Play from 0:00[0:00]" Let's go let's go let's go -- without golf -- want to -- pot pie. That they've won mirror excuse patriots -- welcome back got combat all. Breaking down last Sunday's game -- man coverage and -- yeah. And I thought on the seventh round next at least you're ready for the great Jack do okay we'll give them money on third floor every. Great for the rest of the 2000 and it -- because of the and some of the plug stuff in between. Didn't quite turn out --"

Play from 0:42[0:42]" Opened the way that we. That many of at least thought it was going to turn out on Sunday nevertheless. A win is a win is a win is a win and you've got the only undefeated team in the NFL now at nine and -- with a five week we will -- you inside the playbook. For a Tuesday it is week number ten in the NFL with the with the patriots get off probably could not come up. At a better time John rookie would -- dot com radio and there are many many things to get into. Take a little bit of time today to sort of kind of reflect. On where this team stands nine weeks. You know we've already done a little bit above the hole you know could they."

Play from 1:20[1:20]" Possibly go -- 16 an opening and that's going to be a prevalent conversation I think to take over the course the next. You know seven or eight weeks I'm not so sure that's really were going to go although you have your thoughts on your thoughts are always welcome patriots web radio at patriots dot com email address web radio -- patriots dot com the telephone number if you'd like to call in fact if you've never done it. This is a good way to do it leading into the by week 5 wait 5437482. Again 585437482 with a telephone number. Uh oh we will recap Witt Brian Lowe from patriots today is scheduled to Jonas in the second hours in on Liz on Tuesday's as well. But I kind of take stock on things don't take a look at some things almost but army oppositional nature today take a look at. Certainly what's going well but what may not be going well because those of you who normally get a chance to tune into the program two -- realize that this is what we called nitpick Tuesday. And so what we do is we like to pick lots of and it's around here if any thing. We may be just should follow the lead the other of the way the team is going to call this humble pie Tuesday. -- because of all the humbled by teacher it's still a problem in the locker. So humble -- Tuesday nitpick Tuesday whichever you prefer that will be part of what we're going to go to they would today's discussion I want you to pick yet again for me. One aspect of this whole nine in those starts. One aspect of this night -- start that just doesn't sit well with you and this could be on the field. Off the field it could have to do with marketing it could be because you think you know any heart from POW progress blows I mean giving everything right. He could just I mean whatever whatever doesn't sit well with you. Through nine weeks. That's what I want to talk about today. Part of nitpick Tuesday. Humble pie Tuesday here patriots dot -- I'm very happy to be joined today by -- young man who -- mention all of this to you last week this week was going to be sort of the futures week here. On -- patriots playbook I am privileged to teach class in Sports Radio an Emerson College this is the all moderate one and only Fred -- editor in chief of patriots football weekly in in running things the patriots dot com. And Fred of courses is very much into load in taking care of the student from his alma -- especially the ones that are talented and I haven't have considerable talent once who have been able to chisel some time out of their very busy college schedule around. Clauses we miss him today and they're going to join us here both today and on Thursday is will be joining us suited as a gentleman the name of Tom -- It's not money you know like the mayor of Boston but it's close and you'll accept old jokes of course yes it is cool clothes and let -- graduate of thanks for this is fantastic to to be here and a you know where it's like offers perspective -- to live -- I tried to do that early in the year and everybody thought you know I think for the most -- people -- the only you can -- is -- on the kicking game and it's it's pretty bad you know -- yeah yeah it's an impact things are going pretty well we'll -- it will get into some of that because. There are obviously a lot of other issues today over what transpired on Sunday in Indianapolis that people are still buzzing about number one has to do with the fact that allegedly the colts were accused at least initially piping sound into the stadium. On during the course the game which course the NFL has now debunked however CBS has admitted as much now that it was their problem and -- CBS has done for the uninitiated was done in case you hadn't heard the story based on a couple of sources that I vote -- and spoken with today a lot of times television production they. Bring in some what they call ambience around and they do it in order to fill gaps based on where they placed their pro ball microphones on the field of a long story short. Sometimes from the crowd is low. They bring up the crowd was just to keep that even were it doesn't sound distorted in where some times they don't have to ride the announcers microphones all. Terribly technical. You know but this but it always is you know little bit about this going through in a radio production electorate and -- the sound of machine. It's basically computer the computer that was in control of filling in the gaps in the noise. -- and that's what you heard what you did on television although it was not audible apparently to anybody in the stadium and unfortunately much as I'd like to believe Lenny Clarke was on WBI earlier this morning -- six. I now on I don't approach I I don't know if he really knew what he heard because chances are he was already three sheets the wind anyway so right. You know but the paint the thing is is that whether you know. I realize that this gives. Patriots fans of the the kind of complain about oh are we had spike -- in the year that people want to call this some. Audio gate or please pray whatever that article that spot. But it's not really the colts problem although the colts have long have been accused of doing the very thing that initially they were accused of don't. This is not the first time has come up I personally tend to believe top. That where there's smoke there's always a little bit of fire and soul -- and we talked about this backwards by -- in -- on the patriots guilty of something yup probably. Are they doing anything that somebody else doesn't do no probably not doesn't make it right. But -- published some two and one thing that I always stand for is. Take the two extremes take both sides of the story the answer is always where -- where Amanda exactly right so there's got to -- a little. You know some sparks here this is concerned and maybe CBS is the guilty part of the fact is somebody piped in some audio we're probably should not meant. Attitude that the fact that the patriots never had their coach to quarterback communication during the course of the game. And -- audio gate thing takes a little bit different matter know again this is something the patriots. Have long been accused of being guilty of opposing teams not having the communication between neither the sideline in the press box or between the coaches and the quarterback you know -- we -- green -- chancellor -- that's because they're the ones that have the radio receivers in the helmet in case you know that another habit that probably did know so. What it does here since his comments fuel to the rivalry fire."

Play from 7:49[7:49]" Of that but as it did it that would most of the of the first first and foremost. You know. The colts are legal team it's been accused of pumping out -- Steve Williams have been accused -- back when it was doing his thing with the rams that was something that people complain about it also. How many times have -- to an NHL game NBA game. You see the the noise meter on the jumbotron and no one has yelling around you honestly. That's gone to that point I wanted to right -- watch the noise -- okay you know loud very loud. Carded -- level you know whatever happens on the games and especially as lousy. You know nobody was nobody is moving out so that it it certainly does add a -- where I believe it's may be wishful thinking at this point now that the network has come out and really they should -- probably don't have any real -- In this issue towards the patriots Oracle's so that I'm coming out and in hitting that it was there -- problem -- fault really -- kills all story but you're right it is it really does add yet another element to this interesting story line between two teams that are forming an incredibly competitive rivalry that was the most intense regular season game. I have watched it a very long time and can even tell on the field on the field. These guys. Both these teams won this game so bad when patriots finally locked it up you saw everybody in the -- sidelines celebrating more than they usually do for a regular season that exactly for a team that's been there before and has been there more than anybody else in recent memory for react like that it just shows how important -- was doing team so. I mean yeah this is this earth orbit -- it would go because you know maybe eat. You know Big -- of patriots fans feel that. Little spiky thing is really you know it's it's one of those things like -- for a guy like that is -- that's what's fueling this but you're right it does -- Another interesting element -- the patriots colts -- ivory which. I think it is getting even better and better every year it is."

Play from 9:52[9:52]" And I am beginning to see now some signs of life in this rivalry like I -- back in the 1970s when the Dallas Cowboys in the Washington Redskins with a big rivalry espn.com and got a big spread over the course last week over rivalries in the NFL and al. Nothing really has been the same largely since that'll cowboys can probably when Tom Landry was coach of the cowboys and George Allen was coach -- the Redskins -- They went nuts on each other for you know pretty much close to 15 almost 20 years you could make a lesser case for you know maybe the the 49ers in being involved though with a rivalry in the cowboys again and and that that we talk about the east coast bias yeah -- as athletic -- he's always been very good rivalry over the years it's been very good rivalry but I think you know and rivalries get magnified in the sense of rivalry is heightened. When both teams are really good year -- and you -- and we really I don't think have had anything like that in the NFL four an extended period of time since -- would skin's starting at about 1970. And I'd say probably going right up until about 8586 and when that time frame and that of course cowboys got good again in the early 90s after they had some real down year from Tom Landry initially left. Beyond the colts I don't know I guess you can probably -- the culturally haven't had some a real rival. Probably since the days in Baltimore when they were rivals with a New York Giants minute talk about the greatest game ever played as a way before yours or my time here. They talk about the greatest game ever played in the National Football League was 1956 in the champ -- between the colts and the giants they made a movie out of it viewers of the movie diner. On the ever so I don't know you'll do yourself a favor and check that movie on dvd. Because it's about just a group of guys that basically hang out at a diner but there were all colts fans. And course the whole movie was basically on the being colts fans in anticipation of this 1956 NFL chabot your game so it's a me. The thing is is that. That was a rivalry back in the old days you know way back and we'll talk of throwback days right. Of the colts have had an equal rival since then. Until now. Wall and I think that's to me that's part of the great intrigue here for people who are long for fans -- long time and the infield it is now. You got something you can sink your teeth into little bit. The other thing here is that anticipate the fact that these two teams are all our our. Going to face each other in the sure at some point."

Play from 12:17[12:17]" When was the first brother the second round or the AFC championship there's a very good possibility that it could happen again. While not not at Pittsburgh hesitant to say about it because the way Pittsburgh played. Last night they're going to factor -- Pittsburgh is a paper tiger at at well -- ever tiger well okay but also you have to look at other teams in the -- you know the titans are a quiet six and two how that happened I have no idea about your point about the colts and I haven't had a real rivalry you know the colts up until. For five years -- his career where horrible French and it would with the exception of what with the exception of hardball in the one year today they had that ridiculous march it in the policies and the colts haven't hit it good rich -- at all so all fans fans of the longtime fans who paid realize what Apache they were because I have -- east when I don't divisional right. Finals here -- and actually that's another reason why these two teams muscle weight which is why it's it's. It's -- it's almost scary how he's -- easily than now you know -- and did exactly I don't know where -- basically saved the franchise where it was good. Like that after that horrible year that I -- future the colts -- but. This is just it's it's it's one of those things where it's -- upon robberies in sports nowadays anyways because. Okay winning obviously is important the city's passion for the team is obviously important. But the players are just -- important and how today's NFL to have the consistency of players. Getting grudges against one another individually accurately you rivalry on its own free agency so much player movement it's almost impossible to for those type of player versus player grudges that really helped make rivalries what they are and I think yours that now these two teams have locked up their key players. On both sides of the ball and now they're starting to play year after year the year in what every year now is the most hyped regular season game. Bar -- it's it really is becoming the perfect lap -- as a right now. It it it it really apartment robbery in sports when you think about it."

Play from 14:22[14:22]" And you continue to find I think the schedule makers in the NFL make sure that the cowboys are skewed the cowboys the patriots and the COLT -- want to -- Absolutely absolutely -- how many how many people -- not 6% of the country saw that gave you know -- this -- if you win your division than you're automatically supposed -- against the of the divisional winners in your league and then of course the other you can't do anything about the out of division opponents because it's on a rotating basis. So -- the patriots and colts remain the top of their divisions they will face each other every year even sell if they never wore -- of course that that obviously adds fuel to the fire but even if they weren't I think that -- put him on the schedule."

Play from 15:00[15:00]" They shouldn't have to do I mean are we look at look at -- the of the -- interest from teams that team's fans who honestly. It doesn't affect their Iran does affect their team at all teams -- fans or from the NFC whose teams are already out of -- obviously it was -- it's been I guarantee you this logic that about that it because that was what that's all they heard all week long and for good reason and for -- for once the game. Lived up to the -- that that is what that was the thing that was most satisfying to me was this game actually lived up all the hype and pomp and circumstance."

Play from 15:35[15:35]" We at all we are. I would ask do you really think so because I -- from from the patriots perspective I think a lot of fans here expected this game to be -- wider margin. In what turned out I'm not terribly surprised I predicted 34 point. That's what I said what -- for the game I was I was off by ten points. And I was off -- ten largely because the patriots got shelled for a 146 yards in penalties. Which is a franchise record and at some of the most horrid officiating that I've seen in a long time. On an infield Theo yeah this is the two army -- excuse a lot of bad calls. You you can look the other way all the calls so you know what breaks even out over the course the year. But they were just too avidly horrific horrific calls that were involved in that game and the most horrific which was -- numbers Colin Ellis Hobbs. I I thought that that play may have been one of the worst calls I have seen in NFL officiating crew that make a determination on will certainly since there is three -- came into play maybe in the last 1015 years he did everything. That I've been able to read in the and because in my own knowledge of bubble that have been able to surmise it everything you teach a defensive back to do opposition. -- turn is that I eat everything there was no extension they arms there was no contact initiated by him that I mean it was a fair picture. Perfect like the other call was the offensive interference but call on Randy -- almost -- well the reason in on. It was bad in particular because moss never extended his arms and never pushed off. And Randy moss surely has a right to go to the ball and if anything. You give the benefit of the doubt to the -- offensive players when going after a ball that is being basically a jump ball."

Play from 17:18[17:18]" And and how often do you any bonds not come -- al Wada and that's and you know one interesting point is is you know. You talk a lot a lot of sports but our players get a reputation. Bonds has reputation of being notorious for office the passion appearance that gets away with a lot. Just by the way he plays like that that also factor into it but to throw one more -- there that wasn't even -- all just happened Faulk on third and 20 what Kevin Faulk got -- Go over the middle that was -- that was absolutely horrendous use operating in the robberies face the other for a good reason that. Call honestly I mean we're watching at home and I will never ever be a refereed for anything but. It was it was so. Obvious that the five yard cushion that I'll let the players as -- to get out -- want. From the line of scrimmage was simply infringed upon it was not practically on the ground which ironically is the rule of Napoleon fought -- Patriots today is is receivers in 3 so exactly and and that call I think was the was the worst noncallable -- far away and granted okay it was it was obviously -- down. You know good coverage right Indianapolis play -- Ottawa for Faulk and okay they probably got the first unless Faulk broke three tackles but that's -- appointment -- it is. The rule rules brokerage -- it should have been a penalty on the play it should have been. He could he even called could even called sensible on the way that the way the ball so. You're right there with the officiating crew. Was horrible and it's it's it's bad for for us to say because you know patriots dot com you know all auditors the especially the papers lost all there just make excuses the officials and everything while. If it you know if we check the history books -- the Indianapolis has done a little bit of complaining about officials -- I I I think they did that so much so they had to change the rules for."

Play from 19:09[19:09]" There are many of us around here that have heard bill poli and in this very press box. You know yeah banging us you know okay so I mean it's a two way street -- exactly it's an absolute two way streets it's not so much. Is I don't think it's so much of sour grapes or or whatever you want to say I mean fact is is that the patriots won the game. You turn on you move on and now the goal is just keep when and where you can achieve secure home field advantage and give you give yourself. The best opportunity to do what you set out to do before the start of the season that is to winning Super Bowl and to get back on top -- in everything else is just super it was over the houses. So much cannon fodder everything else is just dressed window dressing -- the bottom line and that's what the guys demo hallway are most interested now. Couple of other things that. Want to get into in addition to being our normal nitpick. Slash you know humble pie Tuesday in finding one aspect one aspect of this nine -- start. That you did just does not sit well with you -- could beat any thing. It could be. A player's attitude it could be you know you're still embarrassed by spike gate he could be you know what ever it is maybe you're upset with the punter on the -- I don't know maybe -- that would -- answer. Don't know. What ever aspect of this nine -- start to this football team. You have that you're not saddled with that's what I want you to email us about today web radio -- patriots dot com okay good good bye week topic here. And so will that pick and will humble pie and will do this will be that thing is I wanna. Winning big game is -- I mean when -- series game is -- and you know you've got to watch whether it's the pats -- if -- if you're into the Sunday night game with a Monday night game whatever. Do you like watching it by yourself. Or do you watch it would of the people this is such a tough argument. This really is about well that that's why I ask you because I'm one of those as you know and I'm I'm I'm using this -- case appointment -- my story here knowledge -- but I -- but here's the thing. Sunday I head. A charitable function to attend to okay. And inevitably right during the middle game it was some that I had already committed to I knew the patriots colts game on this day. But we turned into a football function it was basically tailgate party at an indoor facility in downtown promised raise money for charity. We had members of the patriots alumni there an in all kind of thing was great and we had -- he has boxing ring card girls of their. -- so it greatly at RTL is an awesome party great great day here's the thing. You know I was obviously involved with a lot of the -- that that that's part of what I do for a living and I really didn't have as much time to pay attention as I want to do. Not only because I had duties to daycare which I was obligated to do but I kept him and have people come opened in or you think about this -- what about that they -- requested that what -- the what. I'd really have a chance living things it and so so I am one of those that when it comes down to a big game for instance Super Bowl parties. Don't like move don't I don't like them -- I have to -- it. At home in front of my widescreen okay and of myself out of my wife want to come into the room and watch the game they cannot speak. If you speak you will be ejected. Ejected ejected from the premise rejecting your outfit -- Yes I am wow I am one of those that would win a big game is on I needed to watch it nevermind the fact. That it's my job to talk about that game for entire week after the game is played. Which it is it is. But I just I can't. -- pick up the little things I -- look for the little things in game you know the penalties that we were talking about it in the play -- fault that you're talking about dominant in -- I mean I have to you know -- there and sometimes -- notepad you know about all of this would be good talk about this is -- what about you know and that level of moped that I can kind of refer back to a case on this thing -- In my warped brain you know I've kind of forget stuff myself from C Harris. It was humorous I don't can't remember -- Oh here -- what I -- that okay -- a little different I would've -- out my -- bleed -- it starts with the rest and then actually that I like -- yeah I realized that I realize this is the Internet but I still -- some good I'm -- so I -- was -- yesterday humble -- to they're very gutsy -- pick up on the team very very quickly although -- one of those guys that has to sit -- I have -- like. In misery in my own little but a pile of misery that they want the game I really don't like being out of public watching games. Now what how do you how do you."

Play from 23:41[23:41]" Go for well this is this is a tough topic because obviously parties are fun you don't get to a party early. -- perfect example is is actually this past Sunday. Patriots play the colts. -- before the game. You know a lot of other sports on ordinary at the Packers the -- on as well pretty good game it Diego Minnesota. Adrian Peterson putting on a show is just a great and of course the Celtics one as well plus local sports talk stuff going on so. Up until 4 O'Clock at parties pretty good I'm enjoyed it you know it's it's it was obviously with that -- give -- much tension rebate. You know kids that he okay -- the football game watcher but you're actually right because when the game starts in the BI find is that as the game goes on. I've become less a social the people say a lot because they don't like watching games with me. Because they'll they'll they'll -- subjectivity. College you that an idea I -- won't answer them -- you busy trying to listen to to the broadcast it's it's tough I've ever rejected."

Play from 24:36[24:36]" Path I've never done that I it's I've never -- the only little kid idiot in my that it eulogize part of epitomize what would you look over your shoulder. Look at that guy up there and yes I got one word that comes to mind what do you salad. That's Martin and -- Of course -- the Kansas football coach and obviously they're having an unbelievable year it was -- mixed -- whatever -- email letting -- you're no good -- looks like -- half of his offensive line is -- a huge person whatever -- does make them play like -- play and let them -- let -- in 76 -- Nebraska -- you know -- well I -- For a guy who you know. -- like negro -- is that -- college football as the 76 points -- what it means you know have us how the that will lower. I was a bubble Bud -- you don't know what you know is important when jeans looked like Cuba for a I think that may be just will be too rich for his -- Andre dominate the guys that you know he's a human heart attack I don't want doing at this -- have been more of these the next step he takes or the next breath he takes he's out. That looks like that -- about a cup -- opera shortly batted point there. To the phones at 5854 at 37482 Craig is in South Carolina hey Craig probably don't"

Play from 26:03[26:03]" Tom they have a much they can Rolen reaches into the mountain -- rally puts on in my heart. I -- three points not --"

Play from 26:17[26:17]" stopped the NFL can't make up their mind if you look at the game book the NFL game book. It is not recognizing -- block of the called -- yard field goal attempt. What do you government play by play portion of the playbook it clearly says you know ball was deflected by Richard Seymour. -- somebody needs to drop a -- and straight in a sellout."

Play from 26:45[26:45]" I actually heard something about that I actually and I didn't -- all abroad have seen it it's just there to -- people talking going to be you know that the Mario yeah yes I've already had to -- as the Colorado but but I actually -- hear that that it might have been blocked and I actually -- segment -- adequate but you're right I mean if if that happened -- Yeah NFL should correct local."

Play from 27:05[27:05]" Let me suggest you Craig of that would be of -- for the patriots to approach the NFL whether -- Stacy you know James or somebody NPR which would have to come from them. But if it's if it's a big enough deal then it would be up to the team to go to the NFL and say. Well this is how the official play by play it read so would like for you to acknowledge that."

Play from 27:23[27:23]" Well on behalf of patriots fan everywhere I'm going to ask you'd -- many connections minute. Push some buttons and you're achieving it done okay and it's it's contradictory I mean it again books on the statistical aspect seven. Yeah well we're zero -- be able -- But yet in their own book and the play by play it thing it opted you know -- I think the -- out again recognize he'd get. Stop the board."

Play from 27:56[27:56]" What happened there I understand it that picked Tuesday but I mean c'mon. He had a couple of the points that yardage yeah. -- busts out as a Greg is regular analysts are taken -- I. Greg is -- idea is a regular and a but we appreciate Craig's important Greg -- IQ Craig a lot of credit because he keeps coming back you know he knows your -- him. So like traditions oh it basically gets I'll check out it's just not a nit -- to -- it was Craig gets blown out all right and so that very well. Like oh Craig you know it just to answer your question I will law -- fall upon -- wells 11 to right it is an it is an inconsistency. On it is a discrepancy you can have one so one thing in the others say the other they after they should go hand in hand. So obviously that's an issued over the patriots I think instigate I mean it is Tuesday -- Tuesday that as humble pie -- quality district he's got many minutes but I'll but I mean that you know actually had read about that nick. You know I'll call up startled I didn't look like experts. -- a little like I'd honestly it in in normal speed -- by the idea that he hated that -- left in the that was the end of it it really that maybe she's Seymour -- little thing -- whatever. And they are will be after looking at the videotape and again I haven't looked at it slowed down. That they determined that it wasn't blocked in that it just wasn't changed in the play by play. -- happened that's also gonna happen also conceivable. That the only thing we're nitpicking about today I was used to -- yet a couple of other things that what is."
