As -- that -- linebackers today thank everybody knows him we'll start with the top of the draft two of the top six prospects potentially. Would be considered 34 outside linebacker he talked about Chris long and Vernon Gholston. I'm so guys talk about those two because there is the potential -- picking at seven depending on how this all shakes out with the dolphins negotiating with. With that Jake long and who Vernon Gholston however all plays out that you could get an elite prospects like down on the board and shakes up. Talk about those two guys and what you think he. What would your reaction be if they -- one of those guys vocal of private favorite to come here obviously certainly from any heart yen. I think he's the better pass rusher out of the two. So that the I would lean towards it was I think he has better upside is better pass rushing skills reviews that before -- long -- be dependable. But we don't really think he's going to be superstars so to -- seven I think goals that offers you more upside yet I think. Long may have popped out but even if he topped out I think he'll be decent Perot pulling outside linebacker. Gholston has all the measurable he looks great in the uniform you talk about biceps and muscles and and all these things that you look for that really jump out at yet. But I think there's a chance he's a spot on -- to be honest I love you as much as anyone by his chance that in a couple of years ago while. Look like Tarzan play like -- you know. He it is definitely a fear factor it would be our goal and out of -- either ten time pro bowl or -- bomb in his ten time pro bowler but I had Chad Jackson same boat. And I think I think it is conceivable that goals and could fall to that sentence but. Very unlikely but I think it is conceivable he's and I think guy because before the Columbine he was not a top ten -- And now. Based on public real moral your number well -- don't signed Jake long the next guy they're talk into his Vernon Gholston I think -- that it today that's of -- press conference. What he says there's no consensus that the top of that draft. So you don't really know who's going to fall as usually can kind of slot those first 23 guys in goal -- their but this year like -- said in the it is all of the year and let's not go overboard Gholston either I've heard the words Lawrence and Taylor. Used in the same sentence is -- uncles and that's just ridiculous there's a work disappear conceded that college quite a bit guys like Taylor Bruce Smith did so well so that's the difference that that's ridiculous that's going a little too far."

[3:17]" And in the comparisons not only comparisons but when you talk and long and goals and they're two very very different kinds of players here and I agree with you and you made a comment about long being a kind of guy I think that you kind of know what you can get you gonna get a guy that probably can step into with 34. And and play and he he's not I don't think -- has a potential bust out and I don't think he's going to be a you know. One of those guys five years and out -- out back I get taken a top five. But I don't think all the -- side is is all that in in -- either I think he's a very safe guy he can an alien debt whereas. Goal then you know eyes as you and Todd -- to Canada. Run the -- they could be high -- can be high impact player he also could be a guy that. We saw in the the national championship game this past year really not to with the against LSU so. You eat you gotta wonder -- goal that I like that edge pass rusher I think -- high impact guys in the if you want to get."

[4:13]" And yet to get him the top of the draft I want to stick with the defensive end outside linebackers here for a minute who are way down the list a little bit I've been watching some of the film last few days a guy I was intrigued by it was an USC yeah Jackson yeah I like him is a guy who could play he's rated. We go to my NFL draft scout real quick I can't find it February's rated but he's rated -- a little bit -- The -- if the patriots are -- they normally that I think he would be the buzz -- beyond what it because I think he would fit. Perfectly here I think he's a great player. But you're -- and the first round -- so the reason we have been talking about a lives because the chances are that's not the patriots are going to be selecting mission hill was overboard talking about that today that there's such a gap between where -- tickets have been. Where they pick late in the second round 58 I think it is somewhere down there. That there's a whole group of players in the -- depth wise late first early second. That they may not be really in the in the the right before he talked about you can only trade down so far from seven and you can only three so far from where they are you know at the end that's kind of that. Like we talked about Antoine cason -- reporter that he's going to be a tough get for the patriots they're going to fall that area those Jackson's -- Quentin groves and other guy treatment bring up. Who's in that area or the patriots might not be there to get it even if they like and that's gotta kill bill little bit because it of them have moved that's right where seems like that value with in this draft in terms of depth that last year you wanna be appear to take Laron Landry right rob Hendry Patrick Willis were up near or top ten picks this year you you wouldn't mind being thirty to forty somewhere in there. -- another guy we talked about a little bit in the past that the toe injury that cut down exact numbers but. If you watched the game the guys just explosive rate -- great pass -- and I think underrated against the whole thing yet at times a tackle in the back it's like I stand up to the running back and they growth is there to make the player you know yard or so I think I headed thinking I have to be honest. Alford has given Florida the most trouble of any team defensively. And I think he's a big reason why him coming off the edges balls at -- you said not just on passing plays. But the running play to getting in the backfield to -- and explore all -- player again. A guy I'd love to hear but it's how we -- late first round area. Nasal a tough one for them to probably get -- it really makes them."

[6:33]" And you know like he'll talk to need you mentioned it's hard to get that high and not I'm not talking about from seven these are not going to go that far down from him but. Dejected at the end of the first round from from the end of the second round is impossible that no man's land pick what do I think this 55 picks between. The patriots first and second -- that is too big of a gap to close and it's unfortunate because there's a lot of guys I agree with you guys wholeheartedly about Quentin groves I loved."

Tiny Wheaton College. -- NFL draft status now moved into the seventh round is an outside linebacker guy dominated at his level at a couple injury issues but very productive. I like him all the draft stock is rising and write history is any indicator that guys we been talking about it won't take that I got taken to baker right now move on to some of the you know more prototypical college outside linebackers the top of that list Keith rivers and I think we all project if he's the pick because the name has been thrown around a lot of seven. He projects as an inside linebacker you talk about him to. Yeah he's he's what -- athletic guys from USC can run -- chased down ball carriers does everything pretty well. Well we sweep the talkative either one of the things that worries me. Is it his two teammates while Alou good -- came while he might have been the third guy drafted from a school. It's not that we I like rivers I think he's a good player but it said it pretty good value at that. With that ticket I don't think yards so it's -- that's another one of those -- kinda tough because you don't want to take it was seven now if -- trade out of twelve or thirteen cities there. That would be good it."

[8:12]" And I do want to point out there's been we've received an emails about the size I guess there's different Internet. Listings for him he is -- He's 204 something pounds six to maybe an inch shorter so then -- you really prefer but he has the size that played a three fourths not necessarily his game in terms of Ted Johnson take on a -- out I think he's more speed there's two guys but he's big and I think there's two guys in professional football left the play like that it's over the guys are -- and we talked about that a little -- sort of transition -- over the years some of the guys they've shown interest in the bisons Vilma is guys that power speed base line -- Miami -- guys run around make him play with will lead to 38 to forty and he was right in that to forty range yet no no question and he's big enough to play -- you know I think that he. I agree with you -- about -- translated to the -- I don't think he's tall enough to plan outside he's only two and he doesn't have those and let's be honest -- outside guys here go to accede to eat yet he could play out at 43 he you know you know -- side note I that they -- might be better suited for that yeah and I think that's what you know. You look at outlet is my -- he could excel in that but I'm not sure the way to patriot like to use that route I'd guys mature he has the all around skill to do that but I think he would. That means I'm sure he's -- very talented some of the other names out there DB who were just talking about Virginia Tech I -- one guy milk I think that pretty overrated doesn't like yeah and -- cute little I certainly don't think he's a deep your routine out I certainly don't think he's a patriot he's another speed -- guy runs around. I just don't and I like the other tackle there that there it's -- better than -- yeah. Aaron hand Anderson at a Maryland I know he's a guy you like island on him. I think he's okay I don't little lukewarm on I don't know about for here I'd just like. Right Crable to Michigan outside linebacker he said Harvick the guy I actually like I like table one. A guy really liked the Florida State was geno Hayes I think he can play I think he's a football player I don't know where -- immediately -- to wanting gap and I know that I echo says you know that jumps out with did the whole bomb to to move thing he's -- Mike. I watched guys today. I'd like to get my shot I'm not given any of these linebackers shots that they don't fit I couldn't I couldn't stop thinking about -- were tenacious kept coming every play that they showed on his tape. He seemed to do it after the ball and I don't know if you feared he might be for three weeks I'd like I mentioned with rivers but I I -- that guided -- play after play."

[10:46]" The one guy and -- that right kinda like that I think could make this which is Curtis gate would out of Vanderbilt. I think he could play so I'll -- 34 he's project has more the later round pick up one of those type that if I do about it at this point very very athletic time yet so maybe in the late round that's a guy they take it fight started to -- Peter awards he if you can produce at a couple leaders played super."

[11:08]" All the Tampa I. And then I finally pulled on a little bit inside linebacker here where you know it's always -- talk about this when the patriots are looking for linebackers. The outside linebackers are inside linebackers defensive ends in college or outside linebackers. Some of these guys that might seem like college inside linebackers you wonder and the -- inside linebacker here but the top of the list in terms of prospect yet again Penn State's Dan Connor on -- we interesting has some differing opinions on him on you know Tom not a big fan. And Fred -- a big -- apparently -- the -- I'd -- decent player we've talked -- it was -- not -- not flashy -- I think he's gonna -- the twenty ninth -- but -- seven -- twenty -- tomatoes -- actually -- NFL draft -- down -- And now. He'd go back to piper here in patriots football weekly talked a lot about may you know he thinks. And Keith rivers are a lot closer than say the seventh pick in the draft and the 28 pick in the draft he thinks that gap there is closer than that 61242 for mayo sort of a Tedy Bruschi -- inside buddy list anger but it wouldn't be in."

[12:38]" All I liked what I saw from all over the field when Tennessee played I mean that's a guy. [12:58]" Some of the other names there you know second third round picks we have Curtis Lofton and Oklahoma jumping off out of Vanderbilt I think -- another guy we all kind of like it was on tape he's actually a local direct volleys from Johnson president John rampant -- by all accounts you know. A good all around guy made a lot of plays for them the question being. Is he quote unquote in the posting a three down linebackers the only thing that's why he won't go that high in the draft for a I've been a reason why the patriots draft right because -- says -- slip. Well I think it bill looks at and says. I don't care for the three down linebacker he's good on first and second going to play somebody else -- if you look at the patriots these fans that are there a lot of guys that we. And I cannot -- and linebackers mean Vince Wilfork is pretty I -- 21 pick overall draft right. Not that it usually play on the was a linebackers you know we going back to Ted Johnson there were weeks were Ted Johnson was -- three down player and no -- down player. I mean it depends on game plan what you know they play in the -- with Jerome Bettis or -- playing a more you know the colts would passing attack so. I think bill sees a guy and says yeah he's two down player two good downs. Bed watching watching tape in the -- most looked like he simply in this system -- You know be very athletic. Down -- corner I like beau bell the president just a middle yeah -- dropped they have them in the fourth round guy with a down arrogantly. Knock knock knock it on the fifth yet."

[14:28]" But he's been a pleasure to so I think that might be one of the reasons has been able to work golf for a lot of teams yet. But yeah I mean he's he's got athletics -- and that's. -- we talked about it I'd linebacker position we talked about paid job that I gotta be out we generally want to see those guys I don't want to that guys Campbell around the patriots got plenty of those linebackers that get for -- underneath crossing routes. I want to see some guys with athletic ability some athleticism and -- Bell's one of those guys speak he -- run. -- meet that would be a great -- that -- with a ferocious hitter through which policy and see a lot of that from a lot of that's one of the things that brought up."

[15:01]" When you're chasing it's hard to be a ferocious hitter you're just trying to grab the guys who goes by we've seen him chasing around your recent years in the linebackers at that that little older. We'll lower two innings of one hit on a little later -- guys I'm one of them we get a lot of emails on he was a big name like college player. Would be out Lehmann out of Illinois J -- injured on. At this point not even expect it to be drafted but people look at him as a productive guy he was very adamant at the -- saying you know just give me a chance I know on her but I think I can be productive I think -- be productive the next level college player. I kind of event of version of my car but you know what. As undrafted free agent sure come try -- I was gonna say just outside he's not going to get drafted by all accounts -- when I'm not drafted he'll go to someone's camp and make it awfully difficult but it cut him because to all the things we'll do. Get yourself ready in the summer he'll -- the veterans by al party plays and all that I -- you and another guy I think we all like -- to hate. Com is McClain I don't Syracuse yet. Very -- a big big -- over to -- please -- that event and -- like that I would -- that and -- got a right to not athletic guy but to -- smell like a Belichick height as Tom says the versatility big do you play -- it's weird about it pretty well become yes everybody was surprised by how fast he -- he's versatile he could take -- blockers get to the quarterback. It probably would right. And all the white native teams so maybe -- is that as a full effort full -- what other guy down there haven't found attitude on the floor and off. Another name to keep in my late in the draft that's generally when the patriots I think going to draft linebackers you know after. After all the good -- got. The guys the patriots are going to draft to -- rekindled a youth at linebacker -- just heard the name. Now I have to pick which one it is back toward. Well thank -- yes.
