as far as I'm concerned that -- you play to win year you don't worry about you know week twelve week thirteen week seventy or about the year. You worry about this one actually. Oh. It is I don't worry about it ain't -- you know the off week always come down here. In eleven games. Actually -- twelfth so don't worry about week thirteen -- beyond you worry about this when you -- win this before you can even think about the next now and the one never more open now never more now that should never be a problem these guys them hallway but frankly some times I. I have to admit especially -- of the divisional game I just don't seeing. Urgency like on the -- You know against mother teams all of it has to do with the fact that they've been beating up on divisional opponents and that -- 37 and eleven. Against a divisional opponents to those want what's best record in the NFL FL -- overall against division -- against teams within your -- division. In 2001 of hatred for approval and so. I'm wondering -- maybe just over time now when you beat the crap but it is immune systems are taken for granted naturally if that's not human nature."

Play from 21:22[21:22]" Well. I think they got there wake up call with the Miami team and we were I hope and I really don't expect -- come on planet like they did then. Well there we wait at plus with this week having the extra data work. Because they played last there's that other they're here today today is actually on Wednesday they gonna have to Wednesday's this week for all intent and purpose John. They're typical Wednesday is starting today and they'll have today again tomorrow. And then their regular Thursday Friday schedule so they're having an extra day and I think and I couldn't have come against the better opponent in this one because of what happened and we theory. So. I don't expect -- to look like they did back then there are different team -- the different quarterback they've learned their lesson on defense I know. I'm confident that there they're going to c'mon. And and handle at this time."

Play from 22:10[22:10]" One other thing about very tough obviously yeah yeah one other thing about -- from a unit though -- I did not realizes he -- not. But 62 yards rushing he had was the most by a Patriot quarterback in thirty years. I didn't know that but I'm not -- I find that remarkable. It would the most in any game by any Patriot quarterback all the than Steve Grogan. In the yard performers the sixth highest single game total for a quarterback in Patriots history Grogan as the franchise record. He rushed for a 103 yards against the Jets back in nineteen and -- was pretty weird. But Grogan had the last sixty yard rushing game. Against Oakland back in 1978. While. Most in thirty years for baker quarterback. -- that -- you know -- the -- your game and you know the -- total -- for a QB -- the NFL AFL -- And -- that's -- regulation -- and -- get the ball went over -- you -- an -- you know he -- the -- that obviously -- didn't get the -- because I think a lot of people feel -- the ball. In the -- Is one stop of that game thirty they've seen what on your own sixteen you are on the the only on the opposing team aren't like yeah. Or fifteen yard line and fifty yard line and you give up a sixteen yard game."

Play from 23:37[23:37]" Actually given up a fourteen yard gain and then. -- whether you know to make the tackle on on Keller and the extra two yards in Everett. Maybe a better hit and he doesn't get -- but you want to I was thinking of was that overthrown touchdown to wide open Randy Moss. -- change the complex all the time now no -- that was certainly you can only one -- you know shoulders on the island is it was overthrown. Was overthrown. You know I wonder if if there was overthrown now because. Moss has been listed lately and injure the foot injury. And I think he does and -- I I wonder if that has affected his performance out twice in the last few weeks Cassel pass downfield. And it's been overthrown. And that never happens. We have to admit I I just I just want their -- end of regulation was pretty remarkable or was but as far as it would having to do -- injured right potentially but. But as far as -- breakaway speed getting open downfield. I just I just wonder that has affected Moss at all the fact that he's been with the with that and we seem to over the -- the big thing with him was always you can never overthrow him asking that it will not when as -- talk though. We -- that's --"

Play from 24:54[24:54]" I again I understand it completely -- folks as many of you were familiar with the program are aware this is nitpick Tuesday. So you know if you still have some -- that you need to pick over last Thursday 3431. What was what was it was a 3040 or do you think there -- put up the court 3431 overtime loss to the Jets all I you know please. Feel free email those web radio Patriots dot com at the address that the it'll this year. 5854370. Or 82 is that telephone number and number as well you can call in. Really that I have I'm actually kind of in an interest in player. Glad that this in this which -- in the last game is give me changed reflect a little bit and really decide what was important in a negative. About the game personable feeling of -- nutritional lost again. Should not lost that game. Yeah disappointing -- put that much effort becoming a lot of effort into coming back. Problem is they should of phone that 24 to six hole begin with but again that's all on the -- and children -- I I have to admit that you know two things stand out number one. Killer. How they could not keep him from ripping them right up the middle time and time again anyway had a touchdown that defeat and drop the wide open how can you not just event. I I I'm totally and completely baffled by that. After the first drive of the game when he ripped him for a couple of the -- how do you not adjust that idea not account for well."

Play from 26:25[26:25]" It was its interest in John that the first half they seem like the Patriots could do nothing right. Then at the end when they win Gaffney caught that touchdown of naked and it was 2413. And a half. It seemed like from that point on the Patriots could do nothing wrong. They came on the second half and they were stopping. Favre and the Jets offense at every turn and they were moving the ball at will it was ridiculous how easy they could move the ball downfield. They shot themselves in the foot twice in the third quarter. Once when when Watson caused his own fumble. And then when Colt Brennan and Cassel miss timed the snap there and they they lost about point five yards and one play. Because I think again that changed the whole momentum of the game I mean eventually they tied it up but they -- had more of -- lead at the end there and it would've gone in overtime. So in -- way -- I'm. Up I'm I'm. Happy with the way they were able to come back. But very disappointed and in all of the missed opportunities that they. And defensively. They made enough it it Vince and bill said afterwards they didn't really make many adjustments in the game we'll just execute. What I had people like him a little bit now like okay. -- why did you how did you not you know finally it would just the -- in being wide open up the middle. That's true and it has it it's amazing that it without making many adjustments if if we're to believe what he said and we have no reason not to. How different the two halves where like I said at the Jets did everything right -- and everything wrong in the first half it was vice versa. In the second half until the very last drive when the Jets had the time at at two at the score and they did. And then New England had to score and get into overtime and in the Jets get the ball in overtime and they could move. I just I don't understand how it happened and it is puzzling like you said that Keller was able to make those plays. When they played the Dolphins few weeks ago the first time around. That middle of the field was a soft spot too and are getting burned there all game they took away the deep and the and the edges on Pennington but he carved them up in the middle. We saw the same thing with the Jets and I think they have to find a way to do something to protect that middle this week against the Dolphins. -- it's going to be the same story."

Play from 28:42[28:42]" Now that that that the one nitpick that stands out and the -- the second one is them. Is a little while at this point I'm a little less well I guess it it's a little more defined -- I give -- credit for being. I'm ready to put. In my -- there's a completely personal opinion okay. I'm ready to put Benjamin Watson Laurence Maroney category."

Play from 29:08[29:08]" I think a lot of people -- I realized that his overall numbers. You know early or were pretty good but it just seems like. You know he can't make the routine plays. He gets no -- big no yards after the catch which is what we thought we were getting when we got the guys like or like god here's a tied in with wide receiver speed. And now we're not seeing it he has all the intellectual I and I I have to admit you know and any drops some of the most simplest plays in in blows from the most simplest route. I am I -- certainly having the picture got more production out of him in the than they have got a Maroney but. I'm about ready I think justice to put him in that -- category album I'm ready to move on here from this particular person he's -- find somebody else he's had his chance he's had his chance and he's he. I'm mystified every week when I see him he makes like you said some of the most ridiculous catches. Seem easy. And some of the easiest catches again -- with the fumble. He caused his own fumble he was sort of put two hands on the ball and knocked it on opted out of his own hands on and I how to understand I mean that's his you know that's. That. Personal discipline I mean you can't could. That it's a lack of awareness. And if you have a lack of attention to detail in your business what usually happens Eric."

Play from 30:28[30:28]" you get included rooted for someone else right which had me wondering during the game they kept throwing his -- lot. -- kept finding him open and throwing to him and at one point at the -- the taller -- and that. We're David Thomas. He certainly proven that he can catch the ball no doubt we can lay out the -- yeah. I was wondering where he would he's when -- guys from Texas and he's certainly since he's gotten here shown that he can get the ball the why wasn't he in the game I don't know and it didn't seem like they were using. The tight end for a lot of blocking and running game there was it was predominantly as as a pass catcher. He has been starting games over Watson. For the most part and Watson has come in and and and run as our locker room luxury he has been there and they get thrown in the bowl I'm thinking -- in some. That's another thing that I I -- read anything into the signing of foot Tyson delivery. In this mean maybe. Yeah I think -- I mean. Like -- here it's curious to me that that'd defensive back -- now and they didn't replace him with a defensive back. Because I think that's an area where they need as much depth that they can get that gift ID and we -- and thought maybe it maybe they -- a day. Maybe they feel like they need help at tight end to do as much you know happen no rentals in what his contract situations watts who's -- And."

Play from 31:54[31:54]" I don't often at Laguna but you know I just kinda curious I just I I think that think he's going to be a free agent. Well record be if I seem to think that if that is the case. It's time to move on. That in my -- as you got familiar with Maroney and so. You know that'd be some New Hampshire will discuss. Don't we approach the draft and and and next summer and over the L. In my guess is I think he's an odds on favorite stick around one more year that's just my guess running yeah. He'll have his chance I think he'll I think he'll get one more I don't always it'll be Chad Jackson redux. Yeah I think he's going to get one more shot but what's gonna happen is he's going to fail miserably but you need to make any kind of an impact player he's got a very and is going to be chair Jack you know. Part -- you're actually write -- I totally agree with us. So I mean why waste the time really but I think the Patriots are going to use the benefit them up because he's a first round draft pick I think with a lot because he was a first world. Was -- for the first he was the first -- Taylor the first half and he was a first round pick. My guess is they're going to continue. In -- to give him the opportunity this season if he's -- agent right. This he's going to get all the chances Campbell in the off season they've got to make a move on the guy and say. Yeah very disappointing and I hope when you look at the guy you'd think probably how can this not you know to take -- from almost natives in the -- and in close that I would now. Name escapes -- you know you know what -- the kids in Oklahoma State. He's really tired and yeah really good he's big and he's got him through gender in Europe at that. Yeah Oklahoma State that I buy on against some -- game against Missouri in the eye on again there -- tech. Route of the related. Yeah he's got you know the ability couple lines good decent speed but he's just he liked -- a Evans a huge hit. Big Ukrainian headed girl got a group thank you Brandon Pettigrew. Brandon art but he's -- And Todd -- Shea and milk hyper and a couple of other people. Who have him right at the top of the -- analyst you know in terms of vote draft eligible guys play that position. Actually you anymore they want you mark the actual actual work out by thing -- watching and we do we actually get the talk -- guys afterwards. In in like the big media work room which is great because you get to a different side -- we don't really get to -- workouts. So you're you're really beating us and that and but we get it yet. More via the mental aspect of personal aspect which is which is good though because you can learn a lot about. I don't play that way it's a fund. Four days it's very busy very regimented but you get a lot of stuff done and you you UC everybody in the lower right after the it's usually the end of February yeah well it's usually Pro Bowl they take two weeks off and then come and come. Up pretty quickly there."

Play from 35:10[35:10]" Our web radio at Patriots dot com email address so we're looking for you -- from the game on Thursday but. Frankly we're looking for your nit pick overall this team through you know ten game. And in all I'm not sure. A -- is entirely correct the -- this day's game I mean I think the season is far along enough along now where you almost have to plug holes. It was not the villain caption almost have to make do I don't know that you have enough time what you go past the halfway point in the season as we have now. I'm not sure at least in my thought process here that you have enough time -- relief. Fix things and permanent nature I think it almost stopgap and it'll. You know -- of the offseason and I don't you feel about that but in terms of you know where you are nit picks are and where you or most disappointed with with this football team. Bomb that -- kind of focus in on number one and number two before I'd let you go -- your work here I'd be remiss but it -- thought about the Dolphins because. Obviously you know we did -- we're going to start focused a little more more quickly on the ball this week and is such a huge game anyway mean. The picture actually 25 points worse off the Miami."

Play from 36:19[36:19]" Well let me start with your your previous -- and you know about a month or so ago maybe six weeks ago we talked about how the schedule breaks up into quarters. First four weeks you kind of get a you don't really know where you are you're sort of trying to figure out who you are after the eighth game which about mid season you kinda have an idea of who you are going to be and by the third quarter the twelfth game. You you pretty much know what you got. And then it's it's bring those last four games to try to either make the playoffs -- to finish the season and -- arriving at at everywhere -- that point I think we know what kind of team we had. We have we have a a quarterback who's played. Much better every week. Better than I think most people expected when the season started and like you said earlier that they're not the team is not losing games because their quarterback -- just the opposite I think there. There actually starting to and his Jets team would have been a perfect on they would have been winning games because this quarterback Peyton. So you've got a team where on offense I don't think there's much of a change. From last year you've got a a a a good passer and a great running game you got a solid offensive line. The offense. We know what we have an office. On defense. Little more skeptical because we don't know what we have week two weeks some weeks the defense looks like they're getting pressure they're playing on the secondary. Other weeks like against the Jets they let a big lead go up. And that defying all the way back so they're more questions in my mind defensively than there are offensively I don't really have a problem with the offense at this point. Defensively. It is their consistency they're not showing the same thing every week I can't rely on. The deal line every week I can't rely on the defensive backs every week one personally Carolina every week it seems as Jerod Mayo and which is good because he's your first round pick you hide his top ten pick. So I think of all the things. The defenses. Still where we work eight weeks ago where we didn't really know we had with them and their a lot of injuries that they've had to overcome and I applaud them. For being at least in this points still being in the hunt at this point. But but we've taken shape but it's also in a year where a lot of teams are good and a lot of teams aren't good if that makes sense well it sort of it. Parity has really -- the end of the year we didn't think -- was a dominating team -- the NFL is kind of looks like there might be a couple there a couple of -- really good in our head and shoulders above their -- Austria in the -- the -- that is right and probably about fifteen other teams that you will open after the right now that the Patriots -- right on the verge of being and that -- fifteen -- India and -- fighting for and and I think they're doing a good job of staying in it despite all the injuries and other teams have injuries to but the Patriots -- really been hit hard this year -- they were really lucky last year. They've been just unlucky this year and it had way more injuries than most other teams about the Buick but they're they're coming through the people -- that -- are coming through. So I think that's where we are with this team I I feel confident in the offense is on the field. And I have my questions when the defense on the field. You need a playmaker to them is that ball -- and make a play well I think it's time you know we like you said Mayo started -- Staying in the middle making tackles against Iran now slowly he's starting to drop back into coverage and look to see him. Rush the quarterback a little more maybe make an interception return for touchdown or something like that. Maybe start making more those kind of plays now -- from earlier what you see here and you're down one playmaker without a -- Tom yeah you know on the Phillies that the -- be that person that can make that stop. Or that can make that. You need to play in the right in the that's that's the difference is sorely lacking. I kept thinking you know while the Jets were driving in overtime. I can think of is still going to play much in the -- of Gary Guyton made a great knocked down on that second and yeah I've seen him. And you had to figure okay third and fifteen enactment of this up and they did unfortunately. But we've reverting Weaver to cover that -- To answer your other question about Miami -- its interest -- there there there are much better team. Under Sparano and his first year that night that I expected and no doubt coach I -- I never expected them to be in this position at this point coach of the year's -- I thought maybe. I thought maybe four. Five wins would be. What you could expect that team I think people would be a success or turn around three or four would be a step for the operator action in a voice surpassed what I thought and they're doing it. In a way to nobody expect it and running a college office. But it's worked given credit it's worked him credit you know I just I wonder now if this is the time of year where there's enough of a book on that offense. Like when -- when New England played Philly last year they were blowing teams out of that point. Philly finally figured out the book on how to play this team and from that point on all the games were close. You remember when I wonder if we're now getting to that point in the season where is the wildcat is. Has developed enough of a book. That teams can -- are we know what we're doing not this and I wonder that. You know mean they barely beat the rated they'd they'd statistically date they killed the greater but it came down to a field goal at the generals who lost action. And somebody in in the the press conference they pointed out that there were charting how many while -- The Dolphins ran in the -- only ran one successfully and it was scoring drive the number. Either short gains or or no wish -- go to Miami does and half a dozen times I'm sure they in his right based on the ball -- I'm sure they're going to try it but. But it's like I said they've done a great job Ron Allen and turn in his -- having a great year Pennington playing a lot better -- thought it would have played. Brown and Williams are playing out of their minds. I never expected that water fuel injected his troubles in the league in credit so they're winning but I wonder if now they are the slightly B -- a little bit mortal this game will be telling him if they can beat the Patriots why. Then they're for real than their Perot if -- read in England limit who's going to win. Just because you can't have a relationship of one over extended period of time. And not be a little a little bit of a loss round here. I know I don't know to what extent people that put the worst month of cut back here at Gillette Stadium over the course of the last a few days. And the game last Thursday night and there were a couple of people involved in the marketing department. And with PFW staff that had worked very closely with. Our web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. This comes from our friend John. And John says John a lot talk about on this long stretch and Thursday's game. Overall a very good performance with a few issues in the process. Cassel looked great but still has no long ball. Secondary is stepping up but still showing their vulnerability. Special teams looked to struggled a bit. The -- on goal was inexcusable when he started -- instinctively put his hands of the breaking ball. And that they be final play but don't put out what your holding a ball and he has got a first down I couldn't agree more. I mean you know the year breaker falling you can formidable I had just I mean that's just unconscionable for a football player. To do -- the ball first. That means you take a billion tickets available ball is -- Eric mentioned it is a little while ago -- You know that was just inexcusable formal. And Donald is is the premature that was not even close. You know with the ball went over a cast that he today at a ticket 25 yard loss. Cassel directing traffic as the ball went by not calling for the ball. Yeah I don't know that but sufficiently explain what happened there I don't know that -- but he financed and open about it Copeland had a rough night himself that thing literally. And don't you know it was not one of his finer moment to -- certain. But that play certainly took the Patriots out of Sloan. You know scoring position in terms of the drive that was a drive killer there ever was one. And another drop by Gaffney and the drop by Watson I was pulling my hero by halftime doubt. And the job as number two the bad calls by the -- I don't want to get client call on them if these sort of they were awful one proof opening kickoff rape and eventually gets lit up hard. Immediately after the hit his blocker dropped on top of -- thrown his hands on central shoulders pulling him down and getting it is not that. The holding call on Vrabel the non call on half our receiving corps. Randy Moss making an amazing end zone gravel giving Ty Law in the piggyback -- job I have to admit the dome the holding call on dribbled the goal line it was a it was a pretty bad call we can say it now it was a bad call. The problem is though is that you know when -- working in the area and an official thinks he's he's on the he's going to throw the flag he's not going to go and what that I really neat and it there and analyze it is his first instinct is to throw the flag. And that if he's really wrong gets overruled on it will that he can pick like up but no overrule them on the flag is going to stay. This is where. You're guilty until proven in -- rather than your innocent until proven guilty. In football as in. Most officiating calls in sports. You're guilty until proven and it's and that is a perfect example of you know he's in the area he's in the neighborhood there standing you know behind one another right there on the goal line and all you know he receivers not moving so. Body. Have been holding. Well as we all know from -- for the review no they weren't. But the referee didn't pick up flag and unfortunately Patriots cut you know killed on the so. Yes. They were if he calls that were bad calls okay but. Those really can't be the excuse for losing football. Bomb that. Just kind of part of doing business you know in the NFL you have to try to way to overcome the bad call most of the time the Patriots team is able to do that. I think we'll realize they've they've. Got a pretty good history of putting themselves in position to win games even win. You know calls going against them but this team is fragile enough -- stage where you know they do need the benefit of calls to help them -- and -- give them an opportunity. And they did not get that on Thursday nights -- thought and they all hurt they'll hurt. Jack. This is a request to any and all members of the offensive line. You have the chance can you please. Based on the kind of guy that I think Matt Cassel is and that based in my talking to the -- And based on listening to what he's had to say and he's moved in as the starting quarterback."

Play from 1:06:32[1:06:32]" Just a --"

Play from 1:06:35[1:06:35]" Ultimately I do not believe that -- will be here next year. I think you'll be able to go find himself. You know good solid multi million dollar deal for several years you probably have a chance to start you know at a place like. San Francisco. If Brett Favre retires from New York he could end up with the Jets. And then back cast becomes you know. Persona non Grata in enemy number one day after I guess -- ingenious and end it don't but you can't blame the guy. Because of there's a job."

Play from 1:07:08[1:07:08]" Opening I mean you know it's just like you if you work for FedEx. And FedEx lazy law and UPS is gone for your gig and what do allegiance do you have to FedEx -- you gotta take the job UP."

Play from 1:07:24[1:07:24]" In good. Even if you don't get laid off."

Play from 1:07:29[1:07:29]" prophetic UPS make you better offer. Their hours more per day maybe more times and his family go to UPS. Same thing here to have it -- gets the ball past but you can't blame the guy. Second I think could very easily transpire in the off it absolutely could. Believable scenario."

Play from 1:07:54[1:07:54]" I don't happen to think that Favre is going to retire again so I think it'll end up rendering the point move. But I do think though that a place like San Francisco may be a place like Seattle. Wants -- who else might be looking for quarterbacks. Those two spot at least. Maybe maybe Kansas City maybe."

Play from 1:08:18[1:08:18]" Plays like that Kabila -- they're probably four or five spots that be looking potentially -- for quarterbacks. And if he gets an opportunity to be the starter yeah he's going to that's going to be his priority and it should be. This like it would be with you were you if you were and he issues that we have to take a step back. And we have to wrong we really have to try to put. Art hills and someone else's shoes I -- it's hard enough to do quite well you know what kind of do all the time will like think that we were capable of being athletes. Playing at that high level and they gonna -- even though none of us are. A law. We have which silverback -- shoes released a split second here you know what it if I. They've gone through what he had gone through and I had a chance to do this. It'd be stupid absolutely stupid not to do."

Play from 1:09:10[1:09:10]" Not to -- Gotta do in that regard."

Play from 1:09:16[1:09:16]" You know it that will be one of the major major stories of the off season once we get to that point in time. That'll be paid a big thing for all of us to follow on in the bring the draft. You know. Mini mini camp you know timeframe between you know April and in the 1 July. So that three month period between April 1 in July 1. You know one. Rosters are shuffling guys -- cut deals and before you know when you go to your road you know -- passing camps in your rookie camps and you know you go to the draft process and then. Of course your 1 July you're roughly three to four weeks away from training camp actually getting started. On that'll be the big that'll be a big if not the big topic of conversation. So that'll be down. I don't want to look at. Kansas that will be a lot of hello you know comforting to go through but it will be on. All right Jack as my concerns about Miami. I know that in the Jets game we went to an all passing offense but did you notice the absence of Benjarvis green -- to go. Even fewer runs that were made in the second half run by Kevin Faulk Heath Evans. And I'm hoping it's just my imagination but when I don't see the RV group out there in the group out there -- panic. All the entries can you blame."

Play from 1:10:41[1:10:41]" Well. Because I think he sort of answer your question Jack because they were in the passing mode I mean you're down eighteen points right down 2.0. He could -- you're away. It to give back you know this -- quickly as possible. Hum. And even ES in the second half that they were still largely come from behind and so. They like Kevin Faulk and Heath Evans better as in pass catching and -- pass blocking option. That's what they were out there. Had nothing really do with Benjarvis Green-Ellis is. You know ability to run or or what have you is just that they were better options out that's what they have those guys. You know guys have roles on the team remember so because they have role in the papers are going to the dedicated to put guys in position to succeed. Mike keeping them in their roles in which they it would -- what's -- play well. I really believe that all that it was. Sure it'll of immoral but then that would call for more instances what -- the football league just were not in a position to do that."

Play from 1:11:47[1:11:47]" Golf is what happened -- that one year to year you went consistent. You know Eric galloping on -- just opined about that in the opening -- of the program today and zone. Like I said earlier I'm I believe now that I have arrived at that point I am ready to put Ben Watson in the same category -- want -- Classic. Under achiever. Not ready yet the column plus. I'm probably closer to calling Maroney book. That I am Watson. But I certainly will put the two of them together. In the classic under achiever category."

Play from 1:12:26[1:12:26]" You have to -- first round draft picks. Is he the one. Stood out over the for the negative. To you."

Play from 1:12:36[1:12:36]" Now when. That's -- The things that stand out about lots of his spectacular gaffe. Fumble for instance you know against the jet last -- you know it's just while. Inconsistent as the case I I I do believe that there -- they're probably getting ready to. Look at other options where that's concerned. I do think -- get the rest of the year you're -- teams still out there and I think he has an opportunity -- let me put this. I believe he has an opportunity to put himself back into. You know everyone's good graces this year. I do believe that. You know we see a few more eight catch you know eighty yard games out of a -- and without the spectacular -- involved. You know the big drops and fumbles or -- what have you then yeah I think that he could still hang on and and be part of this franchise for the foreseeable future short. Are -- the opportunity is still there. But. I'd I'd be willing to you know that you plug nickel now that he doesn't do that just like I'm willing to wager plug nickel that you know Laurence Maroney will. Didn't beat -- you know. Or it was said earlier thumb. Jackson revisited. Zone you know that again who knows. Are -- is that was heartbreaking loss against the Jets but I hope that it showed the team what they are capable of coming back from 24 X. Shutting the -- down for almost the entire second half. 500 yards plausible offense that's right. There's -- there's legal would go to Miami beat the living crap out of in my one of the Brady like fifty to three game show quarter. Yeah. -- like. It you know let me go back -- just but he pointed out here the 500 yards of offense. All the most total net yards and -- game for the team's 1979. Did you see that note. You know 511. Total net yards. It was 386 passing that when you take away -- The -- Russian acts are and 125 rush for the past. -- franchise's highest offensive output. And gaining a franchise record 597. Yards. On in 1979 against. Jets."

Play from 1:14:59[1:14:59]" 511 total net. I 79 the fourth highest single game total in team history. Last year and that record setting scoring. And -- touchdown throwing. And catching easier for the Patriots of their highest total office was 510. Net yards at Buffalo. One year ago fact one year ago today exactly it was November 18. 2007. Come on old 511 past even. Anything that they did last year. Just it it tells me and should show you. That offensively this team is is beginning to round into shape now that Matt Cassel is getting yet. Yes sure you've got injuries you've had injuries in the running backs and with the receivers and yeah a little bit -- answer with a quarterback in the office there's not a facet of the offense that has not. Been touched by an injury. But even some old this alternate is getting it now is starting to pick it up and is starting to increase its production. But as I said of the opening -- today that's not my chief nitpick today it is with the defects in the fact that they. Just don't seem capable of making in game adjustments. Like they have in previous years this is what that team was all. -- In the global television the year. That they identify something in the first quarter but second quarter it was done. Or it was on the in the first half of the second quarter at halftime make the adjustment second half different story. You don't know what I know what we all saw it we all witnessed it. And yet these these in game adjustments don't seem to be as prevalent. As they used and that troubles me a little bit are not sure. That it so much the coaches. It is the players not. Being able to do the adjusting. That I'm not sure about now it is a little bit alarming to hear Bill Belichick say you know that was really need to adjust. When you see you know guy like -- you know dashed the Patriots up the middle you know you know not only you know on the first of the ball game but in the overtime. That was supposed to been problems salt. I just I -- well may. There's no excuse for -- and you know may be -- that -- at the group that put the coaching staff. That should have been a correct double problem and it just wasn't."

Play from 1:17:43[1:17:43]" And again maybe it is and do some of the experience and there may be there were a couple of guys in the wrong place. Otherwise it would have -- it's possible. You know I don't have the benefit of you know. Looking at plays a look at the film over and over again like staff doesn't like the players and I don't have that benefit here medical largely on memory and apply."

Play from 1:18:03[1:18:03]" It's possible. But it was out of position that they had you know. The thought prost at least -- placed to to make the adjustment but it just was not -- acute. But want to hear someone say well we didn't really see the need to adjust and come like what are you look at it. What my look at that somebody please help with a winning here. What are we look at it looked like c'mon. Seriously. All right the one yeah out Todd and simple one is here's -- cover the -- I'd end. Yeah well -- goes doesn't. You know is kind of."

Play from 1:18:40[1:18:40]" If you thought process that aren't we don't know the cover the tight end was was largely. Job it was left to. Rodney Harrison. In his particular position. It doesn't seem to me based on Harrison's absence of that -- early falls. On the shoulders of a Brandon Meriweather."

Play from 1:19:03[1:19:03]" Do we really know definitively whose job it is to cover the tight -- He was seen a little bit of it all the Jerod Mayo. Com. Wish all of it up but you know today it was Thomas. Forty was hurt. We're seeing how it certainly from Brandon Meriweather although he's really moral coverage safety than anything else. You know and rolling over the top -- doubling on the wide receivers based on what I've."

Play from 1:19:30[1:19:30]" I mean -- their three or four. Different options here."

Play from 1:19:35[1:19:35]" To gain you know the responsibility of the -- in coming out of the coming out of ever come and other off the offensive line."

Play from 1:19:44[1:19:44]" And maybe. May be that -- by design that would because they don't have Rodney Harrison who could do that ended be responsible for his other. You know duties as other responsibilities that possibility."

Play from 1:19:58[1:19:58]" But -- right it was it was it was a gaping. -- Among those things absolutely gave. Aren't let me get this one from John in -- and the breaks your thumb. In earlier email image and the refs again the non calls are getting worst in the blown call. -- talking about Moss being overthrown that was not his fault. Corner that was covering him not log grab Moss has arm and held him from going down field. -- Moss broke away he was caught. For the delay cost in those yards put him out of reach well then shame on the arm on the shame on the -- and officiating group. If that indeed is the case John and I again I don't have the benefit of of going back and looking at the film here. But if if that is the case then. You -- on the that would certainly explain. Because he was overthrown by quite a bit was not if he was held -- the officials should be you know reprimanded. Every week he says all over the NFL -- admitting that they are making blown call. Summer change in the outcome of games. Company rough whatever admit that a bad call at Vegas that they make all these mistakes then why is it that they can't be critics. Well because. It is your player or coach you can't outwardly criticized provision under on you would under mind -- authority to make calls on the field. The past be it it's like being in the military you have to have a total authoritarian here is the only way that it works. If -- everybody questions that nothing will get done. And then you have -- So I understand why players and coaches cannot criticize -- between you and I can't criticize we can't and we do often. But a lot of times though criticism of officials blowing calls has looked at as penal. Are great whining and moaning. Mixing and matching in in all kinds of stuff. Especially if you lost the game because the Patriots lost the game well someone listening -- the outside you're his you're disappointed that you lost. I understand -- because we're looking for what your point of view we might say the same thing. All the criticism. Has no -- doesn't have any shelf and it just it dies and we just go one of the next game. Fortunately when you haven't of the game to play it's easier to let bad calls you know. Why don't you back up like quarter -- the ducks' backs you know the cliches can get injured thumb. But it's true so it's not that can't be criticizes that criticizing them is. Destructive rather than constructive. Opening opening. By the way they call on the it in the in the Pittsburgh game Pittsburgh San Diego game. On the last play of the game Troy Polamalu recover the fumble in in in scored an apparent touchdown. That would have made it at worst seventeen to ten and eighteen to ten win over the Steelers rather than the eleventh and final -- was. And the officials and that they blew the call. -- now. -- power all I can say biggest and a -- you're probably aware that. Brought on a game with what Pittsburgh and three your three and a half of the it was a difficult. And obviously if that touchdown had counted. There will be a lot of people who took the Steelers who won that game and ended up losing the game as an admitted call by the official. Now here's what's gonna happen kids in the game just my own personal -- But what's going to happen here is that we have for instance like this where -- blow calls. That have to that it about cut at this would not have changed the winter or the loser of the game. Okay. Obviously it was already 1110. And so because of that this is why you don't see the NFL really getting involved here. And it probably means you may be a reprimand but nobody's going to lose -- digger lose a job because of it because it didn't affect. The outcome of a game. Of course NFL. They'll tell you we could care less about points right. Understand that they official that's that's what they have they even though we all know that people you know gamble on. NFL game is the single biggest sport I think it is gamble on in this country. Professional football. -- terms of you know a deaf ear and a blind eye to. For the most part."

Play from 1:24:22[1:24:22]" But if these kind of things still happen and continue to happen then I I think you're going to have some sort of you know system of adjudication put into place. And this all -- and I heard this conversation. Last week as well a couple of talk shows about how. Why officials. Or not you're around employees of the NFL you know football officials. You know they officiate games six months out of the year they work football experts earlier than they have normal job regular job like you know. In other school teachers a lot of them are insurance sales people were attorneys there you know would have. You know and salespeople. That these kind of job where you can you know still work and they'll do them you know job that you have you know."

Play from 1:25:08[1:25:08]" And lest you were ready less than actual -- is ready to make these people full time employees the NFL. Arm. You gonna have this from planet. Is going to happen as part of thing I don't know the world -- to have. You know -- officials we have your round players obviously up until you know probably twenty years ago we didn't have that players used. You know as we've talked about many times players used you know training camp to get into shape. For trading. Even now it's a year round affair. Maybe I'm always start putting officials on call this -- concern but if you do. You know and that is during the offseason you have them you know. Look at they'll look at tape and seminars go to -- into everything else that the players you know do in order to stay sharp. So they don't blow these calls -- to be ordered to pay him and you have to be willing to put up with a bum. You also realize that there's always a human element okay I mean. We jump on players for being a bad plays and cap and dropped passes -- mental errors -- yeah on their year round professional athletes. They don't have offseason jobs -- more like they used to back and you know fifties and sixties and in in seventy don't have. In all these jobs anymore so you know if vote officials."

Play from 1:26:28[1:26:28]" Are told you can't have an off season -- more than you gotta be an official. There's still going to make mistakes doesn't mean you're gonna go pro phone. There's still going to make. Mistakes. So much -- really -- the point making the initial full time full blown employees of the NFL. I think you have to realize that. Officials are human we do have a videotape system in place you know take care of the league -- errors. And while that was a doozy of the tail end of the Pittsburgh San Diego game I can't in all honesty that you know because it wasn't a game changing call. It was an egregious yeah. It wasn't. Narrow it down to one -- In Ottawa one game. You know when you have them the benefit of a point one behind right but I think going and yeah I have to agree here right this is the game I mean the Patriots three and two two and two in division play. They cannot afford to lose third divisional game. Especially if you have both the Jets and and the Dolphins. It well certainly the Dolphins if they win this game look at this is we'll get a from a matter of fact -- Dolphins in this game they moved heaven for."

Play from 1:33:13[1:33:13]" Baker dropped it and why."

Play from 1:33:16[1:33:16]" And in effect it is a two game lead over the Patriots because the Dolphins would've swept the pitcher by will hold the tiebreaker. So one game lead mean squat because they still hold the lead it would be a two game lead over the Patriots. So you're going to lose any and every tiebreaker. That you would have with the Dolphins. And the Jets. Even if they lose to Tennessee this week which certainly is going to be a handful for the Jets but you know what. Right now I think I'm one of the few people to give the Jets shot that game why not. Their offense -- as well as it has all year. Tennessee is coming in feel pretty good about themselves that I don't know I certainly think that the Jets have an opportunity a couple of major surprise -- do. I -- sure how major surprise it would be."

Play from 1:34:05[1:34:05]" Don't be shocked if that happens. Now I'd I'd. You know push comes to shove I'd say right now and in the Tuesday speaking to -- I'd say as of Tuesday here at 3:37 eastern time. In the afternoon I'd have to say the Tennessee where -- a favorite. It would probably when the game but I would not be shocked -- the Jets and again."

Play from 1:34:26[1:34:26]" If Tennessee wins it then that -- you know that that knocks the jet back to. Evidence for. And the winner of the survivor of Patriots Dolphins is also evident for."

Play from 1:34:40[1:34:40]" And if it happens to be the Patriots -- them some four and you had beaten the Jets. You know earlier in September and you lost an -- one and one in the first tiebreaker. So the next tiebreaker comes to what welcome to conference play. Conference. And because of that you probably if you're if you're Jets hater. You probably root for Tennessee to win that game does that will be a conference game would be a conference lost."

Play from 1:35:08[1:35:08]" So on these are all things that. Are important at this stage -- the -- as we start scoreboard watching here in the AFC east -- and I realize where a lot of the fans rally AFC east this one thing because. You know this is going to division the Patriots have won five years and Ron Allen in Allen hasn't been a lot of fun for. You know fans of the Dolphins of the jet certain the bill. Animal last year's Patriots winning everything I guess that I totally understand that. All things are cyclical in life and this year it has come back around a little bit. And that's why it's made for interesting discussion and and you know he's given us you know little bit more to have to consider it a week in and week out. I think in a perfect world if the Patriots had stayed healthy this year we're not having this discussion now. And I realized that it's not a perfect world and that injuries are not an excuse nobody's ever really used them around here we're not going to use the major. You know guys have to step up you know you you've had built this organizational point where you're bragging and in all Patriots fans. Bragging about the depth that this organization has this depth this team -- time he's an adept come through. It offensively speaking the depth has come through. They are we picking the depth has not. For the most part come through. Now maybe have to go back and offseason and do better job building up your depth now we know that was a problem going into this previous off season. They won only drafted guard Jerod Mayo. That was a big reason behind it but that was in the just Jerod Mayo is not going to solve the problem."

Play from 1:36:47[1:36:47]" Patriots could use another Russian. They give usable linebacker they could certainly use corners up the -- who could they not yeah I will realize that. So we will see this team definitively. Build it self I believed to offensively once again in the next offseason. That's that's the difference that's what this team needs right now more than anything else. But that having been said in terms of you know this week's game. There is actually no doubt in my mind. Did it this week you lose this game. You're behind the Jets at least by one game and may be -- Maybe two of people that win. David the -- as -- you win you know you have a chance you're only one week away from pulling even and potentially you know having a tiebreaker in your advantage. That's how important this week is. You do not have any room for their. Actually comes adult that you must. Beat the Dolphins. I think most of us realize that in the beginning of 2003. Patriots are sixteen and one in games. Following a loss. They just don't lose back to back. Patriots obviously villages last week in overtime over the last five plus he's in the path of lost back to back want that was. Two years ago on November 5 and November 12 that lost back to back. So that's a good thing does tell you that they you don't do take it week to week they do prepare. They've taken seriously."

Play from 1:38:29[1:38:29]" We we. In fact you know let's go back a couple of weeks and we knew we were getting ready to start this three game gauntlet through the -- the and we are talking about the Buffalo match -- and then you know the unity -- the Jets have that followed by the Dolphins. And so both for the three week stretch started we talk about how this is going to be the pivotal. You know. Time of the football he's because it was all against divisional opponents and that. I believe all of -- here. Patriots needed to go two and one that you go to wouldn't want to these three games. Then that at least be in decent shape for the stretch run of the season. Getting into the tail end of the November and into December and they have every opportunity to win the division."

Play from 1:39:10[1:39:10]" That is still the carry. That has not changed."

Play from 1:39:15[1:39:15]" You have to win this game. To go to who would want in this three game stretch. Hasn't changed at all."

Play from 1:39:25[1:39:25]" So because of that you know really shouldn't be any extra pressure here should. No of course not."

Play from 1:39:34[1:39:34]" Course so all in in that regard hum. When I'm telling anything new that's concerned this is all. All right in front and in as an athlete as a player. You know even his thing in all that you really need is shot all you really want is a chance. And that's of the -- Of Krista and does he knows the loss of Robby here is finally came back on Patriots. Brandon -- with a missed three tackles Rodney would have made in his. I don't Rodney come up to tackle Keller and third and fifteen to maybe not that ball well. You know on -- smokers are easy it's easy to say that now behind the fact is we don't know you'd like to think that -- here would have made that tackle. -- Brandon Meriweather. Very good physical talent but Brandon -- my liking does not. -- very good job of -- actually the open field he is rap guys up. Bring -- with a coach from the University of Miami school you know punching and by punching I mean you know hit him with a abolish. But he doesn't wrap them up you've noticed all you guys do that. If you're a Miami player are you try to hit them physically but you don't. Wrapped them -- It's one of the things that has driven me the most crazy things. About you know Miami players Miami defensive backs and they just they don't -- guys are very -- maybe that. That's changing but you know that the kind of product by product of Brandon Meriweather and for. So it'll say that Rodney would have made the tackle what we'd like to think. That he would have obviously we will never know from the one criticism he can't have his Brandon -- rap and a guy up. Which doesn't do very well. Jack what is the rule regarding non active players on the sidelines during the game while injured players and islands during the game -- wonder. Wouldn't have been amazing Tom Brady and Brady admitted parents and jet ski well. I don't think there's -- I don't think there's a rule per day. And do we know that at all I don't think there's a rule for say about non active players and I think that they NFL. Ask you not ahead of non active players the sideline but would you be penalized if you had won on the sideline. I don't know the answer to that I don't think -- I don't think. Fact is that if a guy like Tom Brady were on the sideline it would be too much of a three ring circus for a lot of the fans in the stands and in the television cameras would always focused on an end and no injured player. Who is an able to make a contribution to the team's -- on the field wants to put himself or his teammates and that kind of opposition. If Brady is there at all he's in a private box somewhere. When no one can GM and no one knows he's there. That -- the way it is they usually tell. Inactive players especially re having players to stay away on game. That's usually what. John in Fayetteville Georgia. This job if Cassel continues to play well this year here's what I think the pats should do if they put the franchise tag on him. They're very well. Other very well could be a team that will pick him up and pay the 21 round draft picks to get it could think of a better way to move open the draft the -- well. You know that is thought and and we did have an email earlier John that suggested. That maybe what you do -- you work out a deal in advance within the team. Say it just for argument like here's a San Francisco okay. You don't want to and into a division team you can afford it right let's say you work got to deal and events and alright here's what we'll -- We're going to franchised him."

Play from 1:43:32[1:43:32]" And we're going to hold him review. In return. You know you're gonna give us the that the draft pick again you if you could work out a deal like that in advance with a team. Okay great but keep in mind now that -- you have to be ready were you don't. The curve ball."

Play from 1:43:50[1:43:50]" I mean I don't know you know how you hold somebody beat the fire where if you franchise guy and all of a sudden the other team back out of it is that I that they want to. You know keep their -- first round pick in the decided well we can't give away this year and next year."

Play from 1:44:03[1:44:03]" Here's the -- if you look. At the upcoming draft if you can figure out if eighteen somewhere. Has 21 round -- And have a team has first Olympics do they had they needed. -- starting quarterbacks."

Play from 1:44:21[1:44:21]" If you can find a team like that while the knobs with that is there's an easy target for right that's an easy team to he wanted to go after. I think John -- served pretty good print or I don't know if in reality it works out that's simply. But you're actually right if you could find a way to work a deal with the team. Then by all means it you know. Here's what I think will happen if UC the Patriots put the franchise tag on Matt Cassel yelled they've worked out at deal or somebody. In advance. -- thank."

Play from 1:44:57[1:44:57]" Hey John how much could the current economic climate -- lacking here beaten Ike which thinks by the way.
