[0:12]" Of podcast from Patriots dot com. Our team -- together together what's that. You -- a little. I've often but -- better appreciation. And congratulations. Election. And induction. In the national football hall at Patriot broadcast live from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro so there runs that's been another yesterday and got on -- confidence and presence out there and I'm sure everybody on the field not much is that the fans backs but all the defensive players the coaches. Health of players know they think they feel that present that feeling confident and feel kind of -- that -- that he brings you know when he walks on the field now with your Patriots 2008 training camp update the Reuters of Patriot football weekly."
[0:59]" Welcome back to Gillette Stadium a very special day here in Foxborough. I don't know if it's official or unofficial but it's Andre Tippett day around here. As most of you probably know Saturday night you'll be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He addressed the media this morning at a press conference. Then he addressed some of the employees here -- Phillips stadium around lunchtime. And then after practice he went out and that addressed the crowd here at the practice fields and I want urge you to stick around through the end of this -- and you. Probably shut them off before it reaches a conclusion that this -- to the end we will bring you Robert -- words after practice. Hundreds if it's worth that to practice in its entirety which took place in front of the -- in front of the team on the field the bulk of the but he was out there edit it and off Andre tip they had to. You know it's kind of funny he walked through any sort of like royalty kind of passing through you see guys like -- Just stick your hand out Tedy Bruschi wrapped his arms around him. But that was after practice. This is a training camp practice podcast who'll get the action first. Tom Brady not on the field they --"
[2:04]" he was won the long list that you will. Tell our listeners about right now. Only that long but obvious that the most know Tom Brady. More than likely getting Wednesday for you know. Personal mental health day you know like most the the veterans do but. Brady Webster James Andrews -- Anthony Clement Matt Light David -- Along with. And around nine members of PP with -- return last night. All the other at seven of those guys counting Brady the other all missed practice. Last night at the very minimum some of them have made multiple practices in the case of Jason Webster Matt I think this makes it straight. Practice that they have not been present for. Oh probably open. Draw a mild concern anyway on the part of of white in you Webster as. Can't. Fluff that office of veteran kind of thing but rating today -- to a home."
[3:03]" One of those idea maybe -- I told us after the injury I assume. Just the veteran -- We should touch on them before breakdown practice a little bit some of the other tidbits of practice Fernando Bryant. Looked like he twisted and he may be. In any pass breakup in which actually Tank Williams deflected the ball. Brandon Meriweather than cradled it in for an interception. And then ran down the field Penguins trainers came out looked Adam looked Adam you know. I would say longer than just a casual. Sort of walk it off type thing. But in the end he did stand up walk off the field I did not see him return. For the conclusion of the full pads practice out here to a stadium. I think that is a mild concern at this point as we move forward keep in mind that because -- and by the two main veterans they brought in Webster Bryant. If they're dealing with something now you don't have the -- that you kind of wanted coming into camp between the experience in the -- not all of."
[4:00]" Lincoln and about Bryant and -- at dangerous when you do when you make some medical evaluations from afar by like David Thomas a couple of days ago for example. Looked like he had something happen talked to the train for awhile left the field. We haven't seen him back at practice it was up there for the walk through -- yesterday morning but as a Nat Burton in pads and then. Bryant today -- just described what happened to him not really sure exactly with the injury was or. What not but he stayed out there was -- no one will be around. I I would think it was a did not return correct I I didn't remember him going back and Angels I didn't see him I didn't I didn't know. But I think if it's one of those things that he needs treatment on an article evaluating -- X ray. Do something. They get him off the field and in Dudack the only -- say is is just as history would kind of make you wanted to and he he has an altering those guys -- Bryant. Have. You know pretty checkered past when it comes to injuries so you don't want a team anything minor or you know insignificant. At this. Okay let's talk a little bit about the practice. A lot of down and distance work with the offense and the team's offensive. And some two minute work with the offense defense that kind of closed a practice with a two minute to two minute work which was the -- against the -- But earlier on when they are running. Different I don't want to -- ones because there's a lot of different Bob castle variations feel right up they have nick -- left tackle and you get a guys moving all around. The quarterbacks is what I want to talk about kind of get your reaction has too. What you saw from past -- Gutierrez and they even O'Connell. I would get a decent handful of reps throughout throughout the just I thought. I thought most of his stuff actually happened before the team. The -- period but with the council in areas I I think. Okay I don't think it even won a black cast it was better than yours today. I don't think either one of them at the world on fire I don't think either one of them look really bad I thought they were okay may have good players it's not a good place. Gutierrez. It really tight throw down you might think to. I'm not mistaken and then later on in the practice try to get it to me in the event that you talked about it. Try to get one -- and I'd like to Aiken Mike Richardson stepped in front. It. Probably would have been a touchdown. Oh I usually -- the ball and I think that's certainly what we're very accurately thrown behind -- got some of them back shoulder want to. One that was an excellent -- that was natural right thought. Intentionally it was -- Watson in the end zone on it down and distance work down in the red zone and a couple behind on yeah he had of Moscow and it looked. Idea in not surprised what -- makes Brady looked good to -- made it yet today dad. Anybody else expect it to you right. Or five paragraphs about it he went up like Antonio Cromartie made an interception last year against Peyton Manning one hand. Got the point the ball maybe tipped it to a political I think he does it yet now. It just it was behind him it was well I would've definitely been -- or acted. Had down -- knock on the hand on it. And he makes it catches on the ground I just an -- Hewitt -- singled and I don't know how to react to that I'm I'm a little porn."
[7:16]" As a Patriots observer -- last year did nothing. And he comes out at you like -- is not too many of the them too many of these plays in training camp action but certainly we've seen when he's on the field he is the best player on the field. And I would include in terms of skill Tom Brady and that. Because monsters wows you with physical ability. In the way that a Michael Vick would at a quarterback in terms -- speed aura or John Elway would in terms of his arms think Randy Moss just as the pure physical tools that. That absolutely while you everytime he's out there it doesn't matter who's thrown to him because he's going to make as you said the one handed catches and acrobatic catches and yet one that was behind him in the end zone crossing. And he kind of ball that for a second but still halted and got his feet down for the count as well once that thought that was really what was wrong I was behind him he should have been an easy. Picture perfect little down with the ball in front of him in behind him it makes it."
[8:08]" A lot more difficult it was frustrating because you're a fan you know like I mean in the I don't know really not a lot of other people -- it. You know you looked adamant is mum likes -- it was very comfortable in the he looked very comfortable running you know and I we both talked about this in in the tenth. I thought he looked like he was in in -- he gets back there. Right on his back foot thing the ball is all right what -- supposed to be he was open coming across that back on that touchdown along last season with Brady. Any openings in it I thought that was a good Alex coming right at us it was. One of the rare they would -- apartment -- and the throw was just bad -- was behind me. Anybody -- probably struggle to make that putt defensively. I will say guys fine gravel especially in the secondary. On that play I mention where Bryant actually got banged up. They were using sort of a unique defense Orleans lines. Would've had thought for a -- and -- That we're going to have problems this year Tank Williams plays deciding what they're doing yet 'cause and you know that's part of -- defenses -- for offenses as well. -- but I thought a lot of bodies flying around Rodney flying around a little bit. I thought Brandon meriwether. Was sort of all over the field -- if -- there -- in -- camp and I mentioned yesterday -- and I feel about it but I think he's an extremely actually caught the ball today which is always after him because from the field hasn't done -- in the -- caught -- before but he held -- getting some -- in the absence of dreams and is -- couple workouts I think he's had a very good training camp yes I think he's making a serious push for a roster spot this early point -- when you -- special -- ability and and his coverage ability I think as a corner turn -- the I think defensively. We talk about the offense a lot and defensively it's almost like you only write about him when they get. You know love big player -- action but I think there was some bodies flying around at their batted balls I'm here woods going to handle want to -- passes. He -- warrant a -- you know the kind of offensive line foraging aren't in more I thought had very strong so I think rushing defensively I thought there were a lot of bodies just flying around today Shawn Crable at some reps with the first unit in -- a lot out there yet it was it was interesting. Kevin O'Connell want to mention. On the showing sort of as a young quarterback I think it might have been his first -- Broke the huddle. And then had to re huddle because. Something wasn't right and -- has total control at the -- huddle before they did their first snap on a lot going on there with a quarterback and then defense that thought there was a lot going on. Everywhere -- front line backer safety tank to Tank Williams. I thought it was an interesting. Practice dealing with the."
[10:44]" Passing game primarily and now another thing that was. You know and or Rodney you know his his physical presence in the secondary at a ethnic as I had taken a swing at quality he came back last night he was back for the evening practice last night it was it was really quite indoors flying over. And not much run but he he made and he was his racquet -- that he. Yeah a couple of hits on running plays we team over the one that you just talked about after the in that room. I needed somebody. Ask about it afterwards with a big big group around in the two miles in that he wanted to give lie on O'Neal who -- I think that he brings -- it to the field and and now it's -- training camp when you have a little that I mean not much Hideki. Might have taken a little that far and make an Indians and reds don't play literally brought across separated him from the."
[11:35]" While lying in the and -- rattle little little bit but that it looks he looks great he's excited to be up there on the first. Of the week. Or. Anyway that's going to put the wrap on it. And others. We -- to work that are. -- thank Chris. Over bombing away clinical but Adam but I felt like we need the boomer yeah. I -- I'm okay and how we're going to do. Because it is Andre Tippett -- very special day here -- that they very special week for Andre -- I urge you all to walk ceremony Saturday he is ready to go to practicing the -- he's like standup comic out there he's going to be the first one yes Spock and L network and -- L network. On the courts here. -- but also. Paul Rose as the in a -- in the air but you can hear us sneak preview what Tippett has day. Thanking everyone in the very special today where he addressed the team. Doctor Robert Kraft and after the crowd out here to a."
[12:37]" This is a very special week. Andre Tippett. The Patriots organization. And all of us who -- fans of the knowing when it is now. Won -- six years ago. In 1982. The Patriots drafted Andre. And and for the next decade. He was the most dominant defender. In the you know now. In 1984. Yeah at eighteen and -- facts. A franchise record. In 1985. He had sixteen and ops acts. 35 sacks back to back. A man up -- record for linebackers. And remember. He did that at a division. Went to the Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Jim Kelly happened Buffalo and Dan Marino. Down in Miami. And for those of you don't remember. The first twelve times. That Andre Tippett Patriots. Face Don shoeless Dolphins. Along with Dan Marino as quarterback. The Patriots won nine -- well. Starting with that great win streak of seven games. The original game Williams squished the fish. Down in the Orange Bowl. The franchise is now 48 years old. And there's one hall of when play our. Who played only for the Patriots. John -- This Saturday at six. We introduce. The second the number one offensive player for the Patriot. Andre Tippett. It. Well I must say when we bought the team fourteen years ago. Our desire. Was to create a brand and religiously. That all of you fans throughout the country who are Patriot fans can be Bravo. And I must tell you know that it's my hope and desire. That and I'm very short years. Will have a number of these players. Joining John and Andre."
[15:20]" Okay."
[15:24]" That is my personal pleasure now. To introduce the greatest defensive player. In the history of the New England Patriots. And my personal friend. Andre Tippett. Thank you Robert."
[15:45]" Thank you all on today has been a wonderful -- sendoff like I couldn't ask for anything better. Versus daughter with. You spend the time -- but -- I would mister Kraft and and Robert thank you for agreeing to be mark prisoner. You've given us so much as fans and followers of the New England Patriots. And I think to have you present. In kitten is your greatest honor that. I think that you deserved to. So thank you for that. My day -- my day I didn't know how much they was gonna go. And I was told by Stacey James that we got a lot of things planned and my where my wife with -- go get my kids out of camp so we can get ready to take off we go to camp and and I get a call this morning and I'm told to show up. In the team meeting room and I got nervous that thought maybe it did something wrong that this bill law. A little nervous and what I tell you what I won't share what went on. But I tell you that I am very much appreciative of that special moment that I had and -- locker room and you guys and you all know you aren't that. I think the world of a lot of you guys and I think that so what you've done this organization and how hard you guys have worked. I just take my hat off to your continue to be. Indebted to you guys because what you've done around here maybe even more prouder to be in New England -- and former player. And use the coaches. You guys you guys know that you know that is that doesn't have to be set but I want to do. The fans here in New England to understand the special relationship. In the respect that I have you all as a football where. We often talk about that please. We often talk about the price that's paid to play this game this is in the game that anybody can just show up. In -- little money did hear. If as you watch these guys in throughout the rest of the -- these guys are paying their dues now. And everything that happens in the National Football League. There is a price to -- These guys continue to pay the price now while they're still playing. I paid a price and as a result of that price I got pretty lucky and I got some people that. Realized that. The Hall of Fame is where I belong and I am so happy to be on my way there. I wish we could all go out there was you to take -- out there but I hope you guys stay tuned on ESPN's. In the NFL network.
