I was small on the surround when I saw that news announcement in well -- He potentially has time to take care of all the arrangements between now and Sunday. Fly out be here for the game on Sunday and then go back down to Southern California for the for the funeral on on Monday again that's just -- only an area in my head. But we don't know for certain uh oh what's gonna happen yet maybe you'll know more today. About what -- minutes away right now from players arriving for practice. And their availability what the media. No coach thought cheque today as there's the normal Thursday schedule. So we won't get any updates directly from him but we'll see what we can get from any of the players on what they may or may not now. As far as having talked with thirteen that there -- so once that happens. Like yesterday we'll try to check back in and out that we did -- know --"

[2:52]" Okay very good aren't that -- that so that's a step then at least we're getting some. Of information down I mean it's pretty clear to see that and everybody has been unanimous with this. I can't expect that there would be a different take on this from anyone but fact is is that everybody handles. The death of a family member differently. There is there is no right way to handle it. Some people have to grieve differently than others some people need to be kept busy some people need to be by themselves. You know it's really entirely up to Matt. It's heart warming I think to know that his teammates. Feel like they do about him the fact that he has now become a leader. If not -- leader in the clubhouse. Does something I think about his character and about how the guys believe in him and that if he needs little time the guys are willing to you know allow him to have that."

[3:43]" Certainly and you know it's done. It's interesting how this season has played out you know he's he's been the perennial back up ever since he left -- school. We don't know his -- at USC and then you know playing behind two Heisman winners there and then coming here I am IND. Super Bowl league MVP here and then you know getting his. Getting his moment to shine earlier this season. But there are you know as early years. August there were people. Saying that he wasn't going to make the team this year. That he does make the team and the and years. He has really grown into the role I think he's he's proven himself via. A very reliable and and and in some cases the prolific quarterback. This season knowledge that this ordeal that he has overcome. As just another thing. Well sort of serve I think. Make him maturing and more right. Not only as a person but but as a player too because. If you can overcome something like as as emotional as this. During the season and still perform at at a level that you expect to. That's only going to help you now on the road when when it's acted just in football and not about like in that matters. I think it'll help me put things in perspective better and and I think you'll end up eating up. You know better and better served by. You know having having to do it during the season as the poster. For the -- exit the next."

[5:16]" Sure absolutely. I'll -- kind of look at it from from this vantage point what can you tell us if anything at all Eric about. All the reps that Kevin O'Connell got a practice in with what personnel grouping of based on what you're allowed to --"

[5:30]" Yep. Unfortunately what we're allowed to see is. Very limited and much of it involves stretching you know so we only get to see generally one or two actual rules. With the players and yeah O'Connell was -- Taken the first snaps in the a couple of girls which saw what what those were basically individual quarterback girls so it's. It's not like -- in the you know gauge much of his performance with what the rest the the offense as a unit because we weren't. We weren't there to see it when it was happening. All I can go by is what his teammates said the bottom which is that. They have confidence in him and that he's proven in practice at least that he's capable of running out since he's got a strong arm and make all the throws so. I'll I'll have to take their word for that. Because we haven't really had a chance even do that."

[6:25]" Let's also look at it from this aspect. Let's just a difference is that. You know Matt does stay away all week -- and does return in time for the game is it conceivable. That he wouldn't dart or is it but given that if he comes back in time to play he's going to play."

[6:41]" Well that's that's an interest -- questions on -- I'm not sure it's one that that many people consider it at this point because so much news news is unknown but. I I would think that the legitimate possibility. Given how. You know preparation is a big part of who plays who doesn't each week and you know a lot of guys who don't. Practice for injury reasons but who might be good enough to plant Sunday don't always start because. You know it's physically and or mentally they're not prepared for that particular game. I think that's an interesting point I think it's it's it's so legitimate possibility again. Hopefully we'll know -- little bit more today than we did yesterday. About you know when he might be back or not but. I think it's I'd I'd I'd say here. You're on to their -- it's certainly a possibility."

[7:32]" Well you know I guess that's probably going to be an extremely awkward question to ask because if you basket and want to look at you like you're very you know you're an unfeeling SOB. At the same time. You know from a football standpoint. It's a legitimate question -- based on. You know what we know on you know the and the drill you know in terms of -- what the Patriots -- do every week."

[7:55]" Right yeah and and it certainly is something -- I think I think yesterday was. What the dated to address the the non football aspect of this issue and I think we did that pretty well the players did -- pretty well almost everyone had something to say about it. So I think. Either today or tomorrow would be the proper time it was sick as the closer we get the game of course we have. Focus on what's gonna actually happen on Sunday. So I think I think it's it's reasonable -- it's a start at least. Trying to ascertain what what the scenarios might be -- and answered O'Connell."

You -- back on the field yesterday -- checked those was very encouraging and -- more. Who went out of it in and didn't come back -- shoulder injury was back out there and so. Yeah I think I think the likelihood that that the two of them play this week it's is much better. Then than it first appeared."

[10:06]" Although certainly that'll certainly help things on the defensive side of the ball which is we all know is where the Patriots need the most help. Aren't I think it'll be really curious to see what they decide to do in terms of starters. In the line backing core and how that rotation goes obviously with Tedy Bruschi out."

[10:23]" Absolutely that at that one area that you know for awhile ago the secondary where's all the concern was because Beckett dropping now that's instant sort of -- We seem to have gotten -- steady contribution there and now the linebackers that are better at taking the media. Did the big casualties so you're right that is it is going to be interest in Pierre Woods didn't. Didn't practice yesterday."

[10:46]" He tripped and that would even make the trip."

[10:49]" I I have not seen him smoking that that doesn't mean he didn't but I I haven't seen him around here so. And -- on the field yesterday so that's that's not a good -- sure. And of course this is back on the east coast is now so he won't -- he won't via the out here it looks like for the Oakland game."

[11:10]" another another members of the practice squad we're traveling here as well it was almost a kind of all all hands on deck situation this week wasn't it."

[11:18]" Well that was the case speck in October to the media the players and those practice -- there's -- the first leg of the journey they came in the middle of the week. You know as they normally would participate in in practice back home at Gillette so. That wasn't too much as president that was just. You know and regularly scheduled. Took them out because they really weren't needed on Monday and Tuesday that just Gator Q settlement Tuesday that there are so. Yet at -- that's I don't think you can really read anything what read anything more into that. But yet the linebacker situation -- Intriguing because now you have. You know if Wilfork can come back and more -- come back you wonder if we're going to see maybe some more. 43 -- than we normally do just because of personnel. Limitations."

[12:13]" I think they've got the personal affront to be able to do that if they wanted to other that'll be a curious thing to watch my guess is that. They'll be stubborn enough to -- 34 but they should give a lot more 43 look I think as the the groupings and the injury situations dictate that they can do that."

[12:28]" Yeah exactly and then you know that there they certainly -- there flexible these -- and as we've seen that they they started games with with the fourth three. And shifted back and forth with that throughout the game. So it just depends on. What if it was best that particular opponent. But I think this week they'd been might be forced into a little bit more to do the personal just. It's not there it's don't have the numbers at linebacker. Unit they do have -- that induced to start a fourth period that it's units report they want to Q but I think as far as. Feeling sick again -- depth there. It might be more advantageous for them to go to war three at least for this game and and see how things shake out with with -- in words. Next week but. We'll just. -- disappointing right."

In San Jose about Brian Kelly being let go by the Lions and more than you thought the Patriots might have any interest in having him before the secondary."

[13:34]" Well and we haven't really heard anything amongst ourselves here. Scuttlebutt was about Brian -- but. At this point in the year you know -- it's sort of desperation time it. Like we kind of -- but yes it would Bruschi if they feel like they they can't wait for him recover. They think they need somebody I think they have to look in every option possible and then back I might be one of them. -- you'll have to wonder though and why a win with team let a guy ago you know how much value we had -- you know at this point."

[14:08]" Well yeah that's true and and again that was -- situation where they needed a player immediately and he was a guy with some experience and and some talent so it worked out. They're ranked or might might be one of those guys depending on what they feel they're there aren't it is not just the the silliness. Two good. You know to -- point you bring up."

[14:36]" Bands actually are our mailbag I would gotten a couple of a couple letters from people saying you know that they thought it looked good in or impressed by and I'd say he's one whether it is time. -- pleasantly surprised by because. Actually you know when when media. Our post -- issue if W we always. Interviewed the coaches of the guys who we drafted. Just the sort of get a more personal feel for -- the players. And I had I had done -- rights and draft profile on the drug meadows and it's coaches and Auburn. Infect them will -- the at Texas. Defensive or inherently puts. Is. The illusion coach super for awhile and what they were saying about him was that he was. They expected him to make this team as a sort of a slot corner. You know nickel or dime package. Not really an outside guy. Because she would they just felt is still a better suited for that. That area of the field and he -- make the team that way and -- and that's where he saw action allies in the beginning and it was. Within the slot and in nickel and dime packages but. So I was -- surprise -- come up there on the edge. Against Seattle. You know because I hadn't expected that on the -- here but he has actually shown. A lot of progress. Since since training camp is he really has come into his own and he's a lot more confident a player than I think he was. When he was first drafted because. -- fourth round pick here certainly not a guarantee that nicotine. And at the -- himself on a team that you know at a position to whether or. Numbers like there were a lot of guys a lot of talent on the Internet making it and he's he's worked his way up and you know is is is a player with a bigger upside and he's certainly show that now so. Yeah I'm I'm pleasantly surprised by it."

[16:35]" You know on the same lines I think we've seen as being as as the the burden has really been placed more so this season on a guy like out. Brandon Meriweather he's begun to rise to the occasion and and I'm wondering if you get the impression may -- of others have also got the impression. A that maybe this is the year where the light went on -- Brandon head into this all you have to do it to be successful in the NFL."

[17:01]" I think it's I think he's another one to who is starting to show some confidence. And I think that have a lot do with the the playing time getting you know last year it was it was sort of bet bet. Nicole slot kind of corner it's actually even -- they have. -- position that he was playing it was sort of like -- You can play here or there -- and so we need to this year it's more you know especially with a lot of Paris and earlier in the year it's. -- more -- he knows what he's doing every game and I think that helps. What is. Is development as he -- he's focusing on one aspect. Of his game and he can devote more attention to that and -- and you know he's getting reps every game starting every game in. You know he's throwing the role. And that they that John -- first -- all about -- going to have the I ain't back yet from you but I out article that the -- had anything."

The defensive MVP for this team. For all the good in all of the accolades that we had heaped upon Jerod Mayo and deservedly so. He's had a remarkable year he certainly deserves you know. Rookie of the year consideration to -- of rookie of the year you know consideration as well. But to me from my money the true MVP of this team the guy that keeps it all together is Vince Wilfork. The Patriots -- much better run. In him to capping of their -- Lara wing guys like Mayo to make their fair share of tackle. You know having Wilfork and -- Warren in that front along with Richard Seymour is absolutely. Necessary for the Patriots in the final three games stretched. If they are going to win out and have a chance to get in the playoffs necessary they have to have now they might be able to get away this week. If one of those guys are journalists -- back and Warren was in late scratch. Which frankly. But for the injury report came out yesterday participation report rather not -- injury report more on. And before it came out -- they always thinking well the wheel or back nobody really knew Warren status is going to big. And he did return to practice limited base yesterday have to think at least there's now. You know a 5050 chance if not better than that because he was 5050 last week over the Seattle game and -- and didn't suit up so. There's a chance -- back out there and if he does and that only help the team especially now Tedy Bruschi and missing cog. In the middle of the of the line backing -- he certainly expect. Both Junior Seau and Roosevelt Colvin to a get at least fifty present and have this week like they did last week amazing and a and -- I read up on them my creases of blog. Out of the defensive participation report 57 plays. Both Colvin and they'll -- on 28. Were 29 which is right at fifty per. You can expect that to happen at the minimum again and I wouldn't be at all surprised out of 5060 plays that they weren't in for forty plus. Because it's just getting -- out there. So calm and perhaps they would be able to stay on -- and that if both guys like Wilfork in watery logos so that's a step in the right direction. But the team Monday and on off as well as you would expect and expect at this stage Kevin O'Connell been getting the reps at practice. On. At first team with the first team line. A first team receivers with a pristine back. On just in the event that Matt Cassel does not return and perhaps we'll get an update on that for the program is over with today. -- one whatever way it goes mom you know legitimate question as we after a short while ago would be you know. If madness is all the pregame prep and shows up in time for the game does he still got the start. I don't know how you feel about that frankly. If the players all feel his team. If coach Belichick is encouraging him to stay away you know to deal with family time Durbin takes -- time. Been to -- if he's able to come back and be here. He should play. Considering the year that he's had. He should play I don't really think that I just don't I don't think I think that's a no brainer now I say that with all respect Kevin O'Connell. You know you're here could all would be if you look at this thing long term now. Here is a perfect chance. For you to figure out if you got your backup quarterback for next year because again I think we all realize that Matt Cassel I'd say very strong. It won't be back here next year because he'll most likely find him a free agent deal somewhere. And he'll be able to command way more dollars -- much more -- than he would as a back up for the Patriots no question. And I know people talk about the Patriot franchising Cassel and I'm not all the that's going to happen in fact I believe couple weeks ago I even advocated that -- Still think might not be bad idea especially you know. You've got somebody you can deal. Because -- got somebody who'd give your first round pick for the guy and many think about doing that maybe you think about doing that he's guarantee the -- at Ankiel. The the team you're dealing with you know has -- don't franchise. But then again you don't have the right to trade him if you franchise so I think it's okay cool I think it all has a you know 11. Hand you know washes the other for the but if you don't have cancer link you than -- your chance -- Kevin O'Connell. In absolute you know game -- pressure. Situation. What does he do with the team we're not talking about you know pre season you know -- year. Because quite frankly that we'll realize that what is during the pre sees it it's just not. A true testament to their ability next year when we get the next August we'll probably he Kevin O'Connell more than you care to ever see the -- personal Tom Brady you'll probably. Be very measured in his steps coming back humanity even play during the pre season although. Can imagine from their from the injury you would normally try to begin to shake off some of the rust and the conversation for another day. Kevin O'Connell will undoubtedly. Be the man and he will be the focal point next -- It -- you get a sneak -- Maybe you get an early look. And down. If you're able to get an early look I realize that their -- are up there's a lot of pressure on here. You know what caught you -- but it is an opportunity. -- the guy can do it in whether or not you know well. You might need to quantify your self another quarterback in the off season so it's an interesting question it's I'm fortunate that -- like this has to happen. Because of somebody he'll miss fortune no question about it almost like injuries but the same time you are you have to treat this like an injury situation you really do. -- again without feeling being on feeling and in in unemotional about it because we all -- we said so yesterday we say again today. Certainly and the many of our thoughts and prayers have been with him and his family during and a very tough time especially those of bonds' who have lost parent. And and I -- one of those. And in the not too far away future or not to forward past that it happened -- At the same time yeah you have to treat them like this like an -- And that you're pretty much have to expect that he's not going to be easier because you really don't have any other way. It to plan for because if you don't play over his non return than if you're caught short by his not returning -- at your own fault. You have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best and and that I think is -- the Patriots are doing my guess is. It least internally and again this just an educated guess. -- what I think but my own opinion that the Patriots are preparing for Kevin O'Connell are the football game -- it doesn't mean you well. Maybe they get an indication here shortly that -- said though I've got to get things in order but all the back for the game on Sunday so I can return for the funeral on Monday. That's a possible. It's possible. And if so it would be at all surprised if the Patriots go ahead and give him the not. Even in spite of the fact that maybe just maybe. You know their thinking about trying to give Kevin O'Connell put the -- there aren't Erica took him back in from and --"

Or anything remotely close to that I mean frankly. You know if the Lions were play in the Raiders right now you have to like the Lions at. Least I would. But the Raiders have beaten you know a couple of decent teams this year they have knocked off Denver they have knocked off the Jets as we talked about. You don't yesterday shows so you know. It's hard to say that you know they won't be competitive even though you know what you want to -- that it's not that way that the Patriots with minimal effort. You know in in minimal further injury can get through this you know for the last two games of the season. And they got black Oakland got blasted in their first game at Denver they won at Kansas City. They lost a one point game at Buffalo. They lost at ten point game to San Diego they were certainly in it even though they started out he's won in three and they got blown away and or they won in four. Before they they beat the Jets in overtime back on October the 91. And four that made him two and four. In thinking well is their chance to pull up here no because then they get via Baltimore they get shot out to Atlanta they lose to Carolina. The you know even though after Tom cable came -- They did win or they did lose very closely at Miami only lost -- two point -- you recall I was a game that. Miami kicked late field goal to win it seventeen to fifteen. They did win big at Denver 31 to ten almost inexplicably. And they lost by a touchdown to Kansas City twenty to thirteen two weeks ago. So you take one whom. Then probably. Three other losses. That could easily have been wins for the Raiders. In all of a sudden. You don't their instead of you know three and -- and they're six and haven't. And while they're probably you know eliminated from wild card contention in the AFC. At six and seven you're not feel and so all of them. -- team's chances this week is compared to where they are right now let's face. You know it's six and seven they day and you know that's probably where this team lies in terms of their personnel and their ability. Little bit closer to 503. In -- would certainly indicate that again my own bought my own opinion here bomb. They are -- in the in the NFL in rushing yardage on offense. So they've had a pretty good rush offense the Patriots a run above them in ninth. They are dead last in passing offense so obviously there's no two ways about that. That brings a row overall average of law to overall and down to I think twenty ninth out of the 32 teams. But rushing the football. If they do is we were told by my wagon means they have there's a way that they can put the ball in Darren McFadden is hands more than they've done in the past the Oakland is going to be they're going to be competitive. You know maybe a day data Fargas and and known. -- and McFadden and and there are going to force the Patriots to stop that. Frankly that can only go. Defensively. Asking fans it's certainly has been a at least a bullet passed the fans. For the -- They are eight. It pass Stevens in the NFL -- given up under 200 yards per game passing. Going in the last week 193 point nine which had him eighth in the NFL. And that's well above where the patrons of the -- for sixteenth in the league in pass defense -- Before last week so you know. Com which you know it's a good thing that I think the Patriots have -- anymore and LaMont Jordan are healthy because to meet. If it is going to be Kevin O'Connell with time -- quarterback that you want to take all the pressure off of in the UK and and certainly there's a reason. That you'd you'd been here he'd -- between the tackles. And runs -- pass for a you know a younger quarterback. May not necessarily be the case event Cassel was in their but. In -- the numbers would certainly seemed to indicate that that could be await ago. They're not a ball control -- when I have even though they. Run the football considerably better than they -- they would not in his -- ball control offense. And they only have the ball 47 points and amendments game. So it's team that -- You know has some decent numbers about it but there -- a couple of glaring numbers that are out there. They've only scored sixteen all -- a touchdown all year long. You'd have to think that certainly plays and the Patriots and and you know for Patriots defense that is you know literally walking wounded. That ought to be a little better. I don't really see a high scoring game here are much of the Patriots would even be capable of of high scoring game where this where this match of his concern. Right now -- kind of leaning. You know I said you know I need you know two scores -- you score with Matt Cassel at quarterback and without him. Are at quarterback on Sunday and within a quarterback that the Patriots probably win this one. Somewhere in the Kennedy of I'd -- 27. To twelve. Without Matt Cassel at quarterback it's probably going to be closer to about. Twenty to fourteen. Or twenty to thirteen. Michael -- anyway I think it would be a little close without him. Patriots might have to go right down you know into the fourth quarter but not dissimilar to what happened this last week against Seattle. If Matt Cassel is not in and doesn't get them out -- I think you know if you're able to get you know the black hole out of it you score early here. Surely one of the visiting venues that team goes into where the crowd can you can really. Play in effect and you've been to Oakland and gone to the experience all you you know want to speak and that's the one thing Oakland does very well. They get the home crowd behind them that music and even on the team as lousy. Mom. If you're labelled them -- to get up early. And force -- to come from behind. After the -- for Baltimore which is getting out of their comfort zone and whether it's what did you Margaret JaMarcus Russell or -- Andrew Walter then you are are doing your job and you're well on your way. A toward beating them. You know their wins. Two of their three wins this year have come on the road. Their one home win of the season. Their only win at home was the overtime win over the Jets back on October the nineteenth that's been it. So they're unbeatable team. As long as you don't let them stay in the game. That's really what it boils down -- you don't let them stay in the game it's beatable it's winnable I'm not you know. I realize that I'm preaching to the choir here but just one thing the Patriots have to do so you know hearing is up you don't hear opportunity. Here is opportunity and down. -- the Patriots can get one step closer to a try to perhaps you know emerged. As the leader in terms of the AFC east playoff picture. You know as we I've talked about this week column if the playoff word to start. This week the Patriots would be on the outside looking in of the Jets would have the four spot. On in terms of the of the division lead because they lead the Patriots by a half game in the division standings there's three and one -- the pats and Dolphins are both. Three and two in the division. The Jets and the Dolphins are both X and or in the conference. While the Patriots are only five and five. In the AFC. Another big reason for the Patriots to in this game they they need conference wins here. They've got to get these last two they'd be evident five of the conference that before and two in the division. And the Patriots will will need that. In other undefeated as we know that won thirteen straight regular season gets from the NFC. Com but they're still going to need the overall win total all over Arizona next week and we -- we get to that point oh. That's now you understand a little bit more why. The Patriots are behind the eight ball in terms of any kind of a tie with the Jets of the Dolphins and of course the Jets and Dolphins still have to play each other. You know in these last three weeks one of those teams is going all by the wayside. Will back it up here today by saying the same thing we did yesterday. You still need either Miami. Or New York to lose -- to lose. One of their last three. The Jets remaining opponents. They have Buffalo of course this week to play at Seattle and then they will play Miami. Now the most likely scenario I mean obviously playing at Seattle won't be easy because the Patriots proved that. But Seattle is 211. You have to wonder if Buffalo will ever be able to pull themselves out of the Schneider's been enemy as a team has started 51 in their six at. They have really collapsed. You know even though the players in reading reports at a Buffalo this week said that they haven't given up on -- on did Girardi you have to wonder a little bit. How that's going. I don't seem the Jets lose I really don't. I'm not sure I see the Jets losing in in that instance that's going to be bad news for the Patriots though. I I I -- Jets probably winning that game in Miami because it'll be in New York. You have to hope somewhere there that. They're going to lose either the Buffalo game or the at Seattle game. And even though the Jets have stumbled the last two weeks and lost two games they probably should have won. I'm not convinced yet that they're going to lose either one of those camps that may not be good scenario we can't really do anything about it right now. You can only worry about yourself but that again just my own point of view is going to look ahead Miami's remaining opponents. They have San Francisco this week then they play at Kansas City and and they play at the Jets to wrap it up. Now it's certainly possible that -- sisco get a win because Andrew Sisco. Beat the Jets last week but the Miami Dolphins get numbers is going home this week. The playing in south or. And I think we all know that traditionally west coast teams that come east. The they struggled. Miami probably wins that they probably when it -- it then they're going to lose the Jets Miami would be tenant. I don't think that's I don't think that's the problem. I think the Jets probably take care of Miami I think you have to realize the Jets need to lose. Either Buffalo or at Seattle one of those two the Patriots ultimately win the division. And that is of course if you take care of your own business and win these last -- That has had. It starts this -- have to me. I'm going to be watching just as intently almost as the Patriots game on Sunday are going to be watching -- the New York Jets. I think that may be the best chance for the Jets to load. I guess are probably the closer of the two teams between them and the -- that could do that because the Ravens opponents are Pittsburgh at Dallas. In Jacksonville. You could see them losing Pittsburgh you could see them losing an. At Dallas. I think as a Patriot and you probably have to hope that happens. You certainly have to hope they lose at least one but it'll probably take two. Because of their conference record. Baltimore converts -- evident three. And because -- evident three in the -- can't do it better than seven and five. So that might not get this out until last week. So I think you know it if Baltimore loses to Pittsburg this week of the year after root for the Steelers Patriots fans which it may Pena and now. If they lose to Dallas in the Patriots whatever chance. Even with that. Miami. New York Jets game if that is for the division title patrons -- chance to get -- as the wild card with a win over Buffalo. If Baltimore loses to Pittsburgh ended now that's how that kind of plays -- that the Colts final three games. On the play Detroit this week they're at Jacksonville on and they end up with Tennessee in the last game but. And again that game with Tennessee is going to means very very little of the Titans. That probably is an area where you can -- The Titans resting guys. So honestly. And because the Colts have their game at home with Tennessee. I don't think Indianapolis loses again he Toyota team on a roll one of the playoffs Colts are going to be twelve and four at nine games in a row. That they will of one going in the post season. -- opportunities going to come from Baltimore. Or it's going to come from Buffalo beating the Jets this Sunday. Of their. You know and I would Allman and looked at this last night kids and -- try to that is best I could and obviously it's an imperfect science but. They know what I'm reading here in based on what I've looked at looking at all the schedules in the a medium you have gone through the scenarios as well. This appears to be the Patriots best opportunity get in. You'll have to find a way to load to root for a Buffalo this week against the Jets and root for the Ravens to go down to Pittsburgh in the -- down again. At Dallas week after next --"

And in that scenario. -- the Patriots would only be able to squeeze in as a wild card if Baltimore loses two of their last three."

That that fact that you played hard all year at the plate. -- type of games all year I think it just makes you better for the playoffs I mean I think we saw a better than any example last year. Teams that you when they had things locked up kind of coasting wondered two weeks you know it all came back by committee you know what. This may be the easiest chance than to lose in the last three if you look at it just on paper."

Decide to win games is the -- to beat in the Jets certainly you know Buffalo looks like there -- completely the opposite direction. But I agree with you these divisional games you know Buffalo was beaten him in New York last two years so let's let's keep that in mind. Here's what I think will happen with the three finals between Bradford and Colt McCoy and the Tim Tebow I I believe. In my own opinion and I used to have a -- on Heisman vote years ago until I got elevate the daily talk show business -- a Heisman vote and a really fans to vote went though I actually was on the of the of the voting committee. As part of sports writers that were in sports broadcasters that were elected to a via a voter on the panel. I think that Tim Tebow is going to win. Obviously I'm going to support Colt McCoy because I think he's had a better season overall of the three. Now when you added to his ground game. You know he leads the team in rushing. On the fact that you know they had every bit as good record is either one of the of the two teams and yes he beat Oklahoma so. In that regard yeah I personally believe if he wins it he deserves. Not like he doesn't deserve it -- But I don't think he wouldn't I think it's gonna go to Tebow because I think the vote for Bradford and McCoy especially in that part of the country will wind up canceling each other route. And I think even though Tim Tebow has not. Statistically head. The season that he had last year when he won at the fact that he has had a solid year at the very least. And the fact that his team is in the national title game against Oklahoma. And he hasn't really done anything to hurt his chance even though he hasn't been you know highly thought other repeating. And when you add to the fact that it's difficult for a got to repeat as and you know it kind of thing doesn't happen. I think you repeat. And he joins Archie Griffin and category which will be a rarity. So again. I hope the McCoy wins. I won't be surprised to Tim Tebow and frankly I will be surprised if if Sam red wings. Because I think the voters. May end up hiding. With Bradford over McCoy symbol because Oklahoma is in the champ and that'll make you happy strip. So annoyed. You know -- McCoy finished third it would stun me. -- I don't think he deserves to be third but he deserves to be first or those other two but again. You know voters are voters that's why they do zone anyway and there in my thoughts on the Heisman. And we'll see what happens on Saturday. Court by the way is coming back next. He's already said that though I think tech with him back next year Texas should be should be an early favorite in the clubhouse -- For the national championship in in 2009. And I think we all realized that would also be the way to go because if you win the division title that he get a game at home you're guaranteed a home game. The coin toss is overly important I'm and we talked about this on this program this year I am a proponent for changing. The NFL overtime calm and aerial and and how they handle. I think each team should get the ball -- I don't think you should -- Actually what I really think -- would do with just let him play the -- fifteen minutes. Overtime -- overtime doesn't have to be sudden death when the first team to score wins and it's over let them play the -- fifteen minutes. I think you realize that many of these games many of the overtime games that are played now on the NFL. The overtime goal good solid 78910. Minutes anyway which is out of the quarter. That's half of the period. -- going to play want half of it play -- If you're good enough to win and go to the heavily you're good enough to hold probably. If you don't -- probably not good enough to. Play the quarter. On the that would be the easiest way to do play the extra fifteen minute. And then the game is -- tied the game as it. After -- more playing time you don't have to risk anymore injuries -- in the NL play the -- fifteen minute overtime period. And then be done with the score still tied after five quarters that it goes down is a market goes down as a guy period. Now of course in the playoffs is different. You play the full fifteen minutes but it -- hide it. After the overtime quarter then you're going to sudden I would I would agree with because nobody wants to play forever but at the very least in the playoffs. You can certainly say. Without question that -- team would've had a fair and equitable opportunity to win the game. But playing a whole extra quarter and if it's still tied then overtime I think probably you your your will serve going to sudden death. In that instance and in that instance alone. Of you have to find a way to break a time then just break the bank in time by playing an extra quarter. Period I don't think you have to go to the college idea I don't think you have to. You don't have to do any of that. Just play the next quarter and move on. I I hope that they haven't I -- the competition committee takes a look at that I would certainly be a proponent of that. And them. -- time will tell which you're right yeah the Patriots were actually have the advantage over the Jets at that game and ended 3130. But again you know you play under the rules that you have.
