Play from 0:00[0:00]" Zealots guns no tap -- another golf -- want to go odd why it. But they've won mirror excuse Patriots playbook cut back on combat on that -- on here truthfully when. Breaking down last Sunday game -- Superman coverage. And these Gatorade really great. Right -- the rest of the 2008. NFL yeah. And some of the points stuff in between now he has done well. On Patriots playbook and seems like we've been away for -- month. Usually within a week but we welcome you back inside playbook it is Tuesday here Patriots dot com radio my name is John brook and."

Play from 0:50[0:50]" While. I don't even know where to begin about on Sunday and in fact I am going to I think tend to probably just kind of slide away. From under a little bit although as many if you were familiar with the program realized that it normally on Tuesday we nitpick Tuesday. And they'll be plenty of time did to picnic on on. Mean on Sundays game and goodness gracious that the goal -- with an ethnic. In of itself. But we got to do a little I've got to come out of the closet on the some sort of speak thumb. I had a college basketball broadcast. All in Sunday right at the same time as the Patriots. So I only caught bits and piece. I did not probably seen the detail of the game as much as you did -- Without dwelling on the negatives we can hit the high points surely I think versed enough in what happened. To go with that -- you here today. But honestly I mean what is their -- to dwell on. When you lose the way you lost on Sunday. Specially when you come off of the back to back off -- performance that Mac as head. And then you kind of get -- Baghdad into reality. When you faced the number one -- in the NFL. I have to admit. I don't think anybody I think the the final score of the game I think not what Steelers won. But just in the form and fashion that the Steelers -- came as the biggest shock. To me probably to you to -- just about everybody. This was a close game. It was a tight game right up until the third quarter of course in the Patriots turned the ball over five consecutive. I don't even think that -- qualifies as a nit pick your kids on the -- with the that's just. That's just a while all. I I I don't really have. I mean can we we get to his over the nitty gritty here probably. Probably. And I'm undoubtedly we will. But I'm I'm ready that kind of sort of you know. Sort of come out with you today in terms of com and getting closer to the realization that I don't think this Patriots team. Is a playoff. I know we talked about that we lasted the show a couple of weeks ago by the oil everybody had a great Thanksgiving. -- ours was hectic but managed to take the family would mean on the -- the trip out to Anaheim for college basketball tournament. Last week and that which I was covering. But you know only time we try to bring the family unification. Especially when it's a working vacation. In -- not budget debate agent trust me up now. But nevertheless was too good handled with the analyst and I trust that you when you're -- and and happy holiday. On how do we get back to the workweek in that we are the 2 December and and -- two straight games that you're facing. On the road again. Analysts coast again. In all the event and has been drawn. This team has no more room for error. And I noticed this couple weeks ago and I'm going to repeat it now. I do believe that the Patriot. -- sort of illegal that Matt Cassel has it for the most part had such an unbelievable season. Better than anybody has a right to really have expected of him in in any big picture. I don't know that this play -- Com I thought that an -- Which is -- and X eleven of five all in week one. Back in week one that this -- capable and it's excellent in five and that either either of the figures probably get them in the play. Well. Didn't really realize that you get a cut above the teams in this division. While that would prove themselves evidently capable I was talking about the Jets and Dolphins both -- even though was the bills that at the early pace in the on anybody realized that this division would improve from top to bottom or from -- atop the -- is. As much as it did. The Patriots obviously lost a golden opportunity on Sunday. The Jets getting beat by Denver. -- are you it's easy to do a lot of what if thing. And I've done my own share. I do believe that the players can win the final four games. I do believe that's box. I don't think it comes as a shock -- surprise to anyone that I then I'll tell you hear that they need to win all four. Because if they go to and six they will not reach the playoffs they need to be eleven and five to have a shot otherwise. Will be watching and and maybe. Maybe there is they -- the contingent now maybe there's a faction of fans now. Maybe you're one of that looks at the team and his Steelers play elsewhere. That's what I want to ask you today. Web radio Patriots dot com is email address. Web radio act Patriots dot com just this is always and 585437482. Telephone number. Is this -- teams to play over the I -- an honest answers here. You've seen him as well as I have. You watched him you list until you read about him you've talked about them. As they presently can -- evidence spot. There on the outside looking in. They're behind both Baltimore and Indianapolis and obviously the behind Indianapolis dollars it -- because -- head to head. The really in effect two games and the Colts. Is this New England Patriot team right now. Playoff. Worthy. My answer would be no. Obviously they're on the outside looking in right now of the playoffs -- start today and -- they would ambient. They have an opportunity to get and yes do I think still get an old and that's another story. That's another story. Every week these last orally and in you'll hear this probably from the guys in the locker room this from the coaches you'll hear this from -- Com. That it's one game at a time they always do. But I think they'll realize that there -- urge you hear about every game they've got -- eye toward. You know the future. And yes -- sure will be scoreboard watching. With the Jets. Maybe even with the Dolphins still and certainly. With the Colts. And the Ravens. They're a game back of those with four to play. It may actually be easy to win the division and get in that way that it would be to win the wild card. At this stage of the game is it possible that that is -- realistic scenario. You have to hope that at some point you know you'd jump Jets and maybe have to be one game ahead of him because of the Independent -- You know you're talking about divisional record coming out of play conference records gonna play and the Patriots lost his -- conference. So. If I mean. We'll start to nitpick I think of this probably over the course of the next few weeks. But you know the loss in the a loss against the Chargers. You lost in the Dolphins. It lost to the Colts lost the Jets he lost the Steelers beat a five may have lost you know going to win any tiebreaker where that's concerned are you. You're not don't feel too confident about it when it comes breaking ties there. So if they play perfect football the rest of the way can they get in yet. Will they get in that the big question mark today. And that's why am asking you do you think this is a playoff caliber team now. Web radio Patriots -- That's what I want and answer -- today. I'll so obviously it will get in the nit pick. For Sundays game. Com I'll hold on -- it is a little while we have been you know. Maybe you you talk about later on so do what you -- couldn't come up with you want to obviously -- the next game that you can. Kittens achieved what they do that horror you know that was terrible that was horrible calm you know here's a little nitpick things that bothered me for while about -- whatever maybe. Pick one aspect. Of the you know of the game on Sunday the Pittsburgh pick one aspect that have a quiet Dixon crawl. That's -- it that's a big. Pick one you got several choose from. Fire and see where we. Danny O'Neill who covered the of walk off with -- he is want to join us here in approximately fifteen minute and then we'll have a bright glow from. Patriot today in the second our roster on second -- Agile and Dean Pees Patriots off the quarters conference call. On that he had earlier today as well. Com we haven't really done a lot of that this year and part of that is because you certainly have access to it. But we've tried at least in this program focused a little bit more on the opposition coming in. And I think that the program should mean you know PFW in progress show there's a great job of talking about the Patriots and team personnel. And while we pick up on that here which expand upon that but giving your own thoughts or opinions based on observations year. -- the office and the -- bowl. But I mean you know the office that he -- under the gun so we thought because that he has been. Com. What looks good with with. Maligned. Hammered. I don't want to what are we we want to describe the Patriots defense. Hockey's hockey's sake that would be 12 maybe. Com. Anyway what was it would be appropriate year because this is not all Dean Pees ball okay. I'm not by any money stretched mightily in this on the no not doing. Players have to play coach try to put players in positions that they are in order to make plays and the players they'll have to make plays. All -- is the whole you know well you can't fire one you know he's one coat and you know. -- starters or whatever maybe I'm borrowing a baseball and there but. Fact is that you know all the he may still be held responsible but. He'll be a little bit different but even -- and especially Eugenia at a guy like dom capers was ready willing and able to. We all lulled into a false sense of security. Thinking that you know that chemistry just might automatically be -- because -- capers old. Oh well we expected around the NFL. It just hasn't happened this team does not potentially has not -- that. Like with Hollywood now yes I know they've had significant injuries. Again not using as an excuse. It is a fact. Other guys have to come up and play and step in. But the second there was already a source Bachman and linebackers we know starting to get a little longer in the tooth now that the not capable. But yeah -- half a step or two gone there. And the defensive line well yet I'd been banged up the last couple of Taiwan has been an. Active the last two -- minimal apply. And he could make an argument that he was the most effective down -- Patriots -- early part of the season. I mean I remember after week three if we're talking about him being a potential pro bowler. Pro bowler it was planet that kind of a level and he is not open either of the last two weeks. You know Vince Wilfork. As that pretty good years I think they will realize -- would like a little bit more. Out of guy like Richard Seymour and I'm not putting this blame on any one person understand that as a unit. It has come up short. And I think -- program that we focus. All of the defense coordinator thinks about his unit. At this day. Because to me that's my biggest. All right I'll let the cat out of the bag not only has ever relate I'm not at April or give it to you now. My biggest nit pick overall is the I'm I'm looking at the deep in any big picture. I -- that they turn the ball over on five consecutive possessions and you miss. I mean I have to admit I'm right in the middle of my basketball broadcast. -- I'm right in the middle of my basketball broadcast on Sunday. And I've got to -- Okay some able to watch would basically is going on in the football game at the same time even like physically don't have a television monitor I'm always go first of all I didn't get that game and the Denver Jets game. In -- We're watching the Denver and Jets game on the monitors there on press row and arms at one or Mike got the Jets are going to get paid the gotta give me the opportunity right. They aren't that the game -- got to follow the Patriots while I'm in the middle of my basketball game. And I am you know ten at halftime and all the -- on the -- dropped touchdown pass you know before halftime and then the missed field goal like one. Isn't going to happen I knew it had gone. I knew would agree with our third quarter you know I know but I noted that -- I can't believe. -- you can drop something like that and in that there's another nit -- for you by the way Randy Moss. Bad -- games. Big opportunities. Today I mean I know what he's done and I know I'd much rather have in the not have them but you don't want. Yeah -- questioned -- Tom Brady with a quarterback -- drop that ball. Ask isn't the question receiving c'mon -- an honest answer. If Tom Brady with a -- what are you drop the ball. You know the weather is not an excuse just like injuries are not supposed to -- I'm sorry I don't buy it. I never half. Weather is a part of football. It was raining it was miserable it was called a -- And told me that you know he's still drawing out his four layers from and his game I get all of that by the like with the announced windows opened in. The boot windows open say okay good. -- because Dickerson and opened the windows and -- their. You gotta play elements elements are part of the game and the game is a part of elements they read and and no -- you know it. So injuries aren't allowed. Weather is not allowed at the same for both games. And I think in this particular -- I don't know for certain. But they in this instance it just snowball and the Patriots and couldn't stop themselves. Or Randy Moss is going to give a rats to then. You know why should die I'm -- I'm not and that's what everybody felt but I can see where that can happen. I could he with a concentration level would come down I could see where in -- in the locker room halftime -- and okay we just blew a golden opportunity. Well man. That's thinks we -- done that wish I had that. And you're dwelling on the negative more so than thinking about okay here's what we have to do to be successful in the second half. It's human nature kids we all do it we all do it and every walk of life each of us is involved. We all do it. Does make it any easier when your football Damon. You know an injured livelihood depends on wins and lost -- hopefully more wins -- losses. My nit pick has been with a decent and a general. It just failed to live up to any kind of expectation that I had or maybe you had all year. Injuries notwithstanding. Whether this past weekend notwithstanding. It has been -- Way too much. It is not been as effective as it should have been it needs a tremendous amount of work. I'm not old. On the fact that 34 I've never I've never been a huge fan of the 34. Bomb. I'm more so less affair and of the 314 and after watching this team perform the way they have the -- or linebackers there and none of them can stop the run. Jerod Mayo has been the one silver lining in an otherwise very very stormy cloud. You know all the of them the bluster that Richard Seymour you know has brought to the table over the course -- years of his career. I think even Richard has to realize this is a what have you done for us lately game. And -- what have you done for us lately sports. And if you hold him to that particular. You know measuring stick. Can you answer it can you answer that question how would you can't. I'd be willing almost to give a past event Wilfork in the middle because his job is to gap and -- job of you know. Runs stuff that his job is to allow you to make plays approachable linebackers. Can finish it off. I think Vince Wilfork based on what I've seen from my observation has done that. So unwilling you know unwilling to put Vince Wilfork in the Jerod Mayo category. Well being silver lining in an otherwise dark stormy cloud. But I'm not put anybody else in there. So you name a player on the these fans. They don't get a pass from. That's my biggest -- the -- of the entire. The entire realm all right so -- ego I given in nitpick the work on from your other kind. And dom is this Patriots team our question of the day is this Patriots. Playoff worthy. In your estimation right now. Web radio -- Patriots dot com I've only 5437482. Is that telephone number I was sneak a time out here and there were Denny O'Neil for the Seattle times. Play from 25:06[25:06]" Well -- he signed a contract to -- to head coach shorts once conference Epstein and he did that in February. Arm of last year where it's contractually. If indeed -- they've signed the deal without. A five year deal last year with four years the final four years of that contractor as the head coach. So he he will be taken over there's been a lot of speculation about -- to his potential which he didn't interest in coaching me. He -- at Washington needs to. He it is on the monitor on these -- previously expressed affection for the school. And that he had heard a radio interview when he was still. I've coached Atlanta Falcons would you describe that you don't chop this history -- and that's kind of this incident when you're in the midst of a winless season he had a lot of alumni to reach out. Force someone who feels that that this school is the specialists they feel it is in jeans kind of become this prodigal son in that way. But on he is signed on he does have a contract to be the next Seahawks coach. There hasn't been any indication that that that there's any alternatives on the other than that is being exported about champ or by the Seahawks."

Play from 26:12[26:12]" Widely known about him. Stepping in replaced Holmgren."

Play from 26:15[26:15]" Yeah yet. Day it was it was yet they had a press conference to calm and it takes to get what they are they went through. It was it was right about the same time that Jim Caldwell. Was what specified as the successor to Tony Dungy once dungy. Step in the moves on the difference was -- Dungy daisy is is when he -- is still uncertain where -- with Holmgren Holmgren -- already announced that. 2008. Would be his final season."

Play from 26:44[26:44]" Okay let let the other amateur remember I guess maybe it is because many of the things are going on around here that. I didn't realize that Jim Mora had already been announced that the potential hazard there so now let me ask you this if that is to be the case. Is your experience and he thinks twice about that to go to -- moderates don't."

Play from 27:00[27:00]" No I don't think so -- I mean there's there's always that chance -- you deal with something as emotional as Tom. Coaching job and things like your alma mater there's always a chance that something to change it when it wouldn't anyway policy didn't coaching before that wouldn't wouldn't when. You can never say anything for the for absolute certain for the most part and there's always change. But I ain't what I -- is very much expectation to be dead dead sea Hawks coach to bet that decision's been made. It is -- on like. I think it from all indications have gotten from from people around him that its its it's a bit of an uncomfortable situation because he doesn't want to do anything. Com that would -- to. These little these. University make it seem like he doesn't keep -- did concede that he -- a lot of affection for that this is he's he's made this statement that he's not a candidate in. And that there's nothing which changed in regards to calm. And communicate these things we've we've we've seen crazier things happened on I mean just last year Nick Saban. Stood in front cameras and said he was not care if it was two years ago was not going to be that. Alabama coach and a couple of weeks later he was so things can change quickly but I don't expect them to escape."

Play from 28:12[28:12]" as we all know money talks that you know what walk rate. That. -- Iowa and it's good to -- I was quite aware of that and let up to date on that now. I wondered though how in you know in effect this might. Are there I guess the overall -- there would be you have to start building at some point in time. For next year and I'm assuming that building process began a few weeks ago. But can it really move forward in your estimation and with Seattle with a team. That you've still got Mike Holmgren trying to win games this year."

Play from 28:45[28:45]" Yeah I think it's that that's going to become a conversation. -- Recently all bad guy he handled it yeah ground paddy yeah. How do you look how do you go about these star guard with the youth movement and it -- that when you look at the roster. For the most part they don't have any young players that are not playing -- Com they've got date they stay put a lot of guys in situations some of your injury on the had a second year player started tender last week. I'm ever fortunate tackle who's who's playing in regards to date they've wanted to see him at -- some Big East he's now playing in place my -- at left guard you -- you don't you don't have any young prospects on -- not at second round pick hasn't gotten a lot of reps. On the -- of those those guys still treasurer -- Lawrence Jackson was the team's first round pick. He's -- starter John Carlson in the team's second round pick. He's -- starter is actually in the team in receptions as a tight end. So I don't know there's a lot of tinkering left to do. This season I think that they have to make some decisions in the off season some of which might be top. But they've they've they don't have any. They don't have any hidden sorted chances that there are unsure about or need to get some seasoning. And XL. I think do you think we'll see some guys who were injured on people won't come back -- like Mike Qualls might go on injured reserve this week Chris Spencer at historic center Michael on injured reserve this week. So we're making those changes but I don't think we're going to see wholesale. Sort of sort of sort of change of the last eighteen think that there tennis until the one tangible change. It dead Holmgren came to that is -- nineteen more TJ Duckett. On at tailback he's he's been pretty much they're they're short yardage runner. The one game in which he did get more carries he did very well but that was against St. Louis so I think I think down the stretch that can be something he's he's a little -- decadent state. They've looked at. How the running running attack will shape up for next."

Play from 30:43[30:43]" I was just going to ask about -- or what is his. If he goes and I are what does that bring the total -- for Seattle this year."

Play from 30:48[30:48]" I'll cash and you know why should I should -- that -- to -- and it's on a lot of these calls. -- I think it big cat. What would really what really saw their season calm and BK credit. -- they had a rash of injuries at wide receiver -- into the year. Knowing that Deion Branch you guys are very familiar when when he's coming back from a are pretty extensive knee surgery he underwent in February so it was going to be pushing it to get him back for the start of the season and it really they expected him. Speed access fourteen which was. But while block you know without -- lost starting. They're starting split end Nate Burleson suffered a season ending knee injury in the third quarter. The first game. He had Bobby Ingram suffered a broken bone initial surgery training camp that he missed the first three games. On yet spoken Pena who was an attractive creation that they were really high on in during the season. He suffered a season ending knee injury on the first quarter the second game. At one point you have. Six of the seven receivers that they expected to be atop their depth chart when the season started. It's exodus Avant that were unable to play at the cutting injury and it won't work what happened was it really just deep rail. Michael -- offense is built on timing. It's built on the wide receivers making reads and knowing what to make their breaks to recognize coverage -- react to like it -- it really depends on experienced. Michael ware and Ellis said the need for years in the system completely understand as a wide receiver. And without that continuity it did their off it's just really had a hard time and the quarterback started getting can't. And he started it and that hasn't actually been banged up since the fourth game on and and you really had this this this result that. It's it's it's been. It's been really tough right right now. There would be distribute Spencer will go on injured reserve. Doesn't need -- six players who starters at the beginning of the season as you projected starter on the two deep. On dead dead aren't now on injured reserve done for the season -- that that that's a lot for a team to overcome."

Play from 32:51[32:51]" And absolutely is and I think the Patriots know that all -- it sounds to me that your situation in a lot of ways is similar here. Except maybe -- ball got rolling a little bit more quickly."

Play from 33:01[33:01]" Yeah I think so in any other thing is that I mean the Patriots deserve a lot of credit for this and I think again it currently. Their ability to withstand injuries overt in you do during. Kind of over the past seven years is just it's incredible. And then this year you have. I mean gosh he's -- Tom -- a player like I I think if you ask people who's the best player in the NFL. Are up but Tom Brady -- that -- and they've been able to remain competitive. Without him it's just it it it really is incredible it's. I think it's a tribute to the franchise. That I think actually the test and different types of not just. Not just the ability to accumulate you know talent but to have the machinery in place to make replacement parts -- in the salary -- very that's what you have to do. And there's been nobody that's important -- definitely."

Play from 33:49[33:49]" Danny O'Neill and covering the Seahawks go on to an appearance on the play book then you mentioned -- Deion Branch and alleys of back with the team after having the -- start of the year. How would you characterize it is he's in this for."

Play from 34:01[34:01]" It's been a disappointment. And it actually have been most and I would I would say it's pretty fair to say that. That kind of covers covers his career here on there's still there's there's a fair amount of sort of and I think there's no base there's there's a light he's -- spot for -- fans really -- he's he's played four games this season he came back from the knee injury. In any hurting Shaquille in the in the first half of its first came back. And now at this point he missed eight games this year he's played in four games he's caught thirteen passes -- and caught a touchdown. I mean in in ten seasons the previous two seasons and cup 49 passes last season but he also missed five games because of -- A foot injury that he suffered against Pittsburgh and ended the year before that -- just three passes that would be here he was traded. I'd and that and I I think given that. Seattle gave up -- first round pick upper hand in hand in hand not only that but it's signing him to the contract if he would he wanted. That there's there's been a certain amount of feel Independent and it's Seattle got snookered them."

Play from 35:06[35:06]" You know I know that there are a lot of people here that this really wished him well there're a lot of people that also thought the Deion Branch would have been better off staying in the Patriots system we will undermine of that argument."

Play from 35:15[35:15]" Sure I mean you look at the numbers that he was putting up there and sort of big game performances he had time needs. Those two Super Bowls he played where are among the all time greats typical performances and -- certainly can't look at at at and what's happened here. And instinct that. I mean maybe maybe it would have made the media would have been better for him as well I do not make the change. Teammates really like what really like Deion and I know that that was true in New England -- that's true here they'd they'd really do. He's hard worker he's worked diligently throughout his rehab and if it's unfortunate when -- it's bit by injuries and commanded that is what is happened to hear."

Play from 35:51[35:51]" Thumb at two intent. You know obviously at this season is done and what Mike Holmgren data such as it is we touched on this just a couple of minutes ago but. Where is the distraction and is the distraction if there is one. Is -- distraction enough for to keep this team from actually. Beginning the rebuilding process of his next year."

Play from 36:16[36:16]" No I I you know I don't think I think it -- It is -- an uncommon you have an odd situation. Where you have you have. Head coach. Who is as announced it is finally here it usually happens lame -- really -- yet but you know the one thing I hesitate to do. It is to call him that he is. The forsake his personality and what he's done here for the franchise in the bridge as it was pretty perpetually mediocre the only stats that sort of place at their current event. -- 799. And seven sea Hawks don't like to play out. In any really came in here and easy put together as they took some time but to put together. One of the best off consistently didn't he has had such a force of personality. That the that I don't believe I don't believe. If someone who's in the locker room. And it goes around players I don't believe you have any guys that are are looking for an easy way out so I don't I don't states it's. I don't think it's -- coaching distractions and the problem. I think there has been sort of a convergence of factors wear your -- An offense that for the past four or five years has really carried the load this franchise that was not in the position to do that. Some of that because injuries and some of that because of just the attrition. Those players Holmgren Holmgren and -- options is at a piece by piece. I wrote it and didn't get too aware that's always been district this team. In this year at the end of the arc and scored points early on in. Exposed the defense that. In the -- people overestimated how good it was going to be. And B I think it's a smaller decent that you really going to play at its best -- it's a defense that's built. Two playoff an offense like Seattle at three years ago when they were one of the best. And when they were put in a position where they're playing from behind and opponents are right in the ball emigrated to count that they have kind of winter and it. And and I think that the game on Thanksgiving means the Cowboys. Really showed it you know Dick they're a little bit bit in the Seahawks need some more size to find ways to. To -- more size and and the need to look at the play that linebackers that was seen as to strength of this defense with pro bowlers Julian Peterson. Look it's 22 Leroy Hill is going to be free agent this offseason was really they're really expected big things from in this season. In that group that group has not distinguished itself this year -- and when you have a situation like that. If people that you're. You'd EU leaders to come through the with the best seasons have a successful year and that just doesn't happen with Seattle."

Play from 38:59[38:59]" Yeah -- there's going to go number one. The game with Dallas and Thanksgiving 3049. You know it's certainly I think in -- while that disappointment. Well overall the type that you lost the game number two how to -- preparing for the Patriots game is the original extra time to prepare will that matter in your estimation."

Play from 39:17[39:17]" No they they do you think it would it would they did they gave the players calm pretty much difficulties came in on Friday worked on some some game plan it's an evaluation but the players had a weekend off. Com seed they had their normal Monday schedule on he didn't have a full practice yesterday. They're off today in the in the begin the game planning so I don't I don't think it was a situation. There could be healthier mom and I think that'll be the biggest the biggest difference specifically hassle back. Who he was sacked seven times it was the most sacks Seattle the last since 2000 want. So he's getting it'll election time to heal up but I don't think in terms of strategizing and it's going to make that much difference."

Play from 39:54[39:54]" The other thing I was going to ask -- in regards to the decent and at that you -- a great point about the linebackers because. Remember I think before the -- that's pretty good group of backers and a pretty good defense seem like it was going to be very competitive. Who has stood out as anybody could out at all on that the ball."

Play from 40:10[40:10]" Yeah Marcus Trufant played very well they can't really see -- see it as a quarterback. It's always -- as people tend to folk but it. Just in the -- the other side right on base stay away from him it would be much more content to pick on clay to Josh Wilson is the second -- quarter. Or Kelly Jennings is a third quarter began here's the -- that's been -- but true Favre has played very well he's speaking spent their best coverage cracked. And kinda -- up and down that he's he's he's been aware of its distinguished themselves they have a defensive tackle -- meetings is in his second year. Who is he's a good space heater inside. Easy he does and he plays hard he works very hard I think he's someone that they see as is outplayed it's going to be a force going forward. -- anatomy they don't have anybody they they don't have a single player with more than five sacks this season they don't have a single player that more than two interceptions. So I really think that those two are sort of if you look at the bright spots on the defense that's about the extent of."

Play from 41:10[41:10]" Might we see I mean the Patriots obviously have their own problems hang on the football this last week though with the or would you be at all surprised -- reform match up against Randy Moss."

Play from 41:20[41:20]" You know I would -- any did they did that was where it Carol and you have to -- in. And so I I do think that we will see that because. Josh Wilson is a smaller corner and made. Nobody matches up with pregame radio one of the most gifted athletes in in in the leaked but I think -- more shot with triple on as opposed to on. Two -- in Josh Wilson."

Play from 41:44[41:44]" Or reason to be. Would you and coach Herm. Danny how would you turn the future for. A that it -- an immediate and for the next week for the remainder of the season and the that the the engines that will follow under new leadership."

Play from 42:00[42:00]" Well I think that's I mean that's that's going to be the big question is Tom I hated this is. I I see this as sort of a crossroads -- the -- act had a great run of success. A lot of that was an offense that Mike Holmgren put together and now you have -- it's sort of the completion of the changing of the guard that you had a new president -- came here in 2005. With two Roscoe. He had his first coach that he tired in place now what Jim Mora. I think just he changed to a more run oriented offense in the future and it will look back concede it since that this was the transition year. We can't discern some of that some of that the personnel changes calm. -- in anticipation of the new coach. What were what made. Mom or or you look back it it is eight addicted there's a lot of people that are very pessimistic about the future to defense. Due to future of the franchises specifically to keep it going forward. Purposes this is the defense should have been pretty good given the number free agent acquisitions they've made in recent years that in the number draft picks to debuts on the outside the ball. And -- that it the president he's known for having. A great day he was what -- architects of the -- they keep -- on the Dewitt what was Warren Sapp and Ronde Barber and really care books that really put that group together Super Bowl caliber deep sense that they did win a Super Bowl. Com and there's a feeling that that there may Benson miscalculations here and it's it's going to take a couple of years to recover so. I think there's a big question I don't think anybody pulled that hope that that anything is going to get turned around this season. And actually there's a fair number and I think that are rooting for the highest draft pick possible. But -- go forward there are some people that are that are very worried that that this is not an aberration in this. That this sort dispels that there's there's going to be some tough times that."

Play from 43:49[43:49]" Great so I acted ask you one more -- a com do you feel like. The the frustration factor has sort of may be overtaken everything else here or guys still able to realize you don't go about their business week -- week and and in no because of the injuries because of you know that the eventual changeover in leadership Albert. Maybe better days are -- how the players handling the frustration."

Play from 44:12[44:12]" You don't I think there handle it pretty well I think that they have a very professional locker room. That you haven't had any finger pointing. I -- that that they game against Dallas on Thanksgiving was pretty telling the 'cause. They played hard they they got they don't they were down big early. I mean did Dallas really just did what they wanted those 24 points the first four. Four possessions state. They've they've really just if there was there was very little opposition and I thought the defense played better in in in the second half and it every you're going to see eighteen sort of roll over it was bad situation in that side of achievement Alice is trying to get that balance. I think they've been very professional about. I I think that there is an understanding dead it's several what is happened is beyond their control in terms of the injuries and and did there's not that there hasn't been and it's not certainly not fun and jovial. But that there's been an enthusiasm. That that that team as platelets and I. I haven't seen many games have felt that they really came out just just in just just take it I think it is it is a professional replica."

Play from 45:20[45:20]" I know that last week of this game was pulled off of NBC's. Sunday night schedule and it will be one of the regular regional games which will get to -- at 4 o'clock our time. Did that surprise you at all when you heard that."

Play from 45:32[45:32]" You know and actually Hasselbeck had a really funny joke about it confuses Saints. It's committed several not this next week and kind of looked at him because that's not their."

Any really he really worked hard to come back because he. He feels that that's sort of what it team's leader state you don't you earn respect to -- play -- stats that's sort of how it works. And I I think people for the most part. The only concern I have about -- is if you physically going to be right again next year did that eighty any sort of downturn this season is due entirely to. Physical status physical status in the stating the -- switch from the day he met Matt Matt has a lot of credibility in this area than there has not been a lot of criticism of him."

Play from 47:08[47:08]" actually kind of have been here you it and that is as president -- development. At all. Well you got one right there if you get him healthy -- perhaps things will change much what do you actually think he'll play as even talked about it."

Play from 47:20[47:20]" Yet he said that he said that he's playing he's helped me not to play and at any point did make decisions. About that it won't be his decision and that's something else and you could see situation later in the year after a couple more games com if they would look at they have played somebody else depending on if he gets hit a few more times. But that it is right now."

Play from 47:41[47:41]" He's -- he's he's."

Like they are like Patriots are are they have a team down on -- in the -- physically bully did for the most part by the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. They have a team that is a that is it hasn't coached all of that is in effect a lame duck even though nobody really what's called -- the try to pay him to respect because of or he's brought the franchise. Play from 56:04[56:04]" Yeah I would -- so I would say it was it was as bad off 31 minutes of football you can get starting the final minute. Of the second half of the first one. You know you have first goal -- ninth. And it was you know incompletion. -- drop past -- and -- much we're going to touch up ordering complete passes. Intended for Moss one of which. They'll probably should've been intercepted by Ike Taylor. And then missed chip shot field goal that you know wasn't in doubt he'd gotten sensational year and not. And one. You don't want 21 missed seven yarder. In the lane giving it chances that he's gotten great year but that the the field goal that you should be able to make still getting no points out of that and then eighteen to thirty minutes. And that that was just as bad as bad -- football as you ever see. This team sports or private team coached by Bill Belichick apply."

Play from 56:57[56:57]" Yeah I think that was what was most disappointing to me in in the fact it just you know if he would be a total complete letdown and I know the players at least seemed to. In the locker room afterward perhaps you can beat this Bryant they seem to have that to all kind of take their own personal share of the blame in this so it was good I guess that wasn't a lot of finger point."

Play from 57:15[57:15]" Yeah I mean this team you don't you don't get after a lot. -- certainly -- fewer players who you'll end up by making himself available in your for whatever reason but you've got a core group of guys. Who what may -- addressed a lot after -- there's -- sugar -- there's no excuse making their go well the weather well we have injuries there it. Absolutely not that. Some guys are pretty explicit in the air you know I had to blame grandma -- in this particular -- Matthew Slater. After the game he was despondent and said hey I caught. It felt he caught between it and now other guys would -- spots. St. is that sentence -- know once the simply caught that the game but it. They're willing to ya take the blame outwards Duke there's not a single player like spoke to after that game -- who. I can remember speak to after that -- and that really you know pointed fingers or or or or should deployed some. Simply don't speak -- all but once we get basic it was a that was about that performance we have to play better -- and usually what they -- to that is we will play better that. And that's and the mentality did used to avoid really happened back to back losses. They've done it once in six years."

Play from 58:26[58:26]" Is affected this team is going to have a lot of the west coast again and will play too intense Seattle team is that a good thing or bad thing right now."

Play from 58:33[58:33]" I'd I'd -- I'm Mike Holmgren Seahawks -- Award for number reasons I just think that you know this team. There's something about it's hard to put. Here in specify exactly what it is equal losses target date they take it personal and it bounced back I mean they'd do it. You know -- did what was it after the San Diego and the in the Denver market like it when they absolutely destroy. I don't them -- that was immediately after the continued in the destroyed Denver and a yeah that's what they do a lot yeah. You know is just -- such -- have a terrible offensive line. You know they've just absolutely got destroyed by an influence. I don't see that at all I don't get -- struggle. I could potentially see the -- we didn't struggle. For a few reasons like you know I don't think Oakland's -- good arm who bought I -- I do kind of think that the way the Patriots performed against San Diego. -- didn't quite something to do with. It'll -- a little world we're not going to pointed -- that emanated a they certainly weren't even in the game at all but I would say that there could be a bit of a struggle against Oakland on number intangible reasons but opposite yeah that's the scheduled for cap down the stretch and that virtually a must win territory now really couldn't do it much better than three out of four on the world."

Play from 59:49[59:49]" There's going to ask because I talk about the drop the top of the show. There's no question in my mind this team has to win out in order reach the playoffs do you feel like that's the case."

Play from 59:58[59:58]" I have no idea why I I think. I don't put the -- the other teams that are in the next quarter projects. In terms of the division or. The Colts and Ravens in terms of a wild card not the teams play each other restricted to get Miami into the mix were out on the next might equate with Jeff Burton Matt. It's possible it's possible for all of these teams -- goal for namely if the Patriots would be on the outside looking incident need help. I think the -- It will really at the staples here that's the so we'll get people more at the top step -- this sort of Dallas Pittsburgh. And they Washington after the quote that Jack and also at Jacksonville but what including last night. That should be a top one but still Baltimore -- team that has been I mean this -- you know that Baltimore went out to a surprising positively surprising teams in the league this year. -- it's a real world Washington Pittsburgh Dallas and they've got a rookie quarterback they've got young offense and you know I would look at Baltimore as the team if the Patriots do need help in the playoffs -- the Baltimore as a team that could potentially give them that helped. -- particular it would became an illegal three and one that would stretch here they would need Baltimore to do no better through until in ordered it. Even without that you -- tiebreaker it really interest really do -- If they want to get in the playoffs. And if they don't -- who won it or -- it -- The Patriots are able to lose against the in the playoffs it really can not be one of the AFC. -- right that's the Oakland or -- because they're conference record as it is is not --"

Play from 1:01:34[1:01:34]" I had a that's actually correct I and I mention that all the top but thought that you know that. The only way the Patriot to be able to sneak in and I thought that -- I think personally a loss especially the AFC loss. We'll do them and because the tiebreaker is not going to come for the division crown that tiebreaker is going to come for the you know wild card most likely come and play and right now they've got five if you lost they're not going to beat anybody with a kind of over record."

Play from 1:01:57[1:01:57]" No is it becomes -- that you know and also you know -- if they are still play for the division which technically that -- been that we need to have. More wins this month and the Jets -- depth at division title but. -- total to an individual it's about Bob or win that awful game got into the -- would be huge if they're still in the mix for the division entering week. But with a 55 conference record is that -- that. Ever come into a tiebreaking scenario with either or he wouldn't because they got back we lose would indeed because they'll watch that as a -- Beckham in the play with Baltimore on Baltimore's stock upped its record about it in the seventh Wimbledon they. They have a much much higher -- Percent of the -- on you know. Yes the Patriots are able. Going to the playoffs while losing it and stretch it would have to be. The Seattle Arizona and then sell -- I would say on paper patient when -- it mean without an impressive year but. You -- you'll like it really at a terrible time coming east. And you'd have to figure if you're so inclement weather that that played with interest that brought."

Play from 1:03:02[1:03:02]" Yeah you would think I guess at the very least what we don't have to worry about it -- we have to rest her starters for the play out."

Play from 1:03:08[1:03:08]" Well -- but that's not ignore -- about that at all. I think -- he might be the only you know make that decision but up that spot as as interest and it last year was where. You know you're wondering which record in the broke out which week about it in the history. This one elbow -- this upcoming month is shaping up. Oh -- intriguing elements in it and I think all you can ask for is that the Patriots are still alive in the last -- see that you know why is it going to be an interest and mark. It's going to be sort of caught. Two walks in different scenarios play out before we. You know do some scoreboard watching I mean I looked at the Patriots players and and Bill Belichick would never want to. Say it look at the scoreboard all that but as a single. In the respect I think it interest what it's -- different four weeks here last year. And you know what we do you know we don't really see what the team is made up down the stretch is that you know and they're really they're accurate example."

Play from 1:04:01[1:04:01]" There's no doubt in my mind that they'll be scoreboard watching they they were they they wouldn't be human. And I wouldn't be competitors if you didn't start the -- like you know -- a little bit as to how the Jets are doing or how the Dolphins are doing or maybe even more vividly now. How the Colts in the Ravens are doing."

Play from 1:04:17[1:04:17]" You can just -- that they're not little we scoreboard watching what it's you know certain spot in the air you know the play clock wind down you don't want -- literally Kiki get the scoreboard that's. But a little better you know figured -- scoreboard watching the."

Play from 1:04:29[1:04:29]" Yeah no doubt about it com. Are you one of the west coast. What are your thoughts what are your thoughts about making the trip for the second time and you feel like even in the locker -- your sentiment."

Play from 1:04:41[1:04:41]" You know you know it's -- You know I think the players are I think I feel like everything whites. You know about it -- record from you know from a logistics standpoint I think most of the players work pretty satisfied I think -- you know the the the practice field that played on. You know that meetings stage and in their you know. Didn't know part of the team travel group -- hotel with them not -- they're in meetings and all that but. You know it's like it was a pretty good setup and and it was pretty easy to wise you know wanted to get a label land if you will right from the get go and I think. It's kind of natural when rot on the road for ten days but actual world we are and as I'm sure the players did -- as an that the -- It's a little bit but. It's like all the all the logistics accommodations out all the politically all the things that are out of the players -- control. I feel like went pretty well and since -- you know it should be the same routine as five. Other then you know they're they're spending the full week. In the location of the principles that vocational the first and last time it was Bay Area and San Diego this time it's Seattle then they don't. I would say that most the players they got their druthers. It's you know you keep your routine which is for a game you leave on the big portrait yeah did before game and you go right back but I do feel like for the most part. The trade off being away for a week verses two consecutive. You know that -- two consecutive round -- flights. -- the trade off -- extra. And I know what we'll -- what happened -- about their Detroit's philosophy and you don't like I mentioned earlier. You have to think media a portion of the way that they played that game as something to -- with being on the road but outlawed but you know I don't I don't think it was it was the name after the."

We are going to hear the thoughts from Dean Pees coming up just a few minutes here just because wanted to you have. That sort of perspective. I'm that we haven't been a lot of time doing inside the playbook this year. But there are the conference calls that are available here on the web -- that you can hear. Sort of well encumbered. With the questions and everything included. And we're going to include in the body of the show here because. -- to be my chief nit pick which is with the deep -- the -- and I know a couple of email -- Ortiz and they what are your thoughts on Dean Pees return for next year and quite frankly. I'm not going to a green. Your guess is as good as mine right now I mean they really largely depends. On how this team finishes the year. If they win four straight games your finish eleven and five squeezed into the playoffs. I don't think there's any reason to think that his job as -- early in jeopardy. But this team falls flat doesn't reach the playoffs and gives up 35400. Yard game of the process while shore. I think everybody's going to be held accountable and it goes from Dean Pees you know to Josh mcdaniels everybody will be held accountable. You have to be it's not just one person's fault if you wanted it from a team -- perspective which is what I think this team is trying to do. But yes the onus is on the -- in the I think the defense is largely under achieved. Again based on my own and criticisms in my own standards. That I thought this -- was capable of performing too and I don't believe they have now. It's of that means that the coordinators going to be held responsible then -- be. With these last four games play because the Patriot to win these last four and they get into the playoffs then the story improperly well. The story will be how the Patriots overcame all of this adversity. To win eleven games and reached the post season. That'll be the story. Torre won't be all how the -- under performed to the point where they could've won thirteen games on and that won't be the story. Let's let this play. -- Bomb a couple of emails from earlier today -- south Carolina's as if we look at the bright side where homer if we try to be real letting the team. I'll continue to pull for my -- they it is not in our own opinions truth be told -- they're not very likely would make. If we do great but there's no -- trying to figure out the future. With that in mind whose free agent can we get a regular here and someone dying in the two formerly with the ability. -- will will jump into the the secondary free agent -- granted let me let me assure you. That get a huge look at the off. 110%. Guaranteed. I think the Patriots. Will most likely be as is bigger in the free agent market in my own personal thought is that will be as vigorously active in the free agent market is they have ever. Then and yet it also includes potentially. Holding on the Mac -- I'm not of the opinion that you should just cut him and let him go and be done with a move you know Kevin O'Connell in his back -- quarterback. I think Matt Cassel has proven now and I had this couple weeks ago. Come back -- Brunell he is a marketable commodity. And you must. Keep your marketable commodities. Now you don't want to pay seven million whatever for a back -- quarterback at the will realize. But you do not let him go under any circumstance until number one year -- absolutely certain that Tom Brady's back. And ready to play on schedule. And my guess is that you won't have come to that realization. Until the process or create such -- moved long. -- the Patriots will probably have to whom you know. You know sleeper hit off the pot. My guess is they probably will -- And probably. -- in the -- well. I think they should franchise in and then and try to open -- before they do that work out a trade. I didn't think that two or three weeks ago guys are really didn't I've changed my mind on this. Over the course last -- you know week actually back to back 400 yard games you know hesitancy to do that. But I think the Patriots now can get something for him and I think they should I think it is in the franchise's and the football team's best interest. If they can't get something for him. There will be many teams. Looking for a quarterback just like they'll be many incorporated coach. Cassel may not be the only guy that goes maybe mcdaniels goes as well this next. Possible. To entirely -- Are you going to have to do what you can't get on the for nothing you don't want to let somebody go for zero in that means you gotta put the tag on him. When you put that. But else that you try to you know actively work at the and I think teams will know that the Patriots are trying to do that. But it teams are desperate for a quarterback that they'll be willing to deal with the Patriots -- won't. My two -- that will probably. Player up before too aren't as it comes from -- Pablo who write to us. Well from the federal university of real granted Brazil whose double was wonderful to hear from thank you very much today. His first -- greetings from Brazil Patriots they have since 2005. And listen to your shows and the beginning of the season congratulation for the -- thank you. I used to believe that the Patriots were playoff worthy. Especially because castles improvement not talking about the two consecutive 100 yard games but the whole season progression. However after Sunday I have to say that I do believe that anymore cot what third quarter was that you guys explain that. No. And palm. Based on what I've seen. An and I know whatever but -- live through round here. And undoubtedly what -- you'll you'll have to have them either watch in person or on television on there's very few explanations that sometimes. Things just noble like kind of brought that up with them. Any O'Neal from the -- times earlier sometimes you just -- snowball and the get out of control and he'd just don't know how to point of opened out of the match. And I think that can happen the Patriots on Sunday now there are some things that you can't control and I think a lot of list with concentration -- an -- lack thereof. College usually conspire to create turnovers number one. Whether number two a lack of concentration the individual who loses the ball who loses the possession. And when you have both things going against you Wheldon turnovers are bound to happen and I really think that's what happened on Sunday. Matthew Slater admitted as much you know he's -- blue. Game wouldn't lose the game was my -- may not be quite that -- them but at least he understood. He was his response bill anyone. Randy Moss you know he took ownership of the dropped touchdown. Given some credit at least you took ownership but now. I want to see him catch those who -- because how to drop passes Randy Moss had this year that you said yourself I should've caught that. About getting close to double -- now aren't we cute. I know I am in my book. There's double laurels as here and now we're behind the Ravens in the cold and we seem to be the wild card teams to be in the playoff. Maybe the Jets lose a couple of games we get back on track with eight. Well let me get back my Ph.D. studies before my adviser fires -- goodness we don't want -- congratulations on the effort for the Ph.D. And -- probably appreciate your taking the time to listen and contribute to the program greatly appreciated good to hear from it and don't be a stranger. And let's go gobble and -- real -- Okay Williams and this. Looking at the -- is look at the ugly weaker play the Colts the Jets yet the Patriots can get in. Then being there as the team implode against them. -- they meet the Titans in the divisional round. He's as your question was not if you'll lose the divisional that is true. Are they play off titanium yet he's the number of teams come into right good at and flaw they are flawed. I actually think that that's a pretty good explanation went home. You're very accurate when he's a playoff teams come a couple of different types. You know the teams that are oracle contenders of the teams that barely squeeze in or in your case if you put it good and flawed. The Patriots flawed. And I think the one thing that really and stands out to me about the potential for a play off tournament. In the NFL this year is that there are very few teams that I would call good we said this a few weeks ago. There was one team really. Before the halfway point anyway it was not one team that appeared to -- world beater. What's that appeared to be head and shoulders above the others not like the Patriots were a year ago. That there were. Maybe maybe the Titans and the Giants that kind of eking out ahead. And everybody -- there were probably another ten to twelve teams that in the next pack behind the Titans and the Giants in terms of the leaked. In the league this year. I'm not really ready to it to strayed from that particular analogy just yet. You ought to put the Titans and the Giants up with a top wouldn't. I do think build it you've seen some other teams emerge. Com you know Tampa has emerged a little bit the Dallas Cowboys look like they might be back on track Washington is still player. In the AFC. You know Pittsburgh. Based on what they did the Patriots on Sunday and have to say that the Steelers certainly looked like they also could be emerging. The Colts have run off you know what why wins in Rome council they are emerging. But I think Gillette put Tennessee in the New York Giants over the top of the list right. Oh if you put them as good and everybody else to a certain extent flawed. Doesn't that lead you to believe that the deal could potentially be wide open. This is the year -- flawed team by your logic -- and is -- it's good logic that it it was flawed logic good luck. This is the year more so than any other. That a team like last year's Giants could actually go in and win -- mean wildcard team. Win win the Super Bowl this year that could happen this is -- maybe they should. I gotta think. I think the Patriots all you have to hope you can do is make the tournament. Make the -- You know what you have to do to make the tournament. You're going to have to win -- and then even even sell if you win these last four year deal might need Elvis Bryant Los aptly pointed out. Although then the Jets still playing the Dolphins if you count the Dolphins till the next -- none of these teams that are going to the Patriots right now. Ravens Colts -- none of these teams play the Patriots. Here in the last four week during the play each other. Help has to come from somewhere it's conceivable eat those teams could go for -- And the Patriots go porno. And the Patriots still miss the play at bat is a possibility. May not be likely because the Ravens do have a very tough schedule like going on the stretcher but it is possible. You need help. And flawed teams need help there more luck than good so how that plays. Good game. Deck more from Miami where you Dagmar. What do you band. Is on I haven't had an email in week one because my school schedule well. Okay all right -- cooled it marked the you have school yet it. But I always was -- good -- on the real well thank you I appreciate that and by the way may I -- here. That if you're listening to the show on a podcast you downloaded to play at a later time you're not listening to live version you can still send an email. Please all you have to do you know the email address web radio and a Patriots dot com and it and just put in the subject line you know for playbook or for John for. You know. The other guy on after PFW. Because -- you guys keep all the -- right then you can keep almost. I have the message here for from -- from earlier who wrote boomer sooner. Just like I knew he would he would do diversion though. I know it's better to be lucky than good wish I had your look now I wish I hit your. Which lucky. You very easily as he owns -- naming rights to -- the -- he has dot com. Does he want a little long -- I can guarantee you could too long it to work. Get to work. Anyway as. I'm -- you listen tonight on the replay and if you do have a question based on the leader in the show. Fire off the email and just point -- my attention they'll save army you'll -- in the next -- that. I exist are remember that after having lost Brady in the first week US listeners like -- your opinions about who other than the Patriots with a favorite to win in the AF. And that is exactly what I wrote eases my after the team other than my Patriots in the if he would he Pittsburgh. And I based on the idea that Pittsburgh had basically an intact -- of players. -- have enough playoff experience but all that they are good at playing under late November December and January weather conditions. They are hard nose hitting team and often cross the line. Over Patriots finish strong for the playoff run I think we had a shot editing in Pittsburgh for that we now. Depend not only on our own efforts -- all on the failure of others and that is the part I don't like. But being in the situation anyway I wish the best from Miami I want you dead on. Then kudos to you for -- Purdue that it actually do vaguely remember the email. But just because -- is a good team taller and on the yeah Pittsburgh. One thing that they do well is they play well in harsh conditions and they had to over the years because. Conditions arguably have been no tougher anywhere else than in Pittsburgh. All the years. They've learned how to play in those conditions. Pittsburgh el Amin this was 1010 game that should have been seventeen to have to -- budget thank. Patriots should have been up a touchdown at -- Could completely changed the entire complexion. Of the football game if you're going to that have to -- probably. To that extent I don't feel like this team got pounded. I feel like this team made a couple of mistakes that snowballed into getting pounded yet. What I'm not afraid of a rematch of that should get that way in the playoffs are you. No I'm not. Ultimately that may be the case ultimately you know you know unit -- Pittsburg Pittsburg but that shouldn't that shouldn't intimidate anybody here right. I want AFC championship games in Pittsburgh. So why would that intimidate anybody around here answers it would. I would like to have that opportunity like -- that this is the year that one of those so called flawed teams getting in and do damage. -- Patriots with a fait accompli last year look what happened. There's no reason they can't turn the corner and to earn that same trick on somebody and that is Patriot fans. Probably what you need to focus on right now. Yes one week at a time yet one win at a time one game at a time. No that you need to win these last four to have a legitimate shot at reaching the post season tournament. -- been mucho time over the course of the next week talking about that very scenario I'll look for to a getting all those comments from you -- that. Odd don't forget in the hall coming up next here on Patriots dot com radio with the tip of Bryan Morry. Lot of beyond a right after a program will be back in past times and -- channel tomorrow. Right here on Patriots dot com radio. I'm going to leave you at least here. Well at this stage of the game all of of this program but letting you listen -- the -- called Patriots reporters had with Dean Pees Patriots defense coordinator perspective. On the game on Sunday what lies ahead for this walking wounded the -- p.'s page a coordinator."

Play from 1:43:20[1:43:20]" There's been up on the block them -- it didn't comment on that changed what what led lit and I might be benefiting from the well what led to a little bit it was getting ready for Miami and typical in that game. A little bit some other personal things. Dictate a lot of what we end up on and sometimes it's difficult to. Get that information from the box maybe round of the sideline in time to make the call give it and and so what we -- we tried. I've coordinated from both Serbs -- Michael ware recorded college most of I was upstairs. So want to prior to see -- don't like talked about CF. If in -- could see things that a little better and get more in a little quicker try to get calls -- quicker. And has it worked out pretty good Miami so we try it again. This last week and it's it's going to become a week to week thing based on what the other team does the his dignity you can actually see that being better conceived the problems and things like that develop easier from up there that you can't on the sideline you don't have to have somebody tell you."

Play from 1:44:30[1:44:30]" Indeed while while you can maybe see it better I would imagine them it ultimately it. A little bit further away from the playing field how that affected sort of you feel."

Play from 1:44:39[1:44:39]" For the game in that regard."

Play from 1:44:41[1:44:41]" What kind of will Lee has affected his deal I spent a lot of times to -- buildup there's a little different our situation what. -- there that he can only speak to the defense. A lot of times he would speak to the front so long I was speaking then becomes secondary or linebackers and secondary. The only difference does he have enough speaks to the whole group. That's been minority downside and some I was close maybe to the second period of players but the upside others is that. You know we can get all the corrections. A little. Maybe a little quicker and a little cleaner. In the -- actually happens in times of those first games. We were just kind of trying to figure out what actually happened. And kind of work that way I think right now we we got a pretty good grasp on if there is a problem here's the problem there's no complex and certainly. You know bill can relate it to the whole defense down there. Can concerned that the latency pitcher though could be -- Well it is -- there are all players that ultimate experiences just that time of the year where. You know everybody's geared up -- trying to make a run for the playoffs of the -- best rookie any scheme and and doesn't matter what team you're on whatever but it got. But people little extra duty your -- teams that are that are probably banged up and guys are out -- most of them more guys are taken more snaps and it has just the way there -- instances. But you can do about it. And real it to say it's a concern it's sort of it's always a concern -- all players not just Jerod Mayo so but that is what a difference though it's. It's a concern which just haven't wanted to look that you got to deal with that they got to be aware that they understand that we actually. Watch it close sort -- it relates season. Our -- I don't know you know it's it's that he you don't know that because he -- a rookie and he hasn't been throws that you really don't know. I don't know whether that's the case and I can go the other way too because he's such young vital that -- had may be easier on him to go to the late season might be an older guys. Then -- who wears down quicker so there's just there's no real way. I think every guy's going to be different and some guys to get stronger. As the years go as the year goes army guys involved. Wrote about running backs that seem to get stronger as the year goes and they -- more series they have a stronger they get product to be in control of decency. He just don't know every every -- an individual case. He now."

Play from 1:47:25[1:47:25]" Richard Seymour the on the radio yesterday lobbying for a little more playing time on third down. How difficult that those decisions you as a coach you know obviously he's. Move maybe the most started being most talented defensive play -- up. But like the bottom up there for every single snaps that he determines. Where when he plays."

Play from 1:47:44[1:47:44]" Let's just that decision until really plays an important role that bill really. Does an awful lot of personal decisions and we we sit down talk about what schemes going to be at. How we're going to play it what's the best way that we can do it for as a team and what's of those where we can. Rotate players how we do this are we do that is going to be different every week in the game. Based on what the other team does and so we just can't sit down beginning of the week and kind of throughout the whole week's -- the week goes. And determine how most ever going into the game and and really when it comes to personnel decisions. You know I certainly have him put the built for sale of that. Can -- coming from and it says you know I feel like best players should be on the field and the most important down. Well we always try to put what we think is the best situation in the post players. On the on the field for that situation so it's. Every player I'm sure wants to play. More would like to play all the time and I think all I can tell you is that you know we make the decision based on what we think the situation there's. And who should be on there that's."

Play from 1:48:56[1:48:56]" About the secondary in the third Aaron -- much of the day what you. Beckett Birdie Putt on the third are like as out. Mora but I guess that the best way to let you know aren't that curt -- a lot of -- certain that it hurt. I seen anything that. Are not -- that should or shouldn't be."

Play from 1:49:20[1:49:20]" Well generally it's just something different everyday contact and it's usually the almost some kind of a technique problem that is really where. That's what bothered me about the last game -- that that we would get everybody covered both a guy and and generally it was eight technique problem more than one of those anything else there are some times. Where I would certainly say a play we could be -- a better he felt we could be -- that are called. Might have been not the best situation he sometimes you you know that happens and -- and you say well you know I they got -- on now or. But you know we just got to do a better job of to have some with techniques that we do and I think some times we. You know we just had a better -- I don't think it's any one particular thing like book Federer seems like every -- some balance. It's something different sorts or it's a different -- art and so. You know we just we gotta do better cross court."

Play from 1:50:15[1:50:15]" It more frustrating. Thing that I -- but hey -- work on a tree. It bit bigger quiet but -- that -- what -- did that and -- of different."

Play from 1:50:29[1:50:29]" Yeah it is it's it it does become frustrated becomes frustrating if that's especially something that you know that you emphasized during the week in hand. Maybe you give it up and -- that that's frustrating sometimes that's case sometimes it's must not the case it is sometimes to. Offensive player just makes poor play of the defensive player. You can't look at those that makes a great -- guys diving catcher balls you know two inches off the ground again makes sliding catch. You know you gotta live with some of those are going to get the ball but certainly we gotta do better on third down what we've been dormant and his legacy across the board at all players and they included."

Play from 1:51:10[1:51:10]" It was one where there aren't quite particular that what about a -- late in the third quarter. Like -- that you get traded to sub package on the field. And at the last three guys rush from Roethlisberger right and yet he jumped off Miller. Of the night it and -- and I assume the double and Kuwait. You design it and maybe in the pre snap confusions someone. What's wrong --"

Play from 1:51:39[1:51:39]" What I ability you can you can assume that it was correct. What actually happened was the safety didn't get down it goes directly be on the tight end open on it was point off. And he got the call late that part of the problem -- ball. Getting in -- late was. We had some confusion what personnel we have no -- because they ran a tight end on and then turnaround and let all the way to parliament around him back off. And we put him another package and we made -- call late. Which. Should have been an illegal substitution but wasn't so but anyhow we get our car -- the safety came down late pitcher right. We should open up the point of on the play them."

Play from 1:52:26[1:52:26]" You know just curious. If seeing James and have a big game against you guys brought back any memories with the history that you have with him."

Play from 1:52:35[1:52:35]" Floating currency you know it's. With James Harrison. Mark the last game of the season in 2001 it at Kent State. That one play left in the season were 55 -- stated that winning season in. Twenty years and we're playing Miami of Ohio on a lot of murders -- of quarterback. They get the ball on the one yard line corner and were point 421. And we know it's going to be the last play or probably want to put -- mostly. And her first downs and a member of all the pressure where. We called time out orders over the side. But he -- also and so what you get get this guy. And they were in the chart you know and and -- the ball after the quarterback Roethlisberger. Harrison and -- And so I've seen that on the good side that you have on the bad side but it isn't really excellent place for me. XXX can't. -- in Miami you know again we -- beat number and the first time -- you know beat Miami. Who knows how long in the for the winning seasons so it was a big Larry you know obviously it was a very big part of that whole year. I don't question -- You know just wondering what does the lack of turnovers -- the team can can you read into that in the indicate anything. He latitude -- that would just what you read until you want to create enough leave. You know we're just we're who I think. I would just not doing and we just gotta hit the second and third guys come on him on the wildest try to. It's the bottle but more -- little -- You know play on the ball in the air. You know when you don't get turnovers as surely because. You know -- you'd want to attack on that maybe not a mystery knocked the ball off. You know secondly you're not playing the ball in the -- we we've -- a few chances where we dropped the ball which will help whistle all the you know it's always concerned are you want to create turnovers mean turnover the other night the start the game are led to a sport which goes off to a good start. Unfortunately didn't get any after that and we just got to keep working on trying to get. -- to all these you know active at second and third guy getting in there. Not not necessarily I just haven't seen us certainly looked -- the ball together so we just gotta keep. Emphasize that point we've had -- week two or three guys in on the tackle but I think you know world. Just make him attack would get a better job of maybe stripped the ball out of there and get the ball well when we -- But if you let it. Be that."
