You know based on the match and obviously at that I after two weeks I'm not convinced that there -- a playoff team okay. That aren't one man's opinion and and you know Vick who last year had the Patriots number one throughout the whole around the -- all isn't even like when they played. Indianapolis. It's true and all the type games they've faced so it's not like -- lucky Patriot hater right. So that's why I'm glad we had him on yesterday because I respect Vick route to his opinion about as much as any -- generated reporter. That I know covering the NFL I think that guy knows his stuff yeah and pretty even handed and he's very even handed he's about what it is no agenda a lot of it is the end I. You know and in you know but I know this there while he's he's been guys. The very knowledgeable football guys put. They have they have agendas number one and number two when your former player and still. Have relations in certain cities were used to play and you hear about it all the time got an agenda what you do or not."

I mean what got burned by the -- we hate there you know they hate their coach a couple of years ago you know he's had a -- loser in for the Patriots -- that he has but you know what last week -- Sosa in the NFL countdown last week. I only saw a article a little little part of it is not who partly nephew that he was adamant adamantly against the Patriots winning that game. That I knew I always are all he he he he he made a good case for there they're not winning game not winning that game. And you know how that worked a formula while they work out to offer him but but only one player I think it was -- on. One member of that right back crew even even Berman who you know Berman loves the most interest. Picked picked the Jets to win the game. But but but Jackson was the most vociferous. About. The fact that he he just felt that it wasn't going to be close that the Jets are going to be upon what does that what does that tell tells us that even the quote unquote experts don't know everything. They just don't. They -- and a guy like Jackson might point one guy like Jackson and does I don't think he really has an agenda. As opposed to some of the other players tour a lot younger closer to having retired and he. And I don't know that's a matter."

[4:59]" Where he would have less of an agenda because he's been more removed from the game. For years but I really believe. And knowing this as they do from several people who work with at that network he was burned by the little thing he -- like. You know the network didn't vacuum open into it too -- more took a lot of heat for you know from players in the game and -- the game and so. I kind of feel like you know I don't know how he can really be impartial. Like a journal as -- to be anyway and that the other thing I mean everybody all the ex athletes. You know that have positions of a birdie and in in in terms of giving their analysis. There's no -- that know how to be impartial they have been trained to be impartial they're not. Reporters. And their athletes giving their opinion so when you realize that they're not. Reporters people who have been training gone through years of this kind of experience you seek an athlete he retired -- for example right now he's retired. Fox asked him why because everybody knows that too with the gap toothed grin that he's got. That's like he's a personable guy it was always good and and not Eddie's always good with the -- well when it suited him. -- bug up his rhetoric about a lot of media who. Including last year so let's keep this in mind you know he has his job as well as mostly at least the job. Not because they're great reporters. Because they are known personality. One afraid to give an opinion. Based on what ever want to -- they used to -- it is not impartial they have no journalistic training so. You have to understand -- on the ticket for what it is it's one man's opinion it doesn't necessarily mean that it's right and it doesn't even antley. Mean that that reporter. Use that term -- of that athlete that accidentally whatever has done his research more these guys don't they shoot from the hip. And that's the sad part about it that the networks don't bluntly hire these guys even when they don't do their -- that's why. Might based on my knowledge of the situation in and I got the second hand it okay take it what it's worth your game but. He got one phone call from one player in the pats locker room whose you know on Mahan would have been a tough time with coach B right now -- basically I'm paraphrasing. But based on that one phone call he's all that he'd be able to hate their coach now that's not what you're supposed to do. In in in reporting you have to get sometimes too -- maybe even more sources from completely different and the same thing before in reality you go with a or. You know Eric you may remember several years ago I don't know if not. But several years ago when I was local television on in Providence. I had at the time. What I thought was a blockbuster story well on current Patriot player who was in recap. And calm. I got that story because it was someone. Who was. In rehab with him but could never get it verified. I could never get anybody else to agree or disagree to order -- old story died. And an -- this kind of stuff happens all the time all I'm in this business. How many stories that -- wanted to go with but ball the better why because I didn't because I followed journalistic reporting principles."

[9:19]" Well unfortunately John I think nowadays too many people in this profession. Take the one source like you had him play and run with -- and -- they report rumors. What they report anecdotes. This is held without confirmation -- get started right Alex I -- put it right that's the proliferation of blogs has a lot to do with that. That -- the proliferation of the blog has a lot to do that because now you have a forum where you can throw a rumor out there and not technically journalism. It's a place to talk about rumors that is why the whole Internet thing is it's really it's tough line. But his walk it and it troubles me that so many. So called legitimate news sources look to blogs for news and then they -- rumor or tidbit and then they run with it. Without doing their own home they cite a site the blogger this site that horse to do they absolutely about the whole story of who's your plan. He's played them in the back him here's what."

You know still looking certainly -- shuffle over there but so far it hasn't happened Hertzberg. Reasons beyond his his control him I suppose so I just you know that's why you know no matter how much you want to go with a story. You have to have yet you have to follow principles that the -- currently begin with and to give accurate two point yours Joey Porter shoot all the -- I would expect a player currently plaguing. To go anywhere near those kind of standard what you have to understand is that Joey. In his particular he should all -- his mouth because. Probably partly because he's got that certain -- He's got that he he wants to create swagger for himself dating back to his Pittsburgh days he wants people -- know that hey I haven't gone anywhere. He's probably feeling buried it in a place like Miami which is. Apartment going to be horrible again this year feels like he -- person some -- and maybe a little bit."

He's one of those players that has to draw attention to get one of those guys that regardless of Asia that's what what's around them that's exactly right. He absolutely has -- and I know you are players like that however good they may be on the field if they can back it up or not I just have no use for guys who talk just for the -- of -- Yeah -- really. I don't understand what they what they think you're going to get out of it because. Nine times out of ten maybe nineteen times out of twenty back pars on why do this because it's all about attracting attention to themselves and even if -- their face the Patriots you know kill them. He won't feel any worse about it. The kind of team that you don't even want to UT now be honest and you know it's sadly at -- I think a lot of times the case that the guy. To wanting people to know the -- Joey Porter probably or whoever it a little the player may be I don't I guess he feels like you know at least bad publicity is better than no public right and -- and it might even be a little bit of a crutch for his own athletic ability because -- mean I feel like he's. And as great a player. If you didn't make those kind of comments when we talk about your reporter as much for what he does on the field absolutely not but now but I thought about it today writes blogs all over the place talking about it today right fans are talking about today why because he opened up his big -- you know he basically is you don't -- they're not all that Brady's not a round. So lock -- possibly be any good and you get. Quit when a team like Miami is is an a year with and I'm very good and they have a player like reporter whose average -- that Wednesday's. Anything better than that. But when you talk about the players that that a team as bad as Miami has you think of a Joey Porter because his name comes up so much because he talks them -- not necessarily because he's out there making plays. This whole you know issue bring in Joey up today and I mean I can we not talk about it because it. Is you know it it. He -- and water it would give the Patriots that the players in the locker room. Are considering at all it's only any of the more ammunition what was also the first question that Matt Cassel was that the perfect at -- press and he said. He basically decide you know he sort of played it off like I didn't really hear what -- is that on pay attention that I mean it's the typical Patriots. Line which you'd expect he's not going to beat the fire. What do what do you expect these that this that it's the Patriots they don't. Usually take the low road with. With -- Players yes it's. I I didn't expect instances that further that viewed. Very true so I'm except so there was talking on Sunday. That's that I'll take it that's that further. They may keep quiet in front of the media but they'd say they internalize it. You know there's no there there guaranteeing that they internalize that they keep it in the back of their minds and a and -- have a chance on game day. To let their play do the talking they do and you saw last year when I'm right. Who was that no names safety Anthony Smith from Pittsburgh yeah was running his mouth about I guess -- guess is a Latin going to pay. And when when nine Gaffney and Moss scored their touchdowns what they do you. They went right and they were right and the rights and in the face and let him -- Olympia and that they did not appeal stated on the field they didn't run their malls all week which is the right way to do. Issue with what Porter said I think some of the younger guys might. You know and and because because. -- can be kind of an intimidating guy he's big physical. He says he'll get your face you know even off the field we always had an incidence with other players -- the league. There was a thing in Vegas I think query where he punched a guy from the angles. Couple years ago -- and it not a casino or something like that and so he's he's the kind of guy that if you say something -- on the you know you human after expects. Some something physical and return. So I think some of the younger guys might and might might want to speak up insane thing because a they're young guys and be there on a team where there's really not much of a leader. To speak of I think Pennington might by default fall into that category. And I think so I think someone like him might take issue with what Porter said but you know. Their first round pick. This year is an offensive linemen and you know. That last year's pick Ted Ginn junior wide receiver young that I just. Know that that's. -- really see where he was where he's going to get the the pushed back unless he gets that from up above right you know unless like Parcells. If Parcells with a coach I think. You wouldn't --"

In that in throughout the pre season and even last year that's good last year Erica Ellis Hobbs looks he'd been here and went yeah and I think he kind of said it either earlier this week or after the game that he really feels healthy again this year and you know he put a lot of the onus on that last year and it is not having. Being a 100% all season. He clearly was taking. More chances in the Jets game he was getting closer to the line of scrimmage. Now Favre doing what he does when a play breaks down and he runs around and he finds a guy for a first down on a busted play. You can't really -- music as you are supposed to stick with your your man when you're in man coverage but. That's what Favre doesn't know how he makes plays. You know but on the plays where he just struck back in the pocket. And aspiring. I liked what I saw like that the at the corners are playing tighter coverage. And I think that they'll need that in addition to the front seven getting pressure on whatever quarterback they have to go off the right."
